Lo primero que hice fue bajarme las dos versiones, la estable, que es la Elive GEM 1.0 y la ultima version inestable, Elive 1.9.51. La primera que probé en forma de Live CD fue la estable en mi Pentium 4, la verdad es que iba como la seda y detectaba bastante bien todo el hardware, pero me falto tiempo para encontrarle la primera pega, no tiene soporte para la encriptación WPA del wifi, y tras una hora peleandome con el WPA supplicant me di por vencido, nunca lograré usar ese programita…

Bueno, la primera impresión la verdad es que me gusto, de hecho lo probe también como Live CD en un Compaq Presario 1200 que tiene un Celeron 600Mhz y 188MB de Ram, y más quisiera el Win98 que tuvo instalado funcionar así.

Luego me fui a por la version inestable e hice con la ISO y Unetboting un Live USB y lo arranque en el Acer Aspire One, creyendo por fin que este sería por fin el SO definitivo para esta maquinita. Dureante el arranque, te da la opcion de ejecutar un kernel preparado para el Asus EEE 701, así que lo probe para ver ue tal iba, y la verdad es que iba bastante fluido, a priori lo detectaba todo e incluse pude conectarme a mi Wifi ya que soportaba el WPA. Posteriormente, ejecute elmodo Default, y tres cuartos de lo mismo, todo iba bien. Así pues, diel paso definitivo, y lo instale en el ordenador. Tras cerca de una hora de instalación y otra de configuración durante el primer arranque del sistema me di cuenta que pese a no ir mal, la verdad es que comparados con otro sistemas que le he instalado, tardaba bastante en arrancar, unos 2 minutos, coriosamente más que la forma Live USB, pero lo peor fue a la hora de pasar las fotos desde una tarjeta xD al ordenador, ninguno de los dos lectores de tarjetas eran detectados… Esta ya fue mi decepción, y ahora tengo que buscar la forma de instalar un kernel personalizado para el AAO, en internet hay uno que se llama Sickboy-Kuki, que lo tenía antes en la versión de Lord-Sauron Linux, ahora solo me queda probar y a ver si hay suerte para arrancarlo.

Eso sí, en el Pentium 4 instalaré la versión inestable ahora mismo.

Y os contaré como me han ido estas trastadas de fin de semana.

Ok this is our the final installment of our joint fan account, it’s more like a conclusion and wrap up of all the spazzing. We hope that you enjoyed reading it and perhaps believed in our Bumsso/Soeul couple even more. We know we did. This was truly a memorable experience for us. We can only hope Abs-Cbn does good on promoting Dream here and that Kim Bum would come back in the future like he said. Thank you for all the comments. Also, we are very grateful that we were given this opportunity so many thanks to BOFPH, Abs Cbn and RC Cola. Our lives will not be the same again.

After the taping was over we spazzed like mad, we all had our ideas and we were over the moon with excitement. Bummie saw our banners, he smiled at us and at himself (while thinking of the possibility of the suggestion in the banner perhaps?). That day, it was not important whether you have spare batteries or not. It did not matter that we only have two placards.  We got our message to Bummie across and that is enough. It was all worth the time and effort, whatever we had to deal with vanished into thin air.

That was an experience to remember, definitely one of the highlights in our life. We wished you guys were there too to see his reactions and to see him in person. We believe that soon you’ll meet Bummie just like how we did meet him even though we thought it was somehow close to impossible. We also hope that we represented the SoEulmaters well and that we have made you happy with all our efforts and observations.

Seeing Bummie in person and seeing all his reactions especially to our banners was definitely THE highlight of the day, probably of the month, of the year and of our lives. BUT, apart from that, the friendship that we built with the fans there (and even between us) was also a great bonus!

Again, all this would not have been possible had we were not selected by BOF PH to watch E-live, and of course, RC Cola and ABS-CBN (plus the E-live staff) for bringing Bummie to the Philippines.

AND of course, the Almighty Creator for making everything fall into place.

4. He just love the idea of him marrying So Eun and would like to send a “yup, I got your message” to us
5. He was trying to figure out the small text below his name in one of the banners (KIM BUM <3)
6. He was waiting for the other side of one of the banners

This was a bit overdue. Sorry. Mian. I realize people were waiting for this. The RC cola CF just came out. Real life takes over and certain distractions.  Anyway without further delay. Part 2 below.

