Currently working with the Primary Teaching Students, they have chosen their animation ideas and are now developing those ideas into something concrete. Ms Beattie is working on the idea of a growing tree that gets destroyed through harmful human acts. The tree is a symbol for world harmony. Ms Beattie’s ideas were great, though may be too large to complete in the short time that she has. I took a little time out to animate an example of how I would tackle her animation to let her and others see that ideas can be laid down quickly and effectively. Stop animation does not necessarily have to take a long time for it to be attractive and successful.

BUFFALO, NY – November 11, 2009 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Dunlop Motorcycle Tire

BUFFALO, NY – November 11, 2009 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Dunlop Motorcycle Tires proudly supports amateur motocross racing in the United States, and we are pleased to announce that we are stepping up our level of assistance in a number of ways.

As usual, Dunlop personnel will be on hand at major national amateur-racing events to assist Dunlop competitors with their tire needs, and we will also sponsor the Live Timing system at this year’s Winter National Olympics, also known as the Mini O’s. This Live Timing access will give amateur racing enthusiasts across the U.S. and around the world the opportunity to view timing, scoring and race results as they are recorded and will be featured online throughout the week of Winter National Olympics competition. In addition to online support, Dunlop is also making race results and times available trackside at the Winter National Olympics, sponsoring the distribution of results to riders, families and fans.

“Dunlop has sponsored this great Live Timing program at national events previously and we were very pleased with the results,” said Dunlop Motorcycle Tires Vice President Mike Buckley. “We are pleased to extend our support to the Winter National Olympics, a fantastic venue for amateur motocross competition. Dunlop is on the ground at amateur racing competitions around the country all year supporting young riders and their families via the Dunlop Tire Support Program, but there are many family members, friends and enthusiasts who can’t make it to the event for the whole five days, so this program can keep people plugged in.”

Transponders will be fitted to every race bike and the data recorded will instantly be viewable on the Web site. The online timing system is easily accessible and means nobody has to miss any of the action packed racing that we have seen all year. It doesn’t matter where people are in the world, anyone will be able to get online and watch the racing results as they happen. Live timing for the Mini Winter National Olympics will be displayed at http://www.tracksideresults.com/dunlopminio/ during the entire event.

In addition, Dunlop is adding a new level of support at the Winter National Olympics as the presenting sponsor of Motoplayground’s EVERYONE race coverage at the Winter National Olympics. This includes sponsorship of the Motoplayground Today show featuring interviews, race action and more that is broadcast daily during the Winter National Olympics at www.motoplayground.com as well as daily email blasts to Motoplayground subscribers. This exciting coverage extends through the full week of racing at the Winter National Olympics as well as re-cap coverage during the week following the event.

“Motoplayground’s EVERYONE race coverage offers yet another way to enhance the exposure given to amateur racing during the Winter National Olympics, and we are pleased to lend this additional level of support to our sport,” said Buckley.

Doing things is expensive. And quite often, hassle. As my mission for squash recommences “Staffordshire-style”, there are a few things that are rather instrumental to the game, that I’m required to buy.

So to the High Street I go, shopping list in hand. The main focus of my attention is obviously, sports shops and this is a problem in itself. Ten years ago, you’d walk into most sports retailers and you’re more than likely to find what you’re looking for. My first mistake was thinking that the curiously named ‘JD Sports’ actually sold sporty things.

Tracksuits and Burberry aside, I scoured both floors and not so much as a tennis ball or golf bag in sight. Nike, Adidas and Puma aplenty, but if they don’t stock footballs then me coming across any sort of squash paraphernalia is extremely unlikely.

A degree of luck in the more appropriately named, ‘JJB Sports’. They actually had a selection of rackets, randomly spread across the ‘Racket Section’ of their first floor. But none that I liked. Prince is my weapon of choice, and I know just enough about them to not be swayed by a £19.99 thing that felt like waving bamboo.

My final attempt was Adidas Sport. Not because I’d had enough and was giving up (quite), but surprisingly that was all the store’s Hanley has to offer.

