Most people spend enough time worrying about where to store valuables and other personal belongings in their homes. However, these people usually find dark corners of the house such as basements or perhaps the ever popular hidden cabinet that nobody else knows about. DVD Storage is a problem that some people end up with and that may be considered one of the least common storage problems that people have. However, with the emerging popularity of DVDs, the problem is growing. Keeping in mind that we could exchange the word “problem” for “annoyance”, the DVD storage “annoyance” tends to mix in with the rest of our storage problems. Where do, dvd, we store those extra CDs? Where do we store those extra books?

We can often throw books into bags or boxes and CD’s can, dvd, be stored in cases (referring to traveling cases, not the jewel cases) or can even be stored in the same way as, dvd, books. Many people also sell, dvd, off their old CDs as they seem to become outdated a lot faster than DVDs, dvd, . This is where the DVD storage dilemma takes effect.

Now that we have pinpointed our dilemma, how do we solve it? Well finding DVD storage space really is not brain surgery if you put a little effort into searching for a few items. One such item is a home entertainment center cabinet with LOTS of storage space. Many cabinets come with a variety of compartments, dvd, in order to hold all of the entertainment center equipment.

Perhaps you only have a, dvd, TV and a DVD player and do not require some of the compartment space. In, dvd, that case, you can store your DVDs in that empty space. Also, many entertainment center cabinets come with compartments especially for storing DVDs or VHS tapes. Therefore, you can pile, dvd, much of your DVD collection into this compartment, dvd, .

Some furniture companies, dvd, manufacture, dvd, large storage towers for the purpose of storing DVDs or CDs. These are very beneficial to consumers because they offer a massive amount of, dvd, storage space as opposed to the smaller compartments found in entertainment center units. These towers, dvd, range in price and size. They can also vary in design from the free-standing tower that you simply place up against the wall, to the hanging tower that can actually hang from the wall.

Finally, a smaller version of the same item may suit your fancy instead. Simple CD towers can also, dvd, be used to store CDs. They are often manufactured from metal or wood and are quite smaller than the larger towers that were discussed above. These storage towers normally max out at about 1 meter high, dvd, and are extremely compact for storage, dvd, in smaller areas. There are also quite a bit easier on, dvd, the pocketbook.

Finding storage space for your personal,, dvd, dvd, belongings can be tough. When it comes to DVDs, consumers will be pleased, dvd, to know that they have options and that they do not have to rid themselves of their classic collection for lack of storage space.

Have you seen the trailer for the new Disney, the Princess and the Frog? Reviews from the other side of the ocean have been unanimous: Disney Studios have once again create a beautiful princess but this time with a more modern twist. From the director of Aladin and the Little Mermaid, the music is jazzy and makes your feet dancing! I can’t wait to show this movie to my little A. She is a big fan of the Disney movies and her favorite is the Lion King.

Disney Films are most of the time a safe bet to buy as a Christmas present but probably the old ones rather than the latest ones. We have just bought Snow White in Blu-Ray and it was a real pleasure to rediscover it as I must have been very very young when I saw it for the first time. I will probably bring over the film to my parents as the new edition has also a normal DVD included as well.

The Lion King will have the Blu-Ray version in January 2010 so I will be probably one of the first to line up in front of HMV and buy the movie. I have already saved money for this one!

If you don’t have Blu-Ray, you are quite lucky because you don”t have to wait to fill your Disney Collection. I have been waiting for their offer (buy one get one free) but I was disappointed because most of the films on the offers were the ones who had the less success.

Author: Source: articledashboard.com I believe, dvd, that many family have to have one or more colle

Author:
Source: articledashboard.com

I believe, dvd, that many family have to have one or more collection of, dvd, DVD or VCD movies of their favourite choice in the home, more or less. As we know that there is no one who never see or enjoy their favourite movie even, dvd, form very young kids to elder adults. And of course, individual has their own favourite so, dvd,, dvd, every member in your family may have plenty of DVD collections. Therefore, some house may have to spare a massive space for these collection of DVDs for every members in the family and the DVDs disk themselves may get damage if it is used frequently, especially it is the DVDs of their favourite choice.

