<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Diesen Werbespot für den Iron Aid Trockner von Electrolux habe ich vor mehr als einem Jahr auf irgendeiner Website gesehen &#8211; ich glaube es war focus.de. Ich war wirklich begeistert sowohl von dem Film, dem Plot aber auch von dem Produkt.</p>
<p>Ich gehöre nämlich zu den vom ständigen Bügeln genervten bzw. denen die immer ein schlechtes Gewissen haben wenn andere für sie bügeln. Und ich stehe total auf smarte technische Lösungen für Alltagsprobleme. Und ich mag New York.</p>
<p>All das hat der Spot ziemlich genial in 30sec zu einer absolut coolen Produktwerbestory zusammengepackt &#8211; seht selbst:</p>

<p>Zwei Dinge finde ich darüberhinaus bemerkenswert:</p>
<p>1. ich werde ziemlich sicher dieses Produkt kaufen irgendwann &#8211; oder ein anderes von Electrolux. Im Geiste haben die mich damit als Kunden gewonnen, zumindest fast. Vorher war diese Firma in meinem Kopf nicht existent.</p>
<p>2. es ist unglaublich welche Wirkung dieses banale Video-Ad ausgelöst hat. Direkt nachdem es lief habe ich noch lange versucht es irgendwo nochmal zu finden. Aufrgrund von dämlichen Ad-Server-Einstellungen auf der Seite (Frequency-Capping) war das aber nicht möglich. Dann hatte ich den Spot ohne jegliche zusätzlich Stützung (z.B. durch eine andere Kampagne von Electrolux) mehr als 1 Jahr im Kopf rumschwirren. Dann habe ich mich bestimmt 30 Minuten auf Recherche begeben um ihn zu finden &#8211; was mir nicht über die Youtube oder Google-Suche gelang (da kam ich nur auf fremdsprachige Versionen) sondern über Bing!</p>
<p>Man muss sich mal überlegen was Electrolux da in meinem Konsumtenhirn ausgelöst hat &#8211; was wären die wohl bereit für solch eine Werbewirkung zu zahlen?</p>

After reading all the reviews I was a little apprehensive. This vacuum seemed to have problems with dying soon after buying. I decided to chance it anyway.<br />
It seems as though problems had occurred when it was left plugged in after use, so I have always unplugged it.<br />
This is the most amazing vacuum. I have always thought I had a very clean home, always take shoes off in house etc. The first time I used it I had to empty the canister three times on just one small carpet. It practically pulls itself along, and I have finally been able to vacuum under my bed.<br />

<p>Esta mañana se han manifestado por las calles de Alcalá acompañados por los trabajadores de Roca, que también se van a ver afectados por un ERE en la empresa. La manifestación arrancó a las 11:30 en la Vía Complutense y terminó en la Plaza de Cervantes hacia las 13:30 tras la lectura de un manifiesto.</p>

Each offers different features for potential buyers at different prices. What follows is a review of the Electrolux range of upright vacuum cleaner which will hopefully help you decide what is best for you. </p>
<p> Electrolux are technical innovators. Proof is in the release of the Trilobite vacuum cleaner, vacuum first commercially available that sucks your home, without having to do for youjust turn it on. While there had been other earlier versions, but these were mere &#34;bump and run &#39;models when they encounter an object in a random direction. If run on a sufficient period of time, would eventually vacuuming whole. </p>
<p> The Trilobite is very different. There is a computer that stores only the layout of the room, but it really works the most effective way to do so. The sensor also prevents alwaystouch anything in the room, so that even the most delicate of objects is safe. </p>
<p> However, the Trilobite is incredibly expensive, has its limitations and the vast majority of people will buy a lightweight <b>container,</b> or vertical Electrolux vacuum cleaner. </p>

