Ante la pregunta de un fan sobre si le gustaria representar a España en Eurovisión, el cantante ha respondido: “No. Chikilicuatre es insuperable”.

Eurovision landed on the mighty Danube in Belgrade in May of 2008, and so too did a record number of delegations from all over the continent. It had been decided a while before the contest that there would not be one semi final in 2008, but two, in order to accommodate the growing number of nations. The tiny principality of San Marino came to join the party for the first time, but unlike other first-timer Azerbaijan, did not mange to secure a place in Saturday’s final. Hosted by television presenter Jovana Jankovic, and 2004 entrant Zeljko Joksimovic (who had not only penned songs in the past, but written Serbia’s 2008 song for Jelena Tomasevic), it opened with, as usual, a reprise of the reigning winner Marija Serifovic, who welcomed Europe to Serbia and the Belgrade Arena – one of the largest on the continent with the potential to seat around 23 000 people. The stage was an epic creation of organic screens which were placed to symbolise both the Danube, and the Sava, Serbia’s other main river.

 After a love ballad from Romania came the UK, who had drawn slot 2 once again. Andy Abraham, who had been runner-up in one season of ‘The X Factor’, had not been the favourite in his national selection, but was equipped with a higher quality of song than his country had participated with in 2007. ‘Even If’ was an up-tempo Motown-inspired anthem which used flashing lights and live music to complement Andy’s strong voice. There was really nothing to complain about until after the voting when the UK found themselves in last place with Germany and Poland. Speculators wondered if it was Abraham’s ethnicity that had done it, but the more likely explanation was that the UK had once again become the victim of the partisan voting that had been dominating Eurovision since the dawning of the televoting age. Germany had sent one of their most popular bands to Belgrade, who had sold millions of albums, and had more than one top ten hit, but they too ended up at the bottom, with no allies to back them up.

 The closest thing to a novelty act in the final was that of Laka from Bosnia & Herzegovina. The first indication was his emergence from a washing basket as the first verse began. His sister accompanied him by dancing madly down the catwalk in a skirt covered in apples, and by throwing bouquets from the backing vocalists who happened to be dressed as brides, into the audience. This was discovered not to be that unusual when it came to light that Laka had used live chickens as part of his entertainment in the Bosnian final. Despite the chaos, the song, ‘Pokusaj’ (meaning ‘try’), was quite good quality pop-rock, and perhaps the performance’s eccentricity helped it be memorable and rise to a respectable 10th place.

Sending an artist who has already done well at Eurovision was becoming a reliable formula in the naughties. Sweden decided to cash in on this by bringing in their most recent winner, Charlotte Nilsson, who, since 1999 in Jerusalem, had married and now went by the name of Charlotte Perelli. Her song ‘Hero’ was refreshingly un-ABBA like, but still in the genre of schlager pop, which has become a Swedish stigma, and so was similar to many before it. The star looked just as luminous onstage as she had nine years previous, wearing a mini-dress in silver (one of two must-have colours seen in this year’s contest) and sky high stilettos. As always, the Swedes had provided a polished and well-choreographed performance. But although she got a substantial round of applause, it was not to be for Charlotte a second-time around.

Georgia’s second entry was about peace and was sung by a blind woman called Diana Gurtskaya. Her and her backing singers and dancers achieved an amazing costume change which involved enveloping themselves in a giant sheet to transform from black leather to white satin, in a matter of seconds. Azerbaijan also used this symbolism to great effect with their debut ‘Day After Day’. Elnur & Samir appeared on stage as an angel and a devil respectively, singing in English about the battle between good and evil. Towards the end Samir was disrobed by a dancer to reveal a white suit and a ‘heavenly’ version of his character. The voters were impressed.

US raised Kalomira was Greece’s selection for the 2008 contest. Having done admirably until 2007, they had evidently decided to stick with the three-part pop, one-part Greek rhythm fusion that had served them so well in the past. Picking a female soloist similar in appearance to their only winner seemed to be part of the plan also, and fortunately, it was a good combination. The song was called ‘Secret Combination’ which was a sign in itself. Kalomira altered her costume (which was a design of the one and only Jennifer Lopez) during the performance, which added to the spectacle of props and dancers. Greece tends to put a lot of thought into the ‘show’ aspect of Eurovision and usually it pays off. This year was no exception. Whilst they received the obligatory 12 points from Cyprus,more than a few other countries also felt that Kalomira was worthy of taking out the top prize.

