Everytime we go grocery shopping, we always notice people (especially kids) eating inside the supermarket.  There are always empty packets of chocolates or junk foods scattered on the floor or left on some shelves.

From where I came from, eating/drinking inside a supermarket is strictly prohibited.  There are exceptional cases though such as someone who feels so hungry/thirsty and who pledges to a person in-charge that he will pay the cost of the consumed item keeping the empty container until the cashier was able to scan the barcode and charge it against the customer.  Without proper permission, the person eating/drinking inside is likely to be considered as a shoplifter and usually, ends up being escorted by proper authorities to the store’s Administration Office for interrogation.  Usually, supermarkets come with Secret Agents (who pretend to be shoppers) and CCTVs are installed everywhere.  Even in smaller supermarkets where Secret Agents are not present and/or CCTVs are not installed, the general shoppers are careful and tend to play it safe.

In the supermarket where we go often though, I feel that there are a lot of eaten/drank items left unpaid.  There are a lot of sales persons around and I know some of them noticed some people consuming things inside.  They seem to never care.  It’s like an ordinary event for them.

Last night, while we were on the escalator going down to the grocery section, we saw a couple looking inside a box of junk foods.  The man took a pack of chips (potato chips, I guess) from inside the box.  To my surprise,  he opened the  pack.  He tried it.  He seemed delighted with the taste so he had his wife try it too.  I was not sure if the wife liked it.  They looked decent so I dropped the thought that they were just tasting.  But, hey wait, the man returned the opened pack of chips inside the box.  And the woman?  She did not say or do a thing (like stopping him?).  Then they left like they did nothing wrong, like they just did some legal taste-testing.

I get surprised at the sight of people doing some not-so-right things looking so innocent about their actions. I get surprised at the number of people doing similar things, making this appear to be an everyday ordinary thing.  I get surprised to know that there seems to be no rules set against these actions causing the personnel to just don’t care (except maybe, the owner himself).

From where I came from, sales clerks,  baggers, security guards, care.  From where I came from, shoppers know what’s right from what’s not.  No one has to tell them.  It’s common sense – You opened, tried or damaged it, you pay for it.

See, for the past several months, I’ve been involved in a rather massive project that involved a whole lot of planning, phonecalls at 3 in the morning, pulling some strings and essentially laying down all the groundwork for one truly awesome undertaking.

I am part of a concert production & promotions crew known as IMG Live! All you have to know about IMG Live! is that we’re here to give you- all our fellow music fans right here in the Philippines- the world-class live music outdoor production you all deserve to see.

Check this out: We’re flying in twenty (yes you read it right!) international recording artists- all who had hits in the late 80’s, 90’s and this decade- each and every one performing only their hits, onstage, live- for all their Pinoy fans to come see, for one out-of-this-world evening.

Sounds unbelievable, yeah?  I know.  I felt the same way myself.  Right until we were talking to the artists and managers themselves.  And man, lemme tell you- they’re all looking forward to coming over to the Philippines.

Who do we have flying in?

• Tracy Chapman.  She’s won Grammies and all kinds of special honors, and is one of those artists that made it cool to be socially aware.  Best known for her hits “Give Me One Reason”, “Baby Can I Hold You”, “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution” and “Fast Car”.

• Frankie J.  Accomplished R&B singer-songwriter-producer Frankie J is made famous by his songs “Don’t Wanna Try”, “Obsession (No Es Amor)”, “How To Deal”, “Suga Suga” (with Baby Bash), and his own cover of “More Than Words”

• P.M. Dawn.  Remember “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” and “Lookin’ Through Patient Eyes”?  It was the awesome stylings of PM Dawn that made those hits possible.  Other hits from this pop/rap duo: “I’d Die Without You”, “Paper Doll”, “Downtown Venus”, “I Had No Right” and “Gotta Be (Movin’ On Up)”.

• Exposé.  The all-girl trio known as Exposé were tearing up the charts not only with dance hits “Come Go With Me”, “Point of No Return”, “What You Don’t Know” and “Let Me Be The One”, but also with more mellow and laid-back tunes such as “Seasons Change”, “When I Looked at Him”, “As Long As I Can Dream”, “I’ll Say Goodbye For The Two of Us” and “I’ll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me”.

• Baby Bash.  Baby Bash frequently collaborates with, and writes for other artists, but also has several hit songs to his credit:  ”Cyclone” (featuring T-Pain) (2007), “That’s How I Go” (featuring Mario and Lil’ Jon) (2009) and “Suga Suga” (with Frankie J) (2003).

• Paula DeAnda.  R&B singer-songwriter Paula DeAnda broke into the music scene in 2006, already with four hits to her name: “Doing Too Much” (with Baby Bash), “When It Was Me”, “Easy” (with Lil Wayne or Bow Wow, depending on which version you got), and “Walk Away (Remember Me)” (with the D.E.Y.).

• TQ.  TQ may be considered the pioneer of “Thug R&B”,  His breakthrough single “Westside” was one of the biggest singles of 1999.

