O Dieese (Departamento Intersindical de Estatística e Estudos Socioeconômicos) divulga o resultado da Pesquisa Nacional da Cesta Básica referente ao mês de novembro. A pesquisa avalia o valor do salário mínimo necessário para manutenção de uma família, através da medição dos preços da cesta básica.

Nos Estados Unidos, será divulgado o Fed’s Beige Book (o livro bege do Banco Central norte-americano), relatório sobre a atualidade econômica norte-americana, em que os bancos centrais regionais coletam dados sobre a atividade na região. Apesar de não representar a visão do Fed, o relatório é importante pois fornece informações sobre a atividade econômica regional.

Ainda nesta quarta, será divulgado o ADP Employment Report, que mede o número de postos de trabalho no setor privado dos EUA, divulgado em parceria com a entidade privada Macroeconomic Advisers. A EIA (Energy Information Administration) divulga a medição dos Estoques de Petróleo.

Recently, we have discussed the HL classes for Business Archtiecture (functions, processes, services) and Application Architecture (application classes and platforms) and Technology Architecture (domains and components).  Now let’s turn to Information Architecture, not Data Architecture.

In order to get started with Information Architecture, you need to identify all of the major “things” that your business produces or acquires information about.  We will call these information classes.  They are not databases or objects or  attributes.  They are conceptual in nature, but they represent the major entities that your enterprise requires information about.  These typically include entities such as customer, supplier, product or service, orders, items, employees, facilities, and inventory.  Of course, each enterprise may have their own language.  For instance, a financial services company may call their products by a different name, such as policy or account or fund.  And public sector organizations may not use the term customers, but rather citizens, constituents or voters.  And those in the healthcare related businesses would say patients.  In any case, you are primarily concerned with the group of people the enterprise is providing a service or product to, the sources of those products, and the major entitities involved in the production, stocking, logistics, ordering and delivery of said product or service.  You may have subclasses, as well, but for the purposes of getting started, we suggest no more than one level of decomposition.

Once the High Level Information Classes have been identified, they become more meaningful to EA work once you map them to the functional heirarchy and application classes. For more information and examples related to this type of information mapping, please see our Jump Start materials.

Tuesday: Made it back to the gym. I had managed to put it off for a week but I decided it was about time to kick myself into gear. I was hesitant because of the pain in my feet but also because the last 2 runs had been harder than normal. I put it down to having not run for a few weeks (my asthma deteriorates much quicker than my fitness) but was determined to run at least 6k. I actually only managed 5km on the treadmill, but then did 5km on the bike and then another 2k on the treadmill. Not a great result but hopefully I’ll be able to pick back up soon.

Wednesday: Pilates class in the morning as mentioned in Wednesday’s blog post. Basketball in the evening was pretty good, we played a 2 on 2 for most of the session.

Friday: I told myself I was going to go to the gym in the morning and then never got round to it (though I did manage my end-of-week-5 100 push ups exhaustion test). I then spent the rest of the afternoon feeling terribly guilty about it and resolved to try harder next week.

Archery in the evening. The heating has broken though so it was pretty cold, and that had a significant detrimental effect on my shot. Stayed for a couple of hours and then decided to call it a night.

Saturday: Went to archery armed with my Helly Hensen base layer and plenty of change for cups of tea. It was so cold that people started to leave early, reducing the amount of body heat (the only thing warming the place up) and making everyone else colder A few of us shot a Worcester round today instead of a Portsmouth (I scored a 270 – not too bad) and then I stuck around for the last day of the beginner’s course. The kid I was teaching did really well and hopefully he’ll decide to stay in the club.

Sunday: SCA played Leicester Crobas 2 today in our last game of the year. I played half the game, in alternating quarters, but didn’t score this time. We won 36-32, which was pretty good, so congrats to the guys.

The Energy Information Administration (“EIA”) reported today, U.S. natural gas inventories increased by 20 billion cubic feet (“Bcf”) for the week ended November 13 which was in line with analysts’ expectations. At 3,833 Bcf, stocks were 347 Bcf  higher than last year at this time and 419 Bcf  above the five-year average.

Natural gas traders continue to look at  weather forecasts for signs of cold winter weather conditions to create greater demand for  natural gas for heating. However, it appears that there is a lot of mixed weather forecasts out there, with some forecasts predicting moderate temperatures and others predicting cold weather in the major gas-consuming regions for late November and early December.

