    * Locke aprisiona Miles dentro do barco.

    * Scooby Doo: Hurley diz "Você me fez de scooby-doo completamente".
O final apresenta a rendição do Terrible Timothy Take-It, o líder dos galos ladrões.
    * Through the Looking Glass, And What Alice Found There: Uma das cartas do jogo de Daniel era uma Rainha Vermelha.

Nome do Episódio

    * A prisão vira um Egg-town para Miles; Ele tenta extorquir 3,2 milhões de dólares de Bene acaba com uma granada na boca.
    * O episódio começa literalmente com ovos: Locke prepara uma omelete para o café da manhã de Ben. Ele diz a Ben que esses são os últimos dois ovos.
    * Kate está preocupada com a hipótese de estar grávida, e as contínuas referências a seu filho no flash-forward do episódio.
    * A falta de capacidade de Locke em estabelecer comunicação com Jacob.
    * Locke mata uma galinha.
    * Kate tem que decidir entre deixar a ilha e ir para a cadeia ou ficar e morrer.

Last Thursday’s episode of Lost, “Eggtown,” lived up to the more than satisfiable

Last Thursday’s episode of Lost, “Eggtown,” lived up to the more than satisfiable quality of the other episodes so far in this season, and ended with a twist quite typical to the show’s famous (and perhaps at times infamous) recipe.

Firstly, why the hell is it called “Eggtown?” I wondered that myself, actually, until I looked it up on Lostpedia (thank God for tv nerds with Wikipedia fetishes, though I can’t seem to find the specific location on the page now). According to those behind the scenes at the Lost wiki, there were many things within the episode that pertained to its title. The term “eggtown” itself refers to a system of bartering, and since eggs would be a measly exchange, poor towns would be referred disdainfully as egg-towns. I personally thought that, in a sense, this could refer to the “exchange” of Aaron, since at the end of the episode Kate’s baby was revealed to not be her own flesh and blood at all, but Claire’s.

Cuuute …

There could be several reasons why Kate ended up with Aaron. Maybe Kate just simply stole Claire’s baby, which doesn’t seem logical to me, though, considering Kate and Claire are friends on the island. However, something illogical like that would actually be normal for Kate, considering she’s highly indecisive when it comes to what she wants and who she is—for example, as Sawyer correctly noted, she just jumps back and forth between Jack and Sawyer depending on her mood and what her needs are at the time. When it comes down to it, she’s selfish.

Or maybe Claire died and Kate “adopted” Aaron for her, although there’s something odd about that, too, considering Aaron referred to Kate as “mummy.” Still, lots of adopted kids, especially young ones like Aaron, associate their adoptive parents as their “true” parents. Besides, it sort of makes sense. Aaron’s too young to have to deal with or even comprehend the Crazy Island, Home to Fucked Up Psychological Projects Where No One Can Leave, Inhabited by Black Smoke and Polar Bears, and Ruled by Freaky Numbers story. I mean, it’s a little much for any outsider to swallow without gagging on the thick swill of ridiculous bullshit; while Aaron did, of course, live through the trauma of the Island (which will demand some serious therapy later on due to all those suppressed memories, poor kid), he’s too young to remember and fully understand, anyway. So it’s really not that strange. And like a lot of things in Lost that seemed to be a big deal, there might actually be a simple explanation behind it that doesn’t make Kate seem like a sneaky bitch. Take lovely Desmond for instance: We all thought he was some crazy Scot for living underground and pushing a goddamn button every 108 minutes, and that he was as fucked up as the Others, who we all figured were savages until we met people like Juliet—although, in retrospect, they honestly did make Desmond seem delusional at first, but now he’s cool and we all like him (plus, he’s nice to look at).

Or, perhaps Claire’s still alive but for some reason couldn’t make it back to civilization and she didn’t want her kid growing up even more traumatized than he probably already will be, so she gave him to Kate to take care of out of trust. You know, the whole instinctive mother sacrifice thing. I personally wouldn’t want my child to grow up on that hellhole of an island, but, hey, maybe that’s just me.

Additionally, there’s also the issue of why Jack refuses to see Aaron. Does he know “Kate’s” child is really Aaron (though, really, unless he’s stark blind, how the hell could he not have noticed)?

