First of all, let us consider the windows, the very purpose the blinds are used. It simply goes without saying that the windows cannot control the heat in a room that is caused due to the external factors, especially, the rays of the sun. The eco blinds suppliers, which are basically fabricated in the honeycomb style, can suitable used for covering the skylights and these block the light entering into a place. About half the amount of heat transferred is stopped by these curtain types. This is possible all because of the unique insulating fabric with which these are created.

These heat-saving blinds are also ideal for the full length windows and the French-style doors. This is because they allow for maximum privacy and also provides a great view to the inhabitants of the room. For this, you just need to roll them from the top as well as bottom part.

For some of the rooms, complete privacy is required. For such needs, the blackout cellular blind make a perfect choice. They come in the snug fitting side tracks that totally shut out the light by sealing their top as well as the both the sides.
Installing wooden shades is the latest and an easy method of keeping the environment safe. The first

Installing wooden shades is the latest and an easy method of keeping the environment safe. The first reason as to why the wooden blinds are a green window treatment is the very material that is used in making them. Wood is a naturally cultivated material and possesses rich insulating properties. When you open or close or tilt the window coverings, these offer proper insulation depending on the needs and therefore, controlling the degree of sunlight, air and heat busting in the room, makes it possible for you to increase or decrease the temperature of the room without using a heater or an air conditioner. Reduced use of the electrical appliances mean that less power consumption will be there, which in turn will lead to cut-down carbon emissions, which is very imperative when the question is of environment protection. You also experience cost savings because the improved energy efficiency results in lowering the lower electricity bills.

There are a lot of benefits of using the wooden venetians that are good for the environment. These prevent the furniture in the room from damaging due to exposure to sunlight and other external reasons. In addition, they are quite durable and developed to last for very long. This holds much importance as if the eco blinds suppliers and the wooden furnishings at your home last for long, less number of trees will be cut down in the future, thus preserving the flora for our ecological system. Another type of window treatments that are eco-friendly is the zebra blinds suppliers. So, you also contribute from your side in making the environment green by installing the energy efficient window coverings at your home or any other commercial setting.

Blinds are a great alternative to curtains. People use curtains to protect their privacy. Windows and doors of a house offer a great amount of light and ventilation inside the house. But it also provides a chance to the outsiders to peep in to your personal life. To keep outsiders away from personal lives, curtains are used. It offers a great option to allow natural light inside the house whenever required.

Enjoy this month’s tips from Betty on window treatments here or in the newsstands or at on Abode.

The windows in your home likely offer a beautiful view of the great outdoors, but did you know that they may be costing you as much as a fourth of your total heating/cooling expenses? So after you’ve caulked and weatherstripped your windows to reduce air leakage, Betty recommends purchasing eco-friendly window treatments. Blinds, shades, and draperies can reduce heat loss up to 10 percent in the winter and cut heat gain by 45 percent in the summer.

Curtains
You’ll want to stay away from petroleum-based material like polyester, nylon or rayon and purchase organic cotton, linen, silk, or naturally fire-resistant wool. Ideally, buy a thick material that’s light-colored on one side and dark-colored on the other side so you can reverse them for the seasons. The drapes should overlap in the center and cover the window completely. When you clean them, opt for CO2 cleaning rather than the polluting percholoroethylene dry-cleaning.

Blinds
Stay away from PVC or vinyl mini-blinds popular in the mid-‘90s, as some manufactured outside the U.S. contain lead. Unsure? Remove if installed before 1997. FSC-certified, low-VOC finish wood blinds are available at most online and brick-and-mortar retailers. However, roll-down or Roman shades made of natural bamboo, sisal, or other grass are a nice tree-friendly wood alternative.

At our home we did a combination of insulated natural grass blinds with a dark curtain for added efficiency. Until we could afford expensive new windows, this was an energy-smart solution.

Here’s to blinds that help you see the green – in your pocket in terms of energy savings AND in your enviro-wise action!

Best,
Betty
