I am sorry that my previous post was left absolutely bare. I was really occupied and I couldn’t catch a break. It’s been crazy these past few days since I’ve been translating a lot of work from Malay to English, and truthfully, I am quite sick of it! It is possible that I may be borderline ADHD since my mind is ALWAYS distracted and I get bored of the things I do, a lot. Let’s hope I get past this. But I do like a challenge every now and then to stimulate my mind and all that.

But anyhow, after some observation after my Spring cleaning, I noticed that I have loads of clothes that I hardly wear, and they still seem to be in pretty decent condition, which is why I am going to start a little blog shop to sell off my pre-loved goodies for cheap. Getting rid of these clothes would be great for making more room to fit my shoes in my closet and at the same time, I’d be able to save up for a heel spur surgery.

Yes, I suffer from a heel spur. All that ballet-flat lovin’ has just turned evil and left me with stiff inflammation on my left foot, making it impossible for me to enjoy wearing flip flops and any flat shoes in general. This sadly, would mean that I have to end up wearing shoes with a slight heel, which isn’t really that bad, but it’s quite heart-breaking that I have some comfortable and adorable flat shoes. So, for the sake of fashion, I’m gonna get my foot sliced so that I can enjoy flat shoes. It’s not really that bad if you think about it. I am going through A LOT of physical pain, so I think surgery is justified!

I am guilty, guilty and guilty for not writing for almost a month. Work has drained me dry of my time, and guess what? I’m still swamped with work. As much as I love being busy, I’m still a little annoyed when I get work after work piling on top of the other.

However, a little on the fun side, I did get an invite to my first blogger’s conference on Tuesday! Wouldn’t really call it an accomplishment, but it’s definitely something I am excited about ever since I got into blogging.

The Malaysia International Tourism Bloggers and Conference (MITBC) kicked off on 8th of May, followed by the second day on the 9th. Although the conference was mainly on promoting travel blogging, it still found it really cool that I got to attend. The talks given gave me quite an insight into blogging, but more importantly it gave me more of a boost to write more.

I hope to be apart of more upcoming blogger events/conferences to get myself and FGF a little out there. It was an amazing feeling to be apart of an online community, and might I say it was a little intimidating too.

But today is Sunday, and it’s a day of rest for me. It’s definitely a night for staying-in and chilling-out to nature documentaries. Or Real Housewives of New York. God, I’m such a weakling!

Mondays can be hectic. Which is why I am gulping down a bottle of milk.

If you’re reading this, I am so happy to let you know that I need your help. Seriously. I am compelled (and quite appalled at myself for selling out like this) to ask you for your recommendation/opinion/suggestions.

So here’s the deal!

 It’s my cousin’s birthday tomorrow, and I am in a big dilemma trying to figure out what color of nail polish to match my outfit. It’s a simple girls night out, and my outfit is really simple. I’m wearing a silver sequin dress which I’ve outgrown so much, it will look like a top. Anyhow, I will be pairing it with a pair of black opaque leggings and a good old black blazer. It’s not a formal event, but I’m opting for something super laid back without trying to hard!

As for accessories, I am planning to debut my gorgeous pearl-drop chandelier earrings I got over at Diva’s on sale a few months back, and a mint green clutch with a gold chain. As for shoes, I haven’t really decided if I should wear my black pumps or my pastel lilac ballet flats. See, I have a real issue with heels; I would rather not wear them when I have adorable pumps that screams cuteness. But anyhow, here’s a board I made over at Polyvore, just to give you a simple idea.

The sequin dress is exactly the one I got from Forever21 ages ago and only worn once. It looks much like a blouse since its tight on me.  The mint clutch looks 98% accurate to the one I own, and the black pumps..I have nothing like that. And the blazer too. My blazer’s a blazer. Not a boyfriend blazer or the waterfall ones that I am so obsessed with.

So, my beautiful readers.

Ah, I’m back.

My apologies in the lack of inspiration/positive posts lately. Stress has gotten to me lately and it’s quite obvious that stress does no good to anyone.

So how did I tame it? By giving myself a fresh new outlook, of course. I thought hard about creating my own beauty kit for May. My kit included a box Garnier hair dye in Cappuccino, Loreal’s Nutri-Gloss Conditioning Spray,Revlon’s Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout and Revlon’s nail polish in Gray Suede.

I don’t like too much change on my hair, but I like just enough to give me a little more vibrance et la vie. However, that’s not all. Light brown DIY highlights are on their way. I have an old mascara brush that I saved for emergencies, and some salon-quality dye.

The Loreal spray is something I intend to keep in my handbag at ALL times. I’ve been planning to get this product since this range first came out in 2007, but you know procrastinators! I’ve loved this range of shampoo and conditioner, and it really DOES make your hair shinier. From using it the first day, I received compliments from everyone telling me how shiny my hair is. And that scent..I love that scent so much! The epitome of fresh!

