Cannot believe I haven’t shared my thoughts on New Moon!  Damn real life gets in the way of all my fun! LOL

So, met Kelly (friend from HS and college who I haven’t seen in about 11 years!) for the 9:40am show on 11/20. Also saw Tanya, Colleen, Sherri, Iliana (think I butchered her name!), and others…they had a huge group!  Anyway, the movie.  Haven’t ever EVER been so excited for a movie!  Had you noticed I was fired up?  Btw, I was wearing a CUTE New Moon shirt!  (Why can’t I figure out how to make this image larger??  sigh)  Not to be a bitch but this shirt looks way cuter on me

Very subtle. Long sleeved black tee with the clock tower from the Volterra reunion scene. Wore it to NY. Ashley was horrified that I was wearing a New Moon shirt! LOL  Not ‘NY cool’ at.all. >;-)

Naturally, I loved New Moon. I laughed, I cried. I thought Kristen Stewart really killed it (in a good way!) and just nailed Bella’s depression. I think people have issues with her protrayal of Bella b/c they want to see some over-the-top screaming/crying/drama all the time…but Bella is very introverted and doesn’t act like that, kwim?  But, KStew really looked DEAD inside.  Perfect.  And that song ‘Possibility’ was perfect with it.  I was getting annoyed with Bella for really really getting so chummy w/Jake.  Yeesh. Whore!  LOL

Hello Edward!

Edward.  NOT ENOUGH EDWARD.  Granted, we got more Edward than the book, but still not enough.  Never enough.  The apparitions were done well. But, need more of my man on the screen, damnit!  This is an issue I have with the Twilight movie too…both movies…they don’t show enough of Edward and Bella and their relationship.  And the long looks, the stroking..the kisses on her jawline..her ears…the ones that make her pretty much faint…In the Twilight movie, basically, they kiss once then it’s Vampire Baseball and James nearly killing her. Edward doesn’t even say ‘I Love You’ in the Twilight movie (but in the book he says it all the time)…in New Moon, it pretty much opens on her bday and then he breaks up w/her. If people only see the movies they will totally be Team Jacob b/c you never get to see the real meat of the Edward/Bella bond.  Oh, did anyone else notice my man Robert Pattinson looks so much more manly in this movie?  Maybe b/c he lost the gay gray pea coat? But anyway, his face just looked much more masculine. Yum.  And, they didn’t use too much makeup on him this time either. Thank goodness.  Oh, and the scene w/him taking his shirt off? I read that they airbrushed his abs on.  Not that I care.  But. more importantly, his freaking pants were pretty much OFF…and I guess vampires do not wear undies?  Not that I’m complaining but one more centimeter and we would have seen something super fun sparkling!

Jacob. I am obviously NOT on his team!  I read the books. I usually skip the wolf crap b/c it gets in the way of my Edward fantasies. Now, if I had only seen the movie New Moon, and not read the book, I would def. be on Team Jacob. Taylor Lautner did a great job. And, no, I am not talking about his abs. I hate body builder abs. I hate guys who spend more time on their appearance than I do!  Anyway, his relationship w/Bella, as shown in the movie, was so warm and sweet and caring…so exactly what she needed. Bella was all over him too. Always snuggling close to him…even when he was just working on the motorcycles.  No wonder the poor guy was so besotted by her!  In the book, I def. didn’t see her being so huggy w/him. Oh, the jorts? (jean shorts?) ICK. Body builder guys in jorts? So ICKY!!!  eeuuww.

Wolf Pack. Loved them. So cute and puppy-like. When Jake and Paul are fighting, it made me miss my dog! LOL But, the wolves really lightened things up and I like the cgi stuff. In the books, I never envisioned them being that huge.  They were @()$&@ HUGE!  That Victoria better run and FAST!

Emily and Sam. Loved the two of them.  You could see the love. Which I wish they could have done more of that with Edward/Bella. Oh, and back to Emily. She’s the like den mother for this pack of wolves. And, that’s part of why I couldn’t ever be on Team Jacob. I didn’t want Bella to end up like Emily. Cooking nonstop for a bunch of furry frat boys. UGH.  Can you imagine the stench?  Yeesh.

ALICE. I love Alice. She’s my fav vampire. Ashley Greene looked gorgeous. Especially in the Italy scenes.  She also got to deliver some funny anti-wolf lines. LOVE.  Oh, and I also loved that Bella emails Alice and it gives a way for her to do voice overs w/out being totally contrived and annoying. But, it also contributes to the SAD. Her best friend changed her email address? No wonder she had to resort to spending time w/dogs.

