Have a bit imagination, have lots of fantasy, and be in your childhood during the early 80s in the United States. And maybe then you are able to produce a short film, which includes the son of Rambo trying to save his father.
Son of Rambow is definitely an enjoyable movie, even though I was expecting a bit more. After all, this is not a spoof of some kind for the Rambo movies, it is more a movie about growing childhood friendship and getting out of the miserable family life for a while to have lots of fun. The family can’t always watch the kids.
Son of Rambow deals with Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner), who is looking for an escape from his family’s stifling home life when he encounters Lee Carter (Will Poulter), the school bully. Armed with a video camera and a bootlegged copy of Rambo: First Blood, Lee plans to make cinematic history by filming his own action-packed video epic and uses Will as stuntman. Together, the two newfound friends-turning-filmmakers quickly discover that their imaginative and sometimes mishap-filled cinematic adventure has begun to take a life of its own, when the French exchange student Didier (Jules Sitruk) enters the filming stage.

A little spoof of Rambo, a little bit of an adventure movie, a little bit childhood friendship story, a little bit family sense and even some real action, paired with suspense – basically, this movie has everything for a nice family evening with parents and kids. There are always little rascals, who stole a video cassette or a DVD from daddy’s collection to watch the bloody R rated action movie, because he is always saying “You can’t watch this, son”. But secretly, son is watching it and starts having dreams about his wishful future: He want to be an action star. In my case, it wasn’t that different.
Son of Rambow was pretty sweet, thankful to the child actors and their characters. They are not over-the-top, instead written very simple and believable. Will Poulter is giving an incredible performance as school bully and in-the-movie-Colonel, but it would not have been bad to give him a bit more character development. Especially his relationship with his brother Lawrence (Ed Westwick) seems a bit unclear, is the bigger brother first just on his little brither, so Lee can cook Lawrence something to eat and give him watches, but after an unseen change in Lawrence’s character, he is a caring brother and a father figure for Lee. Will is the typical young teenager, trapped into a sect of a strict religious group that prohibits him from having any friends outside the group and strictly forbids him from watchings any TV or movies. His change in life is a bit unbelievable, after he accidentally sees Rambo: First Blood for the first time, but the effect in his life (practically growing a mind over night) is really nice. Their friendship story is believable, and all ups and downs are their – being blood brothers, having fights, saving each other’s lives, and learning from each other.
Together with the French exchange student Didier (a perfect example for the ridiculous new-wave fashion of the 80s), their friendship is having difficulties, when Didier forces himself to Will’s and Lee’s movie production, because he is bored kissing all the girls in school. Didier is the middle part of Will’s and Lee’s relationship, bringing them apart, but really showing both of them, what life during childhood really means.
The rest of the new-found buddy clique are only extras with no real intentions to show Son of Rambow’s two heroes the meaning of life, but giving a perfect comic relief for the story, though the funny parts of the movie were rarely spread (but the scene in which Didier shoots down a bird, and the bird hits one of his followers on a bike was very hilarious).
The dream sequences (including a well-alive scarecrow and Will imagining exploding bombs and napalm fires on a field while driving past by it) are interesting, and show the obsession Rambo: First Blood has with Will, even though I wished to see more about his obsession to the movie
 After all, Son of Rambow is not really a comedy movie almost everybody was hoping it to be, it is more a simple and easy-going tale about friendship, family, loyalty and religion – pretty much in comparison with the more character toned Stand By Me from 1986. But it doesn’t mean that Son of Rambow isn’t completely unfunny. Here and there were laughable scenes, with so much heart you wished to be a kid again – no worries, cool summer days, worthy friendship with the kids from the neighborhood. And as long as everything is settled in the early 80s, then everything is good.

Son of Rambow is touching, heart-warming, beautiful, well-acted, funny, emotional, family friendly and a wonderful piece set in the 80s. Director Garth Jennings delivered a well-made film (and survived his The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy flop), and it doesn’t hurt to compare them with other buddy clique adventure movies like Stand By Me or The Goonies, though these films had different topics to offer. But on the surface they are all the same: friendship wins over dull life.
Not really the overhyped British comedy sensation, but definitely worth a look.

La prima di New Moon che si è tenuta a New York poteva quasi fare invidia ad una notte degli Oscar per la quantità di attori, modelle, stilisti, cantanti e altre celebrities che vi hanno partecipato. Chiaramente sotto i riflettori vi erano gli attori di New Moon, che si sono presentati super eleganti. Non mancavano di certo Robert Pattinson, Kellan Lutz e Taylor Lautner, ma come al solito un occhio agli outfit lo dedichiamo alle protagoniste “donne”.

