     Preserving species and their habitats is important for ecosystems to self-sustain themselves. Yet, the pressures to destroy habitat for logging, illegal hunting, and other challenges are making conservation a struggle.

 What is Biodiversity ?

 

    The variety of life on Earth, its biological diversity is commonly referred to as biodiversity. The number of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, the enormous diversity of genes in these species, the different ecosystems on the planet, such as deserts, rainforests and coral reefs are all part of a biologically diverse Earth.

   

    Appropriate conservation and sustainable development strategies attempt to recognize this as being integral to any approach. Almost all cultures have in some way or form recognized the importance that nature, and its biological diversity has had upon them and the need to maintain it. Yet, power, greed and politics have affected the precarious balance.

Does it really matter if there arent so many species?

Loss of Biodiversity and Extinctions

It is feared that human activity is causing massive extinctions. From various animal species, forests and the ecosystems that forests support, marine life. The costs associated with deteriorating or vanishing ecosystems will be high. However, sustainable development and consumption would help avert ecological problems.

 

  

God is very interested in the details. When you take a look at the instructions for the tabernacle tent God instructed in Exodus, up to the Temple design God gave David to pass onto Solomon…we see a God who loves precison and excellence.

He called for the best materials. He called for the best craftsmen. He called for everyone to give their all. The level of excellence was not lost in the details….it was amplified.

The result was a place of His presence, a place of worship like no other. It’s no different today for us. God is still interested in the details. He is still involved in every little intricacy.

God still wants the Tabernacle…His Temple, to be a spectacular display of His presence to dwell. The only difference today is we are the temple! He is still involved in every detail of the constuction…but the materials are our lives. We have a master builder in the Holy Spirit who is working to make our temples excellent.

It was Paul’s instruction to the Corinthians. It’s the cry in Romans 12:1 that calls us to this true act of worship. It’s not all on us, God is just as involved as He was in the old testament! The materials and the methods have just become personalized.

Ephesians 6:14 – “Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,”

I spoke yesterday of the many references in the Old Testament of the word “breastplate”, the majority of those references being found in Exodus. In scanning those Exodus verses, I found that those references were to the priestly garb that Aaron was to wear when he performed his duties. Exodus lists in exquisite detail the instructions the Lord gave Moses as to the construction of the tabernacle, as well as how the priest was to be garbed. Among the priestly breastplate’s construction were precious stones that would represent the twelve tribes of Israel.

Remember, that among the high priest’s main duties was to act as an intercessor for the people before God. In the New Testament, the greatest intercessor, our high priest, is Jesus Christ Himself. I see those stones on the breastplate being reminders that we are not far from God’s heart…that He loves us very much. He wants us to be free from guilt and sin. We can only do that through the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on our behalf as the atoning sacrifice for our sins…once and for all.

Jesus was not Son of God: Usage of Old Testament

Hi friends

The Christians say that Jesus was told in Torah and the Gospels as son of god hence he was son of God, literally.
.
This is wrong and is against the usage of Torah and the Gospel as in them these words have not been used for Jesus exclusively but these words have been used hundreds of time for other men also and the Christians don’t admit hem as son of god. Jesus was mentioned a s son of god so it has been mentioned for others

Examples:

Exodus 4:22.
And thou shalt say to him: Thus saith the Lord: Israel is my son, my firstborn. Israel is my son, my firstborn.
Psalms 88:21-26
21 I have found David my servant: with my holy oil I have anointed him. 22 For my hand shall help him: and my arm shall strengthen him. 23 The enemy shall have no advantage over him: nor the son of iniquity have power to hurt him. 24 And I will cut down his enemies before his face; and them that hate him I will put to flight. 25 And my truth and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
26 And I will set his hand in the sea; and his right hand in the rivers. 27 He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation. 28 And I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.
So, in the usage of Bible all righteous and loved – ones of God have been mentioned as son of god; nothing special for Jesus.

I love Jesus and Mary as mentioned in Quran.

Compare Psalm 23 to the Exodus Narrative – what results do we yeild?

 ¹The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
 ²He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
 ³He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
   for his name’s sake.

 ⁴Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
   I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
   your rod and your staff,
   they comfort me.

 ⁵You prepare a table before me
   in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
   my cup overflows.
⁶Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
   all the days of my life,

The shepherd is being followed (he is leading) to a green land of still waters.  The Spirit leads the people past the moving waters of the Reed Sea and the Jordan to the still (that is, wells?) waters, like Jacob’s Well and the Seas of Canaan.

