This has been in my drafts folder for ages. It was originally meant to be posted for Wenger’s 13th anniversary at Arsenal a few weeks ago. It was then meant to be put up on his birthday last week. As you can see neither happened but better late than never. It was Wenger’s 60th birthday and what better reason for a few lists? 15 great signings, 15 poor signings, 15 memorable games and 15 great goals (plus a few extra chucked in). Enjoy!

Arsene Who?

15 Great Signings:

1. Patrick Vieira – A relatively unknown player before he joined from AC Milan, Wenger got Arsenal to sign him before he joined himself. A decade of midfield dominance, spats with Roy Keane and the Neviller and countless trophies followed. Managed to get £14 million from Juve once his knees were knackered too.

2. Thierry Henry – 369 games, 226 goals. Best player in the Premier League for about five years.

3. Freddie Ljungberg – His red hair, his run of form in the 2001/02 season after Pires got injured, his debut goal against Man Utd, those underwear ads. A great player until his hip injury.

It gave him his power.

4. Nicolas Anelka – He left on bad terms but the money received bought Henry and Pires. The first example of Wenger buying cheap and making ridiculous profit. £22.5million profit in this case.

5. Marc Overmars - He was almost too good for Arsenal while he was there and it was no surprise to see Barcelona snap him up for £25million. Scored the winner at Old Trafford in 1998 that helped overcome a 12 point deficit and was generally very, very quick.

6. Robert Pires – His form in 2001/02 earnt him Footballer of the Year honours and he was arguably just as good in 2003/04. Scored a silly amount of goals from the wing, ran oddly, had a cool goatee strip thing  and apparently knew the French for va va voom. Always felt he left too early as Wenger wouldn’t give him a two year deal. Still doing the business at Villarreal.

7. Cesc Fabregas – Pinched from Barcelona, and will probably head back there one day but for now has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world. Perhaps the prime example of Wenger buying a young player and making him world class. Club captain at 22, the best is yet to come.

8. Andrey Arshavin – Probably the first current world class player Wenger has bought. Has already made a significant impact in his short time at the Emirates, even if he can be a right lazy bugger sometimes.

9. Jens Lehmann – He was immense in 2005/06 when battling to be ahead of Kahn for Germany. Also provided much hilarity as well as the odd moment of madness in his five years at the club.

10. Emmanuel Petit – ‘He’s blond, he’s quick, his name’s a porno flick. Emmanuel, Emmanuel.’ Had one of the funnier chants of recent times. Signed as a centre back, made a midfielder – he formed a fearsome partnership with Patrick Vieira for three short seasons.

11. Sol Campbell - You can’t beat signing your local rival’s captain on a free transfer.

12. Lauren – Hard. As. Nails. An ice cool penalty taker too.

13. Kolo Toure - Bought for £150K. Sold after seven years for £16million. Was fantastic at centre back until he got malaria and developed a fat arse.

14. Kanu – Ridiculous skills. Could do things with a ball you never thought possible.

15. Robin van Persie – Absolutely loves to blast it. As a result has scored some brilliant goals in his time at Arsenal.

15 Not So Great Signings:

1. Alberto Mendez – Bought from the mighty FC Feucht. I remember reading Wenger could have bought the whole club for the £250K he paid for Mendez. Made no impact.

2. Nelson Vivas – Cost Arsenal the title in 1999 with his mistake for Hasselbaink’s  winner vs Leeds late on in the season. Always got booked too.

3. Igors Stepanovs – Man Utd 6-1 Arsenal is all you need to know.

4. Francis Jeffers – The supposed fox in the box managed four league goals from 2001-04, a time when Arsenal scored by the bucketload. It would have helped if he’d played more than 22 times. £8million he cost!

5. Pascal Cygan – Wasn’t that bad but I remember how I used to shudder every time I saw his name on the team sheet. If you though Vidic had a slow turning circle…

6. Mickael Silvestre – Why? What purpose does he serve? He won’t even get a link.

Just retire already...

7. Tomas Danilevicius – A headbutt in a pre-season seems to ring a bell but that might have been after he left for Dunfermline. Played twice, didn’t score. The kind of random Wenger gamble where you wish we’d just saved the £1m.