La più attesa era senz’altro Kristen Stewart, che ha sfoggiato un abito Valentino e un paio di decoltè open toe Sergio Rossi con plateau. Capelli raccolti ed occhi in primo piano: finalmente non scivola sul look. Altra star amata dai twilighters è Ashley Greene, che indossa un mini dress D&G. Un outfit costruito tutto sui toni del bianco e nero, con un tocco di rosso sulle labbra: decisamente perfetta.

Attrice non altrettanto amata dai fans della saga è Nikki Reed, che ha scelto invece un abito in raso beige D&G e dei sandali Jimmy Choo. Passiamo ora agli ospiti, perchè a New York non poteva mancare di certo Taylor Momsen. Se gli attori di Twilight hanno preferito togliersi di dosso l’immagine vampiresca, gli ospiti sembravano usciti da un party di Halloween dal tema gotico. Infatti, Taylor indossava un abito Dolce & Gabbana e dei tronchetti neri. Il trucco è nero e pesante intorno agli occhi, con la bocca rosso sangue (non vi ricorda Leighton Meester?).

E tra le modelle ecco Agyness Deyn, con un look gotico, creato grazie a giochi di pizzo e di toni scuri, come il nero ed il blu. Jessica Szohr punta su una camicia bianca ricca di merletti e rouches, abbinata ad una giacca nera e jeans in tinta. Anche gli accessori sono rigorosamente black: borse in vernice e scarpe nere, impreziosite da particolari bianchi.

Red Carpet ricco di star di Gossip Girl, dato che vi era anche Ed Westwick. Mentre tra i cantanti troviamo Fergie e Joan Jett, ormai “madrina” di Kristen.

While their castmates partied at crowded Manhattan club The Box with the likes of Fergie, Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr and Olivia Palermo, Pattinson and Stewart bailed for a more private night out.
“Rob and Kristen got wind of the scene at The Box from everybody else,” a source tells. “They decided not to go. They were burnt out from all the media.”

Instead, the couple ventured elsewhere.
First, they reunited with castmembers (including Taylor Lautner) at a more intimate, no-press gathering at members-only club Soho House. Pattinson (wearing a baseball cap) and Stewart (in tight jeans and a leather jacket) took “turns in the smoking room,” an eyewitness says.
Next, Stewart and Pattinson made a break for it, leaving their colleagues behind. They arrived at another club, Avenue, around 1:30 a.m. and took a table on the mezzanine — keeping a security guard close by for “more private time” a source says.
Among the small group joining the couple at Avenue was rocker Joan Jett (who Stewart portrays in the film The Runaways). Pattinson — who is also a musician — was particularly fond of Avenue’s rock-heavy playlist spun by DJ Mike Nouveau. “Robert kind of sang along to the words in the songs he knew,” including “Common People” by Pulp, an observer tells us.

Adds another eyewitness of Pattinson and Stewart: “They sat very close to each other and looked very happy together. They chatted together the entire time.” When the pair left around 3am, “they were holding hands,” an eyewitness says.

It’s their second night in a row savoring the Big Apple together.
On Wednesday, following talk show appearances, the pair joined a large group at downtown eatery Gemma. “They were giggling a lot, and sitting very close,” an eyewitness tells Us, adding that Pattinson switched places “so he could sit next to Kristen.”

Just how did a guy like that keep his cool?

Uga VII died yesterday morning of a heart attack. He was only four years old and will be buried in a private ceremony at Sanford Stadium tomorrow.

He just replaced Uga VI about 14 months ago, a very short tenure as the team’s mascot.  The word is there won’t be any Uga for tomorrow’s game at Sanford Stadium. However, early reports indicating there would not be an Uga VIII appear to be incorrect.

Current Books: Can I tell you a secret? It takes me forever to read a book. I always have several going at one time and it can take me years (hello, The Fountainhead) to finish one. Right now I’m in the middle of Dead Until Dark, The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon and A Homemade Life.

Current Playlist: I’m always adding to my beats playlist and recently started compiling a Christmas playlist. Recent iTunes purchase include ’Till I Collapse (Eminem), Forever (Drake), Replay (Iyaz), Go Tell It On the Mountain (Jim Nabors) and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (Brenda Lee). Yes, I’m kind of a Top 40 whore.

Current Guilty Pleasure: Hershey’s Kisses at work. I don’t usually eat sweets at the office, but my boss bought me a bag and I can’t say no to Hershey’s chocolate.

Current Color: Black. When in doubt, I always go for black. Or green (but not dark green).

