In the previous steps in our jouney, we’ve been focusing mostly on intuitive methods of reading a Tarot Card. While, those are wonderful ways of not only enhancing our understanding and appreciation of the Tarot, as well as, expanding our own intuitive abilities; it’s also important for us to understand the basic structure of a Tarot Card. By ’structure’, I mean the card’s Number, Mode, Suit, and Element.

Reading a card on an ‘intuitive’ level does bring an extra depth to a reading, however, sometimes even the most intuitive of readers tend to blank out in the middle of a reading because they are just unable to ‘get’ a card. It’s normal – we’re human beings. We have our moments. Also, not all readings require us to go ever so deep into a card. A quick, no frills, blunt interpretation of the card at times is more appreciated than a long detailed descriptive one that we’ve ‘channeled’. It’s kinda like those days when you just crave a Big Mac and fries, and know that Fois Gras or Coq au Vin can’t satisfy you.

In her book, 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card, Mary K Greer has dedicated two separate chapters on exploring the structure of a card. One entirely focusing on the card’s Number, while the second focusing on the card’s Mode, Suit, and Element. I however, have decided to include them within a single posting, mainly because at this point, I’m only focusing on the ‘Way of the Apprentice’ exercises, as well as, I feel that each aspect is essential to the card’s structural make-up, and thus enable us to enhance our understanding of the card when applied together, than separately.

So without further delay, let’s delve into the structural aspect of our given card – The 6 of Swords

6 of Swords - Legacy of the Divine Tarot

Number

The number of our given card is ‘6′. Six is the number of equilibrium, as well as, balance, harmony, health, and time. Pythagoras considered the number 6 as the form of forms, the perfection of all the parts, and associated it with immortality. In Christian symbolism, 6 is also considered as the number of perfection, as God created the world in 6 days. According to the Kabbalah, 6 represents beauty and creation (Tiphareth). According to the Chaldean system of Numerology, 6 is associated with the planet Venus, and thus represents a feminine/yin energy that is pleasant, harmonious, settled, and peaceful, and emphasizes on love, beauty, relationships, diplomacy, and resolution.

Applying it to the card:- Seeking calmer waters. Releasing Tension. Moving away from chaos and anxiety and entering a more peaceful state where balance and harmony are restored.

Mode

In Tarot, Modes are the four unit divisions of the deck; i.e. Majors/Trumps, Court Cards, Aces, and Minor Pips (Numbered cards from 2 – 10). The 6 of Swords is a Minor Pip card, which represents the ‘What?’. They describe the situation and events that are occuring within our lives, as well as, what exactly we are dealing with and what action we can take to deal with it.

Applying it to the card:- Journey. Travel. Transition. Change. Progress.

Suit

The given card belongs to the Suit of Swords. Swords represent the qualities necessary to survive, especially boldness, dexterity, efficiency, alertness, and courage. They also allow us to observe scenes from our life without emotion and somewhat detached, critical, and allow us to discriminate fairly. Swords are also indicative of struggles or conflict, and point to a need for making decisions to shape our lives. They cut through all the drama and BS surrounding us, offering us clarity.

Applying it to the card:- Detaching ourselves emotionally as we release the past and enter our future. In order to sail through a time of struggle and difficulty, we need to detach ourselves from all the BS and focus on the things that matter. Critical and objective reflection is required in order to gain an understanding of our situation and achieve clarity.

Element

The given card belongs to the element of Air. Air represents our mind, intellect, logic, reason, rationality, and our ability to communicate. In a psychological context, Air corresponds to nimble analysis, flexible discrimination, and therefore to ideas, ideals, and knowledge acquired through study and education.

Applying it to the card:- Transferring ideas, data, and thoughts. Channel of Communication. Education helps us move from the ‘dark’ and into the ‘light’ by opening our minds and expanding our horizons.

As you can see, just by examining the various aspects of the overall structure of the card, we discover quick and to-the-point interpretations of the given card. This way, whenever we go through an ‘intuitive dry-spell’, we can still tap into the wisdom within the card and gain the answers we seek. In a way, it almost gives us a ’scientific’ way of analyzing and interpreting the Tarot.

Stay tuned for Step 7: Synthesis, where we shall combine the various structural aspects of the card and expand on our abilities of interpretation.

