Attention Attention, HugeAss post à l’horizon !

Depuis mon dernier post qui était ma foi très moyen, j’ai été agréablement surpris par mes nouvelles trouvailles. Ma playlist November Wonder se révèle être bien meilleure que je le pensais.

Donc, voici 3 albums que j’ai fort appréciés durant les semaines passées:

NUMERO UNO : Elm – Nemcatacoa. Classé en tant qu’électronique dans mon iTunes, j’ajouterais les termes instrumental et ambience à cet album qui me sort de la réalité, de l’”ordinaire” quotidien. En marchant vers chez moi hier soir à 2h00 du mat, cette musique dans les oreilles, j’avais l’impression que la nature morte de la fin de l’automne prenait vie. Un peu lugubre, mais tellement agréable pour relaxer. Un style que je ne cesserai d’aimer.

Elm – Nemcatacoa

SECUNDO : Un groupe qui, à la première écoute, m’a beaucoup fait pensé à Postal Service. Doux et agréable, leur album Self Titled Letting Up Despite Great Faults est excellent. Il me semble que la vie devient facile et simple quand j’écoute cet album. J’oublie les petits stress de la vie et tout est beau dans le meilleur des mondes. I’d give it a try if I was you.

EL FINAL : Quelque chose de plutôt acoustique, une voix douce, mais parfois surprenante et de la musique berçante et magnifique. Mountain Man m’a beaucoup surpris avec encore une fois un album Self Titled. Tout semble magique dans cet album. Ce style indie chanté par trois filles aux voix magnifiques est sans aucun doute un petit bonbon pour les oreilles délicates.

That’s about it. Prenez le temps de bien écouter ces albums, je pense qu’ils en valent fort la peine.

Trois excellents disques légèrement cold, chacun dans son genre, ou presque. Le premier est dû à un groupe anglais dont il s’agit là du premier album, sorti par Desire, nouveau label fondé par Jérôme Mestre (ancien Rough Trade Paris, qui avait fondé le label Artefact et actuel rédacteur en chef du site Fairtilizer). Project:Komakino évoque en creux le son des groupes de Factory, de la première période, entre Joy Division et Section 25, avec une rythmique froide et acérée, un chant caverneux qui semble surgir d’entrailles désarticulées, démontées et recomposées. Les morceaux jouent sur une rigidité formelle comme pour mieux se dévoiler engagés, habités par une conviction, au moins musicale, qui dépasse le pastiche ou l’hommage. Le groupe cite Malevetich sur sa pochette et l’on n’avait plus croisé ce genre de référence depuis une vingtaine d’années : comme retrouver un ami disparu avec lequel on a toujours beaucoup à échanger. L’album est complété par quatre remixes qui jouent sur la corde sensible, prolongent les atmosphères délétères (notamment le mix d’Age of Satisfaction par Motorama) ou mènent la musique ailleurs comme le fait E-Gold. Tout aussi chargé de réminiscences, le triple CD de Leyland Kirby (connu aussi sous le nom de The Caretaker), Sadly The Future Is No Longer With Us, est un étrange ouvrage difficile à assimiler d’une traite. Longues plages faussement monochromes, mêlant échos de piano, réminiscences vocales, drones planants. Plusieurs références surgissent, comme pour tenter de comprendre le cheminement de cette musique, mais c’est sans doute la pochette qui fournit les meilleures clés : elle représente une caisse en bois, typique de celles qui servent à transporter des tableaux. A l’intérieur de la pochette, trois CD sont rangés chacun dans une pochette représentant une toile, recto-verso. Les signes ne trompent pas, la musique de Leyland Kirby se veut contemplative à la manière d’un tableau devant lequel il faut passer du temps, se plonger entièrement. La musique d’Elm, alias la moitié du groupe Barn Owl, est moins cérébrale, mais tout aussi bourdonnante et planante. Là où Kirby semble construire sa musique à partir d’un ordinateur, Elm fait l’inverse et joue de plusieurs instruments filtrés dont une guitare évoquant, lorsqu’elle s’électrifie, celle de Stephen O’Malley. Les dessins de la pochette, là encore, donnent des indices : signés Katie Boyles, ils sont raffinés et mystérieusement organiques. Elm, dit-on, fait de la musique du désert. Disons plutôt qu’il fait une musique pour cerveaux et coeurs désertés, au bout  d’un chemin froid.

So, many of you are already aware of the competition for snowboarders and skiiers South Shore Fitted put on last year in October, South Town Throw Down. This year the competition is BIGGER and BETTER than ever!

 On Saturday November 21st, the 2nd Annual South Town Throw Down will take place at Super 8 Hotel and Mo’s Place, right off HWY 50 and Lake Tahoe Blvd. This is an OPEN competition to show off your best trick as a snowboarder or skiier! The South Shore Fitted’s Snowboarding Team and The South Shore Fitted Ski Team will have their own battle to see who can throw down the best trick as well as our professional guests!

