Those of you who frequent this blog know that I am a fan of singer/songwriter Derek Webb. On his latest album there is a song called “What Matters More”, and it is INCREDIBLE. Take a few minutes to watch the video while reading the lyrics. Some of you may feel that Derek has a wonderful way of putting words to feelings you have had…

What Matters More – by Derek Webb

You say you always treat people like you like to be
I guess you love being hated for your sexuality
You love when people put words in your mouth
‘Bout what you believe, make you sound like a freak

‘Cause if you really believe what you say you believe
You wouldn’t be so damn reckless with the words you speak
Wouldn’t silently consent when the liars speak
Denyin’ all the dyin’ of the remedy

Tell me, brother, what matters more to you?
Tell me, sister, what matters more to you?

If I can tell what’s in your heart by what comes out of your mouth
Then it sure looks to me like being straight is all it’s about
It looks like being hated for all the wrong things
Like chasin’ the wind while the pendulum swings

‘Cause we can talk and debate until we’re blue in the face
About the language and tradition that he’s comin’ to save
Meanwhile we sit just like we don’t give a shit
About 50,000 people who are dyin’ today

Tell me, brother, what matters more to you?
Tell me, sister, what matters more to you?

Hello everyone! It’s Hump Day and we’re all another day closer to TGIF. As promised, I’m back with another question for you to ponder on. Enjoy! As we wind down the year and think of all that has gone on in the country, one of the most discussed subjects in the media and our homes is healthcare. This subject was one of the major platforms that were included in President Obama’s campaign. This issue is a serious and dire issue due to the fact that there are some 30-40 million adult Americans with little coverage or none at all. This is the only industrialized and advanced nation with such a huge problem. Canada, our neighbors across the border, solved this issue for themselves a long time ago. So, why is it that the greatest nation on Earth has a problem with it? Well, that depends on who you ask. The insurance industry says rising costs and a recessive economy. The Republicans blame the Democrats and vice versa. At this rate our population surely will dwindle in abundance due to this gross negligence. People are getting sick and dying everyday because of this issue that hasn’t been dealt with properly. A lot of people try to take care of their health issues at home with OTC medications and treatments instead of going to the emergency room. The motivation behind this pattern of action or rather lack of proper action is often due to a lack of funds to afford the enormous hospital bill that is often sent shortly after one of these ER visits. The average worker in a low-income household barely has enough money to cover their necessities let alone afford some of these ridiculous premiums that these rich insurance companies charge. I myself have been a witness to such. At my last place of employment when I and others in my company became eligible for the health benefit offered by my company, my boss brought out only one application for 4 of us and brought out 4 waiver sheets. He did such knowing at the salary we were getting paid that we would not be able to afford those benefits and the sadder part of the equation was that we worked closely with the clients that offered the benefit and still couldn’t catch a break! Just the other day, I read a story about a man who had a infection in his leg and didn’t go to the ER because he couldn’t afford it, his friends begged him to go and he wouldn’t, don’t you know, he was found laying in his bed dead the next day by his friends. This has to stop! Point blank period! There is too much at stake for the victims (people who need insurance) to continue this trend of suffering. I know this issue amongst others weighs heavily on the president’s mind, but he’s not the only one with a hand in this. There are senators, congressmen, governors, and many, many more whom also have their say in this issue. At one point and time, there was even a larger amount of idiots(yes, I said idiots!) who were shooting down the idea of helping others at the cost of saving money for the future that isn’t even promised to them! They created a bunch of lies, and tales of deceit, often twisting the truth of the proposed policies that were on the table. My thing is this, if you are opposed to what is being proposed, then what do you have as an alternative? I think marching and calling names and creating chaos, doesn’t quite solve the issue at hand. It just slows down the process and people continually suffer. There is an old saying for this, “If you don’t having nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all”. My version of this statement is a bit more tactful and a lot more explicit but, I will not say such out of respect for the integrity I’d like this post to maintain. Meanwhile the insurance companies sit back, relax ,rest easy and get bailed out by the same people whom they are oppressing. There was even one major former vice presidential candidate, whose name I will not mention out of respect but also I’m not willing to give any more attention to, who had the biggest hand in twisting one of the options that would have come out of the healthcare reform. She riled up a bunch of people whom either have insurance and are therefore in a more privileged situation or just plain ol’ crazy! Once again, I say this must stop! We must stop this hemorrhaging of our moral fabric and goodwill towards our fellow man. In the end we may all differ in opinion on exactly what must be done, but it will be better is something is done than to have nothing done at all! So, back to my question, In your opinion, do you think that healthcare reform with a public option will be worked out and ready to go within the next 12 months? As always comments are deeply appreciated.