Zeul cărămizii se numea Kulla, fusese zămislit dintr-un pumn de lut, luat din Apson, fluviul primordial şi era însărcinat cu restaurarea templelor.
Făcând abstracţie de folosirea sa practică şi istorică, sau mai degrabă chiar din pricina acestei folosiri, cărămida simbolizează aici trecerea omenirii la viaţa sedentară şi apariţia urbanizării : casă, cetate, templu. Pentru a realiza o astfel de revoluţie socială era absolut necesară o intervenţie divină, un nou act creator. Cărămida este simbolul omului fixat în casa sa, pe pământul său, cu familia sa organizându-se în sate şi oraşe, cu lăcaşuri de cult. Ea îi aduce securitatea locuinţei, a culturii, a societăţii, a protecţiei divine ; dar şi îngrădirea întrucât cărămida înseamnă regulă, măsură, uniformitate formând  societatea închisă, opusă societăţii deschise a nomazilor.
Cărămizile de lut uscat au fost folosite  timp de milenii în ţările calde, cu precipitaţii reduse, dar ideea arderii cărămizilor de lut pentru a le face rezistente la apa a apărut abia în mileniul III i.Hr. Cărămizile au fost folosite pe tot cuprinsul vastului Imperiu Roman, dar tehnica s-a pierdut ulterior în Europa de Nord până spre sfârşitul Evului Mediu. Deşi nu era un material ieftin, cărămida a fost la modă în arhitectura gotică târzie din Ţările de jos, de-a lungul coastei Mării Baltice şi, de asemenea, în unele zone din Marea Britanie. Îmbunătăţirea metodelor de realizare a însemnat scăderea preţului cărămizii, care a devenit principalul material de construcţie al caselor din Anglia, în secolele XVII-XIX.
Cărămizile romane pot fi recunoscute cu uşurinţă deoarece sunt mai lungi şi mai înguste decât cele moderne. Deşi clădirile italiene erau adesea realizate în întregime din cărămizi, în zona de nord a imperiului erau frecvent amestecate cu pietrele locale pentru a crea benzi decorative, ca în cazul arcelor teatrului Lillebone, Franţa.
Cărămida a fost adesea folosită în zonele cu puţin lemn pe coasta Mării Nordului şi a Mării Baltice, pentru clădiri complexe precum Armurăria din Gdansk, Polonia ( 1602 -1605 ). Piatra cioplită oferea posibilitatea integrării unor detalii sculptate care nu puteau fi realizate în cărămidă, creându-se un contrast plăcut între piatra deschisă la culoare şi cărămida mai întunecată.
Alternarea cărămizilor prin dispunere succesivă a feţei scurte  a cele lungi către exterior  numele de apareiaj. Spre exemplu apareiajul  flamand  are cărămizile aşezate alternativ în lung şi  în lat  pe fiecarerând , cel englez alternează rândurile aşezate în lung cu cele aşezate pe lăţime, iar cel american are un rand  de cărămizi dispuse în lat, urmat de câteva rânduri aşezate în lung.
Meşterii de la sfârşitul Evului Mediu au realizat  cărămizi cu forme complexe, care puteau fi alăturate, creând modele şi forme complicate precum cele ale hornurilor castelului Thornbury, Glouchester ( 1514 ). Cărămizile de diferite forme erau folosite în această perioadă şi la realizarea arcelor, uşilor şi ferestrelor.
Culoarea cărămizilor depinde în mare parte de tipul de lut folosit, dar ea este influenţată şi de temperatura de ardere. Procesul industrial a eliminat în mare parte variaţiile de culoare neintenţionate, dar clădirile medievale şi moderne timpurii foloseau aceste variaţii pentru a creea efecte decorative policrome.
Odată cu progresul tehnlogic noi soluţii sunt disponibile pentru realizarea construcţiilor, dar cărămida rămâne unul dintre materialele cele mai folosite în construcţii atât din motive economice cât şi estetice.

…..and we shall be called Element.  We have finally came up with a name for our young adult ministry here at Christian Life Center.  I am excited to see how God is going to use this group!  BIG THINGS ARE ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

We continued our discussion on things that can hold us back from seeking after God the way that we should.  This week we looked at Paul and how he did not let shipwrecks and snakebites hold him back from chasing after God.   We used this as an example of how God uses things in our life that seem to be bad…and uses it for His purpose.  The result of Paul’s bad day was an island wide revival.   That is pretty awesome!  I wonder how many God opportunities we miss because when our shipwrecks happen we are all “woe is me”.  We often fail to see the good that God intends.

We also took a look at failure.  We discussed how our fear of failure holds us back from pursuing the calling on our lives.  We looked at Abraham Lincoln and how he failed miserably at almost everything, yet he kept his since of destiny and kept pressing on.  I think we all know the result of his story.  He has gone down in history as one of the greatest Presidents in the United States.

