We are still in the opening round and many, many bands/musicians will be included. Thanks and I hope you have fun with it! After we get a few sets completed, I’ll post a link to the results of all sets. My Q & A is open to those who wish to vote on previous day’s sets.
Who is hot…………..?
Ok, well this is creepy. I was listening to Andy Gibb and I though he was hot, so I looked at some pics online. I was so freaked out by the resevlence between Andy Gibb and Heath Ledger. You can’t possibly say they don’t look alike. It’s so weird. Look at the last pic…of Heath http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dheath%2Bledger%26fr%3Dfptb-acer%26toggle%3D1%26cop%3Dmss%26ei%3DUTF-8&w=481&h=600&imgurl=barefoot.provocateuse.com%2Fimages%2Fphotos%2Fheath_ledger_02.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fbarefoot.provocateuse.com%2Fshow%2Fheath_ledger&size=92.7kB&name=heath_ledger_02.jpg&p=heath+ledger&type=JPG&oid=52842a1d1390daae&no=5&tt=92,520&sigr=11i240nib&sigi=11ric9shs&sigb=132mjb8ak Here’s Andy! http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dandy%2Bgibb%26ni%3D18%26ei%3Dutf-8%26fr%3Dfptb-acer%26xargs%3D0%26pstart%3D1%26b%3D91&w=202&h=202&imgurl=www.andygibb.net%2Fimages%2Flp_greatest80.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.andygibb.net%2Fandygibb_greatest.html&size=16.4kB&name=lp_greatest80.jpg&p=andy+gibb&type=JPG&oid=cee9b2559e40e3dc&no=99&tt=6,210&sigr=11e2e15so&sigi=119juuc5s&sigb=13aengvtn I hadn’t ever known who Andy was until I got this urge to listen to the Bee Gees.

BEIJING (Reuters Life!) – A Chinese city with one of the nation’s highest rates of AIDS has opened a government-funded gay bar in an outreach effort that has stirred debate over the use of taxpayers’ money. The health department in Dali, a picturesque city on a lake in southwestern Yunnan province, funded the bar to reach out to China’s increasingly open gay community. Dali is one of the 10 cities in China most affected by AIDS.

Same-sex transmission accounts for about one-third of new HIV infections in China, the minister of health said this month.

“Some readers think that it’s a waste of taxpayer money, or an indirect endorsement of homosexual behavior,” the Beijing News said in an opinion piece on Monday, citing letters to the editor after it ran an article on the bar over the weekend.

“They think if there were another way to reach out to the gay community, it wouldn’t be necessary to open a bar.”

Founder Zhang Jianbo hopes that the bar will be a public gathering place for gay men, especially from rural villages, who used to gather in a patch of woods near the historic town.

The bar offers sex education and free condoms, in addition to companionship, Zhang said in an interview with the newspaper.

Though funded by the government, the bar is staffed by volunteers from a local non-government organization that works to prevent AIDS.

“Each year, the Dali city government spends 20,000 yuan ($2,929) on treatment drugs for AIDS. So if our bar succeeds in reducing transmission, our 120,000 yuan will be well-spend,” Jiang Anmin, deputy director of health in Dali, told the paper.

China’s gay community for decades lived in fear of discrimination and prejudice, with the earliest gay bars often the targets of police raids and closures while homosexuals often married women to avoid family and social pressures.

China now has about 100,000 known AIDS cases, but some health experts worry that HIV could spread easily among migrant workers and other hard-to-reach sectors. The government has switched to a strategy of outreach to the gay community, as part of efforts over the past few years to fight the spread of HIV.

“In the past the government relied on NGOs to reach out to the gay community,” Bing Lan, director of outreach organization Aibai, told Reuters.

“Now there’s a change, in that some local health bureaus feel they are able to reach out to the community themselves.”

But one unintended consequence of outreach efforts in parks, bars and bathhouses frequented by gay men, Bing said, is that some gay men now avoid those haunts for fear of being found out.

“Today I saw a blog, saying that when the bar in Dali has its official opening on World Aids Day, no-one will dare to go because there will be too many reporters there,” he said.

Episode 9 is probably the most worth watching episode so far in the entire series because of its uncensored fan service, and character development.

Summery:

Junpei joins his friend to “study in the library” for an up coming exam, but little did he know that they’ll end up hanging out in an indoor pool instead. At the pool Junpei met a cat that needs help getting out, and with the help of Kanako they successful helped the cat, which caused him to catch a cold the next day. Knowing Junpei caught a cold, Kanako used the “bring a printout to him from school” excuse came and visits him. Which leads us to some romance character developments between those two.

