What’s next?

The bHip Energy Drink

bHip is a new breed of ‘healthy’ energy delivered ‘naturally’

without the harmful effects of artificial caffeine, stimulants, or by-products.

You can buy bHip today by simply ordering bHip through bHipgl.com

bHip Energy Drink Ingredients

Calories: 24

The average American’s caloric intake varies anywhere from 2,000 – 4,000 daily. The bottom line with calories is simply, if you eat more calories than you expend, you will gain body fat and weight. In 1909 Americans ate mostly (57%) carbohydrates (starches) and 32% fat. In 1985 we were eating mostly fats (43%) and less carbohydrates (46%). That trend had reversed itself by 1994 and we were once again eating more carbohydrates (51%) and less fat (33%). Americans challenge today is that they spend too much time sedentary while continuing to eat as if they lead an active lifestyle. The end result is an every increasingly obese nation, plagued with heart disease, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome and other avoidable disorders.

Calories 12 Oz Coca-Cola = 155 | Calories 12 Oz Pepsi = 150

A Energy Drink from bHip, can greatly assist in providing

a pure source of energy with minimal calorie intake.

Fiber: 1 gram

An average person should consume approximately 20 – 40 grams of fiber per day. Fiber is the indigestible carbohydrate found in plant cell walls and is either soluble or insoluble. Soluble fiber acts like a gel and insoluble fiber ads bulk to or softens stool. A healthy fiber intake can be achieved by eating fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains. On a side note, when eating whole grains, increase your fluid intake as insoluble fiber absorbs fluid from your intestines.

1 gram of fiber per bHIP Energy Drink is a great addition to one’s daily fiber intake.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 300 mg

The U.S. RDA for ascorbic acid ranges between 100–120 mg/per day for adults. Many health benefits have been attributed to ascorbic acid such as antioxidant, anti-atherogenic, anti-carcinogenic, immunomodulator and prevention of colds, etc. Stress, smoking, alcoholism, fever, and viral infections cause a rapid decline in blood levels of ascorbic acid. There is no scientific evidence to show that even very large doses of vitamin C are toxic or exert serious adverse health effects.

Higher levels of Vitamin C are needed when under environmental stress such as trauma, fever, or infection. Full saturation is reached with daily intakes of 200-500 mg per day (in 2-3 divided doses). This is a water-soluble protein, and anything in excess is excreted by the body.

Niacin (Niacinamide) 40 mg

The U.S. RDA for niacin is 20 milligrams per day. Niacin, a water-soluble vitamin, helps the body release energy from protein, fat, and carbohydrate during metabolism.

Special Note Regarding ‘Niacin Flush’:
Niacin, by nature, is a great way of reducing your cholesterol. Many over-the-counter cholesterol medications include high does of niacin, among other ingredients. One effect that may arise from ingesting supplement niacin is what’s called ‘niacin flush’.

Niacin causes the capillaries (small blood vessels) in your body to get wider (bigger). The capillaries are usually extremely small, and blood passes through them very slowly. The inherent problem with this is that capillaries are the main way for your body to rid itself of toxins. Your arteries, in comparison, are much larger than capillaries and can carry more blood and at a faster rate, but they do not come near the majority of your body. Arteries are the “highways” of your body, and capillaries are more like the small town road that you exit off of the highway from in order to get to your house. Your house, in this example, would be a cell somewhere in a remote part of your body that is full of toxins. Without sufficient blood flow (oxygen and everything that comes along with it), this cell cannot rid itself of its toxins. Now, imagine your city widening the road that leads by your house — the traffic would increase. The same is true for your capillaries. They will carry more blood – at a faster rate. The end result is that your cells now have more blood to rid themselves of toxins throughout your body as the capillaries get wider.

How does this relate to niacin flush? Niacin causes the capillaries to get bigger, and the end result is the “flush”. The increase in size of your capillaries causes, in some cases, a redness on your skin in the areas that it is occurring. This is the first part of niacin flush. The second reaction of niacin flush is the tingling and occasional itch that comes along with it. This itch is actually a healthy response. The reason you are experiencing this itch is because the niacin has allowed more blood to reach your cells to remove toxins from them. As toxins are carried away and your cell becomes healthier, it is finally able to “call” your body for help. Your body responds by sending what is called a histamine to the cell. Histamines cause you to itch, but they also allow your body to send more water, blood, and nutrients to the area that called them.