There are other minor references to the episode title, “Eggtown,” as well. The episode, for instance, literally starts out with eggs: Locke’s nice breakfast for Ben that gets smashed against the wall in our Island Secret Keeper Man’s frustration (why, O Island, do you torture him so?). Also, part of the episode (in the present) deals with Kate’s fertility: the issue of whether or not she is pregnant with Sawyer’s child (she says she’s not). Of course, that just led to me debating back and forth over the course of the episode whether or not “Kate’s” baby was Jack’s or Sawyer’s, which, obviously, was a intended tactic meant to play the viewer right into the writers’ hands as a distraction (and it worked, damnit).

“Who’s my baby daddy?!”

Speaking of which, don’t they have condoms on that island? Although I guess the island itself functions as one big contraceptive, figuratively speaking, considering no one’s baby survives to be born. Well, the conception part still happens, but let’s just say the pro-abortion people would be happy and the pro-life advocates would be pouting on the beach and cursing “Mystery Frickin’ Island” (see last post on nicknames).

“Fuck it, I’m SO blowing this popsicle stand of an island.”

On another note, I’m still asking myelf why Kate didn’t stay behind, considering she had to deal with the consequences of her crimes. Knowing Miles’s response to “Do you know what I did?” you’d think that even though Miles and his crew had to study everything about the Oceanic passengers, that Kate would be scared off and not want to take any chances returning with them to the US. And since Kate plead “not guilty” to her conviction in the flashforward, that suggests that she didn’t suddenly change her ways and want to take responsibility for all the shit she’s done. Nope. She’s the same ol’ Kate—except for the child part, but whatever, although technically it’s not even hers. Unless, of course, she decided she just had it with all the insanity and would rather rot in jail on a life sentence than deal with the weird Monster and the Others anymore, which is perfectly understandable. Face it, the drama and conspiracy on that friggin’ island would make anyone cry out for normalcy and mediocrity. I mean, I’m not even on the island and it drives me crazy just thinking about having to put up with all that crap. Sure, the show’s great and all and I’ve stuck with it since Day One, but honestly, it’s ridiculous. Let’s not lie. Scientific explanations for everything my ass.

Next up, Daniel. This guy:

Daniel Faraday with Charlotte.

In this episode, Daniel and Charlotte played a memory game in which Daniel had to recall the suit, number, and color of each (Dharma) playing card. Charlotte tried to remain, unconvincingly, optimistic throughout the test, but a despairing and frustrated Daniel was disappointed in himself when he got two out of three correct. Charlotte called it “progress,” but Daniel questioned incredulously whether or not that was really progress at all.

Looking back at past season four episodes, there is additional evidence of Daniel’s problematic memory. In “Confirmed Dead” Naomi referred to Daniel as a “headcase” when discussing her odd assortment of a crew with the freaky Oceanic guy (Matthew Abaddon, the tall African American guy who approached Hurley in his flashforward in the mental institution). Obviously, there’s something mentally off about him, just like with Hurley and Libby. Frankly, I’m interested and can’t wait to learn more about him. Also in “Confirmed Dead,” during Daniel’s part of the flashback he is seen starting to sob uncontrollably when he sees a news report about the finding of Oceanic 815 in the depths of the ocean. Someone whose face is not revealed (later revealed by the writers to be Daniel’s caretaker—further possible evidence of a mental health issue) asks him why he is upset, and he responds, “I don’t know.”

Daniel Faraday responding to the news about Oceanic Flight 815.

Moreover, when Jack and Kate first meet Daniel (after he falls from the helicopter), he demonstrates some odd behavior while they look for Miles and the other members of his crew; this abnormal behavior fueled the impression that “those people” came to harm the Losties, a view shared by Ben (well, no duh, they’re after him), Locke and his group, and even some ambivalent members of Jack’s. Nevertheless, thinking about it now, Daniel’s initial behavior in the company of Jack and Kate was probably nothing more than innocent and harmless, unlike what was first imposed on us viewers. Daniel’s oddness most likely can simply be attributed to his unreliable memory and whatever mental health problem he has suffered from.

When Jack asked him his name, Daniel paused a long time before answering. According to Lostpedia, he also used the technique of word-searching when he wanted to refer to his pack but couldn’t immediately pinpoint the right word. Moreover, he was generally mentally sluggish and is somewhat eccentric, often mumbling to himself. When they met up with Miles, the latter had to remind him of their secret code—the one Naomi used when she talked about the sister she doesn’t have over the radio—which is meant to be used if someone had a gun to their head and needed help. Miles reprimanded Daniel about this after he called Jack and Kate “good people,” treating him as though that forgetfulness were a normal and annoying occurrence.

