My first contribution to the compelling story of Enterprise 2.0

I have noticed there are two emerging variations on Enterprise 2.0.

The easiest to see is an end to the corporate intranet as we know it today. Products like SuiteTwo and Blogtronix promise to bring the concepts of Web 2.0 to business. Internal networking (‘Workster’ instead of Friendster), corporate blogging, enterprise wiki, tagging, RSS…these will be the tools of business in the near future.

The other type of Enterprise 2.0 is focused more on the links between companies (I haven’t yet heard a good term for it). I have found a few examples of this out there so far, but they are limited in scope. One has yet to be released, HooversConnect. The other is Spoke, which seems to have a clear market lead in the business-to-business prospecting (sales, marketing and recruiting) (and working with Salesforce.com).

Let’s call this 2nd type “Enterprise Networking”:

Definition: Connecting all of the major constituents that make up the ‘intranet’ and ‘extranet’ of a corporation: colleagues, clients, stakeholders, service providers, recruits and alumni. These connections exist both at the ‘Firm’ and the ‘individual’ level. Active ‘read/write’ and ‘push/pull’ people and information networks in place based on relationship.

Can you see it?
