Hallo da draußen, ich dachte ich mach mal ein bisschen Werbung für ein Programm, das ich echt super finde. Keine Sorge, ich werde auch nicht dafür bezahlt Das Programm ist OpenSource und heißt Blender.

Mit Blender kann man unglaublich viel anstellen, was mit Modellierung, Animation, Spieleentwicklung, etc. zu tun hat. Und das ganze bei einer Downloadgröße von 10,8 MB (Stand 11.09.2009). Es ist ein wenig schwer sich am Anfang in das Programm reinzufinden. Ich denke aber, dass es nicht schwerer zu erlernen ist als vergleichbare Anwendungen wie Maya oder 3dsmax. Es gibt im Netz allerdings genug Tutorialseiten, mit deren Hilfe es möglich ist, das Programm anhand von Beispielen kennen zu lernen.

Diese Seiten sind gute Anlaufstellen, falls man ein bisschen in die 3D-Gestaltung reinschauen will. Ich werde hier evtl. in den nächsten Tagen noch zwei Studienarbeiten hochladen, in denen ich auch eine Einführung in das Modellieren und die Animation gebe. Alles was da drin steht, kann aber auch auf den oben genannten Seiten gefunden werden.

Mit Blender wurden unter anderem zwei Kurzanimationsfilme erstellt, die wirklich sehenswert sind. “Big Buck Bunny” gibt es hier und “Elephants Dream” hier.

Bom, esse é um dos primeiros curtas produzidos no inteiramente no nosso Blender 3D com a direção do Ton Roosendaal, sim, ele mesmo, o cara que criou a NaN e movimentou os palitinhos para que podessem comprar o codigo fonte do software!

Bom, esse video é um tanto antigo e foi feito com o objetivo de mostrar o potencial monstruoso que esse “simples” software apresenta.

Então…com vocês…Elephants Dream!

Bom gente, feriadão me impediu um pouco de produzir tutorial de fato mas esta aqui o postzinho para constar e para a galera conhecer um pouco mais o potencial do “nosso” programa.

This meeting was about the power of open source in animation field and how to assemble the computer peripherals. Most of the members of KLOSC did not aware of the meeting place as it was changed on the last minute due to some special classes for lateral entry students. But, the seniors didn’t cancel the meeting. They took the class as-usual. Fifteen members were participated in this meeting.

First –of-all the animation movies ( Elephant’s Dream and Big Buck Bunny ) was shown to all the students. The animations were awesome and overplayed the work done by Maya and 3D’s max. All the members were so excited, when they saw that animation movie. Now all students were felt the power of open source in multimedia .Then Diwakar of 2^nd year ,took the seminar on CPU parts in the computer. He taught by means of visualization. It was very easy to understand and we really enjoyed it. At the end of the session 3 final year peoples ( Aarthi,Jayalakshmi and Kavitha.A) joined with us and we gave a summary about the session to them.

The meeting spiritly ended with our slogan “I Can I Will”

Como les dije al principio de este blog, siempre me gusta traer novedades y opciones para todos, como blog no oficial de atlantic college, les mencione que quería traerles siempre inspiración y opciones tanto de software privativo como open source. En este articulo que fue escrito en http://www.linuxmovies.org/ que esta escrito en ingles, se estara hablando del software numero 1 en Hollywood, el por que usan open source. Mi idea no es convertir a los estudiantes y demás personas a que se cambien a linux, lo mas importante es cada cual sentirse comodo con su sistema operativo, pero como en este mundo siempre la gente quieren tratar de usar lo que la mayoría usa, pues… por que no hablar de linux en la industria del cine y el entretenimiento? In the film industry, Linux has won. It’s running on practically all servers and desktops used for feature animation and visual effects. LinuxMovies.org met monthly in Hollywood for years, but now rarely meets.
Linux is used to create practically every blockbuster movie in theaters today, movies produced by Disney/Pixar, DreamWorks Animation, Sony, ILM, and other studios.
Linux is the most popular operating system for big budget feature film animation and visual effects, with more than 95% of the servers and desktops at large animation and visual effects companies. People outside the film industry, and even inside the industry sometimes, don’t realize that Linux is so big at large studios. Linux is the norm in Hollywood and considered the state-of-the-art. In this upside-down world where Windows and Mac are minority operating systems, Linux evangelists would be hard-pressed to find anyone left to convert. The free operating system built by the people for the people has been embraced foremost by film studios.
Hollywood prefers Linux because in the right hands it’s better, faster and cheaper. At large companies that have thousands of servers and desktops, the economy and massive efficiency of Linux is felt most. At smaller production companies, Windows or Macs are often more popular because economy of scale doesn’t apply. Despite that, some small shops run primarily Linux. Some production companies use a mixed environment. For example, South Park is produced using Mac desktops with Linux servers. Although king in the film industry, Linux is rarely seen in the television industry due to much more modest computer needs.
Unlike Windows or Macintosh, no company owns Linux. Developers at many companies contribute code to Linux which is available for free and runs on all types of computer hardware. Companies such as HP, Dell, IBM, Verari, Boxx, and others build Linux systems to film industry specifications.
LinuxMovies.org is a group of over 300 technologists helping each other support Linux in film industry applications and advancing Linux motion picture technology.