Approaching this store I feel the same sense of trepidation I began to develop back in ‘JD’, but surprisingly I struck gold. Pack of 3 double-dot Dunlop squash balls for £3.99 – nice. A second pack of balls, this time single-dot (purchased with the aim to inspire beginner friends into joining me), also £3.99. Squash rackets however, not so much luck. Not a single Prince in stock.

This means online shopping, which will further push back my participation in Stoke-on-Trent squash.

Also, with getting to clubs a major turn off for me last year, I put my hand in my pocket for a pair of tracksuit bottoms, so jogging/walking won’t be quite so unpleasant. Special offer £9.99 – win.

I have since purchased a racket on website: SportDiscount.com – a lovely looking Prince specimen for the ‘princely’ sum (sorry) of £65 with free p&p. For anyone interested, I’ve used them before and would definitely recommend some of their special offer So a total of £80+ to get back in the game… I suppose I’ll have to make a point of getting my money’s worth now. Thank you overdraft card.

For one of the first times in my life, I was nervous. Had to park the ‘King in the city on Ha

For one of the first times in my life, I was nervous. Had to park the ‘King in the city on Halloween. Figured I’d pony up and pay for parking (totally against my sense of will!), and I did.

Riding in from the house was smooth and easy. With the lady on the back, those sexy jumps the Stage II kit provides were what kept the bike sporty feeling when pulling away from a stop, heading uphill, or striking out on those highway straights. Constantly happy and relieved I went for it.

We took the turnpike, heading north toward the Holland tunnel about 1 in the afternoon on Saturday. I drifted upwards of 70mph in fifth gear. It was effortless. And with the road open and the sun bright overhead, I put it in 6th and let it rip.

The little green ‘6′ light doesn’t come on until you’ve fully released the clutch lever, and then there’s a tiny delay still before the bike really knows it’s in 6th.

I realized I forgot to put the windshield back on as I tore past 100mph and then past 110mph. It was almost scary how still-effortless it was. My mind flashed to the rating of the tires – the Dunlops might not be rated for such speeds and might blow off or something. I had no idea. But I dismissed it because I just had to know what was there. The needle crept up and the road sunk away. 115mph. The ease with which I cranked the throttle and felt the bike fall forward was the same ease it would be to step off the edge of a cliff. It was just right there, easy as pie. Too far forward and you’re done.

But once 115mph felt safe, I stayed there. Lord, that’s fast. And call me nuts, but I had the widest grin on my stupid mug as I rolled through the curves. It was smooth! It was fast! It was FLYING!

That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?

Parked in an Icon garage – little orange circle logo with the arrow.

DO NOT WANT.

It was a remarkable rip-off. I guess that’s what I get for being paranoid. I’ll park on the street like normal from now on. I spend so much on insurance, why the hell should I be worried?

Rode to dinner, parked on the street – sat by the window, obviously. Even with all the drunks in the east village, no one touched the bike. It was very reassuring. Like it’s a different city than it was 10 years ago, somewhat.

(Side note: FU is my favorite sushi – so, so fresh and good! Seems to have hit his stride and isn’t as generous as he was, and service is a little slow, but the food quality is still top-notch and the other bits are the reason it’s affordable.)

Then the rain came, about 9 or 930, and I had to ride (solo – the girls hopped in a cab to get their costumes ready while the boys hung back and ordered more food) in that rain. I’ll admit to apprehension. I had all my gear on, it wasn’t a cold night so the wetness wasn’t uncomfortable, it was a short ride (11th st to 95th st … maybe half hour?), and it was familiar roads. Still…how does the King handle in wet wet wet world?

The Road King Classic is like a pig in shit, that’s how it handles.

Can I say that again? Mothers, put the kids to bed.

My FLHRC made the FDR its BITCH as I streaked through the rain.

Wow, again, just wow. When will the WOW’ing stop??

Within just a few moments, I was dazzled by how smooth the ride was. That 850lbs was working for me. Puddles the size of taxicabs were no problem. Those generous floorboards actually shielded my feet/ankles very well – had no idea, was planning on getting soaked (had extra socks and everything). The suspension was undaunted by the shit-ton of pot holes on that strip of war road.

