Infowars.net
Friday, Nov 27, 2009

On Thursday 19th November 2009 news began to circulate that hacked documents and communications from the University of East Anglia’s Hadley Climate Research Unit (aka CRU) had been published to the internet.

The information revealed how top scientists conspired to falsify data in the face of declining global temperatures in order to prop up the premise that man-made factors are driving climate change.

The documents and emails illustrated how prominent climatologists, affiliated with the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change, embarked on a venomous and coordinated campaign to ostracize climate skeptics and use their influence to keep dissenting reports from appearing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as using cronyism to avoid compliance with Freedom of Information Act requests.

Here follows a compendium of articles and videos on what was quickly dubbed as “ClimateGate”.

Sa va impartasesc cateva secrete tehnice despre cum sa ai o amanta atunci cand esti oficial cu o alta femeie.

1. NU ii tine numarul in agenda. Memoreaza-l.

2. NU uita sa-ti stergi memoria apelurilor dupa fiecare convorbire

3. NU suna fara anonim (#31#numar)

My laptop is hardly the top of the range and after having it for the last 2 – 3 years I though

My laptop is hardly the top of the range and after having it for the last 2 – 3 years I thought a memory upgrade might just be what it needs. With the much anticipated Windows 7 (positive or negative), I thought the time was right. But I asked myself where the best would be to buy memory for a laptop and more importantly at the right price?

Well after much searching in the land of the web, I discovered mermemory.co.uk. I have to say I was not disappointed. Even for the most technically challenged, this website actually makes it possible for any technophobe to order the memory they need with 100% success.

What is really useful about this site is the user is provided with a selection tool that identifies your exact make and model giving you or anyone the confidence of buying the right memory module. Delivery was quick, and well I’m typing on the laptop right now so the two sticks are working.

The only thing I would say is that some motherboards do need two modules of memory. I made the mistake of only ordering one 2GB stick and when I tried to repeat the order, because of the flat HTML design the second order did not get processed; nothing that a friendly customer support sorted out promptly on the Monday morning. Apart from that and the fact Mr Memory do not trade on the weekend, I would recommend a visit and a purchase.

The business has a genuine feel to it, but also very capable. Check it out.

This is really simple: Suppose you want to check if some action of yours makes a difference. How to

This is really simple:
Suppose you want to check if some action of yours makes a difference.
How to do it?
The wrong thing to do:
Think of the consequences of your action and evaluate them to see if they fit your purposes. If they do, go on and do it.

The reason for this being wrong: If someone else does something with the same consequences, and if your doing or not your action makes no difference to the fact that THAT person will do it, then you are not necessary for those consequences, they would happen anyway.
This is also true if something, not a person, would do an action with the same consequences.

The right thing to do: Consider what would happen if you DIDN’T do your action. Subtract that from what would happen if you DID do your action.
This is the difference it would make if you did it.

There is a reason it is called a ‘difference’, it is the difference between you doing it and you not doing it.

Example: Suppose you think you will make a difference by carefully considering your vote, and voting.

Wrong: Well, I’m partially causally responsible for the election of X so my action would make a difference.

Right: If I do vote or if I don’t vote, the same candidates will be elected. Therefore my vote makes no difference.
(In more than 16000 elections in the USA it was NEVER the case that one vote would have made a difference)

The AWFUL argument people usually say: But what if everyone did it?

The reason it does not work: Everyone will NOT do it. Yes. That simple.

The reason it is awful: Compare “I don’t think I should go to the movies today, what if everione did it?”

So, when you are willing to make a difference, not feel good, not do what everyone does, not clean your consciousness. When you want to REALLY, REALLY make a difference, you should consider the difference between doing and not doing it.

It is that simple.

Patch 3.2 was a good one for Mutilate Rogues’ and Patch 3.3 looks like it will be too. Recent updates to the Patch notes appeared yesterday.

Deadly Poison: In addition to its existing effects, when a rogue applies Deadly Poison to a target which has already reached the maximum number of applications, this will also trigger the poison which the rogue is using on his or her other weapon.

Improved Poisons: Bonus chance to trigger Deadly Poison from this talent increased.

This means for Mutilate Rogues on a single target you should see more procs of Instant Poison. This should be another great DPS boost for us.

The change with improved poisons should also boost the Mutilate Spec DPS with multiple target boss fights. Although the percentage help is very small, anything to help rebuild stacks of Deadly poison on a target is welcome!

Keep it coming Blizz!