However, as the technology never stop developing and there are also evolution of development,,, dvd, dvd, dvd, for DVDs and movie storage. The digital-format movie has now turn the world of watching movie from a large theater far away from your house to deliver to you computer, dvd, screen by few clicks and as easy as your finger tips click on the mouse.

Also, movie DVD download software has also bee developed to help you o downloading quicker and effective in terms of managing you favourite download website.

So, dvd, there are few, dvd, important things that you need to be aware of before decide to buy any of download DVD movie video software as they have different feature such as apart from they will help, dvd, you to download quicker, they ma have a feature for copy and write those movie into DVDs discs

Firstly, you have to study which website provide, dvd, which different service scheme for customer, especially you favourite one so you can consider which kind of DVD movie download software you will choose with that website. Also be aware of choosing illegal website that offer unregistered movie because it’s against the copy right law. So you have to make sure that the website provide clearly, dvd, policy about copyright materials and they have to be an authorised company to sell those downloadable, dvd, movies.

There is no doubt that why you need those software to help you, it’s because you need constant download speed as well as the quality of the downloaded movie. You have to make sure that is offers constant speed as well as good quality of the movies once the download complete,, dvd, why bother if you use the software, dvd, that give you as same quality as you watching movies from VHS tape. However as technology developed a lot and we hardly find any of movie DVD download software that reduce the quality, dvd, of the movie be still good to be ware of as you may accidentally find it.

Many movie DVD download software now let you to try the services first just before you decide whether to buy it. The trial period range from thirty days up to few, dvd, months in which they give you ample time to use the software at no extra cost. In this way, you will know, dvd, how it really works and if they are sufficient.

Apart, dvd, form the quality of the, dvd, movie, you have to make sure that the movie output in terms of speed and accuracy of the movie are still maintained as original copy. I have found many of movie DVD download software failed to maintain movie transition once it has complete the download. The speed also important, even though it still much depends on the connection speed, but good movie DVD download software will help you to maintain the maximum speed when downloading.

A friend asked me today, “how do i get started? Is it expensive? Any insider advice?”

A friend asked me today, “how do i get started? Is it expensive? Any insider advice?” I called him back and left a voice-mail and told him to call me back and we could talk…but I was so excited that I left my thoughts on the voice-mail anyway (i tend to leave a long voice mail every now and then, i suppose, just in case i never talk to you again, for some reason or another, i would like my message to get to you). Then i thought, this should be my next blog…it should have been the first, but, it wasn’t so, here it is…

I told him (Jason, thanks for the inspiration and questions) that i recommend he look into the Yoga studios in his neighborhood, really check out what’s all around (i never minded traveling for different Yoga experiences; different classes or different environments). Look at their schedules on line and see what sort of explanation of their classes they provide. That’s what i did. i soon found that there were a ton of different names out there and i quickly realized that i had no idea what was going on, so no real idea how to choose. it was one thing to see Power Yoga, or Flow Yoga, i could come up with some image on those. But what the heck is Anusara Yoga, or Ashtanga Yoga, or Hatha Yoga, or Himalayan Yoga, or Vinyasa Yoga, or, or, or??

Well, for starters, from what i understand, any sort of postures yoga; any physical yoga, exercise-type yoga is Hatha Yoga. So, all these other names, they are all types of Hatha Yoga, again, that is when it comes to doing postures (asanas). So, Anusara is a type of Hatha Yoga, same goes for Ashtanga and Himalayan and Vinyasa and so on and on. It gets confusing because once you think you know that, you come across a studio or center’s class schedule and they list Vinyasa Flow and Hatha Yoga and you thing, but wait?! what? i thought Vinyasa Flow was Hatha, what’s more Hatha about the Hatha class? augh. Nothing, at its core. But it does seem that when people call a class Hatha and not something else, its regular, basic, maybe a slower paced Yoga. Its a yoga with no bells and whistles. It doesn’t have a special “gimmick” or slogan, save for all the “slogans” that come along with all the ancient philosophies that are a part of all other Hatha yoga anyway.

