Indonesians are becoming even more confused over President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s speech, during which he was expected to provide a concrete resolution to the scandal involving the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the police and the Attorney General’s Office.

A political analyst and activist from the Indonesian Civilized Circle (Lima), Ray Rangkuti, said on Monday that the speech did not resolve any problems regarding the fiasco.

“He talked for around 35 minutes. The first 29-minutes contained no clear points on how to resolve the case. The last five-minutes of the speech did not provide any resolution to the conflict either,” he told The Jakarta Post.

“The President didn’t make any decisions at all. He did not tell the police to drop the commission’s case. He didn’t state any possible punishments for police and AGO officials involved in the case,” he said.

Rangkuti said the speech did nothing but arouse more public curiosity into whether the President seriously intended to combat corruption.

Yudhoyono won a landslide victory during the presidential election last July with more than 60 percent of the votes, which took him to the second term of administration.

During his campaign, Yudhyono promised to combat corruption if he was re-elected.

The police accused two KPK deputies, Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, of bribery, power abuse and extortion.

The fact-finding team established by the President to provide recommendations on the case concluded that all charges lacked evidence and had many unresolved missing links.

The team had earlier recommended that Yudhoyono punish high-ranking officials in the National Police and the AGO for criminalizing the deputies.

The team also told the President to drop the charges against Bibit and Chandra, take action against those involved in the wiretapped conversation with businessman Anggodo Widjojo and reform the National Police and the AGO.

A wiretapped conversations involving police and AGO officials were recently played for the public at the Constitutional Court.

Anggodo allegedly gave bribes to middleman Ari Muladi, who later denied passing on the money to Bibit and Chandra.

Meanwhile, anti-corruption activists, such as Danang Widoyoko from the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), expressed their apparent disappointment in the President’s cryptic statements by demanding he be replaced.

“His statements were definitely unclear. That is why we call to fight and replace him,” a political communication expert, Effendi Gazali, said as quoted by detik.com news portal.

Vice chairman of the Institute for Democracy and Peace (Setara) Bonar Tigor Naipospos also said he was disappointed with the speech, as it did nothing to resolve the conflict between the KPK, the police and the AGO.

“The speech has risked the government’s legitimacy in its intention to eradicate corruption from the country,” he said.

“The President will not follow the recommendations of the fact-finding team. This will *have* also created confusion among officials from the KPK, the police and the AGO,” he added. (nia

The Choir Conductor’s Objection To Sing

Suppose God asked me a favor: “Sing me one song in a special service as that in the Paulus church.” Then I’d say that I wouldn’t, if it were just for one little song of two minutes as I think of sacrificing my, my members’ time, starting from home 8.00 a.m –2.00 p.m. back home, to provide transportation for my members, to see, to examine, to try the organ, whether it could suit our performance.

I would rather say: “Dear God, ask me for more, for better. We have about thirteen songs ready, we would gladly sing all of them, not just one, though having to sacrifice such a lot or even more. Except we’re not well prepaired. Then would I object Your offer though You would punish me. I don’t care about the service and ceremony. I just enjoy singing with my choir if that is allowed.”

gYm is a special group created under Johnny’s Entertainment with 2 Thai singers and one Japanese. We have the members Golf & Mike and Yamashita Tomohisa of NewS. Golf and Mike are 2 Thai brothers who signed under Johnny’s Entertainment to promote themselves in Japan. gYm is made as a volleyball support for the volleyball team. They have this one single Fever to Future. Mike is soooo handsome and cute.!!

This group also reached their peak in their time of fame.This is the 1st JE group to become volleyball supporters. This was also the 1st JE group to have sub-groups. 20th Century is composed of the elder members namely Sakamoto, Inohara, and Hiroshi. The other sub-group Coming Century is composed of the younger members Ken, Go, and Junichi.

TegoMass is a special group as well. The group is composed of the 2 vocals of NewS Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa. Their group name is obviously a mash-up of their surnames. TegoMass is somehow also considered a sub-group of NewS and the group debuted in the middle of NewS’s hiatus. The special group was made to promote the agency in Switzerland and so they released a English single entitled Miso Soup. Later on they also released the Japanese version of it. They also sang OST’s of anime’s such as Lovely Complex. These boys are just pure heaven!

Yes, we speak english now!

I was thinking for a while whether I should or shouldn’t keep an english version of the traditional portuguese Formula UK. After giving it months of thoughts, I reached a conclusion: the best thing to do was far from simply writing english versions of the original posts. As the demands, interests and needs of an international community far difeers from the needs of a single one (the brazilians, in that case), I chose to make, whenever possible, two completely different blogs.

As you will soon find out, Formula UK is not just about F-1 and motorsport, even though it is our main course. So, to suit all tastes, this english version of the blog will talk about things that you won’t find in the brazilian version, and vice-versa. The F-1 posts, however, will most of the time be identical. Fair enough?

So, welcome to the english side of the Formula UK. Your motorsports blog (and a hell lot more)!

«I have no problem with my fridge because it doesn’t want to talk with me. If it would like to be a friend of mine, then it would be more complicated». Technological dreams about a man-machine dialogue have filled up sci-fi books, movies and essays. But Donald Norman has the definitive answer: stop trying. He clears it up in his last book: «The Design of Future Things», published by Apogeo. While he speaks about style and science, he reports current politics, communication and society.

Norman has a very long career. He teaches psychology as well as IT. He has been a top manager at Apple and HP, founded communication companies which deal with making hi-tech gadgets easier to use. He has also been teaching at Mit, one of the most important research universities in the world.

