I am a huge fan of EDM (www.everydayminerals.com)..I buy stuff there all the time and most of the foundation and blushes that I use are from there. I just want to share with you all some of the EDM products that I have. :O)

Brushes: Foundation Brush, Long Handled Kabuki, and Retractable Kabuki

What I like about these brushes are that they are verry verrry soft (made with 100% cruelty-free fibers & 100% renewable bamboo handles) and ! I like the quality of these better than the red MAC Angled Countour brush that I have. I bought the retractable one for traveling …but I don’t really like it. It’s too dense and I always get too much product with that brush. It’s sleek and nice but..it’s not a brush that I use often. The Foundation Brush and Long Handled Kabuki are pretty good, however. Just make sure you wash your brushes often and take good care of them.

Eyeshadows: Diary, Rare Silk, Wild Flowers

These are some of the eyeshadows EDM sent me for freee!! Bwhaha. I never really use EDM eyeshadows tho..because they don’t come off as bold and pigmented as I would like – they’re really nice for everyday wear tho (very light and don’t crease even for someone w/ oily skin like myself).

DIARY – I put this over my eyeliner sometimes to smudge it a bit…it’s a grayish-purple.. it’s a shade that anyone can use…rather neutral.

RARE SILK – This is great as an eyeshadow base or a highlighter (I prefer EDM’s DANDELIONS eyeshadow for highlighting the corners of the eyes and under though).

WILD FLOWERS – This is…a dark..dark brown. I don’t use this as an eyeshadow but instead, I use it to fill in my eyebrows…lolol! I was afraid at first as my hair color is pretty dark…but this works so well! I was looking around at eyebrow kits like crazy (Stila has a good one I read, Sephora, etc.)..but I found what works for me and I didn’t have to pay $36 for it, which is what you mgiht have to take out of your pocket for some kits out there.

Blushes: Summer Stroll, Tea Time, All Smiles, Sunday Brunch, Opening Day.

Everyday Minerals’ blushes are beautiful! It’s the only brand that I stuck to after a year or so. These shades are rather nice…very pigmented and light..so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a lot of makeup. The only two shades that do not work for my skintone: Summer Stroll & All Smiles. :O( Makes me kind of sad as I don’t know what to do with them…lol they’re too orangey and bright for my skin (I’d imagine these blushes would look great on those with lighter skintones). However, what I like about these sample pots that EDM gives out is that I mix and match them sometimes. Yes. I do. I have a few extra sifter jars on hand and a bunch of sample blushes… = my personal blush shade that’s perfect for my skintone. =)

Price: $60-$80 for General Admission, $125-$150 for VIP Admission, which includes open bar with Vodka, Beer, and other refreshments, as well as exclusive area near the stage.

New Years Eve, celebrated in style. That is, if your style is to get real dirty, real sweaty, and listen to real hard beats. Last year, we were graced with Armin van Buuren for an awesome and incredible eight hours of trance music. This year, TAO will be dominated by House and Electro, with some trance on the side. David Guetta will be taking control of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Expect Sexy Bitch, When Love Takes Over, and other Cheezy but insanely catchy songs. He is sure to bring down the house. The main stage is located outside with a large tent, the same place where Monster Massive had its main stage sans tent.

The major trance artists are Markus Schulz, John Digweed, and Marcus Schossow. Markus Schulz always puts on a great show, and having recently seen Schossow, he’s the real deal. Kaskade is appearing inside the Sports Arena on the second stage. His productions are awesome and make all the ladies swoon. Also the men. Man crush. Do not miss him. Sander Kleinenberg and Dubfire are great DJ’s as well, so if you like more minimal house, head over to stage 2.

Issues: At Monster Massive this year, the line to get in was the worst ClusterFuck I’ve ever been in. Took an hour waiting, while being crammed with thousands of other people pushing to get ahead. Luckily, Insomniac stepped in with their experience at dealing with these turrible situations, and there will be two entrances to alleviate the some of the problem. Ticket prices are getting real high for these events as well. If you buy late $80 is a lot of money to drop on one night, not counting other expenses.

Water should be in the $4-$5 range, with alcoholic drinks being $10+. If you plan to drink a lot, buy the VIP ticket. Parking will be $15-$20 in the lots, but there is free parking to be found if you don’t mind walking a bit.

