I am libra so I get used to any cosmetic product as fast as I get tired of it. But even this way I have a group of “faithful friends” that remained in my cosmetic bag for quite a long time. Among them:

Estée Lauder – Advanced night repair (works!) and Idealist (perfect when my skin looks tired)

Estee Lauder Daywear lotion with SPF 15 (important as we have a lot of sun all year around here. And I still get crazy of how fresh, cucumber-like this product smells)

Trish McEvoy Luxe moisture balm SPF 15 (my number one product during long haul flights. Use it on my lips or any other area that needs to be moisturized)

Shiseido The skincare purifying mask (the best that I`ve tried so far and is perfect for my super sensitive skin!)

Mascaras – Estee Lauder Bold volume lifting mascara, brown (just the perfect one) and Guerlain Le 2 de Guerlain (love practical two brushes)

This Perricone product has been my number one during the whole year. I first got curious about Dr. Perricone because of his extremely interesting theory of aging. He makes the connection between what we eat and aging. Fascinated, I tried this cleanser and was very happy as it really leaves the feeling of clean skin without irritating or drying it. Worth trying!

I did it, I fell a victim to the spell of EL and the Idealist, but I didn’t get the Even Skin Tone Illuminator, I got the Pore Minimizing one instead! It looks like this:

And thanks to my Macy’s discount I got the large one for the price of small one! I can’t pick mine up until tomorrow, but the post just couldn’t wait!

Face of The Day: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

I’m usually quite fuss-free with make-up because i refuse to sacrifice my sleep in the morning just to go the extra mile to ‘paint’ my face each day. My everyday make-up routine consists of only pressed powder, eyelid primer, eyeliner, brow liner and blusher. That’s it! And that is what you’ve probably seen with my self-portraits in previous posts so far. Only on special occasions or if i’m in that mood to look good will i bother to slap on foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, and mascara.

So today was one of those days when i was suddenly inspired to do one of those smokey eye looks. I’ve watched several videos on youtube on how to create that smokey eye look and they always make it look like its so simple. Truth be told, it really takes a steady hand to achieve what they have done so flawlessly. Who knows? With some practice, it could be more often a part of my make-up routine

Gathered here are some products which i already have to try my hand at this… Sometimes i amuse myself by looking at the amount of make-up i have and how much make-up i use on a daily basis. And oh! I just realized that i forgot to shoot my Urban Decay eyelid primer. Next time…

I love this mini eyeshadow trio that i got from Stila. So simple yet quite versatile. Besides a smokey eyelid, you can also dab on the dark brown in the middle to ‘smoke out‘ your eyeliner as well.

For this look, i used the pink blush on the top left-hand corner for a sheer healthy pink flush on the cheeks.

So i followed the steps which i remembered from the video and… voila! This is what it looks like. Not perfect i know, i’ll keep practicing

And here i am with my hair down, ready for a night out. LOL!
No false eyelashes, just 2 coats of mascara.

Facial Regimen

Hi!

Today I am going to talk about facial cleansers but first, you need to know about me. My skin has a medium tone, sometimes even golden medium and it’s oily on the T-zone and normal to dry on the cheeks (it depends on the weather and on what products I’m using at that moment).

Since my skin is not oily I try to stay away from cleansers with too much alcohol because it can strip the skin from its natural oils and make it dry. I do the typical process of removing makeup, clean face, tone, use treatment and then moisture.

One of the best makeup removers that I have use is DHC deep cleansing oil and don’t be scare by the”oil”, it doesn’t clog your pores. Another makeup remover that I used is Estee Lauder Take It Away, which works really well, even with mascara.

For face cleanser I don’t have a favorite yet but I have used many and the ones that showed an improvement on my skin where Lush cleanser Dark Angels and Clinique cleanser for oily skin, but the last one made my face dry so I’m still looking for a better cleanser.

My sister, who has slightly darker oilier skin, has seen an improvement in her skin using lush products (in case you didn’t know, lush is a line of beauty products, the majority vegan – my favorite product from them is their line of face mask, specially cupcake). She uses the Dark Angel cleanser, the Tea Tree Toner and the Enzymion moisturizer (just a little bit of the cream in the tip of your finger is enough to cover your entire face) but she is open to try other products if they are better…if we find them I will post on it later

Now with toner, I use toner at night and it is DDF Glycolic 10% Toning Complex because it help with the “turnaround” and until now it has worked pretty well. If you have sensitive skin then i would not recommend it, on the contrary, if you have very oily skin then it can even be used twice daily.

The serum that I use is Estee Lauder Idealist and it has improved the acne scars that I had.

For moisture I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel which can be used in layers to add more moisture. One time my skin was very dry and I used three layers of this moisturizer and the next day there was a vast improvement on my skin, it wasn’t perfect but it was much better than the last night.

Finally, every morning I use MAC Prep + Prime spf 50 and it is the best spf that I have used (the added primer is a bonus). I have used Josie Maran Argan Oil with spf, and it didn’t work at all. It will be useful on cold weather but on hot weather its useless. Then I used Clinique spf 40, it felt oily and my skin didn’t absorb it so I bought the Mac one. It is exactly what I was looking for, my skin absorbed it quickly, it doesn’t leave a white film and it actually controls the oil production on my forehead so my makeup lasts longer.