One of my roommates was catching the rest of us up after our Thanksgiving apart, and she told us something kinda disturbing and unexpected. Apparently, her uncle was asked by one of his friends to be the best man in his wedding. To a mail order bride.

Like, for real this guy is going to China soon to pick up the wife he bought.

This has a Law & Oder: SVU episode written all over it.

I just didn’t think this really happened! I mean, I know in history it did, even in America from one coast to another (for example, see the movie or read the book “Sara, Plain and Tall”). But now? How is that not outlawed for being flat out creepy?

And apparently this guy was married before and has a son in college, but how do you tell this type of thing to your family? I can just see him at Thanksgiving dinner, “Oh son, by the way, after I drop you back off at school, I’m heading to China to pick up your new mommy. Pass the yams, please?”

I can’t even quite wrap my mind around it. None of us could. So we Googled “mail order bride” and a legit website seemed to come up where you could actually pick what country you wanted your wife to come from. But it’s so creepy!!!

I’m taking a creative writing course down at a university because I want to be an author one day. I am currently 17 years old and I go to a private catholic high school. I am also in 11th grade. Turns out that I’m the only boy in that class…The other 7 students are girls and the professor is as well. The class is open discussion and stuff, so we all talk to one another and we also take turns reviewing each others work. There’s these 2 girls who sit across from me in that class: One is a junior, like me, and the others a sophomore…They’re both pretty but I think the sophomore is especially cute. I myself, I guess I’m not too bad looking… I’ve had girls tell me I’m cute before…Honestly, I’m a really shy person…I’m not very outgoing or enthusiastic. When I’m supposed to do something in class I’m usually really sarcastic and funny about it and I can make a lot of the girls in class laugh. I honestly don’t know what exactly these girls think of me….. I’m not interested in hooking up with them or anything, but I don’t know if they like me (in a friendly way) or if they’re just teasing me for fun and think I’m a loser… Some stuff that’s happened includes… 1.) On Halloween, just for fun, we played this game where we went around in a circle and had to make up a continuation of a random story… Everyone in the class laughed when I said something… (usually it was really random or stupid..) The sophomore, when it was her turn, said I got eaten by a bunch of zombies and she was like all “haha, your dead..” (kind of like a 5 year old) I would sometimes say some random horror icon entered the story when it was my turn… The junior across from me ‘freaked out’ in like a funny way and was like “WHAT IS WITH YOU AND THESE MONSTERS??” (She didn’t really say it in an angry way..) 2.) All the girls in class were constantly taking candy from the table and the 2 girls across from me started arguing (again, in a goofing off way) that the other one was going to get fat from eating all the candy. The sophomore then was like “I think YOU should get all the candy” (cuz i hadn’t taken any..) Then the Junior was like SHOVE THAT ALL IN YOUR MOUTH RIGHT NOW (it was a lot of candy..) I just smiled and I was like “Maybe next time…” 3.) These two girls have given very long reviews of my work in class, first off saying that they liked it, and explaining how it interested them, but also saying very dramatic things like “It was beautiful!” and “That was awesome!!” (I don’t think those were really sarcastic remarks though, I think they honestly liked what I wrote…) 4.) Today, the sophomore asked me why I never talked and begged me to talk more. The two girls asked what my full name was, age, where I lived, what it was like there, and they also talked about what their homes and schools were like…The sophomore asked me if I had seen that new horror movie “The Fourth Kind”, which I hadn’t, and said that it was so scary that she slept with her parents that night. 5.) The two girls started calling me by my entire name (First, middle and last) and asked if I thought they were annoying. Later, when walking around in a book store, they spotted me and I acted like I was running away and then the junior caught up to me and gave me a hug. The two of them then started following me around the store like stalkers so I just acted like I didn’t notice them. The junior commented on how she was acting like she was in kindergarten again. When we were walking around, she would keep looking back at me, smiling. 6.) While walking through the city, some dude came up to me (speaking in rhymes) and said he could tell I liked hip-hop. I told him “No, actually…” and he asked if there was something wrong with my head and I was just like “I guess so…” The sophomore came up to me and asked what happened and said I should have negotiated to get the cd the guy was selling for free. I said I wasn’t supposed to take things from strangers…what if I listened to the cd and then got HIV or something??… I think she thought that was kind of funny. I’m not interested in having girlfriends or hooking up with these girls..They live in a different city than I do anyway. Honestly, I don’t really have much experience being around girls, so I don’t really know what to think.

i just got a new bike, and everyone (including strangers) have stopped me to tell me how nice it looks. my goal now, is to make the bicycle less appealing (no eye candy), and i’ve heard you can “tape” your bike. how? google search got me nowhere.

