Come detto in un post precedente (questo), il bootloader ADAM2 che trovate su molti modem/router (fra i quali Dlink )  è soggetto ad una frequente “deframmentazione” della env, cioè della partizione (mtd3) contenente le variabili di sistema, e questo problema può portare il modem/router in “stallo”.

Per porre rimedio a questo problema il team routertech ha approntato nell’ultima versione del firmware (2.91.1) lo script “auto_defragenv.sh” che controlla il livello di deframmentazione rispetto ad un valore di soglia (di default 30) e se superiore, deframmenta la env.

Lo script va avviato a mano (usando la schermata “Run Command”), oppure si può settare cron in modo che avvii il controllo ad intervalli regolari.

Nel mio caso ho scelto di far eseguire il controllo ogni domenica alle 23.30, ed ho impostato il tutto eseguendo il comando:

cronjob-env.sh “auto_defragenv.sh&” “30″ “23″ “*” “*” “0″ “RT_cmd_2″

cronjob-env.sh crea un nuovo job nella crontab ed inoltre “associa” una variabile a questo nella env, nel mio caso ho dato il nome “RT_cmd_2″: in questo modo anche in caso di riavvii, l’impostazione rimane memorizzata.

For the past month, I have been telling myself that the weekend I am experiencing right now could either be the best weekend of my life, or the very worst. It turned out better than I ever dreamed it could.

The obstacles I was to face this weekend seemed dark and ominously tall all throughout this week. I knew my birthday would be fun (it was my sixteenth; it had to be!), but I was dreading the thought of a Learner’s Permit test for which I had not had the time to study for. If I were to fail it, all would be lost and I would feel like such a loser. The day after my birthday was the biggest meet of the year; the meet every cross-country runner nervously looks forward to all season. I craved the thought of finishing the race and knowing that I had successfully reached my goal of making it to the state championship meet.

Well as you, the reader, very well know, the whole Learner’s Permit did not work out, and I couldn’t have prayed for a better miracle. I was disappointed at the time, sure, but then the weekend took off. I had received the check I had desperately been waiting for for two weeks that day (aka my birthday) and I could finally buy my new iPod. But, first, I had a race in my way.

My race was the last one of the day on a course I truly despise. I ran the best race of my life yesterday. I started out in the right spot and moved up from there. I finished 4th overall, though technically it was 3rd. I almost got a personal record and beat my time from last year at this same course by well over a minute. I got to the chute and screamed “I’M GOING TO STATES!” Friday was an awesome – though nerve-wracking – day. After years of narrowly missing the opportunity to go to States, I made it. And boy, was my daddy proud of me.

Today, I purchased my new iPod (and dubbed her Persephone – I decided that she was a girl) and even though I bought a new iPod, I went off and bought a case for good ol’ Pandora just so she wouldn’t get mad. I know, I’m referring to inanimate objects as if they were animate – get used to it. Right now I’m listening to a large range of music thanks to the computing power of this monster of an iPod. (Sorry, Pandy!)

I got home from the shopping charade to find another check for me to cash and then we had my family birthday party. I got the portfolio I have been wanting and can’t wait to put it together.

Oh, and I got a cell phone. No biggie for most kids, because, you know, most kids have had them since they were, like, five, but, this is a big deal for me. This will be the first cell phone ever to come into my possession. That’s right, I am now sixteen years old and still don’t own a cell phone – but, have no fear! It’s on its way.

At first, I didn’t want one. And, I still don’t want one. The fact is, it has become a necessity. You can’t deny it. When I’m all alone and don’t have  a person who owns a cell phone nearby, I’m scared shitless. Now, that won’t be a problem anymore. On Monday, we’ll order my phone (and now, I’m not getting an ENV like everyone else seems to have) and I’ll have it just in time to take it with me on the States bus so I can text my mom and tell her where I am and such. It will be the first time in my life that I will totally be reachable. It’s scary and yet comforting at the same time. I’m rather excited.

So, I’d say it has been a fantastic weekend despite my worries. Even though I said goodbye to a friend I have known all my life, the world doesn’t seem so scary anymore. I’m looking forward to the meet on Saturday. I will get to go up against New York State’s finest runners; and I’m one of them. That has yet to sink in for me. Happy Birthday to me.

Now, my birthday is officially over. The best part?

The weekend isn’t over quite yet. Hello, second morning of sleeping in.

So here we are, it’s 2009. Treading water so to speak; twiddling our thumbs, making cups of tea, going to work, paying the bills, getting on with our lives, recovering from the recession. Whatever we are actually doing is irrelevant. We, as members of the global community, and as mere creatures of the earth, have a greater responsibility than our day to day lives.

What am I on about? Well a few things; climate change, resource exhaustion and biodiversity decline.

So you want proof? If you are still in denial, please take a step back, have a good think, do a little research, ask some questions. Done that? Great! Now lets act.

This is less of an informative post more or a provocative one.

There is a wealth of resources on the internet, a simple search will give you more results than I can type out here. So go do it, find the solutions yourself.

NASA downplays Antarctic snow record, blames ozone depletion, ocean dynamics

Ice melt on the world’s coldest continent was the lowest in 30 years during the 2008-2009 melt season, according to new research.

The finding was published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters last month by Marco Tedesco, a research scientist at the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology, cooperatively managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center; and Andrew Monaghan, National Center for Atmospheric Research scientist.

“A 30-year minimum Antarctic snowmelt record occurred during austral summer 2008–2009 according to spaceborne microwave observations for 1980-2009,” their abstract states. “Strong positive phases of both the El-Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Southern Hemisphere Annular Mode (SAM) were recorded during the months leading up to and including the 2008–2009 melt season.”

World Climate Report posted the following line graph to illustrate the Antarctic snow melt index (October-January) from 1980-2009:

The report included a list of NASA stories that highlight record high amounts of ice melting across Greenland. In recent years, NASA has written extensively on increasing snow melt and published findings by scientist Marco Tedesco.

A May 2007 NASA report declared, “In 2006, Greenland experienced more days of melting snow and at higher altitudes than average over the past 18 years, according to a new NASA-funded project using satellite observations.”

On Sept. 25, 2007, NASA reported once again that Greenland snow melt hit record highs.

NASA also reported extensive snowmelt in Antarctica in 2007 and 2008.

“On the world’s coldest continent of Antarctica, the landscape is so vast and varied that only satellites can fully capture the extent of changes in the snow melting across its valleys, mountains, glaciers and ice shelves,” NASA reported. “In a new NASA study, researchers using 20 years of data from space-based sensors have confirmed that Antarctic snow is melting farther inland from the coast over time, melting at higher altitudes than ever and increasingly melting on Antarctica’s largest ice shelf.”

NASA warns that “Antarctica contains 90 percent of Earth’s fresh water, making it the largest potential source of sea level rise.”

In March 2008, NASA reported the Wilkins Ice Shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula disintegrated, something it said was “an indication of warming temperatures in the region.”

But now that Tadesco and Monaghan confirm a 30-year minimum Antarctic snowmelt record, NASA has published research from scientists who claim increasing sea ice could be due to ozone depletion, changing ocean dynamics or the flooding of sea ice.

“Since the ozone hole began developing, researchers believe the Antarctic stratosphere has cooled between 2°C and 6°C (3.6°F and 10.8°F),” NASA reports. “Such cooling changes the dynamics between the stratosphere and lower layers of the atmosphere and strengthens Antarctica’s already fierce winds.”

The fierce winds are said to produce sustained periods of freezing temperatures unlike any other place in the world.

“The new model suggests that colder, stormier, and faster winds are rushing over the waters encircling Antarctic – especially the Ross Sea, where ice growth has been the most rapid,” NASA wrote in a September report. “The winds create areas of open water near the coast – known as polynyas – that promote sea ice production.”

According to the NASA report, changes in ocean circulation may also play a role.

“If global air temperatures warm, the model indicates that the amount of rain and snowfall could increase, and surface waters could freshen,” it states. “Since fresh water is less dense and less apt to mix with the heavier, saltier, and warmer water below, the layer at the ocean’s surface could become more stratified and mix less. This, in turn, would reduce the amount of heat flowing upward, allowing surface ice to expand.”

Another possibility, according to NASA, could be that accumulating snow is pressing down on the sea ice until it’s nearly submerged.

“When that happens, waves cause ocean water to spill on top of the ice and into the snow, forming a layer that eventually freezes and becomes ’snow ice,’” NASA reported.

World Climate Report questioned why NASA wouldn’t report specifically on Tedesco and Monaghan’s findings concerning a 30-year record low for ice melt.

“[T]his time around, nothing, nada, zippo from NASA when their ice melt go-to guy Marco Tedesco reports that Antarctica has set a record for the lack of surface ice melt (even more interestingly coming on the heels of a near-record low ice-melt year last summer),” World Climate Report states. “So, seriously, NASA, what gives? If ice melt is an important enough topic to warrant annual updates of the goings-on across Greenland, it is not important enough to elucidate the history and recent behavior across Antarctica?”

Well here I am, second post already ? Yeah that is how bored I am. Well I thought it would be nice to start off with a tutorial on the Path environment variable (on Windows).

Before getting into the details of the path variable, let me introduce the concept of environment variables. An environment variable is a set of named values that controls the environment of a process. One of the most common environment variable is the Path variable.

The Path variable instructs the command prompt (cmd) about the directories it should search to locate an executable command (program). The Path variable is important to configure if you want to run compiler tools such as C/C++/Java compilers from any path. That is, you can avoid having to type the complete path of the executable each time you want to invoke it.

Let us assume that you have a C compiler (gcc) installed in say, C:\mingw\bin. The following steps will show you how to set up your own custom paths…

1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties… you will be presented with the System Dialog
2. In the tasks pane select Advanced system settings
3. In the following System properties dialog, select Advanced tab
4. Click on Environment Variables… you will be presented with a new dialog where you can Add or Edit environment variables
5. Under the System variables section double click on the Path variable to edit it. Notice that all the entries are directories separated by semicolons. To add an entry, go to the end of the value field. Now without disturbing the existing values put a semicolon at the end followed by your directory.
6. Once you are satisfied with the changes press OK in all the opened dialogs to save the changes.
7. Now re-start any command prompts (if opened) and start firing away the commands

Repeat the above steps whenever you need to set a path variable. After the path variable to your directory is set, you can launch all the commands in that directory from any location in your command prompt. As an added bonus, you can also directly launch the commands from the Run dialog.

Because he is thinking of switching, he won’t get a new phone with a discount, which kind of disappoints me (I like playing with the things he buys).
Last year, when we got AT&T, Verizon wasn’t available in our area.

Now, all these Verizon stores are popping up everywhere (I think because of their acquisition of Alltel?). I saw a really cute Verizon store that looked like a little olden day tea shop. I really wanted to visit it, along with pretty much every phone store I saw on the road.

Enough with that disgusting talk of mine (it was intoxicating by the way).

Today’s copy of the The Independent eventually catches up with tales of wildlife in Vietnam endangered due to local tastes for rare meat.

It’s been rattling around the web for a week but the Indie weighs in with a wider news features.

It’s all relatively sensible, putting aside the usual inference that Vietnamese people spend their lives almost exclusively eating snakes, still beating hearts, dogs etc.

And then this moron weighs in:

Ian Walker, a British chef and author who on a recent culinary tour of Vietnam vowed to eat everything put in front of him, said the Vietnamese have a very different way of looking at food to most Westerners: “It is utterly different. Everything is edible.”

Mr Walker, who documented his discoveries in a book, Against the Flow, said he met on his Vietnamese travels many people who still hunt wild animals for survival.