• Diana King.  Diana King is best known for her monster pop/dance hit “Shy Guy” (1995).  Other hits to her credit include her covers of “Ain’t Nobody” (1995) and “I Say a Little Prayer” (1997), as well as the pop hit “L-L-Lies” (1997).

• JoJo.  She’s cute as a button, and she’s had film projects (Aquamarine and RV, among others) on top of her hectic singing career.  Known for her hits “Baby It’s You”, “Leave (Get Out)”, “Too Little, Too Late” and “Beautful Girls Reply”.

Took that bit from a blog post I wrote a few weeks back.  There’s definitely more, and personally, I can’t wait to reveal who else is coming.  Looks like I’m gonna have to write another post about that soon.

So, keep your eyes peeled for our star-studded show: we call it the Then And Now Concert Series.  It happens on a Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.  The dudes behind it are the dudes of IMG Live!, and this massive music mashup is a John Usi production.

At this point, it’s really more than a music festival than an actual concert.  It’s got twenty international acts, including JoJo, Diana King, TQ, Baby Bash, Paula DeAnda, P.M. Dawn, Exposé, Tracy Chapman, and so much more.

I’ll reveal more stuff about this huge-ass event as soon as details go public.

In the meantime, go fire up your hard disks, dig up the old classics, and re-learn all the lyrics in time for concert night on February 6.  I’ll be seeing you all at the concert!

But will the First Click Free Program help prevent free access of news by users and slow down the declining profits of old media? Or will it make any difference at all?

The baby has been crying so I wasn’t able to complete my thoughts. ( I take care of babies for a living). When Chloe was opening up to me *rofl* she told me she didn’t know if she wanted to still be Muslim. She said she was thinking about going back to being a hassidic jew.  Chloe was raised a Jew, which is crazy because she now has a swasticka on her arm LOL. She said she doesn’t feel anything when she prays. I suggested she go to the masjid to talk to the imam, and make some sister friends.  She said she didn’t think it would help. I just listened. She said she worried that if she left Islam we would break up with her. I said I wouldn’t, but now that I think about it, I would. And before anyone starts calling me a bigot, some of my family is Jewish. I told her that it was something she and DH would have to discuss. But I do know he would never be with someone who didn’t wear hijab. She said hassidic jews cover their hair. I told her a snood isn’t the same as a hijab.

Anyways she has all of a sudden been calling dh all day. She told him she had to go, because she wanted to watch some movie. Then she called him back to let him know she was still watching the movie. * rolls eyes*

DH says that I will get over it, we will see. I hope I don’t torture her, it’s not Islamic. I’m still mad about this whole thing that I think I will just start using her real name. Chloe isn’t her real name.

DH talked to me this morning while I was driving to work( he was coming home from his second job). He was reassuring me that no one can ever come close to me. That I’ve been with him so long, that he would never be legally tied to anyone but me blah blah blah.

He has a real estate meeting tonight so I wont see him right away when I come home. He is frying fish for me, because I wanted some. This is not going to get him out of the dog house. He is trying to be extra sweet to me, and initiating sex every night. I need to go calm down, all this fuming isn’t good for me.

I recently watched the film Milk starring Sean Penn and directed by Gus Van Sant, a bio-pic about San Francisco’s first openly gay elected official Harvey Milk, on DVD. I was pleased I did as I found it very interesting and I’d not previously known much about him or his life. One thing did puzzle me though. In the 1970s in San Francisco there was a religious, marxist, socialist group calling themselves The Peoples Temple. Harvey Milk was a known and ardent supporter of the group, led by their ‘pastor’ Jim Jones. Jones billed himself as a humanitarian to the outside world and God to his followers. He was, infact, a maniac who led over 900 men, women and children to their deaths in the jungles of Guyana in 1978. Newspaper exposes on Jones’ brutal treatment of his followers and criminal activity had been reported as early as 1972 but were largely ignored until it was too late. Both Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, and other officials, were supporters of Jones and the temple and both were assasinated just over a week after the Guyana deaths by former SF City Supervisor Dan White. However, there is no mention of this in the film whatsoever. It’s not even referenced or alluded to. I understand that in a biopic it’s usually not possible to mention everything in a person’s life, however given the level of Milk and Moscone’s involvement in the temple, Milk wrote a letter defending Jones to then US President Jimmy Carter and Moscone refused to have Jones investigated even after his human rights violations became public knowledge. I really feel it should have been mentioned. Do check the film out just don’t expect to be getting the full story. Thanks for reading.

The blogosphere is abuzz with news of the latest global warming scandal.  A latter day “Daniel Ellsberg” has released the climate equivalent of the Pentagon Papers onto the web.

In 1971 former Defense Department employee Daniel Ellsberg  turned over  a large collection of Pentagon  Vietnam War related documents   to the New York Times.  Recently an unknown whistler blower released 61 megabytes of  documents along with       emails involving communications between Professor Phil Jones, Director of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, and various other scientists who support the claim that humans can raise  air temperatures by  increasing the amount of the magical  atmospheric gas  carbon dioxide (CO2).

Some of the old media are reporting this scandal, but most seem to be ignoring it.