Told you it was a war road.

Anyhow … I made it without issue. It was genuinely a good ride.

The next day was a day like any other. I got over my fear of parking on the street (whereas with the Volusia I happily parked on sidewalks, under scaffolds, at construction sites, at hydrants, etc) and left the Harley on a broad sidewalk across the street from some detention center near the water.

Riding home in the late afternoon on Sunday, it was much colder than coming in with the sun. I couldn’t help cranking up to 115mph-ish, but then settled into a solid 95 and coasted home.

Probably due to the lower ambient temperatures, there was no pinging when I parked this weekend. I suppose I might make it through the winter without having to get a proper tune, which is great because I don’t have any cash at the moment and I don’t know what to get anyway.

Reading up on exhaust, I think i’ll experiment with the baffles in the SuperTrapp. New discs are cheap, and a few more discs might up performance – a few less might up the noise. Very cool, will have to trial-and-error it.

I might also drill out the baffles – I have my mint stock pipes still so I can always throw them on in answer to a fix-it-ticket.

And, y’know, I might spend this saturday drilling out the cat. I’ve got blueballs for a good roar or a solid idle. Supid EPA.

When I used to ride and race as a schoolboy, long, long ago – I kept a cycling scrapbook/notebook. I discovered it a little while ago when clearing out my loft and found that I had meticulously detailed my bike and its components.

The first thing that struck me was that this was in pre-Shimano days; there were no japanese components whatsoever. The next thing was the number of British bits – the Brookes B17 saddle to the GB bars, stem and toeclips.

But then I was struck by the names that seem to have disappeared – have they gone completely or just slipped below the radar?

My wheels were Fiamme on Campag… Fiamme rims, are they still around? GB components I mentioned above, but what about the rear mech… it was a Simplex, a nylon (plastic) unit. Yes, a lot cheaper than the near ubiquitous Campag Record, but still used by some TDF teams – where are they now?

My riding around tubs were Kowalit Komets, but on the track I used Dunlop cottons. Stronglight cranks are still around, but what about the TA rings?

Wilson Racquets Over Rated? The choice of a racket is a personal thing yet many consumers buy racket

Wilson Racquets Over Rated?

The choice of a racket is a personal thing yet many consumers buy rackets because of the brand name. It’s hard to say why Wilson racquets have gained such a large market share but it is likely due to fashion. Tim Henman and Roger Federer suggest Djokovic’s switch away from Wilson rackets to Head Youtek Racquets is a risky move however it takes time to adjust to a new racket. Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal, and Dinara Safina do not use Wilson rackets and have played very well. Safina has managed to rise above the Williams sisters in WTA rankings. Kim Clijsters seems to be happy with her Babolat racket.

Could it be that many players are lured to the Wilson brand and see their play suffer? Having played with Wilson racquets and played terribly with them, I can see how a player’s game could suffer by trying to adapt to their racquets. Wilson appears to cater to highly competitive level tennis players and these rackets do not deliver the type of power and sweet spot size that club level players need. New racket technology by Head (Head Microgel)in particular is providing the same level of control that any Wilson K6 provides yet adds some power. For many club players, pin point control isn’t an issue. Many of these players, particularly older and female players lack sufficient power and pop in their strokes. The power in these rackets makes them more effective in club doubles play. The Wilson branding juggernaut may be causing the Wilson preference but it may not be good for the game. Players should use the racket that is appropriate for their style of play. Just check out Do IT Tennis’ RacketPro racket selection tool and you’ll see how many factors there are to consider.

Racket Selection Tool

This helps players recognize their style and performance needs and tones down the brand aura that can make them buy a racket that doesn’t work for them. Not having the right racket can be a serious loss of fun for young players too, so youngsters need to avoid their parent or coaches brand preference. If Tennis isn’t fun, kids won’t play.

Just in case kalau bocor kena paku dijalan, langsung ditambal sendiri.