it all makes more sense the more you do it and go to more classes and see that there are such a great many similarities. Some types have a certain series they follow, like Ashtanga. Some link every move with an inhale and an exhale, Vinyasa…but these are all fun research projects. i find that is it so great to get recommendations, but there is nothing like experiencing it all for yourself. So, as i was saying before, look up your local studios and check their schedules, if you would like further description of the types of classes they have, search them on the internet, it’s all out there. Then, or instead of that, call the studio or just go down there and be open and honest and ask them what they’d recommend for you. They will give you the best advice, because they know what they’ve set up there. I’ve been to studios where they offer Hatha 1, 2 and 3 level classes, and there’s really no difference. I’ve also been to studios where the difference is drastic, but i will say that of all the studios i’ve been to, no teacher has ever turned me away because i don’t have enough experience.

One of the great things about Yoga, is there are always modifications. So, even if you are in an advanced class because it was the only time that worked for you that day, if you tell the teacher, they will help you; they will offer modifications. Or, if you just get into a class that is proving hard for you, there’s always modifications, you can always go into a relaxation or easier pose to get your breath back. If you’re competing in Yoga, pushing yourself to an unsafe place, be that a place of physical pain or a place where your ego is getting the best of you and you are doing a pose in a way that is not good for you, you could hurt yourself; that is your ego pushing you to compete. This Yoga practice is such a great place to let go of your ego and do what’s best for you. My point is, no matter what class you go to, if you have a hard time, accepting that you need a break or a modification is highly respected and looked well on.

And by the way, everybody has hard days. You never know who you’re standing next to, so comparing is pointless. you might be standing next to a dancer who can do the splits all the ways, and you end up feeling jealous. what you might not know is though she’s in the splits, her mind is racing and she can’t get present. So, actually, doing the splits in Yoga is turning out to be hard for her. Calming the fluctuations of the mind is what we’re trying to do in Yoga too. So, remember, you are you, and you don’t share the same history as the person next to you. That’s why they say in Yoga, “start where you are”. There is no better place to start than now.

Is it expensive? It can be, sure…but the beauty about just starting is you have so much exploring to do and Yoga studios know that, so many of them give the first class for free. Many studios also offer, at a discounted rate, an unlimited week or month, for the first timer. that is how i started. It’s such a great idea that they do this, it gives you such a great chance to really experiece their style, or in some cases, many styles in one place. Some studios focus on one style, others will offer many styles. Again, this all turns out to make a lot of sense, once you start getting into it.

I also went to the library and got books on Yoga. It was so tempting to buy every book on Yoga I saw, but there are a million, from books on postures to books on different traditions and philosophies…i really recommend the library, you will save yourself a lot of money and if something just isn’t clickking with you, you won’t feel so bad; you’ll just return it. Also, check out the Yoga DVD’s at the library. Try doing it at home, then moving to a studio if you’re not comfortable going straight to the studio. It’s a nice idea to get a video before your first class anyway, so you can check out some of the poses and see what they’re called. Some teachers use the Sanskrit names, some translate them all to english, some mix. I mix, because i think it’s fun to speak of them in the language they came from, but i like to say the english translation too.

I had trouble getting to my first class, because of social anxiety issues; i was always nervous about walking into any new place the wrong way and looking the fool. The first Yoga class i actually went to was with my sister. She had started going to the studio down the street from where she lived. When she told me, i jumped at the chance to go with her; to go with a person who could walk be through the place; through the steps and help me to feel comfortable. That was all i needed, and from there, i’ve never had a problem walking into any studio or center, and for that matter, anywhere. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Yoga helps Yoga and that helps your whole life. It gives you the tools, physical and mental to keep it all up. And for that, i am so very thankful.

now get out there, if you need a buddy to go with, maybe it can be me. I’m in! and if you’d like a private class from me, e-mail me at kory.youyoga@gmail.com (i’m in the NW suburbs of Chicago, we’ll see what we can work out). the first one’s free, as they say.

Tom Hanks, left, plays symbologist Robert Langdon and Ayelet Zurer portrays physicist Vittoria Vetra

Tom Hanks, left, plays symbologist Robert Langdon and Ayelet Zurer portrays physicist Vittoria Vetra in the thriller “Angels & Demons.”

