The French Interoperability Framework RGI 1.0 is out and officially enacted.

Here is the readers digest quote from an interoperability specialist’s rant about the French paper:

- the document is of poor quality. By this I mean that you do not expect this kind of document stemming from a french central administration: a few spellchecking errors, low level of technical discourse matched with european jargon.
…
- an attention to details that is simply ridiculous: it describes the SMTP and TCP/IP protocols in details and then set as a Rule that they should be used. (Thanks to the document we can now feel safe and righteous when we use TCP/IP to surf the Internet).
…
- Lots of factual errors and inaccuracies: times new roman is not a font that can be used free of any right.
- comparing apples and bananas: The only difference between REST architectures and SOAs is not that the SOAs are not REST (although we understand they’re trying to describe two kinds of “web services” it is wildly inaccurate and creates a senseless chatter).

… and so forth. The simple question to ask is, like it or not, what does the Sarkozy government want to achieve with its French interoperability framework RGI? What is the practical purpose of their RGI? I have no answer for this question prepared. It only makes much sense to me to enact it while Malmö quarrels over the European Interoperability Framework 2.0 and the degrees of openness needed for interoperability. If administration hasn’t made up its mind about its national interests in the matter it is no surprise that the contents of the document becomes coton.

“This nifty bit of propaganda encourages you to troll on blogs and leave comments, call in to talk radio shows and generally be annoying when people discuss ObamaCare by injecting Administration talking points found on AARP’s web page under the Orwellian header ”Myths vs. Facts,” reports Stage Right.

Indeed, Rupert Murdoch’s Twentieth Century Fox corporation has admitted to planting political brainwashing within its globally popular TV shows and indeed boasts that it is proud of the fact. A corporate video shows Fox executives and stars of its universally recognized shows bragging about how they use the platform of hit shows that are broadcast worldwide to implant messages about the supposed threat of global warming. If all this wasn’t disturbing enough, one of the “I Paticipate” initiative’s main protagonists is none other than Ashton Kutcher, who along with Demi Moore produced one of the creepiest You Tube videos ever made, in which celebrities pledge their servitude to Barack Obama and encourage everyone to do the same as they repeat mantras with cult-like zeal.

Who remember’s this one?

The fact that corporate TV outlets are openly writing scripts and editing content to incorporate government propaganda, added to the fact that they act like this is some kind of wonderful service to the American people, is a damning indictment of just how deep the alphabet soup networks are in the pocket of the establishment.

We’ll leave it to the reader to decide for themselves. Who’s the most trustworthy? The muckraking blogger or the legions of corporate media whores who brazenly hand over their editorial control to the government and then celebrate the fact as if it’s a major achievement?

On September 10th of this year the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) posted a press release informing the world that “from October 19-25, more than 60 network TV shows [will] spotlight the power and personal benefits of service,” and that this “unprecedented block of TV programming is the first wave of a multi-year ‘I Participate’ campaign.”

On its face this all sounds rather benign in that silly, liberal do-gooder kind of way. The networks have launched these kinds of campaigns before and other than some clunky exposition awkwardly inserted into your favorite show to meet the mandate — no harm, no foul.But this year there are a couple new strangers in town: “Volunteerism” and “Service.” You’ve heard of them. Their names have been bandied everywhere since President Obama took office, and this internal memo from the EIF to network showrunners obtained by Big Hollywood shows that the entertainment industry is well acquainted and eager to introduce both to as vast an audience as possible:Like the NEA story, once again we see the same buzzwords pop up; suggested topics pitched to an overwhelmingly left-of-center group: Education, health, environment, the economy and lastly — almost as an afterthought as some kind of “bi-partisan” cover – support for military families.

We’ll have to wait until next week to see what effect this initiative will have on the 60 television (and news) programs in question, but thanks to the intrepid Patrick Courrielche and Stage Right, today we can answer the simple question of…

“What’s wrong with this?”

Doing the work the Kamikaze Media (many of whom are participating in this event rather than digging for the story) refuses, and with the help of Big Government’s Dana Loesch, Patrick and Stage Right have discovered that when it comes to this White House – whether it’s the NEA conference calls or EIF’s iParticipate programming — all roads funnel into one place: online volunteer portals, including Serve.gov, where if you plug in “health care” all kinds of Planned Parenthood openings pop up along with a video dispelling those ugly “myths” knocking ObamaCare.

There’s scarier stuff, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. *cough*Trutherism*cough*

We’ll start with Stage Right. Next week, tens, if not hundreds of millions of Americans, will be urged through the (ab)use of public airwaves to log on to the EIF iParticipate site and volunteer. Stage Right will give you a preview of what the unsuspecting and well-intentioned, including your children, will find.

If you’re thinking it’s all about “Meals on Wheels,” think again.

From there, Patrick Courrielche will describe how this EIF initiative fits into a broader White House plan, including the push to politicize the NEA, to redefine “art” as “service” and engage an all too compliant news, entertainment, and artistic community to start a volunteer army through these online portals.

If your 12 year-old hears about this volunteer initiative and follows the lead of her favorite TV star, she will go to www.createthegood.com and type in her favorite cause.  If she’s been paying attention to the news these days (or listening to the lectures from most public school teachers) she will know that “Health Care” is a big deal these days.  All she has to do is type “Health Care” into the search engine with her zip code (let’s say 90210 cause we love those adorable Beverly Hills high school kids) and she’ll get a whole host of opportunities to serve.

Go ahead… open that link and you’ll see twelve opportunities to serve.  Look at items “H”, “I” and “L.”  All are from Planned Parenthood:

Government media complex anyone?

This is not the first time a witch has been tortured and burned onstage in the Victorian chocolate box surroundings of the Lyceum Theatre – Stewart Conn’s The Burning harrowed Edinburgh audiences in the early Seventies.