In summary, niacin flush is actually a very healthy reaction from your body. You shouldn’t be alarmed when you get it; actually the very opposite – it means your body is healing itself. You’ll notice that after a certain dosage of niacin, eventually you will not receive the niacin flush any longer. Once you up the dosage, you may experience it again. Your doctor can recommend a good healthy dosage for you.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 20 mg

The U.S. RDA varies between 1.3 mg and 2.0 mg, depending upon age and gender. Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that exists in three major chemical forms: pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine. It performs a wide variety of functions in your body and is essential for your good health. For example, vitamin B6 is needed for more than 100 enzymes involved in protein metabolism. It is also essential for red blood cell metabolism. The nervous and immune systems need vitamin B6 to function efficiently, and it is also needed for the conversion of tryptophan (an amino acid) to niacin.

Hemoglobin within red blood cells carries oxygen to tissues. Your body needs vitamin B6 to make hemoglobin. Vitamin B6 also helps increase the amount of oxygen carried by hemoglobin. A vitamin B6 deficiency can result in a form of anemia that is similar to iron deficiency anemia.

Individuals with a poor quality diet or an inadequate B6 intake for an extended period may benefit from taking a vitamin B6 supplement if they are unable to increase their dietary intake of vitamin B6. Alcoholics and older adults are more likely to have inadequate vitamin B6 intakes than other segments of the population because they may have limited variety in their diet. Alcohol also promotes the destruction and loss of vitamin B6 from the body.

Folic Acid 400 mcg

The U.S. RDA for folate is 400 micrograms per day. Folate is a water-soluble B vitamin that occurs naturally in food. Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate that is found in supplements and added to fortified foods. Folate helps produce and maintain new cells. This is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as infancy and pregnancy. Folate is needed to make DNA and RNA, the building blocks of cells. It also helps prevent changes to DNA that may lead to cancer. Both adults and children need folate to make normal red blood cells and prevent anemia. Folate is also essential for the metabolism of homocysteine and helps maintain normal levels of this amino acid.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 120 mcg

The U.S. RDA for vitamin B-12 is 6 micrograms per day. Vitamin B12 helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells. It is also needed to help make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin because it contains the metal cobalt.

Vitamin B12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases vitamin B12 from proteins in foods during digestion. Once released, vitamin B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF). This complex can then be absorbed by the intestinal tract. Characteristic signs, symptoms, and health problems associated with vitamin B12 deficiency include anemia, fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, and weight loss. Deficiency also can lead to neurological changes such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additional symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are difficulty in maintaining balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.

Vitamin B12 is required by the body to maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. B12 is one of eight water soluble B vitamins all of which help the body convert carbohydrates into glucose (sugar), which is a primary energy source for the body. Vitamin B12 also works closely with vitamin B9 to regulate the formation of red blood cells and to help iron function better in the body.

Sodium 10 mg

The US sodium RDA 2400 mg. bHIP Energy Drink has a very low level of sodium.

Americans consume far too much sodium, putting them at risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Sodium is used to regulate blood volume and blood pressure. Sodium aids in the transmission of nerve impulses and is used to help regulate the acid/base balance in the body. Common signs of excess sodium include high blood pressure, fluid retention, and swelling. About 11 percent of the sodium in the average U.S. diet comes from adding salt or other sodium-containing condiments to foods while cooking or eating. But the majority of the sodium — 77 percent — comes from eating prepared or processed foods that contain the mineral. So even though you may limit the amount of salt you add to food, the food itself may already be high in sodium.

A lower sodium intake has a beneficial effect on blood pressure.

If you are older than 50, are black, or have a health condition such as high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, or diabetes, you may be more sensitive to the blood pressure raising effects of sodium. As a result, aim for a sodium intake at the low end of the range recommended for healthy adults.