I love being complimented. Most days I feel BLAH. I think my head is so big and in pictures it looks

I love being complimented. Most days I feel BLAH. I think my head is so big and in pictures it looks like my eyes are small in comparison to my face. When I look in the mirror I don’t see this but in pictures i’m like UGH. SO i’ve been feeling kinda weird lately. I was wondering if that was because I am ugly on the inside I feel like I am ugly on the outside. People think I am so pretty though. I don’t make eye contact at all, BUT that is one thing I started working on like yesterday, but I hear people stare alot. I know I turn heads but I am so self conscience. I feel like I should have more confidence. I often dream of walking in a room and OWNING it. Really OWNING it not owning it, which I usually do, BUT in a awkward shy way.

Anyways this guy carded me yesterday, and one of the guys standing near the counter was like I look 16. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear that. I want to be forever young, and age gracefully. It sucks cause young ass boys try to holla sometimes and older guys think I am too young, but, I always thought it was nice to look younger. That way when I am older I might still look younger. I never want to look my age. I was feeling like I had matured in the face from all that horrid cigarette smoke. Guess not, either that, or I got my sexy back. My face has cleared up and is glowing again. It was really breaking out and pimply, and oily. It’s real soft, smooth, and glow-y now. I think that’s why I have been getting attention lately. The skin on my face is nice which draws attention.

I have been thinking lately how to deter guys from talking to me anyway they think they can. The same guy who said I look like I was 16 also kinda moaned under his breath at me like MMMMM he wants me or something. I looked at him and he was old and fat. NO THANKS. Not even for money. But anyways what makes men think they can just talk to you like that. Maine. Niggas just be yelling shit at you. I know I am not the only one they do that too. Plenty of us females have to go through that. Some people like it, but damn some of us don’t. I am not going to lie. I did used to like it, depending on who it was. BUT now that I am trying to change. I was thinking when they yell shit at me I could just be like”STFU” or say something shocking and rude and mean. Cause WTF. It’s always someone who knows I would NEVER fuck with them too. Old ass men. Like are you serious?!? You serious serious?

I love to give compliments. I would love to give so many compliments but I am so shy. I am going to try to smile more. Just be nicer to females. I was even going to eventually try to talk to my next door neighbors. Shit I need some friends already. They live next door, and they probably go out. I hope they are at least 21.

Anyways I wish I could give compliments but I fear people will think I am weird. I think people are so interesting and I love people that are nice on the eyes. Or unique looking. Or dressed nice. I wish I could stare and analyze all day. Well maybe not all day but you catch my drift. Just thinking about that and wanted to write.

I stopped writing for a long time. But now that I don’t have to have the fear of anyone reading my shit. As far as family, as long as I don’t leave my window up I can just be blunt. Get my emotions out. Express my feelings raw and explicit. Just be me. I love writing my thoughts. And I have missed it. And it really is a stress reliever. Always was.

