Hãng xe sang thể thao nước Đức đã bật đèn xanh cho chiếc Pajun sau hơn một năm nghiên cứu chiếc xe này.

Khi ra mắt chiếc sedan này, mọi người sẽ ngầm liên tưởng tới một cuộc cạnh tranh giữa Porsche với các hãng xe sang khác tại Đức. Pajun sẽ chơi chung sân với 5-Series, E-Class. Đây thực sự là một quyết định quan trọng bởi nó sẽ ảnh hưởng rất nhiều tới truyền thống của Porsche.

Trong thời điểm này, Pajun được cho là một mẫu fastback 5 cửa giống Panamera nhưng chỉ khác nhau về tỉ lệ. Chiếc xe được cho là sẽ được lắp ráp trên Platform MSB mới của VW – đây cũng là platform cốt yếu để thiết kế lên các mẫu Bentley tương lai và thế hệ Panamẻa thứ hai.

Nhiều khả năng Pajun sẽ xuất hiện vào 2016, việc sản xuất Pajun sẽ giúp Porsche đạt tổng sản lượng 200.000 xe vào năm 2018.

The innovative and lovable video is directed by Andreas Bruns. It actually started off as a project for their course at the Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemburg, which is one of the world’s well-known production company. But due to the amazing storytelling and the soundtrack of this one minute and thirty-second film, Mercedes-Benz took notice and now uses it as an official promotional video.

The short film follows the story of a young boy, probably named Edward as the song implies. Guided by his map and accompanied by his cuddly little teddy bear companion, he goes out of the night while his parents sleep in the living room.

Where the journey takes this innocent and cute-looking child is puzzling at first, but as the video reaches its end, you will find out why his journey is worth it.

Next Ford full-size trucks shooting for best-in-class fuel-economy Did you really think America’s Ford was going to let rival General Motors hog all the pickup news this week? According to a report in Automotive News, Ford is spending US$2 billion to redesign its 2015 F-Series pickups, due to go on-sale in late 2014. Compared to GM’s fuel-economy strategy, which is counting on the launch a of new family of mid-size trucks to lower its CAFE requirements, Ford’s goal is a dramatic 15 to 20% drop in fuel economy in its full-size offerings. Extensive use of aluminum (to remove up to 340 kilograms of curb weight) and a new family of fuel-efficient, small-displacement, turbocharged and direct-injected six-cylinder engines, are the two main development strategies to reduce the F-Series’ fuel consumption.

Mercedes’ mid-size E-Class gets a makeover for 2014 We already gave you the skinny on the next E 63 AMG. But now, four years into its current product cycle, Germany’s Mercedes-Benz has released official images of its popular mid-size E-Class sedan and wagon, redesigned for 2014. Externally, the most noticeable change is the dropping of the E-Class’ quad-headlight treatment, a 17-year trademark. Instead, the four-door, five-passenger ‘Benz has two large front units loaded with more LED lights than we can count. Its swoopy, rear-fender bulge has been smoothed-over as well. We expect carry-over engines when the 2014 E-Class is revealed at next month’s Detroit auto show. But for now, Mercedes is saying the new E-Class will adopt eleven new and redesigned safety systems, some of which will also be seen on the next-gen, full-size S-Class luxobarge.

So Mini launched another John Cooper Works model Just as parent BMW can’t help itself from applying its once-exclusive high-performance M treatments to literally every vehicle in its lineup, BMW’s Mini brand seems afflicted by the same compulsion. Here’s the new Mini Paceman John Cooper Works. Breaking that down, the Paceman is the two-door version of the not-so-mini Countryman compact four-door hatch. And the JCW tag means it gets the same 218 horsepower, turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder, all-wheel-drive, and various go-faster suspension and interior bits as JCW versions of the Mini Cooper hatch, Clubman wagon, Cooper Coupe and Convertible — whew! — and the Countryman. Oh, and stripes. Lots of stripes. If you’re looking for such a vehicle, the Paceman JCW should go on-sale sometime in 2013.