When the segment began, we held up the placards and we cheered as loudly as we could. Imagine how our hearts stopped when he suddenly did a double take when he saw our banners (we were pretty sure it was ours he was looking at because we were on the corner at the upper right side and it was just us at that area who has a text banner, the rest had picture banners, and a couple of text banners at the bottom left of the right side audience and those at the audience bleachers in front of the stage ). AND to top it off, his eyes widened at that moment and smiled hugely thereafter. Gyahhh those popping eyes and that million dollar smile, who could ever mistaken that for something else?

As the show went on, we noticed something, Bummie kept looking back at our section. It seemed as if he was reading the banners we were holding and was very interested. We may not have the exact pictures of him looking at us, but looking back at the E-live tape those glances and huge smiles were there. Plus, if you’d notice in the E-live video (and as captured in the above collage), the Soeulmaters holding up the banners were focused thrice. Now, we were not acting really crazy as the rest of the audience, but why would we be focused on camera? We’d like to think that the cameraman and director noticed Bummie staring several times to that side and they’d like to see for themselves what got Bummie’s attention.

Now, even if we were all dazzled by Bummie and unable to concentrate fully to the hosts and translator, we do know that Ms. Translator kept on changing Bummie’s words, sugar coating it, removing some and even adding to it (how professional eh? Yes, it’s hard to translate, but don’t you think a translator should not be adding his/her own comments?), especially, when we heard her say “love is in the air”. This was when we four kept shouting SoEul! SoEul! SoEul! In the video, you can see Kit, another SoEulmater, and at first look some may think she got excited with that comment but, as we know, Kit is one loyal SoEulmater… So, what was Kit saying and thinking then? Here it is: “ANDWAE!!!! NO WAY!!!! OVER MY DEAD BODY!!!! SOEUL!!!!” (It was so hard to scream, cause everyone was screaming. )

Well, do we need to give you more proof that he really saw the banner and even enjoyed it? See the above collage? You can see the direction that his eye was looking at and the positioning of his head when looking at different things – the hosts, the audience below, the audience above. Didn’t that convince you yet? Two, being focused thrice when we weren’t even acting as crazy as the rest of the audience. We’d like to think that the cameraman and director noticed Bummie staring several times to that side and they’d like to see for themselves what got Bummie’s attention. Need more? Three, look at the BOF PH official fan club group picture (to follow) and you’ll see that there were only two areas with Korean text banner in that right side crowd – one was at the lower left side and the other was us, on the upper right corner. Well, are you convinced already *winks*?

We were also very happy that Bummie was able to receive the BOF Philippines Fan Club’s gift for him (the bear with the hat and several BOF PH items). The hosts presented it to him as the interview was going on (much to our delight hahhaa it was like we got to touch Bummie since we touched the bear before the show started). This is a must know: After the interview, as Bummie was heading down the stage (holding the teddy bear he was given on his left arm against his chest) and before he reaches the steps, the cap on the teddy bear’s head fell off. Bummie stopped on his tracks, stooped and got the cap, which he replaced on the teddy bear’s head. AAAAAAWWW!

(SIDENOTE: THAT happened with all those oh-so-many bodyguards in black barongs by his side- one to his left, another behind him and then another in front. It was a good thing the one at his right was lagging behind and we get to see this thing happen. Those bodyguards only left his side when he was on stage, being interviewed. His Security was MAD strict. SCARY moments there especially when he arrived and when he was leaving. And when they were approaching and telling us ‘no professional cameras, only cellphone cams allowed’ before Bummie’s E-Live segment airs *shivers*. The teddy cap thing was so sweet right? Others would have not noticed the cap falling off or would just leave it on the floor but Bummie is sooo SWEET. Our fangirl level was raised again to new heights)

Dreams do really come true, at least for us it did. Never would we have thought that we will be fortunate enough to be able to go see Bummie in the flesh. We sure didn’t (we even were already contemplating of stalking Bummie in South Korea). It was right after a huge typhoon that had affected Manila a lot, and at that low point a light came shining through. It was because of RC Cola, ABS-CBN Management, Entertainment Live Staff and Boys Over Flowers Philippines (BOF PH) that we were given the chance to see him – Kim Bum and his royal cuteness.

