With women’s new founded right to vote a whole new women was discovered, dresses raised to their knees, bobbed haircuts were the thing , and fashion took on a whole different meaning.

Edens Next Trend Spotter!! Steampunk!!

We are always out on the look for the next big trend before they hit the runway and the masses to keep you on top of the latest and most original styles!! In order to do this we need to step outside of the fashion world and into the artist world. True innovative designers create through an artistic approach and our job is to find out where these great fashion innovators are. We scout out looks from art galleries and music festivals. The first trend we noticed making its way to the masses was the Native American and Navajo styles, where we found feathers, beautiful geometric shapes, and fringe at places such as Coachella all the way back in 2007.

The next big trend that we have been spotting is the Steampunk style. This look has been spotted at Music Festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle and Burning Man. Steampunk fashion is a style trend that follows the fantasy world of Edwardian and Victorian time. Like a whimsical Jules Vern novel, Steampunk uses historical style along with elements of clockwork whimsy to create a new kind of nostalgia for the 1800′s.This look is definitely couture but with a few minor adjustments Eden can give this new trend a contemporary and ready to wear vibe!! I just discovered these new headbands at Eden Boutique in downtown San Diego and I can’t get enough of them. They are by Laura Kranitz who has just made her debut on the fashion scene in NYC. All of the hardware is made from reclaimed vintage jewelry.

At first I thought it was a little impractical but every time I get dressed I think of new ways to wear it. It could be worn to a cocktail party, holiday party, rehearsal dinner, or just to add a little flare to jeans and a t-shirt.