This week’s DVD releases cover a lot of territory. They include a family film from the director of “Spy Kids,” a holiday comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon, an Adam Sandler feature helmed by writer-director Judd Apatow and a big-budget thriller starring Tom Hanks.

Funny People
3 stars
DVD contains rated and unrated versions of the film. The rated version received an R for language and crude sexual humor throughout, and some sexuality
Universal
Available on: DVD and Blu-ray

There are enough funny people in writer-director Judd Apatow’s appropriately titled relationship dramedy to keep things interesting through the movie’s 155-minute run, but the filmmaker is awfully lucky he assembled the cast that he did.

Adam Sandler stars as George Simmons, a wildly popular actor-comedian who seems to have it all: Hit movies, a palatial Southern California home and the adoration of fans everywhere. But when Simmons learns he’s contracted a deadly disease that could very well end his life, he begins to question his place in the world, and he latches onto a fledgling comedian named Ira Wright (Seth Rogen) for support. Although funny, Ira is yet to perfect his standup routines, so he’s ecstatic when the veteran Simmons agrees to hire him as a personal assistant, and the two men quickly form an awkward but genuine friendship.

Apatow sets up the premise with style, and its interesting to watch Simmons, who is jaded and miserable, interact with George, who is still full of hope and excitement. Unfortunately, the movie takes a negative turn when Apatow leads us into a subplot built around the one big love (Leslie Mann) that George let slip away. Because Sandler and Rogen are a lot of fun to watch, and because they get good supporting performances from Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman, we can forgive Apatow for straying. Still, there’s little doubt that “Funny People” would have been funnier if it skipped the romantic stuff and put all its energy into George’s bout with mortality and his relationship with Ira.

The movie is available as part of multiple home video releases, including a two-disc Unrated Collector’s Edition. Extra features vary.

Angels & Demons: Extended Edition
2½ stars (out of four)
Unrated
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
Available on: DVD and Blu-ray

You have to give director Ron Howard credit for consistency. His adaptation of writer Dan Brown’s “Angels & Demons” shares precisely the same pace and tone as his earlier take on Brown’s bestseller “The DaVinci Code.” Trouble is, “The Da Vinci Code” movie is merely a workmanlike thriller, while the book was a breathtaking piece of genre fiction.

“Angels & Demons” is arguably a weaker novel, but I had higher expectations for the film because the plot is more cinematic. While “The Da Vinci Code” spent a lot of time focused on ancient codes and ciphers, “Angels” is a fast-paced footrace through the streets of Rome. As in “Da Vinci,” Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is at the center of the action.

Langdon is called upon by the Vatican when it appears that a secret society known as the Illuminati has surfaced and placed a devastatingly powerful bomb at the heart of Vatican City. Equally horrifying is a message claiming that four cardinals — the most likely successors to the just-deceased pope — have been kidnapped and will be publicly executed. The perpetrators have left hints as to when and where they will commit their nasty deeds, but they are steeped in historic riddles that only Langdon has the ability to decipher.

Intent on stopping the murders, he embarks on a desperate race to solve the riddles and beat the Illuminati at its sick game. He’s aided by the Vatican police, Swiss Guard and a beautiful physicist named Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer). Also helping is Camerlengo Patrick McKenna (Ewan McGregor) who — because of the pope’s death — is temporarily the lead authority at the Vatican.

Howard does a good job recreating the events depicted in the book, and Hanks captures the Robert Langdon spirit perfectly, all of which leaves us with a decent movie. Decent, but not great. What the film lacks is the breathlessness one feels while reading the novel. Yes, there are exciting moments on screen, but they are frequently countered by extended dialogue sequences that relieve much of the tension. Part of the trouble is that Brown’s plotting is complicated and cerebral, and it’s tough to condense that type of storytelling into a two-and-a-half hour movie. It can be done, but it takes an extraordinary effort, and everything about this film is painfully ordinary.

DVD extras include more than a half dozen making-of features, focused on everything from the adaptation of the novel to the film’s elaborate props.