I love her! I even want those stupid fingerless gloves!

Cullens?  Need more Cullens. Rosalie and Jasper looked really really weird though. They need to figure out their wigs, pronto. (worries me that Eclipse has already wrapped…what if their wigs look even worse than they do in New Moon?) I do heart Carlisle tho.  I love PFach in real life too. I love that he’s married to Jennie Garth who is forever Kelly Taylor to me!  She got to do Dylan AND Brandon!  And dump both of their sorry asses with the ‘I Choose Me’ episode.  Yes, I was on Team Kelly, NOT Team Brenda!  Surprised?

Italy reunion. Love.  I wanted more talk though. The movie really quickly gets them back together and again, it’s not enough for people to get why they are together and why she takes him back so easily. Which also killed me in the book. Dude tells you he doesn’t want you/doesn’t love you, leaves you in the woods and even takes all your stuff that would be a reminder, takes your best friend too? Is gone for 6 months without 1 word…even though I am not into confrontations, Edward should have had to work harder at getting her back. Esp. in the movie where Jacob looks like Mr. Wonderful compared to the mean, cold vampire who cruelly dumps Bella basically on her bday. (I read a fanfiction called ‘My Yes/My No’ that goes into all the stuff Bella could have/should have gotten into with Edward when they reunited. All the tough questions..more than ‘oh, I lied. So sorry’ and BAM back together.  Oh, and some sexy stuff too! lol)

Volturi. Loved Jane. Need more and more JANE!  Aro, Caius, Marcus?  Meh. They all seemed sort of gay to me.  Their hair sucked. I don’t know what I envisioned for their ‘look’ but it wasn’t little gay pageboys.  Felix and Demetri? YES!  I liked the fight scenes. Poor Edward got the crap beaten out of him but he deserved it for hurting Bella!

Charlie. Loved him. Billy Burke is awesome. Lots of little smiles/smirks and caring looks. Very introverted yet worried Dad stuff.

Mike/Jessica/Angela/other random humans. All love. Especially Jessica.  Which is odd b/c I love Angela from the books and HATE Jessica!  I don’t understand how they just let her be all depressed like that for so long?  My girls would never let that happen to me!  And I am a professional wallower!

I have actually only seen the movie ONE TIME!  Can you believe it? But, from what I have read about the box office, New Moon seems to be doing just fine without me! LOL  So, those are my thoughts for now. I reserve the right to update this!

In this re-imagined narrative, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It’s an example of transformative storytelling serving as a pro-feminist visual critique of Edward’s character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy’s eyes, some of the more sexist gender roles and patriarchal Hollywood themes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed – in hilarious ways. Ultimately this remix is about more than a decisive showdown between the slayer and the sparkly vampire. It also doubles as a metaphor for the ongoing battle between two opposing visions of gender roles in the 21st century.

After Edward and Bella begin to see each other, following his saving her life in Port Angeles (Chapter 8), they begin to get honest with each other: Edward divulges who he really is (Chapter 9, Devotional #8), and Bella begins to divulge her true self and feelings for him.

In these chapters (9 & 10), we begin to see the differences in perspective, point-of-view, that makes them unique and which allow them to complete each other.

1) Edward is a true gentleman and therefore, defers to Bella’s judgment. Bella, however, is aggressive when she knows what she wants. When he steps back, she steps forward. (p. 197)

2) Edward, being eternal, sees the world, and human love, from a timeless perspective. Any investment he makes in a relationship takes on much greater significance: Stephenie Meyer’s vampires mate for life, and they never “get over” the loss of that love if it comes. Bella, being human (and a child of divorce) sees relationships as a too-often-temporary event, and therefore, won’t enter one lightly. Both are extremely selective in whom they love. Their individual perspectives allow for a perfect merging of hearts.

3) Both are a puzzle, and are endlessly curious. Over the course of the series, they spend huge amounts of time simply getting to know one another.

4) Edward can hear everyone’s thoughts in the world, except Bella’s. This is what actually sparks his desire to learn more about her. Without this catalyst, he may not have found her as quickly, and the story may have gone much differently.

5) He is strong and graceful, she is weak and clumsy.

In the rest of the series, even more personal traits emerge, and are proved to be a kind of fateful providence in the story arc. Things about Bella which, always perceived as purposeless quirks, things which she felt held her back, actually proved to be her strengths.

Independently, both Edward and Bella had traits and points-of-view which didn’t serve them too well, or were unbalanced. This is because they were only half of the equation. When the two halves came together, the supernatural and the natural, those traits came into balance and began to make sense.