Amino Acids

The 20 amino acids are alanine, arginine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, and valine.

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. The sequence of amino acids in a protein and, hence, the function of that protein are determined by the genetic code in the DNA.

Malic Acid

Malic acid is a naturally occurring compound that plays a role in the complex process of deriving adenosine triphosphate (ATP; the energy currency that runs the body) from food. Malic acid is found in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, but the richest source is apples, which is why malic acid is sometimes referred to as “apple acid.”

Guarana

Guarana extract is derived from the seeds of a small red fruit grown on large shrubs found in the Brazilian Rain Forest.

Guarana is one of several energy producing ingredients and contains a substance known as theobromine, which is similar in chemical composition to the molecules found in chocolate. This is a natural occurring caffeine and gives a very nice, level, non-jittery energy. bHIP is a natural formula that works faster, lasts longer, and is healthier for you.

One of the main ingredients in guarana extract is a form of caffeine called guaranine. Unlike caffeine, guaranine is slow to release and doesn’t give the initial quick burst of energy and then the quick let-down. Since the seed is fatty and not water-soluble, it is not quick to absorb in the body, so the energy boost will escalate over a number of hours instead of all at once. This makes the active ingredients in guarana more beneficial for the body. Guarana extract is reported to increase mental alertness, help to fight fatigue, and increase stamina and endurance. Millions of people believe it also helps to overcome fatigue, helps to fight against premature aging, and detoxifies the blood. In the United States, guarana holds a “Generally Regarded As Safe” (GRAS) status from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A 1998 toxicology study showed that guarana is nontoxic even at a dose of 2 grams of guarana per kilogram of body weight.

Green Tea Leaf Extract

Rich in polyphenols, which contain potent anti-oxidant and anti-cancer properties; helps protect against cancer; lowers cholesterol levels; reduces the clotting tendency of the blood; stimulates the immune system; helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels; combats mental and physical fatigue; helps prevent atherosclerosis; prevents an enlarged prostate; used in weight-loss programs.

Ginseng Root Extract

Ginseng is one the best known and widely prescribed herbs in Chinese medicine as a general adaptogenic and restorative tonic for just about any problem. Approximately 29 ginsenocides, known by their scientific name “tripterpenoid saponins” and also sometimes called panaxosides, have been identified in ginseng root. These ginsenocides have been demonstrated to have a powerful function as an adaptogen, invaluable in helping the body adapt to and recover from the effects of stress, disease, and fatigue. They also contain a strong anti-oxidant component that has been shown in clinical studies to aid in combating the effects of aging. Additionally, saponins are analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant, and a regulator of blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels, and blood pressure. Ginseng also contains several steroid compounds, including panaxtriol. The steroid components contained in ginseng are remarkably similar to anabolic steroids found naturally in the human body. While this makes ginseng root ideal for athletes and body builders looking for safe natural alternatives to anabolic steroid use, it is considered wise for pregnant women to avoid prolonged ginseng use. However, it is recommended to women for treatment of post-menopausal symptoms. Recently it has been discovered that germanium is also a component of whole ginseng root, which has a powerful dehydrogenating effect and is considered beneficial and essential to proper bodily function, especially in organs such as the liver.

Maca Root Extract

Maca is considered by researchers to be a true ‘adaptogen’. An adaptogen is a substance which raises the non-specific resistance in an organism. Adaptogens enable the body to enhance its power of resistance and adapt to external conditions. They work with the bodies natural rhythms to help rebuild week immune systems, re-mineralize poorly nourished bodies, and increase energy and endurance.

Some reported benefits of maca include: Increased energy and endurance; Improved sexual function in men and women; aids in alleviating depression, gives a sense of well being, reduces anxiety; has a beneficial action on the circulatory system; speeds wound healing and reduces anemia; has a beneficial action on the circulatory system; gives skin a more youthful appearance.

Quebracho Extract

A powerful anti-oxidant.