Four Christmases
2½ stars
Rated PG-13 for some sexual humor and language
New Line Cinema
Available on: DVD and Blu-ray

With most DVD releases hitting stores less than six months after a film was released into theaters, it feels odd to get “Four Christmases” a full year after its theatrical run. But, clearly, New Line Cinema decided the video would attract more attention during the holiday season. The studio is probably right because, as a comedy, “Four Christmases” is slight, but there aren’t many holiday films to choose from, and it’s always nice to have something new to throw in alongside “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas.”

Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon star as Brad and Kate, a modern power couple that have never married and spend their holidays trying to dodge their fractured relations. Things go awry, however, when bad weather stops their planned flight to Fiji and a television news crew interviews them about the bad break. Suddenly, their parents — all divorced — are aware that they’re available for the holiday, forcing them to accept invitations to four separate Christmas celebrations … one with Brad’s crotchety father (Rober Duvall), one with Kate’s newly spiritual mother (Mary Steenburgen), one with Brad’s anything-goes mom (Sissy Spacek) and one with Kate’s surprisingly normal dad (Jon Voight).

Like “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” the film considers the stress of family gatherings, but never in a mean-spirited or distressing way, and Vaughn and Witherspoon are typically charming. “Four Christmases” is a generic comedy in every sense, but it has enough funny moments to make it viable for anyone who enjoys Vaughn and Witherspoon. The film will never replace “Miracle on 34th Street,” but it does go down awfully well with a nice glass of egg nog.

The DVD has no extra features.

Shorts
2½ stars
Rated PG for mild action and some rude humor
Warner Brothers
Available on: DVD and Blu-ray

In one of the more bizarre careers in film history, do-it-all filmmaker Robert Rodriguez regularly shifts between, ultra-violent action movies — “Planet Terror,” “Sin City,” “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” — and family friendly material — “Spy Kids,” “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.” “Shorts” falls into the latter category, telling the story of several children who discover a mysterious charm called a Wishing Rock. The kids soon learn that any wish made with the rock in hand will come true, leading to wild adventures with space aliens, upright crocodiles and even a booger monster.

All the craziness is set against the backdrop of the ultra-corporate world they call home. You see, the children’s parents work for a gigantic corporation run by a nasty CEO named Mr. Black (James Spader). Predictably, his kids, Helvetica (Jolie Vanier) and Cole (Devon Gearhart), are the town bullies.

Rodriguez chose to tell his story through a series of short films that are replayed out of order, leaving viewers to piece things together a little at a time. The most important player is Toby “Toe” Thompson (Jimmy Bennett), the narrator of the each piece.

“Shorts” is wild, wacky and childlike enough to appeal to most elementary school-age children. It is not, however, as carefully crafted as today’s better family films. Rodriguez’s plotting is so over-the-top, it seems he was focused solely on letting his inner child loose, forgetting that a great family picture also includes something for parents.

Along with the movie, the DVD includes one of Rodriguez’s “Ten Minute Film School” extras, this one focused on the making of “Shorts.” Also included is a “Ten Minute Cooking School” episode devoted to the making of Chocolate Chip Volcano Cookies.

In March 2006 I launched the UK DVD Rental Guide Website. The website is devoted to providing independent advice, reviews and rankings of the major providers of online DVD rental service in the UK. The idea for the website originated from my passion for DVD’s and from the difficulty of choosing the right online DVD rental service.

Online DVD rental is slowly but surely making its mark on the entertainment industry and is a powerful rival for its traditional highstreet alternative. The phenomenon of online DVD rental may ultimately replace the traditional form of DVD rental!

