Lofts @ Cherokee Studios by Pugh + Scarpa

Cherokee Lofts will be the most advanced and distinctive building of its kind in Los Angeles. It will be the first “green” LEED (Leadership in Energy and En- vironmental Design) Gold Certified building in Hollywood per the U.S. Green Building Council certification system and it will be the first LEED Gold Certi- fied mixed-use or market-rate multifamily building in Southern California.

The development will pay homage to the significant musical and Hollywood history of Cherokee Recording Studios, MGM Studios before it, and all the artists who recorded music on the site from Frank Sinatra to David Bowie to Dave Mathews. Its unique architectural form and integrated function create a high performing building that is an expression of the environmental and cultural context in which it is built. Simply put, Cherokee Lofts will represent the preeminent realization of green design, form, and function in the epicenter of the entertainment capital of the world. It is the 2007 Westside Urban Forum Westside Prize Winner.

The lofts will range in size from 1,000 square feet to 2,000 square feet, with unique and distinctive floor plans. Seven of the lofts will be two-story town homes perched 30 to 50 feet above street level. The living space, consisting of a state-of- the-art kitchen, great room, bathroom, and home recording studio or office will be on the 4th floor, 38 feet above street level, so as to maximize city skyline views, daylight, and energy efficiency. 3 of the lofts will have 17 foot high ceilings with mezzanines and open to a lushly landscaped courtyard. Finally two loft flats will have 10 foot high ceilings also open- ing to the landscaped courtyard. All lofts will have 2 to 3 bathrooms and 1 to 4 bedrooms. Interiors including kitchens, baths, and finishes will all be ‘eco-luxury,’ with high-end ap- pointments that have simple and modern lines while being environmentally friendly.

Hora de começar a organizar a vida de formada. Desde que eu me entendo por gente lembro que sempre quis ir para o exterior. Se não fosse meu pai segurar as rédeas eu já tinha inventado mil viagens.
Quando comecei a faculdade a vontade acabou esquecida pelas novidades. Colegas, profissão, técnicas,… o jornalismo começou a sugar a minha energia de uma forma que não tinha mais espaço para qualquer outro pensamento.
Agora estou praticamente formada e sinto que o momento de ir embora chegou. Saí de casa com 16 anos para morar em Porto Alegre, já trabalhei pra caramba dentro da minha área (levando em consideração que nem tenho diploma ainda), tive boas experiências. Tudo isso fez com que eu pudesse amadurecer e hoje afirmar cheia de convicção: chegou a hora.
Já fico com o coração apertado só de pensar nas pessoas que vou deixar aqui. Não sei como ficar por tempo indeterminado sem ver meus pais, meus pequeninos irmãos, a Preta, meus avós, a Laura, a Camila, amigos, nossa… a lista é grande. A saudade vai ser um dos sentimentos mais forte durante o período que vou morar fora.
Como acordar sem ver no chão da cozinha as gotas de café derramadas pela Camila? Como não precisar me arrumar pé por pé para não acordar a Laura? Como não ter a Famecos para ir todos os dias? Como não ter a Lancheria do Parque na busca por um encontro inusitado? Como não ter a Redenção para me jogar na grama num domingo preguiçoso de sol? Como não ter Venâncio para me refugiar nos fins de semana? Como não ter a casa da Édina para ficar horas e horas jogando conversa fora? Como não ter o Muca e a Grê para jantar nos domingos de noite? Como não ver o Arthurzinho para iluminar a minha vida? Como não caminhar pelas ruas irregulares da Rua da Praia respirando Porto Alegre?
E ele… Sempre ele… Como não estar aqui para continuar a nossa eterna história sem fim?
Tenho duas certezas. A primeira é que vou ter que me preparar muito bem nos dois meses que faltam para o embarque. Mentalizar o novo e me desligar das minhas raízes.
A segunda certeza é de que a nossa história está bem longe de ter um fim. O que vejo agora é uma continuação num cenário diferente. É bebê… Deve ser coisa do destino mesmo. Because maybe you’re gonna be the one that saves me. And after all, you’re my wonderwall. (Oasis)