Ndilalah seorang rekan, ban tubeless motornya, Yamaha MX135, kena paku beton.

Begini prosesnya:

Paku dicabut menggunakan tang.

Tusuk bekas lubang paku dengan pen kikir. Gerakkan maju mundur 2-3 kali. Kayak Miyabi.

Siapkan karet penambal di jarum penusuk.

Cabut pen kikir, masukkan segera karet kedalam ban.

New Crew Chief, Ray Atchley, put together a test plan that yielded noticeable gains in rider, Greg G

New Crew Chief, Ray Atchley, put together a test plan that yielded noticeable gains in rider, Greg Gorman’s, performance at Palm Beach International Raceway. Suspension adjustments and the addition of a quick-shifter dropped Greg’s times from 1:20-1:21 to 1:19-1:20 with a new personal best for Greg of 1:19.321.

Even though Greg improved, so did the rest of the field. In Expert GTO, Greg chased the battling pair of Lars Remsen and Chris Boy. Greg tried to take advantage of their battle on lap three of the nine lap race but ran wide in turn 10 and was unable to get close enough to make another attack. Greg finished 6th.

“I got a good double draft coming down the back straight and stayed to the left of the track when Lars pulled out to pass Chris on the right. Lars made the pass and started drifting back left on a collision course with me. I made the decision to let off the brakes a bit and go by him to avoid the collision. I ran wide and lost about a second. I gained some ground back but I was never able to get closer than about a half a second.”

Unlimited SuperSport brought a better result with a 5th place that was improved to 4th place after 3rd place Chis Boy failed to show for technical inspection after the race.

“We change tires for this race and they’re a bit different. I was getting a lot more front end chatter going into the corners with these tires. I was pushing, but so was everyone else. I got into 5th and tried to make up the time but it just wasn’t happening.”

The Unlimited Superbike was red flagged on the last lap due to an accident involving the third place expert, Gus Sanchez, and an amateur rider, Isidro Castillo, who was being lapped by the leaders. Gus didn’t crash but received a deep bruise to his bicep which made contact with Isidro’s left clip-on. Isidro crashed into an unprotected wall and at last word was listed in critical condition. The Team hopes for the best for Isidro. Greg was credited with 5th place.

“Dwyer, Barnes, and Sanchez took off I was behind Lars and wasn’t gaining on him at all. He was just a bit faster than me all weekend. After we got the white flag, I was going through turn 2 and the corner workers were just starting to take action for Isidro in turn 3. Where he hit the wall is a very odd place. But after hearing Gus’ story, I understand how he got there. Get well, Isidro.”

The last race of the day is the Shootout. Eight racers took to the track and quickly split into four groups. Dwyer and Barnes were running 1:16 lap times. Just behind them was the pair of Sanchez and Thomas Puerto running 1:17s. Further back was Remsen and Gorman in the 1:19s, Delvalle and Keesee in the 1:20s. Greg finished 6th.

“I wheelied off the start again. That hasn’t been happening for awhile and the last time was because the clutch was going bad so I’ll have to look into that. I was last into turn one behind Delvalle. I knew he and I were close on laptimes so I took the first chance I got to pass him which was at turn 4. I was in hot and I pushed him wide but if I didn’t get him there it probably wasn’t going to happen. Next was Keesee in turn 6. I waited for him to turn in but his turn in was much later than I expected and I ran way wide. I was quite surprised Delvalle wasn’t there to re-pass me. Keesee then missed a gear or something because I passed him quite easily on the short straight to turn 7. Then I spent the rest of the race trying to close in on Lars, which I did but then made too many mistakes to really make anything of it. Good race though.”

High Def video of the Unlimted GP race can be viewed on Youtube.

“Really, this was a very good weekend for us even though the results don’t quite show it. I was in the 19s in every race and set a new personal best. I really have to thank Ray for his hard work on the bike and Susan, my wife, for all of her hard work and putting up with me.”

The Way to Happiness Racing Team, races again at Daytona on October 16th, 17th and 18th. The last race of the season will be at Homestead-Miami Speedway December 5th and 6th.