Even in the valley (figurative) between Sinai and Zion there is no fear, Aaron’s Staff, and the Rod of the Law are a comfort.

They were called to feast at the mountain, but their enemies would not let them away, so the LORD prepared a table in the presence of their enemies.

Their neighbors had a God-given favor and loaded them down with gold, silver and clothing… their cups overflowed.

I am not saying that the Psalm is written with this as the major emphasis, or away from the kingly motif of David on the run.  I am just saying that David wasn’t the first Son of God to be on the run from an evil king…Or the last (Ex 4.21-23, Hos 11.1, Mt 2.15).  So the pattern is present earlier, and is useful to our ears today.

I’d been doing a Bible walk with some young punks from Warragul Anglican Church, and I mentioned on Twitter that there was a little bird in the sanctuary and a big man in the laneway. Marcus asked whether the big man was ‘The one who is coming who is stronger…’

Saturday night Mehrin and I went out to visit Ray and Ben at their new house. On the way there we walked past a fish and chip shop, and there was a little old lady staring out at us through a little crack in the side gate, next to the shop:

So that is some of what I have been drawing in my notebook recently.

We have much to escape, much to shed, much to loose, much to famine from and much to walk without. Moreover, there is far more that we ought receive. It is made perfect in the Lord. And it is the Lord whose perfection is gifted freely unto those who so submit that they receive it.

There is but one way to sever the chains of bondage from that which you come from. You were born to an environment where no father nor mother may have existed. Perhaps it was an environment by which chaos devoured you lean and mean into futile rebellion even unto that which is good. For what is good?

Is it your friend beside you? Your wife? Your brother? Your neighbor? Be it your dog that returns even after you have wrongly kicked him in your deeply embedded rage of anger? Was it Mao Tse Tung or perhaps Benito Mussolini or even Adolf Hitler? Who is good?

Ought it be defined and declared that all men should agree? Ought your good be greater than mine? Perhaps your good just as good as mine? Yet when my good just isn’t good enough should I fashion is definition accordingly? And to you the same? Should in debate the definition be altered by mere perspective? Ought we pervert our utterances evermore that we tailor it to our quests for inequity? Are you willing to accept that there remain truth everlasting? What is good?

WHAT IS GOOD

• Matthew 19:17 – And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
• Mark 10:18 – And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
• Luke 18:19 – And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

Now let it be known what is good. Therefore there be no mistake nor nothing but a definitive proclamation of good. The definition of good is thereby defined and everlasting on its own accord. It is neither me nor you. It is Almighty God as Jesus so proclaimed.

Finally, from where have you arisen? Great disdain do I have for much of what I had to endure during my earliest years of childhood and youth. It was not great and certainly not the worse. But have I been shown any other way that I might know how to be a “good” man to raise a family of two boys or moreover be a deserving husband of such a great wife who takes great care of myself and our boys?

This woman, my wife, stands at my greatest honor and thanks to have gifted me such earnest prayer and persistence in the Lord. I cleave unto her my wife who stands to build me to my finest hour in the Lord. She stands resilient in her directives to deliver us from generations’ fate. Tired in her plight she drives on that our two boys may be delivered from our own woeful pasts. She builds me up even when undeserving of such gifts of grace. She is magnificent in her manners and sharp with her retort against wrong. Correction is fierce but even still loving and pure.

I am inspired and go nowhere without. We are one in the same. She prays fervently on my behalf and behalf of our family. At my greatest hour she awakens me to rise. She is a valiant warrior herself, faithful and steadfast for the Lord. Even before her I stand, yet she stands before me such a gift that by whom there is much gain.

Likewise at such low she raises me accordingly by way of earnest servitude to the Lord everlasting, fashioning herself tireless in righteousness for the sake of our family even at great measures.

I have learned many of the wrong ways by the manner at which I have arrived. As a man, as a husband and as a father I am merely lost upon my own accord. My practices are vaguely practical and even less loving than I might be of myself if I even knew love beyond which she has led me. I was left to my own right, left to my own way, left to my own flawed vision of what family ought to be. My wife has been the greatest of contenders on my behalf. Her pursuits were greater than my reliance upon self. She ushered me unto my redemption. She in her own graciously loving way was delivered me that I might be saved from my own peril and likewise the generations hereafter.

Now what damage has been done? The path from which we might flee might lead full circle in our haste and angst against our those who’ve delivered us unto this moment. Now what damage has been done?