Elephants Dream is the story of two strange characters exploring a capricious and seemingly infinite machine. The elder, Proog, acts as a tour-guide and protector, happily showing off the sights and dangers of the machine to his initially curious but increasingly skeptical protege Emo. As their journey unfolds we discover signs that the machine is not all Proog thinks it is, and his guiding takes on a more desperate aspect.

Elephants Dream is a story about communication and fiction, made purposefully open-ended as the world’s first 3D animated “Open movie”. The film itself is released under the Creative Commons license, along with the entirety of the production files used to make it (roughly 7 Gigabytes of data). The software used to make the movie is the free/open source animation suite Blender along with other open source software, thus allowing the movie to be remade, remixed and re-purposed with only a computer and the data on the DVD or download.,

Project Orange

‘Elephants Dream’ is the result of almost a year of work, a project initiated and coordinated by the Blender Foundation. Six people from the Blender user/development community were selected to come over to Amsterdam to work together on an animated short movie, utilizing Open Source tools only.

Motivation

With Blender originating as an in-house creation tool, the day-to-day feedback and interaction of both developing and using the software was one of its most outstanding features.

In the past 2.5 years of open source development, it was especially this uniqueness of Blender that has proven to be difficult to organize and maintain. The Blender Foundation itself has no intention to grow or expand into a company or studio; such a development would conflict with the public benefit goals. Instead, the Foundation aims at endorsing and supporting activities within (educational) institutes, universities and companies.

It is our conviction that establishing – content targeted – incidental, independent and temporal projects will be a strong boost for open source development strategies in general. Daily interaction of artists and developers can not only result in proof of concepts, but also in research of innovative solutions for the whole range of tools artists can deploy.

By keeping such projects content focused and temporal, it also is possible for a wide range of currently active volunteers to participate. Not many people are in a position to give up a career (study, job) to become full-time employed on the projects of their interest. But there are many active volunteers prepared and motivated to do this incidentally for shorter time spans.

Whilst Project Orange’s prime target is to create an outstanding movie short, the secondary goal is to research efficient ways to increase quality of Open Source projects in general.

Producers

The project has been a co-production of Montevideo and Blender Foundation, both sharing financial responsibility on equal basis. Both producers will decide and agree together on the Milestones A) Creative Concept and B) Final Project Plan.

All production related internal staff costs of the producers are excluded from the financial plan. The producers jointly will further define their respective tasks for this.

Overall project coordination

The Blender Foundation will be responsible for establishing and coordinating the team, making a project plan, coordinating the concept/scripting/story-boarding, tools development, post-production & audio, and project deliverables.

Employment issues

For those who will be part of the “core” team, Montevideo will do the legal/taxes stuff, housing arrangement, and actually will hire the team.

Subsidy/Funding

Montevideo will take the lead for applying subsidy grants with funds like The Dutch Film Fund, the Mondrian Fund or the VSB Fund.

The Blender Foundation will finance their contribution via an internet community based donations campaign, based on pre-sale of the “extended DVD edition”.

Já um pouco atrasados seguimos para Almada para buscar a Maria José e a Patrícia que nos aguardavam, ao frio, à prta do Pavilhão dos Desportos de Almada. Foi uma correria até chegarmos à primeira paragem da noite  Teatro da Comuna, onde iriamos assistir a peça Homem Sem Rumo.

