Alcuni vecchi Communicator 9000,9110,9210i, 9300, E90

Mendengar kabar bahwa Opera merilis Opera mobile 10 beta for Symbian, saya langsung saja download dan menginstall di E90. Walaupun di websitenya E90 tidak termasuk dalam daftar handphone yang disupport, saya coba saja menginstallnya dan ternyata berhasil.
Problem baru muncul ketika membuka halaman web. karakter yang muncul sangat aneh (kotak-kotak kecil). Anehnya, di artikel ini (http://www.mobilitynigeria.com/2009/11/03/try-out-opera-mobile-beta-10-for-s60-plus-screenshots/) , karakter yang muncul normal-normal saja.
Kenapa ya? Ada yang punya pengalaman sama? Ada yang punya solusinya?
Mudah-mudahan di versi non beta nanti ngga ada problem ini lagi. Sudah terlanjur cinta dengan Opera . Saat ini di handphone ada 3 versi Opera. Opera mini 4.2, Opera mini 5 beta, dan Opera mobile 10 beta.

While I don’t claim to have a perfect set up, it seems to be flexible and I have very few problems. So in other words, it works for me! And as a “one man” business it is very easy to integrate new technology very quickly if needed. Anything to make life easier has to be good!

Computers

I have two. A desktop and a laptop. The desktop is where I do most of my “business work”. It is not connected to the internet. It is at least 6 years old and works flawlessly.

My laptop is connected to the web. The only work on it is my tax return program – because I have to file returns online. I do not play games on it and rarely download programs

Why two computers? Well, if a virus comes along and knocks me out, I can still work. Also, how can you hack into my work machine if it’s not connected to the internet………Yes, I take security very seriously.

Telephones

I do not have a landline. Bet that surprised you! Instead, I use Skype. No line rental and very cheap call rates. Skype is loaded on my laptop and I also have a separate Skype phone. Call quality is excellent and I rarely have a dropped call. Oh, and can video conference as well via webcam. Highly recommended.

I also have a mobile. Well two actually. Ones for business calls. The other is a Smartphone for private calls. I can do the following on the Smartphone:

• write this article as it has word, excel and PowerPoint loaded along with Acrobat Reader (PDF)
• download email and surf the net using “3.5G” – if available in the area. £7.50 p.m. For 500mb download limit. Doubt I download 500mb in a year! Cheap at the price though 
• I can also surf via my home Wi-Fi network
• sync contacts and diary with Outlook when connected to my laptop
• if I need to use my laptop when out and no Wi-Fi connection is available, I simply plug my phone in and use it as a modem. Somewhat slow, but it works
• and I have a nifty free program called Fring loaded. This gives me Instant Messaging, Facebook, Twitter and Skype all in one program.
• Oh, and it has a 6gb memory card with music etc. And my entire client files as well. And yes, it password protected and can only be accessed on my phone. No one else’s. How clever is that!!

So it’s a “proper” business phone. Not an iPhone toy (ouch).

Fax

Unbelievably, I do have a fax number as the odd person still likes to do things the olde fashioned way. What they don’t know is that I don’t have a fax machine. Instead I pay an annual subscription to Faxtastic for the number. When a fax is sent it arrives as a TIFF file via email. So I can access it wherever I am. Neat. And way cheaper and more reliable than a regular fax machine.

Software

The best bit of software I have is a PDF conversion program. I can convert word, excel and tax returns into PDF files and then email them straightaway. No postage and  instantaneous receipt. Well worth the investment.

The random happenings in my life during October 2009.  The names of the guilty have been changed. But they should know who they are. I might even be subject to some retribution…….

Burger Boy is progressing well with his driving lessons. Unless he’s a lying wotsit, he’s only bumped the curb a couple times so far.

I had my annual encounter with Big Pete. Gas bolier serviced and tap fixed. He’s my “Mr Fixit” and I don’t know what I would do without him. We always have a good bit of banter as well. His latest plan is to sell up in the UK, max out on credit cards – buying Gold – and then emigrate to Spain without telling anyone. If you never come back will anyone chase the card debts? Anyone know the answer to that one?

Before you ask, I have no idea how old it actually is. Best guess is about 40 ish. It’s indesuctable and oh so cheap to run.