“Gas market participants are finding it hard to conclude that price will rise with fundamentals being as weak as they are,” – Mike Fitzpatrick, a broker with MF Global in New York, in a note to clients Thursday.

And though natural gas physical limitations are again being brought into question (physical storage limits are estimated at 3.9 to 4.0 trillion cubic feet) it is likely this will be avoided once cold weather heating kicks in. The  greater concern is how natural gas inventories exit the winter heating season and impact 2010 production levels and the exploration budgets of natural gas producers.

“At this point it really does come down to the weather,” said Peter Beutel, the President of Cameron Hanover, a New Canaan, Conn. energy advisory firm.

Tuesday: An hour of 1 on 1 basketball with Ally was all I managed today.

Wednesday: Signed up for a 1 day free gym trial but unfortunately this didn’t go to plan as I didn’t really get to trial anything…never mind. Got to basketball in the evening to find that the venue had put a load of desks out so we couldn’t train. Very annoying. Stumped at my 2 failed attempts at exercise today I got Ally to drop me off 500m from home on the way back from basketball. The car thermometer read 8 degrees. Needless to say, by the end of the run I was wheezing pretty badly. Last time I try that!

Friday: Spent a couple of hours at archery. Didn’t want to overdo it though as I had a postal league shoot the next day.

Saturday: First competition of the BA Postal League today. It would appear that something from our Saturday practice sessions paid off as I managed a 557. Not as great as the last few weeks as I started badly, but I’m quite happy with that.

Sunday: Had a really good basketball training session today, so thanks to Kev, Andy, Gaz and Al. We did many many layups, then a full court 2 on 2.

This should be an interesting week. We get two days together and you get two days away from me. Whether I’m there or not, the theme of the week is getting it together. One big assignment (Human Demographics) and two small assignments (Personal Water Use and Mining) will be due by the end of the week. I think the best plan of attack is to focus all class time on these three projects so we can come back next week and focus on our last in-class project and our Final PESTLE project .

Absoloutely tragic week as far as running goes. I’ve started looking at the pay-as-you-go council run gyms in the area in an attempt to get some treadmill time.

Monday: Too cold to run today so I did a mini weights session at home in the evening.

Thursday: Finally got an hour of basketball in at the leisure centre as per last Friday’s post.

Friday: Spent 3 and a half hours at archery – though the first half an hour was setting up and the next 2 hours was spent coaching.

Saturday: Shot another Portsmouth at archery in the morning and actually managed to beat last week’s score, giving me a new PB of 562.

Sunday: Had our game against Bury Bombers. Lost 17-71, which was quite a defeat but never mind. I only played one quarter and only scored once, but still enjoyed it.

Well that was short. Hopefully I’ll have something a tad more interesting to post next Monday

First off, congratulations to fellow blogger Mairead who finished the NYC Marathon yesterday! Well done!

So, on with the week…

Monday: Rather disappointed with last week’s run total I wanted to run but didn’t get round to it until I needed it in the evening. Did my normal 7.6k route but decided to add on The Hill to make it 9.56km. I also managed to maintain a reasonable pace (up until I got to The Hill anyway) and made it back in 58:02.

Tuesday: Did my regular 7.6km route but stopped at 7.54 and walked the last 60m. In case you were wondering, yes, I only did it to round up yesterday’s distance.

Wednesday: There was no basketball practice today as the venue is closed, so Ally and I played some 1 on 1 at the leisure centre.

Friday: Archery in the evening. Shot for about 2 hours instead of 3 as I didn’t want to overdo it before Saturday – I was still aiming for that oh-so-close-but-not-close-enough 440.

Saturday: I finally did it! Not quite sure what happened but I felt quite good at archery on Saturday morning and managed to score 560 for the Portsmouth round. Was rather pleased with myself so I’ve ordered a badge to celebrate No running in the afternoon as I stuck around at archery to help coach the new beginner’s course.

Sunday: Basketball was cancelled again, and horrible weather conditions stopped me running, so today was a bit of a write-off.

