<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-25993" title="women-500-2" src="http://repeatingislands.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/women-500-2.jpg?w=364&#038;h=278" alt="" width="364" height="278" />Sponsored by the Women’s Studies Program at Casa de las Américas, the International Symposium on “Women and Emancipation of Latin America and the Caribbean in the 19th and 20th Centuries” will be held from February 21 to 25, 2011, in Havana.</p>
<p>Now in its eighteenth edition, the symposium addresses an ever current set of themes: gender and history; women in Latin American and Caribbean emancipation struggles from the historical perspective; women’s testimonial work and all types of textual and artistic production produced in the midst of/around these struggles; as well as literary and artistic representations of female participation in emancipation movements.</p>
