The Westchester Institute for Ethics & the Human Person, NY, USA, has produced a white paper in 2008 that makes the scientific case. “Advances in the study of human embryology have sharpened our focus to an increasingly narrow developmental time-frame immediately following the fusion of sperm and egg—and prior to the first cell division (an approximately 24 hour period also referred to as the first cell cycle). The point at which fertilization ends and embryonic development commences is commonly placed at “syngamy,” the time when the membranes surrounding the nuclei derived from the sperm and the egg break down in preparation for the first cell division.”
The NHMRC of Australia uses a biologically observable feature (first mitotic division) to anchor their definition for an embryo created for reproductive purposes, thereby clarifying what is and is not a human embryo in ways that can be verified, as opposed to using syngamy which is not as easily observable.
In othewords sygamy produces the full set of chromosomes required for a human being to develop. Prior to this it could be said that the conception is still separate parts of the female ova and male sperm and not a new human.
Most women would not know they are carrying a new human at that stage and it is thought many embryos do become unviable and miscarry very early in development, unknown to the mother.
However the issue of how we view the new life goes as much to how we view the act of sexual intercourse and the ‘other’. The spiritual journey is about increasing our bonds with life. This doen’t mean that physical life is absolutely important but that we strive to make the creation of life a sacred motion, while every dimnution of life is chosen through the most mindful process we can apply.
The horns of dilemma that we are trying to address relates more to the use and cloning of pre-mitotic fertilised cell which will ‘kill’ the cell, for the purposes of finding cures for born humans and yet to be conceived embryos that hold dysfunctional genetic processes. The advancement of humanity may, in part, be determined by how well we perch on these horns.

So… we decided to wait until Monday for my next ultrasound. My regular doc, Dr. P, is in the OR tomorrow morning and I only want him to do this next scan. I just trust him…. He did send me an e-mail saying he also reviewed my records and thinks that the ‘lag’ is more like 4 or 5 days and not a week. He seemed to think that this might not be significant and by waiting until Monday, we would be able to get more information on whether this ‘lag’ is something serious or not. Tonight, I am almost wishing that we were going in the morning…. I just want to know. But I also want the best information we can get… and for that, I have to wait. I’m tired of waiting. I’m tired of waiting!!!

This segment of the Dr. Oz Show was all about epigenesis. I expected the show to be more scientific

This segment of the Dr. Oz Show was all about epigenesis. I expected the show to be more scientific, but epigenesis is really about how internal and external influences effect an embryo. What was discussed was what parents can do to prevent danger to the unborn child and what may help them. They also discussed many common myths.

An audience member asked, “How can I help influence my baby’s genes?”

Margaret L. McKenzie, MD stated,

“The first thing is you can limit your exposure to toxins. Plastics and soup cans actually contain BPA containing compounds. In animal studies we know that they can effect development of the brain and the reproductive system of fetuses.”

Some examples of products which may contain BPA are metal baby formula containers, canned foods (higher amounts found in canned pasta and soups), food containers, water bottles, sippy cups, baby bottles, food storage, pacifiers, sippy cups, toys, stainless steel bottles with plastic liners, and any No. 7 plastics. No. 1, 2 and 4 plastics are BPA free. Hot water and microwaves cause the BPA to leak out more. Glass and ceramics are the way to go.

Dr. McKenzie also stated, “”The next thing is mercury. Over 600,000 babies are born in the United States everyday with unsafe levels of mercury. And mercury is actually associated with development delays. So, we ask pregnant patients to limit your use of tuna to less than 6 oz. per week. And that can impact your baby.

“The third thing is you can limit your exposure to radiation. And the other way that you can help is limit your long distance flying because over time you can get exposure to radiation just from the sun.”

Dr. Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen had never heard about flying being a risk.

Dr. Roizen suggested that a pregnant woman should take a multi-vitamin, folic acid, iron, calcium, magnesium, and Vitamin D which is great for your immune system. Omega 3 fats are very important, which is your baby’s brain development and decreases your risk of depression and other mental disabilities during pregnancy and in life.