Despite another typhoon that was approaching, he landed in Manila on September 30, 2009 safe and sound (And very discreet… it shocked us all that he was already in the Philippines). He was all set to shoot a CF with Filipino actress Maja Salvador (the CF shoot was kept highly confidential). During his stay here, Kim Bum also said that he wanted to be of help during this time of relief efforts that were ongoing for those affected by the typhoon.

NOTE: The following is the combined accounts of those who watched Entertainment Live. The analysis of the Entertainment Live Video was uploaded and taken from youtube. Interpretation is all yours… these are merely our observations what we felt and what we saw, it’s up to our readers if they wish to believe. Haters please don’t hate us. Soeulmate delusional or not, like everyone else we love Bummie and Eunnie.  This is one long fan account, stay with us this is gonna be a doozy.

October 3, 2009 Saturday

With all the worries of the new typhoon which had just arrived, it was just a given we had to go see Bummie by hook or by crook. Through an online contest last October 2, BOF PH had arranged for 90 members to attend as part of the studio audience of E-live in the ABS-CBN compound where Kim Bum would make an appearance. We all met at the ABS-CBN compound hours before the show was to be shown. While we were waiting in line, we tried to pass time as best we could. So we just talked to other fans, wished we had more banners, placards or something to give to Bummie. We also wondered if our camera batteries would last long enough for the whole time we were there. We were definitely anxious and excited. It was drizzling outside but all that was forgotten; only the anticipation of seeing Bummie in the flesh was our main concern.

In a while we entered the studio and the approximately 110 KB-crazed fans were divided into two groups – the one in front of the stage and the one at the right side of the stage. We were seated at the higher part of the right side of the bleachers and a friend of ours was seated in the bleachers facing the front of the stage. It was a mad wait for the taping to start, but more importantly for Kim Bum to appear. A staff member briefed us on what we should or should not do during the show’s airing. Patiently, we waited as they set up and got ready for the show. When the cameras did start rolling, we behaved like a nice audience, anticipating the arrival of Bummie on the set.

Few minutes felt like the longest hour. With every movement and every commotion we looked to see if  Bummie had arrived. And as if the heavens heard us, Kim Bum finally appeared. It was a mass flurry of excitement from all the fans who were there. Ear deafening screams and shouts to Kim Bum were heard. Surrounded by security, Bummie made his way to the stage where the 3 hosts were waiting for him. As customary, Bummie had to greet the hosts, chit chat and basically get ready for the segment. We were soooo jealous because they were able to have pictures WITH Bummie taken (it was so cute that Mariel Rodriguez (one of the hosts) was even teasing us about it when the show ended. LOL at her actions then). The fact that we could only use our cellphones to take pictures and not the real cameras was really booooo (i wanted to sneak but that marshall has such a watchful eye).

We’re sure everyone in the audience during Kim Bum’s E-Live interview had to watch video captures/recording of that segment of the show again. Seeing Bummie in the flesh makes everything – apart from keeping track of what he is doing, screaming the most fanatical fangirl(boy) scream one can muster and waving to him like crazy – a difficult feat. (We admit he looked tired at first and really haggard, but that didn’t take away any of his good looks.) Everyone was lost in the moment (the hosts themselves were fangirling ‘on air’) and were barely aware of what was happening around them- including surveillance of the exact translation of Bummie’s words (But, even if we couldn’t even concentrate on the hosts and the interpreter’s words, we already knew that the lady interpreter was doing a bad job at translating Bummie’s words and that she kept on adding her own words and removing Bummie’s).

The adrenaline rush is definitely more than enough to sustain all  the energy one needs to do more than just scream “Saranghae!”, being starstruck takes over. Despite the excitement, your eyes couldn’t help but be glued to his flawless (as Mariel Rodriguez pointed out) face, with that oh-so-charming smile. If you think his smile on TV is SUPER CHARMING, seeing it personally is simply a HEART STOPPING moment. The audience, during pauses of their screaming frenzy, were grinning like crazy.

During the interview, on the times when the hosts do the talking or the translator does her job (or does NOT do her job), Bummie scanned and read all the fans’ messages on the banners and placards (his gesture is caught on camera). And he must have spotted good and interesting fan messages too! Seeing the surprised then amused look followed by that charming smile as he glanced (NOTE: more than once) AT A PARTICULAR SECTION of the audience certainly made this experience more than just WORTH IT. It was the best interaction ever! We are glad to have amused you, and made you smile, Bummie! It’s the least we can do for you! (You feel as if he was smiling at you!)

