Delorean is like a breath of fresh air. If you’re looking for something to dance to, clean to, sing to, you should probably check out their EP Ayrton Senna (all tracks listed below). There is little information out there about Delorean(not to be confused with the hard-rock band), but the group is a fantastic pop foursome hailing from Spain.  This is a sunny representation of music, with rock roots and heavy piano layers, creating an extremely uplifting sound. I am a firm believer that music is a direct influence on your mood, and can, in extreme cases, change your life. That being said, I’m not about to say that this EP will change your life, but it will change your state of mind. It will make you stand up and smile, and if it doesn’t make you move just a little bit.. well, I think something is wrong with you.

Today I’m dedicating the Electropop Dance Party to The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. Get ready for some sugary, psychedelic, jazz-laden electropop. Oh, and they’re Danish. And they’ve been referred to as a “collective of like-minded people.” They’d fit in like a charm in Austin.

TAGT first made waves in 2008 when their single, “Around The Bend” was used in a commercial for the iPod Touch. Since then, a few of their other tracks have been used in other commercials and episodes of “Gossip Girl.” This fall, “Around the Bend” could also be heard in the Vogue documentary, The September Issue.  This band just looks cool.The lead singer, Mette Lindberg reminds me of Nico:

So. This six-piece band (with Lindberg and producer Lars Iversen at the helm) just released a full length album entitled Fruit. This might be the most fitting album title for a band I’ve heard in a long time. One look at the video for their first release off of Fruit, “The Golden Age,” and you’ll see what I mean. It’s all bright colors, happy days and sunshine. It’s fruity and sweet. I’ll admit, at first listen it was kind of tough for me to get into it, but as I listened to the track over and over it really grew on me. Now I can’t get the rhythm out of my head. And I love the album cover:

The album kicks off with “Lady Jesus,” a really funky tune with an infectious beat. Lindberg’s voice is stellar and I love how the acoustic guitar riffs manage to fit in really well. “The Sun Ain’t Shining No More,” has a 60’s pop feeling to it and the following track, “Push the Envelope” brings an epic sound that’s clearly influenced by the more bombastic side of 70’s funk and rock. I love how that song is so dense and there are so many different layers. “Satellite” brings things down a little bit. Instead of being heavy on synthesizers, guitars and horns, the song grooves and slithers along while Lindberg’s voice commands a towering presence. I love when she sings, “Think I need somebody. Are you somebody?”

“Crazy” is a unique track on the album. Compared to the other tracks, this song is noticeably more subdued and brings more of the psychedelic, trippy side of the band to the forefront. Lindberg’s voice is once again the centerpiece. “Around The Bend” is included on the album. “Sunshine Coolin’” is my second favorite track. I love how it sounds so modern and fresh, but it still has a ‘60’s throwback feel. You can’t help but shake your hips to this one. “Hero” takes a ballad-ish turn. It’s slower and more subdued, but again, with the strength of Lindberg’s voice and the sheer talent of the musicians, it’s not boring in any way. The album closes with “Inner City Blues,” which in my opinion is the best track on this record. I love how it’s kind of bluesy, but stays true to the band’s psychedelic brand of pop. And there’s this futuristic quality to it. Clearly, TAGT evokes all kinds of influences and images.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour are interesting and different. They’re the perfect antidote to a long day at the office or the perfect band to include on a party soundtrack. Or for jamming out in your car while you’re stuck in rush hour traffic on Lamar. You can’t help but be in a good mood after you’ve listened to this record.

Dante Eeprom, que ha hecho de todo y a la vez muy poco, con tropecientos remixes a gente como Royksöpp, Simian o Little Boots, aparece ahora haciendo bastante, con este track precuela de la placa de larga duración Yes Is More. Una canción pop ambientada en ritmos electrónicos suaves pero desafiantes, que tienen toques de tango y de soul, de house y de techno, orientados al bailecito y al canturreo casual. El 24 de Noviembre se pone a la venta el nuevo disco de Kepa Junkera, titulado “Kalea”.

