<p>Of all of the insanity that has come out of our current democrat/communist congress, this has to really take the cake. These dangerous loons have been spending us into oblivion for quite some time. The spending has been beyond irresponsible, it borders on treason.</p>
<p>This is a bi-partisan effort, by the way. Both parties are out of control, but the democrat/communist party is now out there where the busses don’t run.</p>
<p>We all know the far left loons that infect Congress, and the nation as a whole, hate our military, despise it, actually. The left’s contempt for our military is palpable, has been forever. Now they are really letting it all hang out, going for broke.</p>
<p>Congress is now saying they want to add a &#8220;war surtax&#8221; to everyone’s tax bill to pay for our national security. They are now whining that the cost of war is hurting their march toward turning America into a communist hell hole.</p>
<p>In a bit of political grandstanding Congressman David Obey (D/C-Wisc.), the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, warned that if President Barack Obama decides to send additional troops to Afghanistan, it should be funded with the new tax.</p>
<p>Don’t you just love how democrat/communists want to tax EVERYTHING?</p>
<p>Obie went on to say this:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;If we don&#8217;t pay for it, then the cost of the Afghan war will wipe out every other initiative that we have to try to rebuild our own economy,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I&#8217;m going to be fighting to get whatever they do paid for.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>That’s pretty rich! Just what are they doing to rebuild our economy? I see nothing.</p>

In fact, it’s one of the few responsibilities of the federal government that is actually, and explicitly, spelled out!</p>
<p>In other words, constitutionally, Congress has no authority to do things like take over our health care, private businesses, or even schools, but they are directed to defend the nation and the Constitution.</p>
<p>So here is where we are at. We have a Congress that is trying to fundamentally change America, take her in a direction that an overwhelming number of Americans, a super majority, do not want to go.</p>
<p>Congress has spent more money since Barack Obama has been in office than was spent in the previous 233 years of our nation’s existence, combined. From George Washington, to George W Bush, Obama and his thug Congress has spent more than all of the other 43 Presidents, combined.</p>
<p>And yet, with all of the trillions of dollars spent on social engineering, and &#8220;change,&#8221; these evil little devils can’t seem to find the money to pay for the ONE THING they are actually REQUIRED to pay for constitutionally!</p>
<p>I think it’s well past the time we continue to give these people the benefit of the doubt. Congress is out of control, and their refusal to listen to the American people is bordering on treason. We must hold these thieves, these scoundrels, accountable.</p>
<p>We must stop Congress from throwing our money away on social engineering and programs like their so-called &#8220;heath care reform&#8221; that will collapse our economy and send America into bankruptcy. We must demand that Congress stop spending and start cutting the fat.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Lenin, Telephone Poles and Migratory Birds]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>It was a morning dog walk much like every other morning dog walk, though Leeloo, Otto and I stepped out onto the porch to find conditions on the damp side.  Light rain and overcast skies set a rather melancholy tone for our 6:15 a.m. journey around Sonoma Plaza, a change from the previous morning&#8217;s clear and frosty weather.  As a rule, the dogs prefer the feel of crunchy frozen grass under paw, but are not impartial to piles of soggy leaves, provided they&#8217;re gathered sufficiently high to facilitate vigorous redistribution via aggressive hind leg action.</p>
<p>Going against common wisdom, I tend to actively pursue cognitive dissonance in my life, above and beyond the ample supply heaped upon us by everyday existence.  And so it was last night when, following the conclusion of Sherlock Holmes&#8217; <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104688/" target="_new">&#8220;The Last Vampyre&#8221;</a> (1993, Jeremy Brett, Edward Hardwicke), I retired to bed to catch up on some reading.  To supplement the online course materials for my MBA class on Research Methods, I find myself slogging through <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Marketing-Research-SPSS-Carl-McDaniel/dp/0471755281" target="_new"><em>Marketing Research</em></a> (McDaniel and Gates, 2007) and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Multivariate-Data-Analysis-Joseph-Hair/dp/0023490209/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&#38;s=books&#38;qid=1258911668&#38;sr=1-3" target="_new"><em>Multivariate Data Analysis:  With Readings</em></a> (Hair, et al., 1995), neither of which are quite the page-turners that I find <a href="http://alanfurst.net/main.htm" target="_new">Alan Furst&#8217;s</a> novels of Eastern European espionage and political intrigue in WWII to be.</p>
<p>After a dozen or so pages on <em>programmatic</em>, <em>selective</em>, and <em>evaluative</em> research, it was time for a stiff shot of <em>cogdiff</em> so I reached for my copy of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Gates-Zizek-Lenin-Writings/dp/1859845460" target="_new"><em>Revolution at the Gates:  Žižek on Lenin &#8211; The 1917 Writings</em></a> and thumbed through the remainder of Lenin&#8217;s second &#8220;Letter from Afar&#8221; (March 22, 1917), written from Zurich to his revolutionary colleagues back in Russia on the topic of the provisional revolutionary government and the proletariat.</p>
<p>Now, of course, there&#8217;s more than enough cognitive dissonance to go around here.  The transition from learning how to sell more stuff to consumers to understanding why the provisional revolutionary government&#8217;s efforts to reach compromise with the Tsarist supporters of Nicholas II, in order to protect the interest of Russian land owners, the bourgeoisie, Western European investors, and war profiteers, could only be accomplished at the expense of workers&#8217; and peasants&#8217; freedom and economic well-being, is not exactly an effortless one to make.</p>
<p>Yet it is precisely by juxtaposing contemporary marketing practices against Bolshevik political discourse that we are forced to look at the two things in a different light than we would ordinarily do.  And this is setting aside what is probably the more dissonant experience of even reading Lenin&#8217;s writings at all, in this post-Communist / post-revolutionary age.  For isn&#8217;t it commonly received wisdom that Lenin is one of the arch-villains of history, the father of the original &#8220;Evil Empire&#8221; that was ultimately vanquished by the triumphant forces of capitalism and democracy, but only after the suffering and death of millions of innocents?  What could possibly be learned from reading anything Lenin ever wrote?  Indeed&#8230;</p>
<p>In fact, what is striking about Lenin&#8217;s letters &#8211; as <a href="http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavoj_%C5%BDi%C5%BEek" target="_new">Slavoj Žižek</a> points out in his forward to the collection &#8211; is his intuitive grasp of the revolutionary conditions of possibility which emerged as a result of the incipient failure of the initial revolt against tsarist rule in 1917 (itself a continuation of the failure of the 1905 uprising).   As Lenin observed, most commentators surveying the events of early 1917 interpreted the situation as portending either the gradual transition from autocratic monarchy to constitutional liberal democracy (should the revolution succeed) or the restoration of monarchical power, albeit with some provisions for limited democratic expression (should the revolution fail).  Lenin, on the other hand, understood that conditions were unfolding under which the power of a unified coalition of workers and peasants &#8211; a coalition which did not yet exist but would have to be forged by the Bolshevik Party and it&#8217;s allies &#8211; could sweep away both the tsarists and the parties of established wealth and privilege, and the lay the foundation for a truly transformational society.</p>
<p>Well, we all know how that turned out.  And yet, at 6:30 a.m. on a damp and foggy morning, it&#8217;s hard (for me) not to reflect on current conditions, here at the <a href="http://www.wesjones.com/eoh.htm" target="_new">&#8220;end of history&#8221;</a>.  We&#8217;re being told by our leaders that threatened economic collapse has been avoided and that we are slowly on the road to recovery, despite ample evidence all around us that the situation remains dire and the underlying systemic causes of the melt-down remain unaddressed.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, as the dogs stopped to inspect what to my untrained nose was yet another indistinguishable patch of grass, I noticed someone, warmly bundled against the chill, standing in the shadows by the duck pond, distributing bread crumbs to several large ducks.  Once upon a time, chickens and ducks roamed Sonoma Plaza freely, and a pond had been constructed to provide suitable &#8220;natural&#8221; habitat for the migratory ducks and geese who dropped in for seasonal visits.  Like many good deeds, this one had unintended consequences, as the feathered visitors flocked to enjoy the new amenities, and warm-hearted residents were more than happy to provide snacks.  Eventually the chickens were banished from the Plaza, in 1999, allegedly out of concern for their own safety.  The ducks, who were reconsidering their migratory status and contemplating a more settled lifestyle, were periodically &#8220;culled&#8221; &#8211; an interesting euphemism &#8211; in order to keep their numbers under control.</p>
<p>My overactive imagination wondered whether this scene wasn&#8217;t ripe for some kind of critical analogy about homelessness, illegal immigration, bleeding heart liberalism, welfare, or any number of political hot button issues bombarding us these days.  I confess to actually looking around to see if there might be someone of a different ideological persuasion lurking in a car, hammering away furiously on a laptop his or her latest inflammatory outburst of righteous indignation.  I didn&#8217;t see anyone though, so the dogs and I proceeded around to the other side of the Plaza.</p>
<p>My take away from the metaphorically-overdetermined bird feeding scene is that there&#8217;s nothing easier than building simple analogies from complex assortments of facts.  Feeding migratory birds apparently reduces their inclination to migrate and renders them dependent on the kindness of strangers to subsist through the months of inclement weather.  Better to let them fly away south for the winter, to warmer environs.  Thanks for the visit, see you next spring.  And so too migrant farm workers and homeless people, n&#8217;est-ce pas?  When I lived in Santa Barbara, free bus tickets to Long Beach were used to promote the orderly process of seasonal migration.</p>
<p>The morning walk was almost done, as we prepared to cross the street to where the Subaru was parked in front of the Ledson Hotel.  I noticed how the view down First Street East of the old First Baptist Church, built in the late 19th century, was partly obscured by the telephone poles arrayed like fence posts from one corner to the next.  It occurred to me that when electricity and telephones were first introduced, the presence of these poles and wires must have been experienced as signs of modernity and progress &#8211; of the spread of civilisation and all its conveniences.  Of course, there were no doubt Luddites who bemoaned the passing of an earlier age, but the benefits of these new technologies far outweighed romantic nostalgia or aesthetic considerations.   But in 2009, I&#8217;m struck by how unsightly these things are, and how they&#8217;ve lost whatever earlier sense of the new and modern they might have conveyed.  The fact that the more affluent parts of town have removed all external traces of these things &#8211; save for the occasional gray fiberglass &#8220;rock&#8221; signifying the location of an access point to underground utility cabling &#8211; speaks volumes to where we are today.</p>
<p>With the dogs snug in the back of the car, we concluded our walk and drove home, to reflect on the things we&#8217;d seen this morning and to eat some kibble.</p>