An obscure Skype tale for you this month. If you have a smartphone, you can plug it into your laptop and use the phone as a modem. Nothing new there. If you have a satellite phone, you can do the same thing. Somewhat costly though! Apparently this is how rebel groups in remote areas of the world keep in contact. This from a UN peace negotiator who has just got back from Darfur.

We have all heard the phrase “it’s a small world”. Here is yet another example: One of my oft quoted tales is that my Dad was on the 2nd to last boat off Dunkirk. This month I met the son of the last man off the beach – he was beachmaster. So our two Dads probably met. Amazing.

This might be just a UK thing, but did you know “margarine” does not exist? Go on, look at the tub in your fridge. You cannot find the word now can you? That’s because it’s a “spread”. Oh, and the natural colour is white. The yellowish dye is there to make it look like butter. And as you may know, it’s entirely a man made product. Change just one molecule, and it falls under the heading of …….plastic. Go on, do an experiment. Put a dollop in a dish and leave it at room temperature for a week. It will look exactly the same. No mould. No fungus. Fly’s will not go near it. And how much of it do you eat?

I have not watched the news this month as bored silly with the stupid stories they have run for several months now. Did I miss anything? And to further expand, I’m getting increasingly agitated with BBC TV. We all know they cannot advertise. But an increasing amount of airtime is spent on never ending self-promotion. They are preoccupied with the word “trailer”. I’m sure most programmes are now 3 – 4 minutes shorter than they were 20 years ago. So I’m voting with my feet and switching off or changing channel..

Whilst my TV viewing is mainly news and sport, I have watched repeats of the rather ancient Yes, Prime Minister. They must be 30 odd years old by now. And totally relevant to what is going on today. I’ve howled with laughter many times. Only goes to prove the quality of writing stands the passing of time.

Another month with not a lot of cycling done. I still feel fit though and my main season of riding is now here, so no more excuses!  Here is a photo if your interested:

Sports News

I’ll start with probably the last bit of cricket news for a while. Australia won the ICC  Champions Trophy, easily beating their neighbours NZ. It was one of those games won by bowlers.

OK, I fibbed. Right at the end of the month Gloucester cricket club announced a personnel change. The long standing 30 year old wicket keeper is replaced by a 36 year old – on a 3 year contract. “It’s for the club’s long term future” states the press release. Um, what’s the word? Bollock’s. Yes, that’s it…..

The British Superbike season concluded at Oulton Park. It was a great weekend, the highlight for me being the Saturday when the classic bikes went round. Most of them did it for fun, but 3 riders really raced. Fabulous. And the noise and the smell – nothing like it. Think I had a stupid grin on my face for the whole weekend. As usual, I walked miles, got some great photos and needed a day of rest after to recuperate. I hope the team I followed – STP – can raise the funds for next season. They are a good bunch.

As usual I went to several Bristol City games with friends. Performances remain patchy.  The gang I go with managed to get two “shout out’s” on Geoff Twentymans radio show after the Plymouth games. Lots of cheers and chanting followed and it’s a good job we didn’t crash!

As for Mangotsfield, well what a run in the FA  Cup. A magnificent performance saw them beat Truro City after extra time and penalties. Probably the best game ever seen at Cossham Street. Then they played Forest Green Rovers but it was not as good a game. Mangotsfield lost 2 – 1 although the balance of play was about even. This game saw the biggest attendance for a many a year – just over 900. I reckon the club made about £20k in prize, gate and bar take from the 5 FA  Cup games they played. Much needed finance for a small club.

The best sporting moment of the year has not changed. The Australian cricket captain, Ricky Ponting. He was fielding close in in a test match against England. Batsman thumped the ball straight into his lower jaw. Ricky just stands there. Glares at the batsman whilst spitting blood. No pain displayed. Got on with game. Compare that to a professional footballer………

As for the funniest sporting moment. Well Valentino Rossi winning the MotoGP at Misano (San Marino). In the previous race, he crashed out doing a silly manoeuvre. He wore an enormous set of donkey ears on the podium with a cheeky grin. Self deprecating humour at its very best. You are sir, a GOAT (Greatest of all Time), with apologies to your hero Agostini.

For those of you technologically minded, most of this blog was written on my mobile phone. All the pictures are from the phone’s camera as well. It’s a Nokia E90. Love it to bits!

And finally my usual final question for you. Basic simple common sense seems to have disappeared. So, whose stolen it? Surely someone knows!