Another participant who was well supported in his Eurovision campaign was Russia’s Dima Bilan, who had missed out to Finland in the 2006 contest. Not wanting to lose again, he had produced a song with Jim Beanz, a top American producer and songwriter, which would appeal to the masses. It had a message, and he had the goods. Barefoot and dressed all in white, he began the song sitting on the edge of the stage, before making his way to the centre, at which point a renowned Hungarian violinist and Olympic medallist ice-skater Evgeni Pluschenko joined him. This was a clever and high-quality gimmick which only served to increase his chances of winning.

Dima did better his 2006 position – not too shabby when you think about it. Ukraine also continued their run of successful entries, coming second for the second consecutive year. A big surprise came from Norway, who as one of the worst performing Eurovision nations, were not accustomed to being anywhere near the higher end of the scoreboard. For the 54th edition of the contest, another new country was to be visited, in what was continuing to be the strongest era of Eurovision ever seen.

División de opiniones en las principales webs europeas dedicadas a Eurovisión sobre la coreografía que esta tarde ha presentado por primera vez Soraya Arnelas en el Olimpisky Arena de Moscú.

La inmensa mayoría cree que España deberá esforzarse mucho para optar a estar entre los diez primeros puestos el próximo sábado. Todos coinciden que, a pesar de la voz impecable de Soraya y la calidad de la canción, será insuficiente para ganar el festival debido a una coreografía que no es especial ni innovadora respecto al resto de países que compiten este año en Eurovisión.

Para la principal web eurovisiva www.esctoday.com , Soraya ha estado impecable vocalmente hasta el final de su actuación. Aunque explican a sus lectores cómo fue la coreografía, no entran en valorar la coreografía.

La web sueca escsweden.com considera que España lleva una buena canción en comparación con la de 2008. Además destaca que los violines han sido fortalecidos en la nueva versión. No entran en valorar la coreografía de Soraya, solamente resaltan que la participación les recuerda un poco a D´Nash, representantes españoles de 2007, y terminan añadiendo que todos sabemos como quedaron en Helsinki, en el puesto 20º.

Según la web holandesa songfestival.web-log.nl, la coreografía que presenta España en Eurovisión no es muy innovadora a pesar de un gran comienzo de la canción, además apunta que debido a una gran cantidad de saltos y movimientos la voz de Soraya a veces sufre demasiado. Al final de la crónica precisa que la buena imagen de Soraya, además de la buena posición de España en la final, hará que nuestro país mejore los malos resultados de los últimos años.

“La coreografía de España muy a la dinámica de Azerbayán”, así traduce esckaz.com lo visto esta tarde en el primer ensayo de España. Destac que tras ver el primer ensayo de Soraya considera que sigue la misma dinámica que Azerbayán, es decir, la canción suena bien, ella lo hace muy bien pero la coreografía debería de ser otra cosa.

Para allkindsofeverything.ie, única web de referencia en Irlanda el ensayo de Soraya Arnelas debe mejorar considerablemente en la realización de las imágenes durante la actuación, ya que a veces según ellos la imagen principal de la actuación se pierde, por lo que piden que las cámaras hagan mejores planos sobre la actuación. Otra de las cosas que, según esta web irlandesa, se debería de cambiar es el papel de los coristas en algunas ocasiones, ya que destacan que a veces vocalmente no se les escucha y en otras ocasiones están desaparecidos sobre el escenario de Moscú. Terminan diciendo que de momento y a la espera de ver el segundo ensayo de España no consideran que nuestro país pueda ocupar el top 10 el próximo sábado.

El equipo de Oikotimes.com no ha entrado a valorar lo visto hoy en los ensayos, aunque si se ha hecho eco de los comentarios que los miembros del blog inglés Schlagerblog han realizado para ellos. Para Schlagerblog, Soraya ha estado fabulosa pero se pregunta ¿Donde está la sorpresa que prometieron?

Y por último la web eurovision-croatia.com considera que la coreografía de Soraya no es nada especial. Destaca el espectacular comienzo de la canción y el vestido de Soraya que hacen recordar a los que llevó el año pasado Charlotte Perrelli y Ani Lorak. Para eurovision-croatia.com la canción es muy buena y la coreografía es dinámica pero nada especial.