And of course, the camera finally catches up on what’s going on (albeit late) and zooms in on the area where Bummie just could not help but always find his eyes drawn to.

The make or break question: Do you think the placards worked? His reactions tell it all! ^_^

Still, we will be glad to give you the breakdown of those 2 most precious moments (of all the precious moments ^_^) we had with Bummie that day via screencaps of the video captures of Bummie’s E-Live interview.

As you see, we prepared placards to bring to the studio. One placard had “Soeul Over Flowers” on black background and “Please Marry So Eun” on white background. The other placard had  KIM BUM <3 with a name on a smaller size at the bottom — can you guess whose? – written on the black side, and the names of SI ladies with links to BOF PH and SoEulmates International sites, on the white side.

Hoy me he dado una vuelta por elivecd.org ya que hacia un buen rato que no pasaba por allì,solo para ver como va el desarrollo de lo inestable y resulta que no encuentro la forma de descargar la ultima version sin tener que hacer una donaciòn o esperar una invitaciòn (rara).Despues comentan que las proximas versiones (estables) van a ser libres (live cds) pero habrà que pagar para instalarlas.

For the next stable release, it is planned to allow the download totally free. Instead of pay for the download you should pay just for the installation. This means that the live mode is entirely free and you should pay only if you want to install Elive in your hard disk.

Vaya,me dejan frio!.Claro que tienen derecho a cobrar por su trabajo pero vamos que no es la mejor distro del planeta ni muy estable que digamos.Por mi parte que se olviden.

Esta es la tercera entrega de posts sobre el desarrollo de los diferentes entornos de escritorio para GNU/Linux, anteriormente habíamos hablado de KDE y GNOME, ahora le toca a los entornos “ligeros” XFCE, LXDE y Enlightenment 17, que se han vueltos entornos muy populares para distros que buscan la rapidez.

XFCE 4.6.1 y mas: El proyecto XFCE en este año ha lanzado la versión 4.6 de su entorno de escritorio y su actualización 4.6.1. El proyecto XFCE claramente busca quitarse la imagen se ser un GNOme-light, ya que con esta versión agrego su propio mixer, además de adoptar a Midori (navegador ligero webkit) como parte del proyecto. Entre las cosas que mencionan en el desarrollo es mejoras en el appfinder que le permita reconocer comandos tipo terminal para ejecutar, aparte de soporte para URLs, o microblogging (ver imagen), soporte para sftp para Thunar, además de añadir soporte para Cairo, y añadir extensiones para xfce4-panel y thunar. Este es otro que proyecto que cambiara bastante cuando salgan las librerías GTK 3.0, y que con cada version mejora en funciones y que tiene un desarrollo constante.

LXDE: Este entorno ha adquirido una popularidad entre distribuciones ligeras, con gestor de ventanas openbox, este es un ejemplo que es mas que la suma de sus partes (lxpanel, lxrandr, lxnm, gpicview, pcmanfm). Una de las notas es que posiblemente este pueda convertirse en proyecto auto-mantenido por la comunidad Ubuntu, cosa que aun esta por verse. Otra cosa es el cambio total que tendrá Pcmanfm, ahora basado en una librería en desarrollo libfm, así como basarse en gio/gvfs (quiere decir que podrá abrir lugares como trash:/// o computer:///). Otro sera lxnm (el manejador de redes de LXDE) para convertirlo en una aplicación aparte (algo asi como wicd) sin depender de lxpanel. LXDE siempre me ha parecido un híbrido entre los entornos de escritorio y gestores de ventanas, y una opción para equipos viejos, bueno que no se han desviado de esa opción.

Enlightenment 17: El proyecto de nunca acabar…E17 sera una evolución en lo que conocemos como entornos de escritorio, tanto en lo visual como en el uso. Quizás hace un año el proyecto parecía casi muerto, pero se han puesto “las pilas” actualizando las EVAS y no las que están pensando..sino las librerías que forman parte del proyecto (Einas, Evas, Ecore, Edje, E_Dbus, Efreet). Hay formas de probar el proyecto E17 (por ejemplo Elive), pero esta claro que aun esta verde para un uso diario, pasara un tiempo para que podamos usar una version estable de este entorno.