8. Jeremie Aliadiere - Still only 26, he pissed about at Arsenal for eight long years, never learning from any of the amazing strikers at the club and scoring one league goal in his time. You always knew Wenger was basically giving away a game when Aliadiere started up front.

9. Jose Reyes – A bit dim, which meant he was the victim of many a prank. Involved in the Aragones ‘black shit’ saga too which meant his Arsenal career was over before it began given that Henry hated him. Scored a great debut goal against Chelsea though.

10. Amaury Bischoff – Normally Arsenal sign midfielders and then injure them. They tried the opposite and bought someone already injured. Needless to say he left after a year. He did play a game apparently.

11. Christopher Wreh – George Weah’s cousin. The family talent had obviously been diluted. Did score a couple of important goals in the 1997/98 season to be fair.

12. Kaba Diawara – All I remember was that he never scored, hit the post several times and was then still sold back to France for half a million profit.

13. Richard Wright – Big ears, crap goalkeeper.

14. Abou Diaby – There has to be someone current. Possibly the most frustrating player I’ve seen. could be excellent. Isn’t.

15. Rami Shaaban – Just where does he find these keepers from?!

15 Memorable Games (not all good):

1. Arsenal 1-2 Man Utd 14/04/99 – The one with everything, but especially the Arsenal missed penalty that would give Man Utd the momentum for the treble.

A good but overrated goal. Also, I didn't want to inflict the Giggs rug on you.

2. Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal 21/09/03 - The one where Ruud missed a penalty and Arsenal started their 49 game unbeaten run.

3. Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal 17/05/06 – The one where they were 14 minutes from being Champions of Europe.

4. Arsenal 2-1 Leicester 15/05/04 – The one where they went the season undefeated.

5. Real Madrid 0-1 Arsenal 21/02/06 – The one were they beat Real Madrid on their own patch.

6. Liverpool 4-2 Arsenal 08/04/08 – The one where they were robbed in the Champions League.

7. Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea 06/04/04 – The one where they dominated three of the four halves but still got knocked out.

8. Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea 04/05/02 – The one where they won their second double in four years.

9. Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal 08/05/02 – The one where they won the league in Manchester.

10. Inter 1-5 Arsenal 25/11/03 – The one where they produced the most unexpected scoreline I’d seen in years.

11. Leicester 3-3 Arsenal 27/08/97 – The one with the Bergkamp hat-trick.

12. Tottenham 4-5 Arsenal 13/11/04 – The one where we’ll score one more than you.

13. Arsenal 1-2 Liverpool 12/05/01 - The one where Michael Owen stole the FA Cup.

14. Arsenal 7-0 Everton 11/05/05 – The one with the biggest league win under Wenger.

15 Memorable Goals (in no particular order):

1. Thierry Henry vs Man Utd 30/09/00. Probably the first classic Henry Arsenal goal. He was just on the cusp of dominating the Premier League when he scored this.

2. Tony Adams vs Everton 03/05/98. Conclusive proof that Arsenal had shed their boring tag. Steve Bould chipped, yes chipped a through ball to Tony Adams who chested it before smashing a left foot volley home. The goal that sealed Wenger’s first title.

3. Dennis Bergkamp vs Newcastle 02/03/02. I remember people at the time saying he didn’t mean this. Fools.

4. Robert Pires vs Southampton 07/05/03. I think this gets underrated as it was a meaningless game before the 2003 Cup Final but few players could have done such a lob with three touches let alone one.

5. Ray Parlour vs Chelsea 04/05/02. Romford Pele scored few but when he did they were usually special. Tim Lovejoy gets slated to this day for saying ‘Oh, it’s only Ray Parlour’ just before he scored.

6. Dennis Bergkamp vs Sunderland 15/01/97. The non-flying Dutchman scored many an amazing goal for Arsenal but his trademark was opening up his body and curling one round the keeper into the top corner from about 25 yards. Like this.

7. Robert Pires vs Aston Villa 17/03/02. Any goal that makes Peter Schmeichel look silly gets the thumbs up from me. Pires was quite possibly the best player in Europe in the spring of 2002.

