We met up with Karina , Derek, Cheryl and Erwin yesterday and it was a lovely meet up. Just having fun and hearing them talk about work.

In der letzten Woche haben wir unser erster Maskottchen der Woche präsentiert, nämlich die Zaubermaus vom VfL Bochum: Bobbi Bolzer.

In dieser Woche befinden wir uns ca. 14 km Luftlinie nordwestlich vom Bochumer Rewirpowerstadion, nämlich in der Schalker Veltins-Arena.  Das 61.673 Plätze fassende Stadion ist nicht nur die Heimat des FC Schalke 04, sondern auch die des vereinseigenen Maskottchen namens Erwin.

Erwin ist im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Bundesliga-Maskottchen jedoch kein Tier, sondern ein Mensch. Natürlich trägt er der  lustige 2-Meter-Hühne ein Schalker-Trikot und hat darüber hinaus auch eine Baseball-Kappe seines Vereins auf dem Kopf.  Die Kappe wirkt bei dem überdimensionalen Kopf von Erwin jedoch eine Nummer zu klein und die Augen des Maskottchen sieht man aufgrund der tief ins Gesicht gezogenen Mütze auch nicht. Dafür hat Erwin nicht nur einen überdimensionalen Kopf, sondern auch eine riesige Nase. Alles in allem eine lustige Kreatur.

Als Maskottchen verkörpert Erwin das, was Schalke vor allem ausmacht – die einzigartigen und treuen Fans, die zu Schalke in guten und schlechten Zeiten halten. Bei den Heimspielen dreht Erwin unermüdlich seine Runden um das Spielfeld und animiert das Publikum zu Höchsleitungen und nicht selten jubelt er bei Toren seiner Schalker zusammen mit den Spielern. So geschehen nach einem Tor des damaligen Schalkers Ailton. Leider feierte der Brasilianer zu heftig und sprang wie wild auf das Maskottchen, sodass Erwins Kopf abfiel und 60.000 Zuschauer und die dutzenden TV-Kameras freie Blicke auf denjenigen ergattern konnten, der sonst unter dem Kostüm steckt.

Doch trotz des peinlichen Auftritts  ist und bleibt Erwin ein Aushängeschild des Vereins. Der Knappe ist gefragt wie selten zuvor und kommt unter dem Slogan „Erwin unterwegs“ als Schalke Botschafter zu Geburtstagen, Betriebsfesten, Hochzeiten, Sport-Events und anderen Veranstaltungen.

A lo mejor lo que pensamos que son recuerdos de otras vidas, son recuerdos de otras dimensiones de otros yo, haciendo cosas totalmente diferentes. ¿Nunca les ha pasado que conocen a una persona y sienten como si lo conocieran desde hace mucho y se quedan pensando, tal vez en algún otro lugar si l@ conocí?.

Seria fantástico poder viajar a las diferentes realidades para visitarnos a nosotros mismos y apreciar en que nos convertimos y que pudimos haber hecho en circunstancias diferentes. They might have looked like a bus load of ordinary tourists, but the folks on this particular adventure were local officials who gathered information on the Chemung River’s access, sites, structure, topography and history throughout Steuben County.

The recent 3-hour, 10-mile tour was part of the Southeast Steuben River Visions Project to weave the river into the area’s economic, recreational and environmental future, according to a note from my friend and former colleague, Jim Pfiffer, Friends of the Chemung River Watershed director. It was one of the early steps in a long-range plan to develop and protect the waterway.

While much of the tour concentrated on improving existing river trails and building and connecting new trails and communities along the water way, the data collected will also be used to combine those factors with the region’s recreation, tourism, economic development and regional identity.

Tour participants got a first-hand look at the river, its boat launches, existing trails and natural beauty. “It was great for people to see the river up close and realize the challenges and exciting opportunities it offers,” Jen Fais, principal planner with Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board, stated in prepared remarks.

Jen helped secure a $26,430 New York State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program Grant for the project. That money was matched by local municipalities, for a total of $52,860, Jim wrote.

The tourists — officials from Corning, Erwin, Riverside, South Corning, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board, Friends of the Chemung River Watershed, landscape architect Rick Manning and Haas Landscape Architects — will eventually produce a vision plan for the river.