How much of us do we not appreciate, or understand? Tons, probably. But we need to realize that we were custom made the way we are for a reason. Had Bella not been clumsy, or mentally silent, or selfless enough to move to Forks from her home in Phoenix, the story wouldn’t have happened. Both characters come through so much adversity and negativity to emerge victorious and rewarded for their trouble.

Remember that things which seem random or even detrimental may ultimately be for your good. God is always working toward that (Romans 8:28), even if it may be unpleasant at the time.

I dislike it when you rush to a lesson and then you’re late and the teacher gives you a frowny look and everyone looks at you like omg why are you late and then they send you away because it’s a “coursework” lesson and you should be doing the work. And oh my god have just realised I now have two weeks to do my english coursework and now I understand why my teacher was all “we really are pushed for time”. Ah.

It’s saved on a college computer, there is nothing I can do now.

So anyway, for reasons that are not interesting and I cannot be bothered to explain, Charlotte and I did not go see New Moon as we had planned. Instead, we went today after college and OH MY GOD I WANT TO GO SEE IT AGAIN TOMORROW. It is like, a million times better than Twilight even though the wolves scared me and I wanted to cry at several points and I am questioning my Team Loyalties. I’ve always been a dedicated Edward Cullen fan, and seeing as Jacob was not in Twilight much, this was never an issue but OH MY GOD I don’t know whether I want a Team Edward or a Team Jacob backpack for Christmas now. I wanted so so so so so much for Bella and Jake to be together, I was like OMG, MADE FOR EACH OTHER!! and then I was like, wait, think of the rest of the story line, Louise, do be serious. But my God, Bella and Jake are SO much better suited. Bella irritates me when she’s all oooooooooooh Edward etc, but I can understand her point of view, because hello, he has the best chin ever. And fantastic hair. Oh my oh my oh my. I love it so much. I don’t care if you hate it, you needn’t have read this. Just wowowowowow it is beyond incredible and if I had the money to spare I would go see it again every day. In the scene at the beginning where they’re watching Romeo and Juliet (not the Leonardo DiCaprio version, I was most disappointed), I totally got a look from Charlotte because I was mouthing along to the words in the scene in the chapel where Romeo finds Juliet and he’s all oh noooooo my love is dead etc etc *drinks the poison* and then “thus with a kiss, he dies” (I know it’s not “he”, but shut up), and I was like omg I’m mouthing the words to Shakespeare, GEEEEEK. It was like a whole proper minute of “iambic pentameter” (I know what this means now, it pleases me) as the teacher in the film who’s name I have forgotten says.

And Charlotte and I were the annoying people everybody wants to throw something at in the movie. We do talk rather loud, so if you were in Screen 8 in Festival Place Vue Cinema during the 3.50pm showing of New Moon today, we’re really, really sorry.

It’s 25 days till Christmas. All of a sudden, I am not looking forward to it. I’m not religious, at all, and don’t get me wrong, presents are good and all that, but the real meaning has actually been lost. As Charlotte’s Politics teacher said, “yeah yeah yeah, the whole Birth-of-Jesus thing.” I don’t even believe in Jesus/God/the Bible and really, getting into discussions about the whole religion thing angers me alot, but it’s the meaning behind it, not whether it actually happened or not that should be remembered.

Look at me, tshhh.

I want a whole array of Twilight related merchandise this year, Santa. Please.

It’s inevitable for me to talk about this movie, especially when it turns the world upside down and makes it really, really hard for normal people to go to the movies with peace and calm. New Moon has just proved me that not all the sequels can be good and that when something was bad from the very first beginning, it will only get worse with time. So, when parody things come up to light, I can’t stop laughing at them, not only because they reflect something true, but also because this saga’s plot it’s too predictable, and you can basically fit it in any other kind of context and it is still the same.

ItsJustSomeRandomGuy published in he’s channel another parody video with Marvel and DC toys, and what a better idea than the Twilight saga? Here, we meet Dr. Harleen Quinzel, who falls in love with a strange phsyco and realizes she’s in love with him, although she knows he can kill her. Predictable??? You see it!

At least this will be forgotten soon, like High School Musical’s fever…

undying and undead love, in action

I am a bit too proud to “let it go” when critics pan something I like. So I have to justify, through thought and theory, why something is good. And perhaps I should just let sleeping vampires lie… but I enjoyed almost every minute of New Moon, a movie most critics said was inferior to its predecessor.

So first I must start earlier in the franchise. This past weekend I re-watched Twilight, and was re-creeped out by Edward being such a fucking stalker.

