Tiësto (Dutch pronunciation: [tiɛsto]; born Tijs Michiel Verwest [tɛɪs mixiɫ vərʋɛst] on January 17, 1969) is a Dutch DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. Although he has used many aliases in the past, he is best known for his work as DJ Tiësto. On his latest productions, however, he has dropped the “DJ” label and is now known simply as “Tiësto”,an alias which is an Italian twist of his childhood nickname.

In 1997 he founded the label Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink, where he released the Magik and In Search of Sunrise CD series. In 1999 and 2000 he collaborated with Ferry Corsten to create Gouryella. In 2001 he released his first solo album In My Memory which gave him several major hits that launched his career as well as his remix of Delerium’s “Silence” featuring Sarah McLachlan which exposed him to more mainstream audiences. As his popularity rose in the early 2000s he became the first DJ to perform to a large crowd without any other DJs or opening acts. He was crowned the “World’s No.1 DJ” 3 consecutive times by DJ Magazine from 2002 through 2004.

Just after releasing his second studio album Just Be in 2004, at the Summer Olympics he performed live at the opening ceremony in Athens, Greece becoming the first DJ to play live on stage at an Olympics Games. Tracks he made especially for the Olympics were mixed together and released as the mix compilation Parade of the Athletes later that year. He was appointed Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2004 by Queen Beatrix. He was chosen as the official ambassador for the Dance4Life foundation in May 2006, and released the song “Dance4Life” with Maxi Jazz to help spread the awareness of HIV/AIDS. In April 2007 Tiësto launched both his radio show Tiësto’s Club Life on Radio 538 in the Netherlands and released his third studio album titled Elements of Life. The album reached number one on the Dutch album chart as well on “Billboard Top Electronic Albums” in the U.S. and received a nomination for a Grammy Award in 2008.Tiësto is set to release his fourth studio album called Kaleidoscope in October 2009.

Il set a mio parere risulta essere molto piacevole poichè condensa tracce nuove contenute in compilation quali le varie in Search of Sunrise con tracce che fanno parte della hall of fame delle canzoni trance migliori di sempre. Mi riferisco a tracce come beachball, voyage, la stupenda beautiful things e flight 643.

Tra Le tracce da segnalare oltre a quelle gia elencate troviamo uno dei grandi remix partoriti dal dj olandese della canzone di Imogen Heap, Hide & Seek, nonche Contact per arrivare alla song di chiusura..Dj Eremit – Tanz Der Seele.

Si può concludere che le scelte degli ascoltatori si sono rivelate azzecate e a Tiesto non restava altro che miscelarle nel suo show settimanale di 2 ore…

Aflu de la Nosfer, ca Tiesto vine sa mixeze pe 20.03.2009 in Obsession din Cluj Napoca, iar pe 21.03 la Sala Polivalenta, in Bucuresti. La Tiesto n-am fost niciodata, live i-am vazut pana acum doar pe Roger Sanchez, Moguai, Blank & Jones (de 2 ori), Moonbotica, Sebastian Ingrosso si pe inca unii. As merge si la ATB in Cluj, imi place chiar mai tare decat Tiesto…se mai baga cineva?

Tiesto este unul dintre cei mai apreciati si mai comerciali DJ din lume si fiindca mereu am incurajat lumea sa cumpere CD-urile originale ale artistilor preferati, va spun ca apasand AICI (pentru limited edition) sau AICI (pentru editia normala) puteti cumpara si CD-ul “Elements of life” al lui Tiesto, eu il am de mult si il mai ascult cu placere si acum!

You’re probably familiar with over two decades of Tiesto’s solo and remix work. If you want to keep up with what he’s up to now, tune into his Radio 538: Club Life podcast on iTunes.

Similar to Mick Boogie and Terry Urban, Tiesto released a 2 hour “Best of 2008″ podcast today featuring the top club/trance hits of the year. (Well, at least according to Tiesto).

Elements of Life

 is the third solo CD produced by trance artist Tiësto, released on April 16, 2007 (see 2007 in music). The album contains collaborations with Jes of Gabriel & Dresden’s project Motorcycle, Julie Thompson of Holden & Thompson, Charlotte Martin, Christian Burns, BT, and Maxi Jazz of Faithless. BT collaborates with Tiësto for the first time since Love Comes Again, andFaithless’s rapper/singer Maxi Jazz is featuring on Dance4Life. The album has more tracks featuring vocals than previous albums (excluding the remixed Just Be).

The album was nominated in the category “Best Electronic/Dance Album” at the 50th Grammy Awards.^[1] On April, 2007 the album moved 72,000 units according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album also received gold certifications in Belgium, Hungary,Netherlands, and Romania.^[2]

Note: In some territories (including the United States), track 12 is “He’s A Pirate” (7:00), a remix of the theme music of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl also featured on the CD single, and on initial retail shipments of Best Buy’s exclusive version of the movie soundtrack.^[3] ”Everything (Acoustic Version)” is excluded.

Note: The Limited Edition contains the original album with the remix of “He’s A Pirate” and a bonus disc.

During the production of the album Tiësto in several cases sent a demo with the music to certain artists, and they replied back with the lyrics and vocals and other duration times. In the case of Christian Burns from BB Mak, Tiësto met him through MySpace and got in contact with him and the production of the single “In The Dark“.^[4] The album consists of rock, trance and experimental music, which shows the style Tiësto has grown throughout the years since his previous albums which contained lyrics, In My Memory and Just Be. Producer Brian Transeau collaborated with Tiësto in three tracks, he composed “Bright Morning Star” and “Sweet Things“, he also performed the vocals in the single “Break My Fall“. Together, they produce more tracks which were not released in the album, Tiësto has mentioned they would work again during the coming summer.^[5]

In support of the album, he embarked on his Elements of Life World Tour, the Elements of Life World Tour DVD was released in a party which was held on February 29, 2008from 8 p.m. – 3 a.m. in London at the IndigO2 club.^[7] With the successful release of Elements of Life Tiësto and fashion designer Giorgio Armani collaborated together on a limited edition Tiësto T-shirt available at Armani Exchange stores. His single “Sweet Things” comes with the shirt including an exclusive “A|X Remix” by Tom Cloud which shows the great influence Tiësto has in fashion culture.^[8] The charity raised over $300,000.^[9] Tiësto and Reebok introduced the new ‘Tiësto shoe’ in November 2007. The shoebox comes with a special limited-edition Tiësto & Reebok CD, containing the Elements of Life album and the bonus disc. Only 1000 pair units were available for sale inNetherlands.^[10] In April 28, Tiësto released Elements of Life: Remixed, a recompilation of the Elements of Life album with all songs except “He’s A Pirate” being replaced by remixed versions, and “He’s A Pirate being replaced by “No More Heroes”, a joint production with mute performer trio Blue Man Group.^[11]
