Why do people drive to the grocery store in their Escalades only to pay with their EBT cards? If you can afford a Caddy, you don’t need an EBT card. But if you do need welfare, how did you manage to afford an Escalade?

“Can I have a Big Mac, no lettuce, extra mayo, large fries and large diet Coke?” DIET Coke? Really? At that point, you think that actually makes a difference?

So what is a budget and how to make sense of these charges and credits? Relax. It 'very simple once you get to a few simple rules.

First, what is a budget? It is easier to understand when you get a photo taken with a camera to think. It 'a frozen moment in time, where you can see all what were the balances. It is always assigned to a specific date. E 'a snapshot of a company or the financial position of a person in a given time.

So,What is the "balance" part mean? Simple. It has 2 sides and 2 sides (or top and bottom), always balanced. Are the same amounts of the things they. But what are these two things? Easy! These are two "views" of society. How did a coin has two faces, one company or another person, two ways to do it (on the left side or top) lists all the assets of the company or the individual belongs.

The other side (right or downHalf) shows that owns the assets of the company. Another way to say "who is the owner of" the faculty that has an interest in such activities? The balance will result in the idea that the common sense of any good to anyone owns or has an interest in the object.

Left side is the portion of debt is the right side of credit. They have, in other words, the objects on the left side, activities should be, balances, things are) on the right side (liabilities and equity funds listed.

Note: The rightThe page consists of two parts, the liabilities and equity. Or someone outside the company of a property right (ha, bank loans, suppliers) on the assets or the owner has the right to what is left-equity firms. It's like your house, the house itself, the property is, the mortgage is a liability, the difference between what is and what is due both to equity.

Thus, any increase in an asset becomes a liability, because the asset side is the part of the debt. Any increase in debt or capital must be aCredit card with its firm position on the right position. On the contrary, evidence of purchase, the credit to a debt or charge capital would be reduced. See how easy?

General Motors has always been a big car company.  Soon after its founding in 1908 with the Buick division, they acquired Oldsmobile, then Cadillac, Elmore, Oakland, Rapid Motors and Reliance Truck, and later Chevrolet. So, it’s no wonder that their strategy has always embodied the “bigger is better” mantra, expanding to new divisions to fill perceived holes and purchasing rivals when they felt the price was right.

But as we all now know, this strategy was not necessarily the right one. Focusing on the current divisions owned (or recently sold/shuttered) by GM, here’s how I feel each division should be handled.

Chevrolet:  The blue-collar brand with the blue bow tie.  This division should be GM’s bread and butter, directly competing with Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda.  These cars should be everyman’s vehicles; reasonably priced with the features that the public expects out of their vehicles.  Reliability and value should be the focus of the Chevrolet brand.

Cadillac:  “The Standard of The World” needs to put up or shut up with that phrase.  It was true 40 years ago, it’s not anymore.   That being said they have a competent lineup with some exciting product, and if they can move past the “bling” era of Escalades and come out with some cars that are truly world beaters, they could be The Standard again.

Buick: I’m not sure anyone outside of China really cares about Buick anymore.  The new Lacrosse is a great car cursed with a poor brand image.  Were it up to me, Buick would become a division in China only.  The LaCrosse would be mildly re-skinned as an entry-level Cadillac, giving it the name to truly compete with the Lexus ES350.

GMC Truck: I have often wondered, what is the point of GMC truck?  Every vehicle they sell (or ever have sold) has an identical vehicle sold by Chevrolet, just with a slightly different grille.  So, I ask, why would you split the sales of your full size truck, a very competitive segment, in half?  I don’t think there are that many people who absolutely prefer one brand’s grille over the other.  GMC Truck should go back to what GMC Truck used to do: Commercial trucks, medium duty and above, leaving the light duty and SUV categories to Chevrolet to cover.  Who knows, a “unified” Chevrolet Silverado might just give the Ford F-150 a run for its money.