Twilight’s version of love is deeply melodramatic and unfeminist; but it speaks to cliches that are apparently still quite deeply embedded in little girls. Ed is exactly the kind of guy young women should avoid; he confesses he’s extremely protective of Bella; he watches her while she sleeps without permission; he stares at her unnervingly in public; his moods are unpredictable; he lies to her all the time; he even threatens to fang her. She laps it up. Yet it’s still easy to see why this portrait of clandestine love is appealing. Ed’s single-minded obsession is really hot; who wouldn’t want to be the fixation of a deliciously sexy Victorian goth boy? It also speaks to the narcissism of some types of love; we want to be craved, to be the focus of somebody else’s life. It’s also narcissistic because that consuming sort of love allows us to hide in that love and shut out the universe, thus becoming an excuse for all sorts of selfishness on the lovers’ behalves. The point is, the first movie is pretty fucked up. A better argument than I could ever make regarding this topic is featured in this hilarious youtube mash-up of Buffy and Edward.

Many critics regaled the first Twilight movie for being an ode to teenage love; but for real? Twilight offers mystical magnetism as the only explanation for Bella’s and Edward’s love. B & E apparently have nothing in common, and the only time they are shown to have what looks like a normal conversation occurs during a montage sequence with no sound but the music track. What the two lovers say during pedestrian conversation remains a riddle wrapped inside of a question mark! The only thing those two have in common is that they’d both like to die for each other. Not so realistic, methinks. (Mehopes!)

New Moon, despite featuring further proliferation of the supernatural, portrays the most realistic version of “teenage love.” And it doesn’t take place between Edward and Bella, but between Bella and Jacob the Wolfman. Jacob is such a muscled sweetie-pie, literally an All-American hunk o’ love; maybe our first Native American heartthrob? (Sadly, the actor isn’t really Native American, though he claims to be part Potowatami and Ottowa through his Michigander’s mom side.) Jacob and Bella pursue a common hobby (motorcycles), they take scenic drives, see movies called Facepunch, hang out with friends, etc, and do pretty normal stuff. Their attraction is grounded, it makes sense, and it is no less hot just because it is more realistic. (How could it not be hot? Those MUSCLES! Here is a slideshow of them. [Thanks, Rach])

Next critique: New Moon is long and boring, they say. Well, sure, it’s long, but is it drawn-out? That depends on your perspective. The awkward pauses, long glances and hesitant touches between Bella and her two loves make for luxuriously drawn-out courtship rituals. My sister and I squealed with delight every time it looked like something might happen between the romantic leads.

Which leads me to my next point (bear with me). This movie is fundamentally feminine in perspective and an escape from the drudgery of daily life, like a harlequin romance would be. And that’s why everyone thinks it’s stupid. New Moon really takes female desire seriously; Bella is at the center and the plot turns on her being the fixation of two really hot dudes (one of whom is shirtless in almost every scene). Bella isn’t as good looking as her two love interests; she’s an everygirl. She has brown hair, not blond, thank you very much, and she wears frumpy-ass poofy coats to school. She is the blank page on whom we project ourselves. And you know? This movie’s pace is feminine, as opposed to masculine. Fantasy movies for guys are full of car chases, then some sex scenes, probably some gadget scenes, more sex scenes, battles, etc. This fantasy movie is not so much full of events as it is the possibility of events: again, the luxurious pauses, etc. Desire simmers slightly below boiling for most of the movie, and what we’re left is the possibility of the gratification of desire.

We women just love that. I’d rather use my imagination than see a fantasy created for me on screen; New Moon is all about possibilities, and that’s why I can’t wait to watch it again.

Alright I know, I just can’t help myself.  I see it, I think about it, it is only the next logical conclusion that I absolutely must write about it.  I saw Twilight, on DVD mind you, with a group of friends as we laughed at Bella Swan’s behavior and soul-be-damned attitude.  ”I don’t care if you turn me into a soul-less monster, Edward, I just want to be with you! – I can help you with this little Vampire thing you’re into and I just know you won’t hurt me.”  Sounds just like something I once said when I was a co-dependent moron dating a beloved alcoholic.  You go for it, Girlie – I think to Bella Swan (although it’s Edward who reads my mind) I hope that whole thing works out for you two kids.  Maybe she should think about Alanon – or in her case VA (Vampire’s Anonymous).  Oh well, I can handle it once and buy into it in Twilight although it is pretty clear she is setting herself up for disaster (unless she really doesn’t care that it the future she may accidentally eat her own Dad).

