Kennisnet ging op bezoek bij PI-school de Strandwacht in Den Haag (cluster 4) en maakte opnames over het gebruik van hun ELO. De video staat nu online. Op de website ook een verwijzing naar een voorbeelddocument van een Beleidsplan Electronische LeerlingOmgeving.  In 2010 willen we nog enkele scholen voor speciaal onderwijs bezoeken. Suggesties voor meer goede voorbeelden van ict-gebruik in het speciaal onderwijs zijn dus welkom!

Em Como Se Fosse a Primeira vez (50 First Dates), Henry Roth, interpretado por Adam Sandler, é um solteirão que não quer assumir compromissos. Vive no Havaí, onde trabalha como veterinário, em um aquário, cuidando de morsas e outros seres marinhos, e é famoso pelo grande número de turistas que conquista – sua maior especialidade é mentir para conhecer as mulheres que visitam a região e sumir da vida delas quando as férias chegam ao fim.

Mas sua vida muda completamente quando encontra Lucy (Drew Barrymore) no café local. Henry logo percebe que não está diante de apenas mais uma missão de seduzir e abandonar: primeiro, porque ela não é turista; e segundo, porque Henry parece ter visto algo mais nela. A primeira abordagem é um sucesso – os waffles do café da manhã dela e as mãos dele cheirando a peixe se tornam o elo da conversa -, mas no dia seguinte a jovem moça age como se nunca o tivesse visto antes.

Logo Henry descobre que Lucy sofreu um grave acidente que tirou sua memória de curta duração, ou seja, ela se esquece dos fatos recentes durante a noite e passa a viver sempre o mesmo dia. Dessa forma, ignorando sua própria regra de não namorar garotas da cidade e esquecendo o seu lado Don Juan, Henry sente-se apaixonado e percebe que será obrigado a conquistar Lucy, dia após dia, para ficar ao seu lado. E para isso, não mede esforços e vive muitas loucuras.

Mas nem tudo sai como planejado. O jovem veterinário tem o sonho de navegar para o Alasca para estudar a vida submarina das morsas, mas com as conquistas diárias, precisa abandonar o seu plano. Lucy, percebendo o esforço de seu ‘namorado’, resolve acabar o relacionamento com o rapaz. Apaga-o de seus diários e passa a viver como se ele nunca tivesse aparecido em sua vida.

Dessa forma, Henry pode viajar (mesmo com o coração partido) e Lucy passa a ensinar arte – sua profissão antes do acidente que a deixou sem memória – na clínica médica que recebe tratamento. Só que o amor acaba sendo mais forte e os dois vão descobrir isso, de alguma maneira.

O final do filme, obviamente, emociona os mais românticos e mostra que o amor – independente de todos os problemas – consegue sobreviver quando é realmente verdadeiro. Pode ser clichê sim, mas este longa-metragem tem muitos aspectos positivos. Reúne dois ótimos atores (Drew Barrymore e Adam Sandler), tem bons diálogos (ingrediente essencial para o gênero comédia-romântica) e participações bem especiais, como no caso de Rob Schneider, no papel de um velho havaiano muito bobo e, às vezes, engraçado.

Para encerrar, há dois personagens fofíssimos: o pingüim e a morsa. Um mais engraçado que o outro… A-DO-RO!

Tão eficaz quanto o aço. Ás vezes fico cansado de ficar postando as campanhas da Colgate por aqui. Mas confesso que eles sempre conseguem nos deixar de boca aberta com suas ousadias e pretensões. Mas que as campanhas são boas isso não dá para negar.

Depois de uma semana sem postar nada, aqui estou – não sei até quando – assunto e tempo tenho de sobra, mas ultimamente tenho ficado desanimado com o blog, sem ânimo, sem vontade… até mesmo quando viajo nunca passei tanto tempo sem postar. Talvez seja uma fase que passe logo, ou não passe mais… O que ainda me mantém aqui são os leitores que a cada dia aumenta mais. Então a eles mais uma vez muito obrigado.

With tomorrow off for a mid-week Veteran’s Day break, the 149th has officially completed 1/2 of the A-100 orientation course.  Never have I felt more taxed by an 8:30 to 4:30ish schedule.  I confess to not quite understanding why it’s has been so tiring, but I’m confident I’m not alone.  Perhaps I am just out-of-practice.  I haven’t been in a regular classroom setting since the first half of 1992 (and let’s face it, the last semester of law school did not involve that much classroom time).

Each day has had a completely different schedule so the time definitely doesn’t crawl.  After announcements and a quick overview of the day’s agenda at 8:30 sharp, we typically cover 2 or 3 topics before lunch, and then another 2 or 3 topics in the afternoon.  Often we will have 15 minutes to grab something to eat before a “brown bag” lunch discussion with a visiting dignitary.

The class segments cover a wide range of issues, from procedural (e.g., how to submit travel and per diem vouchers) to substantive (e.g., 18th and 19th century diplomatic history).  With very few exceptions, the segments have been interesting and well-presented by an energetic staff.  In addition to the orientation staff, we hear from an ever-changing cast of guest speakers including Ambassadors, Assistant Secretaries, specialists, and historians.