The 2nd Annual South Town Throw Down of 2009 will feature a structure built by Oncourse Events consisting of two ledges and a double down 8 inch flat bar handrail!

If you live in the South Lake Tahoe area or know you will be in town during this event and would like to compete, please contact South Shore Fitted directly at (530)542-3481.

This competition is OPEN to 16 years old and older, anyone under 18 years of age will need a parent to come in and sign a waiver form.

Die Südafrika-Partnerschaftstagung des ELM findet in diesem Jahr vom 13. bis 15. November in Hermannsburg statt. Thema ist diesmal: “Taktische Foul oder Fair Play: Frieden und Gewalt überwinden als Herausforderung an Partnerschaftsarbeit vor Ort”.

The Swedish Lutheran Mission or as it´s called in Sweden , ELM, is working in Nakuru with a Street Children Project. They do walks around the town every Friday, talk to the children they meet and try to motivate them to change their lives. Some of the boys are offered a place at their children’s home, Bethesda. Their target group is boys between the age of 7 – 14 and it´s certainly not an easy job. It´s hard to motivate the boys and keep them away from drugs and the street and there are so many.

Its estimated to be around 150 000 children I Kenya living in the streets and in Nakuru only about 3000. Whenever you walk the streets of Nakuru you meet street children who will say; “ I am hungry” and point at their stomach. It´s truly heartbreaking and it´s really hard just to ignore this children but on the other hand it´s impossible and probably wrong to give them money. There are so many and the money will most probably be used for glue, not food..

Åsa, Sandra and me asked if we could join them for the Friday walk and it was an interesting but shocking experience.

 Many of they boys, and some girls, are orphans or have been mistreated in various ways and left home. The literally sleep in the gutter and eat garbage.

 Virtually all are addicted to glue which obviously gives them some kind of relief but also destroys their minds and bodies.

A special case, Peter, caught our attention. He is suffering from Epilepsy and his face was covered with open wounds. He gets them when he falls and hit the head on the stones on the street.

As a nurse Åsa was shocked and decided to help him. He was obviously on medicine but he had only 2 pills left. Åsa decided to meet him on Monday and take him to a hospital.

 Peter is 22 y.o and there is a problem with boys over the age of 14. After that age they are not considered children anymore and they belong to the adult education system. It seems that there are very few organizations that targets these children.

On Monday she and Bosire couldn’t find him but after almost an hour looking for him they found him in the gutter with a Grand Male attack.

It took another hour to get a taxi and get the poor boy who was still having his attack inside the taxi.

When I met Åsa afterwards she was sad and upset not only because of the boy but also because of the treatment at the hospital. They put the boy in an dirty old bed and they didn’t even remove his clothes that of course was dirty and in a mess as a result of the attack. They didn’t admit him until Åsa paid and she had to run to a pharmacy to get the medicine.

 He would most likely have died in the gutter if it wasn’t for Åsa.

 I know Kenya is a poor country and I realize that the health care resources are limited but treating people with dignity and respect doesn’t cost anything but empathy, which seemed to be a scarce resource at this particular hospital. I am sure there are other hospitals and doctors with a more human approach.

 The children are also invited to visit the church, The Elck Pangani Church, on Sundays where they can wash themselves and their clothes. They get lunch and of course they have the possibility of attending the Sunday Sermon.

We went there to have a look and we also attended the Sunday Sermon. Lot´s of singing by the Bethesda Boys Choir as well as the church choir and the sermon was performed by Gwako who is studying to become a pastor.

The theme was Bethesda, when Jesus helps the lame man to the bath and the miracle is performed. Gwako tells the congregation about Jesus as the Doctor among Doctor´s and the importance of relying to him for all sorts of illnesses. Since I am not a believer and especially after the event with Peter I suppose I rather trust conventional medical expertise. If it wasn’t for Åsa and of course the treatment inhuman as it was Peter would not have survived.

One of the boys visiting the sermon. Its amazing the way they dress here. It was a sunny and warm Sunday and he is dressed for Swedish winter.

Anyway it was quite interesting to do the Friday walk as well as visiting the church and I think Lina, Sofia (her college ) and all the others are doing a great job.

Mimulus

During entire period of pregnancy, Mimulus can be used, for there will be a scan every three months. Fear of scan; fear of being reported thyroid problem; “What if the doctor says something bad about the position of foetus?” These fearful thoughts can be healed by Mimulus.

The fortune part is Mimulus can minimise any expenditure. Normal delivery will cost less than caesarean delivery. In other words, Mimulus throughout pregnancy will pave for normal delivery!

Wherever there is specific fear, Mimulus has to be there to help you.

Red Chestnut

During development of foetus, the mother will worry, “Will my child’s brain will be well developed? Will its health be good? Will the child be without any problem?” Through out pregnancy Red Chestnut has to be given.