8. Freddie Ljungberg vs Juventus 04/12/01. I remember being at work during this match and trying to check my phone for text updates. Little did I know what a special goal I’d see when I got home. Just watch Bergkamp’s skill again and again and again…

9. Eduardo vs Burnley 08/03/09. Out for a year and he comes back with this. Quite recent but no less special for it.

10. Thierry Henry vs Spurs 16/11/02. Hmm how to wind up your rivals? I know, run 75 yards, dribbling past half the team before scoring, and then run all the way back and celebrate in front of the Spurs fans. Nice.

11. Dennis Bergkamp vs Leicester 27/08/97. One third of the greatest hat-trick in Premier League history.

12. Robin Van Persie vs Charlton 30/09/06. Trust me, he didn’t shin it. Well not on purpose anyway.

13. Ray Parlour vs Valencia 04/04/01. Back when Valencia and John Carew used to screw Arsenal over every couple of years there were many a disappointing night in Europe. This special from Ray Parlour however resulted in one of the most mental celebrations I’ve ever witnessed in pub.

14. Emmanuel Adebayor vs Villarreal 07/04/09. Yes he’s a prick but there’s no denying this was a great goal. The last good thing he did in an Arsenal shirt.

15. Thierry Henry vs Liverpool 09/04/04. Dumped out of the FA Cup and Champions League in consecutive games to Man Utd and Chelsea of all teams, Arsenal were 2-1 down at half-time at home to Liverpool with an unbeaten record to protect. Pires quickly equalised, before Henry gave Carragher the runaround for an amazing third. He’d complete his hat-trick later on and Arsenal went on to win the league unbeaten.

Um dos melhores trechos deste livro de Miller é um em que ele fala sobre sua infância. Impossível não se colocar no lugar do pequeno Henry, pobre e fudido em Nova York, porém, feliz com seus amigos pirados. depois, fui para meu primeiro livro do Georges Bataile, “O Azul do Céu“. (1957) bem, um livro interessante, uma história interessante, mas não é o que esperava ainda do “maldito” Bataile (e seu famoso, “A História do Olho“). depois disso, finalmente li o famosíssimo “Emannuelle” (1959), da francesa Emanuelle Arsan. e, bem, o livro merece sim a fama que tem, aliás, a fama maior se deve aos filmes (e seriados) que foram feitos baseados na obra literária, porém, não chegam nem aos pés do filme (que tem como personagem Emmanuelle — se chama, traduzido do italiano, “Eu, Emmanuelle” — a atriz sueca Sylvia Kristel). o livro é muito mais filosófico, apesar de ter o erotismo como base. terminado o delicioso Emmanuelle, comecei “A Casa dos Budas Ditosos” (1999), do brasileiro João Ubaldo Ribeiro. ainda não entendi o motivo da historinha criada pelo Ubaldo em dizer que o livro não fora escrito por ele (alguém teria mandado a história pra ele). será que no Brasil ainda há tanto preconceito quanto à literatura erótica? sim, pra quem não sabe, “A Casa…” é um livro erótico, contado por uma senhora de quase 70 anos que conta suas histórias de putarias sem vergonha nenhuma. uma pena que os escritores (principalmente os famosos) tenham vergonha de publicar este tipo de literatura. mas, o livro está muito bom (estou quase na metade) e parece que continuará assim, espero.

Pas d’objectif (cette année en tout cas !!), seulement un petit challenge entre collègues qui les fait arriver à la place de 219 / 240.  

Bon ce n’est pas un record, mais pour leur défense, la nouvelle recrue, alias Manue, n’est pas une habituée des baskets et a fait exploser le compteur !! Je la cite : « Au bout de 2 mètres je suis essoufflée comme un bœuf ! »

L’année prochaine, c’est promis, elles recommenceront, plus nombreuses !

Ah, September.  The leaves change color, apples of every possible variety can be found in stacks at the Farmers’ Market and me?