The damage from mere words can draw down nations. Words ruin marriage and raise up armies against a people. How is it that the generations from which you come and which follow shall not equally be affected by the sins therein of the forefathers? Even you at work whose anger is awoken take it with you and lay it upon the threshold of your home. Ought not the same remain for generations of perpetual misery that is made feast on our families?

• Exodus 34:7 - Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty ; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation .
• Joel 2-3 – 2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

I urge you to release it.

As a man and warrior, the enemy is real and wears a face and yet likewise goes silent among you, unnoticed. He wears the face that our soldiers face in Afghanistan. He is shewn down by bullet or by hand. He wears a face in more common places and yet goes unnoticed and lives freely among you to toil in your way. Target acquisition. Engage. Eliminate.

Sever ties from the way of generations who have jettisoned you unto this moment and make new for you, your family and even still such a great country among us.

And take upon you “the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” that you may drive the sword straight through that which you were and lead those generations who follow unto greatness greater than you yourself, as it is purposed deep within you, where reside the voice hereafter referenced. Heed.

• Ephesians 6:10-20 – 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

In sacrament meeting today we had talks about faith during times of adversity. For some reason, these talks mad me think about the lack of faith expressed by the Jews in the desert. Even though they had been led out of captivity by god and miraculously brought through the desert, they still griped and complained about everything. Their problem was that they failed to recall the miracles that they had already experienced and be thankful

Jeffrey R. Holland referenced this in his talk Cast Not Therefore Your Confidence Away ( Which I have written about in the past )

“That is exactly the problem that beset the children of Israel at the edge of the Red Sea. That is lesson number two. It has everything to do with holding fast to earlier illumination. The record says, “And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid.”

Some, just like those Paul had described earlier, said, “Let’s go back. This isn’t worth it. We must have been wrong. That probably wasn’t the right spirit telling us to leave Egypt.” What they actually said to Moses was, “Wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? . . . It had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness” (Exodus 14:10–12).

And I have to say, “What about that which has already happened? What about the miracles that got you here? What about the frogs and the lice? What about the rod and the serpent, the river and the blood? What about the hail, the locusts, the fire, and the firstborn sons?”

How soon we forget. It would not have been better to stay and serve the Egyptians….”

There is a famous Passover song that beautifully expresses this idea the Dayenu that expressed the appreciation that each act of God in and of itself is sufficient to deserve our praise.  It goes through 15 things that God did for the people of Israel in taking them out of Egypt and bringing them to the promised land. They progressively intensify from acts involved in leaving slavery, to miracles in the desert, to the formation of a spiritual relationship with God.

A typical Verse

“ If he had given us the Torah and had not brought us into the land of Israel – Dayenu, it would have sufficed.”

On this week of thanksgiving this is a beautiful way to become more thankful for all that we have. Recount your blessings beginning with the most simple of all—life itself. Realize that each blessing by itself would be enough to put us in God’s debt eternally. Yet, he has given us more and more infinitely. He has given us bodies, a loving and caring savior and a plan of salvation. He has let us be born in the fullness of time to be able to experience the blessings of the temple and to help our ancestors become more perfected. He has given us much more than we can ever adequately recall. What a lovely way to think about Thanksgiving.

The chapter begins by telling us that on the first day of the first month, the Tabernacle was erected according to God’s instructions. Just to put it into context…Exodus 12 tells us that the Passover was celebrated in Egypt and that this would become the first month for the Israelites. So, on the anniversary of this event…the Tabernacle was erected.

Consider the magnitude of this. If you take away the time Moses spent on the Mountain receiving instructions…all that was accomplished to build the Tabernacle (including the contributions, fashioning of the ministering furniture, and the preparing fo the garments…was accomplished in about 9 months.

God instructed that the Tabernacle be erected and that Moses consecrate/anoint it and all of its furnishings and the Priests who would minister (vv.1-16). Moses did all that the Lord had commanded. This phrase becomes a familiar refrain throughout this chapter (see vv.16,19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 32). Thus Moses finished all of the work (v.33).

That is an amazing statement in itself. How well does that describe your life. __________ finished all the work that God had commanded, just as He commanded. Is your life typified by what you have been purposed for and how you accomplished that purpose?

In v.34, we see the Glory of God descend and dwell in the Tabernacle. When the Tabernacle was prepared and consecrated, God set up residence. By the way…that is no different today. Notice also, that the people decided where to go and when to move according to the manifest presence of God. WHen God dwelt in the Tabernacle…the people stayed. When God moved to another place, the people pursued Him (vv.36-38).