It comes with 7 height adjustments carpet, a 12-amp motor and HEPA filter. The instruments on board are of superior quality with the tube with a range of 15 feet. It has a sleek design and attractive is a vacuum. If there is one criticism is that the height adjustment of carpet is not automatic &#8211; simplicity vacuum Synergy has this feature. </p>
<p> Electrolux Oxygen 3 vacuum (EL5035)the main focus of design has been sealed HEPA filter &#8211; is one of the best on the market. It also comes with an electronic height adjustment lets you change the height of the head so you can clean all types of flooring. There is a 12-amp motor and the cleaning width is 15 inches. This model compares favorably with the simplicity synergy vacuum, it is actually cheaper and better quality. </p>
<p> Finally, we have the Electrolux Intensity vacuum (EL5020). Its design is an interesting idea, because it wasdesigned to be a retractable vertical. It seems rather strange at first, with his &#34;band&#34; to manage and lower part that looks like an <b>empty container.</b> Although the main body is small, is still home to a 12 amp motor and its width is 15 &#34;cleaning path and the air is only 3&#34; from the top of the bag, so you do not pack a punch. Like the other models is equipped with a HEPA filter. </p>
<p> If the Electrolux Intensity is magnificent, you have a serious incident. The first is the size of the dust bag &#8211; 1Quart. It is small, the bag&#39;s ability is greater than 4 liters. Many reviews online vacuum cleaner also agree on thispoint. </p>
<p> Electrolux upright vacuum cleaners are among the best on the market. Of the three, I think the Electrolux Oxygen 3 is the model that provides more vacuum for the money. A few rivals can match its cleaning power, quiet and filter. </p>

<p>La modalidad más abierta de captura de ideas para las empresas son sin duda los <strong>concursos</strong>. Aunque  puedan existir ligeras diferencias de planteamiento entre ellos, como se puede ver en los siguientes ejemplos, el formato de los mismos así como sus reglas son bastante similares.</p>

<p>En una línea similar se sitúa el <a href="http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/">DORITOS</a> TV Contest. En este caso lo que se trata es de la elaboración de spots para la marca:</p>

<li><a href="http://gente5.telecinco.es/blogs/elnautilus/2009/02/09/spots-creados-por-los-telespectadores-la-experiencia-doritos/">El 4 de febrero</a>, durante la Super Bowl, se emitieron dos spots de Doritos que figuraron entre los anuncios mejor valorados por la audiencia. Ambos anuncios habían sido elaborados por los propios espectadores en un concurso organizado a través una web de la marca.</li>
<li>El procedimiento para seleccionar el anuncio ganador surgió de la colaboración entre Yahoo Video y la compañía de snacks, a través de un sitio web denominado Crash the Super Bowl, donde los usuarios podían enviar sus propuestas.</li>
<li>1,060 vídeo-anuncios publicados, cuatro finalistas que han recibido 25,000 dólares, y la posibilidad para los ganadores de llevarse 1M$: <em>“If you win the grand prize, you are going to see your commercial during the Super Bowl! </em><em>And if you take the #1 spot (including ties) according to the USA TODAY Ad Meter, you’ll get US$1,000,000.”</em></li>

<p>Como podéis ver, los premios en estos cinco casos no son para echar cohetes. La clave de la participación está sin embargo en el diferencial que puede suponer para cualquier diseñador industrial tener un galardón de un concurso de calidad reconocida, como estos, en su CV.</p>
<p>En el siguiente post se comentarán más casos de concursos, aunque con variantes respecto a los presentados, tanto desde el punto de vista de la temática como del propio formato.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Electrolux has finally rolled out their new french door counter depth refrigerators without the ice and water on the outside of the door.<br />
What Electrolux did with this fridge was create a clean, stainless look on the outside, and then they moved the control panel to the side of the door(which is pretty unique, as most appliance refrigerator companies will host the control panel in the upper portion of the refrigerator). The models sport all of the features found in the original line of Electroluc french door fridges that were released earlier this year:<br />
- luxury-designed glass shelves<br />
- air and water filters<br />
- ice maker<br />
- LED lighting<br />
- Star-K certification<br />
- Perfect Temp drawer in some models</p>
<p>The biggest advantage of the new Electrolux refrigerators is that without the ice and water in the door, Electrolux was able to move the ice machine out of the main refrigerator area. This in effect has freed up a tremendous amount of space in the fresh food compartment.<br />
The refrigerators have literally just rolled out the door here at Curto&#8217;s so it&#8217;s early in the game to report on how they are performing in the homes, but customer&#8217;s have been very happy with the styling and other appointments. As the refrigerators gain more time in people&#8217;s homes, we&#8217;ll follow up with a performance report. </p>