I’m glued to the television:

• Okay, not really.  I missed the debut of the rebooted Melrose Place the other night.  (Though I was sorry to miss Bronx’s mom in action.)  This edition includes an Ella and a Violet, as well as a female Riley.  On the masculine side, there’s Auggie and Jonah;
• Also on TV, I hear that Glee’s characters include Finn (a boy) and Quinn (a girl). Of course they’re dating;
• Before there was Twilight, there was The Vampire Diaries.  Now a series on the CW, Elena is torn between blood-sucking centuries-young, suntan-challenged brothers Stefan and Damon;
• Technically this is big screen news – So You Think You Can Dance alum Kherington Payne has a lead role as Alice in the big screen remake of Fame.  But will Kherington catch on for girls?  Or the Dynasty-esque original, Carrington? 

Also on the big screen, there’s Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.  Stand by for boys called Aldo, after Brad Pitt’s hyper-masculine hero.  (The character was named after a real-life tough guy actor from the 50s and 60s, Aldo Ray.)   There’s also the heart-breaking Jewish-French Shosanna, a name memorably yelled by the creepy Nazi Sicherheitsdienst officer Hans Landa, and her alias Emmanuelle.

Onto starbaby news:

• Yup, Nicole Richie and Benji Madden named their boy Sparrow.  He’s sure to fly to the top of worst celeb baby name lists.  Some rumblings suggest that Sparrow was inspired by a Simon & Garfunkel song, but the parents have yet to confirm the theory;
• Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans welcomed  a daughter named Ella Betsi Janet.  Ella is fine and I adore Betsy.  Janet is engagingly retro.  But Ella Betsi together seems like a deconstructed version of Elizabeth.  What’s next?  Ella Noor?  Nia Cole?  The mind reels;
• Country music’s Zac Brown and wife have welcomed a daughter named Georgia Sloan, little sister to Lucy and Justice – both girls, too;
• Katherine Heigl has confirmed that she is about to follow in a family tradition and adopt from Korea. (Hat tip to Photoquilty.) The baby on the way is to be named Naleigh.  It’s a smoosh of family names – mom Nancy and sister Leigh.  It’s a lovely thought, but all of a sudden, Sparrow seems perfectly reasonable.

Should you find yourself in a pediatrician’s office this month, pick up the current issue of Parents Magazine – there’s an extensive article on baby naming.  For true name aficionados, it is not exactly news.  (Though the report of one couple’s use of a name consultant was interesting and it was among the better coverage I’ve seen in a mainstream publication.)  But the big takeaway?  Laura Wattenberg contributed her Top Ten picks for the most popular names of 2019:

GIRLS:  Lila, Peyton, Lucy, Violet, Aubrey, Amelia, Piper, Ruby, Juliet and Harper.

BOYS: Miles, Rowan, Lincoln, Eli, Jude, Cooper, Wyatt, Ryder, Lucas and Henry.

I’ll have to do some thinking about her lists – some strike me as spot on, others … maybe not so much.  But seriously, if Laura Wattenberg is touting them as the likely hot names of 2019?  That alone might be enough to make it so.

Coat yourself in baby oil and throw your keys into the bowl because we’re knee deep in soft-core porno chic heaven with the 1974 French adult sensation Emmanuelle (Madman). It’s a film that brought soft-core exploitation cinema to the mainstream thanks to it’s incredibly high production values and attractive cast. It established all the cliches, with an exotic locale simmering with sexual tension (Thailand), and a young innocent newly married woman beginning a tempestuous voyage of sexual discovery when she joins her highly sexed totally sleazy diplomat husband. It’s dripping with gloss, clearly the filmmakers figuring (correctly) that if they amp up the production values then no one would mind so much that the whole film is just a pretentious excuse to get Sylvia Kristel to nude up and be dry humped by everything that moves. Actually that’s not altogether true, her husband dresses her provocatively and sends her out with a sinister old pervert who educates her by taking her to an opium den and watching while she’s raped. Nothing like a spot of deflowering to get the juices flowing. Yet that’s only the beginning in a questionably erotic film from Just Jaeckin (The Story of O), with music from Francis Lai (The Godfather).