Of course, it’s c), and in fact has been for 12 years. The last time Cyprus failed to give Greece the maximum score was in 1996, and the last time Greece failed to reciprocate was in 1995.

Bloc voting. Tactical voting. Political voting. Diaspora voting. It’s a carve-up. A stitch-up. A joke. A swindle. After the 2007 competition, the head of the Maltese delegation complained that Eastern European bloc voting and vote-rigging meant that countries like Malta no longer had a chance at Eurovision. This, coming two years after they had finished second. The German newspaper Bild remarked that despite paying the most towards the running of the competition, Germany were still performing poorly. Because that’s how it works, right?

Of course, it’s worth noting that such complaints, based on selective evidence such as that presented above, are at least partially grounded in reality. Eastern Europe has indeed kept an iron grip on Eurovision for, ooh, the last two years. Since Lordi of Finland stormed to victory in 2006, those selfish Balkan countries have simply carved up the Eurovision crown between them. Except only one of the new Balkan states has ever won Eurovision – Serbia in 2007, a victory that triumphantly drew it level with Monaco.

You see, if bloc voting were an overwhelming factor in the outcome, the same countries would win every year. In fact, no country has won more than once in the past 14 years, and the last eight winners have all been first-time champions. So what explains the perceived dominance of Eastern Europe and the sluggish performances of Western Europe? I see two principal reasons, like this pair related but breathtakingly simple.

Firstly, there’s just more East than there is West. Twenty-four of this year’s participants – comfortably more than half – hail from behind the old Iron Curtain, and that’s even before you take the vast Eastern European diaspora into account. You think Mehmet in the kebab shop downstairs listens carefully to all the songs before making an informed and considered choice? Balls. It’s a Saturday night. He’s got meat to hack off a giant metal stick. He’ll just pick up the phone and vote for Turkey, thank you very much.

And yes, Eastern European countries do tend to vote for other Eastern European countries. But study the evidence and the strong impression you get is that this is due to cultural rather than political factors. Lithuania giving twelve points to Georgia in 2008 sounds like the most monumental mutual wanking circle. But think about it. What on earth does Lithuania have to do with Georgia? They’re 1,500 miles apart; if there’s a Georgian community in Lithuania, it’s more of a seepage than a diaspora. Perhaps the answer is that both Georgians and Lithuanians enjoy a healthy-looking woman singing about national folklore while four men in raincoats scurry around behind her like they’ve just lost their contact lenses.

Which brings us to the second reason, which is that good songs generally do well and shit ones generally don’t, and the fare that many Western European countries have turned out over the last few years has, by and large, been rankness of the most minging order. More of this when I cast slanted eye at the UK’s Eurovision history next week, but just one example will suffice: last year Ireland – nation of Johnny Logan, Enya, Shane MacGowan and Phil Lynott, and seven-time winners – decided to submit as their Eurovision entry a song called ‘Irelande Douze Pointe’ by Dustin The Turkey. The song sucked. The turkey wasn’t funny. The French wasn’t even correct. It tanked.

Eastern Europe, by contrast, has taken a grip on Eurovision not through careful manipulation of the scoring system, but by churning out cracking tunes. Last year’s winner, ‘Believe’ by Dima Bilan of Russia, was an extraordinary feat. A song written by Timbaland. An Olympic gold-medallist ice skating around him. A dude playing a Stradivarius. I wouldn’t complain if it won this year as well. And yet the howls of envious self-righteousness echoed, oblivious to the fact that Russia had never won before, and had picked up points from 36 of the 42 voting nations, not all of whom it had threatened to invade.

All these ifs, buts and maybes leave a residual ‘anyway’. Should any of this really matter, anyway? Let’s examine things from the point of view of a small Eastern European country.

Disadvantages of being a small quasi-autonomous nation state with poorly-defined borders, located amid an ethnic and religious mélange:

• Threat of invasion by a strong regional power
• Economic insecurity
• Lack of social cohesion
• Risk of civil war
• Deficit of political legitimacy
• Persistent disputes with neighbouring countries over borders, migration, oil pipelines, etc
• Increased risk of war as a result of this
• A turbulent and bloody recent history

Advantages of same:

• Strong Eurovision performance

I think the juniour euro-vision is a great starting place for new talent… It gives them a sence of achievement… even if they dont win or dont go through its something they will never forget. As a child i recorded tapes for marks and Spencer and early learning center, they were great children’s song and the writer Rodger was amazing, recording them was something i will never forget and although i was young and didnt become “famous” it made me proud at the time…

I first saw Sebastien Telleir on (SHAMEFULLY) Eurovisíon Song Contest 2008. He was representing France and I swear I didn’t know what to make of it. I didn’t know if he was a complete nut case really meaning what he was doing, or if he was a devilishly intelligent media beast, trying to confuse the audience to the max and laugh at those who take him seriously.