<p>Any way common faults with electrolux cooking appliances<br />
1, fan Element the oven will blow cold air. remedy replace element £11-£35 (we charge £78 inclusive of 12 months gurantee)<br />
2, oven will trip out after 10-20mins then automatically come back on 30mins after that. this is a simple very common fault and took me 30mins to find first time. it&#8217;s called a thermal limitor. remedy: find a little bullet style plastic cased blue thing with 4 wires coming out of it 2 long white and 2 shortish blue it will be in the centre of the machine at the top of the oven. You just need to remove the cover that protects all the switches( you have to take the machine out of it&#8217;s enclosure to be able to access the top of the machine).Part typically costs about £35. Appliance repairman will change and give 12 months warrenty for £78 inclusive parts and labour.</p>
<p>Warning Always disconnect an electrical appliance from mains electric before trying to diagnose or repair and always wear suitable protective clothing. If you are unsure always better to call a trained professional for repairs.</p>

Helistasime Snaige edasimüüjale – nemad toodavad vaid A energiaklassi. Kas A ja A+ vahe on suur? Ma ei leia internetist seletust. Lehekülgede kaupa tuleb juttu hoonete energiatähiste kohta, aga mitte kodumasinate. Oskab keegi soovitada kust otsida.<br />
Leidsin veel sügavkülmadest Candy A+ , Whirlpool B klass, Schlosser A. Zanussi ei sobi mõõtude poolest.<br />
Ma olen näinud Beko kirste müügis, kuid otsingumootor ei leia neid üles. UPOt samuti mitte. Electroluxist veel kallimad kaubamärgid nagu Bosch, Miele, Smeg olen jätnud mängust välja.</p>

Kõik need uued ja uhked majad, kus on imelised laia ekraaniga telerid ja helisüsteemid, mis kukutavad kuulajad istuli? Kas neis majades sügavkülmikuid polegi? Väga lai on valik kappidele, kus pool on jahekapp ja väiksem osa on sügavkülm. Sellist me ei otsi.<br />
Minu esimene tingimus on, et masin peab olema A-energiaklassist, mahtuma keldriuksest sisse ning mahutavus peab olema 210-liitri ringis. Eelistaksin kirstu, kuid kui mõõtmed ei sobi, siis valin kapi.<br />
Kõige korralikum valik on siiski E-Luxis (Electrolux, Zanussi, AEG). Üks Electroluxi kirst mahuks ehk isegi nibin-nabin uksest läbi.<br />
Et mitmed kommentaatorid on laitnud kaubamärgi-jahti, siis püüdsin otsida alternatiive.<br />
Solidaarsusest leedukatega alustasin Snaigest. Neil on Eestis esindus, kuid interneti kaudu ei suutnud leida sügavkülmikuid. Need peavad olemas olema (mul on ju keldris 25 aastat vana Snaige sügavkülma kapp). Neil on üldse imelik internetileht – masinad on toodud välja disaini järgi, mitte selle järgi, mis tööd nad peavad tegema. Expert elektroonikal on jälle masina kõrguse järgi lahterdatud. Kah huvitav moodus.<br />
Mõningase otsimise peale leidsin lisaks E-Luxile veel külgi, kuid masinatele alternatiive mitte. Hinnad on ka üllatavalt kõrged.<br />
Omega lehekülg on E-Luxile alternatiiv. Sealt leidsin sügavkülma kapi Schlosser.<br />
Muuseas, paljud huvitavad alternatiivkaubamärgid on kas B-energiaklassist või on A-klassi masinad erakordsed kobakad. Siiski olen leidnud ühe võimaliku Candy kirstu (maiuse-masin võiks olla tõlge inglise keelest). Kas te usaldaksite sellist kaubamärki (Candy CCFE205)? Vahe eelistusega number kaks ehk Electroluxiga on 800 krooni. Arvestades kvaliteedi ootusi pole see küll kosmiline hinnavahe. Ma olen valmis nime ja kvaliteedi ootuse eest rohkem maksma.<br />
Ohhooo! Veel enne magama minekut leidsin mingist suvalisest interneti poest (tuhat1) Snaige sügavkülmikuid. Olen liiga unine, et neid läbi töötada, kuid mõõtmed ja energiaklass sobivad. Hind on ootamatult kõrge võrreldes selle Electroluxi 210 liitrise kirstuga, mis meil võib-olla isegi mahub uksest sisse (võib-olla aga mitte).</p>