Saab: GM Purchased 50% of Saab in 1989 and purchased the remaining 50% in 2000.  I’m still trying to figure out why. The second 50% was likely in response to Ford’s purchase of Volvo in 1999 and the Daimler-Chrysler merger in 1998.  Saab never had the reputation Volvo or Mercedes have, so it still seems like a superfluous purchase to me.  All I’ve ever really known of Saab is that they like to put their ignition in a funny place.   I’ve ridden in a couple 9-5 and 9-3’s over the years as my girlfriends grandparents are Saab owners, and they’re comfortable cars and well featured, if a bit small and expensive.   The Saab name has value, maybe not as much as GM would like to get out of it, but some money is better than no money.  The sell strategy should stay.

Saturn: The division that was to revolutionize GM when it was launched in 1990 became the butt of many jokes about GM’s badge engineering strategy 10 years later.  The original Saturn SL and SC’s were fantastic cars.  Well built, and reliable, I have quite a few friends still running ones that have seen more abuse than any car should.  But the Ion which replaced it was a piece of junk, and each vehicle that came after it was something you could get at any other GM store.  Oddly enough that strategy changed slightly towards the end; the Astra was a rebadged Opel, and your Saturn store was the only place in the US you could get one.  Decent car, but too little, too late to save Saturn.  The name doesn’t have the history to carry it back to glory, so I think the sell strategy should stick around.  Like Saab, GM should take what it can get.

Hummer: Can you think of any brand that rose and fell faster than Hummer?  A victim of a sudden change in consumer taste due to insanely high oil prices, Hummer’s name is now synonymous with the excesses of the early 2000’s, global warming, and needing to compensate for something.  I’ve never been a huge Hummer fan; probably because I grew up in a Jeep household and own a Jeep myself.  I’ve found them too big and lumbering to be truly useful off-road, although the H2 I drove on a GM test loop in Las Vegas did better than I was expecting.  Selling Hummer was the right move, as I don’t think it will stop being the climate change whipping-boy anytime in the near future.  GM should use what it learned with Hummer to produce some Chevrolet SUV’s that can better compete with Jeep and Toyota; that means take the good from Hummer and put it in a smaller package.

Pontiac:  Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been calling for their demise for years.  Good riddance.  Although I would have sold the brand off.

Daewoo: GM purchased Daewoo, a Korean car manufacturer, in 1999.  GM had worked joint ventures with Daewoo prior to this, resulting in forgettable products such as the 1986 Pontiac LeMans.  Daewoo sold its own line of cars in the US briefly in the mid 90’s.  Nobody, other than my neighbor who owns one seemed to notice.  GM bought Daewoo for their small car expertise.  Considering the reputation of Korean auto manufacturing at the time, that seems like a joke to me.  Daewoo seems to be about 15 years behind Hyundai and Kia in product quality, and GM had two much better small car partners in Suzuki and Subaru, not to mention the NUMMI venture with Toyota.  All GM seemed to buy from Daewoo was their problems.  Sell it; maybe Hyundai would be interested.

Holden: Some of the coolest GM North America products in the past few years have come out of Holden, but nobody seems interested in them other than car enthusiasts.  They sell very well in Australia, and have done well for decades making good cars on a shoestring budget without much help from GM central.  These are your inside-outsiders who need to be promoted up to corporate to spread that knowledge around.

Vauxhall/Opel: I put these two together because they sell the same cars in different European markets.  They’re doing well, and make some great product that unfortunately costs too much to be viable in America.  Both are necessary to GM’s image as a global car maker, and should not be sold.  While the cars themselves are too expensive for North America, they pilot quite a bit of technology that GM can use globally.

Thats it for now.  A smaller, leaner GM is the GM of the future, shedding any divisions that it doesn’t need.  My next few blogs will focus on business level strategy for each brand and their models.

Tiger Woods has some seriously sad days ahead of him.  Let’s face it most men in Hollywood are saying, “Thank Goodness it’s not me”.  The light flashes on the darkness of Hollywood, and like cockroaches, men flee with only their boxers on. The funny thing is you have to be under a rock in a Harry Potter film to not “get” that you’ll be caught at some point. I’m probably the only female on the planet that understands why men cheat. Heck.  Girls have an easier time fast forwarding through the “Book of Consequence” and the “Magic of Painful Decisions”. I also notice that women are much better at fast forwarding the DVD to the right location as well. Coincidence? I think not…

I truly feel bad for his wife but I think she’ll survive. I’m sure they really loved each other and she’s devastated and feels taken advantage of. A friend of mine said, “A man that rich and powerful should never bother getting married”. I think there is a catch-22 here; they need a strong public appearance. Somewhere along the line of unhappiness, he decided to stick around for YOU and ME. He’s very thoughtful!