He’s in Italy at the moment: he met students at the College of Architecture in Alghero last thursday. On saturday he will be in Turin at Piemonte Share Festival, organized by sci-fi writer Bruce Sterling. Norman is not surprised to see cyberpunk authors and new technology teaching fellows sitting at the same table.

Factories have already released intelligent machines. They can recognize risks and warn who is driving. If a GPS satellite navigator asks you some questions and helps you to find a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, communication is okay «because I’m in control – Norman says -. That is when technology acts as an assistant, not as a friend. But an advanced dialogue will not make any sense until machines will not have achieved human experience. This is why the only one solution is to stop trying. For the time being, tools need to become more flexible, and give us the chance to choose». His blue eyes observe every object while he speaks. He grabs recorders, looks for buttons, takes a look at their features. And detects origins. German brand, american line, japanese company.

Therefore you find out desing can show quite much of a country. Norman believes italian style is the most refined in the world, even if designers make objects which are impossible to use. He used to say it more than ten years ago, he confirms it today. Companies have been recruiting creative people all over the world, and a final judgement would be a forced conclusion. Nevertheless, his idea of italian designers still remains the same, and reflects the ruling class: «Your politicians are so italian». They mainly personify the faults: they still look for a way out in order not to comply with the rules, ideate complex projects which are useless in everyday life. «It is exactly what is happening in the Unites States. Our president is like most americans: stupid and confident about using force if you want to win».

Skepticism is Norman’s glove to touch everything he comes across. His disenchanted vision of the present downsized many miths. «There’s a simple answer for every problem – he usually says – but generally it is wrong». This is why he disagree whit those who believe technology can meet any human need.  «New things come to life only because someone has been able to invent them. We are never ready to change. Trains caused hundreds of victims: locomotives used to explode, bridges collapsed. Technology bothers at the beginning. It’s an evolutionary process. We need to change the way we relate to new tools, but they still change our lives».

The revolution was already in action when the entire world came in our houses through the Internet.  At the moment, the web is crowded by social networks: services helping people to keep in touch with friends or groups who share the same interest. Twitter and Facebook let netsurfers meet online, send instant messages to their contacts, or simply be found everywhere. Donald Norman doesn’t think it is a big change. «We have always been living in a network. It is a relationship net which let us feel protected. Tools and dimensions have changed. If you have 250 friends on Facebook, it doesn’t mean you know them all. And this is not a new phonomenon».

Byproducts show when one spends more time in their virual life that in the real world. Generally users are splitted: young people become geek and don’t wonder how it works. Adults go crazy with microchips and megabytes because they try to understand them. Savvy is the solution, especially by who develops softwares and high technologies. This is what Norman is asking young designers: «I would like them to be more sensitive to people, and to think about those who will use their tools».

You needed to read some huge manuals before switching on a computer twenty years ago. Companies try to make it easier today. Sometimes results don’t hit the mark. Objects lose their function, sometimes they take on a new one. Donald Norman likes to list them. «I have a wonderful squeezer. But I’ve put it in my living room, not in my kitchen. It is made to be looked at. And I also have an automatic coffee machine. I press a button and then I find it all set. The morning is the best moment to leave intelligence to the machines».

Ketika Mongol menyerbu Asia Tengah antara tahun 1215 dan 1220, sebuah keluarga melakukan perjalanan ke barat. Di tengah perjalanan, mereka bertemu dengan Fariduddin Attar, seorang tokoh besar sufi dan penyair mistik Persia. Attar takjub melihat anak lelaki bernama Rumi yang baru berusia 5 tahun, dan meramalkan bahwa si kecil itu kelak akan menjadi tokoh spiritual besar. Sejarah kemudian mencatat, ramalan Fariduddin itu tidak meleset. Dalam pertemuan singkat itu, Attar memberikan Rumi kecil sebuah buku bernama Asrarnama, sebuah buku tentang keterikatan jiwa di dunia materi. Kelak, perjumpaan agung itu menjadi inspirasi besar bagi karya-karya Rumi.

Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi Lahir di Balkh, Afghanistan pada 604 H atau 30 September 1207.Ia adalah seorang penyair sufi yang berpengaruh pada zamannya. Di zaman kini, puisi-puisinya telah banyak dikagumi dan diterjemahkan ke dalam banyak bahasa di dunia. Tahun 2007, dia dinobatkan sebagai penyair paling populer di Amerika. Karya-karyanya tak henti diterjemahkan, memberi inspirasi pada banyak bidang pemikiran dan kesenian; dalam kesenian, salah satunya  puisi-puisi Rumi dalam musik Deepak Chopra bersama Madonna, Goldie Hawn, Philip Glass dan Demi Moore, dll.

Pada tanggal 5 Jumadil Akhir 672 H atau 17 Desember 1273 dalam usia 68 tahun, Rumi dipanggil ke Rahmatullah. Ribuan pengagumnnya berdesak-desakan mengantar kepergiannya. Malam wafatnya Rumi dikenal sebagai Sebul Arus (Malam Penyatuan). Semua umat berbeda agama mengantar jenazahnya ke pemakamannya. “Kepada Nya, kita semua akan kembali” ungkap sebaris puisi Rumi. Orang-orang bisa melihat dalam nisan Rumi tertulis: Ketika kita mati, tidak mencari makam kita di bumi, tetapi menemukannya dalam hati manusia… Maka kita pun masih mengenang Rumi, lewat karya-karyanya.