But this spray is perfect. Apart from the attractive color, the product definitely delivers. When there’s too much frizz and not enough life, I just spritz this over and my hair somehow feels refreshed and brought back to life! This bottle definitely stays in my bag and I’ll never leave without it. Nevermind if I end up like Doraemon, being able to whip out an amazing number of things from my belly-pocket, or in this case, my handbag.

This month, I’m going to give bold colors a break and tone it down with nudes and neutrals. I love pairing bold cat-eyes and nude-pink lips. I was beginning to considering getting a nude pink lippie from MAC and then Revlon saved my wallet with Pink Pout (002) from the Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte range. It feels like a lip balm and the color was just what I was looking for. Here’s what it looks like:

Tuesday was Labour Day in Malaysia, so by keeping up with my all new fresh-look for May, I decided to stay in and give myself an itty-bitty mani-pedi. Like I said, nudes and neutrals are my go-t0 look this month, so my I decided to pick out my OPI’s Over The Taupe for my toes and Revlon’s Gray Suede on my fingernails. I really love Gray Suede. It’s not really gray or suede-like, but it’s a lovely nude with blend of pink and beige tones and very light shimmer from the micro-glitter.

I’m looking forward to May. With all hopes, I’m really hoping that it turns out to be amazing! I’ve guilty for isolating the gym, so I’m definitely going back to work-out, do some Yoga and have a steamy session in the steam-room. I know where your mind was headed when I said ‘steamy session’. Naughty!

I’m also going to keep it fresh..Like it should and keep up with my inner joie de vivre.

Oh, what a day!

The crowd and traffic has been truly epic today, all due to the sequel of a political protest that will take place around the city tomorrow. I don’t know exactly what they’re fighting for, and why the cops seem to think they’re violent, when they’re clearly not, and why couldn’t they just agree to one location instead of spreading out through out the entire city. Seriously, it’s insane!

My boyfriend and I witness last year’s drama from my apartment window. It was quite shocking to see that innocent people..casually lazing around a parking lot, were suddenly attacked by cops, beaten with bats and then arrested. I don’t know the full story, but I sure know they weren’t violent. Or doing anything.

But onto a more lighter side..I’m tired. I tried sleeping, but it turns out I couldn’t. Maybe it’s because I did not write something here today! I bet it is. This has become my life and with all the things I’ve accomplished with this blog, it really made me feel like I’ve achieved something. This month has been a whirlwind of emotions. I’ve laughed, cried, stressed out, got anxious, felt so in love, whined, grumbled, giggled quietly,celebrated romance, and watching documentaries on Youtube during my lunch break.

Can I just say I am so in love with discovering new things? If there is something you’d like to share, or something that I absolutely must check out, tell me about it. I’d love to hear from you.

I would describe today’s feeling as uugh, kill me now!

My nose feels stuffy, there’s a heatwave and I feel hot and cold at the same time, my throat’s not doing so well with the weather change, PMS is around the corner, cramps, and I’ve got all these zits on my face! And the anemia is beginning to kick it. Uuuuugh!

Pardon me if this post isn’t as inspirational as I wanted it to be, but I’ll shed some positivity over it.

With all this bundle of  surprises, I ended up going bare-faced to work. No make-up. Period. It’s not a drastic shock to my colleagues as I don’t wear THAT much make-up in general. It also helps that I rarely conceal my unconcealable dark dark circles, so I think the only shock to people would be if I was airbrushed to perfection. I once managed to conceal my dark dark circles but I looked so different, and that scared me. Whatta dork!

My daily make-up routine consists of :

1. A slab of Maybelline’s BB Cream

2. A light dust of bronzer of my cheeks for a tiny ‘flushed’ look.

3. Coats of mascara and lipbalm/lipstick

If I’m feeling creative, I play around with eyeshadow, but I haven’t been doing so the past few days due to the weather. Even the BB Cream begins to melt off my face and it mixes up with the ‘glow’ (aka sweat) and that’s just too icky to handle.

So, I decided to go bare-faced for a while, or at least until the weather starts to improve. Though, I highly doubt it, but let’s hope for the best.

 The onomatopoeia, blurgh is definitely my mood for the day.

Just one of those days where I couldn’t care about what the world thought of me. It was the day that I said “Ah, frack it!” to brushing my hair and making a formal work outfit look informal. The day that I couldn’t care that I wore my flip flops to work that had to big hearts on each sandal.

It turned out that I came prepared. The weather was dreadfully humid, and that left me a little dehydrated. Work too was exceptionally hectic in a way that after losing track of what I was doing, I broke down on my desk and cried. I know we all have those moments where we just need a break to slow down and breathe.

