Hows about glass. Or if not glass, something else, wood, or clay, something frangible…It just strikes me that the imaginings consistently fail to answer questions so maybe we’re all on the wrong track.

Maybe the ancient Egyptians figured out how to liquify then pour stone and the building of it was done with easily constructed and maneuverable wood forms. The same might apply to Easter Island’s mysteries, to Stonehenge.

Let’s say…whoops… humankind simply forgot the formula. Say it used to be done all the time, no big deal. Say some old bricklayer’s journal from a hundred thousand years ago is uncovered. He has written:

“Really this seems a waste of time to me when the bears need herding and the orangery needs a new roof, but the wife wants me to record the formula. She had a dream everybody forgot then the whole city collapsed and a plague came. Boy am I sick of plagues.

“So here it is: To make rocks of granite for building, you first get the granite or whatever you’ve got handy into liquid form so you can work with it easy as pie. ‘Everybody knows that. Try to get some of these modern kids to carve stone, forget about it. So it needs to get into liquid. Do it on Monday, National Look Up At The Cliff day. You climb up to a hill top with your buddies and some good corn liquor and a couple of friendly girls and when you’re all feeling happy and strong you loosen up some big stones from the hill and roll them off the cliff. Try to get them near the workshop. The rock pushing thing always has a sweet effect on the girls. Then you walk down the hill. Then you soak your chunks in sea water and lavender branches, don’t forget the marjoram and a bit of hay, and saffron if you’ve got it, and some like adding tail of lizard but go easy or it’ll never melt. On Tuesday under a full moon (National Take A Bath Today day) everybody from the east meadow Magic Huts of Knowledge and Splendor comes over and spits on the rocks twice while three elders and one comely virgin dance the Make the Stone to Liquid Dance. And don’t forget to make a feast or you never get them back. (Bear is good, some like fish and there’s always one vegetarian; give the mother-in-law something special). You repeat this for two hundred years and you’ve got liquified rock and that’s how we build all the big stuff. Good thing I’m writing this down on cloth. Everybody knows cloth lasts forever. Okay. The bride is happy. I get sweet and sour barbequed mastodon toes for dinner after all.”

Amenemhet III was handed a peaceful reign, his father Sesostris III had given him a land on good diplomatic terms with her northern neighbours, Nubia firmly under Egypt’s control and the power of the Nomarchs finally ended.

His mortuary temple at Hawara, is accompanied by a pyramid and may have been known to Herodotus who praised it as a wonder of the world.

The king’s pyramid at Hawara contained some of the most complex security features of any found in Egypt and is perhaps the only one to come close to the sort of tricks Hollywood associates with such structures. Nevertheless, the king’s burial was robbed in antiquity.

These excerpts, little poems in themselves, are from a longer poem titled The Nile Psalter that I wrote recently. The poem is part of Egyptian Pyramids, a collection of poems and a little short fiction that I’m compiling for self-publishing in the very near future. For now, enjoy this:

The Nile Psalter

II

Meanwhile replies of Gods were given
They met me here
A snake A bush A rock
And even an Assyrian bull
Though a Guardian bull
Stretched Emissary wings to me
The sails of an Eastern God-King
Billowed with a phantom wind
As he cut the heavens in two

But this is not what I asked for
Still I wait

V

In the back alley of the old library
You know
The one the Romans burned
I’m carrying this papyrus scrap
Meet me by the old Lighthouse
You know
The one that crumbled to the Sea
Bring me what you know it’s worth
This is the Testament of an antique God
Described in a long dead tongue

The Egyptian pyramids was constructed with One hundred thousand slaves tug multi-ton blocks across the desert. A complicated series of pulleys lifts each hand-cut stone into the perfect place. This is history’s image of ancient Egyptian pyramid construction.

What if the Egyptians were using an easier, more efficient method? Recent theories and scientific evidence suggest that people assembled cement blocks on site to construct the exterior of the pyramids. Here’s why everything you thought you knew about how we built the Great Pyramids is probably wrong.

Materials scientist Joseph Davidovits suggests a more realistic way to look at how the pyramids were built. Unconvinced of Egyptian abilities to construct and move large blocks to create the pyramids, Davidovits posits that Eqyptians molded blocks from limestone and vegetable matter available nearby. These blocks, built on site, are then used to build the pyramids. Existing only as a hypothesis, Davidovits later supported his idea using X-Ray Diffraction data, a technique common in chemistry and material science.