Nearly forty years on, Rona Munro and Dominic Hill return to the subject, turning our gaze away from the glow of the Scottish Enlightenment which has been much celebrated during this summer’s Edinburgh International Festival into the darkness. A darkness which feels very topical and relevant, even though set in 18th century Sutherland in the small parish of Loth, between Brora and Helmsdale.

After all, we live in a world in which only last year a child’s headless torso found floating in the Thames turned out to be evidence of witchcraft. The central theme of the play – the power struggles between men and women, town and country, old ways and new ways – highlights a fundamental aspect of the human condition. And of course tales of love, lust, courage and cowardice, have everlasting, universal appeal.

At the heart of the play and the centre of the stage for most of it stands Janet Horne, a strong, combative, wilful woman accused by a neighbour of witchcraft, and the play stands or falls by her. Kathryn Howden turns in a strong, believable performance as Janet; in her offhand, uncaring treatment of her partially disabled daughter Helen (Hannah Donaldson) and casual bullying of her farming neighbours Douglas (George Anton) and Elspeth (Vicky Liddelle) she recalls some of the less likeable characters peopling the tide of reality television.

Her nemesis is Captain David Ross (Andy Clark), the young outsider whose arrival in the small, closeknit parish disturbs the balance. Nick (Ryan Fletcher), a dark Ariel with increasingly ambivalent, diabolic overtones, dances in and out of the action, gradually displacing Niall (Neil McKinven) as Helen’s suitor and eventual saviour.

The lust and spilt blood so sadly missing from the previous week’s Caledonia Sessions are here a-plenty and yet, by portraying Janet’s complexity so truthfully, Munro severs that visceral connection which is needed for the horror of her death to truly shock. The empathetic thread leads instead to poor Helen, whose uncertain future as the curtain falls prevents full closure – it’s refreshing to see a play which ignores Hollywood’s script strictures.

Lightning flashes, greedy flames and the ominous flapping of crows’ wings (courtesy of Chris Davey’s lighting and Andrzej Goulding’s video design) provide the evening’s ‘wow’ moments, but even shorn of them, the strength and quality of the writing and the equally strong, quality performances under Dominic Hill’s practised hand would be watchable enough.

Concerto Caledonia’s first Caledonia Session proved a disappointment. Subtitled ‘Triplepipes, Lust and Spilt Blood’, was light on all three, and even the addition of folk doyen Martin Carthy did not compensate.

The triplepipe is an ancient instrument seen on Pictish carvings and Greek vases, but now found only in Sardinia; a chanter and two drones, unlinked and bagless, it is a musical ‘missing link’ in the family of European pipes.

Alas, though the concert opened with piper Barnaby Brown accompanying on triplepipe the lovely Patsy Seddon in a Latin psalm to create an audio time-tunnel, it was the only time we heard this fascinating instrument. Musicianship was exemplary throughout the evening but the programming was over-endowed with what director David McGuinness aptly called “miserable but beautiful” ballads.

Why were there not one but two – beautifully delivered – versions of the lament for the death of the 2nd Earl of Moray, sometimes called ‘Lord Randall’? Enough, already. Bill Taylor’s Bray harp did not produce the frissons one expects from this usually sassy, buzzy wire-strung clarsach, and Seddon was kept on a tight leash.

Only in Carthy’s dramatic ‘Sir Patrick Spens’ and Brown’s rendering of Donald Mor MacCrimmon’s pibroch on a set of authentic 18th century bagpipes was there a hint of the drama and excitement there could, and should, have been. Where, as the Black Eyed Peas nearly said, was the lust?

Helteisestä säästä huolimatta vitaajien liike pysyi hyvänä loppuun saakka.

Tämä oli hyvä turnaus ennen sarjan alkua. Ottelut pelattiin 6v6, mikä hieman “sotki” pakkaa.

Mustat hävisi ensimmäisen ottelun BK:lle 6-2, EIF kaatui 2-1. BK on pelaava ja taitava joukkue, jolle laitamme vielä luun puuroon tänä syksynä:)

NBC mocumentary “Parks & Recreation” featured national non-profit KaBOOM! in an episode originally aired on October 22 as part of the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s (EIF) week-long “iParticpate” national volunteer event that spotlights groups who emphasize volunteerism by writing them into network scripted shows.

Volunteers help to KaBOOM! a park as part of the "1,000 parks in a 1,000 days" program.

KaBOOM! was founded in 1995 by Darrell Hammond, and since its founding has worked with communities to construct over 1700 of their “built-in-a-day” parks across the nation. KaBOOM! continues to motivate communities and individuals to support the cause of play, and thanks to being highlighted on the show, will most likely see an increase in the amount of people who want to take charge and aid them in their mission to “create great playspaces through the participation and leadership of communities.”

KaBOOM! fit seamlessly into the main storyline of “Parks & Recreation” which has Saturday Night Live alumni Amy Poehler’s character, Parks and Recreation department employee Leslie Knope, on a quest to turn a hazardous abandoned pit into a community park.

In the episode, Knope and her friends journey to the neighboring town of Eagleton to participate in a KaBOOM! play build. Knope is so energized and motivated by what she sees a community can accomplish in a day that she decides to incorporate the KaBOOM! mantra into her own life.

Overall, the episode was hilarious and I didn’t even realize that KaBOOM! was a real-life organization until the PSA aired at the conclusion of the show.

I think that EIF’s “iParticipate” campaign is great event that highlights the good service that volunteers are doing across the nation to help better communities. The only drawback I see with this event is that it is not long enough! I personally would love to see “iParticipate” be lengthened into a month-long campaign that also includes cable networks.