Uma peça diferente, dura e fria. Recomendo vivamente!

Uma interpretação espectacular de todos os actores. Sim eu sei que sou um pouco suspeita por conhecer o Tempera, mas é sempre interessante quando vê-mos um amigo a actuar e não o reconhecemos de todo. Conclusão fiquei pregada ao palco, super concentrada e espectante com o que se ia passar a seguir…

Depois da peça decidimos relaxar um pouco no café-teatro da Comuna, é sempre agradável estar ali, aquele espaço torna-se mágico para quem já la esteve em situações completamete diferentes.

Ficamos a saber que a todas as primeiras sextas-feiras do mês continuam a decorrer as fantásticas festas da Comuna, a um preço magnifico (€5)! O que também recomendo, pois se estiveres numa de te divertires “à brava” lá é o sitio indicado!

Eram 00h00 e depois de a Sónia e a Susana terem ido embora e de a Sílvia ter desistido ir à Galeria Zé dos Bois (ZDB) resolvemos rumar à LXFactory para uma festa organizada pela Embaxada Lomografica.

As coisas por aqui estão quietas por enquanto, não sei até quando. Estamos BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM atrasados essa semana… digo, ESTOU bem atrasado. Temos apenas três páginas prontas e o resto do caderno para fechar. I CAN DO IT. [que mentira...]

Bom, daqui a pouco nós voltamos com mais um post. Vamos tentar adiantar algo por aqui.

O Vídeo de hoje se chama ELEPHANT`S DREAM, o Sonho do Elefante, e é uma animação sobre comunicação e ficção propositalmente inacabada, é o primeiro Open Movie em 3D do mundo. Tanto o filme quanto todos os outros arquivos utilizados na composição, um total de aproximadamente 7 GB, foram publicados com licensas do Creative Commons. Esperamos que gostem. XD

Several years ago when I first dipped my fingers in the realm of 3d development I came across an open source graphics application called Blender and read about it from current users , then I saw the Elephants Dream movie which was made entirely with Blender. It’s so amazing to look at and so I downloaded the installer and installed it.

It was so simple to get it running right after I got it downloaded and installed. No configuration or changes in the current system was needed. The first time I saw the console I got so excited with all the cool buttons for so many functions and tools, like a child in front of a new game, I got so amazed at what it can do that I ended finishing nothing that day.  I moved from one function to another and then another, and by the time I went to my fifth button I forgot what the first one does. The next day I did simple things like a basket ball, a shoe, key with key chains, a  replica of my house which I think is greatly detailed.  Then I did a model starship for StarTrek.  One should have a pretty good memory to know if it’s a part of the star fleet’s armada or not.. but of course it’s not.

The last thing I remember using Blender was when I was doing actions for a movie.  A simple ball bouncing from one wall to another.  Changing the focus of the camera while the ball moves from one side to the next.  It would be nice to play around with Blender again sometime. Maybe a weekend project…

Leistungsfähigkeit und Qualität zeichnen ein Produkt aus! Nicht der Name und schon gar nicht der Preis! Perfektion muss nicht teuer sein, es kostet in manchen Fällen lediglich etwas mehr engargement…

Der erste Kontakt zu einem Produkt entsteht im Normalfall auf optischem Wege. Eine Anzeige in einer Fachzeitschrift oder in einem Werbespot im Abendprogramm. Hin und wieder kommt der erste Kontakt auch durch einen Kollegen oder durch einen Freund zustande, wenn er sein gekauftes Produkt anpreist.

In den ersten beiden Fällen gewinnt natürlich das optisch am besten in Szene gesetze Produkt. Was dafür spricht, dass eine aufwendigere Kampagne auch zu besserer Käuferlaune führt. Eine gute Produktwerbung kostet das Unternehmen sehr viel Geld, was bei der Verkaufssumme immer eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Klar muss dann aber auch die funktionalität des Produktes für seinen Preis sprechen. Ganz getreu dem Motto “Wer viel bezahlt, soll auch was ganz tolles dafür bekommen“. In der Autobranche ist dies Gang und gebe. Wer will schon wegen Sparmaßnahmen ohne getestete Knautschzone fahren. Bei Sicherheit sollte der Preis aber auch keine Rolle spielen!