I hope to see some of you there, it will be a good good night! (Fuck, I did not just do that.) I’m posting a music sampler of the talent below, please download and enjoy. Have fun, and most of all be safe Homies!

John Gummer is MP for Suffolk Coastal. Submitted via WriteToThem.com, 17/12/2009: Dear John Gummer,

John Gummer is MP for Suffolk Coastal.

Submitted via WriteToThem.com, 17/12/2009:

Dear John Gummer,

Yesterday I wrote to ask you to support the call for greater openness and accountability in relations between the monarch and government by signing Early Day Motion (EDM) 83 which calls for the Royal Family’s exemption from the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act to be removed.

If you will allow me a follow-up letter, I am now fortuitously able to present an independently documented example of why this issue is so important.

Today the Guardian reveals how Prince Charles has written to ministers in eight different government departments since 2006 and, specifically, how his aides tried to influence Labour ecotowns policy. The fresh evidence of the Prince of Wales’ lobbying was obtained using the Freedom of Information Act, although Whitehall departments refused to release the content of the letters.

It is entirely wrong that a member of the Windsor family, lacking any sort of democratic mandate or public accountability, should be able to lobby government ministers for their own personal interests behind closed doors. It is an abuse of their unique, privileged position and it is an affront to democracy in this country.

It is precisely because of attempts like these to strike secret deals and covertly influence government policy that correspondence between members of the Royal Family and government ministers should be in the public domain. The Royal Family should not be able to hide behind their exemption from the Freedom of Information Act.

Again, I urge you to support the public’s democratic right to know by signing EDM 83.

Thank you for your indulgence.

Yours sincerely,

Steve Smedley

Blaxhall, Woodbridge

Take action: Here are some reasons why removing the royal family’s exemption from the Freedom of Information Act is so important:

How Prince of Wales’ aides tried to influence Labour ecotowns policy

New Charles lobbying shows need for FOI rules to stay

As good a reason as any to change our constitution

The Canadians can teach Britain something about Freedom of Information

So what can you do? Write to your MP today asking them to support EDM 83 and the removal of the royal family’s exemption from the Freedom of Information Act. You can also make sure that the issue has as high a public profile as possible by writing to your local newspaper.

Taking it further: If you share our vision of a fairer, more democratic Britain, why not consider becoming a supporter or a member of Republic, the campaign for an elected head of state?

You can also be part of our campaign by joining Republic Action, Republic’s own social networking site.

Author : HAMDRIK, RINTO Kekasaran permukaan dan laju keausan elektroda (MRR) pada proses EDM dipenga

Author : HAMDRIK, RINTO

by Janet Clarke

Hmm … why take another look at the 6.x MIS Person Profile dictionary? – Because the first crucial decisions made here can impact how efficiently you can create or edit users in the future.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Person Profile dictionary enables you to create a profile, or set of access settings, that can then be assigned when building individual users. Access to edit or assign profiles within this dictionary can be limited by listing analysts on the first page. User Emulation Restriction and the Security Level assignments are also defined here.

Interestingly, access to Application Databases is assigned in this dictionary, but assignment of the specific menus (and to FOCUS applications) is made through use of another new dictionary – the Menu Procedure Access Dictionary. As a result, some simplicity is lost as you need to remember which databases get assigned where. (New FOCUS applications include EMR, OM, PCM, EDM and PCS.)

The Person Profile dictionary also includes several new or improved fields that define user (Profile) permission to:

Access patient pictures

Enter/edit MIS Allergen dictionary

Enter/confirm patient allergies

Edit home medications

Edit patient problems

Assign diagnoses

Access specific websites

Access links within specific websites

Access printers

Access to financial report routines & databases

I think having the clinical definitions in MIS will make it easier to manage these fields.

The dictionary also includes a History button that provides you with an audit trail of edits to specific profiles and content changes to round out the features of the Person Profile dictionary.

Turns out the 6.x Person Profile is a mixed bag. Any improvements are off-set by potential confusion – it seems like two steps forward and one step back! When one considers the tremendous endeavor involved in upgrading to 6.x, the Person Profile dictionary does not represent a strong entry in the Pro column.

I came across this while trawling the WhatDoTheyKnow.com web site looking for Freedom of Information

I came across this while trawling the WhatDoTheyKnow.com web site looking for Freedom of Information requests concerning the royal family. The text is taken from a reply from the Ministry of Justice to a request for information concerning:

Any representations made by Her Majesty, other members of the Royal Family or the Royal Household might have made in respect of UK Freedom of Information law or policy during the calendar years 2008 and 2009.

Here’s the significant part of the reply that relates specifically to the royal family and the FOI Act (I have emphasised the key section):

Section 37 (1) (a) Communications with her Majesty etc.

Section 37(1) (a) exempts information if it relates to communications with Her Majesty, with other Members of the Royal Family or with the Royal Household. This exemption is subject to the public interest test and I have therefore considered whether the public interest falls in favour of releasing the information, or whether it falls in favour of maintaining the exemption.

We recognise there is a public interest in the role of the Royal Family generally and specifically with regard to their interaction with Government. We also acknowledge that there is a specific public interest with regard to any information held in this context, given the operation of the Act and the Prime Minister’s announcement on 10 June 2009 that Government will look to provide greater protection for sensitive `Royal’ papers.

On the other hand, there is a very strong public interest in withholding this information because of the historical and constitutional importance of the Convention referred to below. In weighing the respective public interests, we consider that extremely strong arguments for disclosure must be shown in order to outweigh the public interest in withholding this information.

In favour of maintaining the exemption it must be noted that there is a well established constitutional Convention that correspondence between the Sovereign and Government is confidential in nature. The Convention is an adjunct to the right of the Sovereign to be consulted by her Government, and to advise, encourage and warn the Government as appropriate. The rights of the Sovereign could not be exercised effectively in the absence of confidentiality, as the political neutrality of the Sovereign could not be preserved. These communications are regarded as subject to expectations of confidence, and it is of considerable public interest that they be treated as such.

The person who made the original request asked for a review of the decision which did little more than to reiterate the text of the original reply, adding only:

Having considered both sides of argument, I confirm that the balance of public interest falls in favour of withholding the information exempt under section 37(1)(a) of the Act.

Not only are we not allowed to know the nature of any correspondence made between the head of state and government, we’re not allowed to know the circumstances in which the correspondence took place, or even if there was any correspondence at all.

Vernon Bogdanor (“The Monarchy and the Constitution”) describes constitutional conventions as “non-legal rules which, nevertheless, acquire a binding force. Conventions play an important part in all constitutions, but are perhaps particularly important in Britain, since the constitution remains uncodified.”

Of 193 countries recognised by the UN, only three do not have some form of written or codified constitution. Britain is one of those three. If the rules are not written down they are exceptionally difficult to challenge, and also subject to change without any public debate or scrutiny. The default argument of the establishment remains “that’s the way thing’s have always been done”. Well, in the 21st century that is simply not good enough.

How many other modern democracies have the principle of secrecy enshrined in the protocols of their government?

We are campaigning for the royal exemption from the Freedom of Information Act to be removed. We argue that it is very much in the public interest that official correspondence between the head of state and government ministers is released into the public domain and subjected to proper public scrutiny.

It is wholly inappropriate in a democracy that an unelected individual should have unique, privileged and secret access to democratically elected politicians. Members of the Windsor family are widely believed to have regularly abused their privileged position to exert undue influence over government policy that has ensured favourable outcomes to them as individuals. This cannot be allowed to continue.

You can also follow the progress of the campaign at Republic Action.

Taking it further: If you share our vision of a fairer, more democratic Britain, why not consider becoming a supporter or a member of Republic, the campaign for an elected head of state?

(original post)

In the history of programming. Net, no other tool having a climb and fall so fast as noisy as the Dataset. Used as a emblematic item at the early .Net versions, was abused commercially as the solution to all problems of programmers to access and manipulate database. Big mistake, the obvious gap between the development team which created a powerful and versatile object, and the final link with the client (whether msdn or technet) which basically is the visible face to the community of developers and purely commercial court has completely clueless about the skills and dangers of its use. This component is the living example of such a great idea is misleading and manipulated in order to achieve sales, and their way of promotion is an easy way to badly stop the product.
Clearly, not all the fault of the seller, but many times the speed of the market and the decisions on the fly without knowing either the products they mistakenly used the tools. The big problem here is that he blamed the bad component of the publishing being generated or its poor implementation practice, and as the customer is always right, just goes to Microsoft for leaving out the playing field in this component with each new version of Visual Studio, and worse, the solutions are in place as Linq and Entity Data Model not only away from the road, but their benefits are not enough to cover or replace the possibilities offered by DataSet. I will comment on details of usage or best practices in use, and its comparison to highlight the major differences. I just hope to claim their profits before they disappear completely.

Pictures of the young princes getting intimate with their girlfriends are likely to earn the lucky photographer a handsome jackpot. Failing that, there’s always a good market for snaps of the royals shopping, or indulging in traditional country pursuits like strangling pheasants and beating dogs.

Are the results of this press intrusion of interest to the public? Certainly. Are they in the public interest? That’s arguable. But it is not just privacy from the long lenses of the paparazzi that the royal family demands. They also insist on secrecy. Nowhere is that secrecy more important to them than in their behind-the-scenes dealings with government ministers.

Often through personal private secretaries, occasionally in person, Charles lobbies government relentlessly in order to promote his idiosyncratic views on teaching, complementary medicine, and architecture. He is also known to have secretly lobbied the Treasury for personal tax breaks thought to be worth several hundred thousand pounds.

Through pressure applied by her court officials to the Treasury the queen has received special treatment for payment of tax and death duties. It is now alleged she is in the process of negotiating an inappropriate increase to the Civil List.

Whether it is interference in government policy or demanding more taxpayers’ money, all of these secret dealings happen behind closed doors, with correspondence and minutes of meetings given special exemption from the Freedom of Information Act.

It is completely wrong that an unelected and unaccountable monarch and her heir are able to interfere in the workings of a democratically elected government. Even worse is that their covert activities are protected by law from proper public scrutiny. That is why we are demanding from government that the royal family’s exemption from the Freedom of Information Act be removed.

By calling for our MPs to add their names to Early Day Motion 83, tabled by Lynne Jones MP, there is an opportunity for this important issue of public accountability to be kept on the political agenda. The royal family fulfill a public role. Even if their private lives are not our business, their public lives most certainly are.

Colleagues, We are all truly fortunate to be associated with a university that supports our students

Colleagues,

We are all truly fortunate to be associated with a university that supports our students and alumni the way we do. Recently, much effort was placed into petitioning the Foundation for Higher Education (FoHE) in Emergency Management and Homeland Security to establish our own Chapter of the Epsilon Pi Phi (EPP) Honor Society. I want to be sure to note that our Emergency and Disaster Management program received FoHE accreditation in 2008. EPP is an academic honor society established by the FOHE in 2006. This specialized honor society is for emergency management, disaster research and science, homeland security and continuity management disciplines. The mission of Epsilon Pi Phi is to strive for the reward, advancement and recognition of emergency/continuity management and homeland security as a discipline and profession and to encourage a high standard of excellence in these related fields of practice and study. The vision is that Epsilon Pi Phi will provide a foundation for excellence in the development of exceptional professional and academic leaders. Membership requires that a student have a 3.2 overall GPA and 3.5 major GPA.

We are also quite fortunate to have a Chapter of the International Emergency Manager’s Student Association (IEMSA), which is associated with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). Our Chapter was awarded the “Student Chapter of the Year” for 2009. We are the largest student chapter in the IAEM, with a 185 active members. Under the leadership of Student President Dorian Young, our IEMSA Chapter has accomplished a number of notable items. Our Chapter produces the award-winning chapter newsletter, “The Guardian”, which features students and faculty; contemporary articles on the science of emergency management; and superb student papers. In addition, our IEMSA Chapter hosts a monthly “Distinguished Speaker’s Series”, which features the movers and shakers in emergency management and homeland security. In November, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate addressed our Chapter members via teleconference. We have several other notable figures who will address our Chapter members in the coming months. I want to also note that our Emergency and Disaster Management academic program received the IAEM Academic Recognition Award. This award recognizes an academic leader or institution that has made a significant contribution to the formal education of students pursuing a career in emergency management or through research and development of paradigms or standards that have helped shape the broader field of emergency and disaster management. So you can see, between our IEMSA Chapter and our program’s general involvement in the IAEM, we are very strong proponent and supporter of our Student Chapter.