We have fun with food! Watch the video on how world renowned photographer Carl Warner and his team have transformed London’s iconic skyline into an edible healthy foodscape using no fewer than 20 different types of fruit and vegetables ranging from green beans to the exotic citrus fruit kumquats. Big Ben is made with slices of citrus fruit while an edible version of The Houses of Parliament is created with a mix of asparagus, green and runner beans subtly mixed with baby sweetcorn to depict the intricate stonework of the political landmark. The finished artwork took Carl Warner and his team of five model makers three weeks to craft, construct and compile. Challenges they faced included how to keep the fresh and highly perishable fruit and vegetables looking their best for the final image and which types of produce would compliment the grandeur of the iconic buildings. One of London’s most popular tourist attractions St Paul’s Cathedral, has been given a modern day food makeover, with the spire being created from roundels of carrot, yellow and green courgette and baby leeks. The famous dome designed by Christopher Wren in the 17th century, has been transformed through the use of a melon, while the impressive columns have been crafted out of baby sweetcorn.

A device to help people sleep goes on sale today, thanks to a young inventor’s restless nights. Kate Evans, 25, designed the Light-Sleeper to beat her insomnia as a student. Trials were so successful it is being considered by the NHS, which has spent £36million on sleeping pills this year – a 20% annual rise. The £125 device moves a soothing blue light across the ceiling. Kate said: “It moves your eyes along a line, relaxing your brain. “This helps you drift off. Reading a book can make you more alert but this makes you switch off. It’s the first device that offers a simple, drugfree and natural way of falling asleep for those who find it hard.” Sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley, who has tested it, said: “This could really help people who have difficulty relaxing.”

Kate dreamed it up while studying product design at Central Lancashire university, gaining a first-class degree. Her invention was taken up by innovation firm Quincom, which has large orders for it from Japan. Kate, a design director of the firm in Oxford, said: “I used to suffer from insomnia and sleep only three hours a night. “I was shocked to find how many people have such problems and how big the market is for sleeping pills. There was a big need for an alternative.” The device is on sale at lightsleeper.co.uk and Boots.com plans to market it.

A young mother who abandoned her four young children to go on a 24-hour drink and drug binge avoided jail today. Rebecca Stevenson, 22, left her two sons and two daughters, aged between three months and four years, home alone to fend for themselves. It was with ‘merciful good luck’ that none of the children was seriously injured through her ‘absolute dereliction’ of duty, Preston Crown Court heard. Sentencing her to a 20-week jail term, suspended for two years, Judge Norman Wright said it was ‘an appalling state of affairs’ that she had preferred to satisfy her own personal gratification rather than care for her children. Child welfare campaigners reacted with disbelief after Stevenson escaped a jail sentence. Claude Knight of children’s charity, Kidscape, said: ‘The important message should be that the safety and welfare of children must come first and that anyone who puts them at grave risk could face a custodial sentence. ‘It is not clear how a 20 week suspended sentence will help this young woman to understand the potentially tragic consequences of this type of dereliction of duty and responsibility as a parent. ‘She will need to attend parenting classes and will require much support if she is ever to care for her children again.’ Stevenson said she put her children to bed at 8.30pm one evening in July this year and proceeded to drink a bottle of wine before further indulging in cider and cocaine when friends called round to her house. Then in ‘a moment of madness’ she told the court she left the children to their own devices as she went out to a house party. She later carried on drinking throughout the day at various pubs in the town before returning home at 10.30pm the following day. Steven Wild, prosecuting, said the children were discovered at 10am that day when the defendant’s stepfather called round to the property in Abraham Street. The eldest daughter was leaning out of the lounge window, was rain-soaked and had clearly been crying, he said. After climbing through the window he saw Stevenson’s ‘hysterical’ one-year-old son in his cot upstairs. The youngster was soaked in urine as was a three-month-old boy who was also covered in sick in his cot. An attempt had been made by the four-year-old girl to feed the baby after the children used dining room chairs to climb up to a kitchen cupboard and reach a tin of milk powder. ‘There were kitchen knives and sharp objects on the sofa which were within reach of the children,’ Mr Wild added. ‘It is not clear how a 20 week suspended sentence will help this young woman to understand the potentially tragic consequences of this type of dereliction of duty and responsibility as a parent’ The youngsters are now in the care of their grandparents with Stevenson allowed only supervised visits. Judge Wright told a tearful Stevenson: ‘This was an appalling state of affairs. You left four children ranging from the ages of three months old to four years old to fend for themselves. ‘We have all seen and been amused by Hollywood’s Home Alone, of a much older child, but the consequences of children as young as these being left to fend for themselves are too dreadful to think about. ‘The kitchen was a potential timebomb in terms of potential injury to children who were left unsupervised. ‘They were left to fend for themselves because you had decided to go out for your own personal gratification, drinking and taking drugs. ‘You went out and they were left alone and you should realise that with young children they come first.’The message has to go out to other people in this predicament that if they do this there will be a custodial sentence.’ He said she had failed to communicate her difficulties to the various agencies, but it was ‘merciful good luck’ that no serious injuries were caused to the children. ‘It is a absolute and complete dereliction of your duty as the sole carer,’ the judge said. ‘I, like other members of the public, will be horrified at what happened but it is right that you do not have the care of your children and if you ever have them again it will be because you have had to prove yourself over a significant amount of time that you are fit to care for them.’ The judge lifted reporting restrictions on naming the defendant in the interests of ‘open justice’.