Public input will likely be sought after the holidays.

Aduuuh bingung uy! mau datang ke dua-duanya! Yaudah lah, datangnya ke acara nikahan Mas Erwin saja, selain dekat juga bisa dijangkau dalam satu hari.

I’ve got a belated birthday present from the dearest boy. A red hot fifth generation iPod Nano!

I’ve always liked the nano, but I hated that it didn’t have the FM function so I didn’t think the cost was justified since I could get something more for a lower cost if I get a Creative. So yay! And! Red was of a special edition, in support of the AIDS cause in Africa And And! He wrote a really really sweet inscription at the back

I think I’m speechlessly touched.

We met up with Karina and Cheryl and the respective partners for Belgium Mussels at Oosters, and then desserts at TCC. Only the pictures of the girls turned out nicely so there!

Många hemsidor som handlar om hund presenterar innehavaren som vetenskapligt arbetande. Själv använder jag mig av kunskap som kommer från praktisk erfarenhet från alla de hundar (och kor och hästar och katter och grisar…) som passerat i mitt liv på under olika omständigheter. Men jag använder mig också av kunskap som kommer från den teori jag läst av Konrad Lorenz, biologistudier på Sthlms Universitet samt organisationspsykologi och en terapeutisk utbildning som också slunkit in. Artiklar och föreläsningar har både svarat på frågor och skapat nya. En del “påståenden” jag stött på har jag på grund av tidigare inhämtad kunskap och personliga erfarenheter valt bort.

Det jag har valt bort är t ex varje form av våld och smärta och likaså överdrivet manipulativt kontrollerande av hunden. En hund önskas vara under kontroll men ska inte vara kontrollerad. Personligen har jag dragit slutsatsen genom att notera hur stress ser ut i verkligheten och hur den utvecklas – att en liten “egenkontroll” (och smärta) skapar stressade hundar med aggressiva eller apatiska uttryck. (Obs min tolkning. Prövad av mig i verkligheten och djupt förankrad i mitt synsätt vad gäller människor och djur och vår samexistens och även benämnt respekt.)

Min praktiska erfarenhet lärde mig tidigt i livet vad som fungerade och vad som inte gick så bra med hundar och konsekvensen blev att jag frågade mig varför det ena funkade och inte det andra. Jag sökte teoretiska svar och ett språk för mina teorier och tankar. Jag var först oerhört målstyrd och sökte en hund som skulle kunna massor, nu är jag målinriktad och söker en hund som ska få det “bra i livet”.

På 50-60-70-talet “visstes” det också mycket om hundar och det skrevs böcker och man fick instruktion på dressyrkurser och jag gick kurs i hundpsykologi långt före Anders Hallgren och hans hundpsykologi. I Tyskland fick jag som svensk vorstehägare och kvinna inte vistas för nära vorstehträning. ”Keine frauen” skrek man och körde bort mig. Vi kvinnor, vi förstörde hundarna. Vi ”softade” till dem. Han kom till Sverige – Erwin och såg min vorsteh och var irriterad, ”du håller på för mkt med hunden”, sa han. Fast dom svenska vorstehgubbarna var mer liksom impade av tonåringen med en korthårig. De var ganska gulliga förutom de gubbar som tyckte att “det inte var en hund för fruntimmer”.

Det var också en sorts vetenskap, tillämpad hundhållning, beprövad erfarenhet, men idag sedd med viss skepsis av det synliga hundsverige, även om en och annan utövare av mjuka metoder, mjukt nyper till sin hund så att den tjuter.

Det heter aldrig vetenskap, det heter vetenskap och beprövad erfarenhet. En tes/teori som prövas i motsats eller jämförelse till något annat oftast, kan sägas vara en vetenskaplig slutsats, men det är min uppfattning är att det är lyssnarens ansvar att själv analysera underlaget och pröva hållbarheten i den presenterade vetenskapen. En vetenskaplig prövning är inte sanningen, men någon sorts sanning en av tusentals säkerligen.