I typed “turkey tiles” into Google to see if I could find some wacky ceramic with a handpainted turkey motif or some such to post today. But my search turned up tiles from Turkey, of course, so I thought I’d follow Google’s lead and instead post my fave Turkish tile treat: the Iznik Foundation, which I visited in Istanbul a few years ago. The foundation–and the website–is an believable primer on this ancient tradition, which was something of a lost art until a group of scholars devoted themselves to discovering the secrets to making the characteristic sultry glazes (which incorporate quartz). Gorge yourself on eye candy here…from mosques to hotel interiors to reproduction tiles and pottery…

Paul McCartney

De acordo com a Folha Online, o cantor e compositor britânico Paul McCartney disse que seu medo do palco era tão grande que ele pensou em abandonar os Beatles nos anos 1960:

A revelação foi feita ontem, de forma bem-humorada, segundo o site revista “NME”, numa exibição à imprensa do DVD que Paul lançará em dezembro, “Good Evening New York City”.

McCartney explicou que, quando a banda começou, ele ficava tão nervoso antes de subir ao palco que às vezes pensava se valia à pena, diz a revista especializada em música.

Há muitas diferenças entre fotos de interior e fotos de exterior. Fotos de interior são sempre mais difíceis por causa da luz adequada: na maioria das vezes, teremos que usar luz artificial ou flash. Mas tudo depende do clima que você quer passar. Vamos lá!

TIRE FOTOS AO AR LIVRE

Sempre que possível, tente tirar fotos num ambiente externo. Melhor ainda seria se esse ambiente conversasse com sua produção. Repare nas fotos da Karla: na primeira foto, a meinha verde conversa com as árvores lá atrás e, na segunda, os tijolinhos conversam com o casaco e a sandália. Não, nada disso é acidental. Foi pensado e calculado. É isso que faz uma simples foto virar uma imagem de impacto.

CRIANDO UM CLIMA

Nessa foto, tudo contribuiu para o clima intimista e sensual inspirado pelo casaco fofo: a maciez da roupa, do lençol e a luz suave que entra pela janela. Não é à toa que o lençol é branco: ele serve como rebatedor senão o rosto dela ficaria muito escuro. Refletindo a luz, ele equilibra o contraste. Mas repare: a proposta da roupa e da foto combinam! É nisso que se tem que pensar na hora de montar uma composição. Foto daqui.

Adam Lambert

De acordo com o Globo Online, a performance de Adam Lambert no American Music Awards no último domingo, 22.11.2009, considerada polêmica (o cantor simulou sexo oral com um bailarino e beijou outro no palco), o segundo colocado da oitava temporada do “American idol” teve a participação no programa “Good morning America” cancelada:

Lambert seria o convidado da edição que vai ao ar nesta quarta-feira no canal americano ABC.

“Eu não sou uma babá, sou um ‘performer’”, reclamou o cantor de 27 anos em entrevista ao apresentador do “American idol” Ryan Seacrest. O canal americano ABC decidiu cancelar a apresentação do cantor depois de receber mais de 1,5 mil reclamações sobre a postura de Lambert na premiação de domingo.

De acordo com matéria de Vitor Moreno para a Folha Online, o disco “Jazz Samba”, no qual os músicos Stan Getz e Charlie Byrd interpretam diversas canções da bossa nova, entrou para o Hall da Fama do Grammy:

O anúncio foi feito ontem nos Estados Unidos. O álbum foi classificado na categoria jazz.

Lançado em 1962, “Jazz Samba” tem sete músicas, das quais seis são de compositores brasileiros. São elas: “Desafinado” e “Samba de uma Nota Só”, ambas de Antônio Carlos Jobim e Newton Mendonça; “O Pato”, de Jayme Silva e Neuza Teixeira; “Samba Triste”, de Baden Powell e Billy Blanco; “É Luxo Só” e “Bahia”, ambas de Ary Barroso. Completa o disco, a música “Samba Dees Days”, composta por Charlie Byrd.

A mistura de culturas pode ser atribuída ao incentivo que o governo australiano oferece aos estudantes estrangeiros, o que não quer dizer que não haja controle sobre eles. O governo australiano estimula pesquisas nas áreas médica, biológica, oceanográfica, física e tecnológica.

Conhecida pelos exóticos cangurus, koalas e até pelas tribos aborígenes. A Austrália apresenta uma beleza natural e preservada que encanta os estrangeiros. Suas mais de 10 mil praias são o sonho de consumo de qualquer surfista. A diversidade de climas encontrada no território australiano vai desde o calor do “Outback” (nome dado ao deserto no país por estar fora da costa), no centro do país, até as geleiras das “Snowy Mountains” (montanhas de neve), a pouco mais de uma hora de Camberra, capital do país.