The other term in Polanyi’s apparent binary is, as already noted, ‘tacit’, and is familiar from its

The other term in Polanyi’s apparent binary is, as already noted, ‘tacit’, and is familiar from its derivative, ‘taciturn’. (‘Apparent’ because they are neither complementary not opposite, as Polanyi himself indicates they are terms which describe the structure of a ‘dimension’, not separate and isolated alternatives ). Both words have in common their origins in silence, and in that which is passed over in silence. The difference that makes a difference is that, whilst taciturn suggests a reluctance or unwillingness to speak, tacit does not offer even the possibility. . Paralleling the physical principle of ‘subsidiary awareness’ outlined above, to be tacit is to be constitutive of expressibility but to take no part in that expression. Though it has position within the body of the speaker, that position is disposition. In contrast to explicit knowledge which folds out in the direction of a metaphorically external, distant object, tacit knowledge stays close to home and the condition of the subject. In the spectrum of knowing and being, tacit knowledge blends into being.

The overall image that Polanyi provides is one in which an understanding of knowledge and knowing maps onto our experience of being the being at the centre of phenomenal space and makes consistent use of metaphors of space as well as the different sensory modalities which function at different spatial removes. That which is tacit and which is close to us, or which is interior to us, does not extend into space and cannot be visualized and objectified. If it is sensed at all this sense is felt rather than observed, a sensorial engagement appropriate to its proximal intimacy. That knowledge which is tacit is held in the necessary silence of our being. As knowledge becomes explicit it coalesces into another being beyond the limits of our skin and the limits of our arms. Performing its primal act, knowledge rolls out toward the horizon, leading our eyes to the object created by that unfolding.

First there was facebook, and then there were a bunch of games for people to play on facebook. Today

First there was facebook, and then there were a bunch of games for people to play on facebook.

Today, sociality is becoming explicit in a variety of ways. What I mean is that our cultural institutions are, to an increasing degree, solidifying sociality into a quantifiable and manipulable force. Sociality is now a game, a goal, a method, a tweet, a status update, a friend count, a text, and a host of other measurable units. The point is not just that we have all these new units of sociality; it’s that we are slowly but surely making social interaction into an object of social consciousness. Social networking sites, social gaming sites, twitter, and real time news polls, are part of the same trend to make explicit or conscious our interaction with other people.

What worries me about this trend is that some things are better left implicit and in the form of a fluid practice rather than a static institution. Coming from an analytic philosophical tradition, I realize that the previous sentence may seem cryptic and unhelpful, but I think I can make the point more clear.

There are many examples I think, of values or goals that are best fulfilled by not trying to achieve them in a conscious way. Take the person who is tries really hard to be funny. This person is always thinking to himself “how can I say something funny?” But inevitably such an indelicate and direct approach to being humorous fails. People recognize that the person is trying too hard or that the jokes are forced. The same goes for any number of other activities. Take the person who is playing basketball and thinks to himself “I’m going to make a great play on our next possession.” As we all recognize, such thinking is nonsense. Great plays come about as side effects of playing hard or playing with intensity. Highlight moments can’t be reliably produced by the direct intention of producing them; you have to get at them obliquely. They arise naturally out of practice and dedication.

Think also of dating advice. Any number of men and women, when giving advice to the opposite sex, say things like “just be yourself and don’t try too hard.” The point is that the someone who approaches a member of the opposite sex as if they are “on a mission” come off as fake and mechanical (think also of business people that can’t stop “networking” and how obnoxious it is to endure their fakery). The people who are best at meeting others aren’t trying to meet people; rather, such people are just having a good time, or are genuinely interested in things, or are just nice. Meeting people comes about as a side effect for such people.

One last example. Take a kid lying in his bed on christmas eve. The more this kid focuses on trying to go to sleep, the more he will stay awake. We’ve all experienced this feeling. The more we try to will ourselves asleep so that morning will come, the more we stare at the ceiling. Sleep has to be attained through the back door; we have to count sheep or think about something other than sleep itself.