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT – read no further if you haven’t seen New Moon.

But then, I see New Moon (now here’ s where you get to wonder if there’s something wrong with ME) in the theaters no less, and I am baffled as Bella initially rejects Jacob, but as soon as she finds out that he is, gasp, a werewolf, who admits that he could potentially kill her in a fit of rage, Bella Swan swoons right into his impeccably sculpted arms.  Oh my God.  What is up with this girl?  Then she says to him, “I won’t ever let you get angry with me, because every day I’ll tell you how special you are.”  Uh- huh.  Here she goes again with the “let me help you with your little werewolf problem.”  And, to top it off, Jacob is all the more interested in her because she has dangerous and possibly lethal connections to his sworn enemies.

So here’s the Wikipedia definition of Codependence:

Codependency or Codependence describes a pattern of detrimental behavioral interactions within a dysfunctional relationship, most commonly a relationship with an alcohol or drug abuser.^[1] In general, the codependent is understood to be a person who perpetuates the addiction or pathological condition of someone close to them in a way that hampers recovery. This can be done through direct control over the dependent, by making excuses for their dysfunctional behavior, or by blunting negative consequences. These actions are described as enabling.

Of course, technically the characters are monsters who have no control over “what they are.”  Even though, I would argue that Bella enables Edward’s Bloodthirst simply by hanging around, that and getting bloody all the time.  The point is that in real life, the type of relationship modeled by Bella with both Edward and Jacob would be extremely unhealthy.

Which leads to my next question, after Bella is a vampire and has come to terms with her weird dependence issues, what kind of Divorce Shower would she like?  I happen to have a few ideas.

Vielleicht erinnert sich noch jemand an die Zeit, in der die cineastische Interpretation von Blutsaugern wirklich cool und stylish war. “Nosferatu” sei hier genannt! Die legendäre Dracula-Interpretation eines Bela Lugosis! Nicht zu vergessen das filmische Vermächtnis des “Daywalkers”. Auch “Interview mit einem Vampir” muss erwähnt werden, auch wenn man sich eingestehen muss, dass hier bereits die arge Anbiederung an die holde Weiblichkeit ihren Anfang nahm. Doch der rebellische Charme, die Unangepasstheit, die erotisch-tödliche Gefahr der untoten Flatterviecher war nach wie vor präsent.

Wie könnte es auch anders sein? Immerhin basiert der Vampir-Mythos größtenteils auf einer historisch belegten Figur, dem walachischen Fürsten Vlad III. Draculea, besser bekannt als “der Pfähler”. Dieser tyrannische Herrscher aus Siebenbürgen war bekannt für seine Vorliebe, Feinde zu pfählen und unter deren verendenden Leibern zu frühstücken. Dunklen Legenden zu Folge war Vlad für den Tod von mehr als 50.000 Menschen verantwortlich, die er mit Hilfe von Pfählung, Folter, Häutung, Verbrennung, Verstümmelung und Kochen ins Jenseits beförderte. Ein wahres Scheusal also und somit perfekter Ahnherr aller literarischen Generationen von Vampiren, die ihm folgten. Bis heute…

Vampire erleben seit 2005 ein Revival der besonderen Art. “Twilight” heißt das Machwerk und es transportiert die uralten Bestien in die nordamerikanische Highschool-Umgebung des 21. Jhds. Das “Vampirsein” wird in dieser Buch- und Filmreihe auf schüchterne, schmalgesichtige Schönlinge reduziert, die es sogar vermeiden, Menschenblut zu trinken. Im Sonnenlicht fangen sie an zu glitzern…ja, ihr habt richtig gelesen…Vampire, die im Sonnenlicht glitzern. Das wird auch der Grund sein, warum Vampire nicht in die Sonne können. Die Menschen würden Handtaschen aus ihnen machen! Natürlich findet die charakterlose Hauptdarstellerin “Bella” diese ungewöhnliche Interpretation vampiristischer Lichtscheu “wunderschön”. Ach wirklich? Wow!
Ich meine…das sind vermutlich die miesesten Vampire in der Geschichte der Menschheit! Geschrieben wurde diese rührselig-kitschige Hausfrauen-Grütze von einer gewissen Stephenie Meyer, ihres Zeichens Mormonin. Ja richtig…die Mormonen: Diese ultrachristliche amerikanische Sekte, die tatsächlich glaubt, die göttliche Apokalypse stehe kurz bevor. Insofern ist es nicht verwunderlich, etliche christliche Motive in ihrer Trivial-Literatur wiederzufinden. Sei es nun die primitive Schwarz-Weiß Malerei in der Charaktergestaltung oder die mittelalterlich wirkende Keuschheit der Protagonisten (Kein Sex vor der Ehe, iiiiiiih!). Christliche Moral lässt sich in Twilight an jeder Ecke finden. Wir rufen uns hier nochmal ins Gedächtnis, dass es in Twilight ja eigentlich um Vampire geht. Blutsaugende, untote, menschentötende Wesen ohne Gefühle, die mit Gott im Grunde so viel zu tun haben wie eine Nonne mit Noppendildos. Doch weit gefehlt. Hier funkeln nicht nur die Kreaturen der Nacht; Auch die restlichen Gehirnsynpasen lösen sich aufgrund dieser vielfachen Kitsch-Schwurbelei mit christlicher Konontation funkenschlagend auf.