Some footage of an E90 M3 equipped with the ESS supercharger. Numbers jump from ~400bhp to a healthy 600+ and allow the M3 to break the 200mph barrier quite easily…OMG YES!!

The filming was done in Moscow and I believe this is the first ESS equipped E90 out there at the moment. It’s apparent that there are a few traction issues during the clip, but 1.) the M3 had winter tires on and 2.) the video was shot at an ambient temperature of 4 degrees celcius. I think we can afford to cut them some slack, haha. Check out the video and be amazed:

European Auto Source wanted to showcase their inventory of carbon fiber parts for both the E46 and E90/E92. The pictures say it all. Head over to EAS if anyone is interested.

I wish someone would practice quality CF pieces for the E30 M3, however, that’s never going to happen considering how small the E30 M3 community is.

Da. Nabavio sam novu Nokiju. Više ne koristim ciglu, sad koristim “profinjenu” eleganciju, E61i. Manji, slabiji ali i praktičniji uređajčić…

“Mala” Nokija E61i je praktičnija, u to nema sumnje, ali i hardverski slabiji mob. Fali joj pokoji megaherc procesora, par megabajta interne memorije i GPS. Za prve dvije stvari stvarno se može reći “šteta”, ali za GPS nimalo. Naime, kako sam već pisao, Nokija ugrađuje loše prijamnike, pa je time normalna navigacija – nemoguća…

Ekran je manji, ali je uređaj monoblok, nema clamshelova i slidera… Sve su tipke odmah vidljive… S druge strane, layout tipki je malo drugačiji pa je i tipkanje zahtijevalo navikavanje.

Ja sam veliki ljubitelj mobitela, a najviše volim slidere. No, full QWERTZ tipkovnica je divna stvar, naročito za pisanje ovakvih blogova. Šalu na stranu, QWERTZ ili QWERTY tipkovnice na mobitelima su odlična stvar za pisanje SMSova i mejlova.

To je u modu uveo RIM (Research In Motion) sa svojim proizvodom Blackberry. I u trenu kad je mobilni pristup internetu postao (recimo) jeftin ovakvi su mobiteli dobili zamah. Ali, skrećem s teme.

A tema je Nokia protiv Nokije. E serija protiv E serije. Puna tipkovnica protiv pune tipkovnica. Razlike postoje, ali bit je praktičnost. Na žalost, iako je E90 jači model, s boljim hardverom, pobijedila je inferiornija E Nokija, E61i. I to čisto radi praktičnosti. E90 je nepraktičan uređaj kad morate nešto na brzinu napisati jer se tipkovnica krije u preklopu. E61i ne pati od tih dječjih bolesti, ali ima druge, nekima bitnije, ali meni sasvim zanemarive. Naime, E61i ima manje tipke i, što je nužno kod ovog dizajna, više znakova na jednoj tipki. Recimo, slova I i Š su na istoj tipki, brojevi dijele tipke sa slovima, neki interpunkcijski znakovi također…

Praktičnost pobjeđuje. Pa tako i E61i. Uređaj s kojim je ovo napisano. I stoga ću i blog preimenovati u E61VM. Možda promijenim i adresu, ali to je malo vjerojatno. Ako do toga dođe, ovdje će stajati link na novi blog. Do tada, sva moja piskaranja i dalje će biti objavljena ovdje.

Beberapa waktu yang lalu saya mencoba (lagi) layanan email gratis dari Nokia : OVI mail karena tergiur dengan promosi hadiah yang ditawarkan di harian Kompas. Lumayan hadiah pertama senilai 10 juta rupiah. Cara mengikutinya gampang saja. Pertama anda harus punya account email di Ovi.com. Dari account email ini kirim email ke kejutan@ovi.com dengan subjek ‘Kesamber Jutaan’. Semoga anda dan saya beruntung

OVI mail mendukung sinkroniasi dengan handphone yang berbasis Symbian. Namun sampai saat ini saya belum berhasil melakukan sinkronisasi di handphone saya (E90). Langkah-langkah yang dilakukakan:

1. Akses http://mail.ovi.com dari hp anda. Tentunya anda harus sudah mempunyai account OVI.
2. Add device. Pada langkah ini anda masukkan jenis HP anda dan masukkan no handphone anda (saya memakai kartu halo).
3. Selanjutnya akan muncul nomor pin security (4 digit) yang harus dimasukkan waktu anda membuka sms yang dikirim dari Nokia

Nah, problemnya adalah SMS ini tak kunjung tiba. Kemungkinan ini memang masih bemasalah karena di FAQ sudah ada dicantumkan bagaimana kalau SMS dari Nokia ini tidak kita terima. Karena untuk sinkronisasi diperlukan beberapa informasi yang diperlukan untuk setup awal.

