Bronze and ivory , sequins , heavy glass beads like an enchanted glass painting , with arabesques and rich fantasies unfolding in an embroidered wonderland of graceful  curves silk and pearls … This dress is magical , and was embroidered and stitched entirely by hand on my meticulous drawings translated into an exact design with a symphony of needle pricks to make the original embroidery pattern …as if a perforated pointillist lacework . The gowns are custom made , and made in small series of similar pieces with slight variations . Each piece is a work of art , and may take up to six months to complete  from the first drawing . They are made by the finest embroidery artists , usually young Moslem men with traditional skills of ancient embroidery techniques , and lovingly made . Sometimes only one is made per design . They are timeless beauties , lasting  through years of delicate wonder , and treasured wear . … and beauty never goes out of fashion … Opulent , full of the energy in 1000 hours of work by loving hands , the garment falls with its’ weight , just so … enough to sculpt the female form , to  hug it’s curves with a  matchless , fantasy of elegance … a la twenties Gatsby , but truly , timeless haute couture .

Wearable for a Gatsby wedding , perfect for a ride in a white Bentley , a night on the town , dancing  on tables with bottles of champagne as the sax player  shuts the club down , with memories of sweet Charlston nights  somewhere in the distant background , as you remember Paris , and just keep dancing while  the world is seen through rose colored glasses  ….  with strains of  a sweet and elegantly seductive nostalgia .

It is modeled  by the talented jazz vocalist Belinda Corpuz , singing for the Aurora Borealis Project , and  wearing it in a video  featuring her singing , accompanied by Steven Hall , and the ambient sounds  of the Aurora Borealis Ensemble . Made to order , this  magnificent gown is bias ut heavy silk crepe , spliced with swathes of gentle grey lace . With a weight  that is exceptional at sculpting the body , and hugging curves , this  gown is cut in curved panels that accentuate the waist and  lengthen the body’s lines

Soft and gentle like a summer breeze , she shimmers when she walks , dressed in flowing white satin .. . The second gown  worn by Angela is another of Lowan Pope’s  signature   bias cut gowns. It  flows down her body , and ripples around her feet in soft waves  . Cream lace  adds delicate detail at the bodice and neckline  , cascading into a long sweeping skirt  that sculpts the form as it drapes  in graceful folds at the hem.

The streets of Yorkville beckon with a certain charm that promises a glimpse of magic , even on a grey and gloomy day . Venturing out into the rainy afternoon was not a disappointment . Brides shopping for something truly marvelous  , and unique will find the streets of Yorkville full of hidden gems . Our shopping excursion was like an Easter egg hunt . Strolling and stumbling upon shops with a flair for the unique ,we delighted in the fantasy, elegance and sumptuous style found in boutiques full of eccentric or refined style  , making each visit an indulgence in living a fantasy .
Starting with the frothy exuberance of Betsey Johnson and her perennially youthful and bubbly look  , we enjoyed  her unabashed  celebration of pink and tulle . Wonderful fantasy shoes , as worn by Monroe in glamourous years gone by . and a must for the very  young bridesmaid to be as a point of departure .

Continuing along the street we came upon a lovely shop called Celebration  ; a celebration of the special occasion shoe  , it carries a wonderful array of bridal accessories and sparkling ,  bejewelled  , shimmering white satin shoes .
Seduced by the vision of a luxurious bed , we stepped into  the neighboring shop  HSH  …. a shop specializing in bed linens fit for a Duchess , or  even a Queen .Visions of Royal Weddings  surrounded us .  Silks and satins , the finest linens and fine cottons trimmed with white lace and crystals line the shelves , and even comforters with ostrich feather trim whisper of their blissful charms to those who appreciate such extreme luxury . This shop has everything  to suit the bride who wishes dreams  as sweet as her her heart  , in a regal  boudoir  . Their  fine  lace trimmed satin cushion we saw perched on a magnificently dressed bed  was  beautiful . The  perfect  way  for a ring bearer to bear a ring down the aisle  . And fit for a Royal Wedding … located at 108 Yorkville Ave.  They even make custom bedding trimmed with crystals and rhinestones  , and ostrich feathers .  Their web site is: www.hshcanada.com.
Turning right onto Hazelton St. we delighted in the elegance of several fine shops admiring their  refined style , and were drawn to the huge sculpture of a bronze bull on the street . Coming closer , my eyes were drawn to a lovely window in an elegant house ; both modern and very classical …. The dove grey and white Bride in the  white window  exuded  elegance , and a mysterious style  and I was compelled to enter …  There was an aura of peace and beauty that seemed to emanate from the mysterious interior …..

I entered a space full of grace and softness . This spirit suddenly came to life when a lovely  lady greeted me  as I stepped in to what could be called a temple , or more mundanely ,  a Gallery for the Art of the the Dress .  …..Art of the Wedding Dress to be exact , and the designer , Sara is truly an artist with her treatment of this most exquisite theme .  Like the beautifully designed creamy white space , her gowns are  all made  in the old style of a true couture salon . Designed and created  in house  , in  their own atelier , with  all trim and detail work done by hand with the finest in couture fabrics ,the gowns are made by a couture team of seamstresses  using only the best pure silks in their  crepes , chiffons and satins .

Sara graciously beckoned us to enter , and we entered a room where every gown shone like a glowing gem . The entire two floors are devoted to the beauty of the dresses and the pleasure of choosing the perfect dress for the beauty of the individual bride . Each dress is a work of art ,  lovingly made , and created by the  designer  and her team . Sweeping skirts of draped satins , french  lace  bodices , chiffon and taffeta roses making sculpture  out of dresses delight the eyes , and are made to order , or from the collection , and are also sold and sent around the globe , with a large clientele in Britain . What  luck for Toronto brides to have her Couture Wedding  Salon here for personal fittings .
