On an essay test, if the directions use the words criticize, evaluate, interpret or justify, you are being asked for your opinion.

In a true / false test be careful. Some times a true statement will be reworded so that positive words replace negative ones ( and vice-versa).

Do not change your answer ever unless you absolutely positive you made an error.

If you have time, rework equations to guarantee an answer is correct.

In a fill in the blank test, try filling in your own word that makes sense, then look at the answers provided to see if there is one that matches perfectly.

In an essay test, if you are being asked to contrast, write about the differences only of the subjects at hand.

One of the best study aids is an old test. By looking over your errors you can see where you made mistakes and learn how to improve the next time around.

University of Hawaii is an in-demand college, and no wonder.

Education has no boundaries when it comes to the University of Hawaii. With 10 campuses in Manoa, West O’Ahu, Honolulu, Kaua’t, Maui, Hilo, Hawai’l, Kappolani, Leeward, and Windward, the University has established a reputable education system all over Hawaii.

Each of the university’s community campuses specializes in and satisfies various fields of interest in the community. The Manoa campus in Waikiki, the oldest of the 10 campuses, provides an array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as a research institute for higher learning and several sports programs. Other campuses such as the Honolulu campus and Kappolani campus cater to more specialized fields such as aeronautics and culinary arts respectively.

This writer has visited the campus in Honolulu and it was beautifully landscaped and filled with smiling students enjoying the island sunshine and fresh air as they walked from class to class. This is not an easy school to get into, due to high demand from all over the world, and also by a lot of local residents who paid their state taxes and who want to attend their hometown school.

Academic Programs

Each campus offers a unique set of academic curriculums. Some of the degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students enlisting themselves at the Manoa campus are as follows:

1.	Architecture

2.	Arts and sciences

3.	Business

4.	Education

5.	Engineering

6.	Hawaiian Knowledge

7.	Law

8.	Medicine

9.	Nursing and Dental Hygiene

10.	Ocean and Earth Science and Technology

11.	Pacific and Asian Studies

12.	Outreach

13.	Social Work

14.	Travel industry Management

15.	Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources

I have blogged on this before. Here is what I had written about 10 weeks ago.

In 2 days from now I have the same set of exams. This time it involves full text books. The good thing is that these are open book tests i.e. I can carry the text books with me to the exam hall. The exams test comprehension and not ‘fact’ knowledge. The last time I wrote open book tests I did not open my text books at all!!! I felt like a donkey carrying all the books to the examination hall. But now I seem to be taking comfort in the exam being ‘open book’, when there is no evidence to feel comforted. How irrational could we be to avoid anxiety when it is needed and think anxious thoughts when it is not needed. Isn’t it? That is for a larger debate.

Coming back to the exams…Before the last set of exams, I had resolved to change my reading/ studying style. Didn’t I? I did resolve bit I HAVE NOT CHANGED IT

No problem.Exams keep coming. It is a long life- a life of learning.

How to Ace Your Next Exam in College
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jay_West]Jay West

Think about this scenario for a moment:

“… Exams are about a week away and you are starting to feel slightly pinched because you wanted to start studying last week but you got so busy that you have not had an opportunity to start until know. You are secretly wondering if you will be able to cover everything in enough time to be able to feel confident before walking into the exam. You make a mental side note to leave Friday night open, just in case you need to squeeze in an all-nighter and catch up on sleep the next morning…”

Does this sound a lot like your life at the moment (or, what life was like last semester)? You’re not alone. So many students feel this way and soon enough, the pinch I describe above turns into a blatant slap and finally, the final stage where all of that stress turns into your vital energy being sucked out of you! This is usually the long and short of most students’ experience in college during exam time.

College life most certainly does not have to be this way.

Here are some immediate issues that I can identify with the above student… He or she:

Has not practiced good note taking throughout the semester
Has not reviewed daily
Does not practice good time management
Has good intentions but sabotages his/her chances for success

Understand this: exam preparation is occurring each and everyday that you’re in school – not simply during the weeks prior to an actual exam. As you work your way through a semester, you will be acting like a detective, so to speak, putting the pieces of a puzzle together. It is the act of putting these pieces together that will eventually prepare you for the final test. If you are actively engaged in the process earlier on (which means you must do all that leg work, daily review, etc.) then you will have a better outcome during exam time. You cannot substitute this learning process with catching up late in the semester/term or committing to all-nighters, hoping to squeeze all of that work (2-4 month’s worth) into a few pow-wow sessions.