<p>Before we delve a little into that, lets consider what opinions on the net are saying about some Microsoft technologies, we are seeing Zune making attempts to dethrone the household name of Ipod, we see Bing foraging in the scraps left from Googles dinner table (IMO) and we see Windows 7 being presented by some as being great because&#8230;..&#8221;its better than Vista&#8221;</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve often said that Microsoft has its fingers in too many pies and instead of being able to concentrate on making a few world class products it has become &#8220;jack of all trades, master of none&#8221; (IMO) The sheer size of the corporate slug Microsoft means in my opinion that its revenue stream just cannot support all the employee&#8217;s, schemes and innovations that it currently has.  To me Microsoft is well aware of its bad image and that&#8217;s why I think we see Microsoft selling parts of its patent portfolio in the hope of attacking its competitors by proxy.</p>
<p>So now we move onto the shareholders meeting.</p>
<p>It certainly makes interesting reading and for me asks the question &#8220;how focused and organized are Microsoft?&#8221; Read the answers that Steve Ballmer gives to some of the questioned put to him.  Do they sound like the answers of a well crafted plan or an attempt to merely defend the company?  I&#8217;ll let you answer that yourselves.</p>
<p>So whilst Microsoft tries to become trendy (IMO) it again seems to miss the mark when even its shareholders can&#8217;t convince their own children that Microsoft products are the ones they want and it seems that Apple gets the prize with them for producing the tech which is used.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t really think this shareholders comment will come as a surprise to anyone.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>All four of my kids in undergraduate got Macs.  When they went on to graduate school, they all got Macs.  They claim that 65 percent of college students have Macs.  They claim that Microsoft, the evil empire, is stodgy on the current ad that Apple has, you all look like a buffoon.</em></strong></p></blockquote>
<p>If Microsoft are not aware of the stiff competition it appears in my opinion that atleast its shareholders are:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>Just a really short question.  I&#8217;m a rather new shareholder and I would like to know why Microsoft can&#8217;t beat, together with Nokia, Apple iPhone, and Google&#8217;s Android.  What are you going to do about it?</em></strong></p></blockquote>
<p>and if I was present at that meeting representing Microsoft, I&#8217;d shout proudly &#8220;Zune and Bing!&#8221; and possibly &#8220;Oh yeah and Winmob. I know we messed up last time, but dig deep and give us another go!&#8221; &#8211; Yep that ought to pacify the shareholders!?!?</p>
<p>Its coincidence in the last article I covered Bill Gates and his comment about people &#8220;stealing&#8221; Microsoft products and working out how to get a return later, lets look at that comment again (said in the early 90&#8217;s)</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>Although about 3 million computers get sold every year in China, but   people don&#8217;t pay for the software,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Someday they will, though.   As long as they are going to steal it, we want them to steal ours.   They&#8217;ll get sort of addicted, and then we&#8217;ll somehow figure out how to   collect sometime in the next decade.</em></strong></p></blockquote>
<p>and now Steve Ballmer 2009 at the shareholders meeting:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>&#8230;I think we feel very good about our position.  Whether we prevail or not, we&#8217;re going through the legal process in China&#8230;..</strong></p>
<p><strong>So, there&#8217;s a lot of work to be done on intellectual property protection in China.  We both want to be at the forefront of doing that well ourselves.  And we expect to see our own intellectual property much better protected in China.  That is very important to us.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>It sure seems time to <a href="http://www.we7.com/track/-Dont-Fear-The-Reaper?trackId=215511&#38;m=0" target="_blank">pay the reaper</a>.</p>
<p>So with Microsoft shareholders even making comments like evil empire and buffoon.  Has Microsoft still got &#8220;the right stuff&#8221; to last as the biggest player in the IT world?  Whilst in my opinion Microsoft is trying to cash in with old concepts that have already established a customer base (Zune/Bing) whilst also trying to convince people that they&#8217;ve got it wrong about Vista, Windows 7 is great and XP is only supported with security updates, one has to wonder if in fact the comment Mr Ballmer made about Google being a &#8220;house of cards&#8221; is more relevant to Microsoft?</p>
<p>Mr Ballmer says at this meeting,</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>And we are excited to be bringing our cloud computing platform to market with Windows Azure and SQL Azure, which we announced this week, will be available commercially by the first of next year.</em></strong></p></blockquote>
<p>which is strange because Andre Da Costa seems to imply that we are far away from a cloud computing future.  Having said that, if Andre has seen the comments where Mr Ballmer calls Google a house of cards, maybe Andre holds no worth in what Mr Ballmer has to say.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><a href="http://openbytes.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/destroyer.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2398 alignright" title="destroyer" src="http://openbytes.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/destroyer.jpg?w=300" alt="" width="300" height="179" /></a>But wait&#8230;.it does get better!?!?!</span></strong></h2>
<p>Of course theres &#8220;great&#8221; news which wasn&#8217;t mentioned at this meeting and I would suggest that maybe you don&#8217;t get too comfortable with Windows 7&#8230;.Why? because according to the Microsoft road map (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/21/microsoft-roadmap-pegs-windows-8-release-for-2012-or-just-after/" target="_blank">and this article</a>) Windows 8 is on its way for 2012!  So enjoy Windows 7 and get ready to buy into Windows 8 in just over 2 years&#8230;remember, &#8220;its always better the next time&#8221;.</p>

<title><![CDATA[maybe only half evil?]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><a href="http://wonlife.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/wal-mart-image.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1099" title="wal-mart-image" src="http://wonlife.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/wal-mart-image.jpg" alt="" width="100" height="100" /></a> whatever else you might think of wal-wart- and i&#8217;m told there are people who love them &#8211; they are apparently not as wholly evil as i once thought. i was one of the people who considered them to be the lynch-pin of the axis of evil, and i did my best to avoid them. but, where i live, if one wants to buy, for instance, underwear, where once there were several places to shop, there now is nowhere but wal-mart within a 45 minute drive. even though probably kmart and other big, cheapo box stores got their underwear from the same factory in malaysia as wal-mart, it was nice to have a choice. now, those other stores are all gone, and there is just wal-mart. well known for their anti-union, low-paying, no-insurance-providing practices, i felt like i was betraying my principles by stepping foot in the front door (and doing my best to ignore their sticker-weilding greeters).</p>
<p>while the way they treat their employees has, as far as i know, not changed, i was a bit startled to discover that they are purveyors of a lot of organic food. in the film &#8220;food, inc.&#8221; (mentioned in my last post), the owner of stonyfeild farms, a major player in the organic yogurt market, said that he happily sells his product to wal-mart and that every million dollar sale to them means so many thousands of pounds of pesticides and bovine growth hormones and other assorted nasty chemicals removed from the environment. he said his fellow yogurt makers are horrified that he sells to wal-mart, but he seemed pretty pleased with the deal. the image in the film of the shelves in the store with the &#8220;organic&#8221; tag, and rows of stonyfeild farms products was impressive. to hear some big-wig in the wal-mart empire saying they had committed to only selling no-growth-hormone milk, and other organic foods,  because that was what their customers demanded was enough to get my wife to drive the extra 20 minutes to the nearest wal-mart with a supermarket to see for herself what it was all about.</p>
<p>and sure enough, she came home with organic pork, chicken, produce and the like. she was very impressed that these things could be had &#8211; and at the same price she would have paid at the &#8220;regular&#8221; supermarket for the same items.</p>
<p>now, i am still concerned with the way wal-mart treats it&#8217;s employees and the local economy. but i won&#8217;t go into a rant about that here &#8211; refer to &#8220;<a href="http://walmartwatch.com/" target="_blank">wal-mart watch</a>&#8221; for that half of the story. don&#8217;t get me started!</p>
<p>apparently, if one only goes in to purchase organic foods, one will come away pleasantly surprised. i&#8217;m just sorry that making those purchases supports the company as a whole, a company with a pretty poor record for treating employees and for how it impacts local economies. it might be worth the effort to locate other non-evil-empire purveyors of organic foods. but at the very least, wal-mart ( and i can&#8217;t believe i am writing this!) is to be commended on their support of the organic food industry.</p>

<p>Cancer is a vicious killer, and one that hits home for me, having lost my dad at an early age, and several close friends to the dreaded disease. The good news about cancer though, is through innovation and research, by top scientists, survival rates have soared.</p>
<p>One of the really important developments that have lead directly to more cancer survivors is early detection through screenings. But if the communists in Congress, and Obama have their way, this will come to a grinding halt.</p>
<p>You see, screening costs money. Not only do those tests cost money, but so do the follow up tests as well treatments. Many cancer treatments are highly successful, but highly expensive, as well.</p>
<p>One thing we know, for sure, when the federal government unconstitutionally takes over health care, there will be a finite amount of money to be spent on caring for the sick. To make these dollars stretch, expensive treatments and many tests will have to be stopped, or postponed. Decisions to do this will be made by unelected and unaccountable boards of so-called experts, or as Sarah Palin has labeled them, death panels.</p>
<p>These &#8220;experts&#8221; won’t necessarily all be doctors, but they will be bean counters.</p>
<p>We’re seeing a couple of issues already, and ObamaCare hasn’t even passed. The first is in breast cancer screening. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force has made the recommendation that we no longer do mammograms at age 40. It is their idea that 50 is the proper age to start, and those self exams? Forget about ‘em!</p>
<p>From <a href="http://breastcancer.about.com/b/2009/11/16/mammo-guidelines.htm">Breast Cancer.com</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>The standard schedule of starting screening mammograms at age 40 may soon change, and breast cancer prevention strategies would be improved, according to the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force. Women may not begin to have screening mammograms until they are 50, and they may cease doing breast self-exams altogether, if the newest guidelines for breast cancer screening from the USPSTF are widely adopted. In Canada and the United Kingdom, 50 is already the age at which screening mammography is begun. These new guidelines may have an impact on what health insurance providers will pay for.</p>
<p>The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has updated its recommendations for breast cancer screening. After using computer simulation models to project the results of different screening strategies, the task force said that they recommend the changes because they want to cut down on the &#8220;harms&#8221; and risks of testing, which they believe do not outweigh the benefits. They cite too many false positives, unnecessary biopsies, anxiety, or in short, overdiagnosis. Their November 2009 guidelines suggest:</p>
<p>* Women between 40 and 49 years old should not be having routine screening mammograms. Instead, they say that women should make an informed decision about screening mammography before 50, and weigh their potential risks and benefits with their doctors.</p>
<p>* Women who are 50 to 74 years old should be having a screening mammogram every other year, because the risk for breast cancer increases as you age.</p>
<p>* Women over 74 years old are not given specific guidelines about routine screening mammography &#8211; as their risk of death from heart disease and other ailments is greater than from breast cancer.</p>
<p>* Women of any age should not be taught to do breast self-exams, but BSE is not forbidden.</p>
<p>* Clinical breast exams will not be required before screening mammograms, because CBE appears to add no benefit to the information gained from a mammogram.</p>
<p>In 2002, the USPSTF guidelines for breast cancer screening stated that women 40 and older should have annual mammograms to screen for breast cancer. The American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute have also agreed on screening mammograms for women ages 40 to 70. The The American Cancer Society will maintain their recommendation to start screening mammograms at age 40.</p>
<p>Mammography is not a perfect tool and neither is a breast self-exam. But it seems odd to take away these two tools, which we have been told are important, for women aged 40 &#8211; 49. This same battle has been fought before, in the mid-1990s. It was resolved by 1997, when the National Cancer Institute agreed to support mammograms for women in their forties.</p>
<p>In an editorial published in Annals of Internal Medicine, Dr. Karla Kerlikowske says that the focus should shift from screening and early detection to breast cancer prevention interventions. But for this to be effective, Dr. Kerlikowske says that we need a better risk model, more research on prevention, and standards &#8220;for routinely assessing risk factors, calculating breast cancer risk, and reporting risk to women and providers in an easily understandable format.&#8221; Couldn&#8217;t we wait, until more research has been done, before we change screening guidelines? Won&#8217;t women be more at risk for ten years of their lives, if they are not having a mammogram and doing their self-exams?</p>
</blockquote>
<p>This sentence hit me like a ton of bricks, just because of the wording:</p>
<blockquote><p>
Women of any age should not be taught to do breast self-exams, but BSE is not forbidden.</p></blockquote>
<p>Are you kidding me? &#8220;BSE&#8221; stands for breast self examination. And this government death panel is telling women they shouldn’t learn how to do them, but are not &#8220;forbidden&#8221; from learning how and doing them. How generous of them.</p>
<p>That one word, &#8220;forbidden,&#8221; when talking about what one can and cannot do with their own body, in the privacy of their own home, tells you all you need to know about the entire process that is coming down the pike, and the mentality of those who will sit in judgement on these death panels.</p>
<p>You will notice too, that in making this recommendation, this death panel references the UK and Canada as their model of inspiration. Two counties that have such great health care, because of government control, that those who can, leave the country for treatment of anything more complex than a head cold.</p>
<p>From Deroy Murdock at <a href="http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NjhmOGU0MDdhM2Y5YmEyMzVmNjZhZWZiMTA3ZTQyOTA=">National Review Online</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Compare America’s system with Canada’s and Great Britain’s. The latter are single-payer, universal health-care programs in which medical treatment is free at the point of service (Yay!), although citizens eventually pay for it through higher taxes (Boo!).</p>
<p>According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development data, there were 26.6 MRI machines in the U.S. per million people in 2004. In Canada, there were 4.9 such devices, while Britain enjoyed 5. For every 100,000 Americans, 2006 saw 436.8 receive angioplasties. Among Canadians, that figure was 135.9, while only 93.2 Britons per 100,000 got that cardiac procedure.</p>
<p>Maybe that’s why, among American men, heart-attack deaths in 2004 stood at 53.8 per 100,000. In Canada, 58.3 men per 100,000 died of cardiac arrest, while coronaries buried 69.5 of every 100,000 British males.</p>
<p>The fatality rate for breast cancer, according to the National Center for Policy Analysis and Lancet Oncology, is 25 percent in the U.S., 28 percent in Canada, and 46 percent in Great Britain.</p>
<p>Among those diagnosed with prostate cancer, 19 percent die of the disease in America. In Canada, 25 percent of such patients succumb to this disease. And in Great Britain — an Anglophone NATO member and America’s closest ally — prostate cancer kills 57 percent of those who contract it. That is triple the American fatality rate.</p></blockquote>

<p>Notice, there is a serious lack of medical equipment in Canada and the UK, specifically, MRI machines and CT scanners, equipment that American hospitals use extensively on a daily basis to save lives.</p>
<p>You will also notice that breast cancer is slightly more likely to kill you in Canada, and probably will kill you in jolly old England. And if you are a guy, you really don’t want to live in either Canada or the UK. In the UK prostate cancer is death sentence for most.</p>