This week I entered the Great South Run for 2010. I wanted to run it this year but by the time I had decided to it had sold out, so I thought I’d get in early this time and make sure my place was booked. It’s 10 miles, so should be a bit different to the distances I’m used to running, though with any luck I’ll have found and finished a half marathon by then anyway so shouldn’t be too much hard work!

In an earlier post “Natural gas deliveries tumble” it was reported that U.S. natural gas inventories increased by only 18 billion cubic feet (”Bcf”) for the week ended October 16, 2009 bringing the amount of natural gas in storage to 3,734 Bcf.  There have been cooler-than-normal temperatures possibly contributed to the below-normal rate of injections during the report week and as stated by the EIA, “Robust levels of gas in storage also likely contributed to the below-normal injections, as some pipeline companies required their interruptible storage customers to draw down working gas levels as some storage facilities approach capacity.” The big question is how much did these interruptible storage customers draw down and what sort of capacity exists here? It will be interesting to see today’s report to see if it supports the last delivery report or if it makes it a one-off occurrence.

Regardless, this decrease in natural gas deliveries is a significant, and notable drop of 50 Bcf from the previous week deliveries (deliveries for the week of October 9, were 58 Bcf). We have been stating here the last couple months that late October, early November would be a key time for natural gas. Up to this point there has been a race to see if natural gas would reach physical storage limitations and have a negative impact on the price of natural gas.

We estimated that if natural gas deliveries were to average 65 Bcf or better per week, natural gas would reach its physical storage limitation near the end of October putting renewed downward pressure on natural gas. At the same time,  production cuts would not have full effect  on decreasing deliveries until existing hedge contracts expired through to the end of October.  The conclusion was that late October, early November was when we would start to see a significant reduction in net deliveries, and a subsequent draw down on natural gas inventories right when the winter heating season should be kicking in. With only 18 Bcf injected into inventories, and a lower-than-normal temperatures in the US, the storage capacity concerns have likely been avoided all together. Temperatures are going lower from this point forward which increases natural gas heating consumption which will draw down on inventories.

Natural gas prices have  appreciated nicely off the lows as the short squeeze helped move prices up and take attention away from the bears. Profit taking occurred and natural gas is trading pretty much sideways at $5.  Support is  indicated at $4.35. Breaking this support level indicates the short term top is set.  Some are again stating that shale gas has surprised both producers and analysts alike and exceeded expectations even after production rates come off and that natural gas has no business going to $5. They could very well be right. It really depends on what the producers have done in the field.

Though production cuts have occurred across the board, activity continued in the shale with many vertical wells being completed before work was halted. In other words, there are numerous vertical wells completed and waiting for horizontal drilling and fracturing. With revenues and profits down substantially natural gas producers are eager to get production back online but  producers jump back into completing these wells depends on the impact winter weather has on natural gas inventory levels.

Shale gas discoveries dramatically increased supplies right when a recessionary drop in demand occurred. The result was a fall in price and cuts in drilling and cuts in production. Managing this situation  is very challenging and not a coordinated effort between producers. Natural gas is seasonal and its supply and demand factors are impacted by hot summers, hurricanes and cold winters.  The whole thing resulted commodity that is very challenging to manage. Producers take an independent strategy of cutting production when prices drop. Prices drop when supplies go up because of cooler summers and warmer winters which lower demand. The opposite increases demand and prices along with hurricanes that rip through the Gulf of Mexico and impact gas production in the region.

High inventories of natural gas are par for the course as the winter heating season approaches. And these inventories are drawn down over the winter to be replenished during the spring in preparation of the summer A/C season – the cooling season. What’s a little bit different this time is we are entering the winter heating season with record high natural gas inventories. So winter weather will once again determine inventory levels and how producers will respond with bring production back on – or not. Temperatures were generally cooler than normal  in the US during the week ended October 15 with temperatures 4 degrees lower on average, according to the EIA. Its a good start, but not necessarily the forecast situation for the rest of winter.

In its winter outlook covering December through February, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (“NOAA”)  points out that the El Nino phenomenon will be the dominant factor influencing weather across the United States. But it is a mixed bag. According to the NOAA and as recently reported by Reuters;

NOAA forecasts temperatures to be warmer than average across much of the western and central United States and below average in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic from southern and eastern Texas northward to southern Pennsylvania and south through Florida. The forecast for the Northeast, the world’s largest heating oil market, called for equal chances of above-, near-, or below-normal temperatures and precipitation. Long-term forecasts for the region are difficult because weather there is generally not influenced by El Nino but by other factors.