So, how do you get an A (assuming you’ve done all the leg work prior to the two weeks leading up to exam day)?

Good question. I suggest you do the following:

1. Finalize your notes

Take your entire set of notes (and, they should be a complete set of notes that combine all the lecture notes with your own notes) and compile them into one, complete study guide. Use this study guide to teach the material back to yourself. You might even try to play the role of the professor, as if you have been charged with task of teaching the course material to a group of students. If their success depends on your instruction, how might you teach the material to them so that they have the greatest chance of succeeding in the course? This is how you’ll re-teach it back to yourself.

2. Practice

If you are taking a problem-based course, like math or some other applied course, then your study time should also be focused on doing a great deal of practice. In the case of a math course, after having gone through the entire semester (or term), you will know what sort of problems to expect on a test. Or, your professor will hint at what to focus upon. Just keep on drilling out answers to problems, especially the sort of problems that you know are likely to appear on tests and/or those that you have issues with.

In the case of a course that’s not geared like a math course, such as a philosophy course or an English class, spend plenty of time quizzing and recalling all the relevant material and in a way that is relevant. Allow me to illustrate what I mean by this…

If you are going to be subjected to plenty of long essay questions on an exam (perhaps it’s an English course you’ll be sitting for), test yourself accordingly by devising a list of several essay questions that are likely to appear on the exam and then answer them. You might even choose to time yourself so that you can emulate the same sort of conditions that you’ll be facing on exam day. If there will be more short answer and multiple choice questions, get your hands on practice tests and/or old exams and go through those as you time yourself.

Studying is a lot like training for a sport. If you want to run faster, you practice running. If you want to jump higher, you practice jumping. If you want to be able to skilfully navigate a soccer field, you practice the appropriate drills. You get the idea… The same applies with studying. Practice memorizing the material that is relevant AND in exactly the same way that you will be tested on it.

As you can see, exam preparation does not have to be as difficult or as stressful as you might think it should be. The fact is, if you have done all your preparation work before entering into the weeks before your exam, you will be able to breeze through all of the studying that you will have to do without any issue.

In his ground-breaking guide Easy-GPABooster, Jay West discusses his ‘two week slam’ studying strategy. With this method, you will learn how to blaze through your studying and score A’s on all your exams without stress!

If you need extra guidance before your upcoming certification exam, then consider a medical coding review class.

The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) provide various classes, helpful links and materials to prepare for the CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, CCS and CCS-P exam on their websites. Fees can vary per course.

Students currently enrolled in a medical coding program can also register for a review class through their school. Many college programs offer an exam preparation class under a continuing education course schedule. The course will be designed to prepare the student to take the AAPC or AHIMA certification exams. The course should also have a solid foundation in coding principles and conventions to reinforce the proper use of the coding books. An approved-certified instructor will offer assistance while preparing a student for a certification test. Students will address principles and concepts of each coding manual and be quizzed accordingly. The class will also allow the student to perform on a mock examination.

An existing career professional may be able to sign up for a review class from their employer (health insurance or hospital employees) or consider finding a class under the CE program at a local area college. A coding review class will usually be from 4 to 6 weeks. The cost of a review class can be from $150.00-$600.00. Prices depend on the school and whether review materials are included in the price of the class.

So, consider this option prior to scheduling an official certification exam.

The best way to prepare for the NCEA exams is to start early, to plan your revision, and to use sound learning strategies. As exams move closer, you should prioritise your time. This means deciding how much time to allocate to particular subjects or topics. For some of you that will mean it is time to focus on your English, especially essay writing!

In general, essay questions test understanding (of themes, ideas, concepts), and the ability to interpret, analyse, and evaluate. In preparing for essay questions, you must make sure that you understand the ideas, concepts, and theories that have been set out in the course. Your preparation can be assisted by

* discussion with peers

I have exams coming up at the end of the month. Topics are related to management. IT in Management, Total Quality Management, Project Management and Business Communication. I need to cover about 15oo pages of absolutely new information in less than 3 weeks now, also working full time and being 24 hours on call.

OK, take up the challenge and just do it- so I thought a week ago. Find it difficult to settle down to read. I do get opportunities to read. I do it too. I read fast thinking I ll cover the ground and after I get a rough idea I could revise. I did this many times in my life and never managed to ‘digest’ all that was required to my heart’s content. I keep resolving to improve my study habits, but I don’t.