The stress from the office has left me a little traumatized which means that this week’s cure for the Monday Blues will be soft cotton pajamas and revisiting the first season of Battlestar Galactica. Again.

But wait..

I can already hear the thunder. Perhaps my day will end right.

What could be better than just sitting down alone or with your partner, watching a really good movie? But provided there’s an excellent sound system and a serious HD telly, well then you’ve got your own home theater experience right there!

2011 was a good year for movies for me. I have to thank fate for introducing me to Kevin because thanks to him, I was exposed a number of fantastic movies and TV shows. Gangs of New York, Trick or Treat, Candy..Just to name a few.

I might as well call him a movie buff for having such high standards on what one would regard as a ‘good movie’. Though, I think a lot of the movies in my list disgraced me with two thumbs down from my boyfriend. Let’s just say we have different tastes when it comes what a good movie is. To him, it’s a good story-line, a good flow, a good feel..all that things critiques look for. For me, it’s a little bit of both, but I do enjoy something peculiar or really mind-boggling once in a while. But I do indulge in pseudo-chic films, just to get me to look posh once a while.

But I thought I’d share some of the films I enjoy. Since we’ve already established a kind of writer-reader relationship, we might as well get to know each other.

Walk Hard – The Dewey Cox Story (2007)

Inspired by Ray (Ray Charles) and Walk The Line (Johnny Cash), you might just enjoy this flick. A fictional tale about the life of a fictional musician, the movie illustrates the tale of Dewey Cox, an profoundly talented young boy who grew up to be a great musician. The film is truly hilarious, but it has its deep moments. Apart from the low-brow humor, Walk Hard has an astounding soundtrack. If you listen to the main song Walk Hard, you’ll see that is a really good song and the entire soundtrack is too as Dewey Cox channels every popular genre of each decade (Rock ‘n’ Roll for the 50s, Folk Rock for the 70′s, etc).

The coolest bits of the film are the cameos of actors playing popular figures such as Jack White as Elvis, Frankie Muniz as Buddy Holly and best of all (yet puzzling), Jack Black as Paul McCartney from The Beatles. My favorite scene of the movie is when Dewey Cox and his band goes to an ashram in India to ‘seek themselves’ for the purpose of their music (like the Beatles or was it an excuse to have more LSD?). I don’t want to spoil the scene for you because its something that’s quite impractical to explain, but check it out here. I like how their accents are so bad and they try to “look British” with the pursed lips, which doubles humor. I was profoundly impressed with Paul Rudd’s impersonation of John Lennon.

Walk Hard is a movie that has to be seen to actually appreciate. When you do watch the movie, give the soundtrack a chance too.

Your Highness (2011)

Everyone’s entitled to their own guilty pleasures, and I will happily admit that I have a big number of them. Based on the internet research, Your Highness has mixed reviews. Some find it ridiculous and appalling, some find that it to be a decent film, but that appeals to reefer-lovers who enjoy juvenile sense of comedy. I for one, enjoy juvenile and low-brow humor, which explains my obsession with Family Guy and South Park. But generalizations aside, I was mainly hooked on Your Highness for a few reasons. First, the cast; James Franco is possibly one of the best actors of our time. We’ve seen him play a villian in SpiderMan and an almost brain-damaged weed dealer in Pineapple Express. Versatile is the best word to describe Franco and to see him play thick-headed Prince Charming in a comedy chills everything out. Also from Pineapple Express is Danny McBride who plays lazy Prince Thadeus in Your Highness.
Furthermore, the main actresses in the films, Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel happen to be my girl-crushes but I felt Deschanel made the movie better with her doe-eyed innocence but with a hidden layer of raunchy desires. Second reason why I enjoyed the movie is the ridiculous dude-speak in ridiculous cod-British accent.

The only complaint I had about the film is the gay-factor  of the film. I have no issues with homosexuality (I know the LGBT community in Malaysia) but I feel that they could’ve toned down the “bromance” in the film. Its just too much.

TIME magazine has a 7-paragraph rant about how bad the movie is. The author noted that Your Highness is “a deconstruction, in fact a stock-car demolition, of movie competence”. Pretty dramatic, ey? [Read the whole article here.] I believe its a matter of acquired taste or what you would find entertaining. If you love your reefer and you giggle at random jokes, Your Highness might just be worth a watch. I liked the movie, but I don’t love it, but I like it enough to put it in my Top 10.

I’m not a big-time movie critique but I enjoy sharing some thoughts. That’s pretty much why I even started this blog and paid for it too!

I will probably share a couple of my favorite televisions shows too. Oh, yes. More rambling and rants from this fat cat. But before I start talking too much, I’ll finish up my coffee and get cracking on other things that are equally important. I wanted to say ‘more important things’, but this is just as important!