Sebastien Tellier is a French musician, producer, vocalist and multi instrumentalist, specialising mostly in electronic lo-fi music, but not escaping from any genre between the latter and for instance cabaret. He used to work alongside such stars as Daft Punk, Air and Mr.Oizo. He also managed to have a little commercial deal with the retailer American Apparel, selling his EPs in their boutiques for a couple of weeks before release.

This very deal, and American Apparel’s interest in Sebastien hints how he might be relevant for this blog. Sebastien’s fashion style makes him look like a complete nutter at the first glance. His unbelievably shaggy hair and beard are making him look like a cross  between  Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street and Jesus from class-B Bible movies. He also loves his shades, having something slightly in common with the Power Rangers. And the suit… Maaaan… And the trousers, 2 inches too short. If you saw him on the street, you wouldn’t like your children to talk to him.

Watch this video, though, and I’ll explain why I don’t think Sebastien Tellier is a nut case any more:

I think that Tellier very cleverly illustrates his music with his clothing. This song is a fusion of the 60s backing vocals, the 70s bass line, the 80s synths and Tellier’s unique voice. Now, his clothing/the whole video could be divided in the same way. The white suit from around the 60s, the shades from the 80s, the 70s color schemes and filters in the video and his own unique hairstyle and beard. Everything seems to be thought through and planned and when you think about it, there is nothing random in Sebastien Tellier’s style, because he uses fashion to represent his sound. Respectable.

RTVE.es nos muestra el nuevo cuerpo de baile de Melody tras la “espantá” de Los Vivancos. Cinco bailarines bajo la direción artística de Luka Yexy, encargado de diseñar la nueva coreografía.

Todo ha sido muy precipitado pero en un tiempo record, Melody, se ha echo con 5 nuevos bailarines que para nada van a echar en falta a Los Vivancos. Como muy bien ha explicado la sevillana a RTVE.es, le hubiera gustado contar con más tiempo, pero todo sea por nuestro páis y nuestros fans.

El nuevo dicrector de escenografía, Luka Yexy, ya tiene sobre sí la experiencia de haber echo cine, teatro, musicales y televisión. Ha participado en programas como UPA Dance y Factor X, y considera como muy estimulante recoger el guante y dar a entender a todo el mundo que nadie es imprescindible, y aunque la gente había apreciado el toque personalísimo de los Hermanos Vivancos y sin ello no se podía hacer nada, Yexy demostrará que no es así.

En un día se ha creado la nueva coreografía, utilizando elementos de flamenco y acrobacias, resultando un trabajo diferente y más internaciona. Mañana, en la Gran Final de El Retorno comprobaremos si extrañaremos a Los Vivancos y si nuestras vidas volveran a ser igual que antes de verlos bailar con Melody un 14 de Febrero.

*  Montenegro: Andrea Demirovic - ”Just get out of my life”

Anrea Demirović representará a Montenegro en el próximo Festival de Eurovisión con “Just get out of my life”, tema del compositor español José Santana, Ralph Siegel y Bernd Meinunger. Santana, que es presidente de OGAE España, podría tener dos temas este año en Moscú. Otra de sus canciones, “Passió obsesiva”, compite en Andorra por representar al principado.

Andrea Demirović tiene 23 años y tiene una larga carrera en su país natal. En España es conocida por los Eurofans porque en 2008 grabó una versión en inglés de “La reina de la noche”, tema con el que Mirela quedó segunda en la preselección española del 2007.