Berkat bantuan om google saya menemukan contoh setting manual sinkronisasi OVI dengan handphone seperti di bawah. Namun sayangnya sampai saaat ini belum berhasil. Ada pesan error username atau password salah. Padahal saya sudah memasukkan user dan password OVI dengan benar.

Taj dio, naravno, nisam radio na E90, jer bi to bila gnjavaža i oduzelo bi mi previše vremena. Da se razumijemo, ja ne tvrdim da je E90 zamjena za računalo, bar ne u svakoj prilici…

Sretan sam s ovim mobitelom. Solidno brz, puno mogućnosti, veliki i mali ekran, puna QWERTY tipkovnica, microSD utor, WiFi, Bluetooth, infra-crvena veza, solidna masivnost. Da ga nemam, rekao bih “I ja bi takav!”. Ali, imam ga.

Ovo nije hvalospjev mobitelu, makar možda liči na to. Ovo je samo izražavanje oduševljenja komadom hardvera koji posjedujem. Nikako se ne može reći da je ovo najbolji mobitel na svijetu, jer to uvelike ovisi o osobnom ukusu i preferencijama.

Primjer je moja majka. Ona s ovim mobitelom ne bi bila zadovoljna ni na koji način. Premale tipke, premali vanjski ekran s premalim slovima, bespotrebni dodaci koji povećavaju težinu moba i smanjuju trajanje baterije. Zato je za nju Motorola F3, mob namijenjen onima koji imaju slabiji vid, ne služe se (često) SMSom, ne mare za sve vrste protokola za povezivanje, ne treba im ovakva tipkovnica. F3 je mobitel za starce. Što moja majka i jest. Tako i ona tvrdi, pa se ne može reći da joj iza leđa govorim kako je stara. A jest. Ne prastara, ima 61 godinu…

Ovaj mob nije niti za one3 srednje dobi, poput nekih mojih prijateljaa, koji nisu zagriženi hardveraši kao ja. Oni više vole jednostavne, stilski dobro oblikovane mobitele koji nemaju 500 načina kako poslati poruku (nema ni ovaj, ali je to njihov argumwnt protiv E90). Isto tako ne vole ni cigle, a ruku na srce, E90 jest cigla. Njihovi su mobiteli nerijetko s potpisom nekog poznatog dizajnera. E90 je prema nekima od tih mobitela ružna cigla. Možda stvarno i jest ružan mob (meninije, ali tko sam ja da naturam svoje estetske norme drugima) ali je istovremeno vrlo funkcionalan.

Na ovo zadnje će iPhoneovci reći da se to moglo izvesti na njihov način, jer je iPhone THE mobitel. Iskreno, serem se ja na iPhone. To prema mojoj definiciji nije mobitel. To je neki PMP/gadget koji, eto, slučajno ima i funkcije telefona. Iskreno, jebeš ti mob koji nema MMS koji doista često koristim.

Korisnici kao ja su relativno rijetki. Zato smo i (barem po meni, volim tako razmišljati) traženi u magazinima i novinama. Iako nisam pisao za novine o mobitelima (tada sam pisao o raznom kompjuterskom hardveru i laptopima), pišem sada za jedan magazin. I, nadam se, taj posao obavljam korektno. Zato me i žele zadržati. Ili to ja tako vidim. I nadam se da je to istina.

Zato volim E90. Svestran mob na kojem mogu napisati i cijeli tekst ako je potrebno. Iako do sad nije, jer imam i netbook, koji nosim uokolo sa sobom kao da je dio mene. Sad to više neće biti potrebno jer imam ovaj mob. Za mene je ovo THE mob. Jebeš ti ajfoun, Nokija još uvijek rulz!

Daklem, posjedujem Nokiju E90. Big deal? Jest, barem meni. Volim koristiti to čudo, tu ‘ciglu’. Možda imam ego-trip kada držim mobitel takvih dimenzija u ruci, ne znam. Jednostavno, volim dobar mob. A E90 je baš to, dobar mob.