Taimeri abil. Meenutan, et nädala pusisime taimeri töölesaamisega – et ta mõistaks argipäevade ja nädalavahetuse erinevust. Saime tööle. Ta ei talunud üheks päevaks mitut juhist. Käsin lõpetada töö reedel kell seitse hommikul ja alustada samal õhtul uue programmiga kell 23.59. Värske tööga tuleb alustada järgmisel päeval ehk laupäeval kell 00.01, sellest saab masin aru. Peaasi, et vahetub ööpäev, olgu või kaks minutit ülesande vahe.</p>
<p>Taimeri mõte on selles, et laome päeval masina kraami täis. Pärast viimast hilpu lülitame masina justkui käima, aga vurama hakkab ta südaööl.</p>
<p>Me ei saa pidada süsteemi  toimivaks, sest oleme teinud palju erandeid. Liiga tihti on olnud arusaamist, et viiest pereliikmest kellegi tähtis hilp vajab kiiret menetlust.</p>
<p>Samas leian, et taimer võib vabalt lebotada pesumasinal ja sobival päeval kasutame seda. Mingi kokkuhoiu ikka saab ja hull ebamugavus see ka pole.</p>
<p>On selgunud, et meie AEG-pesukuivatit ja Whirlpooli nõudepesumasinat taimeriga kasutada ei saa. Mõlema on-off nupud ei sobi selleks trikiks.  ise ka ei anna mingeid viitefuntksioone – olen valinud võimalikult väheste ülesannetega masinad. Ilmselt siit blogist on selgunud põhjus: liigne keerulisus pole meile sobiv.</p>
<p><strong>Valgustus. </strong>Otsime õue sobivaid valgustusi. Tõin koju mingi hämaraanduri, mis tuleb monteerida lambi külge ning siis saab kasutada igasugu pirne (hõõgniidiga, säästupirne või halogeene). Oomipoes öeldi mulle, et seda on imelihtne paigaldada. Ma mõistan neid – minust oli vaja kiiresti lahti saada, sest enne kui naine hakkab elektrit mõistma, tõuseb päike solgipangest. Tõsi ta on. Wend venitab monteerimisega kummi, sest ta ei usu, et mõistujutt faasidest on tema kaalukategooria ülesanne. Näis.</p>
<p>Kööki ostsime hämaraanduriga säästupirni. Seni olen ma rahul. Kuigi ta mõnikord on natuke hüsteeriline – lülitab iga viie minuti tagant end välja ja sisse justkui ei suudaks otsustada, kas on valge või pime. Ja hommikuti ka. Lülitan pirni sisse. Ta mõtleb 30 sekundit ja lülitab end sisse. Mõne aja pärast ta lülitab end uuesti välja – justkui tal oleks ka mingi liikumisandur. Kui liigud köögis, siis lülitab end uuesti sisse. Teinekord hämaras, kuid kasutamata köögis on teinekord sama trikk. See mind ju ei häiri, sest ma pole ise ruumis. Kuid ma ei saa aru, miks ta nii teeb. Hämaratundlik pirn on Osrami mingi variant (karbi ma viskasin minema). 200 krooni maksis.</p>
<p><strong>Ost. </strong>Plaanime vahetada välja 25-aastase Minski.<strong> </strong>Ma ei julge otsust teha. Kõige parem oleks külmakirst. Mingi A+ kategooria. On selgunud, et külmakirst meil keldriuksest ega aknast sisse ei mahu. Jääb siis uksega külmkamber. Aga tõesti, mida ma veel pean teadma? Kas Electrolux on normaalne? Või võib olla mingi tundmatum firma?</p>
<p>Mõtlen, et kuigi kirst on säästlikum, siis see ei mahu meile keldrisse, kus me seni oleme külmkappi hoidnud. Ma ei saa ju panna kirstu tuppa säästlikkuse eesmärgil? Seda enam, et jahedamas ruumis on külmuril vaja vähem tööd teha.<strong></strong></p>