<p>It was a breath of fresh air to finally hear the Democrats admit to their health care bill as &#8220;a lot of show and tell and razzmatazz,&#8221; (see Democrat talking points, in reference to my book). At least now we’re all on the same page when discussing the problems with their monstrous government health care &#8220;reform&#8221; plan.</p>
<p>Now, tonight, more disconcerting news – the New York Times reports of new guidelines to scale back cervical cancer screenings. The recommendation from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists comes on the heels of another recommendation to limit breast cancer screenings with mammograms. There are many questions unanswered for me, but one which immediately comes to mind is whether costs have anything to do with these recommendations. The current health care debate elicits great concern because of its introduction of socialized medicine in America and the inevitable rationed care. We need to carefully watch this debate as it coincides with Capitol Hill’s debate and determine whether we are witnessing the early stages of that rationed care before the Senate bill is rushed through as well.</p>
<p>Another question is why these women-focused cancers are seemingly receiving substandard attention at a time when proactive health and fitness should be the message. Every woman should encourage rigorous debate to ensure that our collective voices are heard. We are paying attention to Washington’s health care proposals, and we want to hear what helps patients the most.</p>
<p>We need answers: Is early screening not saving lives? Why do doctors’ groups disagree? Did costs play any role in these decisions to change the recommendations on breast and cervical cancer screenings? We need assurances that everything we’ve heard this week about fewer tests for women’s cancers is a result of patient-focused research and providing the best care for the right reasons, and not because of bureaucratic pressure to control costs.</p>
<p>Obviously the first thought that comes to mind when hearing of these new recommendations from bureaucratic panels is &#8220;rationed care.&#8221; It’s fair – and healthy – to ask if that’s what Washington has in mind with a government-controlled takeover of a health care system.</p>

<p>The rationing of health care is the only way ObamaCare will work. Again, there will be a finite amount of money budgeted to the nation’s health care. Our &#8220;benevolent leaders&#8221; will &#8220;generously allow&#8221; only a certain amount of the money they confiscate from us to actually be used to keep us in good health.</p>
<p>I mean, look, some of this money is desperately needed for more important projects, like keeping ACORN and SEIU in the &#8220;community organizing&#8221; business. How else will the</p>
<p>democrat/communists keep the glorious people’s revolution alive?</p>
<p>I promised you more still on death panels. (Like this ain’t enough!) Here’s an alarming report from the<a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8367614.stm"> BBC</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Liver cancer drug &#8216;too expensive&#8217;</p>
<p>A drug that can prolong the lives of patients with advanced liver cancer has been rejected for use in the NHS in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.</p>
<p>The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said the cost of Nexavar &#8211; about £3,000 a month &#8211; was &#8220;simply too high&#8221;.</p>
<p>But Macmillan Cancer Support said the decision was &#8220;a scandal&#8221;.</p>
<p>More than 3,000 people are diagnosed with liver cancer every year in the UK and their prognosis is generally poor.</p>
<p>Only about 20% of patients are alive one year after diagnosis, dropping to just 5% after five years.</p>
<p>&#8216;Disappointed&#8217;</p>
<p>Campaigner Kate Spall, who won the right to have two months of treatment for her mother, Pamela Northcott, in 2007, said it had prolonged her life by four-and-a-half &#8220;precious&#8221; months.</p>
<p>It had allowed her 58-year-old mother, from Dyserth in Denbighshire, &#8220;closure&#8221; and &#8220;peace&#8221;, she told BBC Radio 4&#8217;s Today programme.</p>
<p>&#8220;The problem in Mum&#8217;s case is it took a year for me to fight for the treatment, so we&#8217;ll never know how well she could have done,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>Prof Jonathan Waxman: &#8220;I&#8217;m very unhappy about the way these decisions are made&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We had extra time, which was very precious to us all, her symptoms were helped greatly. And, more importantly, for Mum it was a case of getting some closure and peace.</p>
<p>&#8220;The psychological feeling when a group of people decide that you cannot have a treatment that can help you is really devastating.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cancer Research UK&#8217;s chief clinician Peter Johnson said the decision was &#8220;enormously frustrating&#8221; because there was no doubt about the drug&#8217;s effectiveness.</p>
<p>He said: &#8220;There&#8217;s no alternative treatment and there are no other places for people to go. It is expensive, but the only issue is cost and the number of patients affected are quite few &#8211; there&#8217;s probably only six or seven hundred patients a year.&#8221;</p>
<p>Nexavar &#8211; also known as sorafenib &#8211; had already been rejected in Scotland, despite studies showing it could extend the life of a liver cancer patient by up to six months.</p>
<p>&#8216;Devastating disease&#8217;</p>
<p>The Scottish Medicines Consortium ruled that &#8220;the manufacturer&#8217;s justification of the treatment&#8217;s cost in relation to its benefit was not sufficient to gain acceptance&#8221;.</p>
<p>Andrew Dillon, chief executive of NICE, agreed: &#8220;The price being asked by [the manufacturer] Bayer is simply too high to justify using NHS money which could be spent on better value cancer treatments.&#8221;</p>
<p>And the group&#8217;s clinical and public health director, Peter Littlejohns, added the drug was considered &#8220;just too expensive&#8221; by its advisory committees.</p>
<p>Nexavar is routinely offered to cancer patients elsewhere in the world, and Mike Hobday, head of campaigns at Macmillan Cancer Support, said he was &#8220;extremely disappointed&#8221; at NICE&#8217;s decision.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is a scandal that the only licensed drug proven to significantly prolong the lives of people with this devastating disease has been rejected, leaving them with no treatment options,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Alison Rogers, chief executive of the British Liver Trust, said: &#8220;The decision to reject a treatment for advanced liver cancer is a huge blow for patients.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is a treatment to extend life for people where all other options have run out.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is particularly hard for people with liver cancer given that treatments for many other advanced cancers have been given the green light by NICE.</p>
<p>&#8220;People with liver disease often face stigma and discrimination and sadly this decision feels like a further disadvantage to them.&#8221;</p>
<p>Earlier this year, a government review of end-of-life treatment said NICE should give extra weight to drugs that could extend a patient&#8217;s life.</p>
<p>The Department of Health said NICE was not ignoring that recommendation, but the NHS could not just pay for any drug at any cost.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The UK is a very totalitarian system when it comes to patient care. The system also strips it’s citizens of many basic liberties and freedoms we take for granted in America.<a href="http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/worried-about-death-panels-how-about-marriage-panels/"> As I wrote in an earlier piece</a>, not only do they have death panels in the UK, these government monstrosities have evolved into what I am calling &#8220;lifestyle panels.&#8221;</p>

<blockquote><p>Kerry Robertson, 17, and Mark McDougall, 25, haven’t broken any law. But they are on the run from the authorities, and from their home in Dunfermline, Scotland.</p>
<p>Less than eight weeks ago the couple were excitedly planning their wedding. They had booked church ceremony for the 5th of September, a Saturday. She had already chosen and bought her wedding dress. They had bought the rings, and invited 20 guests. Two days before the big day, however, social services told them that their wedding would have to be cancelled. Fife Council wrote a letter, objecting to the marriage, to Dunfermline Register Office, who consequently refused to marry the couple.</p>
<p>Social services claim Kerry cannot understand what marriage means, because she has learning difficulties. They are mild, it seems. She is able to read and write, and is going to college to &#8220;catch up.&#8221; Her partner Mark told the Daily Mail: &#8220;&#8216;I didn&#8217;t even know she had learning difficulties until we&#8217;d been dating for two months.&#8221;</p>
<p>Kerry is 29 weeks pregnant – with a boy they have named Ben. &#8220;Although Ben isn&#8217;t born yet,&#8221; Kerry says, &#8220;I already love my baby and know I will be a good mum. Mark and I talk to him inside me every day and tell him we love him. We&#8217;ve already bought him clothes and my cousin, who recently had a baby, has handed down a beautiful crib for him.&#8221;</p>
<p>Social services say that Kerry – a college student – isn’t intelligent enough to bring up her child with Mark. They plan to allow the couple only a few hours with Ben after he is born. Then Ben will be taken from Kerry and Mark, and placed with foster parents.</p>

<p>Here are a couple of young kids in love. They were excited and planning a nice wedding, when all of a sudden, a Big Government drone steps in and through their own &#8220;expertise&#8221; decides they are not fit to be parents because the girl is a little &#8220;slow.&#8221;</p>
<p>Under those guidelines, if adopted in America, would Barack Obama be allowed to keep his kids? I mean this is the guy that thought he had traveled to 57 states on the campaign, and had 1 or 2 to go. Would that make Obama a little &#8220;slow&#8221; in the eyes of the almighty bureaucrat?</p>
<p>Can you imagine?</p>

<p>My point? Allowing the government control over anything can be dangerous, even for the most noble of reasons. It’s why our founders wrote a Constitution that was design to allow the several states and all citizens, great freedoms, while restraining the federal government. In the past 100 years we have seen a rapid shift to the exact opposite, as &#8220;progressives&#8221; both democrat/communists and Republicans have grabbed more control, and wrestled many freedoms from the several states, and the American citizen.</p>

<p>All of these new &#8220;recommendations&#8221; that are suddenly coming down from these faceless panels are the canary in the coal mine for what is to come if we allow Obama and his radical communist agenda to succeed., if we allow ObamaCare to become law.</p>
<p>This is can all be stopped, but you must be willing to put every single ounce of effort you can muster to achieve that goal. We are at war in this nation. Oh, it’s not a shooting war, but it is a war nonetheless. We are war with radical communists who want to &#8220;fundamentally change&#8221; America into something it was never meant to be.</p>
<p>It’s a failed prescription. Communism, socialism, Statism, whatever &#8220;ism&#8221; you want to call this evil, has destroyed nations world wide every time it has been tried. Just because this group of radicals think they are the ones smart enough to make it work doesn’t make it so!</p>
<p>The surest way to lose most, if not all, of your most fundamental freedoms and rights is to allow the Obama regime to continue along this path of certain destruction.</p>
<p>As I write this on an early Friday afternoon, I realize the U.S. Senate is about to vote on a 2000 plus page piece of liberty destroying garbage that absolutely no one has read, or understands.</p>
<p>This multi-trillion dollar affair will raise taxes, destroy our quality of health care, and give the government powers that will, for all practical purposes, void our Constitution, completely usurp it.</p>
<p>Speaking of the Constitution, it only took four sheets of paper to write the most significant and enduring political document in the history all mankind. Our Constitution is the envy of the world, and the absolute blueprint for the freedom of all mankind. Four sheets of paper.</p>
<p>By contrast, the lunacy that is our current radical communist controlled Congress, has produced bills in the House and Senate of a combined total of nearly 4100 pages. Incredible.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Sarah Palin’s Cancer Screening Concerns, Death Panels Alive And Doing Fine In The UK]]></title>