“The trouble is when some animals become valuable. That is when it starts to become unsustainable,” he added.

No shit, Sherlock.

Because it’s only okay to eat anything and everything if you’re a travelling chef trying to turn a buck by punting yet another Vietnamese food book. Right?

Which, if it makes it into print, will have the added affect of being read by all those soon-to-be tourists in Vietnam who imagine themselves matching the author’s exotic eats.

Me? I was lucky enough to get the wildlife food lecture very early on from a friend in Hanoi working for an environmental NGO. I amended my diet accordingly. Otherwise I might have fallen for this ego-eating too.

Local delicacies forms part of the joy of travel. Eating local food and having local drinks is not only part of your memorable travel experiences, but also your money will support locals.

Throughout Indochina, you may find quite a few wildlife restaurants, especially when it comes to mountainous places. Trying these wildlife foods will encourage the local supply, and in turn, may lead to extinction of several rare species, as there are virtually no farm that supply these products only hunting.

I think like most people I have some sympathies with the poor local hunter. I have much less for the affluent Vietnamese civil servant or business men who eat the captured monkey or civet.

Then I’ve a whole lot less again for the next Bourdain-wannabe trying to get a book deal on the back of scoffing another nation’s endangered species.

* For a little self-education I can suggest following the regular updates aat Education for Nature Vietnam and if you see endangered species being sold in any form (ie live, dead, as food etc) then report it.  Why not add their hotline number to your mobile phone so you have it to hand.

So, readers, I need a little advice…

I have had my LG Chocolate for almost 2 years now… it’s pretty scratched.

I want a new phone.. and I’m going to get one for the start of school. I am on Verizon. I am going back and forth between the enV2 and the Voyager. I love LG<3. Believe it or not, I don’t like the style of the new enV3. Plus the enV2 is cheaper. But the style of the two enVs hasn’t changed very much and I prefer the style of the enV2.

My absolute favorite phone is the LG enV touch, but as far as I know, it’s about $200 to $300 dollars. My eleven year old brother is getting his first cell phone, too, and so I can’t get an expensive phone, or else he’ll be pissed and want an expensive phone, regardless of the fact that you don’t need some fancy phone as your first phone at eleven. Anyways, I like the touch screen of the Voyager, but the size of the enV. Also, I hear the enVs are texting phones, which I do alot:)

ஒரு சமூகம் குறித்தான சிந்தனை, அச்சமூகத்திலிருந்துதான் எழவேண்டும். அச்சமூகம் சிந்திக்கத் துவங்குகிறது என்பதற்கான அறிகுறி இது.

சமூகச் சிந்தனை ஒருங்கிணைக்கப்படும் பொழுது செயல்தளம் தானாக உருக்கொள்ளும். எந்த ஒரு மாற்றத்தினையும் வெளியிலிருந்து புகுத்திவிட முடியாது.

கடலோர சமூகம் காலம் காலமாக பிற சமூகங்களோடு குறைந்தபட்ச உறவுடன் ஒதுங்கி வாழ்ந்த சமூகம். இம்மக்கள் காலத்தின் மாற்றத்தினை அறிந்துகொள்ள முன்வருவதில்லை. அதே சமயம் காலத்தில் நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் பிற சமுகங்கள் இவர்களோடு உரையாடவும் முன்வருவதில்லை. இதன் காரணமாக புரிதல் என்பது இல்லாததாகிறது. ஆழிப்பேரலை சொல்லவொண்ணாத் துன்பத்தை இம்மக்களிடம் தோற்றுவித்தபோது, ஒட்டுமொத்த சமூகத்தின் அனுதாபமும் ஒரு போரலையாக இவர்கள் மீது பாய்ந்தது. ஆழிப்பேரலை தோற்றுவித்த துன்பத்தைவிட இந்த அனுதாபப் பேரலை தோற்றுவித்த துன்பம் அதிகமானது. ஜெயபதி அடிகளாரின் நோக்கம் இம்மக்களைக் குறித்த புரிதலைத் தோற்றுவிப்பத்துதான். தொடர் கருத்தரங்குகளிலிருந்து குறிப்பிட்ட எல்லைவரை அவர் நோக்கம் நிறைவேறவும் செய்தது. என்றாலும், எல்லா சிக்கல்களுக்கும் முன்கூட்டியே முடிவு செய்யப்பட்ட தீர்வுகளைப் புட்டிகளில் அடைத்து கையோடு எடுத்துவரும் விற்பன்னர்களின் இடையூறும் இருக்கவே செய்தது.

ஆழிப்பேரலை ஒர் இயற்கைப் பேரிடர். மனித சமூகம் இதுபோன்ற பேரிடர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து சந்தித்து வருகிறது. மானுடம் தோற்பதில்லை. ஏதோ ஒருவகையில் அது வென்றுவிடுகிறது. ஒருபோதும் நிலை தடுமாறுவதில்லை. ஆனால் கடலோர சமூகம் நடுக்கம் கொண்டது. இந்த நடுக்கம் ஆழிப்பேரலையினால் தோற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டதில்லை. ஒரு வகையில் இந்நடுக்கம் வெகுகாலம் இச்சமுகத்தில் உறைந்திருந்த ஒன்று. ஆழிப்பேரலை வெளி உலகிற்கு அதனை இனங்காட்டியது. அக்கறையுள்ள மக்கள் இது குறித்து சிந்திக்கவும் துவங்கினர். ஆனால் புரிதலின்மை பெரும் இடையூறாக அமைந்தது. இம்மக்களைக் குறித்து அறிவுரீதியான புரிதலைக் கொண்ட இம்மக்களில் ஒருவருக்கான தேவை எழுந்தது. இங்கு வறீதையா என்ற குரல் மட்டுமே இத்தேவையை நிறைவு செய்யும் சக்தியைக் கொண்டிருப்பதாகக் கருதுகிறேன்.

‘அணியம்’ வறீதையாவின் எட்டாவது நூல். அறிவியல்தான் அவர் இயங்குதளம். அடிப்படையில் அவர் ஒரு விஞ்ஞானி. கட்டுப்பாடுடன் கடல்சார்ந்த வாழ்வு குறித்து ஆய்வுகளை நிகழ்த்தியவர். மொழி சார்ந்த அவர் இயக்கம் காலத்தின் கட்டாயத்தால் எழுந்தது. ஆனால் ‘எழுத்து சமுக எழுச்சியின் அடையாளம்; எதிர்காலம் குறித்த தரிசனத்தின் வெளிப்பாடு’ என்னும் நிலைப்பாட்டிற்கு அவரால் வரமுடிந்துள்ளது. ஒரு விஞ்ஞானி இந்நிலைப்பாட்டிற்கு வருவது என்பது அபூர்வமானது. விஞ்ஞானி என்ற ஒளிவட்டம் அவன் தலையை சூழும்போது அவன் தன் சமுகத்திலிருந்து வெகுதூரம் அகன்றுவிட்டிருப்பான். நுண்கலைகளில் ஆர்வம் கொண்ட விஞ்ஞானிகள் பலரைக் காண முடியும். ஆனால் எழுத்துத் துறையில் தடம்பதிக்க ஆர்வம் கொள்பவர்கள் வெகுசிலரே. வறீதையாவின் இந்நூல் முழுமையும் கடல் சார்ந்த வாழ்வு தொடர்பானது. தன்னைச் சூழ்ந்த வாழ்வு குறித்து, அதன் தற்கால நிலை குறித்து, பதைபதைப்புடன் சிந்தித்த நேர்மையான ஒரு மனதின் வெளிப்பாடு.

ஒவ்வொரு கட்டுரையும் வாசகனைச் சிந்திக்கத் தூண்டுகிறது. இந்தியத் துணைக்கண்டத்தின் குடிமக்களுள் ஒரு பிரிவினரை இன்னொரு நாட்டின் கடற்படை தொடர்ந்து வேட்டையாடுகிறது. அவன் தொழில் கருவிகளைப் பிடுங்கிக் கொள்கிறது. அவன் படகுகளை மூழ்கடிக்கிறது. இக்கொடுமையைத் தொடர்ந்து எதிர்கொண்ட ஒரு தலைமுறை இன்று எழுந்துள்ளது. ஆனால், இந்திய அரசிடமிருந்து மட்டுமில்ல, இந்திய மக்களிடமிருந்தும் எவ்விதமான எதிர்வினையும் இல்லை. மிருகங்களைக்கூட இன்று சுட்டுக்கொல்ல முடியாது. ஆனால் இந்த மனிதர்களை மட்டும் வேட்டையாடலாம். இந்தியாவின் ஒரு மாவட்டம் அளவேயான ஒரு நாட்டின் கடற்படை தொடர்ந்து இந்த வேட்டையை நிகழ்த்துகிறது. எல்லை தாண்டி மீன் பிடிப்பதைக் காரணமாகச் சுட்டுகிறது. இந்தியக் கடற்படையும், இந்திய அரசும் இக்காரணத்தைத்தான் சுட்டுகின்றன. இந்தியக் கடல் எல்லைக்குள் இவைகள் நிகழ்ந்ததாக மீனவர்கள் சுட்டினாலும், எவ்விதப் பரிசீலனையுமின்றி எல்லைக்கப்பால் நிகழ்ந்ததாகத் தொடர்ந்து சொல்லப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

கடல் முழுமையிலும் மீன்கள் நிறைந்திருப்பதில்லை. மீன்கள் விளையும் வயல்கள் கடலில் ஆங்காங்கே உண்டு. அந்த வயல்களில் சென்றுதான் அறுவடையை நிகழ்த்தியாக வேண்டும். கச்சத்தீவு தமிழ் மீனவர்களின் பாரம்பரிய உரிமை கொண்ட மீன்வயல், அதை தமிழர்களின் பாரம்பரிய எதிரிகளுக்கு தாரை வார்த்த இந்திய அரசு, கச்சைத்தீவின் மீதான தமிழ் மீனவர்களின் பாரம்பரிய உரிமை கச்சத்தீவு தாரை வார்க்கப்பட்ட பின்பும் உண்டு என்றுதான் கூறியது. (சிங்களர்களின் அரச வரலாற்றைக் கூறும் மகாவம்சம் சிங்களர்களுக்கும் தமிழர்களுக்குமிடையிலான பகையை மட்டுமே கூறுகின்றது.) அவசர நிலைக் காலத்தின்போது அதிகாரிகளின் அளவில் தமிழ் மீனவர்களின் தொழில் செய்யும் உரிமை சிங்களர்களுக்கு விட்டுக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டது என்ற செய்தியும் உண்டு.

சிங்களக் கடற்படை இந்திய கடற்படையால் பயிற்றுவிக்கப்படுவது, ஒரு வகையில் இருதரப்பாரும் வகுப்புத் தோழர்கள். நண்பர்கள். ஆனால், தமிழ் மீனவர்கள் இந்த நண்பர்கள் வட்டத்திற்குள் வருவதில்லை. நடுக்கடலில் மீனவர்களை எதிர்கொள்ளும் இந்திய கடற்படையின் விசாரணை மொழி கன்னத்தில் அறைவதுதான் என்கிறார்கள் மீனவர்கள். மொழி தெரியாமை இதன் காரணமாகலாம். தமிழ் மொழி தெரிந்த கடற்படை வீரர் ஒருவரைக் குழுவில் இணைப்பதின் மூலம் தகவல் தொடர்பில் நிகழும் குளறுபடிகளைத் தவிர்த்துவிட முடியும். எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் உள்நோக்கங்கள் கற்பிக்க வேண்டியதில்லை. குளறுபடிகளைத் தவிர்ப்பதற்கான அக்கரை அரசியல் தலைமையிடம் இல்லை. மக்களாட்சியில் சாதாரண குடிமகன் அரசியல் தலைமையிடம்தான் முறையிட முடியும். ஒவ்வொரு மீனவன் கொல்லப்படும்போது சடங்குகளை மட்டும் நிகழ்த்திவிட்டு ஒதுங்கிவிடும் அரசியல் தலைமை. எதிர்கட்சிகள் கூட இதில் அக்கரை கொள்வதில்லை என்பதே பெரும் சோகம்.