Nüchternd betrachtet sind Stephenie Meyers Bücher harmlose Schundromane für pubertierende Mädchen mit Zahnspange und Pferdeschwanz. Die Geschichten sind mehr als klischeehaft, die Charakterdarstellungen flach und eindimensional und das stereotype Happy End lange vor Schluß absehbar. Doch schaut man hinter die Fassade dieser scheinbar trivialen Literatur erkennt man schnell den christlich-reaktionären Unterton der kindgerechten Vampirsaga. Die Botschaft “Sex vor der Ehe” ist mehr als veraltet und Teenager die Keuschheitsgelübde ablegen sind in Deutschland (glücklicherweise) noch undenkbar. Sicher passt das in die verquere Weltsicht amerkanischer Mormonen, gehört aber unter Garantie nicht in millionenfach gelesene Kinderbücher! So gesehen ist das gesammte Machwerke Meyers nichts weiter als ein 1500 Seiten langes Plädoyer für den vorehelichen Triebverzicht. So titelte jedenfalls “Die Welt” zum Erscheinen des neuen Twilight-Films “New Moon”. Ne ho visti parecchi in questo grigio mese, ma nessuno che mi sia piaciuto tantissimo.

CAPITALISM, A LOVE STORY (vedi post del 12nov) è un documentario, più che un film vero e proprio. Infatti non ci sono attori e molte scene sono in presa diretta. Andava accorciato, ma per proiettarlo nelle sale (facendo pagare il biglietto) lo hanno contrabbandato per film, con una lunghezza (2 ore) esagerata. Comunque il meglio del mese.

GLI ABBRACCI SPEZZATI mi ha un po’ deluso. Non è il miglior Almodovar, né il peggiore (il peggiore essendo La mala education). Troppo lungo anche questo. Ho gradito la citazione di Donne sull’orlo di una crisi di nervi. Lo rivedrò?

Merita la sufficienza (ma niente di più) CADO DALLE NUBI, con il comico Checco Zalone usato male. Le gaffes del campagnolo meridionale a Milano erano già vecchie ai tempi di Totò e la malafemmina. Ho apprezzato Ivano Marescotti nel ruolo di un burbanzoso capoccia leghista che strabuzza gli occhi scoprendo che la Sacra Ampolla (invece che d’acqua sorgiva) è piena di urina. Indovinate di chi.

NEW MOON. In un’aula scolastica il prof (accortosi che nell’ultimo banco si chiacchiera) crede di cogliere in castagna l’alunno Cullen. “Ripeti gli ultimi versi!” E quello, senza battere ciglio (sono quasi cent’anni che ascolta le stesse lezioni), snocciola: ”Qui troverò riposo e potrò scrollare da questo stanco corpo il giogo delle avverse stelle. Occhi, guardatela per l’ultima volta! E voi, labbra, custodi del respiro, suggellate con un bacio il vostro contratto eterno con la morte!”

 Fa piacere sentir citare Shakespeare. Ma il guaio è che NEW MOON presegue per altre due ore, tra espressioni perplessamente tetre (Bella), cupamente tetre (Edward) e ottusamente tetre (Jacob). Per vedere qualche sorriso aspettate il prossimo film. L’interpretazione migliore, secondo me, è quella di Dakota Fanning (vampiretta 15enne, glaciale e perfida): bella forza, ha girato più film lei che i 3 porcellini protagonisti messi insieme!

Vedere Berlusconi che muore schiacciato dalla cupola di San Pietro può essere divertente. Ma poi ci pensi e ragioni: “Ti pare che uno così aspetta la morte pregando accanto al papa? Nell’eventuale apocalisse sarebbe il primo a infrattarsi nell’arca dei cinesi! Oppure aspetterebbe la fine del mondo in un’orgia di 120 giorni a villa certosa!” Perciò esci dalla sala in cui hai subìto 159 minuti di 2012 e chiedi indietro i soldi.