Modifiche: NVIDIA e ATI – quando aggiornate il kernel e i moduli, interromperete i vostri drivers NVIDIA/ATI ad eccezione se aggiornate o installate o rimuovete ogni cosa a mano, questo problema è risolto in questa versione racchiudendo tutto il kernel e i pacchetti driver (ed i pacchetti GLX); boot accelerato – un boot leggermente accelerato del live system; cose pratiche – conversione dei file audio a MP3 od OGG con il click destro su essi al’interno del file manager.” Leggete il resto dell’annuncio di rilascio per ulteriori informazioni.

Pues no, no tengo la costumbre de cambiar periodicamente mi escritorio, al menos en lo que respecta al fondo. Lo cambie hace un par de dias y bien podria ser que lo cambie manhana o pasado… o dentro de un mes… diablos! ahorita mismo lo podria hacer. Nadie sabe.

Y lo siento mucho por GNOME o KDE, me he enamorado de Enlightenment 17 y eso no creo cambiarlo por el momento, aunque en las de escritorio (2) siguen corriendo Ubuntu y Fedora con GNOME, ambas.

Y bueno, eso que ven es Enlightenment 17 (v0.16.999.050) en Elive (compiz-unstable), con los gadgets arreglados a mi manera para aprovechar lo mejor posible mis 1024×768 px de espacio. El fondo es algo que encontre por ahi, revisitado con Inkscape, los gadgets son el del Menu, Photo, Forecasts, Temperature (system), Calendar, Clock y Places… la barra en centro-inferior ya viene por defecto con Elive.

Elive es una distribucion basada en Debian, muy buena distribucion para aquellos que les guste la modernidad, conbinado con la seguridad y rendimiento.
Elive, para mi una de las mejores distribuciones de linx basadas en Debian, ya que desde el inicio te sientes comodo con su entorno grafico, con su rendimiento y en general con todo lo que es este gran Sistema Operativo.

Desde hace dos dias (el tiempo que lo tengo instalado en mi PC) me siento mas comodo que usar windows (mientras no sea windows es comodo), he visto algo que no habia visto hasta hoy en algun sistema Live CD, viene con una barra estilo Mac que por lo general en este tipo de S.O. necesita acelerar los graficos para hacer que funcione o en algunos casos para que se instale. Otro cambio muy bueno es que es muy intuitivo (más si haz usado algun Mac OS). Viene con muchos paquetes basicos instalados, a comparacion de ubuntu que si quieres montar tus particiones NTFS necesitas al gun programa, Elive ya trae por defecto(seleccionandolo en el menu de arranque) lectura y escritura.

Su instalacion es muy facil, ya que tiene tres opciones para instalar:

1. Principiates (con gran ayuda para su instalacion)
2. Intermedio (sin tantas preguntas pero con ayuda adicional)
3. Avanzados (sin preguntas y sin ayuda pero si ya eres usuario avanzado es como untarle mayonesa a un pan)

Por cierto muy ligero, muy elegante y mucho muy Bueno. Se me olvida mencionar que su arranque es mucho mas rapido que cualquier otro S.O. qque haya probado.

Como todos los buenos sistemas opertivos (windows no es un buen sistema)instala el Grub que no se vien que significa XD lo unico que se es que desde el Grub seleccionas que sistema operativo quieres usar.
Tabien trae por defecto XMMS un muy buen reproductor (para mi el mejor) de mp3, wma y muchos formatos de musica que normalmente no soportan los reproductores que traen por defecto las distribuciones Linux.

Totalmente recomendado si tu eres de aquellos que piensa que Linux tiene entornos graficos muy simples y estaticos.

Linux. It’s great strength is it’s great versatility and diversity. It can also be a downside. It is possible to have too much choice.

How do you know what flavour is right for you? Mostly, you need to try one and see. That’s what I have been doing anyway. Of the mainstream stuff I have so far tried installed versions of Fedora (freedom|features|friends|first), Debian (the universal operating system), Ubuntu (Linux for humans) and Elive (where Debian meets enlightenment). I have used Knoppix (zero to linux in 5 minutes) and Backtrack (the worlds finest security distro) from liveCD for specific tasks, and I have a cut-down version of Debian, uNSLUng, running on my two Linksys NSLU2s.

I have settled with Ubuntu on my Sony Vaio laptop, and Elive on my old desktop. I gotta say, I truly love the both of them. Elive is one fantastic looking OS, though it is lacking mainstream appeal. And it does not have the community support that you will find with Ubuntu (or any of the larger distros).