Scientific inquiries revolve around the “casing stones” used on the pyramids – the outer layer of polished stone. In the paper X-Ray Analysis and X-Ray Diffraction of Casing Stones from the Pyramids of Egypt, and the Limestone of the Associated Quarries, Davidovits looks at stones from six different sites.

Through analysis, the casing stones at the sites contain air bubbles. This is stark contrast to rocks from the quarries, quarries the casing stones are typically associated with, with the quarry rock containing no bubbles. The presence of air bubbles in the casing stones supports the “cement” theory. Davidovits also wrote a journal article describing how a cement-like substance could be made using local fauna and tools like antlers and bone.

Pliny the Elder, a historian and Naval Commander in Rome during the first century C.E wrote Naturalis Historia , an early attempt to construct an encyclopedia. Pliny the Elder makes several references to Egyptian created “formed” stones, particularly in the creation of vases:

In this way occurs a multitude of heaps (of minerals) which can be transformed into real rocks. They Egyptians make vases in this way. Granted, Pliny wrote thousands of years after the creation of the pyramids, but this notation provides evidence of a cement-like technology used by the Egyptians two thousand years ago.

Davidovits’ work is often discounted due to the aspect that he is the originator of the cement pyramids theory. Other scientists, however, are using modern techniques to examine the stones. In the 2011 paper, Were the casing stones of Senefru’s Bent Pyramid in Dahshour cast or carved? Multinuclear NMR evidence, nuclear magnetic resonance experiments show the casing stones of Senefru’s Bent Pyramid to be a combination of limestone grains from one quarry cemented with a calcium-silicate gel from a second quarry.

Although multiple research groups provide evidence for cement-based casing stones, Egyptologists are rather reluctant to accept these scientific inquiries. Zahi Hawass, long time (and now former) Egyptian Minister of Antiquities calls the theory of cement-cast pyramids “plain stupid”, adding in a 2006 conversation: Of course they’re not. They’re made from solid blocks of quarried limestone. To suggest otherwise is idiotic and insulting.

It is rather difficult to change decades of thinking, especially in a science that often relies on subjective and visual interpretations to reach conclusions. So were the pyramids constructed with cement? It’s certainly a plausible theory, and it eliminates the questions surrounding how a civilization cut and transported the massive stones from quarries. No aliens or futuristic technology needed – only locally made cement and molds. A cement cast would allow for on-site production, decrease time & personnel needs, and create a uniform shape. If Ockham’s Razor applies, Davidovits’ view is the winner.

We shall discuss here a few contemporary situations. Over here such an analysis has been made that lest due efforts were made to reform future times it would benefit one and all. Yet since this has not happened despair overtaking our psyche is natural but know that it is a dire thing to happen. As a result of it our will power breaks down and zest gets obstructed.

It is not as though creative endeavors have come to a total grinding halt. No doubt laxness has entered efforts that try to reform present times and render the future radiant yet it is not totally absent. If man’s zest is oozing forth then despite the attacks of obstacles so much can be done which can only be called stupendous. Potent efforts that lead to building of Egyptian Pyramids, Panama Canal, Suez Canal, Great Wall of China etc have been executed in an atmosphere of hopeful enterprise. When many people together lift a very heavy object their collective energy shouts aloud ‘Heya’ which reaps success for them in their endeavor.

In the 2nd world war when Britain was facing defeat its Prime Minister gave a slogan to the British citizens called ‘V for Victory’ in order to fire up their mental power. It meant that we shall definitely win even if the enemy is very mighty. This slogan got broadcasted in such a widespread manner that it became a symbol of definite faith and victory. This slogan shouting showcased a miraculous transformation and that Europe which was staring at defeat now started fighting the enemy with revved up fire in their bellies. A tattered Japan despite the fearful situation of Hiroshima took up creative tasks. It did not allow the will power of its citizen to weaken even a wee bit and hence in the world of finance it is a big leader. This is definite that if people’s faith based on the needs of the times of this era is given a wholesome direction to their thinking process then there is no reason why a joyous world future and radiant situations shall not manifest. This flow shall render straight that which is lopsided with great effort and know that it shall definitely be made possible.