CE N’E’ PER TUTTI poteva essere una bella commedia (anche Alberto Sordi minacciava di gettarsi dal Colosseo in Un americano a Roma). Invece è un po’ farsa, un po’ dramma. Insomma pretende di essere preso sul serio. Dispiace vedere che il grande Arnoldo Foà è stato coinvolto in questa bufala.

It’s 9:30 at night, they allow us to take our seats – butterflies flutter in my stomach as I anticipate the hours that follow. It feels like it’s been years since I’ve been re-united with the beloved characters from this obsession driven saga. The lights go out – screams surround – the title screen slowly fades onto the big screen; here it is it’s time. A few tingles, tears and blushings later, the lights come on; it’s over.

Viewing New Moon for the first time left me perplexed. One time is truly NOT enough. There is far too much to take in, the colors, the subtext, the simple unfolding of the story I’ve grown to love materializing before my eyes. I was lucky enough to drag my husband to the opening night – but for the second go around I’ll have to muster enough courage to sit in the theatre by myself. But there has to be at least one more time. It flew by in a flash, I feel like I watched an extended trailer. Please DVD gods release this one in time for Christmas, I’ll be forever grateful! I don’t think I can wait until March to get my hands on a copy. Somethings got to give….

Sensationeller Start in Deutschland

Auch Deutschland hat das TWILIGHT-Fieber erfasst: Nach dem erfolgreichsten Vorverkauf aller Zeiten, einem in der Größe noch nie dagewesener Fan-Event mit den Hauptdarstellern vor ca. 20.000 begeisterten Fans und den besucherstärksten Double-Features vor Start tritt der zweite Teil der TWILIGHT SAGA nun seinen Siegeszug in den deutschen Kinos an.

NEW MOON – BISS ZUR MITTAGSSTUNDE landete auf Anhieb auf Platz 1 der deutschen Kinocharts und bescherte dem Concorde Filmverleih den erfolgreichsten Filmstart seit Firmengründung mit mehr als 1,5 Millionen Besuchern am ersten Wochenende. Im Vergleich der Wochenendergebnisse liegt er damit vor Filmen wie „Spider-Man 3“ und „The Dark Knight“ und reiht sich auf diese Weise ein in die weltweiten Erfolgmeldungen.

Und die Fans sind sich bereits jetzt einig, dass NEW MOON seinem Vorgänger TWILIGHT in nichts nachsteht: „Der Film ist genial geworden!“ so User Justbitten auf der Fanpage www.forks-bloodbank.de. Andere Fans schließen sich an: „Ich bin sogar jetzt (7 Stunden  später) immer noch so gedazzelt, das ich weißgott nicht weiß, wie ich gleich einschlafen soll^^. Auf Youtube ist NatschePatsche der gleichen Meinung: „Also da ich ja schon beim Double-Feature war kann ich euch sagen ich bin begeistert von diesem Film!! Der ist echt hammer geworden und fantastisch umgesetzt!!“

Auch auf Kinoseite zeigt man sich begeistert von der großen Nachfrage nach NEW MOON: „Bei uns wurden schon vor Start alle Hausrekorde gebrochen“, bestätigt Oliver Fock, Geschäftsführer der Cinestar Gruppe das Ergebnis. „Einen solchen Erfolg hatten wir bisher noch nicht – weder bei einem Preview- noch bei einem Doppelprogramm vor Start. Bisher gab es auch keinen Film, bei dem wir schon im Vorverkauf so viele Karten abgesetzt haben. Can this be real? Can it be done?

I am unsure.

Living in fantasies are part of what I have grown used to, right till before I met the love of my life. I still love him and the feeling is mutual but it is true that with Love, some things do change.

I stopped living in fantasies. Before falling in love, I was mainly just imagining things. Imagining the things that I can or could have done, believing that the artistic side of me would have been capable of producing a book and enticing many. The reality part of it was I lack the understanding of how to be a writer, a storyteller and be interesting. How to seduce and entice readers to keep on closing in on every single word I say? This, truly challenges me.

Every good movie that I liked, I fell into the plot deeply, posters, novels, soundtracks…etc, it was just all I can do to cling onto being in that imaginary world just as the movie would have been. Picturing myself as the lead actress, falling into the plots that she had fallen into, these are things that I lingered on, till I fall in love of course.