White Willow Bark Extract

White willow bark is used for conditions that cause pain, inflammation, or fever, such as: Acute back pain, fever, flu, joint pain, osteoarthritis, pain. People take white willow bark instead of aspirin because it does not appear to be as irritating to the stomach lining. It may be because the salicin found naturally in white willow bark is only converted to the acid form after it is absorbed by the stomach. Researchers have also suggested that white willow bark is more effective than aspirin because of other active compounds that are found in the bark but not the drug.

Acai Berry Extract

The predominant beneficial substances in the acai berry are polyphenols, flavonoids, mostly of the anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins categories. The dark purple skin of the acai berry has many times the anthocyanin content as red wine. The acai berry has shown powerful anti-oxidant properties and also contains two essential fatty acids known as Omega 6 (Linoleic Acid) and Omega 9 (Oleic Acid). Research shows that Omega 6 helps lower LDL, which is the harmful cholesterol. Omega 9 fatty acids also assist in lowering LDL while assisting in maintaining HDL (beneficial cholesterol) levels.

Aloe Vera Concentrate

Aloe Vera “extract” is made by pulverizing the whole leaves of the plant. It contains essential oils, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes and glycoproteins. As a food supplement, aloe is said to facilitate the process of digestion, aid in blood and lymphatic circulation, as well as improving kidney, liver and gall bladder functions.

Aloe contains at least three anti-inflammatory fatty acids that are helpful for the stomach, small intestine and colon. It naturally alkalizes digestive juices to prevent over acidity which is a common cause of indigestion. It also helps cleanse the digestive tract by exerting a soothing, cleansing effect. A newly discovered compound in aloe, acemannan, is currently being studied for its ability to strengthen the bodies natural resistance. Studies have shown acemannan to boost T-lymphocyte cells that aid the immune system.

Variety Juice Extracts / Stevia Leaf Extract

Provides a delicious berry flavor ‘naturally’ without the immense documented negative health effects from artificial sweeteners including Aspartame, Saccharin, Splenda, and others.

Some doctors are concluding that drinking too many energy drinks may eventually cause heart problems because of the amount of boost the heart gets from the excessive usage of them. With the energy drinks on the market today reaching levels of 360mg of caffeine there’s no wonder many energy drinks like Red Bull have been banned in countires when there have been cases of teenagers drinking a energy drink before a basketball game and then later dying from heart failure.

Physical and mental effects come from drinking energy drinks in excess, like insomnia. anxiety, and sometimes muscle twitching have been seen in adults who drink too many. In the local bar scene energy drinks are used as a mixer with alcohol and this is very bad for the body because alcohol is a downer whereas a energy drink is designed to perk you up, so having conflicting beverages causes one to think you need more to drink as well as causing dehydration which is caused by both alcohol and energy drinks.

So, what’s your favorite energy drink?

KonaRed has just launched a new all natural Energy Shot beverage made with KonaRed Coffee Fruit. In a departure from the artificially flavored and colored highly caffeinated Energy Drinks flooding the market, KonaRed Energy Shots are made from KonaRed Coffee Fruit hydrosol liquid extract, cinnamon hydrosol extract, certified organic Maui Sugar, and water from Maui’s Haleakala volcano. These simple ingredients include 5 top tier phenolic acids including chlorogenic acid and caffeic acids: antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties, ferulic acid with very high reactivity towards reactive oxygen species, quinic acid with anti-viral properties, and trigonelline with anti-bacterial properties.

The main ingredient in each shot, KonaRed Coffee Fruit Liquid Extract, contains only trace amounts of caffeine because this antioxidant rich superfood is made not from the highly caffeinated bean, but from the anthocyanin rich fruit skin and pulp of the coffee cherry, and pure volcanic spring water filtered through thousands of feet of rock. Each conveniently sized 2-ounce shot contains only 20 calories per serving, and 5 grams of carbohydrate. The KonaRed Coffee Fruit Liquid Extract used in the Energy Shot has an ORAC value of 97,500 per 100 grams, significantly higher than any other fruit that has been discovered.

“As we researched a healthy energy boosting supplement we realized that 99% of the products on the market contain high levels of synthetic compounds manufactured by chemical companies. They get their energy boost by a combination of synthetically derived caffeine and other chemicals that are not well understood and have not been thoroughly tested by use over hundreds of years.” According to CEO Shaun Roberts, “We developed the KonaRed Energy Shots with a natural by nature mix of top grade all natural ingredients and nutrients, it is a healthy rather than toxic product for your body.”

The energy and mood boost comes from the antioxidant activity of these ingredients, and does not have the same jittery feelings followed by come down associated with most energy shots. As part of KonaRed’s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship each energy shot is packaged in environmentally friendly recyclable glass.

Visit KonaRed.com now for more information on the full line of KonaRed products including liquid hydrosol extracts and whole and freeze dried fruit powders.

NATURAL HEALTH TRENDS

Natural Health Trends 對

Natural Health Trends
Natural

He was a typical 20 year old college student.
She was a serious runner, bedecked in Nike.
Although his age, she had already
run in the Boston and New York City Marathons.

Both home from college,
in Union Township NJ for Thanksgiving
they had a custom of running together
the Thanksgiving Day 5K Turkey Trot in Flemington,
4,000 runners from 30 States.
For him it was just an opportunity
to be with his girl,
for her, a serious affair.

This would be their third year.
The first two years she had insisted
on not spending the night before at his place
- they were athletes in training –

So last year, after they said goodbye
around 6:30 the night before
he went out drinking with the guys
and came home 5 o’clock in the morning
though she was supposed to pick him up
at 7:30 am.

When she arrived he was still snoring away.
She paced the living room floor of his apartment
while he tried to clean up
throw on some cloths
and a dirty pair of sneakers.

They rushed down Highway 31
and between the crowds near Flemington
she would later complain:

“We were so late
we had to run to the starting line
and just keep running from there.”

So this year, she told him
he could make his own way there.
She would drive with her girlfriend.

Wanting to redeem himself
he had trained for months
shopped at Efinger’s Sporting Goods
in Bound Brook
bought himself a completely new outfit,
and the best of running shoes.

He was ready in Flemington
an hour before she usually planned
for them to arrive,
sat in The Great Lodge Coffee Shop,
relaxed with an energy drink
taking in the scene on Main Street
through the large plate glass windows.

Then he actually warmed up,
did some stretching exercises
in which he never believed.
When he spied her at the scorer’s table
getting her entry number
he walked up, his number already snuggly affixed
to his cotton shirt, wondering whether she
would notice the new doo, which she did.

She speculated whether he had done this just for her,
now so curious her first words were:
“Have you been here long?”
although she dreaded the answer
since she noticed that he had
worked up a slight sweat,
had he been warming up?

At the starting line he stood next to her
as was their custom, surrounded
by runners dressed up as turkeys,
ax men, Pilgrims, and a few Indians
although being an Indian
was no longer politically correct.

The starting gun burst
in the brisk Thanksgiving day air
he pacing himself a few steps behind her
as was his practice.
In front of the County Courthouse
he usually fell way back
and last year had actually dropped
right out of the race.

They approached the intersection
just past the front portico
filled with cheering on lookers
and a few dignitaries.
She glanced back and saw that he
was still just a few paces behind.
She turned it up just a little
only to find that he came up abreast of her.

Stride for stride they met each other’s pace
except that he with longer legs
moved out at one point
as much as 15 yards.
He could have stayed there, but eased up,
let her in the last 3/4ths of a mile
cross the finish line with him
and for a moment in exhaustion
fell into each other’s arms.

When they married the June following graduation
they each wore their running shoes from that day -
he with his tuxedo
and her below her wedding gown.

We are excited to announce our soon to be released, brand-new Healthy Energy Drink – Xe. As the world’s only energy drink containing the antioxidant power of cacao, Xe also features açaí and 12 other superfruits, all proven to provide healthy and sustainable energy. Xe creates natural energy by including proven ingredients like Theobromine, Maca, Ginseng, Quercetin, Yerba Mate and Guarana — all-natural energy sources. Xe is impressive for what it contains. Just as important is what it does not contain: no added refined sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, no added caffeine, no harsh stimulants, no added synthetics, and no ingredient names you can’t pronounce. Xe has an all-natural ingredient formula for unrivaled energy.