The memory game.

There are some rather interesting theories on the Lost wiki about this guy. I try to generally avoid these theories, because either they might actually be dead-on and thus flat out spoilers, or just because there are so many and most of them are so wild that it runs the risk of throwing off my own perceptions. However, I read a few, and one said that Daniel doesn’t actually have memory loss; instead, Charlotte was testing his psychic ability. There was also something about how he lost that psychic capability and was trying to regain it. According to a part of that general theory, Charlotte never turned over the cards—Daniel was trying to guess them. Nonetheless, while that theory is intriguing and could be possible, I don’t think it is. I wouldn’t really think a psychic would be called a “headcase,” even though, I guess, he could be by those who don’t buy into the whole thing (me included). Still, it seems much more likely that he was a mental patient or something along those lines. Besides, Charlotte’s an anthropologist, not a psychic herself. How could she test him from a point of higher authority if she was not trained in some way or was one herself in order to judge his skill level and track improvement? It just doesn’t seem likely, especially because his memory seems extremely poor. A psychic who lost his “powers” would, in my view, merely be reduced to normalcy, not a sublevel of functioning. And to counter the Charlotte-never-turned-the-cards-over thing, that scene with Daniel and Charlotte began in the middle of Charlotte’s test, not the beginning, so in reality I guess you could say it’s technically not confirmed whether or not Daniel saw the three cards beforehand. We only saw him guessing and then the results.

What is more, there was an interesting suggestion that Daniel could be Ana Lucia’s “Danny.” It’s certainly conceivable, knowing the many connections between characters on Lost … although Ana Lucia was part of the Los Angeles police force and Daniel, according to “Confirmed Dead”’s flashforward lives in Essex, Massachusetts. People do move, however.

At any rate, I can’t wait until they dig into Daniel’s character. Looks like I’m going to have to stick it out, though: It sounds like the next episode’s focus will be on Desmond, but that’s just guessing.

Lost is a United States serial drama television series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. The show was created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Because of its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming in Hawaii, the series is one of the most expensive on television.

From the Lost Wikipedia entry.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

As a lot of other viewers, I was hotly anticipating the new season of Lost. However, since the WGA strike, I thought that they would simply choose to cancel the season, since with only 8 episodes shot and produced, fans would be disappointed. I think that possibly ABC might choose to produce the rest of the season this year and air it. However I’ve read that Lost will last 13 episodes this season instead of the aforementioned 8. This is instead of the normal 16 episode season which was scheduled. All in all, that’s not too bad.

The fourth episode centers on Kate. The flashforwards center around Kate as well. We learn she is one of the Oceanic Six. I guess that Kate’s baby doesn’t count as part of the Oceanic Six. However, the revelation of the baby’s name will start speculation on what happened exactly on the island.

Kate puts her fate in jeopardy to find out what Miles knows about her. I found that her whole gamble wasn’t worthwhile. She did it all so that she could find out if the people on the freighter knew about her checkered past. It does however make me wonder who is looking for Ben so desperately. Who wants to get him? Minkowski?

The end of the episode also reveals that something must have happened to Sayid, Desmond and Frank Lapidus. The helicopter is MIA. It’s been gone for over a day. Maybe the time difference has something to do with this, but that’s not sure. Since we know that Sayid survived the island, that makes you wonder where they are. Maybe Frank is secretly working for their employer on some designated tasks.

* * * * *

John wakes up and cooks for someone breakfast. He goes into the basement and delivers it. It’s for Ben. He’s been moved to John’s basement from the rec room. John wants to know about Ben’s spy on the ship. Ben mentions that John hasn’t received any information from Jacob. Ben pisses John off and takes the breakfast back. He throws the breakfast against the wall. He storms out.

Kate and Claire see him. Sawyer comes by to see Kate. He wants her to move in with him. She doesn’t want to. She doesn’t trust him. She tells him to go home.

In the future, Kate is coming out of a limousine. She goes through a throng of reporters to court. It’s Kate’s trial. She pleads not guilty to all charges, with include murder in the first, GTA and other counts. The prosecutor asks her to be remanded into custody. The judge agrees with the prosecutor and they put Kate in jail.