Debbie Schaeffer, president of Mrs. G TV &#38; Appliances located on Route 1 in Lawrencelle, NJ, along with Hilary Morris, president of H. Morris Solutions, LLC as her assistant, kicked off the Mrs. G&#8217;s VIB (very important blogger) Series, which was sponsored by Mrs. G&#8217;s and Electrolux . This gathering enabled the invited bloggers to network, tour the showroom, and watch presentations and demos of selected Electroux products.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">I met both @DebbieSchaeffer and @MrsMoNJ (Hilary Morris) on Twitter a while back. They are both local business owners, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet them in person, as well as the other bloggers from the tri-state area.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">I haven&#8217;t been in the store for two years, and had forgotten they had the interior renovated, so when I walked in, my breath was taken away by the changes. The typical 2,000 sq. ft. appliance row showroom had been transformed into a gorgeous, updated space of several kitchen vignettes on the entrance side. Seeing things in a home-like setting certainly helps you envision how a piece would look in your own home, as opposed to looking at them lined up like soldiers. This is certainly not the setting my grandmother had to shop for an oven.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">The mix of colors, textures and 21st century design, was most impressive! Beautiful wood cabinetry mixed with stainless steel, granite and tumbled marble is just an example of what was displayed. She has re-invented the family business, founded by her grandmother, &#8220;Mrs G&#8221; along with her grandfather almost 75 years ago. There is a section in the back called &#8220;The Living Kitchen&#8221;, which is like a store within the store due to the space allotted for it, and it is filled with Wolf and Sub-Zero products in a sleek, modern environment intended for the design-oriented luxury market no doubt. I was salivating as I walked through it to the conference room. This is a place where serious home cooks just want to roll up their sleeves, and get creative. All of my friends who have come over for a five-course meal, ask me if all the kitchen gadgets I have make a difference in the outcome of the meal. I usually tell them while winking, it&#8217;s the talent of the cook that matters most.  In reality, appliances do greatly effect the outcome, e.g. the taste of freezer burn can be avoided, dairy and produce stay fresher, and cook times can be shortened. Not that my kitchen is shabby, but honey, have you seen my photos?</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">After a chance to meet and greet all attending, and a nice welcome, we walked over to the video room, and I was dazzled by the variety of flat panel TVs. Debbie informed us how home entertainment is changing with TVs &#38; Blu-Ray DVD players having the capability to display web content. Right up my alley: Pandora Radio, Netflix, YouTube and more, all on the BIG screen. This technology is becoming more mainstream, not just for geeks like me connecting a laptop to my HDTV! Then there was a brief showing of a television show in which Mrs. G&#8217;s was one of the businesses highlighted, explaining the history of the establishment owned by three generations. After viewing it, of course, I was lured to the new 82&#8243; Mitsubishi 3-D DLP that was on display showing the family film Coraline in 3-D. I hope no one noticed me drooling. I put on the special battery operated 3-D glasses, and it was just as good as watching it in the theater!  I&#8217;ve been wanting to buy an LED back-lit screen, but this was bigger than my 65&#8243; Mitsubishi rear projection model, and I DO have space for it! Besides, the price was just a bit higher than what I paid for my HDTV eight years ago! Hmmm?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Two representitives were present from Electrolux. First, Joe Visicaro, explained the features and advantages of their washers and dryers, including the benefits of steam, how they have the largest capacity, and quickest wash and dry times in their class, and how you can program their washing machines to clean a specific type of stain.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Then we walked over to Leigh Donadieu for a demonstartion of a convection oven and induction cooktop. She is also a chef, and served us a delicious lunch cooked on the premises using the working appliances. I love kitchen gadgets, and in recent years, large appliances have stepped up to the level of home computers. They are very intelligent. Ovens can do everything except knead your dough to bake the perfect baguette, and refrigerators can flash freeze your food to avoid freezer burn.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">After lunch, I spoke with Debbie, who explained how she had her employees re-trained to be the most informative staff with the utmost customer service. They have a great mix of products for all budgets, including products that work well with a &#8220;green&#8221; lifestyle, the most competitive prices by being a part of a buying organization, which brings the combined purchasing power of thousands of retailers, AND they price match any competitor&#8217;s advertisement! This is a winning business plan! Actually, it&#8217;s a win-win situation for both retailer and consumer! If you live in New Jersey or Eastern Pennsylvania, I highly recommend contacting Mrs. G&#8217;s before making any appliance or television purchase. A trip to this fabulous showroom is well worth it!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Thanks to Debbie, Hilary, Joe and Leigh for a wonderful morning! I look forward to the upcoming events planned for within the next 12 months!</p>