<p>Cancer is a vicious killer, and one that hits home for me, having lost my dad at an early age, and several close friends to the dreaded disease. The good news about cancer though, is through innovation and research, by top scientists, survival rates have soared.</p>
<p>One of the really important developments that have lead directly to more cancer survivors is early detection through screenings. But if the communists in Congress, and Obama have their way, this will come to a grinding halt.</p>
<p>You see, screening costs money. Not only do those tests cost money, but so do the follow up tests as well treatments. Many cancer treatments are highly successful, but highly expensive, as well.</p>
<p>One thing we know, for sure, when the federal government unconstitutionally takes over health care, there will be a finite amount of money to be spent on caring for the sick. To make these dollars stretch, expensive treatments and many tests will have to be stopped, or postponed. Decisions to do this will be made by unelected and unaccountable boards of so-called experts, or as Sarah Palin has labeled them, death panels.</p>
<p>These &#8220;experts&#8221; won’t necessarily all be doctors, but they will be bean counters.</p>
<p>We’re seeing a couple of issues already, and ObamaCare hasn’t even passed. The first is in breast cancer screening. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force has made the recommendation that we no longer do mammograms at age 40. It is their idea that 50 is the proper age to start, and those self exams? Forget about ‘em!</p>
<p>From <a href="http://breastcancer.about.com/b/2009/11/16/mammo-guidelines.htm">Breast Cancer.com</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>The standard schedule of starting screening mammograms at age 40 may soon change, and breast cancer prevention strategies would be improved, according to the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force. Women may not begin to have screening mammograms until they are 50, and they may cease doing breast self-exams altogether, if the newest guidelines for breast cancer screening from the USPSTF are widely adopted. In Canada and the United Kingdom, 50 is already the age at which screening mammography is begun. These new guidelines may have an impact on what health insurance providers will pay for.</p>
<p>The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has updated its recommendations for breast cancer screening. After using computer simulation models to project the results of different screening strategies, the task force said that they recommend the changes because they want to cut down on the &#8220;harms&#8221; and risks of testing, which they believe do not outweigh the benefits. They cite too many false positives, unnecessary biopsies, anxiety, or in short, overdiagnosis. Their November 2009 guidelines suggest:</p>
<p>* Women between 40 and 49 years old should not be having routine screening mammograms. Instead, they say that women should make an informed decision about screening mammography before 50, and weigh their potential risks and benefits with their doctors.</p>
<p>* Women who are 50 to 74 years old should be having a screening mammogram every other year, because the risk for breast cancer increases as you age.</p>
<p>* Women over 74 years old are not given specific guidelines about routine screening mammography &#8211; as their risk of death from heart disease and other ailments is greater than from breast cancer.</p>
<p>* Women of any age should not be taught to do breast self-exams, but BSE is not forbidden.</p>
<p>* Clinical breast exams will not be required before screening mammograms, because CBE appears to add no benefit to the information gained from a mammogram.</p>
<p>In 2002, the USPSTF guidelines for breast cancer screening stated that women 40 and older should have annual mammograms to screen for breast cancer. The American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute have also agreed on screening mammograms for women ages 40 to 70. The The American Cancer Society will maintain their recommendation to start screening mammograms at age 40.</p>
<p>Mammography is not a perfect tool and neither is a breast self-exam. But it seems odd to take away these two tools, which we have been told are important, for women aged 40 &#8211; 49. This same battle has been fought before, in the mid-1990s. It was resolved by 1997, when the National Cancer Institute agreed to support mammograms for women in their forties.</p>
<p>In an editorial published in Annals of Internal Medicine, Dr. Karla Kerlikowske says that the focus should shift from screening and early detection to breast cancer prevention interventions. But for this to be effective, Dr. Kerlikowske says that we need a better risk model, more research on prevention, and standards &#8220;for routinely assessing risk factors, calculating breast cancer risk, and reporting risk to women and providers in an easily understandable format.&#8221; Couldn&#8217;t we wait, until more research has been done, before we change screening guidelines? Won&#8217;t women be more at risk for ten years of their lives, if they are not having a mammogram and doing their self-exams?</p>

<p>This sentence hit me like a ton of bricks, just because of the wording:</p>

<p>Are you kidding me? &#8220;BSE&#8221; stands for breast self examination. And this government death panel is telling women they shouldn’t learn how to do them, but are not &#8220;forbidden&#8221; from learning how and doing them. How generous of them.</p>
<p>That one word, &#8220;forbidden,&#8221; when talking about what one can and cannot do with their own body, in the privacy of their own home, tells you all you need to know about the entire process that is coming down the pike, and the mentality of those who will sit in judgement on these death panels.</p>
<p>You will notice too, that in making this recommendation, this death panel references the UK and Canada as their model of inspiration. Two counties that have such great health care, because of government control, that those who can, leave the country for treatment of anything more complex than a head cold.</p>
<p>From Deroy Murdock at <a href="http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NjhmOGU0MDdhM2Y5YmEyMzVmNjZhZWZiMTA3ZTQyOTA=">National Review Online</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Compare America’s system with Canada’s and Great Britain’s. The latter are single-payer, universal health-care programs in which medical treatment is free at the point of service (Yay!), although citizens eventually pay for it through higher taxes (Boo!).</p>
<p>According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development data, there were 26.6 MRI machines in the U.S. per million people in 2004. In Canada, there were 4.9 such devices, while Britain enjoyed 5. For every 100,000 Americans, 2006 saw 436.8 receive angioplasties. Among Canadians, that figure was 135.9, while only 93.2 Britons per 100,000 got that cardiac procedure.</p>
<p>Maybe that’s why, among American men, heart-attack deaths in 2004 stood at 53.8 per 100,000. In Canada, 58.3 men per 100,000 died of cardiac arrest, while coronaries buried 69.5 of every 100,000 British males.</p>
<p>The fatality rate for breast cancer, according to the National Center for Policy Analysis and Lancet Oncology, is 25 percent in the U.S., 28 percent in Canada, and 46 percent in Great Britain.</p>
<p>Among those diagnosed with prostate cancer, 19 percent die of the disease in America. In Canada, 25 percent of such patients succumb to this disease. And in Great Britain — an Anglophone NATO member and America’s closest ally — prostate cancer kills 57 percent of those who contract it. That is triple the American fatality rate.</p></blockquote>

<p>Notice, there is a serious lack of medical equipment in Canada and the UK, specifically, MRI machines and CT scanners, equipment that American hospitals use extensively on a daily basis to save lives.</p>
<p>You will also notice that breast cancer is slightly more likely to kill you in Canada, and probably will kill you in jolly old England. And if you are a guy, you really don’t want to live in either Canada or the UK. In the UK prostate cancer is death sentence for most.</p>

<p>Today at 1:10am</p>
<p>It was a breath of fresh air to finally hear the Democrats admit to their health care bill as &#8220;a lot of show and tell and razzmatazz,&#8221; (see Democrat talking points, in reference to my book). At least now we’re all on the same page when discussing the problems with their monstrous government health care &#8220;reform&#8221; plan.</p>
<p>Now, tonight, more disconcerting news – the New York Times reports of new guidelines to scale back cervical cancer screenings. The recommendation from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists comes on the heels of another recommendation to limit breast cancer screenings with mammograms. There are many questions unanswered for me, but one which immediately comes to mind is whether costs have anything to do with these recommendations. The current health care debate elicits great concern because of its introduction of socialized medicine in America and the inevitable rationed care. We need to carefully watch this debate as it coincides with Capitol Hill’s debate and determine whether we are witnessing the early stages of that rationed care before the Senate bill is rushed through as well.</p>
<p>Another question is why these women-focused cancers are seemingly receiving substandard attention at a time when proactive health and fitness should be the message. Every woman should encourage rigorous debate to ensure that our collective voices are heard. We are paying attention to Washington’s health care proposals, and we want to hear what helps patients the most.</p>
<p>We need answers: Is early screening not saving lives? Why do doctors’ groups disagree? Did costs play any role in these decisions to change the recommendations on breast and cervical cancer screenings? We need assurances that everything we’ve heard this week about fewer tests for women’s cancers is a result of patient-focused research and providing the best care for the right reasons, and not because of bureaucratic pressure to control costs.</p>
<p>Obviously the first thought that comes to mind when hearing of these new recommendations from bureaucratic panels is &#8220;rationed care.&#8221; It’s fair – and healthy – to ask if that’s what Washington has in mind with a government-controlled takeover of a health care system.</p>

<p>The rationing of health care is the only way ObamaCare will work. Again, there will be a finite amount of money budgeted to the nation’s health care. Our &#8220;benevolent leaders&#8221; will &#8220;generously allow&#8221; only a certain amount of the money they confiscate from us to actually be used to keep us in good health.</p>
<p>I mean, look, some of this money is desperately needed for more important projects, like keeping ACORN and SEIU in the &#8220;community organizing&#8221; business. How else will the</p>
<p>democrat/communists keep the glorious people’s revolution alive?</p>
<p>I promised you more still on death panels. (Like this ain’t enough!) Here’s an alarming report from the<a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8367614.stm"> BBC</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Liver cancer drug &#8216;too expensive&#8217;</p>
<p>A drug that can prolong the lives of patients with advanced liver cancer has been rejected for use in the NHS in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.</p>
<p>The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said the cost of Nexavar &#8211; about £3,000 a month &#8211; was &#8220;simply too high&#8221;.</p>
<p>But Macmillan Cancer Support said the decision was &#8220;a scandal&#8221;.</p>
<p>More than 3,000 people are diagnosed with liver cancer every year in the UK and their prognosis is generally poor.</p>
<p>Only about 20% of patients are alive one year after diagnosis, dropping to just 5% after five years.</p>
<p>&#8216;Disappointed&#8217;</p>
<p>Campaigner Kate Spall, who won the right to have two months of treatment for her mother, Pamela Northcott, in 2007, said it had prolonged her life by four-and-a-half &#8220;precious&#8221; months.</p>
<p>It had allowed her 58-year-old mother, from Dyserth in Denbighshire, &#8220;closure&#8221; and &#8220;peace&#8221;, she told BBC Radio 4&#8217;s Today programme.</p>
<p>&#8220;The problem in Mum&#8217;s case is it took a year for me to fight for the treatment, so we&#8217;ll never know how well she could have done,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>Prof Jonathan Waxman: &#8220;I&#8217;m very unhappy about the way these decisions are made&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We had extra time, which was very precious to us all, her symptoms were helped greatly. And, more importantly, for Mum it was a case of getting some closure and peace.</p>
<p>&#8220;The psychological feeling when a group of people decide that you cannot have a treatment that can help you is really devastating.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cancer Research UK&#8217;s chief clinician Peter Johnson said the decision was &#8220;enormously frustrating&#8221; because there was no doubt about the drug&#8217;s effectiveness.</p>
<p>He said: &#8220;There&#8217;s no alternative treatment and there are no other places for people to go. It is expensive, but the only issue is cost and the number of patients affected are quite few &#8211; there&#8217;s probably only six or seven hundred patients a year.&#8221;</p>
<p>Nexavar &#8211; also known as sorafenib &#8211; had already been rejected in Scotland, despite studies showing it could extend the life of a liver cancer patient by up to six months.</p>
<p>&#8216;Devastating disease&#8217;</p>
<p>The Scottish Medicines Consortium ruled that &#8220;the manufacturer&#8217;s justification of the treatment&#8217;s cost in relation to its benefit was not sufficient to gain acceptance&#8221;.</p>
<p>Andrew Dillon, chief executive of NICE, agreed: &#8220;The price being asked by [the manufacturer] Bayer is simply too high to justify using NHS money which could be spent on better value cancer treatments.&#8221;</p>
<p>And the group&#8217;s clinical and public health director, Peter Littlejohns, added the drug was considered &#8220;just too expensive&#8221; by its advisory committees.</p>
<p>Nexavar is routinely offered to cancer patients elsewhere in the world, and Mike Hobday, head of campaigns at Macmillan Cancer Support, said he was &#8220;extremely disappointed&#8221; at NICE&#8217;s decision.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is a scandal that the only licensed drug proven to significantly prolong the lives of people with this devastating disease has been rejected, leaving them with no treatment options,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Alison Rogers, chief executive of the British Liver Trust, said: &#8220;The decision to reject a treatment for advanced liver cancer is a huge blow for patients.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is a treatment to extend life for people where all other options have run out.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is particularly hard for people with liver cancer given that treatments for many other advanced cancers have been given the green light by NICE.</p>
<p>&#8220;People with liver disease often face stigma and discrimination and sadly this decision feels like a further disadvantage to them.&#8221;</p>
<p>Earlier this year, a government review of end-of-life treatment said NICE should give extra weight to drugs that could extend a patient&#8217;s life.</p>
<p>The Department of Health said NICE was not ignoring that recommendation, but the NHS could not just pay for any drug at any cost.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The UK is a very totalitarian system when it comes to patient care. The system also strips it’s citizens of many basic liberties and freedoms we take for granted in America.<a href="http://thespeechatimeforchoosing.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/worried-about-death-panels-how-about-marriage-panels/"> As I wrote in an earlier piece</a>, not only do they have death panels in the UK, these government monstrosities have evolved into what I am calling &#8220;lifestyle panels.&#8221;</p>
<p>I had included this from the <a href="http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/4160">Brussels Journal</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Kerry Robertson, 17, and Mark McDougall, 25, haven’t broken any law. But they are on the run from the authorities, and from their home in Dunfermline, Scotland.</p>
<p>Less than eight weeks ago the couple were excitedly planning their wedding. They had booked church ceremony for the 5th of September, a Saturday. She had already chosen and bought her wedding dress. They had bought the rings, and invited 20 guests. Two days before the big day, however, social services told them that their wedding would have to be cancelled. Fife Council wrote a letter, objecting to the marriage, to Dunfermline Register Office, who consequently refused to marry the couple.</p>
<p>Social services claim Kerry cannot understand what marriage means, because she has learning difficulties. They are mild, it seems. She is able to read and write, and is going to college to &#8220;catch up.&#8221; Her partner Mark told the Daily Mail: &#8220;&#8216;I didn&#8217;t even know she had learning difficulties until we&#8217;d been dating for two months.&#8221;</p>
<p>Kerry is 29 weeks pregnant – with a boy they have named Ben. &#8220;Although Ben isn&#8217;t born yet,&#8221; Kerry says, &#8220;I already love my baby and know I will be a good mum. Mark and I talk to him inside me every day and tell him we love him. We&#8217;ve already bought him clothes and my cousin, who recently had a baby, has handed down a beautiful crib for him.&#8221;</p>
<p>Social services say that Kerry – a college student – isn’t intelligent enough to bring up her child with Mark. They plan to allow the couple only a few hours with Ben after he is born. Then Ben will be taken from Kerry and Mark, and placed with foster parents.</p>