Current Drink: Water, Mountain Dew (I allow myself one can a day during the week) and this fantastic raspberry pomegranate juice I found last week at the grocery store. SO good.

Current Food: I’ve been eating a lot of pasta e ceci over the past 10 days. I’m also obsessed with Snyder’s of Hanover Sourdough Nibblers.

Current Favorite Show: I can never pick a favorite. Also, please don’t judge me based on my fascination with “reality” stars. That said, these days I always tune in to Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Hills, Fringe, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters.

Current Wishlist: A car made in this decade. King-size flannel sheets. A bed frame. T-shirts from mental_floss.

Current Needs: Nada

Current Triumphs: Taking care of the car situation by myself without hyperventilating. Actually, taking care of just about everything by myself  since September 14.

Current Bane Of My Existence: Brian being away. I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing about it, but it’s true.

Current Celebrity Crush: Ed Westwick, Mark Ruffalo, Joshua Jackson … and mayyyyyyybe Justin Bobby. That guy is a total dbag, but way easy on the eyes.

Current Indulgence:  Is this different than my current guilty pleasure? OK, pizza rolls and ice cream. I’m trying to clear out all the bad (read: unhealthy) crap from my freezer … by eating it.

Current Blessing: My whole life is a blessing. Love, work, food on the table and a roof over my head.

Haha, see what I did with the title there? I tried to incorporate Gossip Girl’s catch phrase to create a catchy headline

Anyways, so now that I have officially finished school, I have found that I have a lot of spare time on my hands. Half a year ago I started a fanfiction for Gossip Girl, based on the core couple of the show, Chuck and Blair. I started it because I didn’t know how else I would survive the painful 3 month wait between Season 2 and Season 3; and as such updating it became quite a hobby of mine.

I went on a bit of a break after Season 3 came back on and my Year 12 exams crept up on me – but now that they are over, I have free time again! Sooo I’ve gone back to my super-obsessive mode and I’ve been updating quite a bit again. I’d like to share it with you; feedback/constructive criticism is always appreciated

To be part of young Hollywood royalty often means trading in proms and nights at the mall for long days on film sets far from the classroom. These tween stars may walk more red carpets than homecoming dances but it doesn’t mean they can’t  find time for a little romance.

She’s a Kanye West-surviving pop star who recently nailed a stint on Saturday Night Live.  Then she picked up Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards this past week. He’s the hot, shirtless guy in New Moon.

T & T, or Taylor Swift and Taylour Lautner, met while shooting Valentine’s Day. Swift use to date a Jonas Brother while Lautner use to date Selena Gomez. We’ve caught them hanging out a few times and speculation about their budding romance was even worked into one of Swift’s musical skits on SNL.

Hottest woman on the planet Megan Fox met  90’s teen star Brian Austin Green in 2004. The two have been on again/off again since quietly ending their engagement last February.

We’re guessing it is probably hard to date the hottest woman in the world. Especially if  you’re possibly the most uninteresting man in the world.

Tweens Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas are a Disney dream come true. The two met while filming Camp Rock and have been hanging out more and more. With some parental units present of course.

She heats up the CW’s 90210 and he’s part of the Twilight on the Team Edward side. AnnaLynn Cord & Kellan Lutz have been breaking up and making up since 2008.

Before Twilight & Gossip Girl, these two met while hitting the books in college.

Twilight star Ashley Greene and Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford have known each other for quite some time. But apparently old habits are hard to break.

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron are one of our favorite pretty Disney couples. We can’t help but love them. And we have never watched HSM.

We have a confession to make. We don’t watch Gossip Girl for the intriguing storylines. We watch it for the fabulous clothes that Blake Lively gets to drape across her fab body and for her off-screen love Penn Badgley.

The dramatic television series Gossip Girl let’s us know the life and gossip of Manhatan’s elite through an anonymous blogger who calls herself “Gossip Girl. “ It’s main focus is on eight actors/actress’ that play the part of teenagers trying to survive in a world of wealthy socialites, money, romance, and of course brutal Gossip Girl watching their every move . Dan and Jenny Humphrey, along with Vanessa, live foreign lives (first season) in Brooklyn apart from the others. Blaire Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald, and Serena and Eric Vanderwoodsen live in wealth and mischief all over the Uppereastside of New York. All of the characters attend a private school together, but then they’re off to college and can you guess who follows? Gossip Girl!

Gossip Girl is by FAR one of my favorite TV series! I have told you an extremely short synopsis of the Television series, nothing detailed about the first, second, or third seasons. I have seen both the first,second, some of the third, and hope to read the books for comparison. I recommend Gossip Girl to all that have never seen it before!
