A Mindenki utálja Christ egy zseniális Situation comedy, amely Chris Rock (Emmy és Grammy díjas színész) gyerekkorát meséli el. A megjelenő – kihangsúlyozott tulajdonságokkal rendelkező – karakterek teszik hihetetlenül viccessé a sorozatot.

Okay it’s time to let loose tonight, I’ve been working my butt off these past two weeks, writing up a storm and I still have 2,000 more words to go.

I’m going to listen to some music to get my body feeling groovy, then I’ll tap into that imagination of mine and come up with an ending for my 50,000 word count novel for Nanowrimo called The Calamity Girl!

I’ve also created a separate website for The Calamity Girl on WordPress and two sites on Squidoo.

I’m having fun creating my new characters, plots and settings.

So I decided to play the music I used to dance to in the bars about 10 years ago, when I was single, a cougar and out on the prowl.

This will give me some inspiration to write my CHIC LIT.

Rudenko – Everybody

• Everyone in Berkeley drives a Volvo or a Prius. Except me. I drive a Ford Escort.
• I am almost fluent in 3-year-old now. If I needed to, I might add that talent to my resume.
• Thomas the Tank Engine (the blue smallish one) is having a love affair with Percy (the green one). James (the red one) is jealous.
• I drink far less coffee now that I live in California. I think Portland has addiction issues.
• Ingrid Michaelson’s newest album (Everybody) has been on repeat for almost 24 hours now. I don’t know that this has been a good idea.
• My uterus? It hates me. Two weeks ago it hated me. WTF body!? WTF!?
• Last week my laptop’s AC adapter ate it. I spent a few days on VDog’s extra computer but it threw a wrench in my writing, working and Tweeting plans. I feel like I’ve been away a long time.
• I missed what looks like some fun adventures over the weekend in order to spend some quality time with TheMister. We accidentally (?) braved the Baker Beach Sand Ladder on Sunday evening. Intense climb but worth it after hearing the ocean. The area is in a U shaped cove and the sound of the waves was amazing, the sunset was awesome and the company? Well, he’s incredible.

So last night was my third time seeing Ingrid and the band. Each time has been in Pittsburgh, the last 3 years. And each time she and her crew of eccentric personalities make the hour drive to Pittsburgh more than worth it!

This show was actually at Mr. Small’s Theatre in Millvale, PA, which is just over the river from downtown Pittsburgh. I managed to get lost 3 times getting there, but I eventually found it. I walked up the steps to the queue of people and told the man waiting that I was on the guest list (somewhat profoundly, because after all, how many times does someone get to be on a guest list for a rock group!?). He radioed in my last name as I waited impatiently to get inside and get a drink. The woman radios back, and she says, “Thrasher…that’s a negative.”

I am standing there paralyzed in shock. “What do you mean? I’m definitely on the list. I was put on there by Brian Vinikoor.” I thought name-dropping would boost my chances, or at the very least cause people standing in line watching this unfold to wonder who the hell I was. But that was all shot to hell when the guy checking tickets said, “I’ve never heard that name before in my life.”

So, after a few e-mails from my phone, calling multiple people inside, outside, and in Los Angeles, they finally found the guest list that my name was on and put an admission bracelet on my wrist. So, I stood in the line of people waiting to get in, and surely enough it starts pouring down rain. Then the rain turned to ice. I was standing there getting soaking wet for a good 25-30 minutes! However, by the end of the night, I have to say: it was all worth it.

I don’t want to go on and on about Greg Laswell, but he was definitely a very nice surprise. I hadn’t had a chance to research him before the show because I have been so busy, but was very impressed with his voice and songwriting. I’ll probably end up being a fan eventually.

Ingrid and the band, as expected, performed beautifully and to the audience’s liking the entire night. Tonight’s show was the last stop of their North American tour, and their 47^th show in 2 months. Allie Moss, Ingrid’s guitarist and usual back up vocalist, had lost her voice, but still smiled, laughed, and even sang some parts. What a trooper! You would never know they were tired, or sick of what they were doing because the energy was consistent the entire show, even with Allie Moss as a mute.