Jag försökte svälja samtidigt som fler och fler telefoner flög mot mitt ansikte som mördarbin.</p>
<p>- Köp mig för helvete! Jag har femhundra megapixlar, skrek en Nokia.</p>
<p>- Skit i honom, skrek en LG. Ta mig i stället. Jag kan sysselsätta din fru när du är ute med hunden.</p>
<p>- Jag varmkör din bil mellan november och mars, ropade Samsung och flög rakt in i mina läppar.</p>
<p>Det talades om pekskärmar, megapixlar, Spotify-i-din-telefon, 99:-/månaden, gratis SMS och mail rakt in i telefonen.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-926" title="candy_2_large" src="http://loonies.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/candy_2_large.jpg?w=300" alt="candy_2_large" width="300" height="166" />Därefter kom kylskåpen från Electrolux via Elgiganten som hade inbyggd ismaskin och TV. Bäddsoffor lika stora som en lägenhet levererades gratis från MIO och så naturligtvis alla de nyanser man kunde sätta i håret så att man äntligen kunde se ut som Pernilla Wahlgren. Tandborstar som skulle komma åt överallt där inte ens Listerin hade en chans och tandkrämer som till och med fick den tandlösa uteliggaren att skina upp i ett dollargrin.<br />

<p>I&#8217;m a Mrs. G.&#8217;s VIB (Very Important Blogger&#8230; but of course)! Today I attended the first of many of the Mrs. G.&#8217;s VIB Blogger Series at the Mrs. G.&#8217;s store on Route 1 in Lawrenceville, NJ.</p>
<p>My mom has shopped at Mrs. G.&#8217;s for a number of years and this was the first time I was able to experience their incredible showroom. The event was an opportunity to meet fellow bloggers and network with them, as well as take a tour of the Mrs. G.&#8217;s facility and watch some demos.</p>
<p>Their sales people are so knowledgeable about all of their products and extremely helpful. I fell in love with the front loading Electrolux washer and dryer (I want it in red), as well as a few tv&#8217;s.</p>

<p>We participated in a demo featuring an Electrolux kitchen and ate tomato bisque soup, salmon, brussel sprouts with pancetta, apple cider and fondue! How cool is that? I even placed my hands on the stove and didn&#8217;t get burnt. Since there isn&#8217;t a flame and its all magnetic, it&#8217;s the perfect option for families with small children.</p>

<p>Ok, so about that tv&#8230; they have some amazing sets to choose from. Did you know there are 3D capable tv&#8217;s? If you have a 3D capable tv you can plug it into a media server that can show 3D content and Voila! (The server comes with the 3D glasses, not the tv.) I was able to test it out watching &#8220;Coraline&#8221; the movie. Incredible!</p>
<p>Mrs. G.&#8217;s #1 Priority as they proudly display on large signs throughout the store is&#8230; drum roll please&#8230; CUSTOMER SERVICE. How many places can say that? In a day and age where customer service is seriously lacking (especially with the larger corporations, ahem Verizon), Mrs. G.&#8217;s knows whats important. As a third generation family owned company, Debbie Schaeffer is doing a phenomenal job following in her family&#8217;s footsteps, staying true to the company and their mission and providing the best products at the BEST prices.</p>