I’ll tell you what I do like about Tiger. He just came right out and said it after his car was thrashed and the 4th woman was about to surface. Some people would have let it go for months.  He nipped it in the bud like tectonic plates on Mt. Vesuvius.

“Way too furry,” Said one. “And I didn’t like the way it looked at me.”

The Florida Highway Patrol has released the full gallery of Tiger’s Fallen Escalade.  There is quite a bit of damage for a car that merely hit a fire hydrant.  Two windows are smashed out, no doubt so that Elin could save Tiger, as we were told, but yet the airbags did not deploy.  This must have been a special type of crash.  An accident in which the driver was so mangled, so harmed, that his wife had to smash out two different windows to save his dear life.  Clearly, he needed rescue assistance more than ever, as his stupid, faulty airbags never deployed.  That, or he wasn’t going very fast to begin with,  his wife was bullshit with him for smashing chicks up and down the PGA tour, so she beat him up, and when he tried to flee, she beat up his meddling car too.

Tiger Woods is an icon.

He isn’t admired in the way an NBA fan might gawk at Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen’s three-point stroke, or an NFL fan would marvel at Baltimore Ravens right tackle Michael Oher’s ability to stop All-Pro defensive ends in their tracks.

No, Tiger is admired for more than his excellence in golf.  He’s admired the way LeBron James, Roger Federer, Jay-Z, and The Beatles are.  Globally.

Which brings us to the unfortunate incident involving the world’s most important golfer crashing his Escalade into a tree in front of his house despite not being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to police.

Tiger refused to answer media questions, which is his right.  He refused to answer police inquiries, which, I guess once you reach Tiger Woods’ stratosphere of celebrity becomes your right.  However, being the best in the world at what you, and the first ever billionaire athlete makes the public interested in you.

When you inexplicably smash your car into a tree and then refuse to answer any questions about it, the public will want to know about it.

The tabloids have to give their readers answers, and if Tiger won’t give them they still have to print something.

Speculation rose about Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, beating him with a golf club after learning of her husband’s infidelity.  Did this cause the crash?  Tiger wouldn’t say.  Tiger wouldn’t say anything besides it’s a private matter.  Unfortunately, public people don’t have private matters.

Enter Jaimee Grubbs, a waitress and participant on MTV’s Tool Academy.  She is claiming to be the woman who caused the uproar in the Woods’ household.  She has made public a voicemail of Tiger trying to cover-up their dalliance as well as salacious texts Tiger had sent her.

Here’s where it gets dicey.  The crash is the public’s business.  He was cited for reckless driving, and this is something newsworthy.  Now the affair business….well…I’m not sure.  On the one hand there’s no proven correlation between the alleged affair and Tiger’s reckless driving.  On the other hand, Tiger is arguably the world’s most famous athlete and inarguably the richest.

Everyone has a right to their privacy, celebrities included.  As an aspiring journalist, I’m watching this story closely with the proverbial angel and devil on each of my shoulders.  People are certainly interested, and in a way, that makes it news.

Morally, though, I have qualms.  If John Doe cheated on his wife Jane it would not be a news item.  Tiger Woods’ children did not choose to be in the public eye.  If this information isn’t pertinent to the real news, Tiger’s crash (see you already forgot that happened didn’t you?), then to me it shouldn’t be in the news.  Tiger’s family should not be publicly skewered because of his faults and missteps.

I think it’s time to put this story to bed.  When investigators get to the bottom of why Tiger crashed, it should be reported.  Magazines and newspapers are no place for marital difficulties to be aired out though, even if it’s Tiger Woods.

Beginning with the eighteen-hundreds, and fast-forwarding from there, settlers arrived in Texas. In droves. And, they kept on comin’. Long wagon trains of folks where every day was a busted wagon wheel, a pack of coyotes or an attack by the First Americans riding really gorgeous horses (RGH). 