What would it be like if we ordered the steps of our lives, throughout our journeys according to our desire to join God in His presence? Some might argue that since God is omnipresent…then He is wherever we are…so we don’t need to chase after Him. Not to press the question too far…but the point is about being where God would have us to be…doing what God would have us to do. When the Israelites were in the presence of God…there was a physical manifestation of His presence. When they lingered behind…His glory (and presence) was obviously missing.) Question: Is it OBVIOUS that the glory of God rests on you and in your life; or, is it something that you talk about in the past tense?

Proverbs 22:9 is the takeaway today. “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” When we read this verse, it should be obvious to us that there is a blessing in being generous by being sacrificial in our giving. Many today, I fear, miss this blessing…because they are not willing to sacrifice and to give of their own supply to simply care for others.

 CONGRATS! You have finished Exodus! Let’s go back to the NT tomorrow and begin the Gospel of Luke together! See you there!

So over at Wine Before Breakfast we’ve been hanging out with Paul and his letter to the Romans again. And this morning I offered these reflections on Romans 8.1-17. My indebtedness to Sylvia Keesmaat’s book Paul and His Story: (Re)Interpreting the Exodus Tradition (Sheffield, 1999) is clear.

I would recommend that you take a moment to read the Romans text (slowly and prayerfully) before launching into what I have on offer here.

No one ever said that this was going to be easy.
Not Paul’s letter to the Romans.
Not the faith that he there proposes.
Not the Jesus he calls us to follow.

I know that this stuff isn’t easy.
But if it were easy, it would be cheap.
Right?
I mean if it was any simpler,
then it wouldn’t likely be any more true
to the lives of those early believers in Rome
than it would be true of our own conflicted,
compromised,
complicit,
and contradictory lives.

Tenth Plague: The Death of the First-Born.

The Passover ritual Consist of the slaughtering of Lambs during the evening twilight. ISRAEL were suppose to take some bold and place it at the door post of every house. That night God strikes down every first-born son the Egyptians; including animals. Those that have the blood of the LAMB would be spared.

The first part of the chapter lists in detail the making of the priest’s garments. As with the construction of the Tabernacle, every instruction was carefully followed.

V.32 is a summary statement that everything was completed and brought before Moses. Moses saw all that was done and approved of it and blessed the people (v.43).

He blessed the people because they had done all that God had commanded. In essence, this is the ultimate key to success in every area of life. If one simply determines what it is God has instructed them to do and does it, they experience the blessing of God.

Success is obedience. Worship is obedience.

One thing in the priest’s garments stuck out to me. The people had to beat the gold to a paper thin size and then cut the gold into thread like pieces so that it could be woven into the priest’s robe. Even this detail was adhered to (v.3). Considering the conditions, this is amazing to me and speaks of the attention to detail. Nothing was spared or overlooked when it came to preparing to enter into God’s presence.

Proverbs 21:5 is the takeaway today. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.”

I searched online for Myanmar metal stuff last night and found a forum. With great expectations, I clicked on the link.

What I found?

They were talking about… nu-metal??? Yes, nu-metal. Frigging hell mallcore stuff like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. There were even people who mentioned Linkin Park and Flyleaf.

Seriously! There was nothing on it but mallcore. -.-

Next one was a blog. He was talking about Slipknot and how much he likes them and on another blog was an article on Myanmar metal scene and the author was talking about Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. Frigging Metalcore.

Why can’t they just get out of this whole mallcore thing??? Why won’t they step deeper into the depths? WHY?????

There were even some people who said,”Slipknot is Death Metal”. Ya, go die. It pisses me off when I hear people saying crap like that.

Mallcore, Nu-metal, Metalcore, BFMV, A7X, Marilyn Manson, BMTH, blah blah blah and it goes on and on and on in a never finishing mallcore whirlpool. This is what’s happening  in Myanmar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Metal albums aren’t that rare anymore. You can pretty much buy them here. (Last week I got Black Sabbath:The Dio Years and Megadeth’s Endgame.) Or you can download them via Mediafire or 4shared (which I usually do).

Still people are still drowning in the mallcore whirlpool… labeling themselves “metalheads” with Slipknot songs in their mp3 players.

It’s time to ditch out mallcore people! Ditch it out and explore into the depths of Metal!