‘தொடரும் துயரம்’ கட்டுரையில் தகுந்த சான்றுகளோடு இச்சிக்கலை முன்வைத்து தன் சிந்தனையை விரித்துள்ளார் வறீதையா. ‘அலையையும் காற்றையும் அன்றாட எதிர்கொள்ளும் தொழில் முறையினால் துணிச்சலும் முரட்டுத்தனமும் அவனுக்குள் இயல்பாகவே ஊறிக் கிடக்கிறது. மரணத்தின் தாலாட்டு அவன் காதுகளில் எப்போதும் ஒலித்துக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறது. அடுத்த நாள் உணவிற்கு உத்தரவாதம் இல்லாத நிச்சயமற்ற வாழ்க்கை முறைக்கு பழகிப்போனவன் அவன். அதனால், எவ்வித ஒடுக்குதலுக்கும் அச்சுறுத்தலுக்கும் அடங்கிப்போகும் தன்மை அவனிடம் இராது.’ கடல் சார்ந்த மக்களைக் குறித்த இப்புரிதலை அச்சமுகத்தில் வாழும் ஒருவரால்தான் பெற முடியும் மனிதன் என்ற உயிரினத்தின் தனித்தன்மை – ஒருபோதும் அது ஒடுக்குதல்களை ஏற்பதில்லை என்பதுவே. விடுதலை அதன் உயிர்மூச்சு. சுதந்திரத்திற்கான அதன் போரட்டத்தை அது துவக்கும் போது உலகின் எந்த சக்தியும் அதை அடக்கியதாக வரலாறு இல்லை. தமிழ் மீனவன் தொடர்ந்து தன் உயிரை அந்நிய நாட்டின் துப்பாக்கி குண்டிற்கு இரையாக தரப்போவதில்லை. வன்முறையை அது தன் ஆயுதமாகக் கொள்ளும் போது கடல்சார்ந்த சமுகம் மட்டுமல்ல, ஒட்டுமொத்த இந்திய சமுகமும் அலறும். வறீதையா தொலை தூரப்பார்வையில் எதார்த்தத்தை உணர்கிறார். அறிவார்ந்த மொழியில் தன் உணர்வுகளை பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார்.

கடலோர சமுகத்தின் வாழ்வியல் சிக்கலை பிற சமுகங்கள் ஏறெடுத்துப்பார்க்க தயங்குகின்றன. தங்களுக்கு தொடர்பில்லாதவை என்ற உணர்வு இருக்கத்தான் செய்கிறது. நடுக்கடலில் அந்நிய நாட்டின் கடற்படை துப்பாக்கி குண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு மீனவன் பலியாகும்போது, மேலோட்டமான அனுதாபத்தைக் கூட தமிழ் சமுகம் திறந்த மனதோடு முன் வைப்பதில்லை. ஆழிப்பேரலை நிகழ்த்திய அழிவின் போது கடலலையில் சிக்கி மாண்ட மீனவர்களின் பிணங்கள் ‘புள்டோசரால்’ ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக குவித்து தள்ளப்பட்டு மூடப்பட்டன. தமிழ் சமுகம் இறந்தவர்களுக்கு செய்யும் இறுதிக்கடனை பல இடங்களில் அப்போது மறந்திருந்தது. இறந்த மனிதனின் பிணத்தை புதைக்க மனித கரங்கள் இல்லாதிருந்தது. அப்போது இரண்டாயிரம் வருடப் பாரம்பரியம் கொண்ட தமிழ் நாகரிகமும் ‘புள்டோசரால்’ புதைக்கப்பட்டது. கடல் சார்ந்த சமுகத்தை தமிழ் சமுகத்தின் ஒரு பாகமாக நாம் உணர்ந்திருந்தால் இதுபோன்ற நிகழ்வுகள் ஒருபோதும் நிகழ்ந்திருக்க முடியாது. இதைவிட பெரும் சோகம் இதற்கு எதிராக அச்சமுகத்திடம் மொழி இல்லை. அவ்வப்போது அது வெளிப்படுத்தும் வன்முறை முகம் அதன் இயலாமையின் வெளிப்பாடு. இந்த இயலாமை, அதன் பலவீனம் இவற்றைத் தொடர்ந்து அதிகார வர்க்கம் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்கிறது.

கடற்கறை யாருக்கு சொந்தமானது? நிச்சயமாக அது கடலோர மக்களுக்கு மட்டுமே சொந்தமானது. கடலை மட்டுமே நம்பி வாழ்ந்து வருகிற சமூகம் அது. மாற்றுத் தொழில்களில் அதற்கு பழக்கமும் இல்லை, நாட்டமும் இல்லை. அவர்கள் வாழ்விற்குப் பாதுகாப்பளிப்பது சமுகத்தின் கடமை. வாழ்க்கை அதற்கான ஒழுங்குகளைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இவ்வொழுங்குகள் அனைத்தும் மனிதன் காலம் காலமாகப் பெற்ற அனுபவங்களிலிருந்து முகிழ்ந்தவை. இவ்வொழுங்குகளைச் சிதைக்கும்போது வாழ்வும் சிதைந்துவிடுகிறது.

விடுதலைக்குபின் உணவு பற்றாக்குறையை இந்தியா எதிர்கொண்டது. விவசாயத்தையே முதன்மைத் தொழிலாகக் கொண்ட நாடு தன் உணவுத் தேவைக்கு வேற்று நாடுகளைச் சார்ந்திருக்க வேண்டிய நிலை. உணவு உற்பத்தியைப் பெருக்குவது என்ற அரசியல் நிலைபாடு எடுக்கப்பட்டது. அரசியல் தலைமையால் கொள்கை முடிவுகளை மட்டுமே எடுக்க முடிவும். அதைச் செயல்படுத்த வேண்டியது அதிகார வர்க்கத்தின் கடமை. பசுமைப்புரட்சி என்ற திட்டம் உருக்கொண்டது. அதற்கு வடிவம் கொடுத்த அதிகாரி பன்முகம் கொண்ட விவசாயத்தின் தனித்தன்மையைக் கணக்கில் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவில்லை. கூடவே உணவுப்பழக்கம் இந்திய சமுகம் முழுமையிலும் ஒருபோல் அமையவில்லை என்ற உண்மையையும் எதிர்கொள்ளவில்லை. பார்ப்பண உணவுப்பழக்கம் மட்டுமே அவனுக்குத் தெரிந்த ஒன்று. பார்ப்பண வாழ்வு உடல் உழைப்பை அறியாதது. காலம் காலமாகப் பிறரை சுரண்டிச் செழித்த ஒன்று. தென்னாட்டில் அரிசி உணவை மட்டுமே அது அறிந்திருந்தது. உணவில் ருசி அதற்கு முதன்மையானது. தமிழ்நாட்டில் குறிப்பாகத் தென்மாவட்டங்களில் அரிசி ஒருபோதும் முதன்மையான உணவாக அமைந்ததில்லை. கடும் உடல் உழைப்பிற்குத் தேவையான உணவுப்பழக்கத்தை அது கொண்டிருந்தது. அரிசி அதில் இடம் பெறவே இல்லை. விழாக்காலத் தேவைகளுக்கு மட்டுமே அது பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது. அன்று பார்ப்பனச்சமுகம் உழைப்பதில்லை. தனக்குத் தேவையான தானியங்களை அச்சமுகம் உற்பத்தி செய்து கொண்டது. விடுதலையைத் தொடர்ந்த காலக்கட்டங்களைக் களமாகக் கொண்ட தமிழ் நாவல்களிலிருந்து இவ்வுண்மைகளை உணர்ந்து கொள்ள இயலும். இதையெல்லாம் புறக்கணித்த ஓர் அதிகாரியால் பசுமைப்புரட்சி என்ற நச்சு விதை தூவப்பட்டது.

காலம்காலமாக இம்மண்ணின் தன்மைக்கேற்ப, பருவ நிலையின் இயல்பிற்கேற்ப வளர்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட விவசாயமுறை நசுக்கப்பட்டது. குறைந்த அளவு நிலத்திலிருந்து கூடுதல் உணவு உற்பத்தி என்ற நோக்கம் முன்வைக்கப்பட்டு மண் நஞ்சாக்கப்பட்டது. மண் தாய் என்றால் (அப்படித்தான் நாகரிகம் கூறுகிறது) அவள் மடியை அறுத்து, உதிரத்தைப் பாலாகக் குடித்த பெருமை இவ்வதிகாரிக்கு உண்டு. உற்பத்தி பெருகினாலும் பயிரிட்ட விவசாயி கூடுதல் ஆதாயத்தைப் பெறமுடியாது என்ற உண்மையையும் அவன் அறிந்திருந்தான். விவசாயி தியாகியாக்கப்பட்டான். இப்போதும் தன்னை மாய்த்துக்கொண்டு அந்த அதிகாரி ஏற்றிவைத்த யாகத்தீயை அணையாமல் பாதுகாத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

நியாவிலைக்கடையில் அரிசி வழங்கப்பட்ட போது தானிய உற்பத்தியை மறந்து முன் வரிசையில் நிற்கத் துவங்கினான். ஒரு நேரம் கோதுமை உணவு என அவன் பார்த்தறியாத தானியமும் அவன் மேல் கொட்டப்பட்டது. அரிசியும் கோதுமையும் நன்செய் நிலத்தில் விளைவன. நன்செய் விவசாயம் மட்டுமே இவ்வதிகாரியால் விவசாயமாகக் கருதப்பட்டது. இந்தியா உணவுத் தேவையை நிறைவு செய்தது. ஆனால், தன் குடிமக்களை நோயாளியாக்கியது. மக்களின் விழிப்புணர்வற்ற நிலை ஒட்டுமொத்த அழிவிற்கு வேகமாக இட்டுச்சென்றது. எஸ்.என்.நாகராஜன் போன்றோர் உரத்தக்குரலில் இதற்கு எதிராகக் கூவிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். ஆனால் அதிகாரவர்க்கம் தன் செவியை மூடிக்கொண்டது. பாரம்பரியமான நம் கால்நடைகளை நாம் இழந்ததிலும் பசுமைப்புரட்சிக்கு பங்குண்டு. மனிதன், வேளாண்மை, கால்நடை என்ற தொடர்புச் சங்கிலி எம்.எஸ்.சாமிநாதனால் அறுக்கப்பட்டது.

இப்போது கடலோர வாழ்விற்கு வருவோம். இந்தியா விவசாயத்தைப் பின்தள்ளிவிட்டு தொழிற்துறையில் முன்னே செல்ல அரசியல் கொள்கை வகுக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டது. தொழில் வளர மூலப்பொருட்கள் வேண்டும். இந்திய துணைக் கண்டத்திலுள்ள கனிமங்கள் அனைத்தையும் பயன்பாட்டிற்குக் கொண்டு வந்தாக வேண்டும். அதிகார வர்க்கம்தான் இதற்குத் திட்டங்கள் வகுத்து நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும். கடற்கரையிலுள்ள, கடலிலுள்ள கனிமங்களையும் விட்டு வைக்க முடியாது. வெள்ளைத்தோல் கொண்டவர்களுக்கு உடலின்பம் அளிக்கும் சுற்றுலாத்துறையும் ஒரு தொழில்தான். அதற்கும் கடற்கரை வேண்டும். தாயின் மடியை அறுத்து உதிரத்தைப் பாலாகக் குடித்தவர்களின் பெயர்கள்தான் இங்கும் ஒலிக்கின்றன.