Of course, this time I have not wasted as much time procrastinating as I had in the past. It was only about 10 days ago that I received the books. Still…

Do I want to change my style? Probably I won’t. Read in a rush…get a vague idea…a big picture…add detail if possible…revise before exam…face it. That is the best that I could think of doing in a short period like this.

For the next set of exams in October,do I change my style? I sincerely hope that I do…

This course was about evereything and about nothig at the same time. It was about 4 different laguages plus some basis concepts. Lectures was completely sucks, but as I heard from seniors exam is quite hard. It’s gonna be in test form.

So I decided to try to prepare on the fresh air. I think we(me and my friend) will go to the park Vorobievi Gori. Probably it’s gonna be better than sit at home in such beatiful weather.
Each student is very important for all CLEP exam knows everything depends on how well you know the a

Each student is very important for all CLEP exam knows everything depends on how well you know the area. However, knowledge for the study and the focus of your CLEP test preparation is as important as knowing what to study. You have to know the knowledge gaps that you need to fill what it does take a CLEP test study guide so critical.

CLEP Preparation is often the deciding factor on how well you perform on your test. You can try to read more books about books or to look for clues online and you can work for you but it’s a lot of work. Instead, get a study guide for CLEP from the College Board and will be saving yourself a lot of time and money.

Now that you’ve decided to take the test that best prepare sufficiently. This means that a maximum charge for any of the CLEP test study guide or a CLEP test preparation class. Assess your current knowledge in specific subject to be tested in real time through the practice tests. Once you understand the limitations of his knowledge, you can begin to study the same material and course work.

Try the following suggestions to overcome the limitations of knowledge:

1. Visit the College Board and register for a test preparation guide for CLEP. This guide provides a large sample of tests on the official testing of persons in the College Board. While it might not be a tester, the CLEP test study guide is probably a tool that should not be without.

2. There are also a number of bookstores that sell various selections of the study guide for CLEP depending on the type of course. I recommend finding a CLEP preparation that mimics the same time feeling a real test. Also, be aware that is not out of date. The important thing is comfort. You should only do more harm than good to get nervous and worked up you do not study properly. Choose the CLEP test preparation that works best for you.

3. Ask someone who has already passed a CLEP test counseling. It can sometimes be the best CLEP study guide there.

It’s always overwhelming to receive positive feedbacks and comments from reviewees (of www.allgen.net) and students who already aced their exams. It doesn’t only show gratitude from them but mostly an affirmation that I/we have to continue what I/we do best – inspiring and motivating people to exert more to meet the demands of exam preparation & all other endeavors.

I always tell my reviewees that
“Even a champion like Manny Pacquiao ALWAYS TRAIN HARD before a fight.”
But whatever physical and mental efforts we put in our preparation for whatever,
still nothing beats DIVINE INTERVENTION.
AMEN to that!

For (Catholic) examinees out there, I am sharing an effective prayer I highly suggest you utter before you sit in any examination.
Say this as you prepare for your biggest fight…
try it, it works!

Prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino
for success in Examination

O Great St. Joseph of Cupertino who while on earth did obtain from God the grace to be asked at your examination only the questions you knew, obtain for me a like favour in the examinations for which I am now preparing. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.
Through Christ our Lord.

St. Joseph of Cupertino, Pray for us. Amen.

O St. Joseph of Cupertino who by your prayer obtained from God to be asked at your examination, the only preposition you knew. Grant that I may like you succeed in the (name of exam: NCLEX).

In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.
O St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me
O Holy Ghost enlighten me
Our Lady of Good Studies pray for me
Sacred Head of Jesus, Seat of divine wisdom, enlighten me.

(Remember, when you succeed in the exams then you should thank St. Joseph of Cupertino in the Newspaper.)

Holy Spirit, you who makes me see every-thing and who shows me the way to reach my ideals, you who gives me the Divine gift to forgive and forget all that is done to me, and you who are in all the instincts of my life with me, I in this short dialogue, want to thank you for everything and affirm once more that I never want to be separated from you, no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with you and my loved ones in their perpetual glory. To that end and submitting to God’s holy will, I ask from you….. etc. (your request).

Btw, His feast day also falls on my birthday : SEPT. 18.
God give you peace!