In contrast to NOAA, AccuWeather.com on Wednesday forecast a weakening El Nino weather pattern that could lead to the stormiest and coldest U.S. winter in recent years.

Weather forecasters polled by Reuters tend to agree that the Northeast is in for a winter packed by more severe storms, and frequent blasts of arctic air.

A colder winter packed with severe storms may not be what New Yorkers want but it is welcome news for natural gas producers. What we will be looking for is to see if colder weather will be enough to draw down natural gas inventories to near historical averages, or will the weather be moderate and leave inventories at higher then average levels at the end of the winter heating season which would negate the need to increase production and place downwards pressures on natural gas prices. Factor into these unpredictable factors (weather) the emergence of natural gas as a cleaner alternative energy another unknown, and there is a lot of uncertainty still in natural gas prices. A cold winter could be the only way to tell.

La solución a la contaminación

A falta de árboles que eliminen el temible dióxido de carbono (CO2), el científico Eusebio Moro ha ideado un árbol artificial que, sin las necesidades que requiere el natural, absorbe las partículas contaminantes del ambiente.

El invento puede parecer una torre extravagante y exagerada, pero su utilidad ha despertado la atención de cientos de empresas que quieren comercializarlo.

Eusebio Moro, nacido en la provincia de Valladolid en el año 1949, es un inventor empedernido que ya ha firmado 22 patentes de sus creaciones y que con este árbol artificial ha llamado la atención incluso a los investigadores de la NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), cuya preocupación medioambiental más acuciante son los gases y humos que se producen en las misiones espaciales de larga duración.

La empresa de la que es propietario Moro, Movigi Spain Air Filter, ha sido la que ha construido el prototipo de esta torre de 45 pies (14 metros) de altura y 12 toneladas de peso, cuya capacidad de absorción de partículas contaminantes es la equivalente a 90 árboles eucaliptos, lo que equivale a 90 mil toneladas de CO2 por año.

“Mi empresa y yo nos dedicamos a la labor de depuración de gases en combustión y filtración para partículas sólidas y principalmente, para gases de combustión procedente de hornos de cocción. La expectativa que generaba en la gente su preocupación por los efectos de los gases de dióxido de carbono, CO2, causantes del efecto invernadero, fue lo que nos llevó a estudiar esta posibilidad. Tras presentarlo vi que podía tener una buena aceptación para su instalación en espacios urbanos como rotondas, plazas, estaciones de autobuses, etc, donde hay mayores concentraciones de contaminantes de este tipo”, manifiestó Moro.

Según especulan los expertos en geoingienería, un bosque con 100 mil árboles de este tipo sería suficiente para reducir buena parte de la contaminación de un país en un periodo de 10 ó 15 años.

Y además, elemento ornamental

A pesar de su tamaño y envergadura, el árbol artificial podrá modificar su estructura en función del lugar donde se ubique y su entorno, de esta manera no solo realizan el trabajo de los árboles naturales día y noche sino que además constituyen un elemento ornamental para incorporar en el mobiliario urbano. Dependiendo del estilo arquitectónico del lugar y el tipo de mobiliario público, estos árboles podrán tener carcasas diferentes que combinen con el entorno.

Para su presentación, ha sido el artista sevillano Melchor Zapata el que ha revestido esta estructura con una peculiar escultura con la que ha añadido personalidad y originalidad a este invento medioambiental.

¿En qué consiste el funcionamiento del árbol artificial?
Su funcionamiento consiste en que el aire atmosférico pasa desde la parte inferior de la torre a la parte superior, donde se encuentra un ventilador que genera una corriente a través de catalizadores. Estos catalizadores realizan una captación de los gases contaminantes tales como el CO2, fluor, benceno, arsénico y diferentes gases que normalmente son los que están diluidos en el ambiente y que son generados, bien por empresas o factorías, o bien por el tráfico rodado y demás.