கடற்கரை மேலாண்மை மண்டல வரைவு அறிவிக்கை சாமிநாதன் தலைமையில் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. மேலாண்மை என்ற சொல் கவனத்தில் கொள்ள வேண்டியது. இதன் வேறொரு பொருள் ‘உன்னைவிட நான் மேலானவன், கீழடங்கு அல்லது சத்துமடி’ என்பதுதான். இந்த அறிவிக்கை எந்த அளவிற்குக் கடலோர மக்களின் வாழ்வைப் பொருட்படுத்தியுள்ளது என்ற கேள்வியை ‘கடற்கரை வெளியேற்று மண்டலம்’ கட்டுரையில் வறீதையா எழுப்பியுள்ளார். எஸ்.என். நாகராஜனைப்போல் வறீதையாவும் அடிப்படையில் ஒரு விஞ்ஞானி, என்றாலும் மானுடப்பண்பை இழந்துவிடாத விஞ்ஞானி. விரிவாகவே இதுப்பற்றி பேசுகிறார். விவசாயிகளின் மரணத்தில் விவசாய உற்பத்திப் பெருக்கம்! இதற்கு இணையானதுதான் கடலோர மக்களின் வாழ்வை புறக்கணித்துவிட்டு கனிமங்களை சுரண்டுவது. ஒன்றின் விளைவை நாம் அனுபவித்துவிட்டோம். மற்றொன்றின் விளைவு நிகழாதிருக்க நம்முடைய பங்கு என்ன? நாம் ஒவ்வொருவரும் நமக்குள்ளாகக் கேட்க வேண்டிய கேள்வி இது. வறீதையாவைப்போல் பலகுரல்கள் அன்று ஒலிக்கத்துவங்கியிருந்தால் விவசாயிகளின் இன்றைய தற்கொலைகள் நிகழ்ந்திருக்காது. பல வறீதையாக்கள் கடலோர சமுகத்திலிருந்து மேலெழும்ப வேண்டும்.

தென்மாவட்டக் கடலோரங்கள் இன்று கனிமங்களுக்காகச் சுரண்டப்படுகின்றன. இச்சுரண்டலை விரிவாகவே விமர்சிக்கிறார் வறீதையா. காடுகள் அழிக்கப்பட்டதன் விளைவுதான் இன்றைய வறட்சி. இக்காடுகளை அழித்தது காடுகளையே சார்ந்து வாழ்ந்த பழங்குடி மக்களல்ல; அவர்களால் காடுகளை அழிக்கவும் முடியாது. காடு அவர்களுக்குத் தாயின் முலையைப்போல். தேவையான அளவு பாலை அது தன் குழந்தைகளுக்குக் கொடுத்தது. தோட்டத் தொழில் ஊக்குவிக்கப்பட்டபின்தான் காடுகள் அழிந்தன. தேயிலைக்கு ஏற்றுமதி வாய்ப்பு இருந்தது. அதைப் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்ள திட்டம் வகுக்கப்பட்டபோது காடுகளுக்கு எவ்வகையிலும் தொடர்பில்லாத சமவெளி மனிதர்கள் காட்டை சூறையாடினர். இப்போது தேயிலைக்குச் சந்தை வாய்ப்பு இல்லை. தேயிலைத் தோட்டங்கள் கைவிடப்படுகின்றன. வறட்சி மட்டுமே நமக்கு மிஞ்சுகிறது.

கடல் கடலோர சமுகத்தின் தாய். குழந்தைக்குத் தாயிடமிருந்து பாலைக் குடிக்கத் தெரியும். முலையை அறுத்து பாலைக்குடிக்கும் பேதமை அதற்கு இருக்காது. காட்டைவிட கடற்கரையின் இயற்கை நுட்பமானது. காலம் காலமாகக் குவிக்கப்பட்ட மணல்மேடுகளே கடலை தடுத்து நிற்கும் அரண். இம்மணல் மேடுகளில் நிறைந்திருக்கும் கனிமங்கள் தொழில் பெருக்கத்திற்குத் தேவையானவை எனில் காடுகளை அழித்தது போல் கடற்கரையை அழித்து எதிர்காலம் நாம் பெறப்போவது என்ன?

நம் அதிகாரவர்க்கம் உண்மைகளை மட்டும் ஒருபோதும் கூறாது. சில்லறைச் சுரண்டல்காரர்களை ஓரங்கட்டிவிட்டு பெரியசுரண்டல்காரனான டாடா நிறுவனம் கால்பதிக்கப்போகிறது. நிலம் கொடுத்தவர்களுக்கு வேலை. ஆனால் இதை உரிமையாகக் கொள்ளக்கூடாது என்கிறது உச்சநீதிமன்றம். மத்திய அரசின் நிறுவனங்கள்கூட நிலம் கொடுத்த அனைவருக்கும் வேலைவாய்ப்புகளைத் தரவில்லை. விவசாயத்திற்கு மேல்மண் மட்டுமே பயன்படக்கூடியது. மேல்மண் நீக்கப்படும்போது நிலம் விவசாயத்திற்குப் பயன்படுத்தாத பாலையாகும். மீண்டும் மண்ணை வளப்படுத்த வேண்டுமென்றால் டாடா வெட்டி எடுத்த கனிமங்களைவிட செலவு கூடுதலாகும். டாடா தொழிற்சாலைகள் உள்ள இடங்களிலெல்லாம் மயிலிறகால் பெண்களின் இடுப்பை வருடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள் என்ற ‘உண்மையை’ டாடாவும் கூறுகிறார். அரசியல்வாதிகளும் கூறிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர். விஞ்ஞானியின் மொழியில் வறீதையா இச்சிக்கலை மேலான ஒரு தளத்தில் எதிர்கொள்ளுகிறார். ‘சர்வாதிகாரத்தின் கொம்பு முளைக்கும்’ ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் ஜனநாயகம் அதைத் தறித்துவிடும். வறீதையாவின் குரல் இளம் தலைமுறையின் குரல். நம்பிக்கையை அது இழந்துவிடவில்லை. இழக்கப்போவதும் இல்லை என்பதை நூல் முழுமையிலிருந்தும் உணரமுடிகிறது.

கடலோர வாழ்வின் மற்றொரு சிக்கலான வறீதையா இனங்காண்பது – கத்தோலிக்க சமயம். ஜெயபதி அடிகளார் ஒருங்கிணைந்த கருத்தரங்குகளில் மிக விரிவாகப் பேசப்பட்ட விஷயங்களுள் ஒன்று இது. சீர்திருத்த கிறிஸ்தவம் நாடார் இனக்குழு மக்களின் கல்வி உயர்வுக்கும் பொருளாதார உயர்வுக்கும் காரணமாக அமையும்போது, கத்தோலிக்க சமயம் கடலோர மக்களின் கல்வியின் மீது கவனம் செலுத்தவில்லை என்ற குற்றச்சாட்டும் எழுந்தது. கரத்தரங்குகளில் கலந்துகொண்ட கடலோர மக்கள் தங்கள் கோபங்களை அழுத்தமாக வெளியிட்டனர். ஆனால் கோபத்திற்கு பின்னால் இருந்தாக வேண்டிய சிந்தனை அவர்களிடம் முற்றிலுமாக இல்லை என்றே இப்போது கூறத் தோன்றுகிறது. சிந்தனையின் அடிப்படையில் பிறக்கும் கோபம் மட்டுமே வாழ்வை அடுத்த கட்டத்திற்கு எடுத்துச் செல்லும். வறீதையா சமயத்தை எதிர்கொள்ளும் கோணம் தனித்துவமானது. “நான் சார்ந்திருக்கும் கத்தோலிக்க கிறிஸ்தவம் வாழ்க்கையை விமர்சனப் பார்வையுடன் அணுகவும், அறிவைக் கேள்விக்கு உட்படுத்தவும் என்னை பயிற்றுவித்தது” என வெளிப்படையாகவே சமயத்துடனான தன் உறவை நினைவுகூர்கின்றார். சமயத்தை வாழ்வின் எதிரிடையான ஒன்றாக, உதறித்தள்ள வேண்டிய ஒன்றாக ஒருபோதும் அவர் கருதவில்லை. ஆனால் கடலோர மக்களின் இன்றைய வாழ்வில் சமயத்தின் நிலை குறித்த ஆழமான கவலை அவரிடமிருந்து எழுகிறது. அவர் கையாளும் ‘இறந்த நாய்க்குட்டியைச் சுமந்து திரியும் குரங்கின்’ படிமம் சக்தி வாய்ந்தது. வறீதையா இப்படிமம் ஒன்றின் மூலமாகவே தாம் சொல்ல வேண்டியதை சொல்லிவிடுகிறார்.

குமரிமண்ணில் குறிப்பாகக் கடலோர மக்களிடம் கத்தோலிக்க கிறிஸ்தவம் வந்து சேர்ந்தது ஓர் அரசியல் விபத்தின் காரணமாகத்தான். முத்துக்குளிக்கரையைச் சார்ந்த மீனவர்கள் இஸ்லாமியர்களின் நெருக்குதலிலிருந்து தங்களை காத்துக்கொள்ள கொச்சியிலிருந்து போர்த்துக்கீசியர்களின் துணையை நாடினர். கடலோர மக்களுக்கு சேவியர் ஆற்றிய பணி மகத்தானது. ஒரு தந்தையைப்போல் இம்மக்களைப் பாதுகாத்தார். ஒரு நெருக்கடியான அரசியல் சூழலில் சேவியர் இப்பகுதியை ஆண்ட மன்னனுக்கு உதவிய காரணத்தால், குமரிக்கடற்கரை மீனவர்களையும் தன் சமயத்தில் இணைத்துக்கொள்ளும் அனுமதியையும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார். ஓரிரு நாட்களில் பணி முடிந்துவிட்டது. அக்காலத்தில் ‘முழுமையான விசுவாசமே’ சபையின் இலக்காகக் கருதப்பட்டது. என் பள்ளிப் பருவ நாட்களில் ‘விசுவாசம் கெட்ட தொம்மை’ என்பது வசைச் சொல்லாகவே வழங்கப்பட்டது. சமயப்பணியாளர்கள் இம்மக்களின் விசுவாசத்தின் மீது முழுமையான நம்பிக்கை கொண்டதில்லை. எப்போதும் சந்தேகக் கண்ணுடனேயே இவர்களை எதிர்கொண்டனர். வெளி உலகுடனான தொடர்பு தங்கள் மூலமாகவே நிகழவேண்டும் எனக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தினர். கடலோர மீனவன் வெளி உலகுடனான தொடர்பை என்றோ இழந்துவிட்டிருக்கிறான். அவனுக்கென்று பிரதிநிதித்துவ அரசியல்கூட இன்றில்லை. காலத்தின் மாற்றத்தைக் கத்தோலிக்க சமயம் உணர மறந்துவிட்டபோது மீனவன் காலத்தையும் இழக்கும்படியாயிற்று. இன்று கடலோர வாழ்வின் வேதனைகள் அனைத்தும் இதன் வெளிப்பாடுதான்.