How do you duct tape a bicycle?
1.If a person with multiple personalities threatens suicide, is that considered a hostage situation? 2.If parents say, “Never take candy from strangers” then why do we celebrate Halloween? 3.Why do doctors leave the room when you change? They’re going to see you naked anyway. 4.If girls with large breasts work at Hooters, then do girls with one leg work at IHOP? 5.Why do we sing “Rock a bye baby” to lull a baby to sleep when the song is about putting your baby in a tree and letting the wind crash the cradle on the ground? 6.Why do people say “heads up” when you should duck? 7.Why do they report power outages on TV?

How would you answer these random questions?

If parents say, “Never take candy from strangers” then why trick or treat?
I live in NSW Oz and on the 31st i had alot of children and teenagers come to my house. I was concerned as some of these children were little and were un supervised. We spend so much time explaining stranger danger to our children and make sure they know not to go into a strangers house, is halloween diminishing our efforts of keeping our kids safe?? Candy is enticing to children and there are so many ways people could use it to manipulate the innocence of a child. I think its an American tradition and one that they hold importantly and i respect that, but should we encourage it in Australia? If u asked any child the history of Halloween would they be able to explain it? Am i just over reacting or does anyone else feel the same? Its just a thought of mine and i would be interested to hear your thoughts. I am 20years old and a child care worker i do not have children of my own but i do know easily a child can be manipulated!

Parents of Aussie kids and halloween. your opinions please voice yours!!?
Okay, i’ve never ever been trick-or-treating. Not even as a little kid. Its wrong! The number of times people say to their kids ‘Don’t take candy from strangers, you don’t know what can happen’ Or ‘Don’t talk to strangers’ And by letting them go trick or treating your encourging them to knock on strangers doors and get candy from them! What do you think?

Trick-or-treating is WRONG (read decription)?
I know what most Australians do, but do Americans parents really send their kids out at night knocking on strangers doors, asking for candy?? Isnt this a bit dangerous?

Strangers with Candy is a television series produced by Comedy Central. It first aired on April 7, 1999, and concluded its third and final season on October 2, 2000. Its timeslot was Sundays at 10 p.m. (ET). It was replaced by the Comedy Central show Strip Mall.

The series’ main character, Jerri Blank (played by Amy Sedaris), was a runaway returning to high school as a freshman at age 46 at the fictional Flatpoint High School in the town of Flatpoint.

Created and written by Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello, Stephen Colbert, and Mitch Rouse, the show was a spoof of the after school specials of the 1970s and 1980s and was also inspired, at least in part, by a 1970 public-service film, The Trip Back, that featured a reformed drug addict named Florrie Fisher (see “Origin” below). Sedaris, Colbert, Dinello, and Rouse were cast members of the short-lived Comedy Central series Exit 57; they, along with Greg Hollimon and many other stars of the series, were also alumni of Chicago’s Second City comedy troupe.

According to the show’s animated introduction, Jerri ran away from home and became “a boozer, a user, and a loser” after dropping out of high school as a teenager, supporting her drug habits through prostitution, stripping, and larceny. She has been to prison several times, the last time because she, in her words, “stole the TV.”

Every episode featured a theme or moral lesson, although the lessons were often amoral or warped; in an episode about eating disorders, Jerri learns that it’s OK to become an anorexic because it will get people to pay attention to you. When Jerri’s father passes away in the episode “The Goodbye Guy,” Jerri learns the valuable lesson, “You never really ‘lose’ your parents. Unless of course they die. Then they’re gone forever. And nothing will bring them back.” In another episode, Jerri learned that “violence really isn’t the only way to resolve a conflict, but it’s the only way to win it.”

Each episode ends with the cast and other featured actors from the episode dancing.

The series was first envisioned by Dinello and Colbert, both of whom had seen a Scared Straight!–type public-service film called The Trip Back, in which motivational speaker Florrie Fisher recalled her days as a New York prostitute to a group of high-school students. Seeing that Fisher strongly resembled their friend Amy Sedaris, they showed her a copy of the tape and, suitably impressed with Sedaris’s imitation of Fisher, began developing a series based around the idea of Fisher going back to high school herself. The three, along with Mitch Rouse, combined this concept with lampooning the after school specials they had all been subjected to in high school, along with the short-lived mid-1990s teen series My So-Called Life. Much of Jerri’s past is taken from anecdotes in The Trip Back, some of which were also included in Fisher’s autobiography, The Lonely Trip Back. Several lines of dialog in the series were taken verbatim from Fisher’s public-service film.