Around the lights, the new E-Class will come with a choice of two grille treatments: the luxury version is a showcase in chrome, with a three-bar center section topped by a Mercedes three-pointed star ornament on the hood; the sport version (pictured) is muted, with a two-bar center section supporting a large Mercedes emblem. Beneath either one of them, the lower fascia takes on a more aggressive shape with larger twin scoops outboard.

To Be First Launched On American Shores
The latest news coming out of Mercedes is that the B-Class Electric Drive will be made available to the North American market before its sees dealer showrooms in Europe. Slated to be released in 2014, this variant will be classified as the W242, as opposed to W246 from which it was originally derived. The latest prototypes have been observed with revised front spoilers and side skirts, compared to what was presented at the 2012 Paris launch.

The W242 B-Class Electric Drive will be using the battery off the Tesla S, which will be mounted in the floor space in front of the rear axle. Producing 135 horsepower, the electric motor also offers almost 230 lb ft. of torque. Although it may seem paltry, remember that electric motors offer their full torque output virtually from 0 rpm, so this should give the driver perky enough performance for the urban commute. Actually, since Mercedes claims a 200 km range, the B-Class Electric Drive can even range further than what we’ve seen from other electrics so far.

Firstly, you have to lug your equipment around. The weight feels ridiculous, if you never done it before. Travelling on the crowded train with a huge bag also isn’t exactly ideal. For most shoots, you will need a body, certain lenses, preferably a tripod and lighting equipment. Although a professional body isn’t required unless its a large commercial work for huge corporates (which normally pay a lot and have high expectations and therefore you won’t encounter them), a good body that you are familiar with is important. If you use a very basic model, or something that you aren’t too used to, you will face a lot of difficulties during the shoot. Changing aperture, white balance, EV compensation, etc on the fly requires time to practice, and it will not be easy if you started with a new camera that you just bought or handled.

Multiple bodies are also very useful. It lessens the time required to change lenses or setup, or a certain angle of view (DX or FX). Changing lens is not an easy task, and carrying the lenses around your body isn’t easy unless you have a large waist pouch or a lens holder attached to your belt. I’ve had the trouble of swapping from portrait 85mm to the wider 28mm to get a particular view that I wanted. So unless you are rich enough to get something like the 24-70, then a second smaller body will be useful. But then again, if you’re rich enough to buy your own 24-70, why even bother making money from photography? Primes are also lighter, even when I pack all 4 of my lenses, its still lighter than a single 24-70mm.

Now to lenses. For most work, if you own a hefty and expensive zoom lens like the 24-70mm, then it will be your workhorse for the day. Then maybe couple with a few fast prime lenses. But most probably you aren’t rich enough to get fast zooms and fast primes, and settle for the smaller sibling versions. A good portrait lens is the 50mm f1.8. Cheap, light and effective. Did I mention cheap? For less than $200 you can get a wonderful piece of glass that works great.

A telephoto portrait lens is also good to have around to take close-up shots of people. But they tend to be expensive (Nikon’s 105mm DC and 135mm DC both are more than $1200, 85mm f1.4 is almost $2000!). But there are relatively cheaper alternatives from 3rd party manufacturers, Nikon’s 85mm f1.8 produces excellent bokeh and is one of the sharpest lenses I’ve ever used, Samyang has a manual focus 85mm f1.4 that is reputed to be as good as Canon, Nikon or even Zeiss, and Sigma produces a cheap 85mm f1.4 that is noted to be very sharp as well.

Wide angles can give good perspective as well. Most of the time, if I’m not with my 85mm, it is almost definitely the 28mm mounted. Occasionally, especially when I’m in extremely tight situations, I use a 14mm. Wide angles compress the background and creates more chaos, separating your subject from the chaos behind creates a great effect to bring the attention to the subject. Wide angle lenses however, have very stubborn characters. They do not seem to change much in clarity or disposition of your subject unless you change to extreme angles or shoot very near. I tend to move close to my subjects so it does not matter to me. But it does introduce to a wider picture that I had never seen before when I was using my kit zoom lens. It also made me change my shooting style and techniques, which I still use commonly now, especially in street photography.

