Early in our trip and of necessity in an area not well provided with decent eating places, we discovered Perkins at 821, Spring Street. Friendly staff serve good food. On our third visit tonight my chicken, corn and mash was somewhat reviving when I felt below par. At lunchtime we had been in Texas Arizona, in neither eponymous state but in Hoboken, NJ at 76 River Street. Service was effortlessly engaging and portions predictably large. This is invariably the case in America which is great if you are hungry in America but not so good if you are hungry in Africa. Large portions lead to overeating and inevitable obesity but also to food waste which is a sin. When, in the future, all possible self-help options have been established and corrupt governments cast aside, we cannot live in a world where some people waste more food in a day than some others eat in a week. It is not right; it cannot continue. Our guacamole was fresh and probably as good as any in Mexico. My salad of grilled chicken and strawberries included my body weight in candied pecans which is one thing which led to my outburst above. The food though was good. Greg thoroughly enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich and potatoes which appeared to be a fries/wedges hybrid.
