There’s a fishing show on the World Fishing Network called Hookin’ Up with Mariko Izumi.  She is the niece of Bob Izumi, professional angler and host of Bob Izumi’s Real Fishing Show.

I do remember randomly seeing fishing shows on TV in the morning hours on the weekends as a kid.  I’m sure Bob’s show must have come up.  Actually the videos do make Mariko’s show look very interesting and she does seem to know her stuff very well.  So maybe you’ll be watching the show for the fishing as much as Mariko…maybe.

Season 2 will start on Monday January 11, 2010.

Fun fact: One of her favourite TV shows is Arrested Development. Good choice because it’s one of my favourites and dang funny too.

Out of curiosity I decided to watch an episode of The Border on CBC (okay more out of boredom) but I genuinely was interested in seeing Grace Park.  I caught episode six of season 3 which aired on nov. 12 but unfortunately she wasn’t in the episode.  Instead I discovered a young Asian actor who plays a Chinese figure skater looking to defect to Canada in an episode that keeps you guessing quite a bit until the end.

The actor in question is Shannon Kook-Chun.  Although I didn’t find his Chinese accent convincing (sounded awkward and not really mandarin-like) and the romance was a bit forced (but isn’t it always?). Still, I was entertained by the episode which was a pleasant surprise (considering my general perception of Canadian-made TV shows sucking beaver balls).  The acting was a heck of a lot better than in that CBC movie Dragon Boys.  A good looking blonde chick never hurt either.  She’s a recurring character on the show playing the daughter of the main character, Mike Kessler, head of Immigration & Customs Security (ICS).  For those of you in Canada, you can watch this episode online.

More recently (as in yesterday), I caught the latest episode (nine) of ABC’s Flashforward on CTV.  There I noticed another Asian.  A Japanese actress who plays the love interest of one of the doctors and the main reason why his outlook on life becomes more positive after his vision of the future.

That actress is Yūko Takeuchi who appears to be quite popular in Japan and has won numerous awards.  I don’t know much about Japanese film or TV so I’m not familiar with her.  Flashforward already has John Cho and Gabrielle Union as a couple and one of the main characters is a lesbian which makes it one of the more diverse casts out there.    Although besides the premiere the only episode so far that I’ve found to be very good was the episode before this one.  It’s not a bad show by any means but the overall mystery plot in particular moves slowly.  There’s sometimes more emphasis on the characters which is fine but I wonder what the point is of covering the characters not directly related to the main mystery plot.  Seeing different perspectives on the same future event is interesting though.

Salve a tutti, sono Mary, colei che vi inonda di aggiornamenti su facebook  Vi scrivo la mia opinione sul film solo oggi perchè dispongo di una linea internet solo adesso, dato che per metà settimana vivo in una città diversa per motivi universitari.

Ho comprato il mio biglietto Mercoledì alle 12.33, per lo spettacolo delle 16. Pericolo urla certo, ma non riuscivo ad aspettare alle 20 o alle 22.  Partiamo dall’inizio del film.

Spettacolare l’effetto eclisse sulla luna quasi arancione che scopriva in titolo “New Moon” ; il mio cuore ha iniziato a battere fortissimo. Fantastica Alice che salta dalle scale

Il film è andato avanti regolarmente, Edward che porta Bella alla sua festa di compleanno, l’incidente con Jasper, Edward che lascia Bella. Da fan sfegatata della coppia Edward-Bella devo ammettere che, non grazie a Kristen, Jacob adesso mi sta quasi simpatico. Le loro scene mi sono piaciute molto, ma penso che in Eclipse questo cambierà

Il wolf pack…spettacolare. Una nota di merito a coloro che hanno curato gli effetti speciali, e naturalmente a Chris il regista. La trasformazione ti può lasciare senza fiato per qualche secondo.

Un grazie a Melissa Rosemberg per non aver rivoluzionato New Moon come era successo con Twilight. Questa sceneggiatura è stata di gran lunga superiore a quella di Twilight.

Insomma, per fare una descrizione più dettagliata dovrò rivederlo almeno altre due volte ( cosa che penso accadrà molto presto ) ma in conclusione io darei a questo film un bel 8. Considero New Moon un libro di passaggio, quasi un secondo Twilight con Jake al posto di Edward, ricordo che dopo aver finito di leggerlo ero subito passata a Eclipse per vedere come andava a finire.