I think sociality is the same way. It always waits in the background as a fluid setting for all our other actions. We go to work, to school, and to the movies. We cook and compete and fight, but all these activities are always with other people. In the course of our other activities we are always navigating the fluid waters of greetings, platitudes, jokes, and conversation. The new emphasis on social everything is taking an elaborate and unconscious skill and transforming it into an object of scrutiny and work, destroying its spontaneity and playfulness in the process. Sociality is reduced to information. Notice how this model of sociality is dulling our ability to have conversations and interact with other people in satisfying ways. Text conversations are slow and drawn out, and one can always wait a few minutes before replying. The art of repartee, changing the subject, acknowledgment and reading someone’s face or mood are all lost. The same is true on facebook and all other social media: social exchanges are reduced to sound bytes, hanging in electronic space, awaiting a response. In other words: just because we can share more information with more people does not mean we have become more social.

You might ask: why then do you have a blog? Are you not just participating in this mechanical model of sociality? I answer: no, because my blog has never been aimed at sociality. Rather it has always been about trying to stimulate my thinking on philosophical subjects. Any social interaction I get from it comes about purely as a side effect.

Say what they want to hear by not saying it The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly

Say what they want to hear by not saying it

The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly may actually be your worst enemy. Read that sentence over if you have to, but it’s true. If you’re writing your personal statement and a part of the prompt asks you to identify a very specific point (i.e.: why you would be a good intellectual fit at the school, etc.), your essay should never directly restate the prompt or come anywhere close to restating it, for that matter. Say it implicitly.

Your written personal accounts should tell exactly why you’d be an excellent fit or why school X’s admissions director wants you without ever explicitly stating why. If you find yourself unable to write out the perfect life item you think will get you into the program you desire, then you need to come up with another example, or you’ll surely end up with the boring and pitifully grammar school-esque “I would be an excellent fit because…” sentence.

This in mind, you should venture off topic a bit if, in the end, you use your prolixity to make a point. Don’t be intimidated at the prospect of going off topic. After all, by simply writing down your thoughts, you’ll come up with more material than you need (a good problem to have) and you may just find your thoughts wandering enough to an even better exampleto address the prompt (another good problem to have). If the prompt asks you to name a time when you overcame adversity, summing it up in one sentence just won’t hack it. Expand your thoughts, including what you learned from your experience, how it has improved you as a person, why that will carry you through the next level of school or life. Never be afraid to delve into details in an important aspect of your life. If an event had a significant enough impact on you for you to be addressing it in a personal statement, you clearly don’t want to leave the reader with any questions because you felt that preemptively answering those questions would have taken your work down the wrong path. Implicitly from all this, the reader will easily see exactly why you feel you’d be a good fit at their program. They’ll be even more impressed when you’ve answered the question clearly and masterfully, but they have to remind themselves what the prompt was in the first place.

Write on!

I feel it is my duty to document the utter insanity that went down last night in Hollywood, so help

I feel it is my duty to document the utter insanity that went down last night in Hollywood, so help me dubstep.

Holy fucking Croydon.

Last night I went to Avalon for the first time, a gigantic club with legendary status and legions of loyal followers. My broke ass prefers smaller, dirtier, weirder places but a sweet new friend had hooked up the guest list action last minute and I was stoked. I paid a psychotic amount for parking and threw myself to the mayhem, aka the line.

Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of beautiful young people (and some ugly ones) were crushed against the side of the building either direction, a seething mass of humanity with an energy level that could have powered all the neon on the Sunset Strip. When presented with a ridiculous queue like this, there are two choices: go to the end and wait with everyone else, or say fuck that and worm your way to the front. As I was on the guestlist there was no way in hell I was waiting, but even just getting to the list entrance was an insane, hour-long endeavor. Pretty girls were trying to push their way to the front and getting elbows to the boobies by the crowd who was not having it. The bouncer kept screaming at people to step back, dumb guys were trying to pick fights, and it was crotch to butt the whole way. No one was moving.

The computers were down at the side entrance and they were only letting in people with $20 hard cash, even though the cover was not supposed to increase in price until 11PM. At that point, what are you going to do? Turn around and go home? Needless to say those who had bought will-call tickets prior to the show and were now being turned away were slightly miffed. Finally I get to the front and tell them I am supposed to get walked in by So-And-So, because I am VIP and special and all that shit. Apparently I said the right name.