First time trying Linux? Try Ubuntu. Really know your stuff, give Debian a try. Saving a dead/dying system? Knoppix is your friend.

Me han llegado tres dos codigos de descarga para Elive Gem, version estable. Si alguien esta interesado en obtenerlo se hace necesario que comenten en este post vuestras intenciones, con su nick y correo electronico en el cual desean recibir el codigo. En el email con el codigo recibiran tambien las instrucciones de descarga.

Por el momento solo tengo dos. Recibire dos mas por cada codigo compartido. Asi que sientanse en plena libertad para pedirlos.

Me he decidido por escribir el post definitivo sobre esta preciosa distro. No puedo estar menos que encantado despues de un mes de estarla usando.

Considero que el equipo de desarrollo de elive es de mas pequeño para tan buen trabajo que han realizado, tomando en cuenta que Samuel ‘Thanatermesis’ F. Baggen es el lider del proyecto y quien se encarga directamente de su desarrollo, asi como del sitio web.

Muchos puristas del Software Libre probablemente busquen algun defecto en el proyecto, pero recordemos que libre no significa gratis y de alguna manera hay que reconocer tan buen trabajo. Ademas, la distro no trae consigo ningun software propietario, mas que aquel relacionado a codecs de audio y video que nosotros ya conocemos. No hay que firmar/aceptar ningun EULA, no hay que apegarse a ninguna licencia privativa ni mucho menos. Con 100 MHz de procesador minimo y 64 Mb de RAM vas de viaje. Para quienes tienen lo ultimo en su equipo, pues no deberian de dejar escapar la oportunidad de ver volaresta distro.

Y si lo que queres es probar la implementacion del compiz en Elive (ecomorph), te recuerdo que solo te ira bien con tarjeta grafica Intel y/o nVidia, ya que esto esta todavia en pruebas. Como dijo alguien por ahi, “sumarle compiz al trabajo anterior, suena como una orgía romana de eye candy“.

Elive anuncia ser una distribucion bastante popular, que si bien no trae consigo los tradicionales entornos de escritorio como KDE o GNOME, apunta a popularizar Enlightenment y le da poder a lo que nos puede parece un manejador de ventanas bastante limitado.

Muy bueno por Elive, muy bueno por Enlightenment. GNU/Linux won’t stop rockin’ ever!!

Thanatermesis , el activo desarrollador que esta detras de una buena parte de Elive, libero a principios de este año algo que muchos de los usuarios de Elive deseabamos… Elive con compiz!

Debido a que el autor de este blog ya tiene en su lista de pruebas otras 4 distros, todavía no he podido probar el nuevo release, sin embargo se ve bastante interesante y sobre todo, Elive siempre se ha distinguido por su Muy pulido entorno grafico, sumarle compiz al trabajo anterior, suena como una orgía romana de eye candy.

A eso, agreguemosle que este release lo puede bajar cualquier (atención a todos los que querían probar Elive, esta es una buena oportunidad) y suena tentador verdad?

Hace mucho tiempo que tenia conocimiento de la existencia del proyecto Enlightenment, pero nunca le dí el tiempo suficiente ni la importancia necesaria para poder saber realmente lo bueno que es.

¿Qué es Enlightenment?

Un administrador de ventanas, un ambiente de escritorio, un no-Gnome y no-KDE.

Como Gnome y KDE son los window manager más conocidos para las distribuciones de Linux, bueno tambien está XFCE, Enlightenment nunca ha podido ser tan popular y solo ha sido parte de distribuciones menos conocidas, ahora ultimo está con OpenGEU que está basada en Ubuntu, aunque la más conocida es Elive que es la mostrada en el video, basada en Debian y con Elightenment como window manager.

Se espera que proximamente salga la esperada versión final y oficial DR17 de Enlightenment, pero pueden bajar la DR16 o los SVN de la DR17.

Bueno… despues de casi una semana de estar usando esta bonita distro al fin me han salido dos o tres errores relacionados con ecomorph. Sin embargo, si no fuese por ecomorph creo que se puede decir que la distro se comporta bien. Hemos de tomar en cuenta que es una implementacion del compiz que esta en fase de prueba.