Entre 90 y 100 eucalíptos

¿En qué proporción puede limpiar el medio ambiente?
Este es un equipo de cuatro mil metros cúbicos que alcanza la capacidad de absorción de entre 90 y 100 eucaliptos. En cualquier tipo de árbol la capacidad de absorción es muy lenta en el tiempo. En este prototipo hay un paso canalizado que lo que hace es pasar un caudal a gusto del consumidor, dependiendo del tipo de habitáculo en el que se vaya a instalar. Generalmente existen mapas de analíticas donde se realizan varemos de contaminación y en esos lugares es donde deberían instalarse estos sistemas.

¿Has tenido alguna propuesta institucional para su compra?
Hemos tenido consultas de ayuntamientos y de empresas interesadas. De momento, lo que sí tenemos sólidas son algunas propuestas de fabricantes de mobiliario urbano y estamos viendo las posibilidades de ceder la construcción de los equipos, de aquí a cuatro o cinco años, a los responsables de la implantación de mobiliario nuevo o en espacios donde el mobiliario ya está instalado.

¿Se han interesado en otros países por este prototipo?
Sí, hemos recibido propuestas de Chile y de otros países de Sudamérica, de la NASA en Estados Unidos, Miami, Portugal, Alemania. Son muchos los países que están interesados en conocer el producto y sus resultados.

¿Crees que este árbol artificial podría sustituir un día a los árboles naturales?
Nosotros no pretendemos sustituir con los árboles artificiales los naturales, pero lo que sí puedo decir es que en un árbol natural el óxido de nitrógeno, el azufre y las demás partículas en suspensión contaminantes que viajan en la corriente de aire afectan muchísimo a su vida. La lluvia ácida lo deteriora y lo mata, de hecho hay muchos bosques donde hay una gran concentración de dióxido de azufre que los destruye. Estas situaciones no afectan a los árboles artificiales y, al contrario que los naturales, en lugar de emitir polen, éstos lo capturan.

Los árboles naturales aportan oxígeno, pero por la noche cambian el ciclo y emiten dióxido de carbono. Además, las partículas contaminantes como las que provienen de la mala combustión de los coches, sobre todo los de gasoil, el fluor, el arsénico, algunos de ellos más peligrosos que el CO2 para la salud se adhieren a las hojas y luego, cuando llueve, se expanden en el ambiente, cayendo en los cultivos y permaneciendo inalterables.

Eusebio Moro explicó que “los efectos de la combustión de materia orgánica para la obtención de energía, tienen consecuencias muy graves sobre nuestro clima, su ecosistema y fundamentalmente, sobre la salud de las personas”.

“Desde hace años la comunidad científica está investigando procesos para combatir la mayor amenaza que se cierne sobre nuestro planeta: el cambio climático”, señaló Moro.

“La única solución posible, para detener el impacto del cambio climático sobre el planeta, sólo podría realizarse mediante un giro en las políticas energéticas de los gobiernos en favor del ahorro energético o la creación de energías alternativas y renovables con el objetivo de permitir un desarrollo sostenible en el mundo”, aseveró Moro.

En el diseño de este proyecto están colaborando el grupo de investigación de Química Inorgánica Medioambiental y Materiales Cerámicos de la Universitat Jaume I, de Castellón, dirigido por el catedrático Guillermo Monrós.

ingat pada kabel UTP untuk jaringan ETHERNET kabel yang digunakan untuk pengiriman dan penerimaan paket data hannya ada 4.. yaitu kabel urutan ke 1,2,3 dan 6. udah pada tau kan mana pin ke 1 dan ke 8 nya… jadi saya ga usah bahas lagi…. sedikit aja dech gampar… eh gambarnya modular connector 8p8c…

urutan mana yang akan kita pakai alangkah baiknya kita membaca apa yang dituliskan pada dus atau roller penggulung kabel ketika kita membeli kabel.. karena disana akan tertuliskan 10base T /100base T, T568A atau T568B,

tapi ingat kita sekarang hidup di dunia bisnis… tembaga adalah salah satu komoditas bisnis…. kita lihat kenapa ada 10baseT ama 100baseT pada UTP/STP cable… itu karena kualitas penghantar nya yang membedakan…cable 10baseT cuma bisa kecepatan maksimal 10Mbps… apa jadinya jika ternyata produsen kabel hanya membuat material yang baik pada warna2 standar yang dipakai yaitu HIJAU PUTIH, HIJAU,ORANGE PUTIH DAN ORANGE???? dan sisanya memiliki material yang bahkan dibawah 10BASE T, karena urusan bisnis hitung berapa keuntungan yang bisa didapat dengan memotong kualitas pada kabel warna biru dan coklat??? masuk akal kan???