Sun and Jin are talking about their life after the island. He wants to live in America. Sun wants to have her baby in Korea. Jack comes back to the beach with Charlotte and Dan. He tells them that Kate is staying with Locke.

Kate wants to talk to Miles. John tells her no. Kate sees Hurley bringing dinner to Miles. She stops him and finds out where Locke is keeping Miles. She asks him who she is. She wants to know more about herself. In exchange, Miles wants a minute with Ben.

In the future, Kate is meeting with her attorney. He tells her that the DA has decided to try the case herself. He tells her that it’s time to try to talk deals. She’s looking at 20 years for each count. He tells her that he needs someone to talk about her character. He wants to put her son on the stand. She doesn’t want to.

Sun is worried about what is happening to Sayid. Jack can’t get through to anyone. Claire asks Kate to pick Aaron. Kate hesitates. Claire does it herself.

During her trial, her attorney calls Dr. Jack Sheppard. He says that only eight of them survived the crash. He tells the jury how she saved them all. Kate tries to make him stop. He says that he doesn’t love her anymore.

Hurley and Sawyer are having a fun time in their cottage. Hurley is watching Xanadu. Sawyer is reading. She tells him that she wants to use him to break out Ben. Sawyer pays a visit to Locke. They play some backgammon. Sawyer tells Locke what Kate has planned. They both run down to the boathouse to find Miles. They find him gone.

Meanwhile, Kate and Miles break into John’s cottage. They go see Ben. Miles says that his employer has put in a lot of time and energy to find Ben. He offers to lie to his employer for 3.2 million dollars. He gives him a week to come up with the money. Miles he says that he got her name when she called the freighter. He knows that she is a fugitive.

He tells her to stay on the island. On the way up the stairs, Locke and Sawyer walk into them. John tells her to go back to her place.

John comes by to talk with Kate. She tells him what Miles and Ben talked about. John tells her that she isn’t welcome anymore. She needs to leave by morning.

In the future, Kate has a private meeting with her mom. Her mom is the prime witness of the prosecution. Her mom says that it all changed when she thought Kate was dead. She’s living on borrowed time. She’s had 6 months to live during the last four years. Her mom wants to see her grandson.

Kate comes by to see Sawyer. She tells him that Locke banished her.

Charlotte and Dan are doing another experiment with cards. Jack comes by to wonder why he can’t get through to the boat. He makes Charlotte use their emergency number. Regina answers. Regina doesn’t know anything about Sayid. She didn’t know that anyone was coming back from the island. This means that something happened to Desmond and Sayid.

Locke has got Miles strung up. He puts a live grenade in Miles’ mouth. Sawyer thinks that Kate thinks that she still is preggers. She says that she isn’t preggers. Kate says that she is going back to the beach. This means that Sawyer is the father of her child.

The DA wants to approach the bench. The DA says that Diane Jensen, Kate’s mom, can’t testify due to medical reasons. The judge gives her until lunch. The DA offers four years. Her lawyer wants four years suspended. The DA says that she will get 10 years probation and she has to stay in the state. She can’t leave. Kate accepts the deal. She sees Jack in the garage. Jack doesn’t want to see the baby. She says that they won’t be going for coffee until he can see the kid. Maybe this means that Sawyer is dead.

Kate comes home. Her son is Aaron. This means that Claire is dead. She wouldn’t leave her son voluntarily. Jack must have been involved in the way that Claire died.

I’m changing up the style of blogging for this one. It’s an “almost live-blog

I’m changing up the style of blogging for this one. It’s an “almost live-blog”. Since I don’t have a laptop, I have a hard time typing and updating the blog while I watch. However, I do have a palm and a keyboard so I can type while I watch, it’s just more of a process to get that info form there to here. So, what you’ll read are bullet points on what I thought as I watched through. It was a lot of fun to do, so let me know what you think of the new format.

Locke is making eggs. Ahh I see, Ben is in the basement. Once again Ben owns Locke. He’s great at keeping a cool face in front of Ben, but he’s kind of dumb to think that Ben can’t hear him when he’s 20 ft down the hall.

Kate and Sawyer exchange some verbal jabs, always fun. And….FLASH FORWARD! Cut through the legal mumbo jumbo and Kate gets remanded. Man, it’s like Law and Order! We just need McCoy to show up and send her to prison. I love Law and Order.