One thing that I picked up on early in the performance was Ingrid’s voice. Given the last time she performed in Pittsburgh she was sick, I have to say that her tone and timbre of her voice was a lot richer and developed than I ever remember it. This was particularly noticeable in the second song of the night, “Die Alone.” I’m not a professional by any means, but as a constant Ingrid YouTuber, and follower, it was something that caught my…ears.

Her set list also had some unique features. She played a new untitled song, which has made its way to YouTube thanks to me a die-hard fan. After the song, she asked what it should be named, to which a voice behind me gave a suggestion. I guess we’ll wait and see if it makes the next album, and if she took his advice. Immediately following that song, she introduced another new song: a duet with Greg Laswell. This song is also untitled, unrecorded and unpublished. It was a very ‘happy in-love type of song’ and if I didn’t know any better, I’d say that maybe Greg and Ingrid are in to each other? A friend I was with noticed that they both had wedding rings on, so who knows? It will be interesting if we find this out for sure somewhere down the road.

After the show was finished, Ingrid did 2 encores, including a Mexican-food themed version of her current single “Maybe,” which the audience ate up absolutely loved.

Overall, the show was a huge success, and Ingrid and her band’s musicianship made for what many would call an entertaining, fun, and enjoyable evening.

I have to say thank you first to Brian Vinikoor for making the arrangements for me to see the show. I really really appreciate it, and I’m not sure there’s anyone who could appreciate these efforts more than I. Also, thank you to the merchandise manager, Lauren Glucksman, for being so helpful with the misunderstanding with the guest list, saving my ass from the rain, and for being so fun after the show!

I wrote you a letter last night. I screamed & I cried, & I’ve rehearsed what I would say to you so many times now I can’t keep reality away from dreams away from made-up conversations written out in my head. The letter felt good to say, even though you’ll never see it. I wish I could show you how I feel right now. I wish I could walk up to you in the hallways and make you feel how I feel right now. I want you to know what it felt like on that night when the pain was so bad I couldn’t stand up straight. I want you to know how badly I need to hit you & cry & hit you again & then throw my tears at you by the pound. Half of me wants you back & the other half thinks maybe I’m better of without you? but all of me knows I never got the closure I need, not to mention deserve, and all of me wants that. & I’m going to get it, too. One day months from now, when you aren’t expecting it, I’m gonna walk up to you and hurl it at you, all of it at once. It’s not that I want you to hurt, really, it’s just that I want to understand so badly why this happened & I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get that.

Thank you for everything. Thank you for being there & helping me & knowing that I don’t need explanations so much as I need explanations, and that I just need to forget about him by talking about him constantly & thank you so much. & thank you for sending me those letters. You have no idea how much it helped. Also thank you for the tea.

I know you don’t know the words, but in the end it’s not the words that matter it’s the fact that you wanted there to be words. & I don’t even really need the words. I don’t know what I need, but please know that it means to much to me.

I think we should all go on a vacation someday to somewhere far far away & stay in a castle. I think that’d be nice. I also think we should wear ballgowns/tuxedos/some ambiguous version of a ballgown or tuxedo, whatever that is, & have a ball. In both senses of the word.

Honestly, nothing has ever helped me as much as this. You can’t begin to know, for so many reasons, but thank you. Sometimes I just can’t find the words, but… you always can.

I dropped and broke my camera on Halloween, so I wasn’t able to take any pictures of the Ingrid Michaelson show at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville yesterday.  We did get a picture with her afterward though, courtesy my sister’s camera:

Also, the show was amazing.  I’ve seen Ingrid play 4 times now.  Twice while I lived in New York in 2006/2007, once when the Hotel Cafe tour came through Nashville in 2008, and last night was my fourth.  My only problem with the Belcourt was that we were sitting down; I wanted to get up and dance!  I can’t wait for her to come back, though.  Last night was a fabulous way to start off the month of November.

Quote of the Night: Ingrid, after drinking from her aluminum water bottle: “You know, I’m trying to be good to the environment, but this just tastes like a key.”