<title><![CDATA[We've come a short way, and don't call me "baby." ]]></title>

<p>Maybe it&#8217;s Kelly Ripa&#8217;s perky little grin that says, &#8220;Hey!  Even though I clearly work out about 6 hours a day and you all know that I have a wildly successful career, I&#8217;m <em>really</em> happiest when I&#8217;m doing loads of laundry, baking cookies, and waiting hand and foot on my TV-watching kids!&#8221;  Personally, I tend not to do my laundry in skinny jeans and platform heels, but I&#8217;m funny that way.</p>
<p>Maybe I&#8217;m annoyed because commercials never, <em>ever</em> show a man doing housework.  Actually, let me make a correction: sometimes a man <em>is</em> shown trying to help with dishes, laundry, and/or parenting.  He is almost invariably portrayed as a bumbling fool who has to be schooled by his wife or, even more emasculating, his children.  (I have to believe that the portrayal of men as inept, undomesticated oafs bugs men, too.  I mean, really: &#8220;Everydad&#8221; can run a hedge fund but can&#8217;t wash a dish?  Please.)  </p>
<p>Maybe the twee little theme song from &#8220;Bewitched&#8221; is what rubs me the wrong way: &#8220;Hey, remember when laundry used to suck?  Well, now it&#8217;s <em>magical</em>!&#8221;  (Cue horns!)  </p>
<p>No, I think the part of this commercial that really chaps my ass is the tagline: &#8220;Be even <em>more</em> amazing!&#8221;  Which is, of course, code for: a woman is only as amazing as her ability to cram as many domestic tasks as possible into any given day, while maintaining a size-4 figure, impeccable hair and makeup, and, we assume, a professional career, all of which are full-time jobs unto themselves.  </p>
<p><img src="http://hilarygardner.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/workinggirl2.jpeg" alt="WorkingGirl" title="WorkingGirl" width="266" height="147" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-690" />As retro as Kelly Ripa&#8217;s Electrolux commercial is, the ad plays right into the feelings of frenzied inadequacy that haunt many a latter-day feminist.  If being &#8220;amazing&#8221; means becoming Working Girl-meets-June Cleaver-on-methamphetamines, then I&#8217;d like to opt out, please.  On days when I juggle too many professional and domestic obligations, I don&#8217;t feel &#8220;amazing.&#8221;  I feel tired, cranky, and in need of a cocktail.  And I don&#8217;t even have kids!<img src="http://hilarygardner.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/barbarabillingsley.jpg?w=238" alt="JuneCleaver" title="JuneCleaver" width="238" height="300" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-691" /></p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be great to see a commercial that showed a father teaching the kids how to do laundry because Mommy&#8217;s had a long day?  Or what about an ad featuring a family cooking dinner <em>together</em>, instead of a serenely benevolent housewife playing waitress for her own family?  Well, don&#8217;t hold your breath, ladies.</p>
<p>A March, 2008 report by the Council on Contemporary Families revealed that men these days are doing, on average, just 30% of household chores.  And <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/06/17/housework.relationships/">this article at CNN.com</a> points out that, even in homes in which the man helps with housekeeping, a great deal of &#8220;emotional labor&#8221; (remembering birthdays, making appointments, etc.) is still left solely to the woman.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s a memo from me, on behalf of women everywhere, to the nice folks peddling large home appliances, dish detergents, and weight loss pills: <em>you</em> need to be &#8220;even more amazing.&#8221;  Women are amazing enough already.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Kelly Ripa is stalking me]]></title>