<p>Here are a couple of young kids in love. They were excited and planning a nice wedding, when all of a sudden, a Big Government drone steps in and through their own &#8220;expertise&#8221; decides they are not fit to be parents because the girl is a little &#8220;slow.&#8221;</p>
<p>Under those guidelines, if adopted in America, would Barack Obama be allowed to keep his kids? I mean this is the guy that thought he had traveled to 57 states on the campaign, and had 1 or 2 to go. Would that make Obama a little &#8220;slow&#8221; in the eyes of the almighty bureaucrat?</p>
<p>Can you imagine?</p>

<p>My point? Allowing the government control over anything can be dangerous, even for the most noble of reasons. It’s why our founders wrote a Constitution that was design to allow the several states and all citizens, great freedoms, while restraining the federal government. In the past 100 years we have seen a rapid shift to the exact opposite, as &#8220;progressives&#8221; both democrat/communists and Republicans have grabbed more control, and wrestled many freedoms from the several states, and the American citizen.</p>

It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children&#8217;s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.</p>

<p>All of these new &#8220;recommendations&#8221; that are suddenly coming down from these faceless panels are the canary in the coal mine for what is to come if we allow Obama and his radical communist agenda to succeed., if we allow ObamaCare to become law.</p>
<p>This is can all be stopped, but you must be willing to put every single ounce of effort you can muster to achieve that goal. We are at war in this nation. Oh, it’s not a shooting war, but it is a war nonetheless. We are war with radical communists who want to &#8220;fundamentally change&#8221; America into something it was never meant to be.</p>
<p>It’s a failed prescription. Communism, socialism, Statism, whatever &#8220;ism&#8221; you want to call this evil, has destroyed nations world wide every time it has been tried. Just because this group of radicals think they are the ones smart enough to make it work doesn’t make it so!</p>
<p>The surest way to lose most, if not all, of your most fundamental freedoms and rights is to allow the Obama regime to continue along this path of certain destruction.</p>
<p>As I write this on an early Friday afternoon, I realize the U.S. Senate is about to vote on a 2000 plus page piece of liberty destroying garbage that absolutely no one has read, or understands.</p>
<p>This multi-trillion dollar affair will raise taxes, destroy our quality of health care, and give the government powers that will, for all practical purposes, void our Constitution, completely usurp it.</p>
<p>Speaking of the Constitution, it only took four sheets of paper to write the most significant and enduring political document in the history all mankind. Our Constitution is the envy of the world, and the absolute blueprint for the freedom of all mankind. Four sheets of paper.</p>
<p>By contrast, the lunacy that is our current radical communist controlled Congress, has produced bills in the House and Senate of a combined total of nearly 4100 pages. Incredible.</p>

<p>The new<a href="http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf"> 2000 page PelosiCare fiasco </a>takes 22 pages to set up the structure for these &#8220;death panels.&#8221; (Pages 739-760) The &#8220;Comparative Effectiveness Panels&#8221; will be made up of doctors, bureaucrats, and experts on &#8220;health economics.&#8221;</p>
<p>It doesn’t explicitly give government the power to dictate treatments. In fact, it does explicitly say that federal officers cannot dictate them, but findings by this panel will be used as baselines for payment by insurers, including the federal government, when it comes to deciding what options for treatment are available to whom. After all, comparative effectiveness is explicitly a rationing process.</p>
<p>Rationing, by definition, will lead to certain people who are deemed &#8220;past their usefulness to society&#8221; being denied life saving health care. Those coming up with the criteria for this are indeed &#8220;death panels.&#8221;</p>

Mark and I talk to him inside me every day and tell him we love him. They were excited and planning a nice wedding, when all of a sudden, a Big Government drone steps in and through their own &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">expertise</span>&#8221; decides they are not fit to be parents because the girl is a little &#8220;slow.&#8221;</p>
<p>Under those guidelines, if adopted in America, would Barack Obama be allowed to keep his kids? I mean this is the guy that thought he had traveled to 57 states on the campaign, and had 1 or 2 to go. Would that make Obama a little &#8220;slow&#8221; in the eyes of the almighty bureaucrat?</p>
<p>Can you imagine?</p>

<p>With that being said, just how &#8220;slow&#8221; could Kerry be if she managed to get herself in college?</p>
<p>Now I know, you are saying: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">This is America, it can’t happen here</span>.&#8221; Uh huh, we were saying the same thing about ObamaCare and PelosiCare just a day ago!</p>
<p>The same people who are bringing you &#8220;death panels&#8221; here in America, and who knows what else are EXACTLY the people who will tell you who to marry and whether or not you will be allowed to keep your child.</p>
<p>Remember, Obama’s &#8220;Science Czar,&#8221; John Holdren, thinks our Constitution gives the government the right to force you to have an abortion! Margaret Sanger is probably looking up from her Klu Klux Klan or Planned Parenthood meeting in hell, with great approval.</p>
<p>These people who will bring you &#8220;death panels&#8221; are the same people who have forced trans fats out of restaurants &#8220;for our own good.&#8221; These purveyors of tyranny are the ones who have forced people to stop smoking cigarettes, a legal product, almost everywhere, including in some cases, their own homes.</p>
<p>These nanny staters who will run you &#8220;health care&#8221; are the people who are trying to tax soda water and other soft drinks and juices in order to get you to &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">modify your habits</span>,&#8221; you know, &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">for your own good</span>.&#8221; They also want to tax fast food, and even regulate where these eatin’ joints are allowed, again, for your own good, because well, you didn’t go to Harvard, and you are obviously too &#8220;slow.&#8221; to get it!</p>
<p>Wait a minute, didn’t our &#8220;president&#8221; go to Harvard? Not a ringing endorsement for higher education, is it?</p>
<p>As Thomas Jefferson once said: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">Any government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take away everything you have</span>.&#8221; That includes all of your liberties and freedoms. You know, like the freedom to get married and have a baby.</p>
<p>One should also reflect long and hard these words by Benjamin Franklin: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">Those who would sacrifice their freedom for temporary security deserve neither</span>.&#8221;</p>

Are you going to allow this government to pass this unconstitutional monstrosity known as Obama/Pelosi care, and lose every single ounce of your liberty and freedom, or are you going to fight these maniacal communists with your dying breath to retain your freedom and liberty, and the liberty of all of the future generations to follow?</p>

<p>This story isn’t something that happened in Hitler’s Nazi Germany or Chairman Mao’s Red China, this is happening right now in Scotland, a supposed free nation.</p>
<p>These aren’t mentally defective kids. The girl, Kerry, is in college for goodness sake!</p>
<p>Now I realize having a college &#8220;education&#8221; doesn’t equal smart, and certainly doesn’t guarantee common sense or ability, I mean look at the Ivy League buffoons who we have in charge of things now. Educated well above their intelligence, that’s for damned sure!</p>
<p>With that being said, just how &#8220;slow&#8221; could Kerry be if she managed to get herself in college?</p>
<p>Now I know, you are saying: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">This is America, it can’t happen here</span>.&#8221; Uh huh, we were saying the same thing about ObamaCare and PelosiCare just a day ago!</p>
<p>The same people who are bringing you &#8220;death panels&#8221; here in America, and who knows what else are EXACTLY the people who will tell you who to marry and whether or not you will be allowed to keep your child.</p>
<p>Remember, Obama’s &#8220;Science Czar,&#8221; John Holdren, thinks our Constitution gives the government the right to force you to have an abortion! Margaret Sanger is probably looking up from her Klu Klux Klan or Planned Parenthood meeting in hell, with great approval.</p>
<p>These people who will bring you &#8220;death panels&#8221; are the same people who have forced trans fats out of restaurants &#8220;for our own good.&#8221; These purveyors of tyranny are the ones who have forced people to stop smoking cigarettes, a legal product, almost everywhere, including in some cases, their own homes.</p>
<p>These nanny staters who will run you &#8220;health care&#8221; are the people who are trying to tax soda water and other soft drinks and juices in order to get you to &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">modify your habits</span>,&#8221; you know, &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">for your own good</span>.&#8221; They also want to tax fast food, and even regulate where these eatin’ joints are allowed, again, for your own good, because well, you didn’t go to Harvard, and you are obviously too &#8220;slow.&#8221; to get it!</p>
<p>Wait a minute, didn’t our &#8220;president&#8221; go to Harvard? Not a ringing endorsement for higher education, is it?</p>
<p>As Thomas Jefferson once said: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">Any government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take away everything you have</span>.&#8221; That includes all of your liberties and freedoms. You know, like the freedom to get married and have a baby.</p>
<p>One should also reflect long and hard these words by Benjamin Franklin: &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">Those who would sacrifice their freedom for temporary security deserve neither</span>.&#8221;</p>
<p>You have a choice to make, right here, right now. Are you going to allow this government to pass this unconstitutional monstrosity known as Obama/Pelosi care, and lose every single ounce of your liberty and freedom, or are you going to fight these maniacal communists with your dying breath to retain your freedom and liberty, and the liberty of all of the future generations to follow?</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>One hundred and thirteen times this season that call has rung out at the end of a ball game, echoing throughout the Bronx and across the CBS-radio network carrying the Yankee games.</p>
<p>The evil empire struck back.  They won their 40th pennant, their 27th title and in the process tied or set any number of records as individuals, as a team and in the process set another impossibly high standard for an already high bar of both love, and hate.</p>
<p>There will be 423.5 million reasons for people to say they bought the series and don&#8217;t deserve the title because they play on a different playing field.  Sure, it is a lot of money.  Money, as Yankee fans already well know, does not ensure success, it is only one contributing factor.  All those pieces need to perform well as individuals and come together as a team, stay healthy and focused on the task-at-hand.  They need the drive and desire as well as the paycheck to succeed and the guidance to get there.  In that, they are no different than any other team.</p>
<p>Perhaps money provides them an advantage in other respects then, as it buys top trainers, a fantastic ballpark and the luxuries some teams can only dream about.  But, it was available because the Yankees for years have been investing in the team and not just in lining Mr. Steinbrenner and company&#8217;s pockets.  The Boss wants to win and he does everything in his power as a boss to ensure that happens.  That, is the priority.  Not to collect a paycheck, but to collect trophies.  To make New York fans proud.  To give back to the community that support them by always putting together a team deserving of their rabid dedication and never having a fan wearing pinstripes be called fairweather by upholding the tradition of consistency in winning. </p>
<p>So, those big free agents that were bought to win the prize&#8230; are they mercenaries?  Are they just there for one purpose &#8211; #27?  Judging by the way their extravagant contracts are structured, the answer is, no.  They are long term building blocks to the continued success of the team.  These guys were not brought in this year (or any year) to win for that year&#8230; they were brought in to ensure the franchise remains the dominant beast that won those 39 previous pennants and those 26 previous titles.  This isn&#8217;t just about #27 in the money spent, it is about #28, #29, #30 and so on for many of these long contracts:</p>
<p>AJ Burnett &#8211; 5 year contact<br />
Johnny Damon &#8211; 4 year contact (extension in negotiation)<br />
Damaso Marte &#8211; 4 year contact (+ his trade year to the yanks)<br />
Hideki Matsui &#8211; 6 year contact (NYY only US team)<br />
Alex Rodriguez &#8211; 10 year contract (+1 trade year &#38; 3 remaining on his old contract)<br />
CC Sabathia &#8211; 7 year contract<br />
Mark Tiexeria &#8211; 8 year contract</p>
<p>Yes, those outside names command a high salary, but, if the Yankees hadn&#8217;t paid them those contracts, someone else would have.  It just happens the Yankees did.  Before A-rod became a Yankee, Texas over-paid for him&#8230; and Damon wasn&#8217;t exactly cheap when he became a BoSox&#8230; nor was Burnett as a Jay.  The Yankees just paid what the market was commanding.  They were fortunate enough to put them all together into a winning team.</p>
<p>They also lavish their own homegrown with those big contracts encouraging talent to stay and building a team from the inside out rather than allowing them to test the waters of free agency.  Sure, they might command more from another team, but they&#8217;re rarely interested because they know they&#8217;ll be taken care of from within as long as they are getting the job done&#8230; several of the core players are home grown investments that will end, or come very close to ending their career in pinstripes.  There can be no denying that the best of the best stay with the Yankees, unlike other teams who&#8217;s top talent traipses off at the first sign of dollar signs, from teams who do not appreciate having franchise players as much as they claim they cannot afford them.  How many teams have as many guys who spent at least a decade with them currently on the roster?  </p>