Author: John Dulaney
Source: articleage.com

If we take a look at the way the home video technology has progressed over the years, we will be amazed at the extent to which it has changed in such a short period. The VHS (Video Home System) technology brought motion pictures into our living rooms and bedrooms. It was followed by the CDs, VCDs, and SVCDs that were more expensive, but provided excellent quality and utility. This was followed by the DVDs and DVD players that took the market by storm and became the most preferred mode for recording and viewing, dvd, of movies. Most recently however,, dvd, the latest technology that has joined the race is HD DVD (High Definition Digital Video, dvd, Disc), that has much higher storage capacity and enhanced quality attributes, dvd, .
Correspondingly, there has been a similar evolution in the digital data storage and handling industry. This journey started with the floppy, followed by the CDs,, dvd, the laser discs, the DVDs, and then the HD DVDs. Data storage and handling are a field by itself and has grown at a phenomenal rate.
VHS
The first step towards home theater was the Video Home System (VHS), introduced in September 1976. It was developed by JVC along with some licensing agreements with Sony. The VHS is a recording and playing standard for the, dvd, Video Cassette Recorders, well known all over the world as the VCRs. The VHS could record and play back all the analog television signals in existence at the time it was devised. By today’s standards, it is one of the poorest quality video formats. The video recording cassette being, dvd, big, its recording camera was also big and cumbersome. This led to problems, dvd, of handling and transportation.
The VHS-C is the Video Home System-Compact, which is the same in quality as compared, dvd, to the standard VHS,, dvd, that is, half inch size and 240 lines, dvd, of resolution. But as the name suggests, it is more compact and allows for the video camera to be lighter, smaller, and more convenient. The VHS-C has to be placed in a regular VHS sized case to enable it to be, dvd, played on the VHS player. The 8mm VHS tapes are smaller in size and are very convenient to use in recording cameras, but are not compatible with the regular VCRs and cannot be played, dvd, directly on the VCRs.
CD and VCD
The Compact Disc (CD) is an optical disc that is read by a laser. It is a polycarbonate disc designed to store data, music and video formats. These were played on CD players and were of the CD-R and, dvd, CD-RW type in particular. It was designed by Philips and Sony in 1988. In 1993, Matsushita, Philips, Sony, and JVC introduced a CD format that could hold a full- motion video. It was called the Video CD (VCD) or the compact disc digital video and had a standard digital format for storing video on a compact disc. These VCDs could be played on VCD players and computers. A video CD can hold VHS-quality video of 74 minutes and has a CD-quality sound using MPEG-1 compression. The VCDs were very popular in the Asian countries due, dvd, to their affordability factor, but did not get much popularity in the U.S. or Europe.
The low cost, dvd, of media resulted in rampant unauthorized copying of movies and was hence not widely supported by the United States entertainment fraternity. The Super Video CD introduced later using the MPEG-2 compression was of better quality, but its playing time got diminished to 35 minutes. A DVDV or double VCD had also been designed, in which, a regular CD was ‘Over-burned’ to incorporate 100 minutes, dvd, of video.
DVD and HD DVD
The DVDs came into the market in 1997 and were an instant success. This was mainly because of the reason, that even their cheapest version, dvd, was capable of giving a better picture and sound quality than a VHS, and could process information much more effectively than CDs. With a DVD played back on a DVD player, a consumer could have a much better home entertainment experience. DVD players have been designed to play multi region DVDs, and can playback any TV standard like NTSC, PAL or SECAM. The DVD players are compatible with a wide range of media such as CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, MP3, DivX, and many more.
Riding on the success of the DVD market, the HD DVD or High Definition DVD was introduced in 2005 and was an adaptation of the existing basic structure of the DVD. The HD DVD has a greater storage capacity and can provide better audio and video quality as compared to a DVD. All this is achievable at a marginal cost increase, mainly because the HD DVD can be manufactured using the existing manufacturing facilities for DVDs. This affordability factor is a great contributor to the success of HD DVDs. The HD DVDs are available in ROM, readable and re-writable formats. The HD DVD players are designed using all the features provided in the DVD players. The HD DVDs are integrated with a state-of-the-art content protection technology which is unique to this medium.
The storage capacity is 15 GB for single layer, 30BG for dual layer, and 45GB for a triple layer HD DVD. Also it uses highly sophisticated compression techniques using, dvd, MPEG-4 for increased capacity. A 15 GB HD DVD can store a full movie and incorporate, dvd, additional features,, dvd, with space to spare. Whereas as 30 GB HD DVD can store three movies of 150 minutes each and provide the high definition quality of playback. These features make HD DVDs a favored medium for storage and viewing of movies. With the widespread support from the entertainment industry leaders and the, dvd, high quality service provided by HD DVDs, they are certainly poised for a highly successful stint.