Rasbiologi för människor t e x har varit statligt finansierat och setts som ”vetenskap”, på 70-talet ansågs spädbarn vetenskapligt sakna känsel och bara vara små paket, historien är full av vetenskaplig idioti och livsfarliga slutsatser, men ändock hyllat vid något tillfälle av flera som vetenskap och alltså ”sant”. En veterinär med docentur berättade för mig att hans avhandling idag var som ett skämt. Kallas utveckling att vyerna vidgas via kritik och ifrågasättande och en rakt motsatt idé. Det är vetenskap. Att pröva teorierna och förändra dem.

Varje presenterad slutsats och idé har ett utgångsläge och det är hur den plattformen ser ut som vi måste fundera på. Vilka variabler har man identifierat och satt samman. Inte tveklöst köpa allt som benämns vetenskapligt utan att ifrågasätta.

I våra försök att förstå, kontrollera och beskriva verkligheten som pågår oavsett vad vi drar för slutsatser, så ska vi inte glömma ödmjukheten, för högmod är dumhetens moder och dumheten är oändlig, utan gräns – det är det som gör att det är så dumt.

Min egen vandring har i praktiskt hundbemötande via teorier och erfarenheter gått från en hundsyn som var ganska omedveten och barnslig till en respektfull, tillåtande, imponerad och ödmjuk. Förmånen att få ha dessa djur i mitt liv och hur mitt liv på skilda sätt berikats av dem. Och det faktum att i alla år har mitt hundförhållande varit efter förmåga fyllt av kärlek till mina hundar och andras. Det är också vetenskap och beprövad erfarenhet ….kärleksrelationen.

I had a lot of ‘firsts’ in this engagement shoot.  It was my first engagement where it started out with some drinks at the bar.  Also my first engagement shoot with the girl ‘expecting’.  And lastly, my first time encounter with skid row when we drove through it. So this lovely couple was photographed at Union Station and LACMA (or as Erwin would say LAMCO)  Erwin was actually really nervous before and during the beginning the shoot despite his denying it, which is also the reason why we were at the bar first.  But, I really don’t think he looked awkward or nervous in any of his photos.  And I actually don’t know why he was conscious about his smile, as I told him ‘you smile just fine.” He looked perfectly fine in all his photos, as you can see.

My favorite photo out of all the ones we took is the second to last one, where Betzy is kissing Erwin in a vintage porsche, because it has that really really cool 1960’s look to it.  As we were shooting at the LACMA there were a bunch of people there that seemed like they were a wedding party, due to the fact that there was a woman in a wedding dress and everyone else is in suits and dresses.  But apparently they said they were just a bunch of friends just hanging out, and one of the gentlemen allowed us to use their porsche he said “you can do anything you want with it.” As a result, Erwin wanted to drive off in it.

The long engagement session ended with an mouth-watering dinner at Blue Dahlia’s which made my day. They make BOMB burgers. Thank you Elaine. I’m still thinking about those succulent and enormous patties as I write about this.

So let me explain the shot below.  Erwin works at the OC Register, and I thought it would be kinda interesting to have them read one, and it worked well because it was at Union Station.

The man Paul describes in Romans 12 is awesomely three-dimensional: He sacrifices his life for a cause. His words and his actions line up. He’s a leader, a servant, a caregiver. There’s a caring side to him, and it shows in how he treats those around him.

Look at how you treat others and you’ll readily see either a transformed life or a life still consumed with self. To find out which applies to you, ask yourself, When confronted with someone in need, what’s my first reaction? Do I evade and run? Or do I say, “Tell me more. Let’s talk it through. Maybe I can help.”

Your gut-level response will tell you whether you’re a man who isn’t afraid to order quiche from the menu.

The Erwin hat by Goorin is a really cute floral fedora that is made by the cream of the crop as far as hat makers go. The company has been making hats since 1892, back when hats were a necessity and not an option to go with out one. For $38, day or night, you’ll stay and look cool.

What could be more appropriate for the upcoming fall season than a darling acorn necklace? Even better, the top of the acorn screws off. It’s made by Georgia Varidakis, a local Brooklyn designer, and it could be draping around your neck for $78.