Today, we’ve still got reminders of that pioneer spirit.

Escalade: Still blazing trails on I-35

A caravan of Escalades on I-35. A flat tire on the way back from the Hill Country in the Ford Expedition. As for the coyotes, my neighbor Kara heard a definite howl over by her lot on the lake. She warned me not to walk late at night. And, there was that Chihuahua that went missing. It’s true that the only attack you’re likely to get now is heartburn from eating too much Tex-Mex at ________¹, but a person still has to take chances and get out there. So, to those who say that big adventures can no longer be found here in The Lone Star State, I beg to differ. Just spend one day with me on Central Expressway. It’s not for the faint-hearted.

 Now that mostly everyone is here in Texas that wants to be here, it’s a good thing we’ve still got a lot of land to spread out in. We like our space–some of our Texans insist on a wide berth. Some need a double-wide berth.  Part of this is because we don’t ride horses anymore…in town. There are ranches with RGH. Some of us still know how to ride, and believe me, doing that’ll keep your butt tiny. But, lots of Texans don’t own horses. And, because everything is so spread out, we drive everywhere. There are no sidewalks.  We really don’t use them, because going from point A to point B is quite a distance, not like those little towns in Massachusetts with charming saltboxes and handsome Kennedys, where you walk to the cheese shop ².

 In Texas, you have to drive. Well, not so much in Highland Park (aka The Bubble). There is a posh little mall right in the middle of The Bubble where you can just walk over and pick up some Chanel and Jimmy Choos. But, HP people still drive because they need to get the lead out of the Mercedes ³.

So, because We Do Not Walk Anywhere, there are some supersized folks in our supersized state. Many national restaurant chains know this, and support us in this way. The drive-thru menus are spectacular. Oscar-worthy presentations of chicken nuggets. I don’t dare look at these enticing marquees for fear of becoming pear-shaped. This pearphobia runs on a bell-shaped curve, reaching critical mass during three weeks in the fall–the State Fair of Texas. On my calendar, this event is known as a ‘blackout period.’ The SFOT is a high-risk cuisine environment. All foods not previously fried in The History of the World, such as peanut-butter-jelly-and-banana sandwiches and peaches, are coated with buttered crumbs and deep-sixed in a fry basket. Twice ⁴. Clearly, this is an effort to break me. People, prayer gets me through it.

 At the drive-thru I raise and cross my index fingers in an X  to ward off a giant crispy chicken sandwich. “Get back!” 

The speaker box comes alive. “Could you repeat that, please?” 

“Ummm, just a large sweet tea and ok, maybe a small fry. And ketchup.” And silence. And foot on the gas and drive on to point B. In my SUV.  ______________________________________________________________________

So first of all, I want to sincerely apologize for being away and slacking for so long on Rashan’s World.  It was Thanksgiving break…so I took a break.  This thing is like a baby.  It requires constant attention, or it will just cease to progress.  So, back to the story…

I’m sure that by now, many of you have already heard the news, but what in the world is up with this Tiger Woods thing?  I first heard mention of the gossip when I returned to school, and was doing my famous invisible golf club swing, practicing already for the summer!  Then someone was like, “Oh yeah.  That’s pretty messed up about Tiger.”  I had no idea.  So apparently, the only hard facts are that he crashed his Escalade into a fire hydrant and then into a tree, putting the SUV totally out of commission, and probably knocking himself unconcious.  Supposedly his wife scratched up his face, and was chasing after him with a golf club when he crashed.  She’s supposed to have been angry because he cheated with some classy lady from VH1’s awesome show, Tool Academy. “Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!”  Her name is Jaimee Grubbs.  And apparently one more woman, named Rachel Uchitel, is accused of having relations with Tiger.  Uchitel is a director of VIP services at some Manhattan club, and says she’s met Tiger Woods, but definitely did not have any sort of affair, or even real contact with him.  The other girl, Grubbs, however, just came out of nowhere and said that she and Tiger have been going at it for over a year.