“You better not be FUCKIN’ with me, little girl…” the bouncer says, giving me the stink eye.

“No!” I insisted, with a laugh. I do not make it a habit to fuck with people twice my height and three times my size.

So I get walked in by a new friend and make my way through the crush of people in the smoking area and into the bar and second stage area. House music. I press on into the main room.

Holy shit! WHAT a venue! Is this the most amazing club I have ever been to? Quite possibly. The Avalon building has as much soul and character as the crowd did not. Stunning architectural beauty, a temple to the party gods, the home of a billion screams of delight, a palace dedicated to wild nights. I would love to rent this place out with a couple hundred of my closest friends and party until noon.

But last night it was more like 1500 of my closest friends. As I arrived 12th Planet was up on the balcony slamming beats out of his fingers onto the dance floor, oh wait sorry I meant THE MOSH PIT. The bottom floor of Avalon was taken over by a swirling human tornado of sweaty boys, 10% dancing, 60% pushing and 30% venting sexual frustration (The reason you’re not getting laid? YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE. Just a guess).

12th Planet drops “Explicit” by Emalkay and I think oh shit: motherfuckas about to get BEAT! The blood is going to bounce! But shortly thereafter he stops the tunes and takes the mic, telling the near-riot on the floor to chill the fuck out and that hey, maybe the ladies want to dance too. A female-pitched scream fills the venue because yes, we do want to dance and no, we do not want to get punched in the face while we do. The dance floor then fills with people who HAVE gotten laid in the last year and the melee is taken down a notch.

Props to 12th Planet. As the music continues on, you can tell there are still some guys who want to mosh, who are pushing other boys and trying to start fights. But in the middle of these idiot brutes are other men, using their eye contact and energy to calm the aggression on the dance floor instead of incite it. One tall boy with palms down is making wide sweeps where moshing starts to erupt, while another guy makes a slit-throat gesture to his friend who is trying to start shit with strangers. To them, and to all you boys in the world who make an effort to calm the hot-headed, pushing, shit-talking boys who never matured mentally past the age of sixteen: thank you. I really hope you got laid last night.

Rusko comes on to the main stage with a shock, wearing green glowstick glasses and causing the entire energy of the Avalon to capsize towards his side of the room. People are leaping off platforms, running, screaming, pushing. LA is now Rusko’s hometown and this dubstep rock star obviously adores his status as a new local king. A dynamic performer with massive tracks to back it up, Rusko created a state of pure fucking pandemonium in that venue for his entire set. Someone was waving around a sign that says “RUSKO IS DUBSTEP,” a phrase which will not doubt elicit a few choice thoughts out of the self-appointed genre police out there.

I die hearing new tracks out of producers like Rusko; I want them, I want them, I want them! I have to have them! I wish my super-dubstep-freak friends up and down the West Coast could have been there last night to experience this next wave of hype-bass party music. Rusko played all the favorites as well, bangers that meshed perfectly with the bedlam on the dance floor, picking people up and throwing them down. Crunchy, twisted bass like the brainwaves of a mental patient descends on a thousand heads, and a thousand bodies jump up while two thousand hands spank the air like a naughty school girl. It is mayhem plus bedlam times infinity. Pure pandemonium.

I am standing by a ledge and when Rusko comes on we all jump up on it and dance in the spare space for about ten minutes before security pulls us down. A jaw-dropping blond wearing no underwear (indeed we all saw China) beside me is flinging her hair to the sky and screaming: “Roo-sko! Roo-sko! I love you Roo-sko!!!!”

“It’s RU-sko,” her consort says into her ear.

“Oh. Ru-sko!!! Ru-sko!!! I love you Ru-sko!!!!”