An audience member asked whether or not sex positions determine a baby’s gender.

A woman by the name of Jan explained, “Female sperm swim a little slower, but lives longer. Male sperm tend to be more vigorous, swim faster, but die out sooner. So that can be relavent in timing intercourse or actually when you are having sex. In terms of positions, the only thing that we as obstetricians tend to tell our patients is that if you want to maximize the chance to deposit a lot of sperm as close as possible to the cervix and then enter into the uterus is that you should kind of elevate your pelvis for 30 minutes after you have sex so that gravity works…There is just not much science behind it [positions determining the sex of your baby].”

Dr. Oz added that using timing as a method to influence your baby’s sex is also a myth.

Another question asked was, “Is it true that you can tell what sex the baby is by how you carry the baby?”

Dr. McKenzie explained that the tone of your abdominal wall and of the uterus determines how you carry the baby. The position your baby is in also determines the shape of your belly.

Another guest asked, “Is what you choose for your baby’s name have any indication on Does a baby’s name have any indication on their success in life?”

Dr. Roizen stated, “ “Yes.” (people laughed) He continued, “It is like your baby’s brand… Many Dennis’ become dentists and Art’s become architects.”

Gee, that could open a whole new discussion which would have to be addressed in a whole other post. Any comments?

It’s been a wonderful past week and half. We’ve purchased books about twins, twin pregn

It’s been a wonderful past week and half. We’ve purchased books about twins, twin pregnancy, preparing for twins… Our biggest disagreement has been about the type or types of strollers we might need: side to side, one in front of the other, one that we can use carseats in for infants, one that could last from infancy through toddlerhood…. who knew there were so many kinds?! We’ve painted the room that will be the nursery — a soft warm light brown called, “comfy cottage.” We decided on a teddy bear theme, that we would have two cribs – but initially use just one, that we might need to consider a larger vehicle. We started to tell just a few of our closer friends about our twin pregnancy. Nausea kicked in at times and I found that wearing ’sea bands,’ and having small bits of food handy to nibble on does seem to help a bit.

Yesterday morning we went for what was to be my last ultrasound at the specialist’s office. The other doctor in the practice saw me – Dr. M. He hadn’t reviewed my past ultrasound or records. He did the ultrasound and again we saw those two beautiful little flashing heartbeats. Dr. M updated measurements and calculated I was 7 weeks, 1 day along. Something didn’t seem right, but it took me time to figure it out. We were, at that time, ecstatic! We had decided on a new OBGYN and Dr. M said my records would be sent that afternoon. He recommended I start on iron supplements right away. No more progesterone! Continue with the B6, B12, prenatal, extra folic acid, and omega 3. We were smiles leaving and smiling through most the day!

Looking back on my earlier ultrasound from 11/19, I saw that I was measured to be 6 weeks, 1 day at that time. That was 12 days earlier. That meant that in 12 days, both babies were only showing one week of growth. I remembered Dr. P saying that I would be 8 weeks yesterday… that is different from the 7.1 measurements that were taken. How easily worry slides in and takes a strong grip. I e-mailed Dr. M for clarification. Maybe this is typical? Maybe sometimes babies go through a ’slow growth’ period?

Dr. M got back to me after reviewing my records and all the ultrasounds done so far. His conclusion was that I should be 8 weeks. He said that perhaps one of the measurements is ‘off’ – but he felt confident about his. He said that it can be okay if there is a growth lag of 3 or 4 days… but mine is almost a week off. His recommendation was that I come back in 7-10 days for another ultrasound… or come back on Friday if I can’t wait that long. I began to feel a different kind of sick. The kind of sick when it seems like the world is just sliding out from under me feet.