Watch for the addition of this great, new, all-natural energy drink on our website, http://www.BaileysHealthStore.com. We will also post an announcement on this blog when it is available.

Advertisements are a form of communication that is used to persuade consumers to purchase a product.

Advertisements are a form of communication that is used to persuade consumers to purchase a product. Advertisements form part of every marketing plan of a product or service and takes on different forms as technology increases. The costs vary and while some may be expensive, companies invest a lot of energy and monies in getting them right the first time. Most large businesses do not develop advertisements on their own but contract agencies to perform that aspect of the job. We cannot deny the immense power advertisements have on a potential market and will not underestimate the powers they may have over a particular group of people.

As marketers, we have to be very careful with the messages we send with an advert. In that, when you create an advertisement you have to ensure that are not violating rights and also not discriminating against any group among others while at the same time accomplish other objectives. Advertising executives with their creative teams must ensure that these advertisements do not offend a group and that to me is the most important factor to be considered when creating advertisements.

The Jamaican market is not an educated one and that is no excuse to produce adverts that are not fashionable, full of taste and ones that are refined. Recently, over a year there have been advertising campaigns promoting energy drinks. Of course in a sexualized country like Jamaica, sex doesn’t only sell it is embedded in everything we hear and see. This is not to say that this does not exist in other markets and are with other products or services but it exist in a raunchy way.

In this post I have decided to analyze two advertisements that promote a similar product. Both are energy drinks but the company has decided to highlight the feature where it assumes to help someone’s sexual drive. Nothing is wrong with that, some people need the help and are grateful for such but it shouldn’t be done in a distasteful way that offends groups especially when the ad is booked to be seen by children.

The first video below is the product called Magnum. They released this video maybe over a year ago and had the tag line “a mus di magnum inna him” which translates in English to mean “It’s the magnum in him”. The advertisement depicts a couple in a bedroom. The woman slips in the bathroom to take a break apparently from the hot sexual experience. Overall the advertisement although sexy is tame to some extent not giving much away, leaving much to your imagination. Watch below.

The other product called Mandingo is another energy drink which promises to assist you with your sexual abilities in the bedroom. On the streets Jamaicans combine this product with beers to make a stronger drink which even heightens your ability in the bedroom – so they say! This advert however, is very trashy, offending and is distasteful in every way. This advertisement should not have been approved with the extreme and over the top sexiness. This advertisement is shown when families sit to watch television on any given evening. In posting the videos I have decided to post the first Mandingo commercial.

I am not amazed with the production of some advertisements in Jamaica. I know people who create advertisements for major international companies here and they have no experience in marketing only a connection and network. It is sad because they give others in the field a bad name because of their poor reputation. My favourite video above is the first one – I must say. The female talent in the advertisement is very convincing, and she does a great job by not being over the top – just safe. However, the female talent in the second video who is a popular porn star is very raunchy, sick and unappealing. The second Mandingo commercial is so in your face and it makes it blah. Nothing to aspire to be or anything left to the viewer’s imagination. Anyway, that’s Jamaica advertising for you. Don’t get me wrong we have great ads too.

We couldn’t end on a bad note, so I decided to post an advertisement from Japan. It is an energy drink and just watch how sexual abilities doesn’t play a role in the advert. We know Japanese to be hardworking and ambitious people-they accomplished just that in the advertisement.

Ever since energy drinks caught the bogan’s eye at about the turn of the century, the Coca-Col

Ever since energy drinks caught the bogan’s eye at about the turn of the century, the Coca-Cola company has wanted in. Brands like Red Bull and V had figured out how to reduce the can size by a third, put more caffeine in, and charge twice as much. This is commonly referred to as “marketing genius”. Due to their terrible understanding of the things that bogans like, Coca-Cola’s attempt to gain traction in this lucrative area failed again and again. First came “Lift Plus” in 2000, which was a spin-off of an established brand, put into a slim can. This didn’t sell well, so they decided to do the exact same thing a couple of years later, but call it “Sprite Recharge”. Unsurprisingly, the bogan remained unmoved. The company then launched “Burn” in 2003, a slim 250ml beverage with minimal “extremeness”. Fail.