The children were discovered at Stevenson’s house in Blackburn

Nice!!

Stevenson pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to four counts of child cruelty. The judge also imposed an eight-week curfew in which she will be not be allowed to leave her home between the hours of 8pm and 6am. Richard Bennett, defending Stevenson, said she was a 22-year-old with four young children by three different fathers who had found her life ‘extremely difficult and distressful’. He said: ‘There can be no doubt that this young woman was under a great deal of stress. ‘She was depressed because of the break-up of her long-term relationship with the father of the two boys.’ The two-year relationship had ended eight months before she committed the offences, he said. In a letter to the judge, which was read out to the court, Stevenson explained that she was pregnant when she found out her partner had cheated on her. That partner went on to marry her love rival around the time she gave birth to her youngest son, she added. During the pregnancy she was told there was a chance the baby could be born with Down’s Syndrome but that did not happen. ‘Luckily all was well in the end but it had a bad effect on my mental state,’ she said. Mr Bennett continued: ‘The defendant, in a moment of madness, simply walked out the front door and ended up in a drinking session while the children had happily been discovered the following morning. ‘She did not arrive back on the scene until about 10.30pm the following night.’ The case comes after figures released in the wake of the Baby P scandal revealed a shocking rise in child neglect. Two serious case reviews – inquiries launched following the death of a child where abuse or neglect are suspected – have been launched every week over the past six months.

Yesterday, contractors came by and installed a cedar fence in our backyard. It’s beautiful. And it smells good. It’s odd to look out the window and not see the ugly alley bramble and graffiti across the way.

Also, yesterday I broke down and checked out WordPress for Dummies. I hate the Dummies series (although Pregnancy for Dummies is the best unironic title ever), but it was the only WordPress book available at the moment–and it was immediately useful.

The Internet is great. I love being able to type a query into the Google Search Bar on Firefox and find information. But sometimes the disorganized glut retrieved (especially when searching for information about open source applications like WordPress) can make finding what I want more time consuming than the actual work itself. Books, on the other hand, are simple and direct. I open my book, check the table of contents or index, and then flip to the section I need. It’s all laid out nicely in one place; I don’t have to go clicking around from site to site, bookmarking and opening new tabs as I go so that I don’t lose anything.

Anyway, while sitting at the front desk at the library, I immediately found a section on using WordPress as a CMS, and I read the section that walks you through editing the .php file for pages. Within a couple minutes I had erased the sidebar (for now) and fixed some of the fonts on a newly installed theme (Maiden Voyage). Besides changing the flowers in the header to a panoramic photo of the library, I think we’ll be using the current theme; the soft green and yellow just look like West Slope. Honestly, if I were designing it from scratch myself, the site would probably use the same palette. One thing I’m not sure of, though, is whether or not to include the credit to the theme creator if I end up making significant changes to it. At what point is it no longer theirs? I’m sure there are hundreds of forum pages dedicated to this discussion.

But that’s it for now, dear non-existent reader. The site is progressing, and I’ll hopefully be able to devote more time to it in December and have it finished before the end of the year. And we’ve got a fence now and birds are on the feeder, so life is good otherwise.

As I get older, I appreciate a participating in conversations with older, well to do women. I think

As I get older, I appreciate a participating in conversations with older, well to do women. I think they bring on another perspective, a wisdom that some of the ladies my age is clearly missing. Well a certain situation came up in our little conversation that I just had to address. Taking on a man’s name who you are not married to…Tisk, tisk, tisk. Theres one thing I really hate in this world and that’s a dumb chick. There is this teacher/consultant/real estate agent who live in Atlanta who started to have an affair with an ex-athlete. The wife at the time decided to be strong and leave the man because of his infidelity.

Clearly, the man started to turn his mistress into his leading lady (some fellas never learn, you can’t turn a ho’ into a housewife but you know how that story always go). Anywho, the mistress was so jealous of the ex-wife that she decided to change her name by adding on his last name. Now remind you, they are not married at all. They do have a child (and don’t try to tell me maybe she want them all to have the same last name because that is some crock of bull if I ever heard of it), they live together, yet he hasn’t married her although he is now divorced.