Yesterday, I hadn’t felt any nausea. I haven’t worn a sports bra to sleep for the past few nights because I just haven’t felt that sore. Are these signs? This morning I did feel sick again – is that good? I’m terrified of losing these babies. That would make 5 losses in 2 years. Too much about this time was good and has felt right. Is it wrong for me to doubt this now? I’m scared to naively believe all is going to be okay because the more I believe that, the more it will hurt when the bad news comes. But that is assuming that this is going downhill and my pregnancy is in jeopardy. I don’t know that. I’ve done everything, everything I can to help make this pregnancy successful. I want Friday to come quickly.

Something is really wrong that is for sure. She finds herself on the floor in the middle of the room

Something is really wrong that is for sure. She finds herself on the floor in the middle of the room. Her room being a fetal sac, a sanctuary for now. Later, the room will be a cage once again. All the while, doing all the stuff that she wanted to do, that she thought she could not do without, that she thought she could not stop. She stops them and she crumbles to the ground.

Doing them. Blindfolding herself and fondling herself and releasing all the power she can from her body. Hormones and painkillers. She jumps up and down and up and down and moves like a crazy football fanatic around the room, banging her head in the air, her hair whipping the objects around her, them falling as the hair knocks them off the table, the desk, the chair, the bed, the shelf. She jumps, she bangs her head and she releases endorphins. She cries. The estrogen pills are working now. She pops them in with her coffee in the morning, her tea at night. She stumbles to the ground after she stops. She stops and she is dizzy. She is dizzy and she falls, the world spiraling. She closes her eyes and the world keeps on spiraling. Something is wrong that is for sure.

In the middle of the room, the carpet holding her in the darkness, in her room, in her fetal sac. She is still a little girl, inexperienced. She still has a lot to offer. She still needs to shine. She wants her daddy or her mommy. She wants the girl with her in class. She wants the guy she trades shy looks with. She wants someone. Just anyone because all you need is someone to keep you awake and conscious of the fact that you are only human, nothing any bigger. She needs one but she has none. She was fondling herself.

She played tennis. She gave a scream with every hit. In retrospect everything becomes nice. In retrospect, we become nostalgic towards a funeral because even a funeral is a chance for us to be around people. Moments of reprieve. After tennis, in the girls locker room, in the shower room, while blood dripped between her legs, she on the ground again, blood flowing around her everywhere, as if coming from the showerhead, she would spiral in her own mind because the blood is a symbol of tennis’ failure and of her own failure as a human being. The rivers of blood always reached the sea of salty tears.

Her fetal sac: a tinge of protection from the darkness. When she was a kid she wanted to be the wind. Be as free as the wind. She wanted to go anywhere, to roam anywhere and to be everywhere. She wanted her soul and body to go to places her mind could never have imagined. But she bangs her head and she hits the sharp edge and the blood drips down her forehead and she falls to the ground spiraling round and round and round and there is no escape and there is no exit.

Handle with Care is the sign she came with, but her fragile body was broken because everyone let her fall. In the end it only needs one person to be there, one person to push us. One person to tell us that he loves us as he tears us apart. One person to tell us that there is no other way. One person to be so strong and stab us in the center of our hearts. One person close to us to make us feel utter regret for trusting something as vile as a human being. One person to push and shove and push and shove to let us fall in a place we do not want to be or see. One person to do all this and make us push ourselves away the next time we see him. One person. Some ONE! Someone there is no escape from. ONE! Someone who manifests our fear and our regret. ONE! Someone to make us feel so marginal, so redundant that we feel as if we’re going to fade like a sigh if we stay alive, if we breathe another fleeting breath without thinking about it a million times; inhaling and thinking about the next breath, inhaling as much air as we can, thinking about it so intensely, our next breath, our next step, we think about it just so it lasts as long as we hold our breath, and sometimes a little bit longer.