Almost everything they teach us about the ancient history is wrong: origin of men, civilizations, and pyramids. Homo sapiens sapiens is not a result of the evolution, and biologists will never find a “missing link”, because the intelligent man is product of genetic engineering. Sumerians are not the beginning of the civilized men, but rather beginning of another cycle of humanity. And finally, original pyramids, most superior and oldest, were made by advanced builders who knew energy, astronomy and construction better than we do.

In order to understand the ancient monuments, we need to view them through three realms: physical, energy and spiritual. Our scientific instruments are simply not enough to explain the purpose of oldest pyramids, for example. Mainstream scientists, archaeologists, historians and anthropologists are often main obstacle for scientific progress.

Gap between physical and spiritual science is to be bridged if we want to get fully understanding of the past.

Twelve hundred ton stone block in Baalbeck (Lebanon) needs explanation. Who was able to shape, move and install four times bigger blocks than our, 21st century, capabilities? Yonaguni megalithic monuments (Japan) do belong to the previous cycle of humanity. They are undeniable proof, on the bottom of the Pacific floor, 80 meters below the ocean level, that advanced culture lived in the area more than 12.000 years ago before huge quantities of ice melted and caused Pacific level to rise for 80 meters. Machu Picchu (Peru) tells the story of four distinctive civilizations and different construction styles, first civilization being the most advanced. At the same time, all the history books make up story of Inkas being the builders of “royal retreat” in the recent times. New dating of Peruvian, Mexican, Chinese and Egyptian pyramids will take us back much before recognized history and known rulers.

Oldest Chinese and Egyptian pyramids are much superior to those made later as unsuccessful replicas. Older are built from granite and sandstone blocks, more recent ones are much smaller, built from bricks and mud. Traces of more advanced beings are everywhere around us. In the meantime, mainstream scientists try to fit those monuments into their time coordinates, falsifying the truth.

Two hundred Cahokia pyramids show astronomical knowledge of the builders who moved several million tons of construction materials and who knew the difference between cosmic and magnetic north. Mayan world is an example of the knowledge of the Universe. Our Solar system circles Milky Way and that 26-thousand years cycle (”long count calendar”) affect all living life on our Planet. Anasazies, ancestors of Pueblo Indians, didn’t need alphabet or physical communication means to recognize danger in different dimensions coming from the depth of the Universe.

As long as they stay within the box, mainstream archaeologists will never be able to explain tooling and logistic needed to build stone heads on Easter Islands, shape granite blocks of Akapana pyramid complex in Bolivia or create chambers of Giza pyramids.

Stone spheres of western Mexico, southern Costa Rica, Easter Island or twenty locations in remote Bosnia-Herzegovina, are obvious proof of understanding and manipulating of shapes and energy in the distant past.

On top of all that, discovery of the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids is telling us that we don’t know our Planet. We might go to the Moon (temporarily, until threaten), but we still need to explore our Mother Earth. More secrets wait to be uncovered and, with the ancient knowledge, help us reach our balance back.

In April 2005, I first traveled to the town of Visoko, 20 miles northwest from Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina. My attention was caught by two regularly shaped hills, which I later named the Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. For thousands of years locals have considered those hills to be natural phenomena because they were covered by soil and vegetation. However, when I first saw their triangular faces, obvious corners and orientation toward the cardinal points, I knew that they had to be constructed by a force other than nature. Since I had been investigating pyramids for decades, I knew that the pyramids found in China, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador had the same type of soil and vegetation coverage.

In 2005, work has begun on this project and construction companies and geologists were paid (out of my pocket) to do core drilling and geomorphological analysis. We then announced to the world, at the press conference, that the first pyramids in Europe had been discovered.

Shortly thereafter we established the non-profit Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun Foundation and since that time the pyramid investigations in Bosnia have become the world’s largest interdisciplinary archaeological project. We have spent over 340,000 man-hours in archaeological excavation, sample testing and radiocarbon dating in the period from 2005 to 2011. We determined that the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids consists of five pyramids discovered to date which I named: The Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun, Moon, Dragon, Mother Earth and Love. The site also includes a tumulus complex and a huge underground labyrinth.

This discovery is historic and changes the knowledge of the early history of Europe for several reasons:

These are the first pyramids discovered in Europe

The site includes the largest pyramid structure in the world—The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun with its height of over 220 meters is much higher than the Great Pyramid of Egypt (147 meters).

The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun has, according to the Bosnian Institute for Geodesy, the most precise orientation towards cosmic north with the error of 0 degrees, 0 minutes and 12 seconds.

The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is completely covered by rectangular concrete blocks. The properties of the concrete, including extreme hardness (up to 133 MPs) and low water absorption (around 1%), are, according to the scientific institutions in Bosnia, Italy and France, far superior to modern concrete materials.

The pyramids are covered by soil which is, according to the State Institute for Agro-pedology, approx. 12,000 years old. Radiocarbon dating from the paved terrace on Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon, performed by Institute of Physics of Silesian Institute of Technology from Gliwice (Poland) confirmed that terrace was built 10,350 years ago (+/- 50 years). These finding confirm that the Bosnian pyramids are also the oldest known pyramids on the planet.

Beneath the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids there is an extensive underground tunnel and chamber network which runs for a total of more than ten miles.

Ceramic sculptures have been discovered in the underground labyrinth with a mass of up to 20,000 pounds which makes them the largest found so far from the ancient world.

The list of the wonders in Bosnian archaeology does not end here. In the vicinity, we discovered the tallest tumulus in the World: 61 meter high. Its nearest competitor, Sillbury Hill in England is 60 meters high. The Bosnian tumulus consists of two-layer megalithic terraces, clay layers and artificial concrete layers.

A team of physicists detected an energy beam coming through the top of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun. The radius of the beam is 4.5 meters with a frequency of 28 kHz. The beam is continuous and its strength grows as it moves up and away from the pyramid. This phenomenon contradicts the known laws of physics and technology. This is the first proof of non-herzian technology on the Planet. It seems that the pyramid builders created a perpetual motion machine a long time ago and this “energy machine” is still working.

In the underground labyrinth, in 2010, we discovered three chambers and a small blue lake. Energy screening shows that the ionization level is 43 times higher than the average concentration outside which makes the underground chambers into “healing rooms”.

Further electromagnetic detection in 2011 confirmed that levels of negative radiation through the Hartman, Curry and Schneider grids are equal to zero in the tunnels. There was no technical radiation (from power lines and/or other technology) found in the tunnels and no cosmic radioactivity. Ceramic sculptures are positioned over the underground water flows and the negative energy is transformed into positive. All of these experiments point to the underground labyrinth as one of the most secure underground constructions in the world and this makes it an ideal place for the body’s rejuvenation and regeneration.

Two hundred years of Egyptology has not produced a satisfactory answer to the question of what the real purpose was for the oldest and most superior pyramids.

In only six years, our research in Bosnia has applied interdisciplinary scientific methods, to look at this complex through the physical, energetic and spiritual dimensions. We have had pioneering results which affects the entire sphere of knowledge and Pyramid Science. Our history is changing with each new discovery.

Perhaps by changing our beginnings or learning to better understand our beginnings we can also change our present and our future for the better.

Welcome to Rudan Thursdays where we talk about…things! Anything from books and movies, to blog posts and authors, to food and drink.

I’m still here! You may have noticed something missing from Tuesday’s post…more accurately, the post itself.. (add rim shot here)

In the days since my last post I’ve been busy with family, the holidays—and world building for my new series. In all of the excitement, I literally forgot which days were which and, yesterday morning, found myself realizing I’d totally forgotten about the tursan, or journey, I’d promised.

Whoops.

Allow me to correct this immediately. As I said, I’ve been in a frenzy of world building. I LOVE the History Channel. Something I’ve always loved doing, and only recently starting using as a plotting method, is watch the History Channel.

You may not have noticed, but I sort of have a thing for history.

Anyway, on said channel a year or so ago I’d stumbled upon a program all about aliens visiting our planet thousands of years ago, and I found it fairly entertaining. Then, over the holidays, I discovered that the producers have created an entire series based on these so-called happenings and call it, Ancient Aliens.

Basically, the entire premise is about the theory that aliens not only visited our planet in ancient times, but directly contributed to our various cultures. The believers call it the Ancient Astronaut Theory.

This theory proposes “that historical texts, archeology and legends contain evidence of past human-extraterrestrial contact.”

They’ve even said there was a huge evolutionary jump approximately 3000 bce and the cause for this was these aliens having direct, intimate contact with our ancestors—by somehow changing our DNA in order to make us more intelligent.

More advanced.