A Austrália tem uma sociedade mais igualitária que a brasileira. Ou seja, há menor diferença entre as classes sociais australianas que entre as brasileiras.

NZI Centre by Jasmax

Introduction
The NZI Centre is a commercial office building located in Auckland’s CBD. It is an integrated design, with the architectural and interior/workplace elements both designed by Jasmax alongside one another, but with two different clients.

The NZI Centre is leading the way in New Zealand for the new generation of socially responsible developments that place the occupant environment at the centre of the design. While the focus has been internal, there has been a holistic attitude and a balance struck between the internal spaces and urban design issues.

Architectural Concept
The concept began as a unique response to the complex urban environment that surrounded the site. The challenge was to create an internal environment that captured the energy of the busy intersection and the city, but which also provided a quiet sanctuary that a single tenant could use as a diverse workplace.

The first step was the creation of a void that opened out towards the city and the mature trees on the opposite side of Market Place. This created an arc shaped floor plate along the Western side of the building. This basic form creates a number of benefits including efficient building floor plates, the placement of the building’s primary transparent façade away from significant solar gain and embracing the outside environment as if with ‘out stretched arms’.

The void created by this gesture – which stretches between the arc floor plate and the façade – forms the atrium. This becomes a key element in the building.

Fitout Concept
‘Organisation as living entity’ was the main concept for the fitout. During briefing workshops the idea of the building being related to a greenhouse due to it’s largely glass façades was picked up. With this strongly established the fitout was then aligned to become the growing entity within. The language of the tree was translated into places within the building and was influential in organising the business. The roots or anchors of the company (training, shared cafes, public interaction) were located on the ground level. The vertical and horizontal circulation of the stair, lifts and walkways were described as the trunks and branches with nodes along the way for opportunities for bumping into people. And the foliage expressed the changing nature of the team’s immediate working environment.

Along with the initial ‘living entity’ concept there were overlapping rationales which included the following:

Simple structure – the base building acts as an exo-skeleton, and the interior elements become insertions within it.

Sit within – Interior elements sit within, resting lightly, not quite touching the building structure
See it all – the fitout is to create filtering, layering and allowing occupants to sight through so as not to allow silos or cul-de-sacs

For all of us – Celebrating the variety of individuality and the diversity of community and team.

Sustainability
Jasmax’s brief was to design a building that would meet, as a minimum, the NZ Green Building Council’s Greenstar NZ 5 star rating for Office Design.

Several strategies to achieve this rating were explored and the building reflects several initiatives that have never before been built locally.

The building is designed with Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles at the core of every decision and with the aim of achieving NZ Green Building Council’s Greenstar NZ 5 star rating for Office Design and a Green Star NZ 5 Star – Interiors 2009 Pilot Certified Rating,

This innovative building shows a step up in quality as well as a commitment to the green initiatives within the New Zealand market. Internally it is light and airy, while the external fabric texturally enriches the city and sophisticatedly responds to the surrounding environment. The result is a finely tuned and engineered building that has been crafted to excel in design and performance.

  Volksvagen Polo se lanza al mercado con una estrategia 360º que incluye televisión, prensa, exterior, acciones de guerrilla e Internet, una integración a nivel internacional.  

El spot es un hibrido entre Grease y  Regreso al Futuro, ya esta en campaña, pero se van a realizar muchas más oleadas. El spot antes de aparecer en la gran pantalla logró una amplia difusión en Internet, donde se lanzó a través de redes sociales, se ha creado una web que ofrece al usuario la posibilidad de diseñar su propio vehículo, con el incentivo de que el diseño que consiga más votos será producido de verdad y su creador se lo llevará a casa. Desde la web también se puede acceder al spot, su making of, a una aplicación que permite conducir on line el nuevo Polo, al espacio de la marca en Facebook y a la descarga de fondos de escritorio, salvapantallas y una ampliación para iphone y la canción del anuncio. Este es un buen ejemplo de integración de diferentes medios con un concepto creativo como hilo conductor que le da sentido. A partir de ahora cualquier campaña que no se plantee así esta avocada al fracaso.