In her fetal sac, trying to get born again in the darkness that feels like freedom because it is all she feels. In her fetal sanctuary feeling warm, feeling secure for a moment, but then the fist knocks on the door, and she remembers the moments that spanned into years when she could not move, could not think straight, could not get up in the morning without a feeling of nausea. The fists tell her that something is definitely wrong. She just needs to feel it, to breathe it so she can know she is alive, but she needs time. The fists knock on the door of her fetal sanctuary. Come out! Come out! They shout at her from the outside. These fists, this reality. Her blood is on the floor, and her fetal sac is now shattered and torn. Prematurely she is forced out to get pushed and shoved, to be in a place she does not want to see, a place she does not want to be in. Her room, her sanctuary, her reality becomes a prison.

But why is she a girl if she is me? A boy. Is it because I feel weak? Or perhaps just slightly thrown back by the massive demands of everything around me? Or maybe, just maybe, it doesn’t matter if I’m a girl or boy or a hermaphrodite. Maybe it doesn’t matter because this is all universal and absolute. Boy or Girl, we’re exposed too early and fucked intensely.

Probably the most famous question among the child and the adolescence because they’d frequently asked the question “Where do babies come from?” when they spot a newborn baby somewhere else and parents’d not tell them the exact procedure in the process of a baby by means of elaborating male and female sleeps together then a baby would simultaneously spawn in front of them. And that’s child’s play. This idea is taken by the game of The Sims.

Lets get in-dept onto the subject of biology shall we? We all know that when a couple is copulating (sexual intercourse) and sperm would usually ejaculate or “Cum” into the vagina of a female. During copulation in humans, about 500 millions sperms are ejaculated into the vagina yet only 1 sperm can be successfully penetrated the ovum’s membrane then the ovum’d create a jelly-like membrane to prevent other’s sperm from penetrating and then the whole whole fertilization start its engine from the beginning of ovulation till the implantation stage. The oviduct produces ovum once in every 28 days which it occur in the ovulation stage whereby it had to go through a process called Oogenesis ( oogonia formation ) elsewhere the sperms go through the same process called spermatogenesis ( spermatozoa formation ).

As I were saying, the spermatozoa travels along the cervix and towards the fallopian tube ( this is where sperms had their first encounter with the ovum itself ) then the fertilization begins. Approximately 36 hours after fertilization, the resultant zygote begins to divide repeatedly by mitosis ( cell division ) as it travels along the fallopian tube towards the uterus. The first division forms a two-celled embryo. Further divisions results in the formation of a solid mass of cells known as a morula. By the fifth day, the morula is a ball of bout 100 cells known as a blastocyst or blastula (a fluid-filled sphere consisting of an outer layer of cells and a group of cells inside the sphere). The developing embryo has reached the uterus with the help of the cilia in the fallopian tube. Seven days after fertilization, the blastocyst attaches itself to the endometrium. This process is known as implantation. The blastocyst with its inner cell mass becomes firmly embedded in the endometrium. An embryo will be developed in the first 8 weeks from the second month of development until birth, it is called a fetus. The fetus is enclosed in a membrane called amnion where it’ll excrete amniotic fluid to protects the fetus by absorbing shock and cushioning it from any physical damage.

If a couple is having difficulties of possessing a baby which it is called infertility. There are several reasons of this cause:

i) Blocked fallopian tubes

ii) Failure of an embryo to exert the process of implantation.

iii) The inability to produce ova

iv) Blocked vas deferen ( sperm duct )

There’re difference ways to overcome the infertility such as (IVF) which stand for In vitro fertilization, the In vitro means outside the organic body. Hence, IVF means the fertilization of a human egg outside the body. This method is used to make test tube babies like you’d seen in Star Wars – The Clone Wars. The test tube contains a nutrient-rich medium for the baby to grow in time.

Another method is that you have visit your local hospital to get yourself a surrogate mother where you need to transfer your spermatozoa and your wife’s oogonia to the surrogate mother’s uterus. The surrogate mother then becomes pregnant and the fetus develops in her uterus until birth.

*Edit* ~ Here’s a video that shows how does a baby come out from the womb.

Story from Life Site News. Excerpt: Lakehead University Life Support (LULS), the Canadian campus pro

Story from Life Site News.