Con Eclipse penso resteremo tutti a bocca aperta. Ancora complimenti a Taylor Lautner, assolutamente il migliore fra gli attori. Appuntamento al 30 Giugno 2010.

this may be deep but due to a recent ruling against 23 y/o john lewis , )he murdered Philadelphia police officer chuck Cassidy on Halloween in 2007. ) i was just curious how my readers feel about the death penalty. i personally am against it. i think justice is just as served with life in prison. my reasoning is i believe that there has been wayy to many people on death row eventually proven innocent. i also do not believe that killing someone for killing someone is a proven punishment, i think spending the rest of your life behind bars is a HUGE punishment. just think in prison day after day , year after year you have no choice but to think and deal with the horrendous crime you committed. if they kill you then in my eyes you are kinda getting an easy way out. i also have the kind of heart that people CAN change. time dwelling on your actions can change a person, im not saying this is a proven theory , but i know there are people serving life sentences that have found some sort of guidance whether it was spiritual or psychological and really can regret and have remorse for the person they were, and will spend the rest of their days wishing that they had the guidance that they have now.

side note: please DO NOT get me wrong i do not condone ANY crime esp. rape and murder!! I just also am very spiritual and do not agree with an eye for an eye.

(CNN) — Can Lou Dobbs make the leap from the anchor desk to the Oval Office?

A radio interviewer on WTOP joked Monday about the “crazy” idea that the former CNN host could mount a White House bid in 2012 — but Dobbs wasn’t laughing. “What’s so crazy about that?” he responded in the interview broadcast on the Washington, D.C. station.

“Well, I’ll tell you this much: it’s one of the discussions that we’re having,” Dobbs said. “For the first time, I’m actually listening to some people about politics.”

Dobbs, who amicably parted ways with the network earlier this month, also told former Sen. Fred Thompson that he was definitely weighing a run.

“I’m going to be talking some more with some folks who want me to listen to them in the next few weeks,” Dobbs said on the 2008 Republican presidential candidate’s radio show. “I just don’t even know even what to tell you in terms of where I’m leaning, because right now I’m fortunate to have just a number of wonderful options.”

The former anchor’s strong views on illegal immigration have made him a lightning rod for criticism from Hispanic groups, and a popular figure in some conservative quarters.

Rowrrr! With baby-faced beefcake “Extra” weekday host Mario Lopez on the Fox & Friends curvy couch, co-anchor Gretchen Carlson appeared ready to pounce. Thoughts of her very own “Saved by the Bell” boy toy seemed to permeate the atmosphere as she and her co-host, Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy, interviewed Lopez and even into the show’s subsequent block.

Before the segment, Brian gave his sportscast and named Minnesota Viking quarterback “forty-year old Brett Favre” as his choice as his weekly “Brian’s Best Player.” In an aside, he joked, “Hey, forty-year olds get off the couch, put on a uniform and the eye black. You can still play!” Before he segued to Lopez’ interview, the forty-three old Gretchen groused, “You make Favre and forties sound like it’s ancient.” Brian deadpanned, “it’s very old.”

During Lopez’ interview, Brian asked, “Am I right [that] you were never a dancer until you gave it a shot on Dancing with the Stars [2006].” After Lopez said that he had not danced since he was a child of five or six, Gretchen racily remarked, “Well, let me just tell you, you still have the moves!”

Later, when the F&F producers put up a pic of Lopez donning ladies’ lingerie, a Merry Widow variant, for FOX’s Nip/Tuck series, Gretchen oohed, “Aww, man! She suggestively added, “I understand the inside story on this was that you didn’t like the way your feet looked in the shoes but that some people liked you butt.” Reddening, Lopez asked, “Wait, what inside story is that?” Before she could answer, Brian interjected, “Yeah, what is going on, Gretchen? What are your sources?” Undeterred, Gretchen continued, “That’s what I read. I read the chicks are envious of your butt.” Apparently, rather ready to move on, Lopez deflectively declared, “I did not know that but…I was surprised they found heels…for a size eleven shoe.”