Rescue Remedy

At the time of delivery, pain is intensive. The pregnant women can chant Rescue Remedy. Others close to her have to take Rescue Remedy and Red Chestnut. Write the name of the patient and circle it with Rescue Remedy, as because pregnant women can’t chant it, for pain will be too much then. Be sure the delivery will be normal and smooth.

Agrimony

During 8th month of pregnancy, the lady will be affected by restless leg syndrome. Agrimony and Impatiens can heal it.

Scleranthus

It’s a good remedy for nausea and vomiting, especially during the 3rd month. 9th month starting, the doctor will fix up the date for delivery. As the date gets near we get impatient (Impatiens). Scleranthus person will postpone, while an Impatiens would like to have the delivery immediately. Therefore, Scleranthus and Impatiens is a good combination during the last stages of pregnancy, to have the delivery on time.

Cerato and Chestnut Bud

To beget intelligent children, to make sure the IQ of the child is good, flower remedies is the best choice. One can listen to the Bach Flower Meditation CD by Naran S Balakumar.

Walnut

During entire period of pregnancy every month is a transition. Therefore, Walnut is the remedy.

Harmony at Home

If during pregnancy, peaceful harmonious atmosphere is to be there at home, for which Beech Willow, Agrimony, and Cherry Plum can be helpful.

Special Remedies for Pregnancy

Let Eshwar Protect

This is a combination to be given throughout the pregnancy: Elm, Sweet Chestnut, Hornbeam, Walnut, Aspen and Red chestnut.

Elm: Person has to manage oneself. It expands the mental ability and physical vitality of the mother. Sweet Chestnut: for the divine grace if a child has to be born safely. Hornbeam: continuous movement; Walnut: for transition. Aspen whatever unknown fear one has. Most of the time, the pregnant woman can not figure out the fear. Red Chestnut: concern for the growing baby.

The first letter of each of the remedies if coined together will form the name, ‘ESHWAR’. If there is a grace of Eshwar – Lord Siva, everything will go on well.

Fifth Month of Pregnancy

Chicory: foetus will start feeling the touch of the mother at the end of the 5th month. Either you can chant all the flower names or listen to Bach Flower Remedy meditation CD. As per Ayurveda, mind starts developing from 5th month of pregnancy. Thanks to flowers, the mind of children will develop well and will be able to understand better. In addition, so many mental faculties will develop better in the child.

Sixth Month of Pregnancy

IQ and brain development: Oak, Chestnut Bud, Cerato, Hornbeam, Walnut and Clematis. For 5 minutes, chant the remedies and keep the hands on the belly (womb). This will help in both right and left brain development and the child will be highly intelligent.

From the 8th month onwards

Add Gentian and Hornbeam to the above combination. Add gentian to combination so that there is no regression in the foetus. Around 8th month, the mother will not be able to sleep properly and will be tossing in the bed – Scleranthus is the remedy. When dates are announced, Scleranthus and Impatiens. Whenever the pregnant women go for checkups, Mimulus has to be given. For easy and natural delivery: bio-26 – this Bio salt is available in homeopathy shops. From the 4^th month onwards, four tablets, three times a day.

Ninth Month

The mother-to-be is admitted in the hospital. Pain will increase. Give her Rescue Remedy. As her parents can’t bear their daughter cry, give them Rescue Remedy with Red Chestnut.

After Delivery

White Chestnut and Walnut has to be given to the mother. 1^st or 2^nd day breast feeding will be difficult – Elm and Chestnut Bud. After the delivery, in the bathing water, add Walnut and Star of Bethlehem (need not be given orally to child) or you can chant them to baby’s ears. After 15 days, it can be given orally. For child and mother, if there is fluid in the ear, give them Heather and Crab Apple.

Vi är ense om äppelkakan är mycket god. En riktig snabbkaka – ni hinner i pausen. Görs på spisen.

Det här behövs: 3 röda äpplen, 2 ägg, 75 g smör, 1 3/4 dl strösocker, 2 tsk vaniljsocker, 1 dl vetemjöl, 1 dl havrekli eller havregreyn, 2 msk + 2 msk råsocker, 2 tsk malen kardemumma 

• Gör så här: Ta ut kärnhuset på äpplena. Skiva tunt.
• Smält smöret i en nonstick panna med lock.
• Vispa ägg och strösocker vitt och pösigt. Rör i vaniljsocker, vetemjöl, havrekli och ½ dl smält smör.
• Hetta upp stekpannan (högsta effekt) med resten av smöret och 2 msk råsocker. Lägg i äppelskivorna. Strö över kardemumma och 2 msk råsocker.
• Häll på sockerkaksmeten. Lägg på lock och sänk till 1/3 effekt.
• Grädda i 20 minuter tills kakan är torr och släppt längs kanterna.
• Låt vila utan lock i 5 minuter. Stjälp upp så det blir den “up side down cake” det är. 
• Njut och hoppas på svensk seger…Du har i alla fall varit klimatsmart.
• Och det ska inte var något bakpulver i kakan.

Det kanske bli seger ändå. Jag tror på Elm, Berg och framtiden…