“Kalea” (calle en euskera), es la segunda parte de la trilogía sobre las canciones tradicionales vascas que se inició el año pasado con “Etxea”, un disco que llegó al número 10 en listas de ventas y que ha vendido mas de 25.000 copias hasta la fecha.

Kepa ha viajado en esta ocasión al continente americano para encontrarse y grabar con multitud de artistas que han interpretado en euskera algunas de las mas bellas canciones vascas. Desde Juanes a Lila Downs pasando por Pablo Milanés, Ximena Sariñana, León Gieco, Lito Vitale, Carlinhos Antunes o Patricia Sosa, artistas de Chile, Colombia, Argentina o Brasil participan en este proyecto que traspasa las barreras de un idioma ancestral.

The fall es el cuarto álbum de estudio de Norah Jones, que se aleja un poco del ‘folk’ para apostar en un sonido con guitarras eléctricas y baterías más marcadas.

 El álbum, que tiene como primer sencillo el tema Chasing pirates, llega con una versión ‘deluxe’ y ’standart’, en los formatos CD y vinilo. Jones contó con colaboradores como Jacquire King, productor e inginiero de sonido de artistas como Kings of Leon, Tom Waits o Modest Mouse.

I was turned onto Dato by Disco Demons yesterday. This Danish two-piece make make modern SynthPop with a decidedly old school flavour (particularly with their basslines!) that will be right up the alley of many of our readers.

Birds & Batteries are from San Francisco. All the leading authorities agree that no one can agree what their style is. They are like a kaleidoscope of twangy clangy folk, rushing American rock, something kind of psychedelic, a bouncy chunk of funk, the tendency to sound a little bit spooky, and a healthy jolting current of electropop lighting the whole gig up like christmas.

I’m not going to say any more, because I want you to listen. This song is on my workout playlist and releases breathtaking adrenaline cascades whenever it comes on. I kick into hyperdrive and run all the way to next Tuesday. But you can stay right here in Saturday where the party is. Everybody wins.

This is off their new EP, “Up to No Good”.

U.S.E. has been around since about 2004, an electro group formed after posing to be a group in a Seatle night club and loving the enthusiasm the crowd had, they formed the band United States of Electronica. The group has a few EPs out and 2 albums, one having been released this August. I’ve heard about U.S.E. a few times but their track “River of Love” really caught my attention. This song has the ability to completely change my day around. There is a complete charm to it despite its a quite obvious tacky/cheesy nature. River of Love seems to almost have an anthem quality to it, a song that could define a moment in your life. Reminds me of a less house version of Daft Punk with a sprinkle of bubblegum pop and 1970’s rock. Part of me wishes I had discovered it back in June, drinks and dancing to this song would be nothing short of amazing. Check out the disco-pop and prepare to dance.

It’s no secret that “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga is shaping up to be the biggest, most hugest pop hit of 2009. Here’s my picks for the best remixes out so far.

This is probably my favorite mix. It features a male vocal making the song a sort of weird electo-dance duet. Plus there’s a rap interlude. And the vocal effects are super fun. <3 it!

This mix has a more chilled out electro feel and definitely takes the song in a whole new direction. I love it when DJs take a song and really do their best to re-create it; taking the term remix literally. <3 it!

This mix is pretty upbeat and super electro/bubblegum poppy. I can totally see this playing at a rave and everyone going crazy with glowsticks and polar bear rugs and crazy high heeled glitter bedazzled shoes. <3 it!

In a move that I found completely shocking and may well be one of the top 10 controversies of 2009, Kid Sister has finally released her debut album.  Like no joke! I have a copy in my hands! It was one of two on sale at FYE. Which either means that she has a LOT of fans who bought her CD orrrrrrr that FYE only got 2 copies in their shipment. Regardless, it was one of their featured new releases and hopefully it’ll go somewhere cause Kid Sister rocks and the CD is pretty fantastic.