panjang maksimal penggunaan UPT/STP adalah 100m…. mungkin kalau material nya jelek ga akan sampe dech 100m… kalau mau pasang 200m bisa-bisa pasang repeater nya harus 2 tuh… makhluk apakah itu repeater.. nanti akan kita bahas lagi di blog selanjutnya…

mungkin pertanyaan ini sering banget didenger sama rekan2….

sebenenarnya HUB dan switch itu satu rumpun yaitu Consentrator dimana sama2 menghubungkan beberapa komputer. bicara beberapa berarti lebih dari satu yach.. namun perbedaan nya terdapat pada kemampuan untuk menyimpan MAC address… lalu buat apa mac address disimpan pada consentrator? HUB itu adalah technology lama dimana bila satu komputer mengirim sinyal data maka seluruh komputer yang terhubung pada HUB  akan menerima sinyal tersebut.

kelemahan nya tentu setiap data yang dikirim oleh satu komputer dapat dibajak oleh komputer lain yang bukan hak nya untuk menerima, karena memang sinyal dikirim kepada seluruh komputer yang terhubung. kedua adalah masalah kecepatan.. biasanya HUB memiliki kecepatan 10Mbps. kebayang donk jika ada 10 komputer yang sedang kirim2an data berarti kecepatan terbagi 10 juga. kecepatan nya… karena hanya akan terdapat 1 streaming data pada satu proses… ini dikarenakan sinyal yang dikirim adalah sinyal digital… yang berarti akan terjadi antrian2 pengiriman data…

sekarang mari kita bahas switch..

SWITCH adalah technology terusan dari HUB dimana consentrator ini mampu memilah dan memilih kiriman paket data yang akan dikirim oleh komputer pengirim kepada komputer penerima sesuai dengan MAC address nya… itulah dia kegunaan dari penyimpanan MAC address pada switch. kapan MAC address disimpan pada switch?? pertanyaan yang baguss…. MAC address diregister pada switch ketika pertama kali terhubung, dan switch akan mencatat MAC address komputer itu… kita sebut saja ada5 komputer… a,b,c,d,dan e… komputer a mau kirim ke komputer B… maka komputer a mengirimkan paket data melalui switch dan oleh switch akan dilihat alamat nya… lalu kiriiiiiiimmm ke B… sehingga jalur paket data A dan B tidak akan mengganggu jalur data bila ada pengiriman dari C ke D…

Publishing my goals publicly on the internet is always a good way to follow through with them.  Another good way is to tell Joe what my goal is and not to let me stray from it.  It’s nice to have a boyfriend with a spine.  He isn’t lazy and he works out about 5 days a week so since one of my goals is to run 5 days a week, he is gung-ho about running WITH me.  That is such a nice refreshing feeling, I can’t even explain it.  I like having a partner in crime so to speak.  Fitness crime?  We’ll be so hot it should be illegal?  Right.

So with that obscene amount of fitness in mind, here are a couple of my goals that pertain to running 5 days a week.

• Create a playlist for my iPod – Talking while running isn’t something I do.  Not because I don’t like to, but because I have Runner\’s Asthmawhich is just what I call it.  It’s actually called Exercise-Induced Asthma (EIA) which is basically like having asthma that bothers you most when you are exacerbated by exercise.  I would normally just assume I’m out of shape but I have been this way since I realized I had asthma when I was about 12 years old and I was in great, healthy shape from then until I was about 24.  Don’t ask about what happened after that.  I call THAT boyfriend-induced fatness.  I have since recovered.
• Buy new running shoes – I had a pair of running shoes that I ran in on and off for 2 years.  When I moved a year ago, I threw them away because I knew their time was up.  They also never quite fit right so I wasn’t sad to see them go.  I now have Nike’s that aren’t for running.  I have abnormally high arches so as far as arch supports in shoes go, I almost never find anything that comes w/ in 1/2″ of touching my arch at it’s highest point.  I have found correctly-fitting arch supports in a pair of Nike’s ONCE.  I was 16 and goth, they were all-black, we were in love.  Since then I haven’t found a shoe that touched my arch the way those did, but I have hope.  I will try on every shoe at Big 5 until the shoe fits, so be ready, Mr. Shoe-Bringer.
• Find a sports bra alternative – Ok, this is an ever-growing issue in my world.  And by ever-growing I mean that when I get smaller, my boobs stay large, and they even seem to be growing still.  WHY?  At the risk of divulging WAY too much information, I wear a 38DDD (aka F) in some bras, a 38G in the bras I wear most often.  With that said, I’m sure you can understand my plight.  The likelihood of finding a reasonably-priced sports bra with correct underwire support and full coverage because let’s face it, I don’t need bounce while I run.
• HYDRATE!  This one speaks for itself.  I live in the desert, I should do this anyway, but I’ll admit that I don’t.  I try though, and now I am going to try harder so I don’t pass out trying to run 5 days a week without an inhaler.  I’m determined to beat the asthma.  I might be setting my hopes high in that aspect but if I can’t beat it I’ll try some OTC solutions like Bronkaid or Primatene Mist Inhaler. Not having health insurance means I can’t refill my prescription inhaler for cheap like I used to.
• Control Asthma – See all above. I should have made that it’s own bullet but I didn’t.