Yet after watching Twilight: New Moon, I got caught up into the world all over again. I still love being mortal, being with my love but somehow there is  a challenge taunting me, to see how far I can go, living as a mortal instead of seeing myself in Edward and Bella’s world. It was tough.

Honestly, the movie did no justice to the novel. If a friend had not pointed out to me that the novel is way better, I may not have gotten so involved. Only difference between the me of the past and the present me, was Love. Corny, I know. I totally understand that I am probably not alone out there, wishing to be in their world, watching everything happening before me yet on the other hand, totally understanding that it was fictional and impossible. Because I truly have someone whom I love dearly in the present.

It is difficult. Being a creative person, imaginations and visions are not hard to appear in my mind. Every single word I read in the books only made me see clearer how the torment and pain must have been for Edward, Bella and Jacob. I am absorbed by this world of theirs. This world that I knew only exist in fictional binding and never ever to be real. Vampires, humans and werewolves. I salute to Stephanie Meyers for her vivid tales and visions of the saga. Truly, it has kept me at the edge of my seat and if I were younger, I swear I could have read all 4 volumes by 2 nights. As it is right now, I am only trying to pace myself because I know that the next morning, my mortal duties calls for me, I would have to attend to the mundane duties of what Life needs.

Breathing in Twilight is not easy. I do not know how tough it is but the stories brought back memories of old me, where I can easily breathe in the fictional world, carefree and self-absorbed, not willing to understand why my own fate is never as interesting as a book. Yet the truth is, we all crave for fiction, for that unbelievable truth that is typed in the book, reading every single word, absorbing every single emotion and dialogues in the novel. Pain and happiness took over at the same time. For me, everything I read becomes a movie immediately in my head. I can see every scene now, clearly and without a doubt. I can almost tell every expression that Edward has and how Bella although greedy, is pitiful in a way and how Jacob can be irritating at the same time. I can see them, all of them, clearly and vividly in my mind.

It is this same vividness that makes it hard for me. Here I am, knowing my mortal world, my friends, my families and my love but at the same time, I crave for their world. This crave is different. I am not unhappy with what I have, I just wished I can have more. Greedy, I know, slightly similar to Bella’s but yes, I am greedy. I want the same love that I experienced now and yet able to live in their other world, admiring Edward and Bella, being part of their lives. I am not sure what part I want to play but mainly I am won over by Edward’s love for Bella. More of his than hers.

Mortal world, I know he loves me as much as I do, we both appreciate and love the existence of one another. There is nothing wrong with our relationship at all. It is just that in fictional world, the extent of charisma and helplessness, romantic and selflessness overwhelms me. I cannot imagine how Edward had force himself to understand Bella so well when he fails to be able to read her mind. I am not hoping for an Edward to love. I am merely hoping to be able to witness a love between Edward and Bella, happening before me.

When I am reading, I know he complains that I read too fast, too fast that he wonders if I really even read it. I know I did because every book was hard to put down and leave behind. Yet I am so eager to start the next one hoping for more beautiful pictures, more resilient and romantic love to develop between the characters. Thing is, when I am reading, I am in my own world and I feel bad about leaving behind the mortal world at times. I know he is not upset at me being absorbed in my reading, perhaps more amused at how I absorbed myself but truth is, sometimes I feel like I cannot leave the book alone. I cannot leave the fictional world behind. It gets difficult when I have to be interrupted and sometimes not for a bad cause. Yet I know that on the other hand, something is happening to Edward and Bella that will make my heart pump faster, worry and frantic about what other unfortunate events are going to unfold for them.

Strange isn’t it? I called it Breathing Twilight. Because I really can feel myself breathing it and I am not psychotic. I am sane enough to know what I craved for and at the same time fully aware that I am only mortal. I started writing the entry because it is the only way I can release this thought. This torment of being in and out of fictional world. It is enough for me to suffer. On the other hand, when I am out of the fictional world, not buried in Twilight, I am only glad it is because I have and want to be around him. He is a loving friend and husband and had it not been for him, I would perhaps be much more pathetic than I am now.

As I was reading today, I scribbled on my bookmark, something that speaks exactly what is in my mind and why I am in need of writing this entry.

“It is sometimes impossible to be at two worlds in one time”.

Yes, searches. What you type in order to get here. But I just want to focus on one query: “Edward Cullen was so beautiful, I creamed myself.” Yeah that one. Recently it’s been getting a lot of hits.

There you have it. Ladies, and maybe some guys, thank you to all who are curious to read about a 23 year old female who creamed herself thinking of Edward Cullen only to be disappointed to find out I haven’t written anything about that yet.