What’s the problem with this? The problem is he isn’t your husband. You done went and took on a man’s name who doesn’t belong to you. Ladies, we have to stop pushing things that are not meant to be. My father always taught me that if a man wants you to be his wife, he will make you his wife. Hyphenating your name to match his is clearly a mistake and a dumb one at that. The sad thing about this educated woman is that she really believes she is married to this man. She walks around Atlanta telling people they are married yet when you check the Atlanta records of legal marriages, their union is nowhere to be found. The only thing that is found is her certificate of name change. This is sad! Have some self-esteem ladies because this is just sick and obsessive. I think the first step on finding a good man is having self-realization; being able to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not. Hyphenating your name when you are not married is a sick attempt to look like you belong to someone. You have to belong to yourself and keep your identity (because changing your name is like changing your identity). I love my man Cas, but I won’t become a Francis until he makes me one.

Ladies, it’s about to be 2010 and we must not fall for the okie doke and do this to ourselves. Stop falsifying facts in your head! t’s only going to lead to a unhappy place in your mind. The sad thing is, this woman has a daughter. UM, UM, UM, I am really shaking my head. What are your thoughts? Would you take on a man’s name who you wasn’t married to? Talk About It!

First off, if anyone reading this can grow a mustache, head over to Movember to grow a sexy tash to support Prostate Cancer, or donate money to my friend Dave who is doing just that! I have already sponsored him for his courageous efforts, and I hope you will think this is a worthy cause with a fun way of going about things. If I could grow a beard I would…

For a while now I have been umming and ahhing about buying a full sized Blythe doll. I went a bit mad over them last year but didnt actually buy one. I have a book about them and a pack of postcards, but not the real thing. It cant be that hard to pick one and buy it can it!? Anyway, this one really caught my attention. One like this would be great…

Some people think they are hideous or scary, but I love their big eyes and rosy cheeks. I have never been one for liking china dolls, having some as a child at night I would have to make sure they were not facing me. And I hate ventriloquist dummies…with the flapping mouths! Horrible!

I also found these amazing shelving units, designed by Thomas Wold. I would love to have something similar in my house one day. He seems to find broken and unused furniture and puts it all together in a very interesting way. I really like the colours too.

I have almost finished Batman: Arkham Asylum on the Xbox 360. I personally think it is a great game. I havent wanted to session a game for a long while and I have really gone to town on this already. 85% of all the Riddler quests completed and almost finished the storyline quests. Go team! And how HOT is Poison Ivy in this game… wowee!

Today Ryan took a half day off work, and we went to Rochester High Street to get Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising from the postoffice because I missed the delivery the other day. It also came with a t-shirt and a carabina torch… all of which I won on VGR Forums. I also bought some new fat-quarters of some very cute fabrics from Home Town, in Rochester, and a book called ‘Material Obsession’ by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke, ao that I can finally learn how to quilt properly. That will use up all the fat-quarters I have stored; I shall include photos tomorrow. We got a Subway for lunch, and I answered a questionnaire about why I was in Rochester for some small school girls. I also went to town a bit on ebay last night, purchasing a whole load of buttons and ribbons to stock up with. Cant wait for them to arrive in the post!

Work tonight and tomorrow night, and then my parents are coming over Sunday for a meal to celebrate my birthday. It is actually on Thursday, but they are unable to come for a meal that day. I am starting to feel slightly old! I know I shouldnt…

Surfing around the net this morning, in a frantic bid to catch up on my reading – a technical generalist’s job is ever shifting – I found some sites that offer tools and information that I just HAD TO SHARE, because let’s face it – when you find a treasure that is FREE, you ought to share the wealth! And these tools are FREE, no requirements to join something or sign up for something – just plain old free.

My fave of today is at: MakeUseOf.com. This particular posting has 15 .pdf manuals to download that range from Audiophile guides to free music and services, to Linux for Dummies. Literally something for everyone there, and all concise and well-written.

A service that my co-worker, Afsheen, turned me on to is SocialOomph.com – it is not a pretty site, nor is it especially easy to navigate – BUT – it allows you to automate some of the Twitter activities that busy professionals might like – for example – you can set an automated thanks for a follow; you can set to automatically follow people who follow you; and most brilliantly of all – you can set up scheduled Tweets! That is what I call ROCK AND ROLL!

If you are looking for a free alternative to Photoshop, check out Photoscape it is freeware with lots of power. Not completely as versatile as Photoshop, but for the amateur – it is a pretty powerful tool – and allows photo collage and layering.

I will post stuff as I find it – drop me a line if you are looking for something in particular and if I stumble on it in my virtual travels, I’ll share!

So we’re aaalllll taking a Quickbooks for Dummies class. Not that any of us are Dummies. No, we are not. BUT we are ignorant in the ways of Quickbooks and how-will-we-ever-make-this-transition

So we have a great teacher. She knows her stuff and is cool. We’re taking classes at a local vo-tech school, taught by a woman who runs a welding business. Yes, I know, girl power. I’m happy

Oh, and did I mention I ate a tuna salad sandwich from the gas station? Yes, I did. Don’t tell my husband. I believe that my will can overpower germs and bacteria. But that’s another story for another time.