John Delingpole on the London Telegraph site suggests:  “The Global Warming myth (aka AGW; aka ManBearPig) has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka Hadley CRU) and released 61 megabytes of confidential files onto the internet. (Hat tip: Watts Up With That)”

Andrew Bolt of the Herald Sun suggests “the 1079 emails and 72 documents seem indeed evidence of a scandal involving most of the most prominent scientists pushing the man-made warming theory – a scandal that is one of the greatest in modern science. I’ve been adding some of the most astonishing in updates below – emails suggesting conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organized resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more. If it is as it now seems, never again will “peer review” be used to shout down skeptics.”

Marc Sheppard points out the hypocrisy of Jones, et.al. criticizing the funding of their opponents.    Of the two documents that  mention funding for global warming claims it’s “the second document (potential-funding.doc) that tells the more compelling tale.  In addition to four government sources of potential CRU funding, it lists an equal number of “energy agencies” they might put the bite on.  Three — the Carbon Trust, the Northern Energy Initiative and the Energy Saving Trust – are UK-based consultancy and funding specialists promoting “new energy” technologies with the goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The fourth – Renewables North West — is an American company promoting the expansion of solar, wind and geothermal energy in the Pacific Northwest.”

These revelations aren’t the first that question  claims about global warming.  Lawrence Solomon reported that the Enron Corporation pushed global warming claims  in the 1990’s because of a desire to profit from trading  carbon credits.   Enron also felt it would benefit from encouraging use of  its natural gas holdings  over coal and petroleum.  Former Enron official Jeff Shields  has been associated with Renewables North West.

Will the old media continue to  ignore  evidence  that global warming is a fraud, or will they decide to expose it like they did Watergate and other past scandals?    Have old media reporters been ignoring the scandal because they are being paid to, or are they just too lazy to investigate claims of fraud?

In den nächsten Wochen habe ich zu tun. Ich muss endlich mal an dem Buch weiterarbeiten und wer weiß, was es heißt so ein Exemplar zu schreiben, weiß auch, dass mit dem fertig geschriebenen Buch die Arbeit erst beginnt.

Man schreibt und klingelt Verlage an und schleimt sich bei den Miezen im Vorzimmer ein: „Hörn’se mal Frau Erika, ich habe da ein ganz tolles Manuskript, dass ich Ihnen gern mal schicken würde!“ Weil Frau Erika meistens schon bis Mittag dutzende dieser Klinkenputz-Anrufe hinter sich hat, tüftle ich gerade an einem eigenen, ganz neuen Konzept, wie ich der Dame mein Exposé schmackhaft machen könnte. Auch gute Bücher müssen – genauso wie die schlechten –  erstmal an den Mann bzw. Frau Erika gebracht werden. Das Zauberwort heißt m.E. schlicht: Überzeugen!

Vielleicht mache es so wie Frank Abagnale jr. in „Catch me if you can“: Direkt hinlatschen, mit nem Goldkettchen vor Frau Erikas Nase rumfuchteln und fragen, ob sie das Schmuckstück gerade verloren hat. Mal gucken, was passiert. Ansonsten halte ich in den nächsten Tagen, Wochen und Monaten natürlich meine Leser mit sensationellen Fotos bei Laune. Hier schon mal ein kleiner Vorgeschmack…

Exposé NetMuseum Projekt – Tomaselli Julian / Tripolt Jakob

Für unser Projekt hatten wir uns zuerst für ein kleines Privatmuseum in Bregenz entschieden, unsere Wahl viel auf das Thurn und Taxis Museum in Bregenz. Bei der Vorort-Besichtigung wurden wir dann von einem verschlossenen Museum überrascht, es befindet sich gerade in der Umbauphase zwischen zwei Ausstellungen. Deshalb musste eine Alternative her, nach reiflicher Überlegung entschieden wir uns für das Rolls-Royce Museum in Dornbirn, da es für unsere Zwecke ideal schien. Dieses Museum liegt etwas versteckt in Dornbirn und wird von der Öffentlichkeit wenig wahrgenommen, ist jedoch das weltweit größte Museum für Rolls-Royce Fahrzeuge. Der Onlineauftritt stammt aus dem Jahre 2001 und ist dementsprechend veraltet.

Um eine möglichst große Auswahl von Ideen zu erhalten haben wir als erstes ein Brainstorming durchgeführt, und alle Ideen notiert die uns eingefallen sind, dabei haben wir weder die Durchführbarkeit noch die finanziellen Aspekte berücksichtigt um möglichst offen und unvoreingenommen an das Thema heran zu gehen. Dabei haben wir verschiedene Ideen entwickelt die Einerseits im Museum installiert werden können, oder andererseits rein-onlinebasiert sind. Ziel ist es eine Brücke zwischen dem Museum vor Ort und einem Internetauftritt bzw. dem Besucher Zuhause zu schaffen.

Der Inhaber des Museums war sehr an einer Umsetzung intressiert und wie in einem persönlichen Gespräch klar wurde, auch an ausgefallenen Ideen die eine Besonderheit aufweisen, bzw. das Museum von anderen Museen klar zu