I don’t know what the heck is the truth, but I’ll tell you this.  I certainly hope that none of this garbage is true, because I like Tiger Woods, and think that he’s a good guy.  He’s had a good image so far, and this, even if it is proved false, has already placed a stain on his career.  Click the link of Tiger and his daughter, Sam Alexis, to see Tiger’s personal statement on the incident at his website.

It turns out that maybe Tiger had more than one reason to stonewall, and one than one reason to lawyer up before the blood on his split lip had a chance to dry: Florida Troopers Go After Tiger | TMZ.com  According to TMZ, the Florida highway patrol is checking into whether Tiger was “under the influence” while piling his Caddy into a fire hydrant and tree fifty feet from his front door.  Being drunk would constitute a reasonable explanation for such behavior.  It never made any sense when the initial reports immediately stated that “alcohol was not involved”, since there was no mention of a breathalyzer test or a blood alcohol level being drawn at the hospital. But it gets even better.  There’s another claim on the table that Tiger was pulling his club out of the bag on an unapproved course.  Here’s the second woman who says she has intimate knowledge of Tiger’s putter:

Given all the golf club metaphors, it’s ironic that Jaimee Grubbs was a reality star on VH-1’s “Tool Academy”.  If two more women come out claiming to have had affairs with Tiger, would that constitute a Grand Slam?  Just asking.

Pitching wedge wins.

That is obvious looking at the pictures of the SUV Tiger Woods was driving where his wife busted out the back side windows…..then the SUV hit a fire hydrant and then a tree.  Shoot, the SUV looks pretty beat up to me.  I thought those things were tanks.  Guess not.  Looks like Tiger is caught by the tail to some extent also.

I was talking with two friends of mine today about this and other “things messed up in life” and was sharing with them James 1:2-4 where James says to, “count it all joy my brothers when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must  finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”  Tiger is going through some trials….probably of many kinds….maybe like me and you….I just have a 10 year old Chevy Silverado and no golf clubs.

Tough to count things all joy….that is what maturity is all about.  Growing up is hard sometimes.  Scripture says that tough times helps us grow up.  Look, I do not know what tough times you are experiencing, what trials you are in right now….but try, just try to look at them as an opportunity to grow.  I don’t think God caused Tiger to crash so he could be mature and lacking nothing.  I don’t think God is causing you trials, heartache or problems right now, just to teach you something.  I do think that as you go through whatever it is you are in right now, that you can persevere, that you can mature and my hope is that, …  if not now, that sometime you can count it joy.

Golfer Tiger Woods, denying rumors that his wife chased him down with a hybrid wood and “whacked him upside the head,” released a statement today saying the explanation for his early morning accident was with the vehicle.

“As a golfer, I understand these things better than most. I believe the Escalade just got a little ahead of the ball and it pulled hard left, into the rough.”

The car beheaded a fire hydrant and a tree, before coming to rest in a swale.

Unidentified police sources say that Tiger’s first words, after regaining consciousness were, “I want a mulligan!”

As expected, plenty of developments in the Tiger Woods incident from early yesterday. By now, it’s pretty clear this wasn’t a “serious accident” — well, unless you consider Woods’ wife beating his face to be just that. According to police, Woods and his Swedish nanny wife Elin Nordegren were involved in a domestic dispute before Woods left at 2:30 am Friday, only to crash his Escalade into a fire hydrant on his way off his property.

There were red flags all over this story to begin with. For one, the details of the crash were sketchy from the beginning: It wasn’t reported until more than 12 hours after it occurred and came on the heels of rumors of Tiger’s racy affair with “New York party girl”. Also, how exactly do you suffer serious injuries from hitting a fire hydrant at less than 33 miles per hour, as Woods would’ve had to have been going for the airbags not to have been deployed in his SUV? Well, all that stuff is out the window now, because the initial severity of the accident was now certainly just a cover.

With every report popping up, it’s becoming pretty evident Tiger’s “facial lacerations” came from a run-in with Nordegren, after which it looks he left his house, was chased by his wife who smashed the back window of his Escalade as he drove right into a fire hydrant. That’s the way I see it. Case closed. I should have my own TV show.

Anyway, I’m sure we’re far from hearing the last of this story. Should be interesting to see what Woods’ next move is. With trillions of dollars in endorsement money on the line, he’s gonna have to address it sooner rather than later.