One other thing…..there will be a Young Adult Christmas Party on December 21st,  7 o’clock at the Edge!!!  More to come about that later on!!!

Welcome to Lucy Harmer’s Shamanic Astrology monthly forecast for the Northern Hemisphere! Each month Lucy shares inspiration and ideas for the coming weeks from her book Shamanic Astrology: Understanding Your Spirit Animal Sign.

Shamanic Astrology is based on the study of the movement of the sun and the moon during the different seasons of the year. There are twelve astrological ‘”signs” which are represented by twelve different spirit animals. To find out your own personal spirit animal sign (the sign you were born under), please check the table of spirit animals at the end of this article. Shamanic Astrology teaches us that inner power derives from knowing the properties, characteristics, and qualities of each spirit animal (known as their “medicine”), and applying this in our own lives.

Each month I will focus on the spirit animal for that month, and describe the “energy” of the month itself and also the influence of the moon. I will also indicate which other spirit animal signs will find this month to be particularly beneficial, and why.

November 22-December 21: OWL

Month of Hibernation and Long Nights

Spirit Animal Sign of the Month:
Owl is the spirit animal which corresponds to November 22 – December 21 (in the northern hemisphere). If you were born at this time, your spirit animal sign is Owl and you share Owl’s strengths of being fair, honest, wise, philosophical, idealistic, optimistic, and independent. You are someone who enjoys the good life! You may also share some of Owl’s weaknesses and can have a tendency to be restless, negligent, intolerant, proud, irresponsible, tactless, superficial and excessively optimistic.

Medicine: Owl’s medicine is the ability to seek out truth and justice in all
circumstances. This can be used in any ambiguous or unclear situation, to find the path to follow and to restore order.

Energy of the season:
Owl’s month, which ends with the winter solstice, is that of hibernation and long nights. The sun is at its lowest in the sky and the nights are at their longest. This is a period for introspection, spiritual seeking, visions, plans and preparation for the future. Everything undertaken during this month will need a greater dose of enthusiasm, spontaneity, and optimism than at other times and will have to be on a sound ethical basis. Projects conceived now are often highly ambitious.

Energy of the moon:
Owl’s new moon started on Nov 16th and the full moon is on December 2nd 2009. The period from November 22nd until December 2nd is the ideal time for conceiving or launching projects. These will have a high rate of success, as long as they have a sound ethical foundation. After the full moon, from December 3rd until 15th December, time is best used for introspection and deep spiritual growth. This is a time for learning from the past and for setting new goals for the future. December 16th brings the new moon in Snow Goose; this is a time for putting new structures in place for the year to come, with much determination.

This month is particularly favorable for the following signs:

Owl:
If your sign is Owl the energy of this month is very favorable because it corresponds to the month and the moon of your birth. A new cycle is about to start in your life and this is the best time to start planting seeds. Use the sun’s energy to take stock and head off in a new direction.

Falcon/Salmon:
If your sign is Falcon or Salmon, this is a very lucky month for you, with lots of harmony because you are in your own fire element. A multitude of opportunities will open up for you in this period and this is the best time to give destiny a helping hand!

Raven/Otter:
For Raven and Otter people, this is a very dynamic month, full of energy which favors the conception and birth of new projects. You will feel new motivation and a renewal of your energy at this time.

Concentrating on his graphic and live painting Dumper hit the Music circuit hard performing and promoting at numerous events from Raves to Concerts in the mid to late 90’s.

In 2002 Dumper teamed up with Keith Nichols, Emerg McVay, Hyder, Catalyst and friends to start his new venture, The Blunt Club. For the past years the Blunt Club has been Arizona’s Hip Hop church, hosting nearly every local live painter, poet, mc, dj, fashion designer, and beyond, supporting the artistic community in a multidimensional format.  The Blunt Club has since been named one of the top “101 hot spots in the U.S” by Spin magazine, as well as AZ’s “Best Hip Hop Night 2003-2006″ by Phoenix New Times and 944 magazine.

In 2003 Dumper founded with Baron Gordon, the Alpha Monster Art Collective, consisting of over 20 members globally. The collective’s goals are to advance each artist, business wise and ethically, give back to the community.Currently Dumper and the Alpha Monster’s perform all over the USA traveling and doing gallery events, to hip hop shows & Festivals , every final Friday at Club 909, First Friday’s downtown at the UM Gallery , and every Thursday at the Blunt Club In Tempe AZ .