சீர்திருத்த கிறிஸ்தவம் இங்குவந்த சூழல் வேறு. கிறிஸ்தவ அறிவைப் பெற்று கிறிஸ்துவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுதல் என்பதே அன்று இலக்காக அமைந்தது. கிறிஸ்துவை அறிந்துகொள்ளுவதற்கு வேதநூலைக் கற்றாக வேண்டும். இதற்கு மொழி அறிவு கட்டாயமானது. புதிய காலச் சூழலில் ஒரு கிறிஸ்தவனுக்கு மறுஉலக வாழ்வு மட்டுமல்ல, இவ்வுலக வாழ்வும் உண்டு. கிறிஸ்தவனாக அவனை வாழச்செய்வதும் சமயத்தின் பணியே. கோவில்கள் கட்டப்படும்போது அதன் ஒரு பகுதியாகக் கல்வி நிலையங்களும் கட்டப்பட்டன. சமுக விடுதலைக்கான போராட்டத்தில் சமயப் பணியாளர்கள் முன்னின்று போராடினர். வளர்ச்சியின் ஒரு காலக்கட்டத்தில் உலகியல் வாழ்வை அவர்கள் பொறுப்பிற்கே விட்டுவிட்டு ஆன்மீக வாழ்வை மட்டுமே சமயப்பணியாளர்கள் தங்கள் கடமையாகக் கொண்டனர். இது வரலாற்றடிப்படையில் நிகழ்ந்த ஒன்று. கத்தோலிக்கக் கிறிஸ்தவமும், சீர்த்திருத்தக் கிறிஸ்தவமும் ஒரே காலகட்டத்தில் இம்மண்ணில் கால் ஊன்றவில்லை. முழுமையான விசுவாசமும், அறிவின் அடிப்படையில் அமைந்த விசுவாசமும் வேறானவை. வெவ்வேறு திசைகளில் இயங்குவன.

என் பள்ளிப்பருவ நாட்கள் ஒரு கத்தோலிக்க கிறிஸ்தவப் பள்ளியில் கழிந்தன. வயது முதிர்ந்த ஆசிரியர் ஒருவர் அன்போடு என்னை அணைத்துக்கொண்டு செல்வார்: “வேதநூலை நீ படிக்கக் கூடாது. தவறாகப் புரிந்து கொள்வாய். குருவானவர் படித்து சொல்லக் கேட்க வேண்டும்” கடலோர வாழ்வின் பெரும் துன்பங்களுக்கு முதன்மையான காரணம் குருவானவர் சொல்லச் சொல்ல கேட்பதுதான். வானுயர்ந்த கோபுரங்களைக் கொண்ட கோவில்கள் உண்டு – ஒவ்வொரு சிறு கிராமத்திலும். ஆனால் பள்ளிக்கூடங்கள் தேவையானவை; குழந்தைகள் படித்தாக வேண்டும் என குருவானவர் சொல்லி மக்கள் கேட்கவேயில்லை. கடலோர மக்களின் வறுமை சொர்க்கத்திற்கான வாயில்.

கத்தோலிக்க சமயம் பல நூற்றாண்டுகள் இறுகிப்போன அமைப்பினை கொண்டது. மாறுதல்கள் மிக மிக மெதுவாகத்தான் அதில் தோன்றக்கூடும். ஆனால் மாறுதல்களை எந்த அளவிற்கு வேகமாக சமுகம் ஏற்கின்றதோ அந்த அளவிற்கு அச்சமுகம் முன்னேறும். ஓர் இந்து இயக்கத்தைச் சார்ந்த நண்பர் ஒருவர் சொன்ன இக்கதையை இங்கு குறிப்பிட்டாக வேண்டும். குமரிக் கடற்கரையில், ஓர் இந்து இயக்கத்தை இந்தியா முழுமையிலும் கட்டி எழுப்பிய அதன் தலைவர் கடலுக்கு நடுவே இருந்த ஒரு பாறைக்குச் செல்ல ஆசைகொண்டு ஒரு மீனவனை உதவிக்கு அழைத்தார். மீனவன் அவ்வூர்ப்பாதிரியாரின் அனுமதியைக் கேட்டான். பாதிரியார் விசாரித்துவிட்டு ‘கூடாது’ என்றார். அந்த இயக்கத் தலைவர் கடல் நீரைவாரி இறைத்து சபதம் பூண்டார். குமரிமண்ணில் நிகழ்ந்த பெரும் சமயக்கலவரத்தின் ஆணிவேர் இது. ஆழிப்பேரலையின் கொடுமைக்கு நிகரான அழிவை அது கடலோரத்தில் அன்று நிகழ்த்தியது.

கத்தோலிக்க சமயம் காலத்தின் மாறுதலை அப்பணியாளருக்கு உணர்த்தவில்லை. சிலுவைப்போர்க் காலகட்டத்திலிருந்து அப்பணியாளர் அப்போது வெளியேறி இருக்கவில்லை.

இதில் வறீதையாவின் பார்வை ஆரோக்கியமானது. அவர் பணி சமயத்தை விமர்சிப்பதல்ல. ஆனால் ‘பணியாளர்’, ‘விசுவாசி’ என்னு இரட்டைநிலை ஒழிந்தாக வேண்டும். உலகியல் வாழ்வில் ‘விசுவாசி’ என்றொருவன் இல்லை. சமுக மனிதன் மட்டுமே இருக்கிறான். வாழ்வின் நிலைநிற்பிற்காக அவன் போராடியாக வேண்டும். தலைமை தாங்க அவர் தலைவர்களை தோற்றுவித்தாக வேண்டும். ஆன்மீக வாழ்வைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும் பொறுப்பை பணியாளர் மட்டுமே வகிக்க முடியும்.

கடலின் இயற்கை மிக நுட்பமானது. மனிதக் குறுக்கீடுகளை அது ஒருபோதும் ஏற்பதில்லை. என் கல்லூரி நாட்களில் கன்னியாகுமரி ஒரு சிறு கிராமம்தான் குமரி பகவதி அம்மன் கோவிலும், மலையளவு உயர்ந்த மணல் தேரியும்தான் அன்றைய கன்னியாகுமாரியின் அடையாளங்கள். கடலின் நடுவிலிருந்து ஒரு பாறையின் மீது மனிதன் காலூன்ற மேற்கொண்ட முயற்சியின் துவக்கமே இன்றைய சீரழிவின் தொடக்கம். கட்டுமானப் பொருட்கள் கொண்டுசெல்ல சில மீட்டர் அளவிலான படகணையும் துறை கட்டப்பட்டபோது, காலம் காலமாக இருந்துவந்த மணல்தேரி காணாமலானது. குழந்தைகளின் காலடிகளை முத்தமிட கரையை மெதுவாக மோதிக்கொண்டிருந்த கடலலைகள் சீற்றம் கொண்டு கரையைத் தாக்கின. கடற்கரையில் கற்பாறைகள் அடுக்கப்பட்டு, குழந்தைகளின் கால்களுக்கும் கடலைக்குமான உறவு நிரந்திரமாகத் தடுக்கப்பட்டது. கடல் நீரோட்டம் தடைபட்டதே இதன் காரணம். கடல் நீரோட்டம் கடலின் உயிர்மூச்சு. கடல்சார்ந்து வாழும் மீன்கள் மனிதர்கள் என அனைத்து உயிரினங்களுக்கும் உயிர்மூச்சு கடல் நீரோட்டம்தான். கடலோர சமுகம் காலம் காலமாக கடலோடு இணைந்து வாழ்ந்த சமுகம். வாழ்வனுபவங்களிலிருந்து கடல்சார்ந்த அறிவை சேகரித்து அது சேமித்து வைத்துள்ளது. கடற்கரையில் புதிய திட்டங்களுக்கு இடமேயில்லை என்பதல்ல. திட்டங்களை முடிவு செய்யும்போது கடலோர சமுகத்தின் கடல்சார்ந்த அறிவும் கணக்கிலெடுக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதுதான்.

கடற்பாசி குறித்த வறீதையாவின் பார்வையை இங்குக் குறிப்பிட வேண்டும். கடற்பாசி வளர்க்கும் தொழில் அரசின் மானிய உதவியுடன் புதிதாக அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. மீனவர்கள் வளர்க்கும் பாசியை அந்நிய நாட்டு நிறுவனமான பெப்ஸிகோ வாங்கிக் கொள்ளும். இதுபோலவே கொக்கோ பயிரிட விவசாயிகள் தூண்டப்பட்டனர். மலையோர கிராமங்கள் கொக்கோ தோட்டங்களாக மாற்றவும் பட்டன. ஆனால் வாங்கிக்கொள்வதாக வாக்குறுதி தந்த அந்நிய நிறுவனங்கள் கைவிரித்தபோது, கொக்கோ விவசாயிகள் அரசாலும் கைவிடப்பட்டனர். காலணி ஆட்சியின்போது நீல அவுரியைப் பயிரிடத்தூண்டி, பின் வெள்ளைத்தோல் மனிதர்கள் வாங்க மறுத்தபோதுதான் இந்திய விடுதலைப்போரே வேர் கொண்டது. கடந்தகால வாழ்வனுபவங்களே மனிதனை வழி நடத்துகின்றன.

மீன்துறை அமைச்சரரான லூர்தம்மாள் சைமனால் நன்னீர் மீன்வளத்தைப் பெருக்கும் பொருட்டு திலேப்பியா மீன் தமிழ்நாட்டு நீர்நிலைகளில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. வாயில் வைத்து தன் குஞ்சுகளை பாதுகாக்கும் திலேப்பியா, பிற மீன்களின் குஞ்சுகளை முற்றிலுமாக அழித்துவிடும். அதன் இயற்கை சூழலில் பிற மீன்கள் அதனோடு இணைந்து வாழும் சக்தியைப்பெற்றிருந்தன. புதிய சூழலில் திலோப்பியா பிற மீன்களை வாழ அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. இன்று நன்னீர் மீன்வளர்ப்பில் திலேப்பியா ஒரு களை. கடற்பாசி இனமான ‘கப்பாஃபைகஸ்’ நம் நாட்டு பாசியினம் அல்ல. புதிய சூழலில் இது நிகழ்த்தப்போகும் தாக்கத்தை இன்று கணிக்க இயலாது. திலேப்பியாவை இங்கு அறிமுகம் செய்ய முடிவெடுத்த அதிகாரவர்க்கம் இதனால் எவ்விதப் பாதிப்பினையும் எதிர்கொள்ளவில்லை. பாதிப்பு மக்களுக்கு மட்டும்தான். ‘கப்பாஃபைகஸ்’ நாளை பாதிக்கப்போவது மக்களைத்தான். மக்களின் பாரம்பரிய அறிவு வரப்போகும் ஆபத்தை முன்னுணர்கிறது. வறீதையா என்ற விஞ்ஞானியின் அறிவு, அவர் பிறந்து வளர்ந்த சமுகத்தின் பாரம்பரிய அறிவைக் கணக்கிலெடுத்துக் கொண்டு எச்சரிக்கை செய்கிறது.

கடலோர மக்களின் வாழ்வே ஒரு கட்டுமரம்தான். மனித அறிவில் தோற்றங்கொண்ட மிக எளிமையான, சக்தி வாய்ந்த தொழிற்கருவி. அதன் அமைப்பு எளிதானது. ஆனால் காற்றின் சக்தியை தன் சக்தியாக வரிந்துகொள்கிறது. அதன் திசையைத் தீர்மானிக்க கருவிகள் உண்டு. கருவிகளை இயக்க கடலோர இளைஞர்கள் முன்வந்தாக வேண்டும்.