Ah, Hollywood. Wow so this is what A LOT of people do on a typical Friday night out: wait in line for hours to spend a day’s worth of earnings for parking and tickets and alcohol. There were a lot of assholes in the crowd (weird, in Hollywood? Assholes? No…); I can’t remember the last time I had been shoved so much. Not bumped in normal crowd movement, but shoved, on purpose, out of aggression with a dirty look dripping off the pusher’s face like a leaky diaper. My MO is always to smile, which disarms the pusher who is used to (and wanting) a fuck-you gaze right back. My ninja weapon is kindness, and I will slice off your face with it.

I will say: the show was absolutely worth it AND the beers were cheap: $5. It was awesome running into a few friends who like me had crawled out of the underground, all with holy-shit-can-you-believe-this-crowd looks on their faces. Dubstep has come a long way, baby and the next time Rusko plays in LA it just might be in a stadium. People were salivating with bubbles at the sides of their mouths, writhing in ecstasy and probably on ecstasy, throwing clothes into the air, jumping off booths, leaping onto stage, and it was beautiful. Many in the Avalon were just out for a Friday night and had never heard dubstep or Rusko before; indeed I talked to several people pressed against me in line who were there for Timo Maas and didn’t even know who the other DJs on the lineup were. I bet they got their heads blown off last night- I know I did.

And for anyone out there STILL whining about dubstep being boring or too slow, all I can say is open your fucking ears and get out to a show like this; it was definitely one of the wildest crowds I have ever been in, lit on fire by a sound whose power is absolutely undeniable.

WOW has dubstep mutated and grown, like a nuclear child created on a passion-filled evening lit not by candle but the glow of the apocalypse. Where this wild-eyed creature will roam next is anybody’s guess, but one thing is certain: like all the crazy freaks in this world, it has a home in LA.

Hi again all, sorry for the lack of updates, I’m staying with family and haven’t been motivated to update. Plus nobody has left me a comment recently! Meanies!

Anyway a guy from an adult mens magazine magazine rang me and said they’ve accepted my photos to be published in adult mens magazines in December 09 and January 2010 so I’ll be getting cheques in the mail soon and when I get the pics I’ll post em for you all. I’m so excited!

No story this time, but I’m back in Coffs Harbour tomorrow and should be able to update then with either some more photos or continue my story.

Meanwhile I’m just starting to sell some of my ideas on Cafepress on apparel and merchandise, I am thinking of branching out to cuckold and hotwife logos. Would any of you be interested in seeing some new hotwife and/or cuckold ideas on t-shirts, g-strings, etc? I would accept any suggestions and requests for designs. I also think it would be to create a cuckold lifestyle magazine as I haven’t heard of any, so I might gather up some resources and create a web article/magazine type thing for cuckold/hotwifes.

Please vote in the NEW poll in the sidebar.

Comments or thoughts?(let me know you’re still out there)

Leanard and Sensiper, writing on the role of ‘tacit knowledge’ in group innovation make the followin

Leanard and Sensiper, writing on the role of ‘tacit knowledge’ in group innovation make the following claim:

Knowledge exists on a spectrum. At one extreme, it is almost completely tacit, that is semiconscious and unconscious knowledge held in people’s heads and bodies. At the other end of the spectrum, knowledge is almost completely explicit or codified, structured and accessible to people other than the individuals originating it. Most knowledge of course exists between the extremes. Explicit elements are objective, rational and created in the ‘then and there’, while the tacit elements are subjective experiential and created in the ‘here and now’. (1998: 113)

These terms, ‘tacit’ and ‘explicit’ come from the writings of Michael Polanyi and signify types of knowing which it may be informative to relate to the overall schema informing this essay. In Polanyi’s terms, explicit knowledge is simply that which can be communicated in symbolic form and has some overlap with ‘propositional’ or ‘declarative’ knowledge. Explicit knowledge is typically ‘know that’ in character and corresponds with that which can be written, spoken, represented diagrammatically, or articulated in the form of instructions, rules, laws, and heuristics. Explicit knowledge, in metaphorical terms, approaches the condition of the object in that it can be fixed, outlined, and rendered permanent through its encoding into language or other form.

The concept of tacit knowledge has been extended by writers since Polanyi such that it is sometimes taken to include almost any form of knowledge which is simply not expressed, (Leonard and Sensiper, 1998, Koskinen and Vanharanta, 2002). Polanyi’s original understanding of the term was more precise however. Polanyi saw tacit knowledge as providing the fundamental components from which other, more explicit forms of knowing might proceed, and as underpinning the most apparently autonomous, conscious, and explicit, see Tsoukas (1996). Tacit knowledge may include the linguistic and cultural contextual information which is necessary for an article of knowledge to be understood, or in a more physically embodied sense, it might consist of those elements of perception which are unavailable to consciousness but nevertheless contribute to conscious observation. In the essay ‘The Structure of Consciousness’ in Knowing and Being, (1969) Polanyi gives the example of our ability to see the world in three dimensions. This ability is the result of our having two eyes, set a few inches apart, each capturing a slightly different version of the visual field. These two images, combined with the extra information provided by the differences between them, are processed by the visual system in the brain to produce the final image which is presented to consciousness; an image containing the dimension of ‘depth’ that was not present in either of the originating images. What is significant here is that the images presented separately to the left and right eyes are not available to us consciously, and in fact we would have no way of bringing these images to consciousness (apart from closing one eye of course, which simultaneously dismisses this kind of depth perception). The three dimensional image, which Polanyi referred to as constituting our ‘focal awareness’ cannot be decomposed back into its constituent ‘subsidiary’ elements. Whilst the observable scene is explicit and can be spoken of descriptively, the subsidiary materials from which it emerges are necessarily tacit and, whilst obviously ‘known’, inasmuch as they figure in the process of cognition and composition, necessarily remain in silence. As Polanyi observed in The Tacit Dimension, ‘we can know more than we can tell’, (Polanyi, 1983: 4).

It is significant that, for Polanyi, the processes through which tacit knowledge is composed and utilized do not necessarily ever become available as explicit knowledge. Rather, such accumulations of subsidiary sensation and experience give rise to the play of hunches, guesses, intuitive leaps, and gut responses which he referred to as ‘passions’. Tacit knowledge is not sterile and distant, but is rather threaded throughout with emotion and responses close to the heart of the person. It is this understanding which underpins and gives the name to Polanyi’s best known work, ‘Personal Knowledge’ (Polanyi, 1958).

Other Knowledge Binaries

Like the distinction that Polanyi makes between tacit and explicit knowledge, many taxonomies of knowledge rely on an apparent binary division which separates what are seen as two prototypically different forms of knowing. A list of such pairings, particularly as they are applied to mathematics, is provided by Haapsalo and Kadijevic

• conceptual vs. practical knowledge

• manifest (structural) vs. instrumental content

• knowing that – knowing how

• declarative vs. procedural knowledge

• facts/propositional vs. skills/procedural knowledge

• hierarchies of cognitive units – condition-action rules

• relational representations – condition-action rules

• understanding – algorithmic performance

• conceptual competence – procedural competence

• rich vs. poor in relationships/algorithms

• theological vs. schematic knowledge

• deductive vs. empirical knowledge

• meaningful vs. mechanical knowledge

• logical/relational vs. instrumental understanding

• connected networks – sequences of actions

• connections between conceptions – computational skills

• words specifying concept – mental images/processes

• definitions/connections – rules/connotations

• proceptual vs. procedural thinking

• structural vs. operational thinking

I love porn. We’re all adults here so I can drop the pretence. I’m not going to lie about it. I’m a healthy, 28-year-old red-blooded male with no inhibitions. I’m not a prude. Nothing offends me. Plus I guarantee that if you were to check the hard drives of another 10,000 men they will all have remnants of naughtiness on them. We’re animals. It’s what we do. See, like only a select few species of animal, we have sex for pleasure. Not simply to procreate. I wouldn’t say I have an addiction, though… yet. But my strong compulsions towards adult entertainment (and sex as a whole) would suggest I will do soon. I guess it derived from an early age. Given the type of teenager I was and the company I kept, there was only one thing I wanted to be studying during schooldays. And that was a big pair of tits plastered across a porno magazine. Carl would clear out Costcutter so we could all huddle around the forbidden fruit, tucking into a Twix over ‘The Wreck’, hiding our stash as soon as grown folk appeared.

Like I said. It’s was embedded into me from an early age. And now I’ve simply taken it with me into later life. Plus, seeing as I’ve been single for just over a year having come out of a 10-year relationship, being devoid of female flesh has seriously started to take its toll. And with my penchant for brunettes spiralling out of control and getting stronger and stronger by the day, I need to channel my overwhelming desires in other ways.

Yes. I know the simple solution would be to go out and have a one-night stand. But before anyone even advocates it, I’ll stop you in your tracks. Don’t bother. It’s not my style. It never has been. It never will be. I don’t get pleasure from sticking my tongue down a stranger’s throat. Let alone other parts of my body. For me to do that I’d need to be in love with the person.

Back on track having digressed somewhat, the point of this post was to get off my chest the absolute Empress I’ve just seen in a German amateur production. Believe me, I’ve seen a lot of porn stars in my time. But this one right here has turned me on tenfold. Like something I’ve never experienced before. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, the hottest scene I’ve ever seen. Absolutely everything I love about the female form that gets me feeling far too lascivious was there for me to see. This brunette was simply smoking.

And when you have a deeply entrenched leg/shoe/foot fetish like I do (come on, I’m not the only one), the patent leather heels she was wearing, which defined her calf muscles beautifully, seriously whetted my sexual appetite. Charged. I’m too far gone this evening. Right about now I have an overwhelming desire to unwrap a lovely young lady.

PS: The attached photo is not the brunette in question. I refrained from posting her as I’m trying hard not to allow my blogs to go down that road. There’s websites for that sort of thing. Unfortunately though, if there’s a few things I love in life more than music, it’s women, words and undiluted thoughts and feelings.

The formal and informal mandates placed on an organization consist of the various “musts” that it confronts. Actually, it is surprising how few organizations know precisely what they are (and are not) formally mandated to do. Typically, few members of any organization have ever read, for example, the relevant legislation, ordinances, charters, articles, and contracts that outline the organization’s formal mandates. Many organizational members also do not clearly understand what informal mandates—typically political in the broadest sense—their organization faces. It may not be surprising, then, that most organizations make one or all of the following three fundamental mistakes. First, not knowing what they must do, they are unlikely to do it. Second, they may believe they are more tightly constrained in their actions than they actually are. Third, they may assume that if they are not explicitly told to do something, they are not allowed to do it.

Not big fans of Trey Songz. But the audacity of the title made us watch it and, let’s just say, it was a treat. It’s like he took the message in Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” and upped it a notch.

I had a photoshoot with a Newcastle photographer yesterday afternoon for his website and web-magazine. It was hard because the temperature was an unbearable 40 degrees celsius and I am no good in the heat. I’ve never seen so many flies in one place! It was shot at Birdie Beach, nudist beach, but there was a LOT of clothed people there too. See some examples:

I’m off to Sydney this afternoon to do a nude glamour shoot for an artist to put into an exhibition. I may also be doing an implied and/or explicit hardcore boy/girl and maybe even boy/girl/boy which is intended for an alternate exhibition. I’m also discussing ideas with an artist who wants to paint me, so I’ll keep you updated on how those go. In Sydney I will have no internet, so this is my update to cover the next few days while I’m there til I get back to Central Coast.

Michelle_Jo – my cuck loves the idea of assisting me while I play with girls or boys or both that I mentioned in this post, but I am not into him prepping them for me. I have never been a fan of him blowing my bull, etc. It is all about me, but I sometimes struggle with that a bit honestly, because I love seeing him in pleasure.

Not sure if I’ll have time to update while in Sydney, so you may have to wait til I get back.
