La umbra unui copac, o fosta elevă caută cu obstinaţie în geanta ei supradimensionată, printre Herve Bazin, Cioran, J. Giono şi Adevărul de seară un febrifug care să-i readucă temperatura corpului la normalitate. Găsind doar un pachet de şerveţele parfumate, se mulţumeşte să-şi şteargă picăţelele de apă sărată îngrămădite în mod inexplicabil în cuta de obicei insesizabilă de pe mijlocul frunţii. Plecase de acasă cu un singur gând “Plec!”, iar paşii o purtară tocmai acolo, în curtea liceului, părăsit fără regrete acum un an, fără ca mitul eternei reîntoarceri să-şi fi găsit corespondent în realitate până în acel moment. Nu întelege durerea acută din regiunea abdominală şi nici muşcătura unghiilor în carnea moale a palmelor umede. Se gândeşte că ar fi bine să-şi scoată agenda pentru a consemna această experienţă şi, în timp ce scrie, observă cum îi tremură pixul în mână, după care vede gloata de elevi scăpaţi din temniţă, polemizând în jurul problematicii locului unde îşi vor petrece after school-ul: ” Buey, haideţi în New York k e şmecher, dar să-l aşteptăm pe V că a zis că vine cu două jointuri”. Câte amintiri scoase tout d’un coup de sub lacătul ruginit al memoriei..Acum un an era la moda Ritz-ul din Tiglina şi salata de fructe. Îşi aminteşte cum plecau în număr mare în căutarea bucuriei pierdute între colţul băncii şi catalogul profesorului încruntat, cum îi privea prismatic pe cei opriţi la “poarta fericirii” să socializeze printre fumuri de Pall Mall şi zâmbete strâmbe, cum ajungea acasă înecată în reverii bovarice, aşteptând impacientată să  intre pe messenger pentru a-şi pune la status: “să nu te fi iubit nu-mi amintesc, dar trebuie să fi fost îngrozitor..”, mesaj dedicat unui ignorant în ale dragostei de la clasa de mate-info. Sub nucul acela bătrân, parcă  mai freamata încă gândind la sprâncenele lui groase şi la ochii aceia negri care nu promiteau nimic…Conştientizeaza încet încet starea de bine care o cuprinde pe neaşteptate în aburii săltaţi ai iubirilor de demult, şi priveşte curioasă păianjenul care, mic acrobat pe pânza lui subţire, nu se sinchiseşte de prezenţa unei foste liceene  nostalgice..Timp, încotro mergi, spre ce meleaguri noi, grăbit alergi…

Articel – …writing history – pictures updated!

Day 60 – Sathurday, November the 15th

This weekend was full of new experiences. At Saturday I was invited to Mr. Thomas’s house for dinner. But I was not the only guest. A production manager of a very big printing company was also invited. This company is printing the glo recharge cards (www.gloworld.com) and the lottery “something” for example. Fresh salad, selfmade pizza, spring rolls, rise and chicken were dished up. The dessert consisted of selfmade donuts and coffee *yummy yummy* Very good alternative to daily thunafish, eggs, and instant noodles. Thanks again to Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Angelika for this nice dinner!! Followed by a quite silent powerless evening with romantic candlelight, I was still thinking how I can repair the lightning machine, which I work since a week. Step by step I’m coming closer to the finish,…so close and even so far away. I allready started to dream about this machine… I need to find a solution!

Day 61 – Sunday, November the 16th

Well without light I can’t work on it and so I decided to track with Mr. Soji a teacher from PrePress to track again trough Ibadan. This is a really good opportunity to see what’s behind those empty walls. We was tracking around 7hours, just once we took the public transport (I wanted to walk but…nevermind ) We was visiting Mr. Soji’s Mother which is unfortunately sick with Malaria, but she was still at the church to pray. We met his Brother Emanuel and his Sister’s. Very heartly and gently like everyone. Then we was visiting “Bapa” an older men which is working on the compound, he is cutting the grass for example. Very nice guy. Unfortunately he was not around as well, but we met his wife and all those kids. I don’t know how to descripe the enviroment, I never saw something like that before and I started to ask my self how all those people can life like that. However, it was clear that there is not much money but they just asked Mr. Soji in Yoruba what I like and from the other tracking tours he knows that I allways buy little packs of biscuits just for 15Naira (1cent). They just brouth them and I couldn’t do anything, I tried to share with the kids but they were too shy. It was a very unpleasant situation for me. But this is a good example how heartly the nigerians are. They don’t have much but they share anything with you. Well I was making some pictures by walking when nobody was around because it’s very respectless to make pictures especially with people you don’t know.

Whoa boring walls. They want all Temple stuff here. Students being active…cliche Temple spirit shots

This office needs two photos framing the window in the middle, and some on the adjacent walls.

Artsy photos here. One that he wants for sure is Neal’s photo of the paint cans with someone walking through.

Not a great shot of the wall, but this is a very wide wall. It’s already a very busy space, so let’s try to keep it simple and uncluttered

This is the opposite wall, where there are two very large photos hanging already. We printed these for a different space originally, but the offices have been moved around since.

These two walls need to be done. This is the first space that is seen when you walk into the University Council’s office. The lady sitting at the desk likes dark blue and was interested in the Baptist Temple photos.

Some of these photos are a bit warped, sorry. The room is so small and I didn’t bring a proper lens. The lady in this office would like something colorful, nothing too dark, since the room is so small. The first photo is looking out of the office. We could put something above the book shelf.

This wall could definitely use something.

These photos are all pretty high resolution, so just click on them to enlarge them and copy them or drag them to your desktop to begin working on them. Use photos from the flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/photosem/) and superimpose them on the photos of the walls. If you have a finished example, post it so we can see each others work.

Mr. Wagner would like Temple-related photos on a few walls in his office. The larger wall in the photo below could use a picture, and under the vent it would be nice to have one too.

The photos above and below are facing walls. He mentioned putting two complimentary photos facing each other, framing the window in between.

The largest wall (shown below) needs some color! Maybe we could do a series of smaller photos arranged somehow…

Salve raga, qui sotto vi propongo le due esperienze musicali nate dalle “viscere” della grande band americana dei System Of A Down che nel maggio del 2006 annunciò, durante il concerto finale dell’Ozzfest Tour, la decisione di prendersi una pausa di qualche anno e di sciogliere quindi il gruppo;

- da una parte troviamo gli Scars on Broadway , di cui fanno parte la 2°voce/chitarra Daron Malakian e il batterista John Dolmayan ; il gruppo ha pubblicato il loro album d’esordio nel luglio del 2008, dandogli lo stesso nome della band. Il loro stile musicale è etichettato come “rock sperimentale”, anche se c’è un po’ di influenza metal in pieno stile  System Of A Down. Il video che vi propongo si intitola “They Say“ ed è stato il primo singolo dell’album.

-dall’altra c’è il frontman Serj Tankian che ha invece intrapreso la carriera da solista e ha pubblicato nell’autunno 2007 l’album Elect The Dead . Dopo undici anni passati a suonare con i System, Serj ha deciso di approfittare della pausa voluta da tutta la band per occuparsi di un progetto che aveva in mente da molto tempo; i pezzi dell’album sono stati realizzati interamente dal cantante che nel comporre la musica si è cimentato in quasi tutti gli strumenti eccetto la batteria . La canzone da me proposta è “Empty Walls” il cui video fa riferimento alle vicende che hanno coinvolto l’esercito degli Stati Uniti impegnato in Iraq e in Afghanistan.  Si vedono infatti i bambini che giocando ricostruiscono le scene della caduta delle Torri Gemelle, delle torture di Abu Grahib e si conclude con il passaggio di un feretro coperto da una bandiera americana. Il suo genere è l’Alternative metal. Personalmente adoro molto la sua musica!!!! è dura la punto giusto!!! voto 9

Well, since it seems that we’ve become yet another moonbat blog [1],  we might as well seal the deal with the war protest song Empty Walls by System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, off 2007’s Elect the Dead. It has a video that’s guaranteed to raise the blood pressure of war hawks everywhere. (‘Course, the GOP hasn’t made their own little home movies to exploit the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Naaaaah, they haven’t done that at all)

Seriously, though, no matter what you think about Tankian’s politics, you gotta admit that the guy has a hell of a voice, and that he can write catchy, dramatic pop-protest lyrics like no one’s business.

Serj Tankian is voor sommigen misschien een minder bekende naam. Het is de Libanese zanger van het bekende System Of A Down, maar dan solo.

Hij stond onlangs in het voorprogramma voor Smashing Pumpkins in België en staat ook op een hele resem festival-podia deze zomer.

Hoewel hij solo nog niet zoveel bewezen heeft, spreekt zijn stijl mij wel aan op het eerste zicht, en lijkt hij mij op zijn minst een fotogeniek persoon te zijn. Op zijn minst de moeite om hem het voordeel van de twijfel te gunnen. Het meest bekende nummer volgens mij is ‘Empty Walls’.

This is a disturbing and twisted video, but it is very poignant at the same time. I think seeing these situations re-enacted by children has a very emotional impact, and seeing how one day some of these children may be fighting in this war it only adds to the poignancy of the video. I won’t over analyze the lyrics but I will share that I think the empty walls are the borders that separate countries, and he wants us to be able to understand ordinary Iraqi citizens perspective as well as our own tragic American perspective.