Ne usuđujem se ženi reći da bih uzeo Blackberry tarifu (T-Mobile, trenutno sam na tarifi 60 sa dodatnim web’n'walk S i još imam Mobile Internet 500) jer će me strpati u top i lansirati na Mars. A baš bi mi super sjelo na Blackberry Connect aplikaciju ovog moba… Da, E serija to uglavnom može. Kažem uglavnom jer recimo E71, E63 i E66 uopće nemaju klijenta niti im postojeći klijenti mogu pravilno funkcionirati. Na E seriji do sada (E51, E65, E90 za koje sam 100% siguran da radi) je to bilo moguće. Naravno, postoji još modela E serije na kojima to radi, ali sam na ovima to i isprobao…

Daklem, BB tarifa (ili bolje rečeno, opcija) mi za sada visi… Nismo baš pri parama, a 80 kn mjesečno više za moje pizdarije nije malo. Pogotovo kad imaš dijete. Malo dijete. Vrlo malo dijete. 9 mjesečnu curicu koja raste k’o da je gnojimo. Bit će napisa o njoj…

Nokia E90 je zvijer. Sa standardnom Nokia greškom – GPS je u ku*cu. Standardna Nokijina pizdarija. Imao sam u rukama Samsung I8910, Omnija HD… Ljudi moji, takav GPS bih volio u Nokijama. Radi i u autu! Znam da je to uobičajena funkcija normalnih GPS prijemnika, ali meni, zagriženom Nokia useru, to zvuči kao SF… BTW, testiram mobitele i pišem te recenzije u jednom časopisu (nije bitno kojem, oni koji znaju – znaju) i svašta mi je već prošlo kroz ruke. I iako osobno najviše preferiram Nokije (N97, imat ću te, samo da mi žena dozvoli), moram priznati da većina proizvođača u svoje proizvide stavlja barem pristojne GPS prijemnike, ako ne i odlične (vrhunske baš i ne, jer ipak su to mobovi). Samo Nokija sere… Odličan potez, nema šta…

U svojoj E90ki imam Garmin XT. Solidna aplikacija za koju vjerujem da sa Nokijama nikako ne može pokazati punu raskoš funkcionalnosti. Jebiga, usrana Nokija nikako da shvati da je to jedna od funkcija koju kupci jako vole… Ne koriste je svi ali je svi žele imati. I barem je jednom uključe. A onda sranje. Jer, Nokija u gradovima baš i ne radi. A niti kad je oblačno… Odnosno, rijetko kad uhvati GPS satelite. A kad uhvati, dobro pokazuje, preciznost u ’samo’ 3500 metara od točke u kojoj je prijemnik… Blackberry 8900 ima super GPS, preciznost u jebenih 110 metara. Opet SF za Nokiju…

Da ne bi pomislili da ja po Nokiji samo pljujem, odmah kažem da ću baš svakome preporučiti Nokije. Pa i sa lošim GPSom. Nek si kupe jebeni vanjski GPS (bluetooth ili samostalni čak) i nek svi koriste Nokije. Znam da to tak baš i ne ide, ali, ponavljam, svima bih preporučio Nokiju. I Symbian. I to serije 60, po mogućnosti verzije 3. Iako ni verzija 2 nije za bacit. Za one laike, seriju 40, za sve ostale seriju 60. I mirna Bosna. Bar se nadam, ta država nikad nije mirna…

Ali E90 je zviijer. I ja je imam. I sve ovo je pisano na E90. I tko mi šta može…

Dakle, ovo je još jedan blog u dugačkom nizu blogova. Zašto postoji? Ne znam točan odgovor, nisam baš previše razmišljao otvarajući ga. Možda da imam kamo pisati gluposti sa svojom Nokijom E90, možda da se mogu preseravati kako imam taj mob, možda da se općenito mogu preseravati… Ne znam točan odgovor… Nije niti bitan. Bitno je da je ovo još jedan blog, još jedan post, još jedna hrpa elektrona na netu koja više ili manje ima smisla i koja više ili manje zabavlja čitatelje…

Teme koje mislim ovdje pisati su razne, nevezane jedna o drugoj, ili pak isprepletene čudnim vezama koje na prvi pogled nisu jasno ocrtane… Prosudite sami. Možda je ovo blog sa još jednom hrpom sranja koje neki wannabe pisac valja po Mreži, možda je ozbiljan blog o životno važnim stvarima, a možda je kombinacija svega navedenoga.