Kate just got owned by Locke. He gets harder to like all the time. I want him to be right, but he’s not making it easy.

“You just Scooby Doo’d me didn’t you?” Hurley to Kate

Kate just told her lawyer, “You are not using my son!” And a shocked silence descended over the living room.

Kate’s not good with babies. Just as a note Kate, you may want to start working on that…

And Jack is now lying under oath. That is interesting. Details that could be important – 8 survivors, crashed in the water. There are hints of truth, Kate provided first aid to Jack.

Dharma Red Wine in a box. Amazing.

If you couldn’t logically determine it by this point, Kate reveals what the rest of us know: she needs to bust out Ben.

Wow, so the last sequence kept me too engaged to write. At first I wasn’t sure if Sawyer was in on it. But apparently Kate just used him and he didn’t know. The Con is conned again. I find it very humorous that Miles just wanted to extort Ben. Now Kate knows everyone knows about her. What drives her back off the island still has me wondering. I also almost expected Locke to appear and shoot Miles before he could tell Kate anything. That feels like Locke’s style recently.

<Locke continues his trend of awesome and kicks Kate out of his group.

Kate and her mom have a heart to heart, but Kate feels manipulated and kicks her momma outta her….prison….home.

Dang it, Sawyers was in on it. I was conned! Sawyer unbanishes Kate and seduces her with his Han Solo-esque scoundrel ways. Yes, I’m sure someone has said it before, but Sawyer is the Han Solo of the 21st century.

Jack is tired of reaching no one on the phone, so they call the “emergency number”. Their phone conversation determines that the helicopter hasn’t arrived. Of course the island members probably think they crashed or are dead. I just keep thinking about where in the space-time continuum they got lost. We already know there’s some kind of buffer between time outside and inside the island. I guess the question now is does it fluctuate (which it seems is possible)?

Wow, grenade in the mouth. That is brutal. Locke, you are one with the path of awesome. /end sarcasm

Sawyer’s scoundrelly ways backfire. He may be harsh, but it’s possibly true; Kate has been known to vacillate.

And Kate gets off almost scott-free. McCoy wouldn’t have made a deal. Not that we couldn’t have assumed that from the beginning. Jack wants to chill with Kate, but not with Kate’s kid. Whose identity has become obvious over the process of the show. And at the end when Kate says “Hi Aaron”, I’m not surprised. It doesn’t detract from how awesome this show is overall, but…well let’s summarize.

Good episode overall, but it’d definitely my least favorite of the season so far. This one just didn’t surprise me or hit me in the gut like the last few have. It’s important to figure out what’s up with Kate in the future and figure out how she’s gets off, but it’s just not that compelling to me. The reveal of Aaron as one of the Oceanic Six doesn’t really surprise me either as Desmond “saw” Claire and Aaron get on the chopper if Charlie went down to the hourglass. The questions are what are going to haunt us: Where’s Claire? How did Kate end up with Aaron? Why does Jack hate the island so much? Ok, that last one may take a lot longer to figure out.

Well, it’s been fun, and I hope you enjoyed my random thoughts. Thoughts? Theories? Comments? Leave em below!

A review of the past week’s episode of LOST from a frustratedly loyal (and loyally frustrated) fan.

A review of the past week’s episode of LOST from a frustratedly loyal (and loyally frustrated) fan. This week: Kate Austen, Babynapper in Eggtown.

LOST, Episode 4.04

Eggtown

I. Raising Aaron-zona

A. Past, present or future, Kate’s story is about as compelling as drying cement. What a shock, she’s back in handcuffs! Who would have guessed?! And she ran away from the Island! And now she’s a babynapper! So many harrowing twists and turns that I never saw coming! There might have been a little suspense for her story if I hadn’t watched the same things happen to Kate in every single Kate-centric episode. Believe me, I wish I hadn’t seen every other Kate-centric episode. They’re like Nickleback songs – you catch one and you have a pretty good idea how all the others are going to go.

B. Future Jack is Fack, Future Hurley is Futurley and Future Sayid is Fayid (which I guess makes him Egyptian instead of Iraqi), but Future Kate can’t be Fate, because that’s too beautiful of a summation to be wasted on her. I’d prefer FuKate, which looks a little like FU, Kate, which is pretty much how I feel during most episodes.