By the time the second film comes around, imaginatively titled Emmanuelle 2 (Madman), the tables have turned for our heroine. She’s been transformed into a sexual predator, preying on animal, mineral and vegetable, grooming innocent young virgins for her marital bed and wrapping her legs around anything with a pulse. Set in Hong Kong, the couple have surrounded themselves with a bunch of sleazy ex pat swingers, where life is just one big never ending key party. The production values here may actually be better than the first, and there are some genuinely erotic moments such as a bit of three-way rub and tug action in a Bali bathhouse, but perhaps to compensate even the slightest whiff of narrative is thrown out with the bath-water and we’re just left with an increasingly tiring bunch of lushly shot scenes of nude people rubbing, licking and unconvincingly pretending to hump each other.

By our third adventure, Emmanuelle 3 (Madman) the cracks are showing. Firstly Emmanuelle has cut her hair and looks a little like a stern primary school teacher, then her love interest, the studly film director Gregory looks leathery like Roy Scheider and acts with the vitality of Keanu Reeves on heavy sedation. This time our oily couple are in Seychelles and Emmanuelle is tiring of the debauchery. The free love psycho babble of the previous films is increasingly sounding like convenient rationalisations for her husband’s attempts to get his end into the help, and even the climaxes are becoming increasingly hollow. Whilst the first film was about Emmanuelle’s physical awakening, this film is about her emotional development, realising that in her pursuit of pleasure she’s actually forgoing the one thing she truly wants. With a Serge Gainsbourg soundtrack, this is actually the best in the series, a real critique on the supposedly super cool liberated lifestyle celebrated in the first two.

Emmanuelle 4 (Madman) is a travesty, shot in the 80’s, six years after the third it’s barely related to the previous three and impossible to watch. The plot revolves around Emmanuelle, now referred to by the actors name, Sylvia, who escaping a stalker ex lover travels to Brazil to get some plastic surgery. Under the knife she goes back to a 20 year old and played by a different actress proceeds to root everyone she stumbles across, including the seedy bloke she was running from. This may possibly be the worst film Fragmented Films has ever submitted to. Within the first five minutes three characters have voice overs, then there’s this ultra kitsch screen wipe that’s an animated zip that gets pulled down the screen, inexplicably transporting us into into a studio set where the old Emmanuelle does these curious psycho sexual things to people, totally unrelated to the plot. It makes Ed Wood seem like Fellini.

After four paragraphs of beating around the bush (so to speak), lets cut to the chase. Eraserhead (Umbrella) is the greatest film ever made by anyone anywhere ever at any time. David Lynch created a new form of cinematic language with this strange malformed baby, a lush wondrous fever dream with some of the most incredible sound design you will ever experience. This is a digitally re-mastered special edition with an hilarious 90 minute making of documentary which is simply Lynch reminiscing and tangenting off about the strange band of outsiders who labored on this baby for five years. We’ve never had such insight into how this magical beast was created – it’s the holy grail.

I like Takashi Murikami. I like him alot. He has an exhibition at the Galerie Emmanuell Perrotin in Paris for the next month.
Whilst I won’t be attending, I can dream about superflat amine until my heart is content. Which is never.

After turning on my computer today, I was awed by the amount of nudity and porn that is so readily available. What is one of my generation to think?

When I was younger, I would try anything to see a naked lady, or to even see part of a girl nude. No, I didn’t stalk the girl’s locker room or wear mirrors on my shoes. But I did what I could to do so. From sneaking a peek at a relative’s Penthouse to intercepting “adults only” mail, I kept it on the down-low. I was a very sensual(and still am) kid, so sometimes I’d be pacing the room trying to think of a way to see more naked girls. Sad, wasn’t it?

Nowadays, all you have to do is to turn on a computer and *bam* topless women. A simple search can bring up porn of the average variety. Add a few key words, and you can see any fetish you could possibly imagine exists. I don’t think the boys of the modern world have the same “mystery” of the human body questions.

Even the young ladies today seem to have no problem with “sexting” or showing of their goods. Perhaps it isn’t a big deal to them as it was to me at that age. Girls never flashed their boobs. Only “slutty” girls would even think of such, at least those who did it openly. Maybe I was too naive to see it then.

So, what did I have to work with then? I created a fap-list of movies.

OK, I am not going to explain fapping. Google it. These movies were the ones I would use the pause button on the VCR, or would wait up to the wee hours of the morning tweaking in a fuzzy Showtime image to watch.