This generic sex comedy–about a guy who can’t decide whether or not to marry his girlfriend because he’s still obsessed with a girl he saw in an airport when he was a teenager–really has only one thing to recommend it: Ryan Reynolds (Coming Soon, Van Wilder). Reynolds plays the main character’s horndog friend who becomes convinced he’s gay, and while much of his material is of dubious taste and quality, Reynolds has a mixture of ironic detachment and actor commitment that makes the most of his role. Everyone else–Jerry O’Connell (as the obsessed guy), Bridgette L. Wilson (as his understandably frustrated girlfriend), Ron Livingston, Bill Bellamy, and Alyssa Milano–have their moments, but the script doesn’t offer them much to work with. When it isn’t drowning in clich�s about men and women, it’s trying way too hard to be “over the top.” –Bret Fetzer

Hoy me saco de la manga (o del teclado), una entrada recopilatoria. Me hace gracia repasar los temas que más se han comentado en el blog. Es una buena forma de recordad cosas que seguro que habíamos olvidado y nos sirve de termómetro para ver qué ha dado de sí este 2008. Como el año pasado, hacemos un repaso mensual.

• Enero: Por goleada indiscutible, Tú sí que vales, una entrada que estuvo recibiendo comentarios sin parar. Incluso tuve que editar algunos porque ponían al jurado a caer de un burro. Sirvieron de desahogo a mucha gente, desde luego. Sin tetas no hay paraíso también tuvo sus momentos, cuando sorprendió a propios y extraños colocándose como quien no quiere la cosa como el programa más visto de su franja. 2008 será el año que terminó con La cancelación de Aquí hay tomate uno de los programas más polémicos de los últimos tiempos. Muchos pensaban entonces que aquello iba a significar el final del corazón en televisión, pero no ha habido manera. Después del Tomate han venido otros tomatazos varios. Nunca sabremos si Vasile se arrepintió de tomar aquella decisión.

• Febrero: Otra goleada y una de las entradas más activas del año fue Mofándose de Miguel Ángel Silvestre, una entrada que escribí a raiz de una entrevista que le hicieron al Duque en El País. Lo que tiene este hombre son fans, y lo demás son tonterías. Qué pasión.
• Marzo: Destacaron sobre todo dos temas, la compra de Caiga quien caiga por La Sexta y el anuncio de Telecinco contra la piratería. Hay que ver, los de Caiga quien caiga acaban de despedirse de La Sexta, con lo felices que pensábamos que íbamos a ser, y Telecinco ha culminado un año de vergüenza con sus polémicas con otras cadenas. Pero sobretodo hablamos de Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, que terminó yendo a Eurovisión.

• Abril: El mes de Las gafas de Angelino. Un desastre que terminó en cancelación acelerada. Carmen Alcayde le ha cogido el puso a esto de las despedidas. No había nada que hacer con aquel programa, nada que hacer, y en Telecinco se dieron cuenta enseguida. En la parte positiva, las parodias que les hicieron en Sé lo que hicisteis…,.
• Mayo: Sin lugar a dudas es el mes de El juego de tu vida (otra de las entradas más activas del año). Hasta recibí un requerimiento oficial, policía judicial mediante, para borrar un comentario de esta entrada porque desprestigiaba a una empresa de polígrafos (es verdad, verdadera). Además trajeron cola la cancelación de El síndrome de Ulises, la participación de Chikilicuatre en Eurovisión y mi crítica de La Tira. En esta entrada había un comentario airado al que le seguí la IP y, casualidades de la vida, esa IP era propiedad del Grupo Árbol, el mismo que hace la serie.

• Junio: Pilar Rubio y sus redactores empezaron a asomar la cabeza, llegó Rober Bodegas a Sé lo que hicisteis…, hablamos mucho de las retransmisiones deportivas de Cuatro y también tuvo su hueco el despido del profesor de zen de OT. Un mes variado a más no poder, pese a ser el primero del verano.

• Julio: El final de Los Serrano, que nos dejó a todos boquiabiertos con ese homenaje a Calderón de la Barca, por aquello de “La vida es sueño”. Para mí, uno de los despropósitos del año. Y en segundo lugar, la espantada de Risto Mejide en Operación Triunfo. Pasado el temporal, parece que le han dado programa propio en Telecinco. Siempre que hablamos de Telecinco, terminaba siendo para mal.
• Agosto: Se avecinaba un mes tranquilo pero terminó como siendo de lo más animado. El especial de Granjero busca esposa en Cuatro me ha terminado convirtiendo en una de las bloggers elegidas para recibir un pack especial del programa (ya os lo enseñaré cuando llegue). Por desgracia para mí, Impares llegó, se vio y no venció, una lástima. María Teresa Campos llegó a La mirada crítica, tragándose todos los sapos que había soltado de Vasile. Pero sin lugar a dudas fue un mes negro en el que la tragedia de Barajas nos enseñó cómo es la desinformación. Una de las peores lecciones que hemos recibido en mucho tiempo.
• Septiembre: Cómo ver Zattoo gratis y la sentencia a favor de Telecinco y contra La Sexta han sido dos temas muy comentados pero sin lugar a dudas septiembre fue el mes de Pekín Express, uno de los programas revelación de la temporada. En muy poco tiempo se hizo con una horda de incondicionales a los que no les ha gustado demasiado que a mí no me gustase el programa. Qué se le va a hacer. Ya preparan la segunda edición.