<p>I will hopefully write more product reviews on this blog.  I consider myself a professional athlete of shopping.  I buy quality and I buy at the best prices.  But recently, in my purchasing searches, Kelly Ripa keeps on popping up.</p>
<p>The first is about the <a href="http://www.physique57.com/">Physique 57</a>.  Eventually, the audience of this blog will get to know that I&#8217;ve become slowly addicted to exercise (though my current situation wouldn&#8217;t indicate that).  I&#8217;m a die hard fan of <a href="http://www.cathe.com">Cathe Friedrich</a> (I feel like I personally owe her for the 45+lb loss over the last two years) &#8212; and even when I try to stray from her, I find myself annoyed with inferior video instructors and just happier I dump my dough in her.  She&#8217;s fantastic for cardio and she&#8217;s fantastic for weights.  But I&#8217;ve been wanting to incorporate more &#8220;toning&#8221; like workouts.  I&#8217;ve never been good at pilates frankly, hence my inclination to do <a href="http://cathe.com/fitness-programs/sts-series">STS</a> for three months instead.  But I want to be better.  But I need something more than a pilates class.  I need something that&#8217;s CHALLENGING.  That&#8217;s why I love Cathe and I hate running.  I get bored.  So something not boring but tough and compelling.  Physique 57 is exploding all over the web forums, sounds perfect for me, and then I find out the cause of the explosion: Kelly Ripa does it and she endorses it.  Holy crap, when did she get that buff?<!--more--> Those are some of the sexiest arms I&#8217;ve ever seen.  I WANT!  But I hold back&#8230;mostly because I heard the DVDs had crappy chaptering and I&#8217;m waiting to see if they&#8217;ll release a better encoding (and you see, I bought a house this year and I can&#8217;t just buy whatever I want anymore).  Ok, Kelly Ripa.  I saw you.</p>
<p>The second would be  my <a href="http://www.electroluxusa.com">Electrolux</a> purchase (which I really hope I&#8217;ll review later).  I needed a new handheld vacuum to clean up the dog hair on the couch and I needed something to supplement my Roomba  to sweep my hardwood floors that my dog likes to shed over.  Hence, I was looking at the 2-in-1 <a href="http://smallappliances.electroluxusa.com/node35.asp?ProdID=41707">ErgoRapdio</a> from Electrolux.  I got it on sale at Costco and have been relatively pleased with my purchase but when I went to the Electrolux website, I just happened to click on appliances site &#8212; WHOA!  When did she become the Electrolux spokesperson?  (Some time ago it seems.)  Damn, that must be giving her a lot of money.  But well, I&#8217;m just obsessed with vacuums.  Though, those are some WICKED appliances.  Ok, Kelly Ripa.  I saw you.  I am adhering to your marketing spell.</p>
<p>Then the last straw &#8212; I FINALLY bought myself shoes.  I haven&#8217;t been treating myself well at all since I got the house.  My mother bought me STS but I haven&#8217;t gotten myself anything in a loooong time.  So, there was a sale on Sears and they sell <a href="www.ryka.com">Rykas</a>.  I have a pair of Rykas for my aerobic workouts.  I really wanted to try their <a href="http://www.ryka.com/footwear.asp?product_id=135">cross trainers</a> and even buy a new pair of <a href="http://www.ryka.com/footwear.asp?product_id=116">studio shoes</a>.  Seriously, I got two pairs for $100 so it was looking easy peasy.  And then&#8230;I go to the Ryka website.  This woman is loaded &#8212; she&#8217;s the Ryka spokesperson too?  And she&#8217;s designing the shoes now?  (Is that why they&#8217;re so much cuter now?)  Like, ALL of the shoes?  Ok, Kelly Ripa.  I saw you.  I bought.</p>
<p>So, I think its perfectly legitimate that Kelly Ripa is stalking the Hottiescientist to buy her products &#8212; because if you got me, well, you got the world!  In all seriousness though, I&#8217;m impressed with her landing being the de facto spokesperson for so many fantastic products.  It&#8217;ll do great for her image and I&#8217;m sure the companies that pay her are pretty happy too.  Maybe I should watch Live to see what else she says&#8230;</p>