The criteria are

1. Had to be made on or before 1991. I was a teen boy then and it was prior to any personal sexual experiences.
2. Nudity is not a qualifier. Some B-movie skin flicks just didn’t do it for me.
3. I had to seen it more than once, or it was such an intense movie I couldn’t forget it.
4. Hardcore porns are disqualified.

Here’s the list, in no particular order. These are just the ones that stand out in my mind now. There was many more.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) –

            What a wonderful flick. Funny but sexual. From the banana-job scene (which originally was supposed to have been in a hot tub with both girls naked, BTW, but the censors said no) to Phoebe Cates’ famous slowmotion breast extravaganza, the movie was awesome. My favorite part, though, was seeing Jennifer Jason Leigh’s full nude body. I am so fond of creamy white skin.

Revenge of the Nerds (1984) –

            Another fun movie, the best for me was the spy cams installed in the Pi’s dorm. Oh..my.. That is every boy’s fantasy. I couldn’t get enough.

Blue Lagoon (1980) –

            Ok, who cares that some of the nude Brooke Shields scenes had body doubles? I don’t. It was poorly acted, in my view, but the nudity and the concept of being stranded like that was a great fantasy.

Alien (1979) –

            What? A sci fi flick? I didn’t watch these sci-suspense-horror flicks (and still don’t). But Sigourney Weaver in her undies (hey, I was 6 when this came out) during the final battle is, well, freaking awesome.

9 ½ Weeks (1986) –

            Refrigerator. Ice. Kim Bassinger. Enough said.

Pink Floyd’s The Wall (1982) –

            I am a huge Floyd fan. I got to see this movie only because of its music content. But to see the very real and very tasty redhead breast of Eleanor David was an extra added treat. Pause, rewind, repeat.

Emmanuelle (1974) –

            The French version was rated X I think, but I saw the R version on Showtime. Many, many times. Something about Thailand, I think. Meh. Lots of nudity and sex in this one.

The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of Yik Yak (1984) –

            Ok, sexy but more importantly, Tawny Kitaen’s boobs. Tawny Kitaen. Tawny Kitaen!

Weird Science (1985) –

            No nudity, but the idea of showering with Kelly LeBrock is delicious. And no, I wouldn’t have worn my clothes. Losers.

Caligula (1979) –

            A “historical” movie masquerading as a porno. A Skinemax staple, I believe only the R version was available.

Legend (1985) and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) –

            Ok, I listed both for only one reason: an almost nude Mia Sara, In FBDO, she was all wet and in her slip at the pool. In Legend, she has a dress given to her by Darkness that opened to her navel. Yeah, she isn’t busty, but it doesn’t matter (she was 15 at the initial filming of  Legend, but it took forever to release). Dee-lish-us.

And finally:

Tendres Cousines (1980) –

            A French movie, well, OMFG. I saw this on Showtime I think. I had the sound turned off. Actually, it was me and my brother in the living room. I had to keep checking that my mom was asleep. Incredible. Only saw it once, but dayamn.

The HBO original series Entourage is a comedy, right? By all accounts this show aims to make it’s audience laugh. But wait – how can a show that is so funny be soooo… sexy? Well, that’s easy – creator Doug Ellin, knowing the power and cash value of Funny/Sexy television, developed a program, that while comedic at first glance, is encompassed with undeniable sexiness. First off, let’s take the show’s setting, Los Angeles, arguably the sexiest city in the world.


Now take the cast: Adrian Grenier (Vince), Kevin Connolly (E), and Jeremy Piven (Ari) are all stylish good looking dudes. Yet each has a distinct comedy style that makes them more enjoyable to watch beyond their cool demeanors.

Johnny Drama is a throw away here, simply added for comedic relif, though stylish, not very sexy. HILARIOUS, but not sexy, sorry Drama.