However, in the very next block, Gretchen was still purring. As she and Steve discussed mammogram and self-exams in a health care segment with Dr. Mehmet Oz (the host of the Dr. Oz Show” jested, “By the way, Mario Lopez is back in the green room trying to learn from me how to examine breasts.” Randily, Gretchen exclaimed, “I think he knows!” Finally, as the segment concluded, Gretchen lustily eyed the camera and cooed, “I’m not kidding, ladies.”

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The Republican National Committee will target a
handful of centrist Democrats on Monday with a new Web video and series of
conference calls criticizing the Democrats for voting to allow debate to begin
on health care reform.

The 60-second video, which will be e-mailed to more than 5 million
people, singles out Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana, Byron Dorgan of North Dakota,
Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Ben Nelson of
Nebraska, as well as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, according to
an advance copy of the video provided to CNN.

“Rolled by pressure from Barack Obama and Harry Reid, they voted to move
forward a government-run health care bill our nation does not want and can’t
afford,” an announcer says before ticking off criticism of each lawmaker.
Reid persuaded all 58 Democrats and the two independent senators who
align themselves with the Democrats to vote Saturday evening in favor of
allowing debate on the Democratic health care bill to move forward.

“On Saturday night, a number of moderate Senate Democrats sacrificed
their principles to bring America dangerously closer to government-run health
care.” RNC Chairman Michael Steele said in a statement received by CNN that
will be released Monday. “Ben Nelson sold out his conscience and voted in favor
of federally funded abortions. Blanche Lincoln sold out her principles by
voting in favor of a government-run insurance plan, something she previously
said she opposed. And Mary Landrieu simply sold her vote to the highest bidder
after Harry Reid added a $300 million earmark just for Louisiana. Voters
elected these senators to represent their best interests. Instead they voted in
the dead of night for a health care experiment that will increase taxes, raise
premiums, cut Medicare, and use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion. This is not
the representation Americans deserve. It’s time for these senators to take a
long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves who they really work for –
their constituents or liberal Democrats like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.”

With senators returning home for the Thanksgiving recess, GOP officials
in Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska and Pennsylvania also will hold conference
calls with state and national reporters to echo Steele’s criticism.

Being new to all of this, I’ve been trying to gather sources from which I can uncover upcoming screenings far enough in advance so that I can consolidate them all and relay that information to you.  Here are a couple that looked quite interesting but which I missed completely.  Hopefully they’ll be available to view in the future.

After Pacquiao scored a TKO victory over Cotto last weekend, earning an unprecedented 7th title in a 7th weight class, he booked a concert to sing with his band.  Now comes the release of a trailer for his new movie Wapakman which also co-stars WWE star Batista.  I post this only because it’s so ridiculously cheesy that it could possibly become one of the most awesome movies of all time.

Doesn’t that music sound similar to the Spider-Man movie theme?  Pac-Man even wears the thick rimmed glasses.

The two were discussing the recent controversial cover of Newsweek magazine, in which Palin is shown in running shorts. Carville said Palin should not complain about the use of a photo which was not a candid shot but one she had originally posed for, even if it were for a publication other than Newsweek. Echoing recent comments by Palin, Matalin disagreed and said she thought the Newsweek cover was sexist.

“You can agree on this,” Matalin asked her husband, “she looked good in it, right?”

“She does,” Carville said without hesitation, “Ain’t no doubt about that. You and her are the two best-looking women in the Republican Party,” the Democrat told his wife.

But Carville did not have much more positive to say about Palin.

While the Democratic strategist said Palin is “compelling” and connects with her supporters “in an unbelievable way,” Carville also said the former Alaska governor, believed by some political observers to be laying the groundwork for a 2012 White House bid, is not fit to be the nation’s chief executive.

“What I said about Sarah Palin on the day she was nominated [for the number two spot on the Republican presidential ticket last year], is still true. She’s uniquely and supremely unqualified to be president of the United States. But she’s got real presence about her. I find myself wanting to watch her more than I do most other politicians,” Carville told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King as Matalin looked on.

Matalin said Palin was good for the Republican Party as it begins to position itself for the 2010 midterms and the 2012 White House race.

“We’re ascendant in 2010,” Matalin said Sunday, “but we need people who can communicate the framework, the philosophy into which policy prescriptions can be put and [Palin] does that better than almost anybody.”
