Enligt Jan Björklund Folkpartiet är vi så illa tvugna att trippa mer åt höger och han har dessutom rätt. Jag som säger det är Socialist. Låt mig förklara varför han har rätt och sedan titta på alternativen.

1. Sänk skatterna

Helt rätt. Det betyder givetvis att man samtidigt ska minska anslagen till skola vård och omsorg eller öka budgetunderskottet ännu mer och det är ju inget bra alternativ. Budgetunderskottet har redan nått den gräns vi kan acceptera.

2. “modernisera” arbetsrätten

Ja. Om vi ska konkurrera på en globaliserad marknad så ska vi konkurrera med Kina och Indien. Då kan man inte dalta med arbetskraften. Vill inte du jobba 12 timmar om dagen utan semester? Ja. Det är logiskt. Om vi vill värna jobben, som Socialdemokraterna pratar om, så ska vi väl se till att vi får mer jobb, eller? T.o.m. Mona Sahlin tycker att ”Vi äldre kan jobba längre” En uppluckring av turordningsreglerna kommer få folk att skärpa till sig och inse att anställningstrygghet är övervärderat. Man måste vara flexibel i framtiden. Ryggsäck och fler vandrarhem kommer förenkla det hela för arbetarklass och gravida kvinnor. Ja`det handlar faktiskt maximalt om två gravida kvinnor per företag som ska bli “flexibla”.

3. Mer kärnkraft

Ja. Om vi ska konkurrera på en globaliserad marknad som fokuserar på att producera mer och mer grejer billigare och billigare har vi helt enkelt inte råd att satsa på miljövänlig kostsammare el. Vad ska vi annars leva av? Potatis, älggryta och äppelpaj? Utan en acceleration av tillväxten får vi ju inte tillgång till alla prylar vi vill ha. Kärnkraftsavfallet är ett senare problem som vi kan titta på senare.

4. In med Euron och ut med den svenska kronan.

Ja. Om vi nu ska vara med i EU kan vi lika gärna gå in fullt ut. Att folket röstade Nej till EMU beror nog mest på att de inte gillar politiken sedan EU-medlemskapet, men folket har ju inte en aning vad som är bäst för små- och medlestora företag. Undrar varför vi har rösträtt? Hade vi alla vetat vad som egentligen var bäst för oss hade vi röstat “Ja” till mer EU d.v.s. EMU som vi blev tillsagda. T.o.m. Socialdemokraternas politikeradel och deras samarbetspartner verkar ju gilla EU, eftersom de inte tänker fälla en Socialdemokratisk regering på den frågan.

5. Mer krig

Sverige ska fortsätta invasionen av Afghanistan under USAs ledarskap. Det är ett bra sätt att hålla industrin igång. Att “skydda unga flickors rätt att gå i skolan” är ju dessutom ett bra argument som går hem i TV-sofforna. Jan, är säkert med på fler krig. En attack av den “intellektuella kulturvänstern” är helt på sin plats. Att USA störtat demokratier och stöttat diktaturer efter 1945 är en liten skitsak i sammanhanget. Dessutom får vi mer opium ur Afghanistan nu.

6. Skydda inte Sverige

Ja. Miljöpartiets idé om att livsmedel ska framställas ekologiskt, närodlat och småskaligt och på så vis se till att det finns närodlad bra mat inom räckhåll är helt enkelt fel. Att transportera besprutad mat, gärna genmanipulerad, långa sträckor, är bra för tillväxten och transportindustrin. Lite skit ränsar magen, som man säger.

7. Slopa värnskatten.

Ja. Att beskatta de med mest inkomst är helt enkelt fel. Man har ju skaffat sig hög inkomst för att man gillar pengar. Beskatta de som har lägre inkomster. De gillar ju inte pengar ändå för då hade de sett till att ha högre löner. De nya moderaterna har blivit mjukisar och blir ett sossealternativ.

Liberala Ungdomsförbundet verkar vara på samma hårdföra linje i det mesta.

Och nu till alternativen…

Alternativ 1: Sossar med anhang.

Det innebär visserligen ett EU-medlemskap och kanske ett EMU-medlemskap eftersom sosseadeln verkar helt med på den linjen, vilket Folkpartiet gillar. T.o.m. fortsatt krig i Afghanistan verkar intressant, verkar det, kanske t.o.m. sänkta skatter för att klara sig i den globala konkurrensen. Kärnkraft verkar ju sossarna vara med på. Ja, Jan, om du inte gillar FP så har du alltid Socialdemokraterna som ett mycket likt alternativ. Det är väl bara värnskatten det handlar om och med de löner som sosseadeln har kan vi nog lätt övertala dem om den saken. De gillar ju pengar. Vi kan skylla på EU-anpassning eller något liknande.

Alternativ 2: Extremvänstern. Kommunisterna. Socialistslynglarna och det gröna flummet i en skön förening.

UT ur EU. Upp med tullmurar, skydd för företag mot utländska storföretag. Höga skatter och bortkastade pengar på skola vård och omsorg. En ny berlinmur mellan EU och Sverige. Fred. Inga invasioner, sänkt tillväxt för företagen. Ekologiskt obesprutat trams och närproducerat och massvis med löjliga vindkraftverk.

Alternativ 3: Extremhögern. Bruna gossarna.

Sverigedemokraterna kan visa sin rätta sida. Denna gång ger vi oss på muslimerna istället för judarna. Kommunister, zigenare och socialistslynglar internerar vi. Mer krig, blondhet, blåa ögon, framavling av folk som lyder blint och springer mot fienden som de blivit tillsagda. Jimmie Åkesson blir rikskansler efter en rungande seger i vanligt representativt val.

Alternativ 4: Direktdemokrati i balans med representativitet

Alla går med i www.aktivdemokrati.se och diskuterar saken balanserat och tar de direktdemokratiska beslut som folket verkligen vill ha i absolut liberalism, d.v.s. frihet. Socialliberaler och Kapitalliberaler i balans.

Used to think it’s a fallacy, but I’m starting to think otherwise.

Prom shopping was great, I wished I was my brother’s age so that I can be his date. HAHA.

Shopping with my parents was great too. My mum’s not the shopping type. My dad was, and it’s damn funny when he told me he cant get the pants he wanted cause my mum would scold him.

No pictures at all for the week, wont be having any next week either ’cause my camera’s with edwina.

I think I’m really getting old ’cause I need to have at least 2 rest days in a week now. 

I was really excited to wake up and watch ANTM today, but the first thing I saw when I woke up was edwina’s text which said “Nicole won.” Damn kuku! It’s just like my brother telling me the ending to 2012 the other day! And I’m really not excited to watch it anymore, but I did watch anyway, dont wanna miss their runway walk and stuff. My fave always dont win ANTM. Hate it. 

I am gonna force my boyfriend to watch 2012 with me when he comes back. I think I’m the last person in Spore who havent watched it yet.

Over the past few years while I’ve been studying and working in the field of journalism, there have been dozens of insights and pieces of advice that I’ve taken away. The most important, in my opinion, is the importance of fact checking.

As a result of lack of fact checking, thousands of people can be grossly misinformed about what happened. The worst part, however, is that the majority of the readers who come across incorrect information aren’t going to know any better.

So, in hopes of preventing incorrect information getting out to the masses, take heed of the following suggestions:

- If you’re unsure of something or need further details, don’t be afraid to ask somebody who knows. Face-to-face or phone conversations work best, as e-mails may not always be replied to in a timely fashion.

- Believe it or not, Wikipedia is a good starting off point but always be sure to check to references section at the bottom of the page.

- Factcheck.org – know about it.

- If you don’t know something, don’t pretend to.

- And as far as spelling goes, your word processor’s built in spell checker shouldn’t always be trusted.

Antti Pesonen esitti (FL 10.11.) tavalliseen tapaansa populistisia näkemyksiä Suomesta ja sen kuvitellusta epädemokraattisuudesta. Pesosen keskeisin teesi lienee väite, jonka mukaan suomalaiset valtapuolueet harjoittavat lumedemokratiaa sillä ne eivät orjallisesti noudata kansalaiskyselyiden tuloksia.

Mutta onko Itsenäisyyspuolueen puheenjohtaja Pesosella todellisuudessa paljoakaan varaa kuittailla siitä, etteivät pääpuolueet noudata joka asiassa gallupien tuloksia? Pesosen mukaan valtapuolueet eivät edusta kansaa, mutta edustaako Pesosen omakaan puolue sitä?

Pesosen Itsenäisyyspuolue on ilmoittanut tavoitteekseen mm. erota EU:sta ja eurosta luopumisen. Ihmettelen miten tämä on mahdollista, sillä kansan enemmistö pitää Suomen EU-jäsenyyttä hyvänä asiana ja vain viidennes arvioi sen negatiiviseksi. Nousu on ollut jatkuvaa sitten vuoden 2006. On myös otettava huomioon, että Suomi liittyi EU:hun kansan äänestettyä selvästi jäsenyyden puolesta.

Samaten usko siihen, että Suomi on hyötynyt EU-jäsenyydestä on kasvussa. Noin 60% arvioi EU:n hyödyttäneen Suomea, kun vain 33% katsoo asian olevan toisin. Keväästä 2008 lähtien tyytyväisten määrä on lisääntynyt yhdeksän prosenttiyksikköä ja epäilevien määrä laskenut kahdeksan prosenttiyksikköä.

Huomioitavaa on myös, että toisin kuin Pesonen väittää, 59% suomalaisista katsoo EU:n suojaavan unionin kansalaisia globalisaation haitallisilta vaikutuksilta. Noin 73% suomalaisista uskoo, että EU:n avulla Suomi hyötyy globalisaation positiivisista vaikutuksista enemmän kuin ilman unionia.

Sama mantra pätee myös euroon. Vaikka itseään kansan mieheksi tituleeraava Pesonen vaatii euroa poistettavaksi ja markan palauttamista maan valuutaksi, 80% kansasta on toista mieltä. Miten tämä on mahdollista?

Eikö kansan mies luota kansaan kuin niissä kysymyksissä, joissa kansa sattuu olemaan samaa mieltä kuin Pesonen itse? Sellainenhan olisi vallan tekopyhää, eikö?

The Zelda-esc game for the Nintendo Famicom, the Japanese version of our little old school Nintendo Entertainment Center. It is an RPG, like I said, that is very similar to Zelda. An Aussie truckie walks into  an outback cafe with a full-grown emu behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders.

The truckie says, ‘A hamburger, chips and  a coke,’ and turns to the emu,  ’What’s yours?’

‘I’ll have the  same,’ says the emu.

A short time later the waitress returns with the order ‘That will be $9.40  please.’ He reaches into  his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment.

The next day, the man and the emu come again and he says, ‘A  hamburger,  chips and a coke.’ The emu says, ‘I’ll have the same.’

Again the truckie reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes routine until the two enter again. ‘The usual?’ asks the  waitress.

‘No, it’s Friday night, so I’ll have a steak, baked  potato and a salad,’ says the man. ‘Same,’ says the emu.  

Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, ‘That will be  $32.62.’

Once again the man pulls the exact change out  of his pocket and places it on the table.

The waitress can’thold back her curiosity any longer. ‘Excuse me, mate, how do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?’  

‘Well, love’ says  the  truckie, ‘A few years ago, I was cleaning out the back shed, and found  an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything,  I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money  would always be there.’

‘That’s  brilliant!’ says the  waitress. ‘Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you’ll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!’  

‘That’s right. Whether it’s a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,’ says the man.

The waitress asks, ‘What’s with the bloody emu?’  

The truckie sighs, pauses, and answers, ‘My second wish was for a tall chick with a big arse and  long legs, who agrees with everything I say.’  

I didn’t feel that good this morning, but the shopping must be done, so hubby and I made our way to City Hall for the last outdoor Greenmarket of the season. Starting next Sunday, it will have been one year since the Greenmarket started, and it will be indoors until Spring.