<p>And, on that note, there is as much home grown and developed talent as on any team in the majors and several of them performing at the highest level coming through an established farm system designed to help create winners.  It is a stunning list of super stars and prospects that make up the actual core of the current Yankees, moreso than that of their cross town rivals the Mets or the arch nemesis BoSox or even the defeated Phils&#8230; and several of them are set up to stay with the team for years to come.  Just check out some of these key components in this year&#8217;s success who are from the Yankee system:</p>

<p>As well as callups like Ian Kennedy, Shelly Duncan, Juan Miranda and Ramero Pena plus Chin Ming Wang who ended up being injured the majority of the season unfortunately.  Who knows what will be offered to this entire group depending on how they contribute in their current contracts &#8211; considering the Yankees already refused several times to trade Hughes, Chamberlain, Cabera and Cervelli.  </p>
<p>Yeah, there were these pieces of the puzzle too who were pieces of the puzzle this year and probably fall somewhere into the mercenary concept but at a significantly different cost ratio to what most trades and 1-year deals come at teams trying to sample the post-season: Chad Gaudin, Freddy Guzmán, Eric Hinske, Jerry Harriston Jr, Sergio Mitre, Jose Molina, Nick Swisher&#8230;. However, when you count up the team as a whole and how all but Molina &#38; Swisher fit into it overall it is easy to see the difference between buying #27 (as compared to some other teams who bought championships) and what the Yankees are really doing.  </p>
<p>So, with a little arithmetic, the Yankees fielded 13 regular players during the season and post-season they developed, including 5 with significant investment in the franchise.  They bought an additional 9 regulars, of which 7 were under &#8220;long term&#8221; contracts.  The balance of the players were call-ups or guys rotated in-and-out of the 25-man roster for any number of reasons.  </p>
<p>The cost of the contracts might seem out-of-sorts but it is not quite the type of build one might expect for a team bought to win a series.  They are a collection of big names because the Yankees are a big name, they are a who&#8217;s who because roughly as many of core starters are high paid and developed in the system as were purchased on the open market and because roughly double the number of Yankee products took the field as those imported.  </p>
<p>The Bankees they might be, but they are still bleeding pinstripes moreso than most teams could hope to instill in a franchise mentality in one, or maybe, two guys a decade.  Forget about the core-four that represent the last dynasty bleeding into the next.</p>
<p>Say all you want you want to spread the wealth all you want and share with every city the sanctity of a WS victory.  Well, it&#8217;s not like flattening out salaries and steamrolling the free agency system really spread the wealth in football (Patriots dynasty) or hockey (Red Wings dynasty), nor has it done anything to reign in lavish contracts (there&#8217;s no way to even begin the ridiculous examples), or bring together any type of labor peace (NHL) or ownership responsibility, (Redskins, Raiders, Coyotes).  Just earn it.  On the terms that every team in every league is earning it on.  It took 9 years for the Yankees to do it again.  Granted, all but one year in that time, they made the playoffs, even though twice they reached the series again in that stretch, although they lost.   Yes, the last decade belongs to the Yankees, as did the previous as well, and with the way the team continues to be built by blending youth and experience, home grown and dedicated free agents the next could be as well.  We&#8217;ll find out, one game at a time, same as always.</p>
<p>Till then, thank you Phillies for making this a great series and for doing something no NL team has done in well over a decade (look like a mini-dynasty yourselves!)&#8230; perhaps we&#8217;ll meet again next season but for now&#8230; CONGRATS NYY &#8211; #27!</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">The Philadelphia Phillies tried to attain the very difficult feat of becoming back-to-back World Series Champions. But this year&#8217;s Phillies team was not as good of a team as they were last year&#8230; partially because Brad Lidge went from best to worst and Cole Hamels was not the dominating force he was last year. Pedro Martinez, who had a surprisingly effective short season, was once again made a loser by the New York Yankees. The World Champion New York Yankees!</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">One man specifically dominated by driving in six runs and closing the door last night. Every Japanese place in the tri-state area should be offering Matsushi today. Hideki Matsui had a .615 average in the series as he made a pretty good case for the DH. <a href="http://splog.nationallampoon.com/files/2009/11/godzilla.jpg"><img class="alignright" title="godzilla" src="http://splog.nationallampoon.com/files/2009/11/godzilla-300x200.jpg" alt="" /></a></p>
<div class="kk" style="text-align:left;">On a personal note, Matsui is so cute! Partially because he needs a translator and<span id=":2kf" dir="ltr"> I like that quality in a man&#8230; especially in one who closely resembles a statue.</span></div>
<div class="kk" style="text-align:left;">In Game 5, Johnny Damon earned a new contract (likely only one to two years, please) with the Yankees. In Game 6, Matsui earned the elite honor of MVP. Considering he did not play the field this season, Matsui&#8217;s value has come through all year and peaked under the pressure of the big stage. His future is uncertain,  but he is presently a hero, pride of pinstripes.</div>
<p style="text-align:left;">Meanwhile, the media (and by &#8220;the media&#8221;, I mean, ESPN&#8217;s Sportscenter and some other disgruntled sports writers/Yankee Haters) is completely overblowing the A-Rod story within the championship story. It all goes back to steroids, past postseason disappointments and high expectiations. The media plays with if his career is validated now, or something.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Although the attainment of a championship is much more realistic as a New York Yankee than for any other team, there are a slew of highly respected athletes who do not wear rings. A ring is not the only factor of greatness in a career. Even in the Evil Empire, Don Mattingly is without a championship, yet is well-respected. It&#8217;s not like A-Rod<em> had </em>to win a series to validate his career. He is a phenomenal talent and has certainly made every team he is on better.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Speaking of people who make their team better, after forty-one pitches, Mariano Rivera capped off another amazing season with another reliable lights-out performance. Many thought that &#8220;Enter Sandman&#8221; was not played last night. It was. It was just so loud in the New Yankee Stadium that it was difficult to hear Metallica&#8217;s tunes bringing in the man, the legacy&#8230; Mo. <a href="http://splog.nationallampoon.com/files/2009/11/jetermo.jpg"><img class="alignright" title="jetermo" src="http://splog.nationallampoon.com/files/2009/11/jetermo.jpg" alt="" width="241" height="201" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">All was good for other legacies of this Yankee generation. The quadfecta, also known as the core four: Posada, Jeter, Pettitte and Rivera made a statement: Old? Shmold! The geezers were pleasers. Late thirties is the new late twenties, as blue pinstripes are the new champions.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Years of chemistry came together for what was a magical season of come-from-behind wins, shuffled pitching situations and drama. All in a new stadium.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span id=":2jx" dir="ltr">The New York Yankees were the best team in baseball this season and it&#8217;s kinda nice when the best team wins. </span>It is, of course, also nice when the best team gets spoiled in the Superbowl by the underdog New York Giants&#8230; so I&#8217;m sort-of a hypocrite, lying piece of s***. But it&#8217;s cool. Hooray for sports!</p>

<p>All I want to know is why you are letting the Yankees win the World Series.  I mean, for 84 years, us Red Sox fans have proven our love and faith.  And even after 2 wins this decade, breaking the curse of the Bambino, you continue to test us.</p>
<p>When will it be enough?  How much more personal suffering must I endure at the hands of my Yankees-loving roommate so that you can see how devoted Red Sox Nation is?</p>
<p>Sigh.  I suppose you know best, but I would really like to see the fall of the Evil Empire in my lifetime.  Or at least you could break the legs of all the over-priced Yankees players.  That would work, too.</p>

<title><![CDATA[What A Difference A Year Makes]]></title>

<p>Brad Lidge was one strike away from further silencing his demons.  Brad Lidge was one strike away from evening the World Series.  Brad Lidge was one strike away from regaining Philadelphia&#8217;s momentum.  Brad Lidge was one strike away from giving the ball to Cliff Lee.  Brad Lidge was one strike away from possibly winning back to back World Championships.  But we knew this had to happen.  We knew that Lidge&#8217;s struggles couldn&#8217;t instantly evaporate, especially under the pressure of the Fall Classic.  His demons resurged.  Brad Lidge all but gave the Yankees the 2009 World Series.</p>
<p>The Sultan hates using the word &#8220;choke&#8221; in the sports arena.  It is an incredibly harsh word, and complete taboo to athletes of all levels.  Tom Watson once said that, &#8220;those who criticize you for choking have never been in the situation to do so.&#8221;  That&#8217;s a fabulous quote.  A quote that The Sultan keeps close at hand and in the back of his mind whenever critiquing the sports world.  Therefore, he won&#8217;t say Brad Lidge choked.  Brad Lidge collapsed.  He collapsed at the most critical of times.</p>
<p>The first problem came with two outs in the top of the 9th in last night&#8217;s contest.  The Phillies had tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the eighth, along with regaining momentum and hope that seemed lost.  The bases were empty.  Brad Lidge had already retired Hideki Matsui and Derek Jeter to start the inning.  Next to the plate was a red-hot Johnny Damon.  Lidge worked ahead in the count but allowed Damon to battle the count full.  After a nine pitch at-bat, Damon singled to left.  OK.  Nothing lost, but Mark Teixeira was up to bat.  He was only 1 for 14 in the series but still a massive threat.  This is when the Series unraveled.</p>
<p>In order to be a great baseball player, you must know your role on the diamond.  Not just your position or the scouting reports, but you must know what to do in every possible situation imaginable.  This is where Brad Lidge lost the game for Philadelphia.  His infield executed a big shift to the right to guard against the pull-oriented Teixeira.  This left third base open and unmanned.  On the first pitch from the rubber, Johnny Damon bolted for second base in an attempt to enter scoring position.  After a poor throw and a pop up slide from Damon, Lidge kicked the dirt of the mound only to watch as Damon sprinted to a wide open third base.</p>
<p>At first glance, this did not seem like much of a problem.  There were two outs in the inning which negated any chance of a sacrifice.  But after looking deeper, it was clear to see that this was a monumental problem for Philadelphia.  You see, Brad Lidge is a two-pitch pitcher.  His holster features a so-so fastball but a wicked slider; a slider that almost always dives into the dirt.  With a runner on third, Lidge was forced to only throw fastballs.  These fastballs don&#8217;t pack enough heat to get by the quick bats of the Yankees lineup.  Rattled, Lidge tried to pitch inside to Teixeira but ended up beaning him in the spine.  Enter Alex Rodriguez.</p>
<p>Knowing he was probably only going to see straight fastballs, A-Roid dug into the right-handed batters box.  His at-bat ended with a deep double to left center, scoring Damon and moving Teixeira to third.  The lead was gone.  Maybe now Lidge would try to apply damage control and resort back to the slider.  Forget it.  Several fastballs later Jorge Posada drove in Tex and A-Roid before being tagged out at second to end the inning.  The crowd was stunned and silent.  So was The Sultan.</p>
<p>The bottom of the ninth went by swiftly as Mariano Rivera recorded the 39th post season save of his career.  The Sultan was flabbergasted and perturbed.  He still believes the Phillies are the better team in this series and he <strong>knows</strong> that the series should be tied at two.  The team did all they could.  Joe Blanton kept his team in the game with a strong outing against C.C. Sabathia, and Chase Utley continued to be the backbone for the City of Brotherly Love.  Brad Lidge gave it away.  His boneheaded play on the Damon steal sealed the fate for Philadelphia.  It is almost basic common sense for the pitcher to cover an open base on a live play.  Lidge payed no attention to the gap in defense.  The Sultan thinks it&#8217;s because Lidge is still battling himself and his own struggles instead of the New York Yankees.  If Damon stays at second, Lidge can still utilize his deadly slider and more than likely get out of the inning with no damage.  His head was not in the game.  He will more than likely have 4 months to think about blowing another title shot for Philadelphia.  What a difference a year makes.  Last year&#8217;s Brad Lidge dominates the 9th inning.  This year&#8217;s version watches as it trickles down the drain.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the thing: the series is not over.  Cliff Lee will take the hill tonight for the Phils, which gives them an outstanding opportunity to take the series back to Queens.  If Lidge had his head on a swivel instead of his backside, the Fall Classic would head back to New York with the Phillies up 3-2.  Instead it appears as if baseball&#8217;s disgrace, Alex Rodriguez, will receive his first championship.  At the ring ceremony in the spring of 2010, the Evil Empire should bring in Brad Lidge to slip the hardware on the pinstripe&#8217;s fingers.  It would only be fitting.</p>
<p>Because The Sultan thoroughly dislikes the Yankees, he would love to say that the Phils will come back to win in seven games.  But he&#8217;ll speak with his head and not his heart.  The Sultan sees this game going to 7 games, but with the Empire squeaking it out.  Cliff Lee will beat A.J. Burnett tonight and Pedro Martinez will rekindle his dominance and fire to beat New York in Game 6.  Cole Hamels will continue his struggles on the road in Game 7, however.  And who knows, Brad Lidge might get another opportunity to help raise New York&#8217;s 2009 Championship banner.  The least you can do is pay attention to your role and duty, Brad.  You have upset The Sultan.</p>