Both our IEMSA Chapter and the pending Epsilon Pi Phi Honor Society truly complement one another. There has been much discussion and debate in our LinkedIn Group regarding the establishment of the EPP Honor Society. Discussion and debate is healthy and allows all EDM/HS students the chance to voice their views. The important thing to remember is that both IEMSA and EPP complement one another—they do not compete with one another. APUS already has a very strong Golden Key Honor Society, with members across all of our academic disciplines. Many of these members also belong to student associations. We actually have EDM and HS students who are Golden Key members. What sets Epsilon Pi Phi apart from Golden Key is EPP is specifically for emergency management and homeland security students. The vision of Epsilon Pi Phi is to provide a foundation for excellence in the development of exceptional professional and academic leaders for emergency management, homeland security, and disaster research.

One key difference between IEMSA Chapters and EPP is alumni can continue their membership in EPP. Once a student member of IEMSA graduates, he or she must relinquish their IEMSA membership status and transition into the IAEM. Both our IEMSA Chapter and pending EPP Honor Society share the same vision and goals—to better the field of emergency management and homeland security by providing a venue for students to pursue academic excellence, which will benefit the sciences of emergency management and homeland security.

I want to encourage ALL emergency management and homeland security students to invest in YOUR future. Join our IEMSA chapter and take advantage of opportunities it provides. We had a stellar showing of our IEMSA Chapter members at the International Association of Emergency Manager’s conference in Orlando this year. As I noted above, with over 185 members you have an instant network of colleagues. Likewise, I want to encourage ALL of our students who have the GPA to consider joining EPP. Membership in both organizations shows your commitment to the study and science of emergency management and homeland security.

Thanks everyone,

Andrea, Thanksgiving 2006

Today I felt like sketching. I chose my usual inspiration — one of my children. This drawing comes from a picture taken of Andrea on Thanksgiving three years ago when she was ten. It doesn’t look exactly like her, but I’m not always concerned with exact likenesses when I draw my children, or people in general. I consider the person I’m trying to draw to be a jumping off point in an attempt to create a picture that looks like somebody. My aim is to capture a soul, a certain spark, or a glimpse of what it means to be human. I’m not sure I succeeded here, but I like it, and I’m happy that I’ve confronted my fears and attempted it.

I’ve avoided doing much sketching for AEDM because it scares me. It makes me feel naked and vulnerable to do it and to share it. I’ve been becoming more aware that it’s something that I need to do for precisely that reason. I’m even considering following AEDM with a sketch-a-day month in December. They say it takes three weeks to make a habit, and we’re three weeks into AEDM. I’m comfortable doing art every day when that terrified me in the beginning. Now I’d like to become comfortable with sketching.

Because the monarchy is not recognised as a public institution, the royal family is exempt from the

Because the monarchy is not recognised as a public institution, the royal family is exempt from the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act. That means there are restrictions placed on access to important information about the workings of the monarchy and the royal family that we are entitled to know about.

In some circumstances, documents can be released on the grounds of “public interest”. But in June, Gordon Brown announced that the Labour government was seeking to remove the public interest test for royal documents. This will effectively mean a blanket ban on access to all royal documents for 20 years. It sends out the message that it’s simply none of our business, even though the Royal Household is funded by the taxpayer.

This ban would, for example, prevent the public from seeing correspondence between Charles and government ministers. We might never know the full extent of Charles’s secret lobbying on health, architecture, education, the environment or any other of his hobby horses. We think that’s wrong.

This ban would, for example, also prevent us from knowing if, and to what extent, our head of state is abusing the principle of political non-intervention. We might never know if the Queen is secretly lobbying government to secure increases to the Civil List payments when we’re facing the prospect of drastic cuts in public services. We think that’s wrong, too.

We’re asking you to help us get this important issue to the top of the political agenda. We need you to help make our concerns known to our Member of Parliament (that’s John Gummer in Suffolk Coastal), and ask them to add their signature to Early Day Motion (EDM) 83.