It is arguable that Jerri Blank has become even more famous than the woman that inspired her; while Strangers with Candy became a cult success, Florrie Fisher sank into obscurity in the 1980s. Today, much speculation among fans of the series revolves around finding out whatever happened to Fisher.

On February 7, 2006, movie company ThinkFilm announced that it had acquired the distribution rights to a feature film based on the series. The film, a prequel to the television show, was completed in 2004 and acquired by Warner Independent at Sundance in 2005, but release of the film was delayed due to legal clearance issues. Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, and Paul Dinello reprised their roles for the film; several other characters were recast. In addition to acting, Colbert is a co-producer and Dinello is a director for the film. Worldwide Pants, a production company owned by comedian David Letterman, was also a producer. This is the company’s first feature film production. A teaser trailer for the film was released in April 2006 (see “External links”). The initial theater release was June 28, 2006, in the New York City area, followed by the remainder of the United States on July 7. A DVD of the film was released in November 2006. Amy Sedaris said of Jerri Blank that “she’s like a rash; you never know when she’s going to pop up.”

Both slots were new releases at the 2009 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. In “American Idol,” slot players can trigger a bonus round that lets them become one of three judges — Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi or Randy Jackson — and then plays video clips of past contestants, good AND bad.

According to Sphere.com, Paula Abdul was the lone holdout participant even BEFORE she announced she was leaving the show. Innnteresting.

Meanwhile, the “Sex and the City” slot machines are subtitled “Change of a Dress.” Clever, no? They feature bonus rounds that include video clips of all four women plus Mr. Big.

International Game Technology spokeswoman Julie Brown told Sphere, “There’s shoes and purses and lots of bling and big bonuses and the music track, and it’s a very interactive game.”

409 – Brother’s Keeper A pick-up episode in terms of both pacing and storyline, continuing the up-an

409 – Brother’s Keeper

A pick-up episode in terms of both pacing and storyline, continuing the up-and-down bumps the series has been putting its viewers through lately.

In exchange for Charlie, Samuel wants Hiro to go back in time eight weeks to the night he murdered Mohinder Suresh. He doesn’t want the whining exposition bag saved – instead he wants a film can from 1961 brought back. Unfortunately, Hiro can’t focus enough to time travel.

Other stories include Tracey losing control of her powers and not knowing what to do about it. In a change from the normal boring storyline, she seeks out old man Bennett, only to find Claire and some excellent CGI as the ice queen accidentally freezes both a full bath and everyone’s favourite healing girl – although we are still denied a truly excellent money shot of Claire regrowing a whole foot.

The Haitian seeks out the Petrelli boys, finding Peter and Nathan – the Real Sylar, try to keep up at the back – and tells Peter that their mother wants their memories erased, instead he hands Peter an address and tells him to go alone. Naturally, he doesn’t and the Petrellis discover the body of the real Nathan, setting them off on a quest to find to find Parkman.

The bulk of the episode, however, is set eight weeks in the past, as Mohinder once again goes through his father’s research and discovers that Samuel:
a) was born in Coyote Sands
b) has powers that will increase by a thousand if he surrounds himself with the right super-powered people
c) has a compass to seek out the individuals.
This sends Mohinder off to find the man himself at the carnival, only to be warned off by Joseph and told to destroy the film.

While the episode is not without its flaws – didn’t Mohinder’s story end when they bailed out of turning him into a lizard? Why does anybody want more Mohinder? Why is Claire in this when it could be Bennett? – it’s definitely got its fair share of cracking scenes. There’s the ice-based delights of Tracey’s uncontrollable powers to the genuinely exciting confrontation in Parkman’s hospital suite as the overlong and bloated story of Sylar’s mind and body finally comes to an end. We could have done without Hiro saving Mohinder, but it’s all worth it for the idea that Mohinder is now trapped in a psychiatric hospital and is probably going crazy for the eight weeks he must remain there. Likewise, Tracey’s will-she-won’t-she arc comes to an end as Samuel welcomes her into her new home.

It’s not perfect by any means and it’s certainly not the best episode of the series so far, but it ends several dangling plot strands and gives the story as a whole a much-needed kick up the arse. Maybe, though, Hiro shouldn’t have saved Mohinder? The last thing we need is another bloody character getting in the way, while the cliffhanger suggests that the story of Sylar’s return isn’t quite finished yet. You bastard, Kring.

Four stars