Then you have Turtle, who personally I find very sexy, and he reminds me of someone I know though I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Then you have all the countless hotties that Vinnie and the gang continually bang season after season:



So all in all Entourage could be considered the most funny/sexy television series on the air today. With it’s 6th season underway there is seemingly no end to this franchise. Proving once again that funny/sexy television will stand the test of time…. Well done boys, now please Jerry Ferrera make me your stunt double, and stop ignoring my myspace messages…

You may already have heard that the Much Music video Awards are this weekend.  I certainly have, and I’m not that into pop culture.  In the spirit of supporting the only Canadian media event that garners attention from outside (or for that matter inside) our borders, I watched Much Music for a few minutes today.  I have to say, I was thrilled with what I saw.  First of all, it’s fabulous to know that the days of needing to be beautiful in looks or voice seem to be gone from the music industry, opening a world of opportunities for those of us once relegated to singing into hair brushes; and second because I’ve now found a backup for Showcase to meet my soft porn needs.

The first thing I saw was a video by someone I’d never heard of before: Elise Estrada.  This girl spent 4 full minutes having lesbian orgies in an outfit that makes me suspect she was there when David Carradine died.  Admittedly, she’s probably quite pretty even after you remove the teal eye-shadow that covered her natural eyebrows and mingled closely with her hair line.  But then came Girlicious.

I’m pretty sure that this particular group creates what Barney Stinson (from How I Met Your Mother) so aptly described as the “cheerleader effect.”  If you separated the girls and, more importantly dressed them in something more than panties, you’d probably discover they’re not all that hot.  But forget their wardrobe, what’s with the token fat black guy?  Why is he there?  Would the song really suffer if they left out his intermittent “woos” and “oh yeahs?”  Are we supposed to think that they’re not shallow because they’re hanging out with the fat guy even as they sing “look at me, ain’t I hot?”  Because I’m not buying it.

When that was done it was time for Lady Gaga.  What kind of name is Gaga anyway? And what’s with the eternal absence of pants?  Moreover, what’s with the absence of any clothing in whichever video it was I saw this morning?  In one segment, she’s wearing nothing but body paint and Beadazzler vomit, while sitting on a concrete bench giving a male dancer a view of her anatomy that is ordinarily reserved for those with obstetrical degrees.  The rest of the video is spent by her and her dancers in a very Michael Jackson-esque series of crotch grabs.

What amazes me most about this woman is that no one seems to have noticed that from the neck up, she really is quite hideous.  I’m sure the pant thing is specifically designed to draw your attention down below the neck, so kudos to her for a winning strategy.  Also, she’s cleverly cut her bangs halfway down her face preventing us from clearly seeing it even if we can resist the expanse of bare leg flesh below.

But hey, at least the bareness is saving me from yet another rerun of Emmanuelle.

Emmanuelle ne faisait pas dans le dosage homéopathique… Elle aimait m’aguicher le soir avant l’apéritif sur la terrasse ; elle se changeait souvent pour cela, passant du salon à la chambre, et de la chambre au salon en shorty, faisant mine de chercher la robe de lin beige qu’elle affectionnait. Je préparais les pina colada en la regardant passer, au risque de renverser le rhum sur le sol de tommettes. Pendant qu’elle disparaissait je pensais à son cul sublime, à ses courbes, à ses seins en formes de pêches sensuelles. Je bandais immanquablement et rêvais de l’entraîner dans la douche ou sur le sofa pour la prendre violemment, pour saisir ses petites fesses à pleines mains au point que mes doigts ne tutoient l’orifice de son cul ; geste qui l’excitait au plus haut point… C’était en général à ce moment là qu’elle revenait pimpante, finalement vêtue d’un jean usé et d’un caraco, m’appelant à travers le salon : “Rejoins moi sur la terrasse, j’ai soif !”

18/04/2009,  8H nous prenons la route moi et mon acolyte, direction le sud. Cette fois-ci nous n’avons rien bu la veille, ce qui n’est pas plus mal en y réfléchissant bien. En effet quel périple nous avons prévu, mais mieux que des mots voici les différentes étapes sur un plan qui expliquera mieux que moi :

Départ de Zilina avec un grand soleil en direction du sud de la Slovaquie, nous suivons la route de Zvolen accompagné d’un Dire Strait bien motivant. Nous contournons les Tatras et arrivons dans la plaine Slovaque qui descend jusqu’à Bratislava et même jusqu’en Hongrie,…

Nous ne nous arrêtons que très rapidement pour prendre un café, mais déjà l’atmosphère n’est pas la même qu’au nord, j’ai comme l’impression que cette région est comment dire,… moins développée. Nous continuons notre route et arrivons aux sud du sud. Nous tombons sur un petit village d’irréductible Slovaque semblant protéger la frontière Hongroise. Mais espace Schengen oblige, nous passons la frontière avec une facilité déconcertante, c’est quand même beau l’Europe !