What is EDM 83 about?

A group of MPs have put forward an Early Day Motion asking for the royal exemption from the FOI Act to be removed:

EDM 83: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LEGISLATION AND ROYAL HOUSEHOLD 18.11.2009

That this House disagrees with the proposed removal of the public interest test for access through the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to information held by public authorities relating to the Royal Household’s function and activities, and with the blanket ban on accessing Royal documents that would result; and instead supports the removal of the exemption of the Royal Household from the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Lynne Jones, Norman Baker, Ian Davidson, Gordon Prentice, Doug Naysmith

What is an EDM?

An Early Day Motion (EDM) is a Parliamentary procedure open to back-benchers in the House of Commons that enables an MP to draw the attention of Parliament and the public to matters which they consider to be important. MPs who agree with the EDM can sign the Motion. Those who disagree can table an amendment. Each EDM is numbered and remains open for signature or for amendment until the end of the Parliamentary year.

What can I do?

To ensure that EDM 83 has the best possible chance of being selected for debate in the House of Commons, we have to persuade as many MPs as possible to sign it.

Please write to John Gummer, or your own local MP, asking him (or her) to sign Early Day Motion 83. You can contact your MP by email – we recommend using WriteToThem.com. Just type in your postcode, find out who your MP is, and fill in the email form. It need only take a couple of minutes. Simple!

If you prefer to write a letter, you can send it to:

[Your MP]
House of Commons
London SW1A 0AA

What should I write?

You can use this example as the basis for your own message:

Dear [Member of Parliament],

I am writing to urge you to sign Early Day Motion 83 which calls for the royal exemption from the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act to be removed.

The government is proposing legislation that will remove the public interest test from requests for disclosure of documents relating to the monarchy and the royal family. The monarchy’s FOI exemption will then become absolute. If they so choose, the royal family can continue to lobby ministers in their own interests and in the interests of others without them ever being made accountable to the public. That’s not right.

The public is entitled to know, for example, the full extent of Prince Charles’s secret lobbying to ministers on health, architecture, education, and the environment, or the secret lobbying to secure increases to the Civil List payments.

These issues are very much in the public interest and I’m sure you will agree that, in a democracy, public interest must always be paramount. Public interest should never be made secondary to the interests of the Windsor family and the government.

I also ask you to pass on these concerns to the Secretary of State for Justice, Jack Straw, and to ask him to review the government’s inappropriate and undemocratic legislation.

I strongly support the proposal laid out in EDM 83 and I think you should support it as well. If you haven’t signed EDM 83 yet, I urge you to do so.

Yours sincerely,

[Your name]

Here are some writing tips to make sure your message is as effective as possible:

Be concise, but you should re-write our model letter to suit your own ideas.

Writing about your personal experiences will make it more powerful.

Please be polite! Don’t give your MP any excuse for not responding to you.

Remember to insert your name and address – MPs can only write to their own constituents.

Who do I write to?

These are our local MPs in Suffolk Coastal and surrounding constituencies:

Suffolk Coastal: John Gummer

Suffolk Central & Ipswich North: Sir Michael Lord

This afternoon, our Emergency and Disaster Management made history. Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate conducted a one hour conference call with our EDM students, faculty, and alumni. Administrator Fugate was the first distinguished speaker in our AMU EDM Distinguished Speakers Series. Much work was done behind the scenes to make this happen and had it not been for the efforts of our IEMSA Chapter President, Dorian Young and the Executive Committee, it would not have happened. IEMSA Chapter members submitted questions to Dorian, Professor Kemp, and me over the past two months. After numerous conference calls, questions were selected and asked to Administrator Fugate. We will be airing the teleconference in its entirety in an upcoming broadcast of our Issues and Trends in Emergency Management on AMU Radio. AMU Provost, Dr. Frank McCluskey welcomed Administrator Fugate to this hallmark event. Future guests in our Distinguished Speaker Series includes Dr. Joe Scanon, Professor Emeritus and Dr. Tom Drabek, Professor Emeritus and noted emergency management author. Be sure to keep an eye out in the IEMSA classroom and in our LinkedIn Group.

This is yet another example of the recognition of each of YOU and our EDM program.