I made it back! I told myself to stop fiddling so much with FGF as I had to remind myself that I am not a web designer and that I SHOULD leave it to a pro to get the it all right. So, the revamping of FGF is in progress, so keep your eyes peeled for a progressive makeover (Much like my weight-loss program, ey?).

So, as I promised that I would get back in time for Sustainable Sundays. Yes, I’m also aware that it’s Easter and Saturday has been a pretty busy night, with all the travelling and all, so I decided to slouch in my printed silk kaftan, let my hair down and watch Sex and the City. And if that wasn’t glam enough, I wore bright blue leopard print unmentionables! Yes. Unmentionables.

Now, I’m not that kind of girl who watches it religiously, but when you’re in a long distance relationship, sh*t gets crazy. Kevin’s absence has turned me to the dark side, filled with macarons, ridiculous amounts of chick flicks and a nail polish obsession. Just so we’re clear, I’m not this much of a girly girl. I’m generally content watching reruns of Battlestar Galactica and Family Guy, but these few months…It’s just been an estrogen overload. *chuckles*

But enough girl talk and let’s get down to Sustainability. So, I don’t know about most of you, but I find that Pinterest is the reason why I am able to start keeping up and posting more frequently.

And if you are a regular/obsessive/down-right psycho Pinner, you may have stumbled upon this little thing that got me excited.

I had no idea that you could recycle your old flip flops and old clothes to make your very own pair of sandals! Clicking the image on Pinterest led me to A Little Tipsy with the all the things you need to make this. Apart from an old pair of flip flops and fabric, you just need a knife, so good glue and clamps. Now, I’m pretty sure everyone has those things at home, and even if you don’t, it won’t cost you an arm or a leg.

I also found that you can also buy some handmade ones on Etsy and I think I’m salivating at the designs. I currently wear 1-inch espadrilles to the office. Now, I wonder if they’ll accept these in the office.

I’m afraid I have to keep it brief for today. I need to kickstart some massive preparations for the Easter BBQ Lunch at my cousin’s house and I’m making a casserole of baked mashed potatoes with onions, cabbage and bacon. Ooooh, yes! That’s some good stuff there.

It’s the end of Caturday and I’m in bed in my leopard print tunic, hot pink shorts and donning my new cat-eye glasses.

Cheap or chic, I’m very comfortable in what I have on, thank you very much!

Considering the walls of my room are hot pink, I should definitely do this to add a touch of fabulous to little refuge!

I am dedicating this post to the man I love. My boyfriend, my partner, my leader, my strength, my fire, the light in my life. I have to say this long-distance relationship is a massive challenge, but everything in life is a challenge and you’re only fooling yourself if you only choose to give up when something hard arises.

I really don’t know where to start when it comes to describing Kevin. He’s funny, he’s gentle, strong, and mellow and he has this  energy about him that makes him stand out without even trying. Maybe its the strength that his jawline carries, maybe it’s the way his fedora matches his brogues (yes, real men wear brogues), or maybe he says the sweetest things to me and means it. Kevin was also a US Marine and I don’t know if that just adds a billion in terms of sexiness but one thing’s for sure, I’m pleased to say that I am a happy woman for being in love with a man who was honourable and courageous enough to defend his country.

Apart from attraction, Kevin changed me. Before I met him, I was a little wild and despite being quite mature for my age, he turned me into a lady and a woman. He also taught me what it really meant to be loved by someone. The kind of love shared by a man and a woman. I am so blessed to have shared that with him, and for that I love him even more for it.

I declared April OUR month as we first met in April and it will probably my favorite month out of the twelve months.

I love you, Kevin. Happy Anniversary.

PS. What is it with the fashion world getting hooked on Brogues on women? Oxfords are totally fine, but Brogues? Really? If you want to look like a minstrel or a court jester, that’s fine. But do you know who wore Brogues like a boss and tapped and danced and charmed the ladies?

How terrifying! It’s Monday. I love my Mondays except after lunch when I get these dizzy spells that make me want to sleep, but I can’t sleep because I’m at work. I wish I was not made with Nap-Mode sometimes.

Fortunately, I had a family-size bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Mini’s! Just the dose of medication I needed! It’s also doing wonders for my PMS and my craving for sweet and sinful things.

How is your Monday treating you? I feel blurry-eyed.

I’m really loving the combination of nudes and neons as part of my makeup regime. A clean face with bright and playful lips. Or playful eyes with nude lips? Maintenance is minimal, and I love how bright lips draws attention away from my tired eyes. I am wearing Maybelline’s Color Sensational in Coral Crush(551). Unfortunately it leans towards a hot pink-coral shade once it reaches my lips, but I still love it anyhow! I am also wearing my new beige chiffon top from Trendy Confessions. I apologise for the blurry pic.