Our loot from today:

• 1 dozen jumbo eggs (these babies are huge!) and 1lb chicken cutlets from Coopers Ark Farm
• 1 bottle of Salmagundi wine (rose) from Hudson-Chatham Winery
• 1/2 gallon reduced-fat milk from Battenkill Creamery
• 2 loaves Rustic Italian bread from Our Daily Bread
• 1 Italian frying pepper

It was really 1/2 a bottle of Salmagundi, because it was on a sale, but only the tasting bottle was left, which we bought for a discounted price. Because, really, I’m the one who’s gonna drink it, not K, and I really don’t need to drink a whole bottle.  It’s pretty good, light and very smooth, but I can’t figure out what the name is for, and the label doesn’t give any clues.  The best I can find is that salmagundi means sort of a hodge-podge of things, which might be what’s in the wine?

We also ended up getting jumbo eggs for the price of large ones, which is kinda cool. Although, honestly, to me, an egg is an egg, I use the same number no matter how big they are.  They are pretty hefty though! And Phil, owner of Coopers Ark also ended up bringing a couple of young emus that they keep at the farm (and sell their eggs at the market). We never buy one, it’s $15, and even though 1 emu egg is the equivalent of a dozen chicken eggs (!!!) chicken eggs are only $3/dozen.

I’ve seen lots of scary pics of emus, but these were as friendly as could be. There were no signs saying to be careful, and I saw plenty of kids sticking their hands all over the birds without a problem.

We are only in town three days this week, so we’re making more pizza, breaded chicken cutlets, and clam sauce with linguine. Obviously the clams are not local, heh.  Oh…I love seafood too much to give it up!

On Sunday afternoon, October 25, the Youth Orchestra will be presenting a short concert, demonstrating many of the instruments. Come to Martin Chapel in the Seminary Building at Eastern Mennonite University at 3:30 pm. The program is intended for families with children of all ages. Come in costume if you like and expect a variety of treats!

So a few days ago I attended the National Day on Writing event at Eastern Michigan University. I don’t want to go into too much detail about the event itself, but you can be sure that it was (1) awesome, (2) made me feel like a kid again and (3) reignited the fire that is my imagination.

Anyway, one of the booths, for lack of a better term, at this event was titled “Finish this Story.” After reading a few stories finished by other participants I decided that it would be in my best interest to do the same. The story I finished and am going to share with you is titled “Momzilla” and was written by Mrs. Medley’s class at Adams Elementary in Ypsilanti (the italicized paragraph was written by the class, and everything following was written by me.

And as a warning, I must admit that in finishing the story, there were no guidelines or limits to what we could write about.

Momzilla was a Momster who had green, crazy hair. Most of the time she was a regular mom, but when she saw danger, she turned into a monster. When she was a monster, her eyes were black, her face turned red, and she looked a hundred-and-eighty-nine years old; when she was a mom, she was young.

Momzilla’s best friend was a ghoul named Awesomness, but everyone called him Champ. He had special powers, like being able to shoot fireballs from his eyes and lasers from his teeth. His body was covered in spikes. Because of the spikes, Champ often wore pillows all over his body so that he could hug his friends, like Momzilla.

Momzilla and Champ lived across the hall from each other in the same apartment complex in Las Vegas. The Haunted Apartment Complex of the Living Dead looked like a beautiful luxury hotel from the inside, but from the outside it was covered in chains and looked terrifying.

One night, Momzilla and Champ were cooking their favorite dinner together: eyeballs, guts, and spaghetti.

“We’ve got lots of food here,” Momzilla said. “Maybe we should invite that evil peanut butter and jelly sandwich over for dinner because he hates eyeballs, guts, and spaghetti and only eats cold milk.”

“Why should we invite that evil PB&J over?” Champ asked.

“I don’t know if we should. It was just an idea,” Momzilla responded. “I was thinking we could poison him with kindness so that he can’t hurt people anymore.”

Momzilla got on the phone and called the sandwich and invited him over for dinner.

Twenty minutes later, the sandwich arrived. PJ’s nickname was kitten and he had a milk superpower. he was nutritious, but diabolical. He was constantly in a bad mood because he was made out of bread, and he hated bread.

“Come on in,” Momzilla said. “Champ and I made a wonderful dinner that we would like to share with you.”

Kitten cautiously entered Momzilla’a apartment, helped himself to a tall class of Kool-Aid, and took a seat at the table. “What are we having for dinner?” he asked.