Juste le temps de fumer une cigarette sur la Terre natale de notre Président, que nous rebroussons chemin. Le village s’appel « Horne Semerovce ». Pourquoi je m’en souviens et pourquoi je vous parle me direz vous ? Tout simplement parceque j’y ai vu la chose la plus incroyable qui soit. Imaginez un cimetière, à côté une église, jusque là rien de bien méchant, mais qui pourrait croire que l’un des murs de ce lieu de recueillements soit mitoyen avec … un bordel !!!!! Comment je l’ai su ? Et bien non je n’y suis pas allé, (mauvaise langue que vous êtes…) mais sur la devanture on pouvait lire Emmanuelle… Autant vous dire que le néon rose à coté du panneau ne faisait pas pensé à Sœur Emmanuelle mais plutôt au vieux fauteuil en rotin de ce film érotique culte…

Après un bon fou rire nous repartons, direction Lučenec à l’est. Plus nous avançons et moins les routes sont bonnes, moins les voitures sont neuves, plus les infrastructures semblent vieilles et désuètes. Nous arrivons à destination après que notre blonde (le GPS et pas une escort… rooo vous avez vraiment l’esprit mal placé) ait terminé sa phrase par un doux « Vous êtes arrivé à Lučenec (avec l’accent Slovaque s’il vous plaît) ». Comment sait-elle que nous sommes deux dans la voiture… Je persiste à penser qu’il doit y avoir une caméra quelque part dans l’habitacle. Mais je n’ai pas le temps de fouiller car une chose attire mon regard vers l’extérieur, des barres d’immeubles, partout… c’est impressionnant, la ville est situé sur une petite colline et est recouverte d’immeuble. J’imagine bien l’ancien régime communiste construire ces habitations pour les industries locales. Nous nous arrêtons pour manger un morceau.

En repartant, nous cherchons en vain le centre ville. Il n’y en a pas. Etrange… Alors sur la route qui continu à l’est vers « Rimaska Sobota » nous nous mettons en quête d’usine ou autre moyen de revenu pour ces gens… Rien, ou si peu… Cela reste un mystère… (En fait après avoir eu quelques informations il s’agit d’une ancienne cité minière de l’air communiste mais les mines sont fermées ce qui a eu pour effet de faire monter le chômage locale de manière démesuré). Les villages que nous traversons pour nous rendre au point d’arrivé sont quasiment en ruines… Et largement habité par les Gipsy La pauvreté y est importante. Les maisons sont délabrées et la pluparts vivent dans des cabanes construites avec des morceaux de maison ou autre… Nous ne nous arrêtons pas là, même pour prendre une photo… trop dangereux.

La journée est bien avancée et il est temps de rebrousser chemin si nous ne voulons pas arriver à point d’heure à Zilina. Nous remontons en nous arrêtant prendre un café à Banska Bystrica une jolie ville qui apparemment abrite beaucoup d’étudiants.

Le temps de manger quelques mets Américains dans un restaurant de motard à « Martin » (enfin looké à l’américaine, pas un bouge remplis de loubard dégoutants…) et nous arrivons à la maison. Enfin l’appartement…

Quelle journée ! Environ 700 km et un pays traversé du nord au sud (à 40 kilomètres prêt) ça forge le caractère.

Le Cabanon… un nom évocateur à Marseille, celui des petites baraques du bord de mer.

Pourtant, ce cabanon, c’est autre chose.

C’est un lieu de soin où, loin des clichés sur la toxicomanie, des hommes et des femmes

viennent consulter leur médecin, voir l’assistante sociale ou la psychologue, et parfois restent un peu à

l’accueil pour discuter…

Entre tiraillements, limites et engagement, les uns accompagnent les autres, mais d’une certaine façon ils luttent ensemble.

Le film propose une incursion au cœur de cette réalité, il est une rencontre, une interrogation, une expérience partagée.