If any of you run daily, do you have any tips?  I don’t plan to carbo load or take any supplements.  My low blood sugar means that carbs make me sleepy, and when I’m sleepy, I sleep, not run.  Bad.  I have found that if I have a nice high-protein lunch, then fun before dinner, I do the best.  I can’t be full of food or too hungry when I run or I just get distracted and don’t want to run… aka I have no motivation if tasty meals are involved.  In short, I am REALLY glad that Joe isn’t like me or we’d be sitting around having dinner and watching TV or something instead.  I just need to run through the fact that I hate running lately, and run until I love it again.  I used to love running more than any other exercise (minus the asthma, which is something I just got used to through running daily).

Well… wish me luck!  I hope maybe I inspire someone to run too.

After Ally had massaged my hamstring on Sunday it was really sore and painful to the touch, though didn’t really hurt to stretch and so by Tuesday afternoon I assumed I’d be OK to run on it. Unfortunately the weather decided otherwise, with rain, wind and a temperature that refused to break 10 degrees.

Wednesday: Basketball in the evening started slow but built up to a pretty fast-paced 2 on 3 game (or maybe it was just fast-paced for me as I was one of the 2!)

Friday: Quite disappointed that this was the first time I’ve managed a run this week, but the thermometer read 13 degrees and the sun was trying to break through the clouds so I thought I might try a 14k run. Unfortunately it didn’t really go as planned. While it wasn’t especially cold I was having trouble breathing and despite slowing down, I couldn’t seem to get enough air into my lungs. In the end I decided that trying the full 14k would be a miserable experience. Luckily, 5k into the 14k route takes me to within a km of home so I did a detour and ended it at 5.8km (38:35). Went to archery in the evening and had a few practice shots before Saturday’s Portsmouth. The new pressure button didn’t behave so took the old one on Saturday.

Saturday: After a rather long meeting at archery I finally got to shoot my Portsmouth and scored a rather disappointing 532. I wasn’t really feeling it today so I’ll just be glad I broke 530 and try again next week.

Sunday: Basketball was pretty quiet today, just Ally and Jamie (the coach) for the first half an hour. We did some dribbling, some shooting, and then when Paul arrived we played some full court 2-on-2. Was a really good game and it’s made me feel a bit more positive about the upcoming one against Bury Bombers.

Total Run: 5.8km

Not a great week for running – I really wanted to do that 14km run at some point but it never happened. Hopefully there’ll be any opportunity for it next week some time.

During the first seven months of 2009, hydropower consumption in the United States was up 5.1 percent compared with the same period in 2008, according to a report by the Energy Information Administration, the statistical arm of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Americans consumed more than 169 million MWh of hydropower through July, up from 161 million MWh last year, according to Electric Power Monthly.

In the largest hydropower-producing states – Washington and Oregon – consumption was down slightly. Washington consumed 49.5 million MWh of hydropower during the first seven months of 2009, down from 51.8 million MWh in 2008. Oregon consumed 22 million MWh, down from 22.2 million MWh last year.

In California, however, hydropower consumption jumped 42.1 percent compared with last year. Alabama recorded the biggest increase, 60.9 percent.
