I have also learned that it is a great way to learn more about how to present your own shop. I have just spent time reshooting photos and revamping keywords on my product listings. It was a gorgeous fall day here today, perfect for picture taking.

Will be participating in the Arkell Museum Holiday Craft Show again this year, Dec. 8th 11-4pm. It is a lovely show, delightful artists, a bake sale, pianist and a Christmas tree. What better to get you in the Holiday spirit and help with your Holiday shopping!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted – and this is mainly because I’ve been a bit of a felting machine in order to get ready for autumn and winter! I’m stabbed and felted to the bone. If you stripped my skin off, I’m sure all my layers of flesh, blood and bone are properly felted together. A dedicated craftswoman is I.

I wanted to focus on the more primitive creatures I’ve been making recently. This little guy above is a needle felted llama, make from a blend of merino and corriedale wool. I recently bought some Wensleydale curls (I blogged about it a few weeks ago in ecstatic glee) and I’m definitely putting them to good use. As well as usually the gorgeous hand dyed tendrils for fantasy owls and such, I’ve been using the natural and undyed curls to create more primitive and folk inspired creatures, like this llama and the little baby owl below. >
I love how multi-tonal and textured the body becomes when it’s layered with the curls. I wanted these creatures to look a bit more rustic and country cottage-esque, because when I think of winter I think of natural tones and all natural materials, or maybe that’s just me! I thought the grey and brown tones went very well with the many versions of owls I have in my head!

Bertie (above) is another curly felted cutie. I think he’s possibly my favourite owl out ouf all of the ones I’ve created thus far (I’m sorry to all of the others!) There’s something about the natural robust finish along with his rather confused and puzzled wonky eyed stare. Who could resist? All of the above creatures are on Knittynudo right now (knittynudo.etsy.com) but I’m oh-so-tempted to keep Bertie for myself…

My mom loves red, poppies, and tea. Roll those into a ball of gift ideas and you get this Red Poppy Teabag Holder by MarciG. I’m thinking of getting her this red poppy bowl as well.

My dad is tough to buy for but he loves cars. Especially vintage cars. Especially General Motors cars. Especially Oldsmobiles. Many a family vacation were spent at car cruises and auto museums, we even went to Oldsmobile’s 100th anniversary in Lansing, Michigan, back in 1997. He took me to my first auto show when I was just a toddler; my Barbies had a fleet of cars to choose from, including a Ferrari; he bought me more Hot Wheels than I could possibly try to jam Polly Pocket dolls into. He loves cars. How do you find a gift for a classic car lover on Etsy? Vintage brochures. My dad is already a collector, hundreds of brochures sit boxed under my parents’ bed. I found him this show edition of a 1967 Oldsmobile brochure from dumpsterdiver. Being only 15 and living in Montreal in 1967, he probably never got his hands on a show edition of an American Oldsmobile brochure (the differences between Canadian and American brochures are slight, but they’re there and they fascinate my dad.) I know he’ll enjoy leafing through this before adding it to the collection under the bed.

As you can tell from this post, I’m very proud of my first two purchases. I can’t wait to wow my parents with them. I’m definitely going to check Etsy first for gifts in the future, it’s an excellent way to make sure that no one else will get them the exact same thing. By the way, if anyone ever needs to get a gift for me, Etsy is an excellent place to get one.

I’m an eclectic collector, abstract artist, sculptor, photographer, writer and jewelry maker. I’m also wife to wonderful and sweet computer nerd.

In March of 2008, I was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with Congestive heart failure (CHF). The doctors didnt think I would make it.

One of my IV’s failed, and my right arm was pumped full of potassium, and I lost most of the use of my right arm and hand as a result.

I was released from the hospital on oxygen, and a week later my kidneys failed. After another lengthy stay in the hospital, I was finally released for good.

For a few months I cried day and night. I was an artist, I worked with my hands and Suddenly, I Couldn’t even cook for myself, let alone write my own name. Drawing or sculpting was impossible.

I’m not saying this for sympathy, only to give others a glimmer of hope. In the few short months since coming home, I’ve gotten a lot better. My heart is much healthier, and I’m slowly regaining the use of my right hand, although it is still mostly numb. Someday I hope to draw again, but until then, jewelry will just have to do.

A spin on traditional best friend necklaces, these two “Message in a bottle” pendants are filled fine iridescent glitter and a piece of scrolled paper, bearing this quote-

These bottles are tiny. 1/4 dram corked vials, only about 1.25″ tall, including the cork. Since they’re so small, only the word “Forever” is visible.

Each corked vial has a securely fastened silvertone eye pin embedded in the top, but the pendant is attached to the chain with a very thick silver tone oval jump ring. Also dangling from the top of the pendant is a small AB finish clear glass heart.

The necklace chain is antiqued silver tone in a very unisex chain link (the chain link may vary from those pictured, but will be very similar!). Not overly feminine, not overly masculine (perfect for you and your beau). Each chain is 20″ long.

Pink Ruffles and Polka dot Playsuit $78.00

This playsuit is so cute! It has a really nice tailored fit. I made it out of light pink fabric and stretchy white with black polka dots fabric. The polka dot fabric was slightly thin so I double faced it (two layers). There is a zipper up the center back, elastic straps and pockets in the front sides. The bow is pinned on. I sewed in two huge layers of ruffles around the waist.

The whole thing is serged for durability and a professional finish. i recommend it as a size 4 or 6.
it measures-
bust-30″ lying flat, stretches to 36″
waist- 29″, stretches to 34″
hips- 38″ stretches to 44″

It would look great as is in warmer weather, or with black tights and a cardigan in colder weather!
