Long a leader in the utilisation of information technology, Bahrain is working to hone its advantage, further building on its electronic services programme at home while spreading knowledge through cyber-space across the Arab world.

A recent report by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) revealed that internet use in the majority of Arab countries remains below the prevailing global rate of 21% of the population. In part this could be due to the low level of Arabic content on websites – presently around 1% of the total.

In its Arab Knowledge report 2009, issued at the end of October, the UNDP said there was an urgent need for further research to understand the interaction of the Arabic language with technological developments and to meet the growing demands of Arab users.

In its report, the UNDP cited Bahrain as one of four Arab countries ranked in the top-50 globally as being most ready for investment in the area of information and communications technology (ICT). That readiness, along with Bahrain’s strong commitment to ICT, may well have influenced the UNDP to partner with the Kingdom in a new project.

On November 2, Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority (EGA) and the UNDP formally signed an agreement to establish the Arab Centre for eContent Development, a USD 460,000 project that will be based in Bahrain.

The main objective of the centre will be to develop Arab e-content by increasing its presence on the web relative to other languages, improving Arab online search engine capabilities and building skills in the area of e-government. It will also audit the quality of e-content and issue accredited certifications, while serving the private and public sectors both locally and regionally. As part of Vision 2030, the long-term plan spearheaded by the Economic Development Board (EDB) that is guiding the economic future of the country, the centre is expected to help foster a robust business environment.

“In part, this will be done by providing Bahrainis with IT training, thus helping to create further employment opportunities. Yet not only could the centre create many jobs locally, the expertise it helps generate will result in thousands of jobs all over the Arab world,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Ateyatala Al Khalifa, the cabinet affairs minister who signed the joint agreement on behalf of the government.

“Bahrain is quickly becoming a pioneer in world-class technical initiatives that serve the general public,” said Sheikh Ateyatala, who is also a member of Bahrain’s Supreme Committee for ICT. “This programme will further consolidate the Kingdom’s position globally in the area of e-content, and create a better tomorrow for Bahrain and our fellow Arab nations.”

Bahrain launched the eGovernment project in 2007, with the aim of effectively delivering government services to citizens, residents, businesses and visitors. By the end of 2010, the EGA intends to have some 200 basic services offered electronically, a target it is on the way to reaching, having crossed the halfway point at the end of October.

Almost a quarter of the services currently on offer, including electricity bill payment, flight information and school examination results, are already available through mobile phones, with another 10 to be activated by the end of the year.

According to Mohammed Al Qaed, the chief executive officer of the EGA, by next year Bahrain will be an eGovernment leader in the Arab world.

If this goal were achieved, it would be fulfilling a prediction made even before the country launched its e-government project. Back in 2006, the UNDP issued a report that described Bahrain as possessing the fundamental elements enabling it to create a knowledge-based society, adding that this measure was “not only crucial for economic growth, but for sustainable development across the board”.

With the ramping up of the state’s eGovernment initiative, along with the potential offered by the Arab Centre for eContent Development, Bahrain is well placed to develop a knowledge-based society stretching far beyond its borders.

Najbardziej znane dziecko Ala Lowe nigdy nie korzystało zbyt dużo z życia i dopiero gracz ma wprowadzić go w świat rozkoszy, umożliwiając mu m.in. liczne i wielokrotne kontakty z płcią piękną. Zatem Larry ośmielony kontrolą gracza postanowił wreszcie opuścić ponurą piwnicę i zakamarki swej nieśmiałości, z celem na ustach: aby zaliczyć!

W obrębie jego zainteresowań znajdą się przede wszystkim lokalna prostytutka (na wstępie przygody), następnie tajemnicze Fawn i Faith, ale prawdziwym złotym runem, po które zechce sięgnąć Larry będzie piękna Eve.

Viva Lost Wages!

Główne miejsce przygód pierwszej części Larry’ego to Lost Wages, miasto bezpośrednio inspirowane Las Vegas. Właśnie tam Larry uda się  aby zrealizować swój szczytny cel obdarowywania plemnikami nie tylko ściany i gazety, ale prawdziwe kobiety wyposażone w piersi i tego typu elementy charakterystyczne dla tej płci.

Lost Wages dzieli się na pięć dużych stref: Lefty’s Bar, kasyno, kaplicę, dyskotekę i sklep uciech stu. Larry będzie poruszał się pomiędzy nimi taksówką, za którą będzie musiał oczywiście zapłacić.

Na początku rozgrywki jedyną kobietą, która będzie chciała rozmawiać z naszym bohaterem jest wspomniana wcześniej lokalna prostytutka, która też będzie naszą przewodniczką w poszczególnych fragmentach gry. Odradzałbym jednak bliższe stosunki z nią, bo może się to skończyć słabo, np. chorobą weneryczną i w efekcie zakończeniem gry.

Zresztą grę można “skończyć” też na inny sposób, bo w pierwszym Larrym czas nagli. Gracz będzie miał tylko dwie rzeczywiste godziny na ukończenie gry. Czas ten można co prawda oszukać (m.in. przy pomocy naszej dobrej duszy – prostytutki), ale i tak nie pozostaje go zbyt wiele. W przypadku gdy go przekroczymy Larry najzwyczajniej załamie się i popełni samobójstwo.

Rozgrywka polega na wykonywaniu odpowiednich czynności, które zazwyczaj wiążą się z umiejętnym sposobem na poderwanie dziewczyny (prowadzą do tego różne środki). W tej przygodówce możemy sterować zarówno klawiaturą jak i myszką, a ważnym elementem są komendy wydawane właśnie  z klawiatury.

Szesnaście par pończoch

Gra w pierwszej, oryginalnej wersji tworzona była w oparciu o grafikę EGA w rozdzielczości 160×200 i przy szesnastu kolorach. Wcale nie lepiej prezentowało się udźwiękowienie, które bez wątpienia stanowi odpowiedź na klasyczne pc speakery ).

Pierwszy Larry jak i wiele tytułów Sierry z lat 80-tych (np. cztery części King’s Quest czy dwie części Police Quest) tworzony był w oparciu o AGI czyli Adventure Game Interpreter, program, który umożliwiał funkcjonowanie w w/w tle graficzno-dźwiękowym i którego ideą były wprowadzane komendy z klawiatury.

Osoby, które nie wytrzymają tak odległych rozwiązań graficznych mogą zawsze sięgnąć po odnowioną wersję gry z 1991 roku, stworzoną już w “świeżej” grafice VGA przy 256 kolorach, z wykorzystaniem możliwości Sound Blastera i nowym wizerunkiem Larry’ego (zbliżonym choćby do tego z siódmej części).

Ciekawe, że oficjalna wersja pierwszego Larry’ego w Polsce zadebiutowała dopiero w 2001 roku… czternaście lat po premierze.

Musisz sięgnąć jeśli… chciałbyś coś zaliczyć, choćby i przy komputerze.

Bat-batean, korridorean geunden guztiok geneukan txiza egiteko gogoa, eta, arazo horren aurrean galdetu genion arduradunari ea oraindik denbora geneukan komunera joateko. JARRAITUKO DU…

Ikusi dut askok ailegatzen zaretela EL Euskaltegira “ahozko proba” hitza jarriz zuen bilatzailean, EGAko ahozkoa heltzear dago eta. Ikusi ere egin dut ahozko probei buruzko nire sarrera bakarra blog honetan  oso ezkorra dela, horregatik erabaki dut zuek lasaitzea.

Hasteko, esan behar da egun hartan idatzi nuena izan zela beste ikasle batzuen esperientzia, eta horrek ez du esan nahi guztiak berdinak izan behar direnik. Are gehiago esango dizuet, nirea izugarri polita izan zen.

Gogoratzen dut Samaniego ikastetxean zela ahozko proba. Ni, beti bezala, oso goiz heldu nintzen. Lekua arakatu nuen jakiteko nora joan behar nuen, eta hori behin eginda kanpora joan nintzen zigarrotxo bat erretzera.

Kanpoan nengoela EGAko antolatzaileen amekin gogoratzen hasi nintzen. Izan ere, tokatu zitzaidan ordutegia ez zen batere aproposa azterketa bat egiteko: arratsaldeko 4 eta erdiak. Jakingo baituzue ordutegi hori siesta egiteko beste ezertarako ez dagoela pentsatuta.

Zigarroa bukatuta barrura sartu nintzen. Sarreran zegoen jende guztia, gehienak oso gazteak eta ikastolakoak. 30 lagun edo egongo ginen, denok zutik itxaroten, esertzeko lekurik ez zegoelako. Hona ailegatuta, aprobetxatuko dut proposatzeko antolatzaileei eserleku batzuk jartzeko.

Esperientziarekin jarraituz, 10 minutu-edo pasata tipo bat sarrera atera zen, eta zerrenda bateko izenak irakurtzen hasi zen, eta gure izenak esan ahala bere ondora pasatzen ginen “Baloi erreta” jokoan egongo bagina bezala.

Behin barruan gelatxo batean sartu, eta eserarazi gintuzten. Eserlekuak binaka jarrita zeuden, eta esan ziguten gure ondoan zegoenarekin egien behar genuela proba. Nire ondokoak eta biok elkarri begiratu genion, eta ni hasi nintzaion hizketan. Zeren eta pentsatu bainuen neska horrekin egin behar banu azterketa, hobe zela aldez aurretik ezagutzea biok gusturago eta lasaiago egoteko. Nongoa zaren, urduri nago, nolakoa izango den… horiek izan ziren gure mintzagaiak

Oraindik hizketan ari ginela, gelaren arduraduna etorri zitzaigun eta egin beharrekoa oso ondo esplikatu zigun. Esan zigun mahaian geneukan orri plastifikatuta  zela laburtu behar genuen gaia. Buruz behera zegoen, eta buelta eman nionean, hura poza hura! ikusi nuenean tokatu zitzaidan gaia nik ezagutzen nuela. Consumer aldizkariko gizarte sareei buruzko erreportaje bat zen. Nik uste dut nire bikotekideak asmatu zuela nire poza. Izan ere, niri begira geratu zen eta galdetu zidan zein zen nirea. Berea ere oso erraza zen: nola babestu umeak eguzkitik hondartzan.

Arduradunak esan zigun 10 minutu geneukala laburpena prestatzeko, eta, egia esan, askoz gehiago egon ginen. Nik uste dut 30 minutuz egon ginela gutxi gora behera, beraz, nahikoa eta batzuentzat gehiegi.

JARRAITUKO DU…

Argi dago lesbianen eta gayen aldeko erakunde guztiak oso pozik egongo direla gero eta euskaldun gehiagok “gai” nahi izan dutelako.

Nire kasuan, euskaltegian hasi nintzen lehenengo egunetan (aspaldi), oraindik ez nuen ezagutzen “gai” izatearen esanahia, baina euskara ikasteari berriro ekin nion urtean “gai” izatea zer zen ikasten hasi nintzen.

Nire lehenengo esperientzia orain dela bi urte izan zen HABEko 1. mailako azterketan izena eman nuenean. Oso urduri nengoen nire lehenengo aldia zelako, eta uste nuen ez nuela jakingo nola egin behar nuen ezta zer egin behar nuen. Halere, gelatxo hartatik atera nintzenean pozik atera nintzen nire lehenengo harremana jadanik eginda neukalako. Egun batzuk pasa ondoren begiratu nuen HABEren web-orrian, eta konturatu nintzen 1.mailan “gaindituta” jarri beharrean  “gai” nintzela jarri zutela.  A zer poza egun hartakoa!. Oraindik gogoratzen dut nola sartu nintzen klasean esaten “soy gay, soy gay”

Nire lehenengo esperientzia hura oso inportantea izan zen, are gehiago, esango nuke nire bizitzaren esperientziarik onenetariko bat izan zela.

Gelatxo hartan bizi izandakoak bultzatu ninduen aurrera egitera. Orduan nire euskararekiko harremana hobera joan zen, jada ez neukan lotsarik, ez neukan beldurrik, eta gero eta “gai”-agoa izateko gogoa neukan. Horrela jarraitu nuen probak eta probak egiten, eta leku guztietako gelatxoetan sartzen: Gasteizko aularioan, Samaniego ikastetxean, UNEDen… nire “gela ilun” kuttunak izango balira bezala.

Azken proba aurten egin dut, 3. mailako proba. Eta jakin behar duzue maila hori gainditzeak GAI (letra larriz) izatea esan nahi duela. Eta, badakizue zein den emaitza? Ez nuela inoiz pentsatuko hain harro esango nuela GAI naizela.

For Halloween night I went to my brother Ed and SIL Terri’s house to hang out with my nephews.  It’s a gathering for everyone … Terri’s siblings, a cousin, their kids, her parents, my parents … it’s a lot of fun.  Terri’s dad dresses up with a few of the boys every year.  This year they were Our Gang.  I captured some of the fun.    Enjoy!

A random trick-or-treater that I thought was too cute to photograph!

Although I have been absent from my blog for the past few months, I haven’t been absent from stitching.  I’ve been making some good progress on a couple of my larger pieces recently.  First, “Queen Sofia”.  My last, and only, post about this project was from back in January. I had forgotten about this piece for a while until at our last EGA meeting I found out November was the deadline to get a golden needle for it, *if* it was completely stitched.  So last weekend, I pulled it out and stitched on it for the entire weekend.  Here’s how far I got:

I don’t think I’ll get it all stitched by Novebmer’s meeting in a few weeks.  As I mentioned in the first post, I’ve been swapping colors in and out and I ran short of the dark purple thread that I used in the borders of all the pieces.  I sent the last little bit I had to a local shop this week to see if she can find me a match.  Keeping fingers and toes crossed that she does.

The other piece I’ve made good progress on is my “Blackstone Fantasy Garden”.   I’m continuing with my plan from March to stitch the knotwork first and then go back and fill in with the blackwork.

There’s more work to this piece than I initially thought.  Do any of you have that issue….under-estimating the amount of time it will take to stitch something?  I’d think after stitching for over 15 years, that I’d be better at it

Now onto a couple of recent finishes. The first piece, “Flame & Queen Etui” by Thistle Threads:

The model was originally done in more pastel colors, but I decided to try something much more vibrant. I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I also omitted the cording because I thought it looked cleaner and more classy without it. Did you notice all of the queen stitches on the one panel? That side took much longer to stitch than the bargello side, but the results were worth it.

I used 32 count black linen and used NPI silks in the following colors:

Creamy Yellow Range: 132, 133, 135

Violet Range: 451, 455, 456

Azure Range: 482, 486, 489

Hot Pink Range: 682, 683, 685

Holly Green Range: 428

Black Range: 993

And lastly, this is a scissor fob I finished for my friend Maggie.  She accidentally stitched the design over one.  It was suppose to be an ornament and when she realized it was only going to stitch up to 1″ square, she started over, stitching over two of course.  She didn’t think anything could be done with the teeny version and not wanting her efforts to go to waste, I took it from her and made this fob.  She didn’t have anything stitched for the back, so I stitched the ‘M’  to personalize it.

Ha..ha..get it?

Crimson leaves are starting to fall, and rockers far and wide are digging up corsets, frock-coats, and implements of bondage to identify with the gloomy change in weather.

The other day I was talking about how Halloween is coming up, and how I will be spending it at a con. I hope the rest of you have interesting plans for the gloomy un-holiday. I at least hope that you have a party to attend, where much Malice Mizer will be blaring. Martha Stewart suggests complicated green curries cooked in gutted pumpkins, and acrylic-nail application parties for Les Halloween ‘09. But we’re a long way from Connecticut, Visualists…

Visual style has wormed its way into the apple of rocker fashion. Most Visualists are rooted strongly in their individuality and creativity, hacking their own look into the world of Visual style. However, because of the nature of Visual style and the rising popularity of Visual Kei as a mainstream genre, it has also transcended personal style and gone into the, shall we say, band-boy-band-girl and/or cosplay modes of expression. A lot of people who appreciate Visual Kei style and music feel that cosplay and band-fan-dom is a way of forging a closer bond to their favorite artists and bands.

Although I personally believe in Visualism and Jrock as a life-source, not to mention life-style, I also believe in cosplay  as legitimate means of expression and appreciation of bands and idols. Even if you decide to do a simple cosplay, and can’t find all the Moitie accessories to glam up your Mana-sama, cosplay well, (and this goes for everyone across the board—) and cosplay with integrity. There’s nothing less appreciative of a band or specific band member than half-assing your depiction of them. If you’re short on time, cash, garb, gear, or all of the above, consider simplifying your effigy by focusing on several very characteristic traits (hairstyle and makeup, for example…whatever the personality is really defined by.) and toning down the other elements. For example, Kanon Wakeshima? Broke? Full-time job (yup, they do go together)? Con in a week? Simple solution! Focus on the hair and makeup and any accessories you can manage, and then try and emulate the experience and sentiment of her outfit without actually recreating it in full! This is much more appropriate than buying a $14 cheesy prom dress from Salvation Army and hauling a cello around.

…and remember…next year, start making the costume right after the convention, not right before. (To be fair, I tried this and failed miserably. Wish me luck that I don’t return a hypocrite….Not that you’d know  either way ).

Hoje acordei e pensei que iria subir o morro, choveu e decidi ir na rodoviária de Curitiba para ver o movimento de volta do feriado. Encontrei um pessoal legal, trocamos algumas idéias e fotos. Não briguei muito com minha digital hoje e consegui ver alguns carros inéditos.

Uma coisa que não entendi é como a Catarinense, consegue tirar tantos carros da série 20 e 21 e botar em Curitiba, só na volta pra casa devo ter visto uns 7 chegando a capital paranaense, fora o que já tinha passado durante o dia.

Nessa primeira parte vou colocar as melhores fotos feitas durante o dia, com luz boa.

Dakuzienez EGA agiria lortzeko prozedura oso luzea da. Izan ere, 3 azterketa dira, eta horien guztien artean itxaroteko tarte handi bat dago.

Une honetan, aurreko bi probak gainditu ditugunok eta pazientzia izan dugunok ahozko proban gaude.

Nik, gaur, txoko hau erabiliko dut aldarrikatzeko laguntasuna ikasleon artean ahozko probarako. Baina zergatik jakiteko, aldez aurretik puntu batzuk komentatuko ditut

Aztertzaileentzat:

1. Kokoteraino gaude hainbeste azterketarekin. Ia 4 hilabete daramatzagu azterketak egiten. Nik aspaldi ez dut asteburu lasai bat izan azterketa gehienak larunbatetan direlako
2. Kokoteraino egoteaz gain, nekatuta gaude urte osoa eman dugulako azterketak prestatzen: hamaika atariko, hamaika idazlan, eta hamaika eztabaida. Ideiak bukatu zaizkigu!
3. Nire ahozko proba ekainaren 5ean izango da, arratsaldean, 16:30 hain zuzen ere, eta esan behar dut ez dela unerik aproposena azterketa bat egiteko. Izan ere, bazkaldu ondoren energia osoa tripara doa, beraz, ez gara oso finak ibiliko testu bat irakurtzeko, ezta eztabaida batean ezezagun batekin aritzeko ere . Are gehiago, 16:30 dira lo kuluxka egiteko eta ez azterketa bat egiteko.
4. Asteburu honetan ahozkoa egin dutenek esan dizkidate testu batzuen gaiak: kromagnon gizona, medusak, arrantza…ez dakit zer uste duzuen, baina nire ustez horiek nahiko konplikatuak dira kontatzen. Eztabaidatzeko gaiak ere ez dira oso eztabaidagarriak izan, nire ustez: aitona-amonen bizitza eta robotika(?), besteka beste. Mesedez, aztertzaileok: zentzudunak izan eta zintzo jokatu gurekin, dagoeneko gehiegi sufritu dugu.
5. Bukatzeko, esan behar dut betikoa: oso urduri gaudela, eta hori ere kontuan hartzeko.