இது வறீதையா என்ற விஞ்ஞானியின் கனவு.

‘கடலுக்கு முகத்தையும் நிலத்துக்கு முதுகையும் காட்டிப் பழகிய’ மீனவப் பெருங்குடி மக்களின் வசதிக்காக ஒருவேளை சட்டசபையும் பாராளுமன்றமும் கடலில் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தால், மீனவர்கள் நம் ஆட்சியாளர்களை எளிதாக அணுகியிருப்பார்களோ; மீனவர்களின் வாழ்வியல் துயரமும் இன்னல்களும் குறைய வாய்ப்பிருந்திருக்குமோவென கசந்த நகைப்புக்கிடையே எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது. உல்லாச விருந்தில் கலந்துகொள்ள அடிக்கடி கடலுக்கு போய்வரும் அரசியல்வாதிகளுக்கும் அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் கடற்கரையில் மீனவர்கள் வாழ்வது சங்கடத்தை உருவாக்குகிறது. இவர்கள் கொள்ளையடித்ததை ஆடம்பரமாகச் செலவழிக்க ‘பீச் ரெசார்ட்களும்’ உண்டுகொழுத்த உடலைக் குறைக்க மீனவர் நடமாட்டமற்ற கடற்கரையும் தேவைப்படுகிறது. ‘கடற்கரை ஒழுங்குமுறை மண்டலத்தை’ மக்கள் விரோதி எம்.எஸ் சாமிநாதன் ‘ கடற்கரை மேலாண்மை மண்டலமாக’ மாற்றி அறிவிக்கை தயார் செய்து அளிக்கிறார். சுனாமியில் பேரழிவைச் சந்தித்த மீனவர்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை ஒட்டுமொத்தமாகப் பறிக்க ‘கடற்கரை மேலாண்மை மண்டல அறிவிப்பாணையை” வெளியிடுகிறது மத்திய அரசு. அரசியல் சக்தியாக மாற்றம் பெறாத மீனவச் சமுகத்தைக் கடற்கரையிலிருந்து வாரி வழித்துப் பலிசோறாக நிலத்தை நோக்கி வீசிடத் துடிக்கின்றனர் முதலாளிகளும், அரசு யந்திரக் கைக்கூலிகளும்; மீனவச் சமுகத்திடையே அரசியல் விழிப்புணர்வு குறைவாக இருப்பதால், மீனவரை எளிதாக ஏமாற்றிவிடலாமென அரசு எண்ணுவதில் வியப்பில்லை. இவர்கள் அரசியல் மாற்றத்தை உருவாக்கக்கூடிய மக்களில்லை என்கிற வருத்தத்துடன்தான், மீனவச் சமுகத்தை பலி கேட்கும் அரசின் கொள்கை முடிவுகளுக்கு எதிரான தனது நிலைப்பாடுகளையும் எதிர்ப்பையும் மீனவ மக்களின் வாழ்வுரிமை நியாயங்களையும் இந்நூலில் வலியுறுத்த விரும்புகிறார் வறீதையா.

நிலத்தை மீனவர்கள் சொத்தாக என்றுமே கணக்கு வைத்துக்கொள்வதில்லை. சொத்து, வாழ்வு அனைத்தையும் கடலோடு மட்டுமே கணக்கு வைத்துக்கொள்ளும் மக்கள், சுதந்திர இந்தியாவில் ஓட்டு வங்கிகளாக மட்டுமே மீந்திருக்கும் மீனவர்களின் பிரச்சனைகளைக் கணக்கில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு பேசவும் தீர்வுகாணவும் அதிகார மட்டத்திலிருந்து ஆட்சி மட்டம்வரை ஒருவருமில்லை என்பதுதான் யதார்த்தம். சொத்துரிமைப் பத்திரம் வைத்துக்கொள்ளத் தெரியாத பழங்குடி மக்களை ‘காட்டின் ஆக்கிரமிப்பாளர்கள், காட்டையும் வன விலங்குகளையும் அழிக்கும் சமுக விரோதிகள்’ எனப் பழிசுமத்தியவர்கள் நமது அதிகாரிகள். பழங்குடி மக்கள் காட்டில் பிழைக்கவும் வாழவும் உரிமை கிடையாது என்று அரசாணை பிறப்பித்து, பழங்குடிகளிடமிருந்து காட்டைப் பிடுங்கிக் கொண்டு விரட்டி விட்டது அரசாங்கம். பிரிட்டிஷ் காலத்திலேயே இந்த வெளியேற்றம் தொடங்கியது என்றாலும், காட்டின் விளிம்புக்குத் தள்ளப்பட்ட இவர்களை இன்றைய மக்களாட்சி நடைபாதைக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து நிறுத்தியுள்ளது. மரங்களை, வனவிலங்குகளைக் கொள்ளையிட ஏகபோகக் குத்தகையை முதலாளிகளுக்கு எப்படி அரசு அளித்ததோ, அதேபோல் இன்று கடல் வளமும், கடற்கரையும் தொல்குடி மீனவருக்கு பாத்தியதை இல்லையென விரட்ட முனைகிறது அரசு. தமிழகக் கடற்கரையைக் கொள்ளையிடப் பெட்டிகளுடன் வரிசையில் நிற்கின்றனர் பன்னாட்டு, உள்நாட்டு முதலாளிகள், முதலாளிகளுக்குப் பட்டாவாக்கிக் கல்லா கட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர் நம் அரசியல்வாதிகளும் அதிகாரிகளும்.

‘ஆறிலும் சாவு நூறிலும் சாவு’. இந்த வாக்கைக் கடற்கரையில் மூலை முடுக்கெல்லாம் கேட்க முடியும். தினமும் மரணத்தைத் தூக்குச் சட்டிபோல் உடன் அழைத்துச் சென்று கரை திரும்பும் மீனவச் சமுகம், மரணத்தைத் தன் நிழலாகவே நினைக்கிறது. மரணத்தை வெல்லவே தினமும் கடலுக்குப் போகிறது. மீன்பிடி தடை செய்யப்பட புயல் நேரத்தில்கூட, பந்தயம் வைத்து கட்டுமரத்தில் கடலுக்குப் போய் மீன் பிடித்து மரணத்தை வென்று திரும்பிய வீராதி வீரர்களும் உண்டு. அல்லது வறீதையா குறிப்பிடுவதுபோல் தன் மக்கள் பசியாற்ற சீற்றமான கடலில் துணிந்து மீன்பிடிக்கப் போவதும் நடைமுறைதான். பாடுபடத் தெரியாத ஆணை மதிக்கவே மாட்டார்கள் கடின உழைப்பாளிகளான மீனவப் பெண்கள். சென்ற தலைமுறைவரை இதுதான் மீனவக் கலாச்சாரம். அதுபோல் நிராதரவாக மீனவக் கிராமத்துக்கு வந்து சேரும் அனாதைகள் மற்றும் மனநிலை பிறழ்ந்தவர்களை அந்தக் கிராமமே அரவணைத்து அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு புதிய வாழ்வை உருவாக்கித் தரும். கடலைப் போலவே ஈரம் நிறைந்த மனதுடைய மக்கள். மீனவச் சமுகத்தில் சம்பளத்துக்கு உத்தியோகம் பார்க்கும் ஒரு புதிய தலைமுறை உருவான பிறகு கலாச்சாரம் மாறிவிட்டது. சமுகத்திடையே ஏற்றத்தாழ்வும் அதிகரித்துவிட்டது என்பதை அணியத்தின் மூலம் பேசுகிறார் ஆசிரியர்.

மரணத்துடன் கைகோர்த்து நடைபயிலும் மீனவரை தற்போதைய அரசியல் படுகொலைகள் நிலைகுலையச் செய்கின்றன. வங்கக்கடலில் மீன்பிடிக்கச் செல்லும் மீனவன், சிங்கள் ராணுவத்தினரால் குண்டடிப்பட்டு இறப்பதும் படகை, மீனை, வலைகளைப் பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டு தமிழக மீனவனை நடுக்கடலில் தள்ளிவிட்டுஸ் செல்லும் நிலையும் தொடர்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பது மீனவர்களிடையே ஒரு கொந்தளிப்பை உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறது. ‘கடல்போல் ஆர்ப்பரித்து எழுந்தாலும், சிறிது நேரத்தில் காயல் போல் வடிந்துவிடும் குணமுடையவர்கள் மீனவர்கள்’ என்கிறார் வறீதையா. ஆனால், சுனாமிக்குப் பிறகு மீனவர்களிடையே அரசியல் விழிப்புணர்வு சற்று அதிகரித்திருப்பதாகவே எனக்குப்படுகிறது. இனியும் மீனவர்கள் பொறுமையைக் கையாள்வார்கள் என எதிர்பார்க்க முடியாது என்றே தோன்றுகிறது. அம்பேத்கர் நூற்றாண்டு விழாவிற்குப் பின் எப்படி தமிழகத்தில் தலித் அரசியல் எழுச்சி ஏற்பட்டதோ அதேபோல் டிசம்பர் 2004 சுனாமிக்குப் பிறகு மீனவச் சமுகத்திடையே ஒரு அரசியல் எழுச்சி உருவாவதைக் காணமுடிகிறது. சுனாமியை ஒட்டி மீனவ மக்கள் தங்களையும் தாங்கள் இதுநாள்வரை அரசியலால் வழி நடத்தப்பட்ட விதத்தையும் மீள் ஆய்வு செய்துகொண்டிருக்கின்றனர். இது மீனவச் சமுகத் தலைமைத்துவப் பண்மைச் சிறிது சிறிதாக வளர்க்க உதவும். மீனவன் தொடர்ந்து அரசியல் கட்சிகளின் வலதுகை, இடதுகையென எடுபிடிகளாக வாழ்ந்து மீனவக் கிராமத்தை ஆட்டிப்படைத்த ‘கூலிக்கு மாரடிக்கும் அரசியல் கலாச்சாரம்’ மாறி வருவதைக் காண முடிகிறது. இவர்கள் தற்சமயம் இனநலன் சார்ந்த பிரச்சனைகளுக்குக் குரல் கொடுப்பது அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. அதே போல் மறைமாவட்டங்களில் மீனவக் கிராமங்களில் பாதிரியாரின் செயல்பாடுகள் குறித்து விமர்சனங்களும் கேள்விகளும் எழுதுவதை வறீதையா குறிப்பிடுகிறார். பாதிரியார் மார்க் ஸ்டீபன் பங்குப் பணியாளரின் பணி குறித்து எழுப்பும் கேள்விகள் மிக முக்கியமானவை.