C. I don’t quite understand why the D.A. would push so hard on this case, especially after all of the (presumed) Oceanic Six hubbub surrounding FuKate. There’s gotta be some heavy public backlash for prosecuting the hero/survivor, so I don’t see what makes them pursue the case so hard. Unless she had to watch hours upon hours of Kate-centric television and formed an unhealthy personal vendetta…in that case, I guess I could sympathize.

D. Hard to believe that Claire would want anyone else raising her kid, much less Kate. First, there’s the small detail of the psychic warning her of impending doom when Aaron is raised by anyone who isn’t Claire. Then there’s the glowing track record of Kate’s previous relationships. If the baby handover consisted of anything less than Claire getting knocked out with a blackjack/sock full of quarters, then color me confused.

E. Is she hell-bent on going to jail? She tries to block Jack as a character witness, denies the move to put her “kid” in the courtoom and plays it unecessarily headstrong with ever possible escape she is offered. After a lifetime of running away, what makes an 8×8 cell so appealing? Has she turned into a wannabe martyr like Jack? Is she planning to get transferred to the nuthouse with Futurley, cover her entire body with tattoos that include blueprints of the facility and hatch a meticulous plan to bust both of them out at once?

F. I know she cleared it up later and probably caved in when her lawyer (thinking logically, what a concept) stepped in, but the fact that she would initially rebuff her mom’s painfully easy deal is mind-blowing. Give the woman an hour or so with a kid who won’t remember her the next day anyway. It’s not like they’ll be hitting up Disneyland with grandma on the oxygen tank. One afternoon and you get spared life in prison.

G. I fail to see the vilification of Kate’s mom anyway. Yeah, she tried to turn you in a couple times. That’s almost as harsh of a betrayal as blowing up someone’s spouse. Plus, you know that stepdad was kind of a loser, and the life insurance settlement couldn’t have been that high. So mom’s probably got a decent reason to be pissed. FuKate getting counter-pissed because mom is pissed is pretty much the epitome of her idiotic insistence on being stubborn in the face of better options. There’d better be a future flashback showing that mom used to whip Kate with a belt and once killed her dog in front of her, otherwise I fail to see the motivation there. Actually, there’d better NOT be a future flashback, because the thought of another Kate-centric episode makes me want to carve out my eyes with something dull and rusty.

H. The case really falls apart when Mom doesn’t take the stand? How about the cop/husband that she drugged and abandoned? Maybe the wife or family of the childhood friend who died when Kate ran from the hospital? Something tells me that when your entire case rests on a family member being cool with sending their kin to jail for life, you haven’t done enough work. I guess I should watch more Law & Order.

I. Does Fack know that Aaron is his half-nephew? Is that why he doesn’t want to see him? Or is there something wrong with the kid, or with Kate, that is keeping him from checking in? Does he know that Kate raising the kid means bad things (on SO many levels)? Or is it just his paralyzing fear of commitment making things difficult again?

J. Do all the kids age like crazy once they get off the Island? First Walt comes back looking like he’s NBA-bound, and now Aaron, who looks fresh out of the womb in every Island scene, seems to be about three good weeks away from getting his driver’s permit. Seriously, that kid grew like Jack’s facial hair, it’s uncanny.

II. The Shepard, The Lambs He’s Leading To Slaughter, And The Leftover Not-Quite Rescue Rangers

A. Very smart of Jack to continually use the phone to no avail when two of the people who came to the Island with working knowledge of said phones are sitting around watching him. Clearly the man is a master of modern technology, as evidenced by his work on the Hatch computer…or with the radio transmission…or with the walkie talkies. You’ve got a physicist running scientific time-lapse field tests sitting next to you, and you can’t delegate responsibility. How, exactly, did he give the impression that the Lostaway society was a democracy?

B. Was Daniel predicting the playing cards? When he said he was a physicist, did he make a mental typo? Also, while Benry and the Others had a lot to do with it, you can’t deny that the downfall of the Dharma Initiative was brought about partly because of superfluous expenses like Dharma-branded playing cards.

C. The mystery of the missing helicopter – a significantly underwhelming mystery when Daniel has evidence of space-time discrepancies on and off the Island – could have probably been avoided if they parked their freighter ANYWHERE along the horizon line of the Island. Maybe the chopper was nearly out of gas because you’re taking off from Zimbabwe.