Aber um Autos soll es hier in meinem Artikel jetzt auch gar nicht gehen. Hier geht es um Software und bei der zählen die meisten Argumente aus der Autobranche nicht. Aber dazu später.

Wenn man sich folgende bewegte Bilder ansieht…

… würde man wohl sofort an eine teure Produktion denken, die Programme vorraussetzt, die kein Sterblicher je bezahlen könnte! Aber das stimmt nicht. BigBuckBunny ist ein OpenSource-Projekt und wurde ausschließlich mit dem kostenlosen Programm Blender der “Blender Foundation” erstellt. Die Engine des Programms schein also Leistungsstark und qualitativ Hochwertig zu sein. Im vergleich zum Kommerzprodukt aus dem Hause Autodesk oder Zbrush der Firma Pixologic scheint die Wahl nicht schwer zu fallen. Auch wenn Maya und Konsorten wohl in Sachen Technik und Bedienung ein Schritt weiter zu sein scheinen, so wird der Vorsprung immer kleiner und kleiner. BigBuckBunny hat wohl sehr deutlich gezeigt, dass Qualität und Leistungsfähigkeit keinen so hohen Preis rechtfertigen. Wenn aber der Hase noch nicht überzeugt hat, dann habe ich hier noch ein anderes Video…

All diese Bilder sind ebenfalls durch das Programm Blender entstanden. Der Name “Elephants Dream” ist Programm und zeigen die elefantenstarke Leistung von Blender. Diese beiden Videos haben meine Meinung sehr stark verändert. Wo Maya früher meine Erfüllung war, steht nun in Großbuchstaben “Blender” und OpenSource verdrängt immer weiter Kommerzsoftware von meinem Rechner.

Wo andere, in teuren, auf hochglanz geputzten Kampagnen falsche Hoffnungen wecken, werkelt die fleißige und hochmotivierte OpensourceGemeinde an immer attraktiver werdenden Produkten und vertrauen dabei einfach darauf, dass die Vernunft des Nutzers die bessere Entscheidung treffen wird!

Opensource fordert ein wenig mehr an Grundwissen.  Dafür bietet diese Lösung aber jedem, der etwas für seinen Geldbeutel und eine starke Gemeinde tun will, mehr Leistung, als er alleine jemals brauchen wird!

Hace unos días leí un mensaje sobre el lanzamiento de la segunda película hecha totalmente con Blender. Bueno, ni idea tenía de que era blender… Es un programa para diseñar en 3D, completamente libre. Y los resultados han sido muy buenos. Se han realizado dos películas (bueno, cortometrajes para ser mas exactos), que son:

Tomado de Wikipedia: “Elephants Dream (Sueño de los Elefantes) es el primer cortometraje de la historia de animación realizada prácticamente usando sólo software libre y que además se ofrece de forma pública con licencia o condiciones basada en la filosofía del conocimiento libre. Duración del corto : 11 minutos.”.

Sinceramente, apenas estamos viendo los alcances que el Software libre va a tener. SL es el futuro, y que bueno es saber que estamos en él.

Desde que publiqué Logo a Logo en su formato de eBook todo han sido satisfacciones. He recibido innumerables felicitaciones tanto en los comentarios de este blog como a través del correo personal.

Pero sin duda la mayor sorpresa me la llevé cuando recibí un correo de la Universidad de Extremadura en la que se invitaba a Joaclint Istgud (Joaquín Herrera Goás) a participar en uno de sus prestigiosos cursos de verano dedicados al software libre (recordemos que esta es una de las comunidades pioneras en fomentar el software libre en los entornos educativos). Se me invitaba, concretamente, a realizar para los 50 alumnos que se matriculen una ponencia-tutorial sobre diseño vectorial con Inkscape.

Cómo no puede ser de otra forma he dicho que sí y allí estaré los días 1, 2 y 3 de Julio de 2008, en Mérida (Badajoz). Mi ponencia se llevará a acabo el día 3.

El curso en su conjunto se titula “Aplicaciones del Software libre en el Diseño Gráfico” y se desarrollarán los siguientes temas:
