EXPERIENCE HENDRIX TOUR kembali akan digelar mulai awal Maret yang akan datang di 17 tempat di Amerika. Ini adalah tour  yang sudah dilaksanakan selama beberapa kali dan terakhir adalah tahun 2008 yang lalu, dengan sederetan musisi ternama seperti Keyne Wayne Shepperd,  Mato Naji  (Indigenous), Double Trouble rhytm sections, Tommy Shanon dan Chris Layton, Robbie Krieger (the doors),  Buddy Guy, Santana, Paul Rodgers, Hubbert Sumlin dll.

Sedangkan untuk EXPERIENCE HENDRIX Tour 2010 rencananya musisi-musisi yang akan tampil adalah  Keyne Wayne Shepperd, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Jhonny Lang, Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Doyle Bramhall II, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Double Trouble’s Chris Layton, dan pemain bas  mantan grup Hendrix di Band Of Gypsis,  Billy Cox.  Selain itu dibeberapa kota tertentu juga akan tampil  Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi serta David Hidalgo dan  Cesar Rosas dari grup Los Lobos.

Para pemusik tersebut akan membawakan lagu-lagu keramat milik Jimi Hendrix, seperti “Voodo Chile”, ” Little Wing”, “Red House”, “Purple Haze” dll.  Dan sebagai tambahan informasi, selain sederetan para pemusik di atas, seperti yang terjadi pada Hendrix Experience tur yang sudah-sudah bisa muncul bintang-bintang tamu yang tak terduga yang akan lebih memeriahkan dan menghangatkan suasana. Tahun kemarin misalnya, special guest yang muncul adalah Buddy Guy, Santana dan Paul Rodgers.

Experience Hendrix tour diselenggaran oleh EXPERIENCE HENDRIX sebuah badan usaha yang didirikan oleh Al Hendrix, ayah Jimi Hendrix pada awal tahun 90 an, sebagai upaya menjaga (kualitas) dan melestarikan karya-karya Jimi Hendrix.  Karena sebelum adanya badan ini banyak beredar rekaman-rekaman bootleg Jimi Hendrix yang tak bisa dipertanggung jawabkan kualitasnya. Sekarang setelah adanya badan usaha yang operasional dipimpin oleh Jenny Hendrix ( adik tiri Jimi Hendrix),  maka segala hal yang berkaitan dengan “warisan” Jimi Hendrix dikontrol oleh EXPERIENCE HENDRIX.

Experience Hendrix Tour sendiri berawal dari event THE JIMI HENDRIX ELECTRIC GUITAR FESTIVAL , yang disponsori secara penuh oleh  EXPERIENCE HENDRIX , yang menjadi bagian dari  event tahunan Bumbershoot Art Music and Fair di Seatle pada tahun 1995. Dari sini pada tahun-tahun berikutnya, event ini  bergulir menjadi event yang mandiri.  Dan namapun berubah. Mulai dari satu malam pertunjukan, kemudian tahun berikutnya pertunjukan di tiga kota dstnya, sampai pada tahun 2008 yang lalu menjadi tour di banyak kota.

Experience Hendrix, the fourth edition of the biennial concert tour that features an all-star line-up of music greats paying homage to the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix, gets underway in early March of next year with special performances across the country.

Featured artists who will be performing music written and inspired by Jimi Hendrix include some of the best known and most respected artists in contemporary rock and blues, including Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brad Whitford (of Aerosmith), Doyle Bramhall II, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Double Trouble’s Chris Layton, along with bassist Billy Cox. Cox, who first befriended Hendrix when the two were in the 101st Airborne Division of U.S. Army, played in both the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys and performed with Hendrix at such landmark festivals as Woodstock and the Isle of Wight. Cox commented, “It’s a thrill for me to play Jimi’s music for audiences now as it was in the 1960s. The Experience Hendrix tours have shown how timeless this music really is.” Joe Satriani remarked, “I finally get to pay tribute to my hero the right way, on stage with an amazing, once in a lifetime, line up of musicians!” Sacred Steel featuring Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi and David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos are also performing on selected Experience Tour dates.

Various combinations of these music greats will be performing Jimi’s signature songs including “Purple Haze,” “Voodoo Child (Slight Return), “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Little Wing” and “Red House.” As has been the case with previous Experience Hendrix tour incarnations, special guests are expected to sit in at many of the dates making the concerts all that much more memorable for both new and veteran Hendrix fans. Past special guests have included Paul Rodgers, Buddy Guy and Carlos Santana.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, a veteran of several Experience Hendrix tours, remarked, “Jimi Hendrix’s music has really inspired to push the limits of my own music. He didn’t observe any boundaries musically. He was an amazing player and a tremendous showman so I incorporated some of his showmanship in what I do.” As far as having been part of the Experience Hendrix touring phenomenon, Shepherd noted, “It touches you on the inside and gets you fired up.”

The Experience Hendrix Tour is presented by Experience Hendrix, LLC, the Hendrix family-owned company founded by James A. “Al” Hendrix, Jimi’s father, entrusted with preserving and protecting the legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Earlier this year, Sony Music Entertainment’s Legacy Division and Experience Hendrix entered into a worldwide catalog licensing venture to make all of Jimi’s extraordinary music, including classic albums, never before heard archive recordings, and filmed concerts available through all forms of media.

Launching on the west coast, the month-long tour will bring the troupe of players, each a headliner in his or her own right, to concert venues in major U.S. markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis and Atlanta.

Produtora Legendary Pictures investe no exame do icônico instrumento que moldou o rock’n’roll

Lançado em 14 de agosto nos Estados Unidos, It Might Get Loud (A Todo Volume), documentário que mergulha com raro empenho na intimidade das lendas do rock, ou, melhor, dos heróis da guitarra, deve chegar à versão nacional no mês de novembro (dia 6). Nele, os desenvoltos instrumentistas The Edge, do U2, Jimmy Page, do Led Zeppelin, e Jack White, do White Stripes, interagem e discorrem sobre sua relação pessoal com a guitarra elétrica, falando de paixão, técnicas e possibilidades sonoras.

Ao longo de noventa e sete minutos de filme, os músicos dão seus depoimentos que pontuam oportunamente três gerações diferentes na evolução do ritmo. Dirigido por Davis Guggenheim, a obra tem como principal qualidade a revelação de como os astros, individualmente, atingiram sua identidade artística, fazendo o espectador perceber o estilo que cada um tem de tocar e o quanto essa “pegada” acaba sendo o fator mais importante para um guitarrista que queira ser levado a sério.

Para quem já ama e está envolvido com o instrumento, o documentário é um must-see só pelo fato nos dar a possibilidade de acompanhar a ocasião rara e inédita que coloca no mesmo círculo três artistas talentosíssimos e cheios de pegada, porém pertencentes a galhos diferentes da árvore genealógica do rock. O compartilhar de suas experiências e as coisas ensinadas uns aos outros mostram que a evolução só pode ser galgada com mente e ouvidos abertos e o apuro natural pela sensibilidade.

E a empreitada da Legendary Pictures em nome da guitarra e do rock não para por aí: a mesma produtora anunciou que está trabalhando em uma cinebiografia do imbatível Jimi Hendrix. O roteiro baseado na vida do músico e mito da era flower power está sob a batuta de Max Borenstein, e conta com o mesmo produtor de Watchmen e dono da Legendary Thomas Tull, além de Bill Gerber, responsável por Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood).

A empresa continua em negociação com a Experience Hendrix, administradora do patrimônio de Jimi, mas mesmo assim está tocando o projeto, antes de chegar a um acordo sobre os direitos autorais.

Legendary Pictures greenlights a new music documentary which will be about the life of the legendary guitarist, Jimi Hendrix. This movie was inspired by the idea of, “It Might Get Loud”, the new music movie that stars Jack White, Jimmy Page and the Edge. Legendary Pictures scored the rights to make a movie on Hendrix with Experience Hendrix, the estate that is owned by Jimi’s sister, Janie.

Pioneering rock drummer Mitch Mitchell, of Jimi Hendrix fame, passed away Wednesday. Arguably one of the more un-sung rock stars of the ’60s Mitchell kept the rythm for the world’s greatest guitarist.

Mitchell died in his hotel room of what is suspected to be natural causes (autopsy hasn’t been released). He was on tour with Experience Hendrix, a concert series celebrating Jimi’s work.

De amateurfilm dateert van 40 jaar geleden en komt van een verzamelaar. De film werd 40 jaar geleden gedraaid in een hotelkamer, vertelt Vivid Entertainment, de grootste pornodistributeur ter wereld. Voor Vivid is de film “een seksuele documentaire die een beeld geeft van de rock n’roll in de jaren negentig”.