More like them.

True? Who knows.

There are plenty of historians and scientists who call this theory, and any related to it, pseudoscience and pseudohistory. They state the believers in this theory take historical events, texts, and so forth and reinterpret them to suit their own purposes. They further intimate that closely regarding these theories and holding them up to the light reveals the fragile substance and lack of foundation.

True? Again, who really knows?

The fact is, none of us was alive thousands of years ago and so cannot say for sure who did what to whom and when.

I am no scientist…I didn’t make it past biology in high school, and I certainly have no designs on interpreting historical evidence and proclaiming it either fact or fiction.

I simply love a good story.

What I can say for a fact—this show got my creative juices flowin’. Right from the start my imagination began creating hundreds of different scenes and quests and journeys. The last few days have been quite the adventure

So talk to me. What do you think?

Was our planet visited by alien beings thousands of years ago?

Over 2,000 years ago, ancient Greek scholars named seven of the most wondrous monuments to civilization, including the Pyramids of Egypt and State of Zeus at Olympia.

Through the centuries these treasures were known as the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Because all but the Egyptian pyramids have been lost to the ravages of time, a new list of seven wonders was wstablished in 2007.

These monuments, including Machu Picchu and the Great Wall of Chine, symbolize the creativity and ingenuity of human civilization.

Can you believe that over 5,500 years ago there were ancient engineers who were much more skilled at math than some of us today? The irrigation systems of the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians were constructed using geometry. They also used their knowledge of math and geometry to solve problems of astronomy. By 2,900 B.C.E. the Egyptians used their knowledge of math and geometry to build the Great Pyramid of Giza. By 300 B.C.E. there was a renowned university in Alexandria (Egypt) complete with famous math instructors. Alexandria was (and still is) located along the Mediterranean Sea, talk about a nice college campus.

Black History This blog is not just about my hate for black history but I’m going to try and give my

Black History

This blog is not just about my hate for black history but I’m going to try and give my view on black history as well and what it entails, because for some, black history is treated as if black people didn’t exist before slavery. However if one is looking at black British history (which we dont) in the UK its amazing how much black people have affected the UK today.

Black history month can take a long running jump off the edge of a cliff as far as I’m concerned. Black history month is given to appease people of a black skin colour for one month out of the whole year. I personally, with every fibre of my being, am against BLACK HISTORY MONTH, for the following reasons:

It’s one month

Personally I feel as if “they” (Being the powers that be, the government), in order to seem racially accepting, have sacrificed a month and called it black history and expect that to keep black people happy. As children, history lessons at school and general history events are all about European history, Roman, Greek, English, French and some German.

Young people from minority races know more about Roman and Greek history than they do about themselves. What I find equally interesting is amongst my Asian friends; teaching of their rich culture and history is done in the home and I find it sad that this is not reflected amongst African, Caribbean, South American and Eastern European cultures, or maybe it is and I just haven’t come across it as much.

A lot of people ask; what can we really learn from history? But I feel a lot of minority races in the U.K have lost their way because of their lack of knowledge of history; they don’t know where they have come from they don’t really know who they are. They don’t really have a culture to be proud of and I think this leads to people trying to create a culture, as seen in our “Urban culture”, which in no way reflects black people. Many times I have heard someone say “he or she is trying to act black”, when the person is white and trying to rap, wear certain clothes or act a certain way. Why have we allowed a hip hop industry look, gangster slang and a bad attitude to determine what people see as black? I find that sad because that is not what being black is.

Black history shouldn’t be determined by a month it should be integral to the learning of children everywhere, I think this would help stop racism from other races if they knew more about the history of black people instead of seeing them just as savages and I think it would help black people have more a sense of pride and self-worth. Kids are so used to hearing about Kings and Queens, warriors and heroes of European countries and even in pictures and fancy dress this is how they imagine themselves, it would be nice if they could have a similar love for their own history.

What is black?