Excerpt:

Lakehead University Life Support (LULS), the Canadian campus pro-life club that recently lost its hard-won club status, is facing harsh opposition from board members of the Student Union (LUSU) – one of whom has compared the group to the murderer of late-term abortionist George Tiller – as the club seeks to regain its status.

The student union voted 7-6 on October 29th in favor of denying the pro-life group club status. The club had only won its status in February after fighting for two years to gain it.

On November 6th, LUSU Vice President of Finance Josh Kolic released a statement in which he called the effort to overturn the union’s decision an attempt to ‘hijack’ the democratic process. He went on, further, to claim that the pro-life club “represents … the same mentality of those who gunned down Dr. George Tiller.”

[...]In Kolic’s statement, he claimed that denying the pro-life group club status was a “great victory for human rights.” In his view, “the neutral stance is simply one that allows the individual woman herself to choose,” and, as such, he says this is the position that LUSU itself should take.

He went on to ask the student body for “help [to] restore democracy and the spirit of human rights to the Lakehead University Student Union” by attending their next meeting or emailing “a deputation to the board as to why a woman’s right to choose is important to you.”

How ironic: a pro-abortion person calling pro-lifers murderers. It seems to me that it is pro-abortionists who advocate the actual murder of hundreds of millions of innocent unborn children. And remember the recent murder of a pro-life activist by a pro-abortion zealot. And here’s a recent attempted murder of a pro-lifer. Those are from the last few months alone.

Let me ask you a question. How many pro-abortion people do you suppose have read a book like “Defending-Life-Against-Abortion-Choice” by Dr. Francis J. Beckwith, published by Cambridge University Press, or a book like “Embryo: A Defense of Human Life“, published by Princeton University’s Robert P. George? Are pro-abortionists informed about the case for the pro-life position?

Well, consider how they censor the pro-life clubs on campus. Do you think they are open-minded and tolerant of opposing views? I can probably make a more persuasive case for the pro-abortion view than militant pro-abortionists like Josh Kolic can. I’ve actually heard their arguments presented in debates that I chose to listen to. Josh wants to censor opposing views. That is pure intolerance.

Further reading

Suppression of pro-lifers is quite common in Canada.

Notice how pro-lifers focus on reason and evidence, while pro-abortionists focus on the use of force, to one degree or another, in order to get their way.

Or, How to recycle your conscience.

Now that they’re done playing God, what do they do with the leftovers? Sounds a bit (ya think?) cynical, I know, but that is exactly what people think that use IVF for making a family instead of waiting on God, as He meant it to be.

In their own mind, they believe this is some kind of spiritual quest to make a decision on the lives of their children that are frozen awaiting life outside the petri dish and the womb. But then again, these people really don’t understand Life and who created it. The job of creating Life is up to the Creator, not us.

From the Chicago Tribune: ‘The sheer volume of embryos in storage has spurred fertility centers to form new partnerships with research institutions that have only recently received federal funds and adoption agencies that want to match embryos with potential parents. Such decisions, doctors say, are often informed and framed by faith.’

Faith? If one has made the most hideous decision to create lives outside the womb, one should stand up and do the correct thing (because they didn’t do the right thing in the first place) and have their own children implanted for themselves and deal with the responsibility of it. Being of a Faith does not necessarily make your decisions correct – check the doctrine of your Faith against your conscience and see the condemnation…justifying lousy decision making on your denomination is just plain cowardice.

‘In the minds of many fertility doctors and patients, Obama’s decision to lift the ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research also lifted a stigma, inspiring some IVF patients to give research – stem cell and other kinds – more serious consideration…..They could place the embryos in the womb for gestation when they are ready to have more children. Another couple could adopt the embryos. They could donate to science. Or they could thaw the embryos and discard them.’

I suppose I can’t expect much more than what the world shows people that shun what God wants. The purposeful intent is pure selfishness.

Isaiah 28:13 says, ‘But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.’

The Bible is the final Word; one doctrine, one Faith, one Saviour.