It’s been great stuff, but a lot of sitting and listening in an exceedingly crowded room.  With the diplomatic hiring surge, the limitation for our class size does not come from the State Department budget or a dearth of qualified candidates.  Rather, it’s the room’s fire code restriction that limits the number of new officers.

I find myself taking notes for no reason other than to force myself to stay 100% engaged.  Although there are no tests or quizzes, note-taking precludes my mind from wandering to my bid list, what my kids are doing, or what I should do for dinner.  By the end of the day, I’m done.  That is, until it’s time to meet everyone at a bar for happy hour, or some other event.  I’ve hit about half of the social committee’s events so far, typically those on a Friday night and/or close by my apartment.

The 149th is an impressive group and I’m looking forward to hearing about everyone’s exploits for years to come.  In the meantime, we are counting the days until Flag Day on Nov. 23rd.

Unbeknownst to some of you who only know me through this blog, in recent months I’ve been inspired by my love of movies to share my strange cinematic taste with friends, family and passersby.    The tradition has been established, and I thought I’d share it with you, loyal readers, and invite you all to be there in spirit, if not in person on Friday, November 20th at Club Awesome (aka my house, email me for info if you think you can make it!)

And yes, by request from an out of town friend who couldn’t make it last time, there will be a “here in spirit” message wall at the party where all snarky comments, congratulations and contributions will be displayed for our guests!

So what exactly will be on the movie menu?  Here’s the description I wrote for the invitation:

A place, where nobody dared to go - the love that we've come to know - they call it XANADU!

We’re going back to a simpler time before cellphones and the Internet, when Regan was in office and legs were very warm…in our first feature, the legwarmers are sported by Olivia Newton-John as she inspires an artist and a musician to build a roller disco palace called *’Xanadu’*! Will she give up her career as a Muse to be with the man she loves even though he wears vests and pulls his jeans up too high? Watch and find out!

The legwarmers in our second feature are sported by a still to become a jowly Scientologist John Travolta in *’Stayin’ Alive’*, the little known (and hardly watched) sequel to ‘Saturday Night Fever’. Our hero Tony Manero has given up the disco lifestyle and traded in his white suit for a tight spandex leotard and a headband. Will Tony get the lead in the Broadway show? Will he tame the diva and bend her to his will? Will you die laughing when you see his outfit in the big ‘finale’? Come to movie night and find out!
OK, now tell me that although y’all live in faraway places, you’ll do your best to roller disco yourselves to New Jersey and join in the fun!

Uno li guarda e pensa a una serata Mukkassassina. Uno li ascolta e scopre delle belle canzoni. L’immagine li frega, certo. Ma anche no. Perché questo non prendersi sul serio è la loro forza.
C’è Elton John, fra le loro canzoni, tanto Elton John. E mi ricordano a tratti l’Electric Light Orchestra più pop e meno prog. Ma sì che c’è, solo che c’è tanta ironia da queste parti. Sono glam, sono divertenti, vien voglia di ballare sui loro pezzi. Sono fuori dal tempo. Sembrano saltare fuori direttamente dalla fine dagli anni Settanta, ma sono anche straordinariamente contemporanei. E hanno dei bei suoni, anche.
Poi ci sono i gioielli. In mezzo ai pezzi più dance, sanno infilare alcune perle. Nel primo album ce n’erano almeno tre, Laura era uno di questi, quasi un blues glam. Bellissima.

La posizione sessuale è nota come tribadismo, anche. Giusto per non lasciar spazio al non detto.

Sia vs. ELO – Day Too Soon To Bring Me Down

Hade ju med Sia och låten Day Too Soon nyligen och i det inlägget så noterade jag även hur jag associerade den låten med ELO’s Don’t Bring Me Down. Så idag efter att jag gått en liten söndagspromenad satt jag mig ner och pulade ihop en liten mashup av de båda låtarna. Hade kunnat gjort mycket mer finlir men har inte riktigt orken i kroppen att sitta så länge som jag skulle önska.

Men jag är ändå rätt så nöjd med resultatet med tanke på att det bara tog en dryg timme att snickra ihop från remix av låtarna till färdigt klipp på YouTube. För den som undrar vad jag använder för program till redigeringen så är det Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0 och Acid Music Studio 7.0. Sound Forge för att klippa till alla ljudsnuttar som används och sen använder jag Acid för själva mixningen. Sound Forge kostar lite drygt 48 Euro och Acid kostar lika mycket så för under en tusenlapp har men ett riktigt bra kit för remixning och musikproduktion i datorn.

Finns säkert andra lösningar som är ännu smartare men jag är så inkörd på Sound Forge och Acid så nu skulle jag nog ha svårt att byta. Det jag använder programmen mest till är rena mixar där man mixar ihop ett gäng låtar till exempelvis en timmes mix helt enkelt. Ungefär som när man mixade blandband en gång i tiden.