There is POWER in UNITY, but I also believe there is power in DIVERSITY, I believe by having black history month you throw all black people into one big pot and you can’t and defiantly shouldn’t try to do that. Black is nothing more than a colour of skin, the history of a Caribbean, South American and African are all very different and diverse and beautiful in themselves, even closer to home the history of Ghana is different to that of Nigeria. Why do we have to define ourselves by the colour of skin this was never ever done before slavery, a Nigerian is Nigerian, I am a South American, Guyanese and Brazilian and that is what I am. The only similarities I have with a Nigerian is we share a similar skin shade, our food, our music even our physical features differ greatly, you would never have a white history month and try to put all white history into one because we don’t see white as a race the same way black is, we see French, German, Roman and Greek as all different people with their own cultures…Why can’t it be the same for black people? I don’t want to hear about black history I want to hear about Nigerian history, I want to hear about Jamaican history. I think we need to stop pretending we are all one people and trying to mesh together instead lets realise we are diverse people and try to come together with that understanding.

Black is not a country, Black is not a continent it is not a people let’s not allow the way others define ourselves force us to forget who we really are.

Who writes history

It’s interesting when you look at people like David Starkey and I’m sure many of you have seen his racist rant about how black people are to blame for the riots but he writes at least 75% of many of our GCSE and school history books and I’m sure he is not the only one. This country, only in the early 20th century, decided to say that black and whites are equal, it was only after 1950s that racism was branded as illegal and in 1962 Britain tried to pass laws to stop allowing black people entering the country. This was not that long ago and there is many other laws that didn’t happen to long ago that Britain should be ashamed of. It is this government which has allowed us to have a black history month, many of whose parents probably still agree with apartheid. We need to be careful and establish what is a genuine progression for “black” people and what is just something given to us to keep us happy.

From a very young age I have studied black history and wrote a poem I thought I would share with you. I wrote it when I was 18 so spare my feelings for the bad rhymes, but I hope you enjoy.

Why is it black history seems to begins

At slavery 1500

Followed by Rosa parks and Martin Luther king

Like Black people didn’t do anything before white people came on the scene

I’m sorry, who taught the world to read and write?

Was it not the Egyptians who made the first language written on papyrus and Pyramids’ that go sky high?

So forgive us by not being impressed by your sky scrapers because we built those years ago

The great kingdoms of Britain, Rome..we had those

The kingdom of the Congo

I know you know about Cleopatra the Nubian empire and how you could fit 10 England’s into the land conquered by the tribes in Nigeria

And England can be the land of hope and glory and America the land of the free and the brave

But realize Ghana was the gold coast until Europeans people came

So I hope I’m starting to build a bigger picture than just watching the film roots reading I have a dream and saying that’s black history

Did you know even in medieval times where the plague

Kept England in the Dark Age

That a rich Africa came over to the UK to trade

Spices, materials, metals precious stones glistening

Shining

Didn’t you Know Africa was the masters at mining

Even in the Caribbean
There where Carribs who roamed about
Before the Rasta’s with their dragon stout
Building town and cities
Way before slavery
And South America, my home where my heart skips a beat just thinking about the beauty of what I see when I close my eyes and picture the beach where my Grandma would take me every week

Years before the Europeans ruined it
The Aztecs in Brazil made huge towns made from just Silver and Gold shining in the sun
Can even start to picture it

All you have to do is look at the

Designs

Patterns

Colors

of African and South American outfits to know that our great X6 Grandparents were rocking some of the most funky outfits

But let me not get carried away and bring us back to the current day,

Because you need to know where you’re coming from and then you can know where you’re going to,

I’ve told you about the history of Kings and Queens and a legacy of conquers, academics, architects, designers and could go on about the musicians, artist, chefs, doctors, surgeons

Because I hope you know kings and queens from Europe came to Africa when the Greeks and Romans where still learning

About medicines herbs and remedies

So now you know where you’re coming from

It’s not the chains or the oppression or the slavery that was our beginning

That’s just a part of the journey

And since God has allowed us all to be here, call it permission

When they tell you black people are under achieving don’t even listen

So if you need to know where you’re come from you do now, it’s time for all of us

To choose the destination

Taken together, our findings provide evidence for the provocative notion that having access to the best things in life may actually undermine one’s ability to reap enjoyment from life’s small pleasures.

Our research demonstrates that a simple reminder of wealth produces the same deleterious effects as actual wealth on an individual’s ability to savor, suggesting that perceived access to pleasurable experiences may be sufficient to impair everyday savoring.

In other words, one need not actually visit the pyramids of Egypt or spend a week at the legendary Banff spas in Canada for one’s savoring ability to be impaired—simply knowing that these peak experiences are readily available may increase one’s tendency to take the small pleasures of daily life for granted.