The notoriously private Tiger Woods has seen his whole secret undercover world blow-up in his face in the past 48 hrs. due a crash caused by him fleeing his wife, who was beating him with a golf club across his head, after confronting him about his alledged affair with another lover.

It has been reported by TMZ.com that Tiger has been having a sexual affair with socialite Rachel Uchitel , and when his wife and mother of his two children, Elin Nordegren spoke to him about this, the argument became heated, and violent.

The violence was inflicted by Elin, who picked up a golf club that she had at the ready, and began pummeling the philandering Tiger Woods across his face, causing what has been described by the hospital as severe facial lacerations and contusions.

I bet that’s not the reaction that Tiger expected her to have. Elin Nordegren does not look like a woman that would beat you down for something like this, but if it was me, I would expect her to maybe just collapse in a bundle of tears…but I’m not married, so what do I know.

Brenda Richie went ballistic and was arrested for investigation of spousal abuse, trespassing and vandalism–but the charges were later dropped. After sticking it out for another three years, she and Lionel divorced in 1991.

The only difference here is that Tiger’s wife Elin Nordegren is not black, and Brenda Richie is…so I guess that should put to rest that old stereotype about how a sister reacts to these kind of things, compared to a white lady…

It was reported yesterday that the world’s no. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, was in a car wreck just a little ways from his home, near Orlando Florida. Initially, it was reported that Tiger was pulling out of his driveway at 2:55 am, when he hit a tree & fire hydrant in his neighbors yard. Windermere, Fla., police chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press that officers found the 33-year-old PGA Tour star lying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him. “She was frantic, upset,” Saylor said in a briefing Friday night. “It was her husband laying on the ground.” She told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and “came out and broke the back window with a golf club,” he said, adding that the front-door windows were not broken and that “the door was probably locked.” “She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground,” he said. “He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there.” Woods suffered lacerations to his face, and was treated and released from the hospital.

Fast forward to this morning: New reports are circulating that a domestic dispute between him & his wife is what caused Tiger to leave his home that time of morning to begin with.  AND … SHE was the cause of his facial lacerations, not the accident. Rumor has it that Tiger has been carrying on an illicit affair, and when Wifey confronted him about it Tiger Broke Out. She then began wailing on his ride with golf clubs, and in his efforts to get away, Tiger crashed his 2009 escalade.

Chile listen, I’m gonna keep tabs on this one for y’all. I can’t wait to see how this unravels.

Tiger Woods in happier times

The PGAs best golf player and arguably one of the best individual athletes in the world has been seriously hurt in a car accident outside of his Orlando home. It’s reported that Tiger was pulling out of his driveway at 2:28 am when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree on his neighbour’s yard.   He can place a ball the size of an egg anywhere on a golf course but apparently driving backward is bit tricky.  Police say the the Cadillac Escalade was not going faster than 33MPH since the airbags did not deploy. Do cars go that fast in reverse?

Many questions will be asked about this incident.

Will he be able to perform at a “Tigeresque” level once again? Who knows what damage was caused to him physically and emotionally.  It can’t be easy for a player to play as well as he has been after a traumatizing event.

Was alcohol involved? By leaving the house at 2:30 am one must speculate if alcohol was an issue in this matter or if he was sleeping behind the wheel. Usually when I’m out on a Thursday night at 3:00 am, booze is in my system and I’m an average Joe.

The truth will be revealed shortly but for now let’s hope for Tiger’s speedy recovery.  The golf world just wouldn’t be the same without him.

It was recently released that Tiger Woods has been involved in a serious wreck near his home in Ilseworth, Florida. The accident occurred at 2:30 AM ET. Woods was driving his 2009 Escalade SUV when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree. It was stressed that alcohol did not play a role in the accident. No information has been released as to what injuries Tiger sustained, though he was rushed to the hospital from the accident. Also the cause of the accident is not known at this time. Rumors have been spread that Woods was being treated for facial lacerations. The world’s number one golfer recently ended his 2009 season with a win at the Australian Masters. More information will be provided when it is confirmed.