Como se trata de una distro basada directamente en Debian (nunca habia probado ningun Debian), se me hace extranho algun comportamiento… como por ejemplo el que a apt se le escapen las dependencias que al apt de Ubuntu no se le escapan. Cuando instalo Texmaker no me marca los paquetes de LaTeX, cosa que si sucede en Ubuntu. Pero bien.

eLive usa Iceweasel como navegador web por defecto, Abiword como editor de texto enriquecido, Gnumeric como hoja de calculo, por mencionar algunas aplicaciones.

Tiene muchos recursos para embellecer el escritorio, tantos que para muchos puede parecer demasiados o que al cabo terminan abultando un escritorio tan bueno y liviano como el de Enlightenment 17. Es llamativo el hecho que todo lo que es temas, iconos animados, fondos de pantalla y temas globales de escritorio e17 los convierte a un formato .edj, que incluye el eyecandy respectivo con un archivo de configuracion escrito en Perl.

Creando/editando themes

Muestra de ello es el fondo que estoy usando ahora y que tiene el logo de Debian girando sobre su eje vertical. Este lo edite de uno que me encontre por ahi. Para editar y crear los diferentes temas (backgrounds, themes, animated icons), se hace necesario tener instalado Edje Editor. Si usas Enlightenment 17 desde un Debian solo hace falta instalarlo asi:

apt-get install edje-editor

Luego de alguna prueba/error logre crear y modificar algunos temas. Por otro lado, si quieres hacerlo de la manera geek, sin instalar Edje Editor, te la tendras que ver con la terminal… claro, luego de haber retocado tus archivos fuente desde Gimp.

Para decompilar un archivo .edj

edjc_decc archivo.edj

eso descomprimira el contenido del archivo y dejara estos en un nuevo directorio con el nombre del archivo .edj; por ende tendras todo los archivos que tengan que ver con el theme, un archivo .edc (que es el que tendras que editar en caso de que quieras cambiar algo) y algo llamado buid.sh, que es el scrip que te va a generar o compilar el theme final.

Lo podes hacer tambien compilando el archivo .edc de esta manera

edje_cc archivo.edc archivo.edj

el comando tomara en cuenta las rutas relativas que hacen referencia al contenido (imagenes, iconos, fuentes, etc) y las empacara en tu theme final.

Por mi parte recomiendo esta ultima forma, por cuanto Edje Editor no te indica que pasos a seguir para crear o editar un theme, mientras que descompilando/compilando te daras cuenta de que se trata todo el rollo del contenido en un archivo edje.

Sigo pensando que no soy tan buen profesor, por eso, si tienen alguna duda, pues comentenlo o simplemente hagan la pregunta. Saludos.

Debian y enlightenment DR17 hacen un muy buen dúo. Estabilidad y ligereza, añádele un sistema Live y tienes todo lo que necesitas si te gustan los entornos simples, ligeros, portátiles y atractivos.

Eso es lo que han integrado en elive y para muestra, un buen vídeo:

¿No te bastó?, ¿quieres un escritorio más impresionante?, estos de elive han pensado en todo. Incluyendo una versión modificada de compiz y un también modificado enlightenment, ahora nos sorprenden con una versión de ¡¿Enlightenment + compiz?!. Sí, aún enlightenment puede llegar a ser más atractivo (y pesado, claro está XD).

Es la ultima distro GNU/Linux que estoy testeando. Como tengo mucha informacion que respaldar en ambos equipos, no me he dado a la tarea de instalarla. Pero probando el Live CD veo que es bastante responsable, tratandose de que es basada en Debian, que corre con 64 Mb minimos de RAM, que trae Enlightenment 17 como gestor de ventanas y, en particular esta version, una implementacion de compiz que hace posible su funcionamiento en e17.

Como dije, el compiz en una implementacion especial que hacen llamar ecomorph. Se trata de una implemetacion en desarrollo que anuncian es bastante inestable.

Elive E17 es quizás una de las distros mas impresionantes debido a la gran cantidad de eye-candy que tiene. Pero ¿qué pasa cuando la unimos  a Compiz? Esto es lo que pasa:

Lo más interesante de todo es que Enlightment está diseñado para correr en ordenadores que son viejos y no necesita demasiados recursos. Yo personalmente deseo probarlo en una máquina con una Nvidia MX440 y con tan solo 128mb de Ram. En Softpedia lo probaron con 512 MB de RAM y una Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 y corrió de maravilla.