Ikasleoi:

1. Goikoa irrakurri baduzue, nik uste dut horretan guztion sentimenduak aipatu ditudala. Hori dela eta, ahozko probara sartzean gogoratu denok egoera berean gaudela, eta denok gainditu nahi dugula. Eta beti gogoratu sartzen diren biek gaindi dezaketela, ez dela beharrezkoa besteari putada bat egitea  biontzako gainditzeko lekua dago eta.
2. 1. puntuan aipatu dudana kontuan hartuta, mesedez, zintzo jokatu zuekin sartzen denarekin. Izan ere, lagun batek esan dit eztabaida gaizki egin zuela besteak ez ziolako uzten hitz egiten eta berarekin oso bortitz jokatu zuelako. Ni pertsona hori izango banintz, oso lotsatuta egongo nintzateke, benetan!
3. Beti ere, gogoratu elkarrizketa begirunez egiten badugu, askoz errazagoa izango dela biontzat.

Hori guztia esanda, lasaiago geratu naiz.

Azken hitzak laburpen moduan: LAGUNTASUNA, MESEDEZ!

Pentsatu dut ideia ona izango litzatekeela Nor naukazue atal hau noizean behin eguneratzea aldaketa handiak egon baitira hilabete hauetan.

Lehenik eta behin, iaz baino urte bat helduagoa naiz: 30, bai, 30 urte ditut, nahiz eta oraindik nerabe baten aurpegia eduki.

Bigarrenik, 10. urratsa ia ahaztuta daukat zoritzarrez. Izan ere, abiadura hartu nuen eta 12.urratsa gaindituta azterketa guztiak egin nituen. Eta orain, kideok, esan dezaket EGAduna naizela.

Hala eta guztiz ere, ez nago uste nuen bezain alai ez dakidalako zer egin euskaltegirik gabe. Arraroa dirudien arren, oso gustura nengoen ikasten: lagunak, irakasleak, giroa, afariak…, eta ematen du orain hutsune bat daukadala horien guztien gabe. Gainera, euskaltegian nengoenean denbora gutxiago ematen nuen lanean, eta hori ere nabaritu dut ordutegi arruntera bueltatzean eguna luzeegia egiten zaidalako.

Ikusten duzuenez oso triste nago. Zer edukiko duen euskaltegiak droga bat izango balitz bezala behar dudala?

Ika euskaltegiak hitzordua dauka Sagrario Aleman euskaltzainarekin maiatzaren 27an Zaldiaran euskaltegian.

Dirudienez, Sagrario irakaslea eta zuzendaria da Iruñeko Arturo Campion euskaltegian, eta 2007an sartu zen euskaltzaindian. Ikako irakasle izanda, aukera eman digu euskaltegiko talde batzuei datorren asteazkenean berarekin solasaldi bat edukitzeko. Hizordua 12etan izango da, eta irrikan nago.

Antza, euskaltzaindia zer den kontatuko digu, eta horretaz gain, galderak egiteko aukera izango dugu.

Arazoa da nire irakasleak badakiela zer iritsi daukadan euskaltzaindiari buruz. Nahiz eta berak jakin txantxetan nagoela, San Benitoarekin gertau naiz. Ondorioz,  pasa den ostiralean “totxo” bat eman zidan etxean irakurtzeko. Eta nik uste dut mendekua izan dela, zeren eta irakurketa Sagrario euskaltzain izendatu zuteneko diskurtsoa baita, hau da, ulergaitza eta luze-luzea.

Horrez gain, irakasleak esan dit aprobetxatzeko Sagrarioari galderak egiteko, eta ni, txakur zankaria gutxitan hozkaria. Beraz, badaezpada, ni isil-isilik eta zintzo egongo naiz. Gainera, kontuan hartu, ekainaren 6an egin behar dudala EGAko ahozkoa, eta, nork daki, egoera horretan egonda, hobe ezer ez esatea.