• Octubre: Me quedé muy a gusto con la entrada que hice sobre la crisis de ONO y fue la más comentada del mes. Me alegro porque de alguna manera parece que contribuí a visivilizar las estrategias de los grandes en épocas de vacas flacas.También causaron sensación el asunto de la entrevista a Julián Muñoz en Telecinco y una entrada en la que repasé las cancelaciones del año, que vaya colección.
• Noviembre: Empatados en comentarios tres temas tan distintos como la campaña de ver o no la entrevista a Muñoz, el anuncio del estreno de La batalla de los coros (concursantes airados me ponen a caer de un burro), y el anuncio de Gas Natural, que gusta a casi todo el mundo menos a mí.
• Diciembre: Mes en el que han predominado las historias extrañas. Gustó mucho la entrada sobre series raras, la marcha de Efrén a Antena 3 causo conmoción y la broma del Follonero con la Lotería también fue sonada a más no poder.

Un año fantástico. Muchas gracias por estar ahí. Me lo paso muy bien charlando de tele con vosotros, ché. Espero que en el 2009 podamos reirnos más y quejarnos menos de la tele.

La campaña online de promoción del pasado Festival de Eurovisión de RTVE ha sido reconocida como la mejor acción de marketing viral en el Festival Iberoamericano de Promociones y Eventos. En concreto, se ha premiado la acción “Fiestón de Eurovisión”, desarrollada por la agencia interactiva 101, un “minisite” que animaba a los internautas a montar una Chikifiesta para seguir el Festival el sábado 24 de mayo.

El site ponía a disposición de los internautas descargas gratuitas de todo tipo de accesorios (tupés, caretas, gafas, banderitas…), e incluso el Himno y la Letra de la Chikifiesta, compuesto expresamente para la ocasión.

Los FIP están considerados como el certamen de Premios al Marketing Promocional y Eventos más importante de Iberoamérica.

¡Qué nadie se asuste! De momento, que sepamos, no se vuelve a presentar a Eurovisión. David Fernández, más conocido como ‘Rodolfo Chikilicuatre’, ha fichado por Antena 3. David formará pareja con Edu Soto (`Neng´), en un especial de humor titulado “La Navidad mola” que la cadena emitirá en el prime time el 24 ó 25 de diciembre.

Puesto 16- España: Rodolfo Chikilicuatre – “Baila el chiki chiki” : 55 puntos

Antonio El Gato, secundado por 110645 votos fraudulentos (que fueron descontados el último día de votaciones), encabezó durante varios días con su tema “La bicicletera” la clasificación del voto popular en 2008.

Este año lo intenta con “Los paraos”. ¿Asistiremos este año al bochornoso espectáculo de la edición pasada, o lo impedirá el jurado? Es lo que tiene internet…

Aunque muchos acusan al Festival de estar de “capa caída”, la publicidad se sigue nutriendo de éxitos eurovisivos, lo que demuestra la fuerza que siguen teniendo sus canciones. Sin ir más lejos, Renault ha utilizado en su última campaña de publicidad (“Nuevo Renault Megane 2008″), una de las canciones participantes en la última edición del Festival.

Te doy unas pistas:

- Es una de las temas que participaró en Belgrado.
- Consiguió puntos 47 puntos.
- Se clasificó en la 19ª posición.

Ha sido en el programa que presenta en la RAI. La cantante Rafaella Carrá (que presentó “Salvemos Eurovisión”), ha abierto el debate en Italia sobre la vuelta de Italia a Eurovisión 2009. La presentadora, que ha incluído en su programa actuaciones de los cantantes que han participado en la última edición del festival,  realizó estos comentarios anoche antes de presentar a Simon Mathew (último representante de Dinamarca en Eurovisión):