தற்போது கடலில் புயல் காலங்களில் மட்டுமல்ல, சாதாரண நேரங்களில்கூட மீன்பிடிப்பு குறைந்துவிட்டது. ரசாயனக் கழிவுகளால் ஏற்படும் நீர்நிலைச் சூழலியல் கேட்டினால் பல்லுயிர் பெருக வழியற்று மீன்படுவது வெகுவாக குறைந்துவிட்டது. கடற்கரையில் உருவாக்கப்படும் மகா திட்டங்கள் மீனவர் வாயில் மண்ணை அள்ளிப் போட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

• சென்னை மீனவர் வாழ்வாதாரத்தைக் கபளீகரம் செய்த சென்னை துறைமுக விரிவாக்கம்,
• எண்ணூர் அனல்மின் நிலையம் மற்றும் அப்பகுதியில் உள்ள பிற தொழிற்சாலைகள்
• திருவள்ளூர் மாவட்ட மீனவர்களைக் கூலிகளாகவும், உதிரிகளாகவும், அடியாட்களாகவும் மாற்றிவிட்டன.
• காஞ்சீபுர மாவட்டத்தில் கல்பாக்கம்;
• கடலூரில் சிப்காட்;
• தஞ்சை,
• நாகை மாவட்டங்களில் இறால் பண்ணை,
• தூத்துக்குடி,
• திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டங்களில் ஸ்டெர்லைட்,
• கூடங்குளம்.
• இராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் சேதுக் கால்வாய்த் திட்டம் மற்றும்
• சிங்கள் இராணுவம் நடத்தும் படுகொலைகள்.
• கடற்கரையின் அனைத்து மாவட்ட மீனவர்களும் அரசின் தவறான திட்டங்களால் ஒட்டுமொத்தமாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

கடற்கரைச் சூழலில் நாசத்தால் கடலுயிரிகள் மட்டுமின்றி நிலத்தடி நீரும் பாதிக்கப்படுகிறது. இப்பாதிப்பு விவசாய நிலங்களையும் விவசாயிகளையும் பாதிக்கிறது. விவசாயம் பாதிக்கப்படுவதால் வறுமைக் கோட்டுக்குக் கீழுள்ள மக்கள் நேரடியாகப் பட்டினிச்சாவை நோக்கித் தள்ளப்படுவர்.

இந்த உயிரியல் சுழற்சி காடு அழிவதிலிருந்து ஆரம்பித்து நீர்நிலை பாதிப்பு, விவசாய பாதிப்பென ஒரு வட்டத்துள் சுற்றுவதை வறீதையா சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆய்வாளர் என்ற பார்வையிலிருந்து வாசர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்துகொள்கிறார்.

இயற்கை சுனாமியிலிருந்து கடல்சார் சமுகம் எழுந்தாலும், இன்று சுழன்றடிக்கும் அரசியல் சுனாமியிலிருந்து மீனவர்கள் தப்பிப்பிழைப்பது பெரும் சவாலாக இருக்கிறது. ஆசிரியர் கூறுவதுபோல் அதிக கல்வியறிவு அடைந்த மாவட்டமான கன்னியாகுமரியிலேயே மீனவர்களின் கல்வியறிவு 50 சதவிதத்தைக்கூட எட்டவில்லை. மற்ற மாவட்ட மீனவர்களின் கல்வியறிவு மற்றும் பிற தொழிலறிவு குறித்து சொல்லத் தேவையில்லை.

அரசின் மகா திட்டங்களாலும் பாதிக்கப்படப்போகும் மீனவர்களுக்கு மறுவாழ்வு அளிக்க வந்த திட்டமான ‘கப்பாஃபைகஸ்’ நச்சுப்பாசி வளர்ப்பின் பின்னணி குறித்து அதிர்ச்சியூட்டுவது ஒரு கட்டுரை என்றால், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் வளிமண்டல வெப்பம் சில டிகிரி அதிகரிப்பதால் பனிப்பாறைகள் உருகிக் கடல் மட்டம் உயர்ந்து உலகம் அழிவை நோக்கி ராக்கட் வேகத்தில் போய்க் கொண்டிருக்கும் உண்மையைச் சொல்லி நம்மை பயமுறுத்துகிறது ‘முகம் மாறும் நிலம், மரம் ஏறும் மனிதன்’ கட்டுரை. அந்தமானின் ‘ஜாரவாஸ்’ பழங்குடிகள் போல் நாமும் எளிய முறையில் இயற்கையுடன் இயைந்து வாழப்பழகினால் என்ன என்ற கேள்வி எழுகிறது. உயிரின வளத்தைப் பூமிப்பந்திலிருந்து முற்றிலுமாக அழிக்காமல் நிற்காது போலிருக்கிறது அதிநவீன அறிவியல் வளர்ச்சி.

ஒரு வாசகர் இக்கட்டுரைகளைத் தன் துறைசார்ந்த அல்லது அரசியல் சார்ந்த கருத்தாக்கத்துடன் வாசிக்கும்போது மீனவ சமுகத்துடன் ஒரு உரையாடலைத் தொடர சாத்தியம் உள்ளது. ஒரு சமுகம் மொழியால் மட்டுமே இனிவரும் காலங்களில் உயிர்த்திருக்க முடியும். கதையாடல்கள் மூலமும் தன்னை ஆவணப்படுத்திக்கொள்வதன் மூலமும்தான் அச்சமுகம் எதிர்காலத்தை நோக்கி நகர முடியும். நீரை நோக்கி மட்டுமே உரையாடிக்கொண்டிருந்த மீனவச் சமுகம் இன்று நிலத்தை நோக்கிப் பொது வெளியில் உரையாடத் தொடங்கியிருக்கிறது. இதுவரைக்கும் வாசிக்கப்படாமலும் விவாதிக்கப்படாமலிருந்த மீனவத் துயரம் இன்று நம் மேசைக்கு வந்துள்ளது.

விடியலை நோக்கி – தடம் பதித்த பொது நிலையினர் சந்திப்பு

அறிவியலில் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்று, தூத்தூர் யூதா கல்லூரியில் பேராசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றும் கான்ஸ்டன்டைன் வறீதையா பல புத்தகங்களின் ஆசிரியர், நல்ல சிந்தனையளர், சிறந்த பொதுநிலையினர் ஒருவருக்கு எடுத்துக்காட்டு எனலாம். மனிதர்களையும் உலகத்தையும் நேசித்து, பெற்ற அனைத்தையும் நன்றியோடு நினைவில் கொண்டு, கிறிஸ்தவ சமுகத்தின் மீது பாசம் குறையாமல் நல்லதையே மனதில் தேக்கி, விமர்சனம் செய்யவும் அச்சப்படாமல் இருக்கும் ஒரு முதிர்ச்சியான பொது நிலையினர், ‘அமுது’ அவரை பேட்டி கண்டார்.

வறீதையா: மூன்றைப்பற்றிச் சொல்ல வேண்டும். நான் தொன்போஸ்கோ இளைஞர் இல்லத்தில் பயின்றவர். செர்வாசியூஸ் அடிகளார் நல்ல தலைவர்களை அழைத்துச் சிறந்த பயிற்சி அளித்தார்கள். அங்கு இருக்கும் போது ஐக்கப் அமைப்பில் சேர்ந்திருந்தேன். அருளப்பா போன்றவர்களின் உரைகளைக் கேட்க முடிந்தது. சமூகப்பார்வை கிடைத்தது. கல்லூரியில் தேசிய நாட்டு நலப்பணித்திட்ட அலுவலராகப் பலப்பல முகாம்கள் நடத்தியுள்ளோம். இவற்றில் சமூகத்தின்பால் ஈடுபாட்டை வளர்க்க முடிந்திருக்கிறது

அமுது: உங்கள் வாழ்வில் திருப்பம் ஏற்பட்ட கட்டங்களைப்பற்றிச் சொல்லுங்களேன்?

வறீதையா: 1997இல் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்ற காலம் முக்கியமானது. கடலோர பகுதிகளிலிருந்து படித்து முன்னேறிவிட்டவர்கள் வெளியேறிக் கொண்டிருந்தது எனது மனதைப் பாதித்தது. கடலோர வளர்ச்சிக்காக இன்னொரு தலைமுறை ஆவன செய்யும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த வேளையில் முனைவர் என்ற அங்கீகாரம் ஒரு அழைப்பாக வந்தது. டிசம்பர் 26, 2004, முக்கியமான திருப்பம். நான் பல காரியங்களைப்பற்றி வைத்திருந்த எண்ணம் தலைகீழாகப் புரட்டிப் போடப்பட்டது. எல்லாமே சுனாமிக்குமுன் அதற்குப்பின் என்று சொல்கிற வகையிலே மாற்றமடைந்தன.

அமுது: உங்கள் எழுத்துப்பணியில் வளர்ச்சி. . . .

வறீதையா: முனைவர் அங்கீகாரத்திற்குப் பின் என்னில் வந்து கொண்டிருந்தச் சிந்தனைகளைப் பதிவுசெய்ய விரும்பினேன். அவை என்னுடையவை மட்டுமல்ல, பலரின் கருத்துக்களை நான் பிரதிபலித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன் இவற்றைப் பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டுமென்று தோன்றியது.

கணியம் பத்திரிகையில் எழுதத் தொடங்கிய போது வெகுஜனத்தைத் தொடும் வகையில் எழுத முடியுமா என்ற சந்தேகம் இருந்தது. தட்டுத்தடுமாறிப் பேனாவைக் கையில் எடுத்தேன். ஆனால் பேனா என்னை விடமாட்டேன் என்று விட்டது. நான் 25-க்கு அதிகமான ஆய்வுக் கட்டுரைகள் எழுதியிருக்கிறேன். அதில் கிடைக்காத திருப்தி வெகுஜன எழுத்துக்களில் கிடைத்தது.

எனது எழுத்துக்களில் தீர்க்கமும் தெளிவும் இருப்பதாகச் சொன்னார்கள். எழுத்தால் வெகுஜனங்களைத் தொடமுடியும் என்ற உணர்வு எழுத்து எனது அழைப்பின் ஒரு பகுதியாக விளங்கத் துணை செய்தது. விளைவு,

அமுது: நமது மறைமாவட்டத்தில் குறிப்பாக கடலோரத்தில் பொதுநிலையினரின் நிலை எப்படி இருக்கிறது?

கத்தோலிக்கப் பாதிரியார்களைப் பற்றி. . . . .

ஆனால் பாதிரியார்களின் மொழியும் வழியும் பெரிதாய் மாறிவிடவில்லை. இன்றும் அவர்கள் கட்டளை மொழியை (Prescriptive language) விதியெழுதும் ஆகம மொழியை (Dogmatic language) பிரயோகித்து வருகிறார்கள். பொது மக்களின் பார்வையிலும் பாதிரிமார் பார்வையிலும் குருத்துவம் என்பது வெறும் பிழைப்புவழி என்று அடையாளம் காணப்படுகிறது. ஐம்பது வருடங்களுக்கு முன்புவரை கத்தோலிக்கக் கிராமங்களிலிருந்து செல்வச் செழுமையும் செல்வாக்கும் மிகுந்த குடும்பங்களிலிருந்துதான் குருமாணவர்கள் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டனர். இன்று செழுமையான வர்க்கமும் நடுத்தர வர்க்கமும் இறைசேவைக்கு பிள்ளைகளை அனுப்புவதில் முனைப்பு காட்டவில்லை. அடிமட்டக் குடும்பங்களிலிருந்துதான் குருக்கள் உருவாகிறார்கள். வார்ப்பும் வளர்ப்பும் சிறுபருவப் பின்னணியும் இந்த குருக்களின் சிந்தனைப் போக்கையும் செயல்பாடுகளையும் கட்டுப்படுத்துகின்றன. குருக்கள் தனித்தீவுகள் அல்ல. சராசரித்தனம் நிறைந்த மக்களோடு வாழ்பவர்கள்தாம். தொழில் நுட்பமும் காலமாற்றமும் கற்புநெறி, துறவு, பாலுறவு குறித்த குருக்களின் பார்வையில் அடிப்படை மாற்றங்களை ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கின்றன. மேலாதிக்கம் முற்றாண்மை மீது திருச்சபை அளவற்ற நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருக்கிறது. பெண்குருத்துவம் முதலிய சவால்களைத் திறந்த விவாதத்திற்கு உட்படுத்தும் துணிச்சலும் மனஉறுதியும் திருச்சபைக்கு இல்லாதிருக்கிறது.

கத்தோலிக்கத் திருச்சபையைக் குறித்து. . . . . . .