“Oh, I’ve whipped up a special batch of my favorite meal: eyeballs, guts, and spaghetti, with an extra special ingredient,” The Momster replied.

Even though Kitten hated those items, he wanted to be gracious guest, so he decided to eat it anyway. Not more than two bites in, Kitten’s face started to expand like a balloon, and zits starting bubbling up and exploding puss everywhere. Within a matter of minutes, Kitten the evil PB&J exploded, covering the room in a gooey, peanut buttery and jellyish mess.

“Crap!” yelled Momzilla and Champ simultaneously.

A few days later Kitten’s obituary showed up in the newspaper. It read:

Kitten the evil PB&J was brutally murdered on Oct. 17, 2009, in Momzilla’s apartment. Toxicology reports showed that he had been poisoned with kindness. The Momster admitted that she had poisoned him in attempts to make him not so evil. Little did the Momster know, however, that the EPB&J was deathly allergic to the poison she use.

The Momster and her accomplice Champ have been found guilty of the highest degree of murder in the Court of Public Opinion and have been sentenced to death by firing squad. Their remains will be fed to crocodiles at the local zoo the day after tomorrow.

A memorial service will be held for Kitten at Steve’s Family Funeral Home, LLC. on Oct. 31, 2009. The burial will follow at P. Pan’s Cemetary.

Kitten is survived by his wife and 19 children.

But an emu… seen on Vermont Barn Census adventures.

It looked mean. There was more than one. They were organized. We left.

So I finally made it to an Ypsi City City Council Meeting and wow, what a great time it was.

OK. I lied. Next to a certain EMU professor, who shall rename nameless, attempting to teach, I feel the City Council is made up of some of the most cynical people I have ever witnessed speak.

I showed up to City Hall about 45 minutes early to get a decent seat and write down a few notes before the meeting began. Unfortunately, I found all of the doors to the hall to be locked and no sign reporting a canceled meeting. In a fever, I spent about 20 minutes trying to reach somebody, anybody, that worked for the city to find out whether the meeting was still going on.

With no prevail, I found myself flustered, locked out of City Hall and with no sign of the building open up anytime soon. So I decided to do the next best thing: cross the street and hit up Haab’s happy hour: $2 pints and $2 select appetizers. Not 20 minutes later, I had slammed two pints of Arbor Brewing Company’s Brassiere Blonde and indulged myself in a delicious shrimp cocktail. By the time I finished, City Hall was alive and thriving with City Council members, concerned citizens and a film crew from Ypsilanti Citizen, streaming the meeting live online.

Everything was going swell during the until Ordinance No. 1114 was brought to the table. As per the agenda, this was “An ordinance to allow Bee Keeping in the City of Ypsilanti.”

I think that’s great. Ypsi already allows chickens, so why not bees?

There were a few City Council members that had some genuine concerns about bee keeping. To be brief: certain members would like to see, like with the chickens, a bee registration; and other members were concerned about who would be liable if a bee stung somebody, the bee keeper or the City?

OK. I can understand how to register a chicken: you put a tag on its leg with a registration number on it and call it good, and I can even get on board with registering a bee hive. But how the heck are you going to register each individual bee in a hive of up to approximately 20,000 bees?

And about the liability thing, I can understand the concern and not wanting to be held liable for bees that aren’t mine but here’s my rebuttal: 1. Without registering each bee individually, how do you know if it belongs to Jenny from the Block, Joe Schmoe from Kokomo or is just a wild bee? 2. Bees still live naturally in the wild and it’s not unusual for people to get stung by wild bees. Wild chickens, however, are much, much more rare, especially in Ypsilanti, Mich., and if a rouge chicken was running around the streets, unlike a bee, somebody would care enough to notice.

Based on my City Council experience I have once again had one belief of mine reconfirmed: Some people, now matter what position they hold in life, can be really, really dumb.

I left immediately after the bee conversation ended a few minutes after 9 p.m. and was glad I did. I heard the meeting went on well past 11 p.m. and over 1.5 hours was spent talking about snow removal. In the future,  know I’ll be attending more City Council meetings, regardless of the bad taste this one left in my mouth. But for right now, I’ve lost a little bit of respect for the collective intelligence  of Ypsi City Council.