In 2007, evidence emerged that Coca-Cola’s inept marketing department was getting closer to understanding the bogan. Accompanied by a $15 million advertising campaign, they launched “Mother”. The can was covered in tribal tattoos, had an aggressive font, and the name of the product allowed the bogan to make endless jokes such as “I’ve got your mother in my mouth lol”. Despite these improving lures, the bogan did not like the taste, and there was still something missing. It failed.

The next product launch worked, even though they only repackaged the Mother brand. Why? They reverted the taste to one of their previous unsuccessful attempts, and kept the tattooed aggressive can design. They slightly upped the obnoxiousness of the rhetoric, including phrases such as “our lame legal guys made us warn you”, which appeals to the bogan’s desire to break all the rules of the educated class. However, the thing that caused the success was the doubling of the can from a slender 250ml to a hulking 500ml. At the end of the day, the new bogan wants the widest TV, the loudest jet ski, and the biggest bicep. It will often overlook all other details of a product, and prioritise sheer size.

Coca-Cola could then rest easy, knowing that there were thousands of bogans walking the streets fingering an oversized mother. Indeed, it has been so successful, that both V and Red Bull have launched larger cans to defend their market share. Speaking of massive cans, bogans love enormous breasts, too.

For which purposes DOES the bogan need such a huge amount of energy?

Before a night out, or when I’m just not feeling the coffee, I like to indulge in energy drink

Before a night out, or when I’m just not feeling the coffee, I like to indulge in energy drinks. I know, I know, they’re not good for you and all that, but I genuinely enjoy them. I’m going to review six of the ones you’re all likely familiar with, and reveal which one is my favorite on all fronts, and why. Some of these drinks are offered in different flavors, but I’m strictly reviewing their basic original versions.

Monster Energy

The Monster Energy drink is typically found in a larger can that’s 16 oz. The monster can looks pretty cool. It’s got a slimy green M on it. Monster Energy also receives a large amount of recognition from its sponsorship of various sporting events in the United States. The 16 ounce can of Monster Energy has 160 oz of caffeine and costs around $3.00. Monster Energy reminds me of the flavor of Rocket Candy. It’s a little on the sweet side with a hint of medicine taste. It’s also quite carbonated. Ingredients in Monster: Carbonated water, sucrose, glucose, citric acid, taurine, natural flavors, sodium citrate, l-carnitine, panax ginseng root extract, ascorbic acid, caffeine, sodium chloride, niacinamide, riboflavin, guarana seed extract, inositol, glucuronalactone, pyridoxine hydrochloride, cyanobalamin.

Red Bull

Red Bull is of course the original energy drink. It is most commonly offered in an 8oz can, though more recently has begun offering the larger 16oz cans. Red Bull is expensive, but it does give you wings, remember? Its cost is usually around $2.99 for one can. Red Bull also tastes like medicine a bit, but isn’t too too sweet. It has a tang to it, but leaves you with a weird after taste. Red Bull has been banned in some places for having traces of cocaine in it. Red Bull has 80 mg of caffeine in it, and here are its other ingredients: Taurine , Glucuronolactone, B-Group Vitamins, Sucrose, and Glucose. Their website does not offer any other ingredients than that.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is another brand of energy drink that’s usually only available in a 16oz can. Full Throttle is made by Coca Cola and usually costs between $2.50 and $3.50 depending on when and where. The taste of Full throttle is similar to Red Bull, but does not leave you with a weird after taste. Nor does it taste like medicine to me. It has a good balance between sweet and sour. Full Throttle’s 16oz can has 144mg of caffeine, which is less than some of the other brands. Here are its other ingredients: Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup and/or sucrose, citric acid, taurine, natural and artificial flavors, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate (to protect taste), ginseng extract, caffeine, acacia, carnitine fumarate, maltodextrin, niacinamide (vitamin B3), glycerol ester of wood rosin, yellow 5, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), guarana extract, cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12).