<title><![CDATA[And We're (Finally) Off]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[It&#8217;s that time again for the pinnacle of the spring/summer/fall marathon we call Major League ]]></description>

<p>It&#8217;s that time again for the pinnacle of the spring/summer/fall marathon we call Major League Baseball.  If you love the cowhide and the sweet green grass, this is the best time of the year.  The Sultan loves America&#8217;s pastime; whole-heartedly.  As a young Sultan he pulled up the stirrups, pounded the leather, spit the seeds, painted the eye-black and chattered with the best of the other little leaguers.  He would mimic the great swings and rituals of the day.  He cut out magazine pictures of his heroes (who were all clean, but that topic has already been discussed) and tack them up to his bedroom wall.  The young Sultan would stay glued to the television during the MLB postseason and watch in complete excitement.  The Sultan&#8217;s roots are deep in this game, being a lifelong disciple of the baseball gospel.  But the media&#8217;s involvement of the past decade has almost ruined what the Fall Classic is all about.</p>
<p>First of all, The Sultan believes there is absolutely NO reason to have 6 hour pre-game shows before the contest, followed by all sorts of news and analysis afterward.  This doesn&#8217;t only apply to baseball, but for every major professional sport.  Don&#8217;t bother in obtaining any news from other sports during playoff time.  All 38 ESPN channels will cover every single aspect of every player, every play or possession, every manager, every team, and every possible scenario from the dawn of the playoffs until its midnight hour.</p>
<p>Merriam-Webster&#8217;s dictionary defines overkill as, &#8220;an excess of something beyond what is required or suitable for a particular purpose.&#8221;  The playoffs in professional sports are no longer dramatic because we run them into the ground until we&#8217;re blue in the face.  Let The Sultan clarify that he is aware there are thousands and thousands of people who enjoy the overload of information.  That&#8217;s what keeps ESPN and their measly competitors in business.  The Sultan, however, likes to use his own mind, thoughts, imagination and speculation when it comes to most things, especially sports.  In other words, he likes to use his BRAIN instead of the mush created by the loads of former ballplayers now serving as analysts.</p>
<p>Try this food for thought: the first round of the NBA playoffs this year lasted 2 and 1/2 weeks.  That&#8217;s longer than the Olympic games.  The Super Bowl is now played in February, after an off-week.  What happened to the New Year, College bowl games, and then the Super Bowl shortly after?  Reggie Jackson was known as Mr. October because of his epic performances in the MLB postseason, especially the World Series, when it finished in <em>October</em>.</p>
<p>Baseball is an everyday game.  That&#8217;s why they play 162 games during the regular season with off-days sprinkled in few and far between.  How come the whole persona of the game changes once there are only 8 teams remaining?  They should be rewarded for making the postseason, but not to this extent.  Gone are the true roots of the game.  The roots that cause managers to sweat bullets over their playoff rosters and pitching rotations.  Pull their hair out about injuries and fatigue.  What happened to 5-man rotations?  Or crucial middle relief pitchers?  They are a thing of a past thanks to the snail&#8217;s pace at which the postseason race concludes.  Take this year&#8217;s Evil Empire for example.  They will use only a 3-man rotation throughout the entire playoff stretch.  These guys are so well rested they could practically throw 200 pitches per game.</p>
<p>True fans of the game don&#8217;t want to see this.  The teeter-totter, bug-eyed, celebrity obsessed fans love it.  That&#8217;s what irks The Sultan.  He wants to see the shaky bullpen of the Yankees.  He wants to see if Brad Lidge can be as strong as last season, or if he will explode like the rough outings of 2009.  The Sultan wants to see the role players make a break the series from their impact off of the bench.  Instead, the starting pitchers of both teams are throwing deep into pressure-packed ballgames thanks to their mini offseason.  After the tremendous wear and tear of the regular season, starting pitchers are given an early Christmas present with the copious amounts of rest.  Of course they&#8217;re going to be strong after 5-7 days off.  It doesn&#8217;t make sense that they are in their best physical condition at season&#8217;s end after over 170 games.  Because the &#8220;need&#8221; for extensive analysis and coverage, we will never see the true endurance test that use to be the MLB season.  These strong performances aren&#8217;t based on sheer will, determination, and heart.  They are based off of an unfair amount of rest; rest that benefits pitchers 100 times more than the batters they face.</p>
<p>Play more double headers during the summer.  It will help to shorten an already extensive season, and give a throwback type of joy to the fans.  Limit the breaks between series, including days off <em>during</em> the series (not travel days, but the days during home stretches), and we will be able to enjoy the postseason the way it&#8217;s written in the history books.  Who cares what Steve Phillips, Buster Olney, or Tim Kurkjian have to say.  Who wants to hear a manager&#8217;s full coverage press conference dripping with worn out cliche&#8217;s?  The Sultan doesn&#8217;t, and neither should you.  True champions don&#8217;t win with 3-man rotations, a closer, a designated hitter, and 8 position players.  They win with the entire roster.  You must work to be a champion.  There are no days off on the road to glory.  Hey Bud, bring baseball back to the way it should be.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>It&#8217;s a giant mask of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, cast in pure copper.  It&#8217;s about 30&#8243; tall, and weighs about 45 lbs.  It came from a major government building in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, probably an important one considering the size,  and would have been on prominent display, but unfortunately, I don&#8217;t know which one.  I hope to someday find a picture of it somewhere.</p>

<p>In 1991, as the USSR was disintegrating before our eyes, the people inside found themselves suddenly less enamored of their formerly mandatory heros/leaders/overlords, like Stalin, and Lenin.  That goes double for the people who were never Russian to begin with, like Lithuanians.  You apply decades of brutal oppression to tenderize, then stuff your populace to the gills with propaganda about your awesome hero/leader/tyrant like a goose on a pate farm.  Marinate in resentment, then toss &#8216;em in a power vacuum as the despotic government collapses, bring to a gentle boil, and BAM!  Some crazy shit happens.</p>
<p>One of the first things people do is start tearing down monuments to the motherfuckers who oppressed them.  Not just because &#8220;Hey, fuck those guys&#8221;, but also because  they&#8217;re not getting paid anymore, and scrap metal is worth pretty decent money, His Copperness is no exception.  Most of the things this size would have been more likely to have been scrapped.  Fortunately, this little baby made its way into my hands instead.  It cost me almost $500, but I think it was worth it, as a semi-unique, certainly unusual piece of history.  It&#8217;s a symbol of the The Evil Empire&#8217;s defeat.  It&#8217;s half history, half war trophy.  Communism went broke, Capitalism swept in, bought the joint for pennies on the dollar, kept what they wanted, and sold the shit that goes bang to third world countries who spent the next 20 years killing each other with it.  It&#8217;s a good thing I don&#8217;t have room in my garage for a fighter jet.  Don&#8217;t think I haven&#8217;t had my eye on that 1/4 scale remote control B-25 Bomber that&#8217;s been on Craigslist for 6 months though.</p>
<p>I was in my last year of high school when the USSR collapsed.  I followed the news closely, but I didn&#8217;t really have the same appreciation for what was really going on as I do now.  I grew up in the Reagan Years, the Evil Empire, Star Wars, &#8220;Whatevah!  I&#8217;ll kill us all!  I&#8217;ll do what I want!&#8221; days.  It wasn&#8217;t quite Cuban Missile Crisis kinda paranoia, but they were definitely The Bad Guys.  So, when shit started going down, my feelings were basically &#8220;America, Fuck Yeah!  We win!  Suck it, Kruschev!  Ok, you get Democracy now, yay!  Good for you guys, lets be friends!  We can rebuild you,  make you stronger, better, faster!  Umm, what&#8217;s gonna happen with all your nukes now?  Ohh&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.this is more complicated than I thought.&#8221;</p>
<p>The guy I got it from got it shipped to him years and years ago from Lithuania, and then for some bizarre reason, never opened it.  It was still packaged exactly like it was shipped, return address in Vilnius, and everything.   He insisted that we open it up right there, because he&#8217;d never actually seen it, and wanted a picture of it.  He said he had been saving it for some kind of special occasion.  I have no idea what sort of special occasion would warrant keeping a giant copper Lenin head under wraps for a decade, but I guess some people are weird like that.  I actually kept the packaging because it had the shipping info from its place of origin, but it was mistaken for trash, and thrown away. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>This is totally unrelated, but the guy who sold me this is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Garson">professional writer/photographer</a>, who&#8217;s specialty is WWII German and Soviet war photography.  I naturally find this fascinating, so he proceeds to whip out the ol&#8217; photo albums, only these ones don&#8217;t suck at all.  They&#8217;re 100% filled with <em>original</em> WWII photographs, mostly by soldiers, both in and out of battle.  There were photos of Nikita Kruschev as a pall bearer(in the front, left side).  There was a photo of 6 makeshift graves, with stick-crosses on top, British army helmets resting on the crosses.  Written on the back of the photograph, in German, it said &#8220;The first 6 Tommies to die.&#8221;  Fuuuuuuuck.  It had been taken in Dunkirk, presumably shortly after the allied armies fled across the Channel.</p>
<p>There was a picture of a German, pointing a rifle, bayonet attached, at a Soviet soldier, who was lying in a ditch, holding one arm up in complete surrender, as if to block the bayonet.  He was quite obviously fucking terrified.  The weird thing is that there was someone standing behind all this like &#8220;OOOH, duuuude.  Go over there and make like you&#8217;re gonna stab that commie in the face.  I&#8217;m gonna take a picture, and send it home to my wife!&#8221;  There&#8217;s a fair chance that immediately after the picture was taken, they stabbed the guy in the face.  If the situation had been reversed, it probably would have gone pretty much the same way.</p>
<p>There were photographs of captured french army soldiers from Algeria, you know, black ones.  He went on to tell me that Germans often didn&#8217;t take the black french soldiers prisoner.  They were kind of afraid of them, because culturally they&#8217;d been fed scary stories about savage africans.   Germany was never a major colonial power, so they didn&#8217;t have much direct prior experience with black people, unlike damned near everyone else in Europe, who all had colonies in Africa.  So, they made them do &#8220;funny&#8221; stereotypical things, like pose with a knife between their teeth, crouching as if to attack from out of the bushes, or some other stereotypically &#8220;savage&#8221; pose.  They&#8217;d have their buddy take pictures.  Why, yes, it does sound familiar, doesn&#8217;t it?  Sometimes they&#8217;d pose in the picture with them.  Then they&#8217;d shoot them.</p>
<p>There was this one hilarious series of photographs from the USSR.  The first one was Stalin, with 4 people in a room, standing behind a conference table.  Then one of them fell out of favor, so they erased him from the photographs.  Then another, so they erased him too.  Eventually, all of them were erased, the picture was just Stalin, by himself, in a completely different place.  Awesome.</p>
<p>Anyway, The reason he needed to sell His Copperness is so he could afford to buy more WWII photographs.   If any of those pictures sounded fascinating, then apply the picture:word formula, and imagine thousands of them.  <a href="http://www.amazon.com/ALBUM-DAMNED-SNAPSHOTS-THIRD-REICH/dp/0897335767/">He&#8217;s got a book</a> and everything.  The cover alone sells the book.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m gonna need to get me some of those for the collection, I&#8217;m sure I can make room for a &#8220;babies in nazi hats&#8221; section.</p>