திருச்சபையின் இருத்தலையும் வரலாற்றுச் சாதனைகளையும் இருட்டடிப்பு செய்ய முடியாது. ஆனால் மதிப்பீடு செய்வது தவிர்க்க முடியாததது. திருச்சபையின் அடிப்படைக் கோளாறுகளாக நான்கு விசயங்களைப் பார்க்கிறேன்.

ஒன்று - இன்றைய திருச்சபை ஏழைகளுடன் இல்லை என்பது ஏழைகள் குறித்த பைபிளின் பார்வையும் திருச்சபையின் அணுகுமுறையும் நேர்கோட்டில் இல்லை.

இரண்டு - திருச்சபையின் அதிகாரச் சேகரம். அது கைக்கொண்டிருக்கும் முற்றாண்மை சமத்துவச் சித்தாந்தத்துக்கும் கிறிஸ்துவின் போதனைக்கும் எவ்வகையிலும் பொருந்தவில்லை. சான்றாக திரித்துவ மறைஉண்மை ஒரு முக்கோண உறவு வெளிப்பாடு. அதுபோன்றே கடவுள் – திருச்சபைத் தலைமை – விசுவாசிகள் என்பதும் முக்கோண சமதள உறவாகவே இருக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் திருச்சபை அதிகாரம் செங்குத்துக்கோட்டுறவாகவே மேலிருந்து திணிக்கும் ஒரு வழிப்பாதையாக இயங்குகிறது. இதைவிட ஆபத்தானது என்னவென்றால், இப்படி அதிகார சேகரமாய் இயங்குவதுதான் கடவுளின் திருவுள்ளத்தை நிறைவேற்றும் ஒரே உபாயம் என்று திருச்சபை நம்புவது.

மூன்று – குருமைய நிலைப்பாடு (Cclerico-Centrism):

‘கிறித்து அரசர்’ என்ற சொல்லாக்கம் பாதிரியார்கள் தரப்பில் தவறாக அணுகப்படுகிறது என்று நான் கருதுகிறேன். அன்பும் அமைதியும் நிலவும் சமூகத்துக்குக் கிறித்து தலைமை ஏற்கிறார் என்பதே ‘கிறித்து அரசர்’ என்ற பதத்தின் சரியான விளக்கமாக இருக்க முடியும், ‘என் அரசு இவ்வுலகைச் சார்ந்ததன்று’ என்ற கிறித்துவின் வாக்கு இதற்குச் சான்று. கிறித்துவை உலகின் அரசராகவும் தன்னை அந்த அரசின் ‘திவானாகவும்’ பாவித்துக் கொள்ளும் பாதிரியார் அதிகாரங்களைத் திரட்டித் தன்னை மையப்படுத்த முனைகிறார்; தன்னை கேள்விக்கு அப்பாற்பட்ட, புனிதத்துள் புனிதமான அதிகார அடுக்கின் கூறாகப் பார்க்கிறார். ‘உலகின் உப்பு’ என்ற அழைப்பு இங்கே சிதறிப் போகிறது. தன்னைக் கரைத்துக் கொள்வதன் மூலமே உப்பு உணவுக்கு ருசியூட்ட முடியும். உப்பின் நோக்கமும் அதுவே. அதிக பலன் கொடுப்பதற்காக புதையுறும் விதையாக மாறிவிடும் துணிவோ அதிகாரத்தைத் துறக்கும் தீர்க்கமோ இன்று பாதிரியார்களுக்கு இல்லை.

நான்கு – திருச்சபைக்குள் நிலவும் உட்பிரிவுகள்:

3. பொதுநிலையினரைப்பற்றி . . . . . .

‘பொதுநிலையினர்’ என்ற பதத்தையே நான் ஆட்சேபிக்கிறேன். விசுவாசிகள் (the faithful) திருச்சபையின் கடைநிலையினரல்ல; திருச்சபை அமைப்பின் இடுபொருளோ உற்பத்தியோ அல்ல, அதன் நோக்கும் இலக்கும் அவர்களே. புரோகிதச் சமூகத்தின் ஞானத்தை எதிர்நோக்கி, அவர்களின் தயவுக்காய்ப் பணிந்து நிற்க வேண்டியவர்களல்ல. திருச்சபையில் இறைமக்களின் இடம் என்னவென்பது இன்று வரை நடைமுறையில் அங்கீகரிக்கபபடவில்லை. இதுதான் முக்கிய செய்தி. இறைமக்களின் அழைத்தல் (vocation) என்பது இறைவாக்குரைஞனாய் வாழ்வது. நீதிக்காகத் துணிந்து குரல் கொடுப்பது. உலகியல் தளங்களில் முழுமையாகப் புகுவது. ‘உலகின் முகத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்கும் முழுப்பொறுப்பு பொது நிலையினரைச் சார்ந்தது’ என்று 43 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னரே இரண்டாம் வத்திக்கான் சங்கம் அறிக்கையிட்டது. கத்தோலிக்கர்கள் அரசியல் களத்தில் தடம் பதியாமல் போனது மிகப்பெரிய குறைபாடு. திருச்சபையின் கட்டளைக்காகக் காத்திருக்கும் போக்குதான் இதற்குக் காரணம்.

கத்தோலிக்க விசுவாசி எனப்படுபவரின் இரு கூறுகள் – உரிமை குடிமகன் (civilian), கிறித்தவ விசுவாசி (laity). இதில், ‘சிவிலியன்’ பெருங்கூறு, லெயிற்றி என்பது ஆன்மீக வாழ்வு சார்ந்த சிறுகூறு. திருச்சபை அதிகாரக்கட்டமைப்பு விசுவாசியின் முதற்பெருங்கூறான ‘சிவிலியன்’ பரிமாணத்தைக் கண்டுகொண்டதாகவே தெரியவில்லை. பங்கு நிர்வாகம் என்ற பெயரில் கிராம நிர்வாகம் திருச்சபையால் கையாளப்படுகிறது. தமிழகத்தின் 17 கத்தோலிக்க மறைமாவட்டங்களில் பொதுநிலையினர் பணிகுழுக்களில் ‘விசுவாசி’ செயலர் பொறுப்பு வகிக்கும் வாய்ப்பு ‘வழங்கப்பட்டிருப்பது’ ஆறில் மட்டும். இதில் கோட்டார் மறைமாவட்டம் முன்னோடி என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

4. கோட்டாறில் பொதுநிலையினர்:

விசுவாசிகள் (பொதுநிலையினர்) கடலோரத்திலும் உள்நாட்டிலும் இருவேறு விதங்களில் கையாளப்படுகின்றனர். கடற்கரையில் திருச்சபை அதிகாரிதான் மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் கூறுகளைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துகிறார். அறிவுபெற்ற, நடுத்தரவர்க்கம் சார்ந்த மக்கள் இதை முற்றாக வெறுக்கிறார்கள். பாமர மக்கள் வேறு உபாயங்கள் கண்ணில்படாத சூழலில் பாதிரியாரே கதி என்று கட்டுண்டு கிடக்கிறார்கள். இதுபற்றி பல்வேறு அறிவு ஜீவிகள் மற்றும் பாதிரியார்களின் கருத்துக்களை எனது நூல்களில் பதிவு செய்திருக்கிறேன். கல்வியறிவும் வெளி உலகத் தொடர்பும் கிடைத்து விட்டால் மக்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையைத் தாங்களே தீர்மானிக்கும் தெளிவு பெற்று விடுகிறார்கள். கல்வி கொடுப்பது மிக முக்கியமானது. அதே வேளையில், கல்வியும் மாற்றுத் தொழிலும் கைவந்தவர்கள் கடற்கரைச் சமூகத்தைத் திரும்பிப் பார்க்காமலே சென்று விடுகிறார்கள். இவர்களின் அறிவும் மனிதவளமும் சிறிதளவு இந்தக் கிராமங்களுக்குக் கிடைத்தால் நிலைமையை இலகுவாக மாற்ற முடியும். இதற்கு இணையாக மக்கள் விழிப்பூட்டப்பட்டு அணிதிரள வேண்டும். வெளிநாட்டு நிதி பெற்று இயங்கும் தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களுக்கு இது சாத்தியமல்ல. அறிவு பெற்ற இளைய தலைமுறை கங்கணம் கட்டிக்கொண்டு முன்வர வேண்டும்.

பாதிரியார்களின் வழிகட்டுதலும் கண்காணிப்பும் இல்லாமலும் பொதுநிலையினரால் வாழ்வியல் களங்களில் சாதிக்க முடியும். கருத்துப் புரட்சியை ஏற்படுத்த முடியும். கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளாக நாகர்கோவிலில் பொதுநிலையினர் நடத்திவரும் சமூக அரசியல் ஆய்வரங்கு இதற்கு ஒரு சான்று. நெய்தல் படைப்பாளிகள் சந்திப்பு மற்றொன்று. இது தமிழ்நாடு – பாண்டிச்சேரி நெய்தல் படைப்பளிகள் இயக்கம் உருவாகுவதற்குப் பொறியாய் அமைந்தது.

Às vezes, ajuda muito poder examinar determinadas condições do sistema enquanto um programa/script é executado, mais ou menos como quem está voando e verifica as condições meteorológicas. Não só em procedimentos de depuração, embora eu ache que estes sejam os casos mais comuns.

Na dica anterior, eu falei de introspecção com o comando [info]. Agora, veja que informações importantes pode-se obter de determinadas variáveis. Assim como a linguagem Bash tem uma série de variáveis reservadas para informações de depuração, Tcl/Tk tem as suas.

• env: contém um array com as variáveis de ambiente e seus respectivos valores. Tanto a forma quanto o conteúdo são muito parecidos com o que é retornado pelos comandos ‘env’ e ‘printenv’ em Bash. Para examinar um array, use o comando parray, e.g. [parray env].
• tcl_platform: outro array, este contém informações sobre a plataforma. O item mais valioso costuma ser $tcl_platform(platform), que indica se o ambiente é Windows, Linux/Unix ou Mac, entre outros. Com esta informação, fica fácil adaptar um programa para que ele rode em diversas plataformas sem engasgar nem pedir ajuda ao usuário. Exemplos da minha máquina:

  tcl_platform(platform)    = unix
  tcl_platform(os)          = Linux
  tcl_platform(osVersion)   = 2.6.24-23-generic
  tcl_platform(machine)     = i686
  tcl_platform(byteOrder)   = littleEndian

• tcl_patchLevel: é uma variável escalar que contém o número exato da versão de Tcl/Tk que está sendo usada para executar o programa. Por exemplo, 8.5.4. Serve para gerar mensagens de erro e admoestar o usuário caso ele esteja usando uma versão muito antiga de Tcl/Tk. Muita coisa importante só foi incorporada a partir da versão 8.4.0 (setembro de 2002).
• errorInfo: variável escalar, contém o texto de erro do último erro registrado durante a execução do programa. A maioria das linguagens interrompe a execução do programa em caso de erro. Em Tcl/Tk, é muito fácil ajustar o programa para ignorar erros e seguir em frente. Neste caso, o último erro ocorrido fica registrado nesta variável.
• argv: variável escalar, contém a lista dos argumentos com que o programa foi executado. Informação indispensável para a execução da maioria dos scripts. Se o programa não for executado com nenhum argumento, argv retorna vazia.
• argc: variável escalar, contém o número de argumentos com que o programa foi executado. É o mesmo que [llength $argv]. Serve para confirmar se o programa foi executado com o número mínimo, máximo ou exato de argumentos que o programa exige. Se o programa não for executado com nenhum argumento, argc retorna o número 0.