III. The People’s Republic Of Locke

A. I take issue with Benry’s snide comment about Johnboy evolving, because it’s clear to everyone that nothing has changed. This time he makes a nice meal and delivers it to the man trapped in the room with a calm demeanor and a “I’m totally in control” smirk, he deflects all the pointed jabs from his prisoner and then has a COMPLETE MELTDOWN once the door is shut, still clearly in earshot of the guy who was screwing with him. It’s the exact same damn thing he did two seasons ago in the Hatch. Seriously, take a walk up the stairs before you smash the plates – that would show progress. What’s the point of facing Benry down with the Sad Clown face when you’re going to completely blow your position of power seconds later?

B. It’s a shame we had to wait this long to see Locke’s inner Martha Stewart come out. First he brews iced tea, now he’s fixing Benry up a Grand Slam breakfast and planning a Hawaiian Luau for his merry men. Throw in his hunting prowess, his unabashed naiveté and his willingness to get talked or tricked into doing virtually anything and he sounds like the perfect husband. It’s surprising he isn’t more of a sex symbol…although I guess it would be more of a “nonloving domestic tolerance” symbol. Plus he hasn’t grown facial hair in 90 days! Can you imagine how much money you save on razors? If it wasn’t for Benry practically being his common-law wife at this point, he’d be a hell of a steal, ladies.

C. I understand that you’ve gotta keep Hurley happy and moving around, what with his self-confidence issues and his former fellow outcast Chuckles drifting out to sea somewhere, but I’m amazed at the number of important tasks that they leave to him, knowing full well the results of his previous important tasks. He likes food, couldn’t he help Locke cook dinner? Couldn’t Rousseau or Alex or Karl or anyone else have been on lunch duty? It’s almost like Locke WANTED everyone to know, as Sawyer aptly pointed out.

D. Don’t you think that the question of “do you know who I am?” could have come up during the extended walk from the helicopter to the barracks last episode? If you waited to bait-and-switch with Charlotte, diss Sawyer, cross Locke, fool Hurley and stage a prison break just so Sayid wouldn’t find out that you’re a wanted fugitive, I’ve got some bad news: he probably already knows.

E. Whoever rigged the Team Locke housing lottery to put Sawyer and Hurley together deserves a bonus. This season needs at least five more episodes just so one of them can focus entirely on the Island Odd Couple story of Hugo and James. Hugo gets into hijinks (namely messing up whatever previous important task the others had foolishly assigned him), James gets fed up, then the two hatch (pun!) some foolish plan to make everything right again, only to have the plan fall apart and their landlord, Mr. Locke, gets upset. And then he puts a grenade in their mouth.

F. Totally crazy that a guy who works as a ghostchaser would end up running an extortion scheme for his own personal benefit. Tremendous work on that background check, Diet Eko/Naomi/Other Folks.

G. Did neither Miles nor Kate think about the fact that they left Benry UNTIED in an unlocked room inside his own house? That’s why I think Kate will work out as a mother – her intuitive sense of responsibility.

H. Commandant Locke needs to issue a decree about knocking before you enter the room. Then again, he needs to learn to follow that rule himself. Just because you spent the last two months living in tents and tarps doesn’t mean civilization is completely abandoned. Doors don’t exist only to be slammed when you have a hissy fit, John.

While the rest of us are distracted by Eggtown (like anybody cool watched Lost beyond the first season) and I spend my time trying to work out if “Sarah Connor Chronicles’ is good or shite, I just realised that there are much more interesting things going on in the real world (and no, we’re not getting into that whole retarded ‘but what does ‘real‘ mean exactly’ thing again), things like THIS! How amazing is that? I can’t wait for the whole US to go all barb wire and become much more interesting, hopefully with Obama as some sort of post-apocalypse JFK leading the north, and Kevin Costner riding around the south for the pony express (By which I mean the postal service, not the cheerleading squad, sorry). It has to beat the entire, stupid output of US media right now, which mainly consists of “OOOOH- Governer X was nice to his female admin staff- he aint fit to be no gawsh darned president”. I’ve always been nice to admin staff, and I can honestly declare that I’ve only ever slept with one of them, so how about some real news for a change. Anyway, end of cliched internet rant, back to what the internet is actually for- ‘Who is hottest out of Psylocke and She-Hulk?’ (I’m going green on this issue).