<p>Look, I’m not and was never into Political Science, in fact I got a C in that borring class, it was run by a leftist Democrat, who was over opinionated and just a bitch…</p>
<p>So what’s the definition of capitalism?</p>
<p>My definition is: &#8220;a disgustingly selfish person.&#8221; I’m not talking about making your friends pay for pizza type of capitalist, I am talking about bankrupting your friends while staying in Las Vegas type of capitalism. Now multiply that type of capitalism by one hundred billion, and you have an idea of how greedy our American government and the New World Order is acting right now.</p>
<p>This group, that is actually the g-20, g-6: &#8220;WAIT!&#8221; There’s a whole lot of G’s in this neo-liberal, socialist, communist, Marxist, super-capitalism order they also have Corporation’s, 20 finance ministers and central-bankers from around the world. This “POWER HOUSE” also has incorporated the IMF and the E.U (European Union).</p>
<p>Plus the World Bank came to “PICK UP” all the cash that they’d get from the orders over inflated interest rates, that the smaller nations can’t pay, whom are being forced to pay their debts anyway by the IMF, (the worlds debt payment enforcers). The IMF did this to Iceland who’s now dirt poor, and probably can’t even afford to buy toilet paper in that country: &#8220;all because of the United States and the New World Order.&#8221;</p>
<p>Obama, Obama, Obama, his life story is great! I love it! A single mom raised him; she worked her butt off to put some food on the table, so poor Obama had something to eat. Not having a dad around he pushed himself threw school and then became a political activist. That’s probably when Obama learned the tricks of &#8220;REAL AMERICAN CAPITALISM&#8221;: I’m mean what America is actually uses when referring to capitalism: (take from the poor and give to the RICH.)</p>
<p>Real “AMERICAN CAPITALISM” has nothing to do with &#8220;helping people&#8221; and neither does AMERICAN (neo-liberalism): it has to do with &#8220;protecting&#8221; the rich and &#8220;making money&#8221; for the rich, and trust me, the EVIL EMPIRE dose not care about “ANYONE ELSE”, and this was invented by greedy manufacturers, bankers and the wonderful people who run Wall Street. Thanks guys!</p>
<p>The one thing that the New World Order can lose, if they get rid of the American labor force and the world&#8217;s labor force: then if they start paying everyone dirt wages: &#8220;No one will be able to afford their products!&#8221;</p>
<p>Adam Smiths passage says: “throughout history we find the wordings of “the vile maxim of mankind”: “All for ourselves and nothing for other people.” Their invisible hand he wrote, &#8220;will destroy the possibility of human existence.” The New World Order is really that bad, he goes on to say: “Eventually it will destroy even the masters.” In his day they were “merchants and manufacturers&#8221; in our day they’re: the g-20, finance minister’s, plus representatives from the IMF, E.U and the World Bank. With Darth Vader Obama as their personal lord and savior and the ileitis manufacturing corps.</p>
<p>Basically, no one will be able to afford their cheaply made shit, which they will turn around and charge us big money for. So they’ll be the ones losing their businesses, their money, their homes, and what has happened to us will happen to them. I believe the saying is: “what goes around, comes around.” But have the “MASTERS” of the neo-liberal New World Order: &#8220;thought about stopping?&#8221; NO! It’s full steam ahead, taking out as many little nations financially as possible, and yes (financial debt bondage) can be just as bad, if not worse then military defeat.</p>
<p>Man, am I a dope! All the time I have spent sitting in front of my T.V, just feeling sorry for those poor (third world nations): I believed for most of my highly-blind-political-life, that our America was the one’s that helped people. NO! We’re the financial predators: “Where’s Robin Hood when the world needs him?” And why doesn’t the Media ever talk about this? The answers money! People will do anything for money…</p>
<p>These greedy people made Iceland go bankrupt through (de-industrialization) and a (shrinking economy). which was the result of plunging property values, plunging rental income and plunging exchange rates and because of defaults and losses for lenders.</p>
<p>Next the IMF came to the creditors rescue, and told these small-nations: &#8220;to do the exact opposite of what the U.S would do to save their economy&#8221;. The U.S would pull us out of a financial disaster: and wouldn&#8217;t pay the dept back, they’d artificially inflate, not deflate the dollar, they’d set interest rates to zero, not increase them, they’d (Nationalize) but wouldn’t use that word, and the public would fund financial institutes, not finance foreign entities.</p>
<p>It’s really &#8220;disgusting&#8221; when you begin to realize that your own country has a “World-Order” dictating to the poor and the weak, to adopt the exact opposite of those policies that they use to save themselves from financial disaster&#8217;s: &#8220;so if Indonesia were in trouble, the U.S instructs them (VIA the IMF), to raise their interest rates, (so that Western corporations can buy up their assets on the cheap) the rest is neo-liberal dogma.&#8221;</p>
<p>Look, the rich are the only ones who will ever benefit from this dept-bondage scheme! Which profits from the financial destruction of little nations: &#8220;the IMF makes slaves out of people living in other nations!&#8221; Then the IMF takes over complete financial control of these smaller nations, just like what they did to Iceland, or any other nation that agrees to (borrow money) from the New World Order. Don’t be dumb and assume that it isn’t happening in America: &#8220;because it is!&#8221;</p>
<p>Once America and the g-20 are done sucking up that poor-nations wealth, they discard them like trash because America need’s to be in constant control of the Empire. So these nations march right into poverty, never being able to repay their debts and &#8220;they will remain poor forever and we will enforce that poverty.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Are you feeling good about being an American now?”</p>
<p>The main reason behind this scheme, is because we don’t want any nation having “control of their countries” and because we&#8217;re &#8220;greedy&#8221;. So they’d always have to ask for America’s permission for even the basic things.</p>
<p>The IMF keeps up their great job of being the WORLD’S enforcer: especially after receiving a $750 million dollar pledge from the g-20, which will (quadruple) the IMF’S resources and power. Then they’ll have $1 billion to rule the world: the masterminds behind this, (order/colossal fuck up) are Wall Street and Eastern European Bankers and they’re proving evil-transcended from the Nazi’s, into something much much bigger.</p>
<p>Dept-bondage is a cancer, and it will eventually spread all over the world, and this cancer is coming from the U.S and U.K. &#8220;Aren’t you proud now? I know I’m not!&#8221;</p>
<p>The monetary fund and the World Bank dictated the crusades against (economic liberalism) and other free-trade practices, and these crusades have doubled the gap between rich and poor countries since the 1960’s.</p>
<p>I guess there’s no need to ask: “why other countries might hate us so much?”</p>
<p>“Free market capitalism should be risk-free for the &#8216;masters&#8217;, as fully as can be.” These orders shut out protest and rabble that the order hates, and they have a very limited relation to (free trade): the U.S objective is (increased protectionism) and they will gain $61 billion from the third world and they&#8217;ll also be Insuring that U.S biased corporations: &#8220;will be controlling the world’s technology.&#8221; They’ll be locking the poor-majority into &#8220;dependence&#8221; and &#8220;hopelessness&#8221; forever. (Blah, ha, ha, ha!)</p>
<p>Liberal dept pyramiding is a very quick way, for &#8220;greedy Bankers&#8221; and &#8220;Creditor’s&#8221; to get rich off the (weak and the poor). It’s a zero sum game and one side’s gain, is another sides lose.</p>
<p>The g-20 or any of Obama’s G-s: &#8220;aren’t here to help anyone!&#8221; They’re like the spider to the fly, and they will (suck out) all the wealth that any little nation who borrows money from them has. Nations need to extract themselves from the IMF. America has not been saviors: &#8220;we are the predators!&#8221;</p>
<p>“It’s not east to induce nations into poverty”: it&#8217;s done through dept-pyramiding to make it look to little nations like a good economic strategy but it’s like a &#8220;junk food diet&#8221; to stay healthy.</p>
<p>The only reason bondholders care about the foreign economy in the first place is to absorb that nations entire economic surplus, (getting it all is today’s credo, and nothing is too outlandish or irresponsible). Then (socialism) comes to the rescue for &#8220;bankers&#8221; not for people.</p>
<p>This dept-bondage scheme needs to be exposed; &#8220;come on America stand up for the little guys and say NO MORE!&#8221;</p>
<p>Otherwise: other nations economies will be hollowed-out and people will be living in poverty and most of these people will die. Is that what you want because that’s not my American dream.</p>
<p>You can’t steel from the poor and give to yourself! It shouldn&#8217;t be allowed to happen but it is&#8230;</p>
<p>This was started by the Reagan administrations and it&#8217;s the root of the problem: it has destroyed international labor’s right to organize. The prime U.S objective is: “liberalization to displace domestic competitors and independent development. Which was designed to keep &#8216;wealth&#8217; and &#8216;power&#8217; firmly in the hands of the masters: who are the leaders of the new imperial age”.</p>
<p>The public has no clue about what’s going on: even I didn’t know, I had no clue: I thought it was all made up. Thank God for Obama’s speech, or I’d still be in the dark about what the U.S was doing.</p>
<p>Plus Obama’s hand picked cabinet members were responsible for dragging America into our current financial disaster, let’s give (Robert Rubin, Larry Summers, Tim Geithner and others) a big round of applause.</p>
<p>The ultimate cause for this financial nightmare (besides greed) was the housing bubble: that&#8217;s based on very risky sub-prime mortgage loans, along with other financial instruments which few understand who &#8220;owes what&#8221; to &#8220;whom&#8221;: which also includes basic market inefficiencies: the result is that (risk) is under priced and there is too much risk for a sound economy.</p>
<p>Our economy will not be (fixed) by financialization, which was accompanied by the deregulation-mania thats based on made up notions of “efficient markets” and &#8220;rational choice”. The ones with the primary responsibility for those (bad choices) are Obamas economic-advisers. Does it make sense to you to have the same guys who fucked-up the economy in the first place: &#8220;try to fix it?&#8221;</p>
<p>President Obama the President for change along with all the leftist-democrats thought he’d be their man for change, but they had no idea that this candidate for President was very popular with America’s leading elitists manufacturers: &#8220;who financially backed him for President&#8221; and that’s the real reason why President Obama won, because he had (more money) to run million dollar ad campaigns.</p>
<p>So everyone who thought that Obama created the Health care plan because he cared about American&#8217;s not having health care: &#8220;is dead wrong!&#8221; So why after years of talking about health care reform has the health care plan become so important? Elitist Corp&#8217;s the same one&#8217;s who supported Obama&#8217;s election are the same people who (wanted) this health care plan passed! Why? The Elitist&#8217;s didn’t want to support the rising costs of health care in America and wanted to pass the cost down to you and me. That’s how supper-capitalism works: &#8220;the rich stay rich and the poor pay more for everything.&#8221;</p>
<p>Has the American economic crises proven that capitalism is a parasitic institution? Yes!</p>
<p>Our advanced-economy has to (socialize cost) and (risk) while privatizing eventual-profit but, (eventually can be a really long time). Our current capitalism is “parasitic” because of protectionism, which has highly-protectionist trade-measures that &#8220;guarantees&#8221; monopoly-pricing-rights for state-subsidized corporations.</p>
<p>Plus most Americans do not have any real net-worth.</p>
<p>We have a dysfunctional democracy that MUST CHANGE!</p>
<p>The U.S is hiding the truth from people and the world; we’re turning “ownership” societies into “loan ship” societies. It used to be unthinkable to cripple a society with interest, now it’s done threw clever manipulation. To &#8220;convince nations&#8221; and &#8220;people&#8221; to go-along with their own demise: nations are buying into dept-peonage. It’s tragic!</p>
<p>In the hand’s of predators: (progressive bank reforms) are impossible and they “perverse&#8221; their special privileges by law: minimizing taxes on themselves by shifting the burden onto the labor industry. Manufacturers need to (understand) that: &#8220;if no one has a job then no one will be able to &#8216;buy&#8217; their expensive products, that’s the real end game&#8221;.</p>
<p>Banking should be a public utility: “to steer (debt creation) to fund growth in the means of &#8216;production&#8217; not economic-overhead by inflating property bubbles.”</p>
<p>Everyone living in all the nations of the world must reject this financial-system: to stop the theft of the world&#8217;s wealth, so the New World Order won&#8217;t control the future of the and destiny of the world: &#8220;so people can stay free.&#8221;</p>
<p>President Obama has done more to help the world’s bankers, then any other President; with his &#8220;help&#8221; they have achieved centralized control of a one-world government. (Way to go Obama!)</p>
<p>He’s shown bankers that they can count on him to the tone of trillions of dollars and further open-ended check book amounts on request which includes global “diplomatic” pressure that targets tiny nations to surrender.</p>
<p>Tiny nations who are over indebted need to demand “NO-MORE!”</p>
<p>In conclusion: we need a free society minus &#8220;world bankers&#8221; and the &#8220;New World Order&#8221;: otherwise everyone living throughout the world will eventually wind up in the poor house and that includes the New World order. America stand up and say NO-MORE: if Rosa Parks could stand up for her rights on a bus and say NO-MORE and change the future for millions threw the civil rights movement. then what kind of movement will it take, to change the way our government is: “I have no idea?” But if all we do is talk, then nothing will ever change. Well for starters we could Impeach Obama and then start to clean up the banking system and government.</p>