Red Rain

Red Rain is another energy drink that tries to mimic the original Red Bull. It is also offered in an 8 oz can, and also contains 80mg of caffeine. Although Red Rain fails at mimicking Red Bull’s flavor, it’s a good thing. Red Rain has a really good sour flavor with a hint of sweetness. It’s sort of a cross between Sour Puss and Swedish Berries, if you can imagine that. Red Rain is also exceptionally cheaper than all the other brands mentioned here. I can buy a four-pack at the grocery store or Wal-Mart for $3.99. Red Rain isn’t found everywhere; many convenience and drug stores do not offer it. It does come in bulk packages though, offered in the mentioned 4-pack, a 24-pack or the 1 litre bottle. They also now offer other flavors and a reduced calorie one. Its ingredients are: Taurine 1000mg, D-Glucuronolactone 600mg, Caffeine 80mg, Niacin (niacinaminde) 20mg, Pantothenic Acid (D-calcium pantothenate) 5mg, Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCL) 5mg, Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 5mcg. Carbonated Water,Sugar And/Or Glucose-Fructose, Malic Acid, Sodium Citrate, Natural And Artificial Flavor, Potassium Benzoate, Inosital, and Colour.

Tab Energy

Tab Energy drink is another energy drink offered by Coca Cola. It is a sugar-free drink that has a cherry flavor. Its size is offered in a slim 10.5oz can and it contains 95mg of caffeine. Tab energy is tasty, but I can always taste the aspartame in it because it’s sugar free. It’s also not sold everywhere and seems to have lost popularity. It’s definitely different from the rest, I’ll give it that. Apparently it is targeted towards females with its pink color and lack of calories. According to Wikipedia, this drink is currently being taken off the market by Coca-Cola. Its ingredients are as follows: Carbonated water, citric acid, taurine, natural and artificial flavors, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, ginseng extract, caffeine, vegetable juice, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, carnitine fumarate, niacinamide (Vitamin B3), pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Guarana extract, and cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)

Bawls

Bawls Energy drink definitely stands out from the rest of the brands here because it is offered in a blue glass bottle. A very cool bottle too, it has bumps all over it for better traction. Its name is also quite catchy and funny. Its bottle is 10 fl oz with 64mg of caffeine. The 16 fl oz bottle has 103 mg of caffeine. The flavor of Bawls is very delicious, again not too sweet with the right amount of sour. It’s difficult to find at times and is a little on the expensive side. I think it’s somewhere around $4.00 most places, but this is just a guesstimate. Bawls’ ingredients are as follows: Carbonated Water, Corn Syrup, Citric Acid, Natural Guarana Flavor, Sodium Benzoate (as a preservative), Caffeine, Artificial flavors and Caramel Color.

The grand winner is………….Red Rain.

Why? Well it tastes really good, and it’s so much cheaper than all of the rest. For this, it’s the one that I always flock to. That’s right, Flock. I usually purchase Red Rain in bulk and also enjoy mixing it with Vodka for parties. Unfortunately Red Bull is still the only energy drink available in the bars; at least here in Ottawa. Red Bull really tastes like medicine to me, I just don’t like it. Full Throttle is my second choice, since it’s large for those really tired mornings or for when I was studying for exams. As far as taste goes, I’d say that Bawls has the best flavor, but it doesn’t quite have enough caffeine in it for the effect I need.

Posted on koreamelon.com

Long beforeRed Bull , there was Bacchus-D. Developed by South Korean Dong-A Pharmaceutical over 35 years ago, Bacchus-D is Korea’s #1 sold energy drink. It’s tiny vial contains 2,000 mg of taurine, enough to give you a great boost of energy for that laboring day.

(Source:03-x.com)

It’s a temporary cure for fatigue, and can help before and after being sick with flu, anorexia, dystrophy, and a number of other ailments.

So, how does Bacchus compare with Red Bull? I asked myself this question while I was studying for final exams once. I decided to give them both a try. No, not at the same time! I tried Red Bull an hour just before an important math test. Turned out I was able to concentrate like I never have before and aced that test! It was an amazing feeling. I was full of confidence and stamina. Of course, I studied immensely the night before as well.