Other lenses, notably fish-eyes and macro lenses, are good to have. But do remember that they are fairly heavy and adds on the the weight bearing on your poor shoulders.
Lighting is another equipment that seems like they aren’t harmful. But you also need extra batteries, shades and diffuser hoods, all which adds on to the pain on you shoulder.
Tripods is the largest piece of equipment that accounts to your pack. Even a mid-sized carbon fibre with a small 4kg ballhead easily tips the scales at 1.5kg. Time to hit the gym and do some shoulder press!

Secondly, the pay isn’t exactly good. After perhaps 10 or so jobs, then perhaps you might be able to afford a new lens. And I’m not referring to professional grade lenses yet. Perhaps a 28mm f2.8 or a 50mm f1.4 at best. If you were going to get a 24-70 or a 14-24, you probably need 50 to 60 jobs. Period. Occasionally the jobs require some amount of post-processing, and that time isn’t calculated within the shooting time, so you don’t get any pay from there. Most people think that hiring a photographer for perhaps $20/hr means good money, but shooting for 4 hours and spending another 6 hours to post-process the photos means you only get $8/hr in reality.

Thirdly, its not physically easy to be a photographer. Especially for events. To get the right angle, you need to approach you human subjects and shove a lens down their throat, run around very quickly, raise your camera for higher angle, squat down for low angle, change settings very very quickly, etc. Its tiring. Then after the shoot, you spend about 1.5 times of the shooting time to do post processing. Its normally 3-4am by the time I complete. Then uploading it to online cloud services or burning it to a DVD.

Fourth, the pay might be high, but a portion of that may be spend to do the job. Transportation nowadays isn’t cheap. A train ride can cost anywhere between $1 to $2.50 a trip. Sometimes the events last late and in hard to get to places, there is no bus or MRT service available. In order to get home you need to call for a taxi, which eats up almost half your pay by the time u reach home. Flash needs batteries, and cheap one from the one-dollar shop won’t do. You need good high powered batteries that hold their charge well, and normally costs more as well.

Fifth, inconsistency in mealtimes. This is one of the worst problems. I did a birthday party shoot once, and while everyone was eating the buffet, I was busy taking group photos and snapshots of the guests having fun. The party organisers had allowed me to eat from the buffet, I was treated more like a guest instead of someone who was working there. But it was weird to eat when all the other guests were helping themselves to the food, and there wasn’t much time to down a proper meal. I was hungry halfway through the party but the party was picking up its pace and I was dragged everywhere by the birthday girl to take photos of her with her friends. After everything ended, I finally got to grab some food, but from the tiredness, and the food had become cold after such a long day, my appetite worn out and I ended up eating a few mouthfuls before I set off for home.

So, it isn’t exactly easy to be a photographer. Long uneven hours, low pay, high dynamics, hunger, heavy loads. So why do I still do it? Its fun, and its always handy to have some extra cash around. Its impossible to shoot everyday, and most of the time there isn’t any theme to go around my shots. Sometimes such a shoot does refresh my shooting patterns, and re-awaken some techniques that haven been used for some time. Its a good way to practice, and definitely a good way to learn.

If you want a glimpse of the future, look no farther than the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force concept, which is set to hit the Los Angeles Auto Show, which is scheduled from November 30 through December 9, 2012, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“If people really like it and reaction is good then yeah, we might have to think of making it happen in reality,” said Huey Lee, member of the Ener-G-Force design team. The vehicle came to fruition at the Advanced Design Studio of Mercedes-Benz located in California.

The Ener-G-Force is touted to be a vision of a G-Wagen that’s even more environment-friendly than today’s efforts. While the designers foresee the roads of the future littered with vehicles that are electronically guided, the Ener-G-Force allows for a lot of versatility for recreational travel outside of the city.

The concept is currently configured and proposed as an electric vehicle that runs on fuel cell tech, although the designers have left room for other options—upon closer inspection, people will find storage space for some batteries as well as a charging port, meaning it can just as easily be a plug-in. It would all depend on how these alternative power technologies develop in the future.

The silhouette certainly seems lifted from another time than our own, with pronounced curves and elements melded straight to the Ener-G-Force’s body. The designers say this was to make the vehicle “something rugged but at the same time sensual.” It’s a fascinating shape, indeed.
